I'm always looking for useful products that fit my budget
September 22, 2015
Living in a small, stick-built old cottage on a lake, I'm always looking for useful products that fit my budget, are useful and add to the ambiance! This lovely, quiet heater is just the ticket! The living and dining area are one large room, 12 x 27 in area, and this heater quietly and charmingly keeps it warm and keeps my propane bill down. The remote is a nice feature. I would suggest setting this up a bit higher off the floor; I used a large cedar window box turned upside down for this purpose, but you could set it on decorative blocks or a low shelf instead.
Best one in $200 and under range. People assume I paid atleast $450

Excellent and unreal how much heat it blows out.I have a big basement and a garage. I put it in my garage in dead of winter while working on my bike and I usually have to shut it off after an hour. The wheels are great. When I'm done I push it rt back into finished side of basement and it's great! Not too loud at all and it is silent if you are just using the flames. My dogs love it! 3 of my friends have exact model. I looked for 3 months so trust me if you can get it under $200 grab it!

Happiness is a warm house!
March 24, 2015
Had just moved into my home and froze in the den (15 x 13) with open doorways -- this is now the favorite room in the house. Super efficient and looks amazingly real. A great buy, you will not regret this purchase. Very quiet, cool to the touch, my yorkie thinks it is a real fireplace and I had to move her little bed to in front of the unit.
Great Fireplace!
December 29, 2013
I did a lot of research and read many reviews. I was really glad that I ended up buying this one. The cabinet is very nice (though small - I had a friend make a wooden base for it to raise it up) and the "fire" is fairly realistic-looking. I like the fact that it has a remote and you can view the flames without using the heating part of it. You can set the thermostat for whatever temperature you want and the heat cuts off when it reaches that temp. Nice for looks AND nice for space-heating. A good value.
Great Buy & Very Realistic
January 12, 2013
This was a great buy - don't believe that this product is not in stock - I ordered it when it was supposedly not in stock and it shipped the next day - I ordered it on 1/6/2013 and it arrived on my doorstep on 1/9/2013 (and the shipping was free from Amazon - which is nothing short of incredible since the shipping weight is 68 pounds!!!). The flames are extremely realistic and the only part that gets hot is the little grill in front where the heat comes out. I have had mine running for 6 hours straight and the back didn't even get hot. I can keep my house thermostat at 62 and still be toasty warm in my living room when this is running. This is one of the best products I have ever gotten - I am thrilled with it. It looks beautiful when it's on and the heat is great. The only negative comment I have is that the picture does not match the item's color - the actual item has wood that is much darker than what is pictured.

November 15, 2016
I have lived in this cabin in the woods for 20 years and never was able to stay warm using electric space heaters. This one works great. I don't understand how it works, but it does. And the electric bill was not terribly high either. I call it magic, but you can call it whatever you like.
Works good
August 1, 2016
Works good puts out way more heat than a space heater oil or ceramic, uses some electricity but once the place is up to temp it hardly runs unlike the baseboard heat, saves a little bit in electricity.still running after two winters.
Love the 8 element
June 25, 2016
Works great for my basement which is 15 x 40, the 8 elements work so much better for large rooms than others that have 4-6. I bought 2 and I ue the other one upstairs it does my living room and kitchen with no problem at all, much cheaper than fixing an oil furnace and the increase in power was much less expensive than purchasing oil and the furnace didn't even heat the basement.
Don't Put it Off!
November 21, 2015
Have gone through several heating seasons now wondering if an infrared quartz heater would really work for me. I have researched different models and price points, but could never come to a decision. Until I read about the Ultimate 8 from Lifesmart!! Not wanting to put up with a damp chill in the house this winter (without running the baseboards on a higher setting and paying for it too), I decided this was the year! Kept looking at pricier units with a higher name recognition, but closed the deal with this one because it has 8 elements, a nice looking cabinet, high reviews, and a great price (a local chain retailer has a 6 element unit from Lifesmart for the same price). So glad I got this one from Amazon! The unit is performing even better than I had hoped. The chill is gone, the heat on that level of the house is solid (we live in a split-level and this heater takes care of the kitchen and an open L-shaped dining room/living room area). It cycles nicely, keeps cool to the touch, and seems accurate with the temperature read-out. On top of that it is quiet. Also, the instruction book makes replacement part purchases easy. Don't put it off!
Fantastic Large Room Heated Does the Job!
January 10, 2015
This was purchased for my very, very large classroom in which 9 teachers work with high school girls who have learning disabilities. I sit in the far outside corner of the room, and do not like the temperature to be particularly high, but it's too cool for me, and everyone else was always complaining as well, teachers and students, about the coldness of the room. I wanted something that would look nice and would be safe, that had good insulation and was high quality. I was particularly concerned about any of the students getting burned by the type of heater on which the heat source was too close to the surface, or the outside of it was not well insulated and burns could happen if the heater was simply touched. I read all the specs on this heater, and considering its construction and cabinetry, felt it would be safe. I was right. This is a fantastic piece of attractive furniture as well as being a great heater. The large room gets nice and comfortable within a reasonable amount of time. We do have students going in and out every 50 minutes or so, therefore we must guard against the door being left open because this lets the heat out. It does a great job of heating and the outside is absolutely cool to the touch. I particularly like that it has not only an electronic shut off on the front control panel, but can also be shut off with an old fashioned switch in the back. The only people in the classroom who know about that control are the teachers, which is going to stay that way. The girls are very respectful of private property, so they don't even touch it, but we don't want them able to turn it on by themselves. Of course they can figure it out eventually themselves, but the less they know up front, the better. It's a great heater for a very large room and all the teachers and students are very pleased with it. Even the person responsible for okaying it for safety was impressed with this heater and check marked it immediately on inspection. I definitely recommend this heater for extra large rooms, for its functionality and its looks.
Just one night

Our house has a heat pump and although the house is well insulated, with 6" exterior walls, the heat pump leaves a lot to be desired - the house, in winter, is always cold and the heat pump runs constantly, with the thermostat set at 70 degrees. Last winter I had to set the thermostat to supplemental heat the entire winter and it was still cold so we used space heaters, too - our electric bill in January and February were ridiculously high. The Lifesmart Ultimate 8 Element 1800 Square Foot Infrared Heater w/Air Ionizer arrived yesterday afternoon. The house was 74 degrees when it arrived with no heat turned on, just sunshine and a warmer day heating the house, but the temperature by early evening was dropping steadily and there was constant strong cold wind. Overnight it was in the low forties. Today it is only going to reach into the mid-fifties. Unpacked the Lifesmart after it arrived yesterday, turned it to on, and set it to 74 degrees. We didn't turn on the central heat, and around seven o'clock last evening the Lifesmart began heating - we monitored the thermometers round the house and they never dropped from 74 degrees by the time we went to bed at 11 p.m. I awoke at 3 a.m. and walked into every room in the house (most rooms have a thermometer hung on the wall or a tabletop display thermometer) and every room was 74 degrees. The Lifesmart is so quiet, too. We are going to buy a smaller Lifesmart for the Master Bedroom, as we keep the door closed to keep the dog and cat out while we sleep. Will update this review next month after the electric bill arrives.December 24, 2013 - 1:30 p.m. - Electric Bill was posted today for the period November 15, 2013 thru December 15, 2013. We used 1854 kilowatt hours in the period - our bill is $226.25. Same period last year we used 1835 kilowatt hours, the bill was $226.07. We are supplementing the LifeSmart Heater with two ceramic heaters - one in the bedroom when the door is closed (nights and whenever we want to keep the cat and dog out), and another heater in the mud room at the far end of the house. As I said in the previous comment, it is a lot colder this year than last - our daytime highs are often what our nighttime lows were last year, but the house is warm with the LifeSmart heating the house, whereas it never felt warm with the heat pump, even when the heat pump was brand new. We are considering taking out the floor registers and having the openings sealed and having the heat pump removed. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Everyone should have one for electric heaters!
February 16, 2017
As an ex-firefighter, I can attest to how often electric space heaters cause house fires. That very experience occurred to me last week when in the middle of the night I jumped out of bed in full on alarm mode. I smelled burning plastic.Turns out, the girlfriend had tossed her shirt across the room and it landed on top of our electric fan heater. Later in the night, when the heater cycled on it restricted the air flow from the heater which caused the heater to overheat. (not to mention the smell of ironed clothes) When I woke up with alarm bells in my head, the first thing I checked was the heater and when I saw the shirt I thought "ok, thats all it is".. but clothes don't normally smell like burning plastic, so I kept looking around and sure enough, the wall outlet the heater was plugged into was in full on meltdown. This was a bit sobering - we're used to putting out fires started by electric heaters and you never expect it to happen to yourself.I ordered three of these units that same day. After repairing the outlet, I just plugged this in over it. It looks great - the green light is kind of reassuring but for the bedroom, I wish it was dimmer.Regardless I'm happy to know if I'm not home and my girlfriend decides to play peek-a-boo with the heater again, this unit will kill the power before it melts down the house. Also, she now has a fire extinguisher on her side of the bed.
Well made and functional

Good for small rooms
February 9, 2017
I bought this as a gift for my mother and she likes it. It's a lot smaller than it looks and while it says that it heats 1000 square feet, it can take a few hours to heat up a large room. The flame, however, looks very realistic and it has wheels which makes it very easy to move if needed. This would be better used in a bedroom or a small enclosed room.
Great little affordable fireplace
February 7, 2017
Works great, warms the area we needed nicely. Our only minor grumble is the sound that is made when the 'flames' are on. It's not terrible, but it can seem loud & does get on my husbands nerves after a bit, especially when the house is on the quiet side. Definitely not a deal breaker, the flames can be turned off anyway and it's a nice and affordable little fireplace heater.
Great space heater for our living room. Looks great!
January 23, 2017
This is definitely an attractive addition to our living room. It helps keep our open-floor plan home warm, though it doesn't really heat the whole space. The fan is pretty powerful and as long as you are sitting in any kind of direct line from the front of the heater, you will feel the warm air blowing on you, even from across the room. I LOVE it.The only reasons I am not giving 5 stars are minor: 1. the way the vents are situated, it is difficult to read what temperature the unit is set to without squatting down. Not that big of a deal really. The other thing is that the fan can be kind of loud. If you're watching TV or something it's not really distracting, but if I'm on a conference call on speaker phone, I basically need to turn the whole unit off in order to hear what people are saying, or else go into another room, which defeats the purpose of a space heater. That said, my hearing isn't great to begin with, so it might not matter as much to other people.
Looks great and heats well.
December 14, 2016
I am very happy with this purchase. We live in an old drafty house and when it was time to replace a portable heater, I thought I would give this a shot because I like that it is pretty in addition to being functional. My only real complaint is that the fan is louder than I expected. We have it in the living room, and it is loud enough that we have to adjust the TV volume when it is on. Not a deal breaker, but I wish it would be more quiet. The flames are very nice. We leave them on all the time. I've seen other fireplaces when I've been out that cost far more and don't look nearly as nice. I'm very happy with my purchase.
After a week of ownership.
October 13, 2016
Looks great! It is small. I like the wood paneling around it. It is a nice brown stained wood color. Mine arrived broken, but I believe that to be the work of UPS. When the box arrived it looked like it had been kicked down a football field. As far as heat goes, it can really put out some heat. I love it.In the dark the fire place gives off a nice ombionce. In the daylight the logs look fake.Overall 4 out of 5.Once winter gets here I'll post about its performance during the ice storms.
Great fireplace for small areas.
December 22, 2015
Sometimes the fireplace makes a ticking noise that's annoying when you're trying to sleep, but sometimes it doesn't so I can't figure out what's going on. Other than that, I love this fireplace. It's so pretty to look at and it heats very well. I have it in my bedroom and it keeps me warm and toasty all night. You can set it to different temps and it'll turn itself off when that temp is reached and then on when the room temp goes below what you set it for. It's so much more economical than leaving our central heat on all night, heating rooms that don't need it. I have one in my living room too. You can't go wrong with this adorable and functional little fireplace.

This is much less expensive than propane. It keeps warm a little over 600 Sqr.Feet in a manufactured home. I use the economy setting and run it all night to warm the kitchen and bedroom halls. The air that comes out isn't super hot, so allow 30 to 45 minutes to warm a large area.
Saved My Winter
February 27, 2016
I live in Washington state where mold and rain are a huge issue. The 1000 SQFT. home I rent has crappy little electric wall heaters that provided poor heat and left the rooms damp and cold. I purchased two Lifesmart units for the top and bottom floors and ran each only when the 15X14 SQFT spaces were used. I ran the heater at 83 degrees on high heat for 2 hours which heated the entire downstairs successfully. Doing this twice per day kept the space comfortably warm with temps at 36 degrees outside. On the second week the breakers for the house blew causing me to reset them. I reduced the Lifesmart thermostat to 72 degrees on low heat and have received the same warming results with no blown breakers. Now the clincher: the electric bill. The bill for 2015 at this time for two months was $165.84 and this year 2016 is $175.98. My home has been dryer, warmer and mold has been less of an issue. Warning: These babies pull some amps!
Convenient.
March 15, 2015
The good news about this heater is that you can set the temperature and it will cycle on and off to keep the room that temp. The not so good news is that it takes it a long time to be able to bring the room up to that temperature. We have another one of these heaters of another brand and it heats up a similar sized room in half the time. The bonus of these heaters is that the outside box never gets hot so you can safely have these around children. So even though I might not like how long this heater takes to work I still like it for it's safety.
Trouble free heat.
November 28, 2014
I have 2 of these. The 1st one purchased locally 2 years ago, and works well.............but always hoping for something better I tried another heater (a Honeywell I had to send back because it quit working after only one week and cost me $ to return). .... I returned and purchased another one of these.Isn't that what you really want, something that works without problems?I wish you could set the "eco" setting at a lower temp than 68. And I wish it would power down from high to low, but it does do a good job of maintaining the temp you set it at..............WITHOUT PROBLEMS.Thanks.
Lifesmart Ultimate 8 Element 1800
February 27, 2014
I am very pleased with this heater for many reasons. The first being that it performs well. This is my main heat source for the bedroom. The room is ice cold and is about 15 x 15. There are 3 settings: High, Low and Economy. I can never set it on "Eco" because it keeps the room too hot. The thermostat says 68' on Eco and regulates it by kicking off and on as needed. Instead I set it on 58' and it still feels 10' warmer keeping it comfortable (for me) all night. Also this room has no insulation and the windows are drafty old single pane. Another reason I like it is I can move it easily from one room to another and park it just about anywhere as long as the back isn't pushed up against anything. The air filter is on the back and should be cleaned fairly often. More so if you have pets or if its used in a dusty area. The filter is a cheap thin plastic one like found in most AC window units. I have thought about replacing it with a better one. Speaking of pets... that was another huge plus in purchasing this one. My dogs have a tendency to lay too close to any heat source and I knew this one would not singe their coats or endanger our lives by them pushing a dog bed or toy too close to it. They won't even lay in front of this one since the heat comes from near the top. Two other reasons which I just find nice is (1) I can put things on top of it just like a little table because it stays cool to the touch no matter how long you run it and (2) it looks nice. I didn't give it a 5 because the first few days I used it some type of oil would drip onto the floor. Not sure what this was from. Other than that I am happy with my purchase.
Best value in large area forced air electric heating
November 3, 2013
This is a very safe product and looks great too. It is also likely the best one at heating a large room because it can continuously pull a little over 1400W (12-amps) on the high setting, putting out more heat compared to smaller ones and ceramic electric heaters that only really draw about 800W. They may all be rated at "1500W" but none of them really draw that much when warm. Having more elements gives it more heating surface area to dissapate heat, which allows it to pull more power all the time. There are also low and eco settings so it doesn't draw the 1400W if you don't need the extra heat. Because it does draw more power than other units you have to be more conscious of what else is on that circuit so you don't trip the breaker. If you have 15-amp breakers, then this thing will be drawing about 12 amps, so you cannot also run a vacuum cleaner on that circuit or a refrigerator or microwave or other large device. This is advertised as 1800W in places, but in the owners manual it says 1500W. However, in the same owners manual it says it may draw up to 15 amps, which would indeed be 1800W. In my actual testing it draws about 1440W (12 amps) continuously, which is actually about twice as good as most smaller cheaper ceramic electric heaters or any other wire coil electric heater. I have tested multiple units that draw less than 800W, and my "3-element" LifeSmart portable unit is the best small unit I have able to draw and dissapate just over 900W continuously on high. The fan is not loud, it is also not silent, it needs to get all that heat dissapated and distributed. The wood is always cool to the touch, doesnt heat up and the power cable doesnt get hot either like some other electric heaters. it will probably look best on carpet, because on a hard floor the legs are above the ground a little bit since it sets on the casters, and the 4 wooden legs are just a bit higher than those wheels. On carpet the wheels will sink a bit so the legs look like they are on the ground. I keep this one at my office and it helps warm up the corner of the building where my cubicle is. It is a large building, about a 20,000 sq-ft floor and our boiler has not worked for a year. It will get down to about 50 degrees inside the building on the coldest nights/mornings, and even when its about 58-62F outside this helps get my corner of the building to 68-70F in a couple hours making it much more comfortable to sit in the cubicles. There are other little personal space heaters on other power circuits helping to warm up the entire floor, but mine is the only one in about 2000sq-ft.If you just need to keep one person warm, then a $50 ceramic heater would do fine when placed a few feat away from the person, although these IR based units provide a more comfortable temperature of air (not as hot) but more distributed so it can warm up a whole couch or something like that.So Pros(1) Great performance, actually providing a lot more heat output than the small cheap ceramic units(2) Very safe, case does not get warm, has heavy duty power cable, its shuts off from tip over or just knocking it hard(3) The real wood looks great(4) The timing settings and remote are niceI dock one star for the following(1) I was hoping it would be able to draw at least 1500W continuous with the "8-elements", but at ~1440W its still better than any other forced air electric heater I have tested.(2) The buttons are a little cheap feeling.(3) I am not a fan of the beeping when hitting buttons, but only do that when turning it on and setting it up.

Works well an the indicator works as a little light too
How to verify it actually works?
May 16, 2017
This is a tricky one. I mean, it works, there's a green light to indicate that the temperature is ok so I'm guessing this means the device is "doing what's is supposed to" but who knows if it really does what it says it does? there isn't even a sort of a test button like in smoke detectors that will tell you the circuits are working (sorry for the non technical terms here, I'm not an electrician...). So, assuming the device works as advertised, I would say this is a good product. The build quality looks good and the price is ok (this is a 2 pack). I use it with a room heater in the basement so was ok to spend a little more and know that I'm reducing the chance of fire or electrical issues in the basement where sometimes the heater is left unattended, and I hope I will never have to see this device at work.
Okay
March 14, 2017
Seems to work okay but the light inside is larger and more diffuse than I had expected. Makes it look cheaply made.
Very nice, but I got a used
February 3, 2017
got this with electric stove heater because of fire risks with all space heaters. Very nice, but I got a used, (not really, but someone bought it and never took it out of plastic package, which is hard to cut into. the price was half of the brand new one. I paid about $12, but full price would have been a lot for this switch. My husband said we really didn't need this safety plug, but better safe than sorry. We can use it with some other electric heater and electronics where the plugs can get hot as well.
Great other than the light
January 14, 2017
I read the prior reviews about the bright indicator light and purchased it thinking I could put a piece of electrical tape over it and have no issues. The plastic case is thin and the internal light is so bright that even with electrical tape over the front the whole thing glows green like a night light which is pretty annoying when you're trying to keep your room dark. Outside of that it works as advertised.

Much smaller than advertised.
January 11, 2017
The unit heats well but the size advertised did not match the product. The width is actually 23 inches, not 29 inches, the height is 19 inches, not 23 inches, and the depth is 10 1/2 inches, not 11 inches. It may not make a difference when placing it next to a wall, but this unit was ordered to place in a fireplace opening measuring 30 x 24 inches, which would have worked well with the advertised dimensions of 29 x 23. The unit looks dwarfed in the large opening.
I like it. Good for the price. I wish it had 3D realistic flame
December 28, 2016
I have mixed emotions about this one. The fake fire logs are 3D realistic looking, but the fire is not. The fire is created on a 2D background. The fire kind of resembles a real fire if you don't stare at it. But I like to look at the logs which ruins the fire affect. I like it enough to keep it. The heater is good. I thought the whole thing was going to heat up when you have the heater on, but it doesn't which I'm thankful for cause I have furniture that rest within 2" of both sides of the fireplace. There's one little heat rod just inside the front vent that creates the heat and an internal fan blows the heat out.
Not bad, kinda disappointing
June 30, 2016
I've used this heater regularly through the past winter to thoroughly test it out, and 'Large Room' is greatly exaggerated, even in cool temperatures (40F-50F). In a small 100 sq ft bedroom it didn't seem to heat it up any faster or efficiently than a regular electric space heater, with the fan only being marginally quieter. The fire has a realistic flicker but the flat color (which is orange with no yellow) and the dim glow even on the brightest setting was disappointing. Personally I like more glow, but if you don't like a lot of light in the room (like for sleeping) the fire gives off barely any light and isn't distracting. On the positive side, it does look great as a piece of furniture, so I keep it around as decor; but if function is more important than appearance, I suggest getting a cheaper, fireless infared space heater.
Good deal for the money.
March 6, 2016
We bought this to replace a heat surge fireplace that went bad and was too expensive to repair. The Lifesmart arrived in good shape except for a small crush on one corner of the top of the cabinet [not very noticeable].The flames look as nice as the heat surge and the fireplace puts out more heat than the surge did.The only complaint is the thermostat seems to be somewhat inaccurate and does not cycle like it should-I have to bump up the temp to get the heat to come on again after it cycles off.All in all,we are happy with it and it looks nice at half the price of a heat surge.Update-We used this for 3 months and it worked fine then we stored it for the season. Now we tried to use it again during a cold spell and the unit does NOTHING.I contacted Life Zone for warranty service and they said they will replace with comparable unit-we will see!
Measure carefully...it's small
January 5, 2016
Received in a few days. This unit is SMALL. Looks small and a tad on the cheap side, I got what I paid for and no more. It does work well, puts out heat and the remote is easy to use. You need your own AAA battteries. I wish I had measured more carefully the area it was to occupy. This unit would be good in a spare room but not living or family room. I will have to build it up somehow like another poster said. It needs a good 12" on the bottom or some kind of cabinet. Would not put TV on top of this, it's only 10 1/2" deep, 28 1/2" wide.Would not buy again but too hard to return. Will put it somewhere!

This product is not as tall as I would like. I purchased a different product a couple of years ago and loved it so much. As I started shopping the other product was no longer available so after reading reviews I select this one. It arrived fast and no damages; box was heavy 50lbs. However, once unloaded from box it's very easy to push and set up in room.Cons: Power cord short in length, remote control is very poor made "buttons stick"Pros: Heats room in minutes, easy to wheel on floor, PRICE

It is not in the class with an Eden Pure and it does ok but would not and will not purchase this heater again. Will not keep room as warm as our previous Eden Pure and has much louder white noise from the fan but it is a third of the cost. I guess as the saying goes (you get what you pay for).
It's good....but not great !
December 24, 2016
Well the only negative thing that I have to say about this heater is, the heat isn't that warm ! Now the positive side is, the blower is is quiet, and has a good air flow output ! But I wouldn't buy another one ! I have a Dr. Infrared Heater, and it heats up the room quickly, it's quiet, and the heat is warm !
Mixed feelings
August 14, 2016
I bought two of these for my 2400 sq ft house. They put out a good amount of heat. One lasted less than 6 months. The other one is going strong. If the first one hasn't failed, they would be 5 stars without a doubt.
Wish it was better quality
January 24, 2016
Had to return because the fan wouldn't work and it overheated within the first 5 minutes. There were something loose rattling around in the product. It did look nice but didn't work properly. Very disappointed.
Inaccurate title and description.
October 27, 2015
The title and description of this Lifesmart Heater is not accurate, the 2015 model does NOT contain an IONIZER. I called and verified this with Lifesmart technical support.

I bought this as an alternative to using pellets for this winter in upstate NY and it only lasted me a single month of running on high heat but at 75 deg, maybe this was asking too much and I killed it but I was very unsatisfied as a second I bought is still working under the same conditions. It was a great alternative for the time being and now t only runs at 68deg on eco otherwise it shuts off like its blown a fuse that I will have to TS vice it working as it should but like I said I ran it HIGH HEAT 75deg for a month before it died so maybe its just me!!

Garbage
November 9, 2017
This showed up at my door completely beat up. There are scuffs all over one side of it, and I even found a piece of the wood at the bottom of the box. It also had no remote with it. I contacted LifeSmart to let them know and received an email back that they basically didn't care. I would recommend buying from a different company. Rated 2 stars because the flame looks nice, otherwise, it is garbage.

The box it came in had such big holes in it you could see the fireplace, and the wood on the top front has four big dents in it. I stained the dents to cover them up as much as possible, it is just too big to return.Jay

January 12, 2017
This came with some minor damage to the wood which I would have overlooked, but this unit just does not heat the way described. It was nice to look at but did not "heat" the living room in which it was placed. (15 x 18). Disappointed b./c the "fire" was pretty to have in the room, although much smaller than I imagined, but the dimensions were clearly listed. The seller did agree to a return without any hassle.
For small rooms only
December 10, 2016
Does not heat the amount of space specified in the description. It heats a 400 sq ft room but I would not recommend it for larger rooms in chilly weather. Outside temperatures have been ranging between 30 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit. I have the heater placed in my living room near my thermostat. The furnace in my small duplex (850 sq ft) is very inefficient to run so I bought this portable heater to supplement it. I am disappointed that this portable heater doesn't help maintain the temperature even with the assistance of my home furnace. If I take the heater into my bedroom and shut the door, it works fine, but the portable heater is ineffective in any room larger than that. Also, the heater's thermostat is not accurate because it will not turn on when it's set for a specific temperature. For example, when it is set at 68 degrees, it won't turn on until it's 64 degrees in the house.
Disappointed
December 9, 2015
I was looking forward to receiving this electric fireplace. I recently moved into an older home on the northern California coast... the first time I have owned a home that used propane, so I wanted a way to not have to run my heater all the time during this cold time of year. (Why this home didn't have a fireplace or wood-burning stove puzzles me. Eventually, I'll have one installed.) In the meantime I thought the LARGE ROOM Infrared Quartz Fireplace would do the job. It arrived quickly, and I loved the woodwork and look of the unit. The fire and logs looked good enough. I read through the information and instructions provided (Yes. I'm one of those.) This unit is very easy to understand and use. Unfortunately, it just didn't heat my living room, as promised. I used it for several days (per instructions), giving it a chance to redeem itself - and hopefully, give me a reason to keep it. When I found myself (dressed in layers, as usual) trying to push myself deeper into the sofa, and shoving my feet under the dog in an attempt to stave off shivering, while sitting just a few feet from the infrared unit (which was on), I knew I just had to send it back. I took a small Stanley space heater I had been using in my bedroom. Sat it next to the Lifesmart (box says Life Zone) unit (which I turned off), turned on (the Stanley) and within several minutes, the chill was out of the air. That was my expectation. Just keep the chill down enough to keep me from having to put on a puffy coat, and the home heating unit from coming on so often. I think I'll check to see if Stanley makes an electric fireplace or wood burning stove.
Arrived damaged...now what :-\
August 3, 2015
I usually adore Amazon and have perfectly fine experiences with the sellers, so when it came to making a large and expensive purchase, I was less apprehensive than I normally would be. This fireplace has potential. As it works when I plug it in and turn it on, but that is not all that matters with a $200-$300 piece. For the cost, it was poorly constructed. It arrived three days later than promised, and is noticeably very damaged. I don't know if the damage occurred during shipping, or if it was sent out this way. The poor and hasty construction may be an indicator of poor quality control, so it is perfectly possible that it was sent out damaged. Who knows, but I am disappointed. For the cost I know I should send it back and demand a replacement, but what a headache, and it will cost me to send it back! Or I can put even more time and money into trying to repair it. This is such a shame. I aim to update this and attach pictures of the damage as well.

If I can get good finish and sound wired- I am set. Did NOT work out 3 strikes
December 15, 2016
The first one I got WORKS GREAT, 5 stars but had a cabinet defect in that the left front strut like leg you can see was split. So I ordered a replacement. The replacement also had a small cabinet defect but it was in the rear and was where stain was missed. but it is where the housing is for the fan/filter intake so no big deal. However it must have had a short in the interior. Every plug/circuit I used poped my breakers. Including the one the first one ran like a champ on. same draw, as the units are identical so...3rd try enroute I hope. That will be the do or die trial. Why 3 stars with all the aggravation? Because the first unit as a heater easily warms 1000 sq ft.Revised to two stars because the third one also had a cabinet defect. If you don't care about the cabinet appearance when it works it works..
Lasted a year
August 22, 2016
This heater lasted a year. I used it for a medium size room (10' x 14') and it lasted long enough for the insurance to expire just weeks before.Positive:-It looks nice, discrete-It has wheels (which is great because it is heavy)-Once the room is warm it keeps it cozy.Negative:-It took more than 30 mins to warm up my room.-It took a lot of power: many times I had to turn it off to use another electronic in my room and my energy bill was incredibly high.-About a two months before it stopped working, it made a loud buzzing noise similar to hair clippers.-It was heavy and awkward to carry.Considering how much I paid for it, I expected it to work for more than one winter.
Good for 5 months.
May 7, 2016
I received mine at the end of November. Died at the end of April. As others have wrote, it did Not have the air ionizer feature described THEN, but not in the description now. The company is sending a new power plate for ME to fix. The guarantee is for Parts. If you want them to fix it WE pay for shipping to them BOTH ways! Does better than my Lifesmart 6 element that started to "fade" after 2 winters and covered 4-500 sq.ft. This one takes care of 5-700 sq.ft. I have a high vaulted ceiling, so if you have a 8' or 9' ceiling it would probably take care of 900 sq.ft.
Sorry didn't work for me...
April 4, 2016
It really doesn't heat the amount of area that it says it will.... I'm not has happy as I hoped and the remote stopped working a couple of months ago and not because of dead batteries. My room is 16x20 built 3 years ago with 2x6 construction and fully insulated.
Did not meet my expectations
February 22, 2016
I really researched this heater and thought I was making a good decision. I chose it because my other heater did not have 8 elements, and it does a great job heating the room. Unfortunately one of the casters broke and though it is still usable, it is handicapped. I'm not sure if I got a heater that is defective or not, when I opened it, it seemed that something was rattling around inside, but I ignored it and pulled it out and plugged it up. It just does not do a good job heating the area. My girls say the same thing. I kept thinking, maybe it will get better. Well, it didn't. We are pretty disappointed after what I paid out for it. Yes disappointed.
Not quite what is advertised
February 1, 2016
This product uses a tremendous amount of energy (1500 watts) and produces only minimal heat. After my furnace broke down, I sent off for this heater, and I had it on constantly for several days, but it didn't adequately heat up the large room, as advertised. I had to augment the heat from other sources, the dangerous one that is the oven and eventually another space heater. The ad on Amazon indicates it’s for a large room. But inside the manual are these statements:“This heater is designed to use as supplemental heat in areas most needed.”“Customers with smaller rooms experience quick heat changes. Rooms with larger and open floor plans can expect up to 24 hours to completely heat up.”Those statements seem to be true. It helps heat up a room, but it’s not a miracle cure like it seemed in the ad! It should do quite nicely in a smaller room, but will not heat a large room! It's very attractive though.

Looking forward to using this. These do appear to be second hand products, possibly yard sale. Had $3 price tags on them.
is pretty. NOT RECOMMENDED
January 8, 2017
Small appliances (microwave, space heater) continue to short out the old fuse box despite this device's claims of preventing that. I'd return it but already tossed the packing material. The green on light, which didn't go to red when a heater blew a house fuse, is pretty. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Fine if you also want a very bright nite-light.
December 27, 2016
I bought this to provide some peace of mind because we have an infrared radiant heater in my daughter's room and I wanted some insurance against the cord/outlet overheating. It seems to work just fine. The 2-star review is because the whole thing glows green. I like bedrooms to be dark (Hey! No ugly wife jokes!) This thing illuminates the entire room with a bright green glow that you can't turn off. I have the same issue with any product that has lights or bright displays that remain on. It seems like a very poor design to me.

I received a defective heater!
February 12, 2016
This fireplace could be nice but they are cheaply made and prone to all types of issues. I received my new heater yesterday and was excited. This was shortly lived as the second I set the temp I had to push it all the way up to 78 degrees just to get the hater to start. It was not 77 degrees (closer to 72) inside my home at the time. The heating part of of this product will not and does not shut down automatically. Basiaclly there is tow setting on my unit; ON of OFF.I am so disappointed because I got this right before the price went up 30-40% and I now have a nice looking fake fire without any other function. The amount of time and effort I am going to have to make just to get my money back makes me feel like I was cheated.
Hugely disappointed.
January 6, 2016
Defective. We had to send it back, which was a HUGE hassle. It would run for 1-2 minutes and then shut off. We had an electrician friend look at it, and he said the fan wasn't operating. Hugely disappointed.

UNIT STOPPED WORKING FOR NO REASON. NO RESET. DO NOT BUY.
February 27, 2017
This unit was working perfectly fine. And I was completely happy with it. It was delivered Jan. 10, 2017. I was doing a great job keeping my finished basement warm. Then 2 days ago, it just shut off and will no longer start. Not with the remote, nor by use of the manual buttons. This is now 2 weeks past the "return window", and I cannot return the item. There is no fuse to reset. So now I'm stuck with a piece of junk. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Works about as well as it looks, not well at all
January 14, 2016
I guess one can debate what an extra large room is. I ordered this to heat the area of my living room that is on the opposite side of my main heating unit. This heater didn't do the trick for me. I use ceramic and oil radiant space heaters in other areas of the house and they clearly did a better job than this unit. Also, it is as fugly as pictured. If aesthetics are important to you I wouldn't get this if you have contemporary or modern furniture. Maybe it will work for those with rustic cabins.
The appearance is good. Why only 3 stars
October 29, 2015
The unit is as advertised. The appearance is good. Why only 3 stars? The fan is loud, very loud compared to other units. The green displaynis way to bright and there is no way to dim it.Update: unit died after three month of use. Very disappointing.
