Not for fine sawdust!
September 3, 2017
Ok, so I had this lovely vacuum (the 71B model) for a about 4 years, and it worked great. Suction was strong, and it easily picked up cat litter, and the upholstery head was excellent for cat fur removal from couches and such. It also worked excellent for spot cleaning carpets and its minimal weight made stair cleaning easy. Then, I did a major sanding project with my dining table, and used this to clean up. Don't do that! It's not meant to be a shop vac, and it lost a its suction. I took it apart and cleaned it.Yes, you can take apart the 71B model: remove every screw you see, and then the visor. it may seem stuck together at the brush end, but just slowly and gently pry that end apart. You'll need to pull out the little section by the hose connection to get it to finally separate. Mine was from 2013, and I didn't need to do any drilling or breaking of anything. If you're slow and careful, the parts will kind of show you how they need to come apart, with a little effort. Just don't attack it like a gorilla, it's tough, but I don't think it could take a frustrated tantrum. Putting it back together is the hard part, but be patient and work it the same way you got it apart. Make sure the seams slip back together and no wires are pinched. Remember the gorilla. When things are seated right, it will close up. Don't over force it! Sadly, I think I clogged up the motor, and opening the motor for cleaning was beyond my capabilities. So, the whole vacuum went to the thrift store, in the hopes someone smart can fix it and have a good vacuum. For the great price and quality (when used correctly) I'm willing to buy a new one. I just hope my replacement is just as great as the last one!
Love this thing, have had it almost 5 years
April 3, 2017
Surprised I haven't wrote a review for this yet.Best vacuum everHave had it almost 5 years on the original filter (terrible I know, but I wash it!). Thing takes care of EVERYTHING! Has an absolute ton of suction even with a dirty filter. Have had it through 3 apartments and 2 cats and it is still going. We use it at least once a week to vacuum the couches, rugs, chairs, and cat litter.I am sure at this point we could use another but this thing isn't dead yet! Time to buy a filter and brushes though
Great suction, compact, easy to clean out
April 21, 2016
Why I bought this product: I needed something small and portable to clean up messes in the car and in the house. My daughter can make many messes and this is easy to store, get out, use, and put away. I use this often for cleaning up food that my 11 month old throws to the floor. What I really like: The size and color, it is easy to pack up and store under the sink cabinet. No loss of suction after using it very often for over 5 months. What I really do not like: kind of loudPackaging: My item was shipped right away, and I received prompt notification. I received it on time and it came as expected.Thank you for reading my review, please let me know if you found this to be helpful. I like to know that it is worth my time to write these reviews. Have a great day!
Buy it! ...works wonders!
October 13, 2015
3 months ago we moved from a 1 story to a split level. I have been frustrated trying to clean the steps with my upright vacuum, so I bought this one. It arrived yesterday. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! We are a multi pet household - I watched in horrified fascination as it sucked up the hair and dirt! The carpet on my steps looks brand new and I am thrilled with this product! The dust-bin is very easy to empty and the compact vacuum is easy to store in limited space. The only weakness - it is slightly heavy for my weak wrists - but with it's power? So what! It is well worth the reasonable price I paid!
No longer threatening to trade the dog for a gerbil
August 27, 2014
In the seven years I've owned dogs, I have been on a mission to find a quick way to get dog hair off of furniture and floors, as I love a clean house but HATE spending time cleaning. My current dog has wiry white fur that likes to weave its way into things (like my dark brown couch) and resists a lint roller. This vacuum is awesome for upholstery and stairs (just make sure you have it on the carpet setting and not on the hard floor setting)! It's a lot less clunky than trying to use the pet hair attachments on the vacuum cleaner, and the cord is long enough to do most of the furniture in my living room without having to find a new outlet. The hose is also detachable and compatible with my Eureka upright vacuum's attachments, so you can get into the nooks and crannies on the couch or other furniture. My sectional couch with removable pillows used to take 30 min to get completely vacuumed (granted I'm a little particular), with this I can do it in 10 min or less. It's comparable in weight to a regular stick vacuum, so I didn't find it too heavy as some other reviewers mentioned. If you're of average strength, it shouldn't be a problem.
Sucking great!
April 24, 2012
'Caveat emptor' should be a caution against not just unscrupulous sellers, but misguided buyers as well, a self-warning of sorts. To that end, I read all ~1600 reviews of the Eureka, paying special heed to the three percent or so that awarded it one star. Call this a meta review. My conclusion after a complex and detailed statistical and psychological analysis of the complaints is that the hand-held vacuum was being misused, abused in some cases. After a few months of use, I agree with all the positives: Eureka is powerful & easy to use, the brush enhances cleaning power, the canister is a snap to empty, and the filter creates a nice, tight seal. As for the complaints..."Vacuum stopped working after X uses/N years." That was the predominant complaint, sparks and smoke and vacuum broke. Many of the reviewers who sent their Eurekas to the Great Vacuum too soon seemed to be using them as replacements for full-sized vacuum cleaners: three flights of stairs, several area rugs, hotel lobbies, etc. I planned to use mine to clean up the occasional kitchen spill and kitty-litter dusting--no sucking marathons, just little sprints here and there. Could there have been honestly defective units among these? Sure! I mean, the FDA allows for up to 60 insect fragments per 3.5 oz of chocolate, so a defect in three out of every 1000 Eurekas is nothing to get all huffy and litigious about."Vacuum is too heavy." Again, an easy-to-dismiss complaint for me. Step 1: read product specs and ascertain that product weighs 7 pounds. Step 2: lift a bag of potatoes to get a feel for what 7 pounds is like. Step 3: conclude that I can hold seven pounds for the thirty seconds or so it will take me to clean up the flour and popcorn that have peppered the kitchen floor. Step 4: be pleasantly surprised that the 7 pounds referred to the shipping weight, and that the Eureka sans box weighs (according to my bathroom scale) a featherlight 5.4 pounds. Step 5: determine that if the Eureka were a bar of chocolate, then the FDA would be OK if it contained up to 1500 insect fragments."Vacuum blows dust everywhere." This was perhaps the most serious of the warnings that I read. After all, vacuums need to exhaust all that air somewhere, and I have noticed this issue with some uprights, especially on hardwood & tile floors. I took solace in the overwhelmingly positive reviews, especially those that addressed the suck-and-blow issues. In particular, one reviewer noted that the vacuuming should be done by pushing the Eureka away from you and not towards you since the exhaust was stronger under the Eureka's belly. That's how I vacuum anyway--plus, I identified, since the exhaust is stronger under my belly as well--so I took a chance. So far, there has been no exhaust problem, no blowing stuff around."Power cord is hard to store." As I see it, there are four options for power cord management. Option one: get a cordless handheld vacuum, put up with weaker suction, leave unit constantly charging and sucking power, replace batteries every couple of years once they reach the end of their recharge cycle. Option two: get a short-corded handheld vacuum and plan to spill beans only near electrical outlets. Option three: get one of those internal-storage crank widgets that are a pain to operate or else spring-loaded with an angry and temperamental spring. Option four: to store, wrap the long cord around the base in the time that it takes you to say wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap wrap."Hose suction is weak." Nope, it's strong. The same motor powers both the hose and the main unit. And the hose is ridiculously easy to use, requiring none of the attach/detach acrobatics of most vacuums."Vacuum requires screwdriver to turn on." This must have been written by Edward's younger brother, Johnny Screwdriverhands."Vacuum doesn't work in Australia." Well that settles it then: I'm not moving to Australia.

Little attachments - BIG help!
June 3, 2016
This is a handy Micro Vacuum attachment kit. I use it to clean my:• Laptop• Keyboard• Electrical devices (great with anything that has a vent or fan like the back of my desktop computer tower) A great addition.• Inside my dryer where the lint catcher is stored• Couch cushion crevices• Vehicles• Cabinets• Drawers• Chandelier globe• And moreIncluded in this kit:• Hose (almost 3 ft.)• Adapter• Crevice tool• Straight extension• Bowed extension• Round brush• Elongated brushThis set can actually save you money if you use it clean your electronic devices. Your electronic devices should run more efficiently and that will save you some money in the form of energy savings and by prolonging the life of the appliance. Connecting these micro attachments and switching between each attachment is super easy. I used this set with a Bissell Zing canister vacuum. I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend it. Thanks for reading my review. I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks for reading my review. Fits perfectly on my Kirby. Great buy for anyone who details their car or likes to clean in tight spots.
March 20, 2015
Great purchase! Frankly the design is very simplistic and upon first inspection you will be wondering about the quality, but quality it is. The clear PVC hose is very flexible but doesn't kink that's a huge plus! It' comes with different adapters for traditional vacuum manufacturer hose diameters. I purchased mine to use on my Kirby Ultimate Diamond G and it's a perfect fit!I did try it on my second vacuum, Eureka 4D Boss and the diameter of the hose on this vacuum is a little too big but even still you can use it. As it creates enough suction from the vacuum to pull through the attachment kit.I think this is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon, the fact that it's priced so low makes it such a great deal!
Micro is right!
February 25, 2015
Works great, but when they say "micro", they MEAN "micro". The round brush is adorable at 1/2 inch across.
Great product
January 1, 2015
I own the Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away (NV501) and these work great with it. I did need to use the adapter. The plastic package they come in has pictures showing how to attach the sections but I think many would be fine even if they did not have these directions. For my Shark I did need to use the adapter they provided. I used it to go behind my dryer filter and was amazed and pleased with how much lint came out. Great for hard to reach places in my car that other vacuums never reach. Then top it off with such a low price and I could not be more pleased.
Tiny Attachments save big on Repair Bills
July 31, 2013
So far I've used these attachments to clean around my computer keys and around my two window air conditioning units. There was a visible disappearance of crud when I was done with my air conditioning units. They looked better when I was done, but more importantly, they SOUNDED better (like they weren't straining so much) after I cleaned them. Normally, they die about once every two years and my landlord has to call a repairman out to fix them while I sit in the heat. This summer was especially hot for my area (18 days in July over 100 degrees!) and my air conditioners kept purring like my two kittens. Mind you, I'm somewhat of a nut about regularly cleaning the screen filters (at least twice a month). I used these attachments to clean the metal area behind the filters. They get clogged with dust and eventually shut the unit down. Not any more. I intend to clean this metal mesh area (don't know what it's called) at least once a month during air conditioner season. Additionally, I use the little round brush to dust around the TV/Cable box, and in the bottom of window frames and around fan openings. It's also great for window blinds and around my Cricut.
Great value!
April 22, 2013
Almost paid three times the price on a vacuum manufacturer's website. So glad I held out and stumbled on this set. I vacuumed every little crease, crevice in all three of our vehicles. I then started on every other little space i could think of in our home! This is PERFECT for cleaning out the dust and stuff that collects in kitchen cabinets and drawers. I even emptied a huge jewelry armoire and vacuumed the tiny felt-lined compartments.BTW...I have 4 vacuums (only two of which I actually use on a regular basis) and this fit beautifully on all of them. Shark Navigator Lift-Away, 2 different Hoover uprights and a Bissell upright.

Great suction power price ; disappointed with hose and filter
March 1, 2016
I would have given an extra star for the price, but I know that is frowned upon in many "reviewer" circles, so I'll pretend price isn't part of the equation for my review. I did get this for $36 on sale this past Christmas. This thing is very powerful and loud, both of which go hand in hand. I am glad to take the volume on in order to get the desired power from this small unit.We bought specifically to clean our carpeted stairs, nooks and crannies on the hardwood, and to dust ceiling fans and other "top shelf" places. It does all of this very well. What I wish was different- the hose for using the hand tool. If you set the unit down and start cleaning with the hose a foot or two away, the hose retraction is so strong it literally pulls the unit to you. This is kind of annoying and I fear it will scratch the finish on my hardwood. So I have to keep the unit in one hand while using the hose with the other- the filter. isn't it time eureka make a better filter? and other vacuum makers for that matter. Upon first use I emptied the item and the filter still appeared filthy, with lint and hair and other unpleasantness stuck to it. I don't want to pick at the filter to much as im concerned Ill just tear it. I know these are to be replaced but after a couple of minimal uses its kind of gross, not to mention inefficient to fight through that dirty of a filterProduct = 4 stars, Product plus price = 5 stars
Strong vacuum, nice features, weak brush
March 9, 2015
This vacuum has great suction, and some nice features, but the brush is very weak. The second motor that drives the brush is a tiny little motor, probably DC (I opened it to check because the brush is so weak I thought it was vacuum-driven), and combined with the flat thin belt drive, contact with carpet is enough to stop the brush dead. You don't want to use this on any carpeted surface with any kind of nap, or a fabric surface soft and stretchy enough to be pulled up tight against the brush by the strong vacuum. The nice features are: three-position switch (off, vacuum, vacuum plus brush, AND a spring-loaded push in the other direction that releases the canister, very ingenious design); a short crevice tool that is ingeniously stored in the base; a long cord that easily wraps around the base in a depression that is deep enough to keep it in place; an easily accessible hose that can be easily removed for use along with the crevice tool; a bagless canister that is easily removed and cleaned; and of course the flip visor that is supposed to make it easier to clean vertical surfaces (again, because of the weak brush, this doesn't work so well on surfaces with a nap or soft surfaces that the strong vacuum would pull tightly against the brush).I bought this to remove pet hair from my furniture, but found it to be very weak because of the weak roller brush motor. The vacuum-powered pet hair remover brush on my Hoover upright works better than this thing, which is kind of sad since this has its own electrical brush motor (they should have made it a tooth/gear belt drive to prevent belt slippage). However, I have found a very specific use for this vacuum anyhow, as a stink bug vacuum. Since it is bagless and pulls the air through the filter instead of pushing it, nothing it picks up goes through the vacuum-generating impellor blade and so nothing gets chewed up. Thus, you can suck up the stink bugs without creating a mess or stink.Overall, I like this vacuum, maybe a little better than my very old Royal Dirt Devil handheld (which has better brush action but less vacuum and is more difficult to use since it has no cord storage and the bag is difficult to empty and clean and using the hose attachments is a difficult and time-consuming task to set up). If it had a stronger roller brush, it would be the best little handheld in the world.
A terrific rental!
October 27, 2014
I read many of these reviews. I go right to the negative ones to get worst-case scenario. Most prevalent criticism was overheating. Bought the thing anyway. Figured 7-minute duty cycles was acceptable. Got it today. Pet hair nightmare in this old Victorian house. The Eureka EasyClean is perfect for furniture and stairs. Even if they look clean, a once-over up carpeted stairs will show you how much you don't see. Pretty amazing. I find backward strokes work best with brushes on. The reviewer who said the back part of the vacuum drags on the floor must've been leaning on it like a Tonka truck! Yes, you need to adapt to the instrument and develop technique. This is a very effective vacuum. Another reviewer said the cord was too long for the twist (the place you wind the cord around). That is not the problem I had. When the cord was wrapped, and the plug snap came off of the wound cord securing it, the cable LEAPT OFF THE TWIST! I mean came to life, fully animated, spewing power cable about. Bizarre. But all of that is OK.Problem is:It simply was not built to last.Adding up three 7-minute duty cycles, I can already see fray and wear on the brushes. Especially the outer ones. Not good. I am hearing that you can order parts, but replacing them on your own is iffy. I am game. But I guarantee you, the brushes will need replacement before the filter does.Speaking of which, the filter is a taxidermist's delight. It neatly stacks pet hair in the filter! That is cool. It is also nice that the fill bin is front and center so you can immediately see what you are getting. And all that jive about the exhaust fan? It is not emissions. Emissions would be what you are supposed to be vacuuming up leaking back into the exhaust. Not the case. But the exhaust is fierce. Why? Two reasons. It's a kick-ass little vacuum, and that air has to go somewhere. And, because the motor is so strong, and the damn thing has heating issues anyway, it needs to be constantly cooling itself. So that's it. The guy who said you basically rent it for a few months may have it right. It's sad. Planned obsolescence and all. But when it works, it really works. Eureka should have a recycling program for this unit or shame on them. Or, they could make it more user-serviceable. Or, they could just charge more and make one that lasts. But Eureka definitely needs to make a move soon here.
This Baby is Loud!
September 13, 2014
This little vacuum sucks, in several ways.I spent time researching handheld vacuums before making a purchase. The first time I used the Eureka I was surprised at how loud it is. I didn't know that a handheld vacuum was capable of producing such a noise level, and found it to be very annoying. I turned it off several times just to get a break from it.This is a powerful handheld vacuum with strong suction. It works on upholstery and drapes, but the suction is so strong that it often has to be yanked away from the fabric. It's also a little on the heavy side.In terms of functionality, the vacuum does an amazing job at lifting dirt, dust and all kinds of other debris. I was impressed with the amount it captured.I'm not sure if I should keep this or send it back. It does a great job but the noise level may be a deal breaker._________________________________________________________________________________________UPDATE: I've upgraded my rating from 3 to 4 stars. I was going to return it because I felt it's too loud. I kept putting it off. I finally realized that I really like this little monster and it does a great job.
The Little Vacuum that Could - skip the others, this is it.
May 19, 2014
I have a Rainbow vacuum and came from a family of Rainbow devotees, so my opinion of vacuum cleaners is usually skewed; nothing compares to a Rainbow. Nothing. But this little vac comes close. This beats the pants off some full-sizedI'm thrilled with the following AWESOME aspects:- sturdy, long cord that won't disintegrate with repeated use- light weight and easy to maneuver with one hand! I carried it around for over a half hour up and down stairs with no fatigue- stores easily in closet or cupboard, cord storage built in to vacuum design- great for cleaning up the car and other tight areas- STRONG suction, *easily* more powerful than any cyclonic upright full-size vacuum I've ever struggled with- window view on the front lets you see how full the dirt reservoir is getting- hose and attachments also feature STRONG suction (certainly not too weak to be useful)- can vacuum quite a bit of gunk for a long time without losing power - rugs, carpets, furniture, stairs, dust, pet hair, etc., no prob- easy to find replacement filters if need be (allergen/specialty)- EASY to empty dirt canister and clean/replace dirt filter without making a mess, a major problem with other vacuumsMy only issue or complaint is that the exhaust fan for the motor that powers the vacuum is on the underside of the unit; when you use it for an extended period of time, it blows hot air that can be a little warm if you're already working up a sweat. This isn't a bad thing, per se, but it was unexpected and I was pretty heated up by the time I finished my chores. It can be a little tricky too if the exhaust creates a gust when you're trying to vacuum and it blows dust bunnies away from you. Not a big deal overall. This thing is TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY. I'd pay twice as much now that I've used it.
Great Design - Easy to use
March 29, 2013
This item sat in my wish list for several months while I searched for the best hand held vacuum for money. I finally purchased the Eureka this week and i'm extremely happy. I have a town house with 2 sets of open stairs. We have 4 cats, 1 dog and a guinea pig so the battle to keep the hair under control is always underway.Pros:1) Long cord long enough to go all the way to the top of my stairs2) Riser Visor - allows you to do the sides and tops of stairs3) Crevice Tool - Easily stored on device for corners and floor boards4) Power - My stairs are Animal hair freeCons:1) Item is a bit heavy but manageable. Had to use two hands 1/2 way up the stairs. However still so much easier than a full size vacuum that I'll deal2) Hair clung to the filter making it really hard to clean off. I had to use a paper towel to remove the debris and still couldn't get it as clean as I'd like3) You can't Wash the filter, or get it wet at all for cleaning. I can see having to replace this filter several times.Overall, this is a powerful little machine that is strong enough tackle the zoo of animals in my home. Where I wish it was lighter, i'm afraid that would take away from some of the power. Very happy with my purchase.

Pretty good
April 12, 2017
Almost perfect, does not fit on my Shark vacuum, :( but I had to tape it to stay in place... then it worked fine. I wish there was a longer bendier attachment for the dryer vent
Good value for the low price
March 22, 2017
Good value for the low price. Took me a while to figure out how to make it work with my Shark vaccum and once I did figure it out, it's not a perfect tight fit, but there's enough suction for what I want to use it for ... cleaning keyboards, small places where dust and dirt collects in the car. Used it to clean out lint deep in dryer vent. Worked pretty well.
Smelly, but a useful tool!
July 3, 2016
It works well as a vacuum tool kit. It outgassed strongly for a few days, though. The smell was so bad that for a while I thought a skunk had sprayed outside my basement window. The kit fit my Oreck handheld vac with no issues, and was a breeze to use to vacuum out the inside of a dehumidifier, where normal vacuum parts don't fit.
Fits Eureka 71B. Attachments are very small.
April 8, 2015
I bought the kit for my Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum. Like others have stated it is very small. Good for cleaning small spaces and very light duty dusting only. I thought the extension hose would help me reach into hard to get areas which it does but only sucks up a little dust at a time. A full size extension hose would be much better. The hose and attachments do work well for smaller tasks. The only adapter needed for the Eureka 71B is the adapter with the adjustable suction flow. It fits perfectly on the Eureka hose. The other large adapter piece doesn't fit. To adjust the suction you twist the top of the adapter to open or close it. Halfway is as far as it closes. As others have mentioned you can always tape one or all the holes shut or use your hand to cover them for better suction. Be careful though as it makes the vac work harder and might burn the motor out faster. That's why they put the holes there to begin with. To keep motors from overworking.Hint: Vacuuming builds up static electricity. The plastic attachments could zap your computer so don't use it on the inside of your Computer. Stand alone keyboards are OK, but not a Laptop.
Nice to have it! but it may not fit your vacuum
March 11, 2014
A great addition. I use it on my computer, TVs, PS3 and even on my furnace air filter (20x20x4) which helps extending the filter's life.I was lucky to have a dirty devil power reach hand vacuum and the attachment fitted nicely. However, the attachment did not fit my Kenmore canister vacuum. I had to use tape to hold the attachments. Please see some images that I've attached.
Perfect Little Attachment Kit
April 10, 2012
I bought this since my computer gathers dust and I always have a hard time cleaning it all up. I have tried canned air before which works but it never works long enough for me to get the job done and it blows dust everywhere and a lot of times right back into the case. That's where this attachment comes in. It works perfect for hooking onto your hose and poking all those hard to reach places in your case. I use one of the attachments for cleaning the fans and another for getting into the nooks. I bought it in combination with the Eureka Hand-Held Vacuum, 71B http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HUYGM/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details as suggested by another reviewer. They work great together and the hand-held makes it a lot easier than a full size vacuum. I'd imagine these attachments would work great for other things than computers that you are trying to vacuum small areas but I have only used it with a computer. Now I'm just being picky but I wish it came in a little container to keep track of all the pieces. The pieces almost look cheaply made but are sturdy. The end of the hose was cut a little rough but nothing that affected its performance.

Handy and heavy
October 29, 2017
First, to those who argue it is specified that this thing weighs 7lbs, yes it does. But when you have to use it to vacuum a couch or two (which is specifically what I bought it for) that weight starts feeling like a workout. The brush is not an add on to the suction hose but part of the vacuum itself so still a large surface to cover but not if you want spot brushing a heavy dusty spot.Second I think it should come with a washable filter, the filter it comes with is hard to clean, you end up inhaling much for the dust you vacuumed. in a day and age where we want to have less impact on our planet we need to go washable. The electric cord is nice and long so you can get around pretty far with it.That said, it is a very fair price, and now I know when cleaning the living room couches I get a small arm workout.
Great for Cleaning Stairs, Too Unwieldy for anything else
September 28, 2016
There's nothing exactly wrong with this dustbuster, but I don't like it much either. I wanted to get a wired one because growing up we had lots of issues with batteries on them. Well.....this is too heavy to be a dustbuster and really use like one, plugging it in is annoying, and it's too small to be a vacuum. If I had to go back in time, I'd probably let my vaccum be a vacuum and the dustbuster be smaller and battery powered. That being said, there's one perfect use for this vacuum....cleaning stairs. The vacuume really can't clean them properly and a dustbuster couldn't either. But you get down on your hands and knees, turn on that brush, and you'll make your stairs look like new!
Not bad, not great. Not perfect for anything.

I've been using this for a few months. I like it for the light duty I have around my house, such as vacuuming base boards, under my tv stand, in and around power strips, etc. When it comes to my microfiber sectional, things get a little tricky. As others mention, the brushes have a difficult time brushing. It's difficult to explain, but if the entire brush is against a surface, it locks up as if the bristles are too stiff. The solution i've found is to try and use just half of the brush, by "leaning" the vacuum to a side a few degrees. This gets annoying, however, only using less than half of the width of the opening to actually clean.Another slight annoyance is the hose, when detached, is not very long. It's just long enough to be functional, but you have to be aware the forced air flows out the back, and when you're holding the hose and attachment in one hand, and the vacuum in the other, you're inevitably going to blow around the dust and particles you're trying to pick up!It's also, as others have mentioned, quite loud. Using this in tight hallways or small echo-y rooms is a bit much. The filter also gets unbelievably dirty very fast (with one cat in the house, by the way). The cup actually never seems to collect anything, it all gets stuck in the filter. And since filters are a little pricey, I keep cleaning the filter by hand (and spare toothbrush) until I absolutely HAVE to replace it.While it's good for what I use it for thus far, I feel it'll meet its match should I ever acquire an area rug.I would give this a 4-star, but there are too many little things that keep this from being great. It'd be good for a car, but the attachment is a little too big to get between seats. It's almost as if this has no perfect use, it just can be used in a pinch. I would personally recommend finding a standard upright with nice attachments and decent hose reach.
Filter clogs easily and is not easy to clean
November 5, 2015
I still use this in my downstairs but will likely replace it soon. I have not liked it since first use, but never took the time to return it. The weight is good, the suction is good - at first. The accessories are nice and built right in to the product - unlike my last hand vac where you would have to go looking for the accessory parts/nozzles if you needed them - I love that these are built right in. The detail nozzle slides into a hole into the back of the hand vac. All of that is great. What is a problem is the filter. It's unlike any hand vac filter I have ever seen before and I pretty much needed to replace it after first use. It is difficult to clean. It may sound silly - but if somebody is buying a hand vac, it's likely that they are looking for convenience so any part of the use or maintenance of that product that is open to the description of being "difficult" - defeats the whole point. So I would not buy again. Had I not been very distracted when I purchased this, I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT.
Cleans ok but WAY TOO HEAVY.
March 26, 2015
this eureka easy clean unit works well enough. but it is HEAVY. The product info says 5 lbs but in reality, i weighed it and it is 6pounds, 7 ounces+, with the cord. I just tried it out, and it really made me ache, i was really worn out, after cleaning my 12 carpeted stairs. i will NEVER do that again. For me it is only good for a quick pickup here and there, as the weight of it is a real strain on a smaller boned female's upper body, ETC.This was really hard work - All the bending over and carrying the full weight while moving it back and forth, balancing on stairs..... It doesn't glide, and has no wheels or equivalent. So for me it was a waste of money, since i ONLY wanted it for stairs. Now I will have to get something else to actually use for full cleaning. After it's been used on floors, it's unsanitary to use its rolling brushes next on furniture btw, so that's out of the question.I used it on medium-low pile carpeted stairs. It picked up lots of embedded dust, but it only did sort of mediocre on picking up the pile in the center where people crush it down. The cord was not too hard to handle, but you do have to balance and deal with that too on stairs i understand it's necessary to be corded for good strong power which it seems to have.I will only use it to spot- clean when someone leaves noticeable dirt on the stairs carpet.
Nice but not nice enough!

On the whole the vacuum works very well. However I gave it a 3 rating because: 1) there is a flap that is supposed to keep refuse from going back the way it came in. The vacuum grabbed the cat hair from the couch but when held perpendicular to the floor small items came out the bottom because the flap was not stiff enough to keep all the refuse in. And this was after having used it only one week heavily. ( I have a cat that believes that shedding should be shared). 2) the filter that is used in this unit is supposed to last a long time. However the instructions that say just brush it off did not mention that this should be done outside. You can't just dump this thing out. You can't bang the filter against the side of your trashcan and clean it. You have to brush it and release a lot of dust into the air. I will use it but I will be careful how I use it and remember that I have to empty it outside because of the amount of mess it will make if I try to empty it inside is unacceptable.

Does Not Fit The Shark Rocket TruePet Corded Ultra-Light
July 17, 2017
I ordered this with the Shark Rocket for getting into the small stuff. Well, the adapter does not fit the shark anywhere. So, in order to use the set you have to tape the adapter to the rocket hose in order to use it. Pretty much a pain in the ....If you are planning on using this with the Rocket, look somewhere else. This one does not work.
DO NOT BUY THIS if you purchased the Shark Rocket Corded Hand Vac (HV292)
November 19, 2016
I saw this kit in the "Frequently Bought Together" section. Before deciding to buy the Shark Rocket I looked at some video reviews. One review showed a kit like this that apparently came with the Rocket at that time. I guess you can't say that Amazon recommends this kit but "Frequently Bought Together" seemed like a safe bet.In the photo you'll see what looks like a toilet-paper tube with midriff bulge. That is the adapter between the Shark hose and the reducing adapter (the black object on the left side of the picture). This adapter does not fit in the Shark hose.Actually it kind of fits. It is hard to describe in words – the first half inch of the adapter fits into the shark hose but there is kind of a shoulder that prevents it from going in further. The half-inch section doesn't fit snuggly enough to hold the adapter tightly and form a seal. I used a utility knife and literally whittled the shoulder away and then used pipe-fitter sandpaper to sand the knife marks and create a tapered diameter that now does fit into the Shark hose. So it is usable. If you're willing to modify the adapter, then I would say the rest of the parts are decent quality and do the job. I'm not sure I'll use the little extensions but who knows. The designer of this kit should have put more thought into the adapter so that it would be more universal.I looked closer at the product description and it says, "Fits all vacuums that accept standard 1 1/4 inch; inside diameter attachments". I measured the inside diameter of the Shark Rocket hose and it is 1 3/16" – 1/16" inch smaller than 1 1/4. That's why the adapter is too loose. The first 1/2" of the adapter must be slightly smaller than 1 3/16". My whittling and sanding was what did the trick. To be fair, this kit isn't meant to work with the Shark Rocket. But the Amazon "Frequently Bought With" picture has fooled more people than just me. They should remove that picture.
It can work if you can work it
December 23, 2014
A big part of the utility of this product is based on the vacuum you are using it with. If the vacuum isn't strong enough, then the juice to the micro attachments will be too weak to do much work. If your vacuum is too strong, then attempting to connect these tiny pieces could really damage your vacuum motor. But somewhere in the middle, this product can do some decent work. The biggest tip: When using the funnel shaped piece, do not try to twist/turn/unscrew it so that it seals! It will never seal. it is designed not to seal. It's basically a regulator to allow proper airflow so that the vacuum motor doesn't bust. If you manually seal this (ex: duct tape), your micro-attachment will be much more powerful for about the 30 seconds that it works before your vacuum overheats and stops working all together (this didn't happen to me, but before calling the manufacturer to learn more about the piece, duct tape was my first thought. Resist that urge at all costs). The other thing people might not know: These are seriously MICRO. Think about cleaning a doll house with them. That's how small they are. Reviews have mentioned cleaning your car with them... These are almost too small to clean a car. This literally can slide into your air vents and clean inside them. But if you're talking about the space between the seats and the floor, there are much bigger attachments that can fit and get the job done.My favorite use so far is cleaning out the dryer vent (especially the part inside the door), and this product did great at that.Overall, this was an inexpensive product. i only break it out maybe once a month, but it's handy to have around when needed.
An inexpensive novelty that works okay
November 26, 2013
For the money this kit is okay. It does not easily work with my Hoover Windtunnel. It only attaches to an extension rod, not to the main hose. But I did get dust out of tiny crevices on a clock. It will be a long time before I use any of the kit again due to the awkwardness. I will haul it out for tiny places but suspect that a duster or swiffer will be faster and probably good enough. After some years of not using this kit I'll probably throw it out in a few years.
a few instructions would have been helpful
December 9, 2012
I purchased this to be an attachment for our great eureka hand held vac which we earlier purchased to vac carpeted stairs. I thought this little inexpensive attachment would be handy. and it would have if I could figure out exactly how the attachments work. the coupling which you use to connect the small hose provided in this kit to your vac'c main hose, has several open slotes, holes, in it. these reduce the vacuum force to the small hose and thus attachments. the coupling does have some adjustment in size of these holes, but at its smallest setting, it significantly adversly affects the suction to the attachments. I duct taped over these slots and it works fine.maybe I don't now the proper way to connect, but a one page printed instruction sheet would have made it less of a mystery. pretty cheaply made.
It does say, "Most vacuums."
October 11, 2011
It does technically fit my Eureka Air Speed bagless vacuum, but that's not to say it actually attaches or fits by itself. I place the attachment part into the hose of my vacuum, and as long as I hold it, it fits. This isn't such a problem for me, since I don't need to move the vacuum cleaner while I'm using this kit. I have to hold the hose, anyway, so I just hold it where it attaches. I need something for tiny jobs like my keyboards and other accessories, and it does do the trick. So I am keeping it. But I can see where it would be annoying for other users, and it would be great if the product came with a list of vacuums it is compatible with. Since you can't really hold it up to your own to judge the size, the buyer should be aware that it may not fit. It still works better for me than canned air.

PROS don't outweigh the CONS in my opinion
March 30, 2017
I want my old Dirt Devil rotating brush handheld back!!! Sadly, it's not repairable 😩CONS (start here because that's why it's being returned after first and only use:1. Primarily..Very difficult to move back and forth on the carpeted stairs, which was the main reason for purchase, and no, I did not exert pressure while doing this. It literally took both hands to propel the vacuum forward. The backward motion is easier than the forward motion. The bottom plate is plastic, not metal, so doesn't slide as easily. Also, the edge where particles get taken into vacuum is more of a sharp angle than a curve (possibly another reason is difficult to push forward?) Easier to move if tilted slightly upward but then you lose most of the suction.2. The brushes seem to be spaced pretty far apart, taking more repetitions to do the job.3. Fabric filter had to be brushed to remove dust/lint/hair, despite being tapped repeatedly against trash can to dislodge the stuff.. looks like that would have to be done every time cup emptied.PROS1. The suction is great.2. Especially liked the rotating cover to easily do backs of stairs.3. Liked long cord.
Wide handle, need 2 hands to hold. Dirt clings to filter, dust cup stays empty. To messy to clean out
January 18, 2017
I am a Eureka fan. My house vacuum is about 15 yrs & still works great! This little vac, does have good suction power, but is very bulky to use. I think it is only 4lbs, but seems heavier. It is big & does NOT roll smooth on the stairs (compared to the old red bag dirt devil). I have to use both hands to balance it while doing the stairs. The handle is to wide, & not comfortable to hold, another reason to use my other hand to support the bottom. The cord is a nice length. The shield that you lift, that allows you to vacuum the stairs is interesting, but again not comfortable to use holding the vacuum. The wrap around hose seems nicely placed (didn't use). I vacuumed 3 stairs & noticed all the gunk was collecting on the filter. I took it apart & found nothing in the dust cup. I pulled the stuff off & tried again. Same. I called customer service, what a waste of time, he had no clue what vac I was talking about, even when given the name & model. I probably could've called the public library & gotten more info from them. Anyway, he just was clueless how the vac was supposed to work. I continued with the stairs. When I finished 3 flights of stairs, I took it apart & "NOTHING" in the dust cup. All the hair & crap was stuck to the filter. I had to take the dust cup (which contains the filter) outside & try & clean it off. Yup, it had dust, & all that fine gray dust, lint crap that continues to appear, no matter how many times you vacuum or clean your house. I spent 10 minutes outside (brrr January) trying to clean the filter off. I got off as much as I could using an old toothbrush & my fingers. This is not how I imagine using a brand new vacuum, by going outside to empty it. If I was to empty it in the house, it would have made a horrible mess. It does come with a crevice tool, which you attach to the hose, to do your car, but I didn't waste any more time trying that. Apparently this is not the vacuum for me, to hard to handle, to messy.
DID NOT EVEN LAST A YEAR
November 25, 2015
It has been one year since I purchased this vacuum. The rotating brush does not work and has not worked for over 6 months, the hose got a tear in it and we have used electrical tape to stop the air leak and continue using the vacuum. Now the motor has quit! That is not a good expenditure of money for one year of light use. We would not buy this again, nor recommend it to others.
Not so Easy
November 16, 2015
I use this each morning around my cats litter box - it was my main reason for this purchase. This vacuum feels heavy and sturdy. The angle of use is a little strange because you have to keep it flat on the floor to get a full suction rather than at a more natural vacuuming tilt, unless you release the hose from the top and use that. I don't really care for running this along the floor like a toy train, and you can only adjust the plastic directional cover for a front facing suction area - not a use for me. The sliding top button is a little too flat for my "girl" fingers and moving it to the forward-most position, that turns on the power brush, makes it harder to slide back to the off position. Suction is ok, but still misses some bits of litter requiring more passes, filter can't be washed but it can be brushed off, it's also pretty noisy. I'll keep this one till it breaks and then look for another style of vacuum.
Motor started smoking after two years of very little use
September 30, 2015
I purchased this from Amazon but it must've been under my husband's account ( that's why it's not verified). I loved this hand vac for two years. It was great on stairs. I had to cut hair out of the brush often but that's true with any vacuum cleaner. Then after two years the motor started smoking. This should have lasted longer than two years and the motor catching on fire was just scary. We did not use it that often and only used it for easy jobs like vacuuming the stairs. And of course, it was out of warranty.
Good suction but leaks too much
November 5, 2014
This vacuum has good suction but blows a lot of the dust and dirt right back out the rear end. I use this mostly on carpet floor mats, and although it does a pretty good job of picking up the dirt it also leaks terribly around the filter cup and especially through the cylindrical storage slot for the crevice tool. In fact, when I remove the crevice tool from the vacuum to use it for cleaning hard to reach areas a heavy cloud of dirt and dust blows out the storage hole while I'm vacuuming. This makes it pretty much useless. I'll probably cover the crevice tool storage hole with duct tape to continue using the vacuum for floor mats, but I'll be replacing it as soon as I find a better option.Update Nov. 17, 2014: Eureka contacted me due to this review, and after I described the problem said the one I have must be defective and offered to send me a replacement vacuum. I'm impressed that they care enough about customer satisfaction to read these reviews and take action to remedy problems that customers have with their products. (Definitely 5 star customer service from Eureka). I'll change my rating of this product from 2 to 5 stars. I haven't received the replacement vacuum yet, but I don't expect there to be any problems with it based on the good reviews from other consumers.Update Dec. 16, 2014: Back down to two stars. The replacement vacuum that Eureka sent me leaked just as bad when I tried it out the first time, and I've discovered that the problem is a design issue. I removed the filter cover to see where dirt could be escaping and found that the whole wall of the vacuum under the clear plastic filter case was covered in dirt. There's also a thin gap in the seam of the vacuum's yellow casing, so this is where dirt is getting sucked inside the vacuum, (There is a seal around the filter cover to prevent this, but it's not very effective). This explains why dirt escapes from inside the vacuum housing all along the seam and through the port where the crevice took is stored. I covered the part of this seam under the filter cover with electrical tape, and that has considerably reduced the leaking. I think Eureka could easily fix this issue by installing a gasket along the seam of the vacuum housing and increasing the thickness of the seal around the filter. I can't really recommend this vacuum until Eureka improves the design.

I purchased this with the primary goal of cleaning out the lint trap of my dryer.Frankly this doesn't do it, the hose while flexible and does get into the lint trap. Lint itself gets stuck in the tube (its too narrow) and suction just stops.Maybe this will be good as a CPU / keyboard set but i rather use compressed air for that.

December 5, 2014
It would be nice if this came in some type of casing so that the parts weren't so easy to lose. also in order to get serious suction with it I have to put tape over the adjustable intake thingy. Otherwise is still is not concentrating all the focus through the tube. I don't know of anything else that does the job better, but as soon as I find it I'm trashing this. The parts are pretty cheaply made. Im using mine with an Oreck Vac that has the shoulder strap and advertises it can pick up a bowling ball. People may have a different experience with a different vac
The hose attachment does not fit my hand held vacuum
May 6, 2014
I ordered it along with my Black and Decker Platinum Flex handheld 20 v Lithium vacuum and no matter how many times I have attempted to use the attachments the hose doesn't allow the vaccum to pull up any dust. I am using the attachments that came with the Black and Decker even though they are too large to fit into the places I was hoping to clean.

Broke after 4 months
September 28, 2017
The brush no longer works which means all this thing does is suck. Literally. No manual to check/replace belt is available on the Eureka website, no parts list is available, the Eureka website online chat system doesn't respond, the website warranty registration won't accept the entry, The thing was never more than marginally effective but that was to be expected for the price. Breaking down after only 4 months and no response from Eureka was not. It seems this thing is just another cheap piece of Chinese-built crap. Sure am glad I paid for the extended warranty that I can't use.
Don't waste your money

Does not work well at all. Loud and very heavy, does not get into corners at all.I'm very sorry I wasted my hard earned money on this. Used this for quite awhile to try to give it a real test but I'm now just so disappointed.Do NOT recommend !!
Rollers don't work
January 11, 2016
Works great, except for two big issues. First, its incredibly difficult to shut off from the spin position. I'm talking makes your skin raw. I've resorted to using something rigid to click it off. I think this happens because the switch you use to release the bag is the power switch, and basically when you have it in the roller position the switch is wedged in as far as it will go. (and I don't think its just a case of me being weak as I am a 33 year old male whose is a recreational rock climber)My second issue is the brush roller. 90% of the time it does not work for me. I have tried cleaning the roller off multiple times. Basically the trick I use to get it to work is to just smack the side of the roller on the ground, hard. After enough hits, it works again! I will not be buying another one.
broke after a few uses
November 19, 2015
I ordered this vacuum in late August. I only used it a few times to vacuum a carpet staircase in our home. After just a few uses, it no longer works. First the on/off switch froze up making it nearly impossible to turn on/off. I had to use a screw driver just to turn it on and off. Then one time when I was vacuuming the staircase a few days ago it stopped working. The return window was only 30 days. It barely lasted 90 days. I'm disappointed with this purchase. When I first got it, it seemed to work well. I bought this model because it had so many reviews and such an overall high rating. Perhaps I got one with a defect?
one fatal flaw: inaccessible belt drive
May 26, 2015
UPDATE: when the belt dies, you gotta throw this thing out. See pictures, ridiculous. $60 down the drain, thanks Eureka! Designed to fail where any other vacuum just puts an access panel to clear or replace the belt.Have had this vacuum almost a year. It was purchased for cleaning carpeted stairs and around the cat box. It's heavier than expected, which can be hard for some. The cord is necessarily very long to reach your destination, but with no wrapping or internal storage which can make it cumbersome to store.I've had it almost a year with light usage. First thing that went was one of the hose parts (seem cheaply made), but to their credit Eureka CS promptly sent me a replacement.Recently we noticed the belt drive brush wasn't spinning. I went to look for a plate to gain access and there didn't seem to be one. Before I went tearing into it, I called Eureka to find out if I'm just stupid or is this thing not designed to easily access the belt area (which routinely needs replacement or cleaning on vaccums). Oddly, the user manual was barely useful for much, basically telling you a general model number and the certifications, no details on maintenance.Today I found out that this thing is designed so that you need to tear apart the entire casing (8 screws and godknowswhatelse) in order to get to the belt area. I had to beg them for schematics so I can see if I can fix it. From an engineering standpoint that seems ridiculous and dangerous. From a consumer that paid about $50 for this thing, that's the last Eureka vacuum I buy or recommend. It's obvious to me that that they designed in quick obsolescence, how many consumers want to attempt to tear apart an entire vacuum cleaner just to get access to the belt? Eureka offered to send me a list of "vacuum repair shops" that I can pay to access the belt- ridiculous. Amazon is now selling this brand new for about $35, why would I pay a repair shop maybe $30 to tear down and reassemble this nearly year-old POS?While I had such reluctance from Eureka's Customer Service getting me schematics, he was quick at the draw to tell me about three other vacuum cleaners he could sell me to replace this garbage one which is still under warranty. That's a page out of Hewlett-Packard's playbook- sell you defective ink then use that failure as an attempt to upsell to a new printer!I'm not biting, Eureka. I'll tear this thing apart and do my best to fix it. I'll have a long talk with the buying agent at the vendor that sold it to me. And when it finally dies (or maybe before), I'm spending the extra money and buying a Dyson. I love, love, love my full-size canister Dyson and am sure their handhelds are also built with that same level of proper engineering.Eureka, shame on you.
Read this if your vacuum isn't working
January 19, 2015
At first this machine, which we have had about a month, seemed to be everything the 5 star reviews said it was. After maybe a week's use (we don't use it every day) it wouldn't run for more than a few minutes before overheating and stopping. We found out from the manufacturer that the reason for that was the filter was plugged. Looking at the filter and certainly looking at the plastic dust cup you would not have guessed this could be the case. Nonetheless we changed the filter and it was back to working albeit 2 hours and much aggravation later. This plugging up and heating up is a drawback but it is not insurmountable if you have two washable filters so one is always clean and ready.Today however we had an experience with the machine that seemed to make it worthless--an experience I am surprised no one else seems to have had. It had been gradually losing suction and we couldn't figure out why and today it just stopped. We bought this machine to vacuum up small particles, ash and the like around our fireplace so we figured the filter which clogged up pretty fast was getting most of the debris. Turned out that little hose through which all of the suction and therefore all of the debris must travel became completely impacted with fibers, dust, ash, tiny bits of wood. It looked as though almost nothing had been going into the dust cup; rather was stuck the hose. Furthermore, since the hose does not come completely off the machine, it was ridiculously difficult to remove this compacted material. We are hoping, however, the real problem is not with the hose but is with the filter that came with the machine. This filter has a small flap on it between the hose and the dust cup. All we can figure is that there is not enough suction to suck the flap open and allow debris through. This is not the only filter that can be used on this vacuum and I am not sure why Eureka even sells it for this item. The replacement filter which Amazon sells and is like the one that came with the vacuum is not manufactured by Eureka at all. Foolishly I bought one of those! FYI the Eureka filter that will not have this problem is DCF-11 Filter 62558A.So I am giving this thing a low mark because after 4 hours fiddling with it today I hate it. It gets this rating from me until I know it will vacuum without collecting trash in the hose. We will be using a filter that doesn't have a built-in impediment between the trash and the trash bin.

no suction because the adapter doesn't full cover holes. the holes are supposed to be "suction control" but you could hardly call it that. i bought this to mainly clean the lint out of my dryer. clogged the first time, im assuming due to poor suction, and became unusable.
Horrible smell like car oil
May 5, 2017
Horrible smell like car oil. Made my house stink like motor oil. Called customer care from Shark, I had to call 4 times because when I would ask for a supervisor they put me in hold for 20 minutes I don't know if they are sending me another one or not. I would. It recommend buying this item.
I did not get any use out of this item.

Had to return this because it did not fit my vacuum cleaner. Took a loss too the return shipping was more than item.
Doesn't work for me
October 7, 2015
A waste of money spent. No way can it adapt to the Black and Decker PHV 1810. Supposed to be universal, maybe in some other continent but not in the USA. Another online purchase that appeared useful but when you get it in your hands, you know you were taken. Nothing like going to the local store and reviewing in person. If you see it won't work you don't buy it. On line is a risk and return is time consuming and challenging.
Caveat Emptor:Really lillipution kit or nano rather than micro
August 6, 2015
this item is not really described adequately by the seller , although somewhat accurate words are used, these words are overly and inaccurately used and hence lose their true meaning or one thinks that perhaps they are being misused.. Although the attachment kit is titled as micro, it really is MICRO as in doll like, its hard for me to imagine what vacuum it is actually for. unfortunately customer reviews were less than helpful, where some people claimed it worked on certain shark vacuums, as shark also sells regular sized vacs as well one placebo like wishes it to work for your own situation but of course when it arrived the pieces were so diminutive that a more accurate description would be nano rather than micro or even doll (barbie sized) which is not to say some poor wishful fellow would then not still order it. as it is there is 1 plastic piece I can use but the price paid for it thus hardly seems justified or fair, certainly if I had comprehended the lillipution dimensions of this kit I would not have ordered it. Yes that is the description that would accurately and succintly convey the real dimensions of this kit i.e. lilipution (as in gullivers travels) Of course this description if updated might cause less customers to order it which might be detrimental capital wise in the short run.
Literally Stinks!
April 15, 2015
The kit of vacuum tools just arrived and is now sitting, Outside its box, Outside my front door.It reeks!Worse than standing next to the pump at the local gas station. I bet other products I buy are made from a petroleum-based plastic, but nothing I've ever owned, except maybe car tires, ever smelled this bad! We'll see how it does after 12 or 24 hours out in the open air. Probably kill off any bugs that were hanging around. Unless the stench wears off, I'm not letting it back in the house.
