Perfect Pant
July 3, 2016
The Columbia Saturday Trail Pant is the best fit for comfort! They stretch in every direction, are lightweight, repel water and the short length is actually short! (I have a 28" inseam.) What else could I want? They are BY FAR, the most comfortable hiking pant I have tried. I am 5'2" and have 36" hips and a 27" waist. The pant fits low on the waist, which I find to be the most comfortable. On a recent trip to Scotland, they kept me warm and dry, perfect for summer hiking. On some walks, the rain was blowing sideways or we were walking in a cloud. I never felt any of it through these pants. The snaps are good quality and the zipper is smooth. I have not tried putting anything in the pockets so I cannot comment on that. I will purchase another pair.
SAVED MY LIFE
May 4, 2016
I go hiking every day... Today was my second day wearing these lovely pants and the day that will solidify my love and appreciation for these pants.

This morning I encountered a rattlesnake nesting ground. While attempting to turn and make a mad dash for my life, I make eye contact with a tan rock like shape to my left.

By the time I got out of the area, I went to take a snapchat of my encounter. During, I felt a sharp pain in my leg like I had gotten scratched. I look down and pull up my pants to see a small scratch and red mark. I got freakin bit by a rattlesnake!

After seeking medical attention and being assisted by a park ranger... we can all attribute the lack of actual puncture to the pants I had on today.

Thank you so much Columbia! I'll be buying more very soon!

These pants are SO comfortable. Went camping in them when it was super muddy and rainy. As soon as the mud dried on the pants, it wiped right off! It was fantastic! Everyone wanted to know how I was staying so clean and comfortable.
incredible pants!
April 28, 2015
I love, love, love these pants!
I usually don't wear such sporty styles but needed something for my vacation where I was going to do A LOT of hiking.

When these came, I was extremely happy to see no gaping around my waist. My measurements are 26/38, and I always have to deal with either waist band too lose or hips too tight. The pant fits almost perfectly over my curves! I tried 4p and 6p and could use both. 6p looked more relaxed in the hips while 4p had zero gap in the waist. There is a gusset in crotch so no seam in the way. I noticed that the gusset looked more natural with pants less stretched over hips. It folded and created some bulk with smaller size. That made me choose 6p.

I took these pants and two pairs of capris (same brand, same style as the pants) with me on vacation and found myself never wanting to take the pants off. OMG, they are SO comfortable! They got very dirty in the canyons and I hand washed them in a hotel sink - yes, I wanted to wear them that much!

The fabric is very soft and stretchy. The side pockets are sewn to the main fabric and therefore don't bunch up. I wish they did the same with the knee pocket. The zippered knee pocket is very useful for little things that you don't want to lose and don't want to bother you. I kept my hotel room key there. There are two backside pockets as well.
I wore silk long underwear under the pants in mid 30s temp and was not cold. I wore the pants alone in 70s and was not hot - they actually created that breeze feeling around my legs, so I didn't even want to wear my capri (and didn't bother to convert these either). Oh, and the convertible function is so discreet - you would never notice. That adds to the stylish casual look - pants don't look sporty. Did I mention the awesome flattering fit? Also, the fabric is very thin but not cheap thin. It's great! And it gets softer after washing. Oh, I forgot to tell you - stains come right off!

Can't say I like the picture here. It does show the true fit through legs but I feel like the rise is not as low as shown. Also, the picture has somewhat masculine feel. I didn't notice that in person. The fit is incredible and very feminine and flattering. The pant is very skillfully tailored actually.
I fell in love with these pants and ordered another pair as soon as I returned (in different color).
Don't mess with the zip-off version! Get these instead!
March 18, 2015
I tried on close to a dozen pairs of pants searching for the ideal convertible pair for an upcoming hike of the Camino de Santiago. For a while, my front-runner was another version of these exact pants (same brand, same everything) that have zip-off legs. With that pant I ran into the same problem as many other reviewers- the fit and fabric were flawless, but the zippers had ZERO give and squished my thighs when in motion. I am 5'8", 128 pounds, with a thigh circumference of about 17-18" when measured two to three inches above the knee (where the zippers were). "Gosh," I thought. "I wish they made a version of that pant without the zippers." Well, lo and behold, I found these pants. They roll up and snap into place to make capris instead of shorts, but I am willing to live without a shorts option given my expected hiking conditions. I wore these pants on a ten-mile hike right out of the box and they fit great and moved with me. Looking forward to taking these on my hike.

2 long great for a size 0 with long legs
November 3, 2017
These pants fit as expected and are great for long inseams. I have long legs and I'm 5'9 about 110 lbs (lean/skinny/tall). The size 2 long fit great. I am able to fit a baselayer under these if necessary. I wore them this summer at Denali national park in Alaska. They are the perfect pant for hiking! They block the wind well and do well from a transition from cold/hot weather. I didn't ever roll them up because I'm not into that look...you do you though! ;) I recommend the shark gray color. I wore them with a black jacket.
Love the long length!
September 26, 2017
At nearly 5'10, the long length is welcome, so welcome! Love the breathable fabric. The color is great to my eye, although certainly has much more yellow in it that a typical "khaki" color does. The wash well, and dry quickly without much wrinkling. Looking forward to hiking in these a lot this fall.
Soft, thin and comfy; fit nicely
August 16, 2017
The size 8 Regular fit my 5'7", 140-pound body nicely. The material is thin, soft and stretchy where it needs to be in the knees. The pant legs easily roll up without being tight. The material is quick-drying. The front pockets are deep enough for large wallets or phones but the rear pockets are shallow, deep enough for keys. These pants are ideal for the office and on a hiking trail although cactus thorns could easily snag on the material.I will definitely buy more of these in several colors.
My go-to hiking pants from now on.
July 18, 2017
Due to my odd figure, they were a bit tight on the waist but otherwise, these were great for hiking and traveling. The quick dry is really awesome for an overnight hotel room wash and for when you get caught in the rain.
Great pants. Fit perfectly
June 30, 2017
Great pants. Fit perfectly. Super light and comfortable. I love the style that doesn't look too much like an 'outdoor enthusiast' attire (kind of sick of it really) - i can wear those almost anywhere. Thank you Columbia for making comfortable clothing that looks elegant enough for everyday use.

September 27, 2016
Run a bit small but currently my very favorite pants. I wear primarily Army uniforms, jeans, and hiking/outdoors pants like these from various brands (North Face, Gander Mountain, Columbia, etc). This pair is soft, "convertible"(has ability to roll up and be held in place), lightweight (I live in Texas), and are fairly rugged (lasted a trip to Big Bend NP trudging through all kinds of thorny plants and cactus and slides down rocky hills). I'd buy another pair if I could find them in my size again. I normally wear an 8, these were a teeny bit tight around hips/thighs compared to usual Columbia fit). Recommended

Versitile, lightweight pants-to-capris!
August 30, 2017
These lightweight, stretchy pants were great for hiking on a cool morning that turned warm. I was hesitant, having received Colombia pants and shorts as gifts before, and having the waist be very tight for the size. But these fit well. The side-leg pocket is the only one with a zipper, and it is very accessable. The larger rear pockets only have a small bit of Velcro to secure it, and I felt nervous putting anything in there, for fear it would fall out the unsealed portion or the Velcro open entirely. If my phone had a "grippier" case I would've felt better putting it there, as it fit well in the pocket. The buttons to hold up the pantlegs into capris were so discrete, I almost couldn't find them! The are concealed and small. I needed 2 hands to access the button and secure it. I was very happy with this purchase, and may buy more colors. Fabric and style don't look to "technical" and can go from trail to town.
Better than I thought
August 3, 2017
I recently got to use these pants on a trek up Mt. Fuji, during a heavy down pour. Unfortunately I did not prepare the rain gear typically used by seasoned hikers, so I got somewhat drenched. I have to say that we had to spend the night in a cabin and that within the 5 hrs that we slept they were almost completely dry.
They are very light weight and at times felt a bit clingy, but overall pleased with their performance. I am embarrassed to say that I fell on my butt a couple of times on the way down due to wet conditions, and no scuff marks were left.
For future, will get a size smaller since they do have some stretch to them, and were too large in the waist.
A little short in the waist
April 12, 2017
I'm tall 5'10" and the waist to crotch could be longer. It pinches a bit. The overall length is great.
Way too small size 6 is really a size 2!
April 6, 2017
PROs: Received these pants quickly. They are good quality. Seams are all solid and the snaps are strong. Fabric is thin and stretchy.

CONs: I ordered these in a 6 short. Normally I wear a size 6 in Express or American Eagle jeans. I'm 5'1" and weigh 125 lbs. Based on Columbia's own size chart I should be a small 4/6. The pants I received, labeled size 6, were at least 2 sizes too small. With the pants on, the snaps we're a good 2 inches apart. There is no way these pants are a true size 6. My daughter who wears a size 4 said they were tight on her. sadly, I'm returning them.
Have 2 pairs - Love the shorter inseam and stretchy fabric, sadly they pill and don't hold thier shape.
July 11, 2016
My review is similar to many of the others here.
I'm 5'2" and 105lbs. I feel like I have a bigger butt/hips than most girls my size as I am really not comfortable in a zero or 2P. For those that don't know - Petite sizes run big....a size 4P is equal to a 2 regular (I get ankle pants in a 2 regular and they look like regular pants on me). Some Columbia pants are Petite sized and some are just shorter inseam - I think these are petite, because I bought a 4 and a 2 and the 2 fit, but more snug than I like my hiking pants so I kept the 4. I did find they tend to stretch out a bit after a few hours and this leaves the waistband of my undies showing by the end of the day - though a 2 starts out to snug.. :(. As for the length, they are acceptable. My inseam is 28" and these are a tad long but work since my hiking boots give me a bit of height. I am just grateful for an shorter inseam - I swear pants are getting longer each year. The waste is a bit big on me, but there is enough material that I may buy some snaps and find a way to take in the waste a bit (I think my waist is about 25-26") - even when holding them up I can tell they are a bit of a low rise and the cut is not for an hourglass shape. I'm a solid hourglass and like I said, by the end of the day my undies are hanging out. Not something I'd wear around a lot of people. They do pill as others have mentioned, but the material is quite stretchy which is wonderful in hiking pants. I never feel bound in these. The pockets are fine depending on your use. Since the fabric is so stretchy the pockets tend to sag with heavy items - my phone fits in the front pocket but then my undies are hanging out again so I can only use the pockets for things like a tissue or a receipt.

I have lots of suggestions for improvements but I do have 2 pair of these. They are not my favorite pants, but I am so grateful for the shorter inseam. I have only a few pairs with the shorter inseam and I am so grateful that in recent years mfg's have noticed that not all women can dunk a basketball! I have a pair of north face pants that used to be my favorites but with out my boots on they are a good 3 inches too long. I love the shorter inseam, stretchy material and smooth fabric (although it does pill).

One reviewer asked about pants for a long plane rides, I've slept in these before. I find the stretchy fabric quite comfy although I do wish they'd hold their shape and not stretch to a larger size by the end of the day.

Fits as Expected
August 22, 2017
I haven't worn them outside yet, but as a 5'9" 133# woman, the size 6 fits as expected. If you wear a 6 at J. Crew or The Gap, or sometimes a 4 at Ann Taylor, the fit will be the same. They fit me the way all women's pants fit me; fine over the hips and gapping at the waist. I can crouch down and lift my knees in these without constriction, the gusset in the crotch is a good feature, so I expect they will be nice for moderate hiking. I only wish they had more and better pockets, then they could be perfect.

July 12, 2017
This color fit a little big. The blue fit a little small I kept these ones. I would prefer a zipped leg pocket to the hammer loop but bought as lightweight travel pants because of the discount sale price.
Solid crossover pants. Sizing is off. More straight-leg than pictured.
September 30, 2016
I like these pants a lot! The material is lightweight and stain-resistant, although there is no stretch to the fabric and limited flex to the design. The Amazon pictures are slightly misleading, as the cut is very slender in the thigh and leg; they're more of a skinny straight-leg than I'd hoped. Note the darts at the knee to make the legs more fitted. The sizing does seem a bit odd - based on my measurements, Columbia's size chart puts me in a 6. I bought the 4R in these and found them to be a bit roomy. I normally wear a 2-4 or XS-S, depending on brand. For referencexample, I'm 5'5", and at the time of these pictures, my waist measures 27" and my hips 37.5", with a 31" inseam. The 4R's waistband and thighs fit comfortably snug, but these pants are oddly roomy in the front of the crotch. The zipper doesn't lay flat, which is a bit annoying. I tried on a size 2R as well - I could fit into them, surprisingly, but the waist and thighs were too snug for my taste.Overall: well-designed, sturdy pants that cross over well from hiking to casual streetwear. Sizing is a crapshoot, typical of any women's clothing. Good luck!
Love these for my shape.
September 25, 2016
I bought a 10 which is normal for me these days. I am an athletic build and about 10 lbs overweight. These fit my waist well but are almost too tight in the thigh area. They are a great weight for spring, summer and fall. I love the length, I am 5'7" and are great with a boot or hiking shoe or clogs. If you are skinny waisted and thick thighs you will not like these. They are for more apple shaped gals.
The color is really nice.
August 9, 2016
I knew from past experience that most Columbia pants are narrow through the hips and thighs so I ordered two sizes up. I probably could have fit one size up, but I wanted it looser on my thighs so opted for two sizes up (plus it was $20+ cheaper for the larger size). Pants are loose around the waist but a belt should fix that. If you are curvy you definitely need to order at least one size up. BTW I think the white shirt paired with the pants in the cover photo make the Lion color look less than appealing - but I was pleasantly surprised when I received them. The color is really nice.
Mixed feelings on these pants but a great value if they fit
July 27, 2016
I'm a big fan of Columbia clothing for long-lasting outdoor gear at a decent price. But, boy, it can get frustrating getting a proper fit, because it varies so much from style to style and item to item. So I couldn't resist these pants at the bargain price and bought the blue and the sage in size 10s & 12s (I'm 5'4" and wear size 10 in pants & jeans). I tried on the 10 first and felt they fit properly in the waist and length, but they did feel a little "off" in the crotch and snug in the thigh. Then I noticed there was a difference in the cut between both colors. The sage was snugger and about half an inch longer in the inseam. So I reordered them, and once again it feels like each one fits a little different - I think they might be seconds? Anyway, they're still a great value and it is hard to find the short length, so I'll keep the better-fitting of the two pair and send the other 2 back. I'll just use them for canoeing or hiking on groomed trails where it won't matter if they're a little snug in the legs.8/21/16 sizing update- I have now ordered all 4 colors in 10 short. The snuggest fit is Cypress (green), particularly around the thigh. Nocturnal (blue) fits as expected at the waist, just a tiny bit snug at the thigh. Lion (chamois beige) and Pulse (gray) fit slightly large in the waist and average in the thigh.

Material pills in a short time
September 6, 2017
These pants fit great, are lightweight and very comfy. BUT, they only look nice for about 5 wears. Then the material gets all balled up and it looks old and tired. That is fine if you only wear them hiking and for working outside. Don't expect them to stay as nice as they are when you get them for very long.
Great versatile pants but...
August 29, 2017
In general, I really like these pants. Sizing is my only serious issue, minor issue is they wrinkle easily. The sizing has been a frustration for me I order my true size and either they fit great or are too tight. I finally began ordering two sizes and returning one if necessary. These tan ones only were available in the larger size so I got them and they are too loose. Saved in the winter box for wearing with leggings underneath. All considered, still one of my favorite pants!
Disapppointed in quality for the price.
August 16, 2017
These are name brand pants with I would think would hold up better than these did. Purchased these for camping, hiking, kayaking trip. I have wore them twice and the crotch seams are coming out. They fit good so it's not an issue of too tight Poor quality of sewing. Paid too much to have to resew the seams. Won't purchase again.
This is not a good choice for hiking
February 21, 2017
Pretty good pant, very comfortable. doesn't wrinkle much, doesn't take up much space in a suitcase, and looks good, all of which makes it a good choice for traveling. But this material snags pretty easily, so I wouldn't call it a trail pant. They should call it a travel pant instead.
Tiny front pockets.
January 22, 2016
My husband has some Columbia pants with the same material that he loves and I was hoping to get something similar for myself. Unfortunately, the women's version doesn't seem to be made as well. The front pockets on these are teeny tiny.

I love these pants but the fit isn't the same as other Columbia Pants
November 10, 2017
I loved the look of these pants and the fabric is great. The problem is they are too large in the waist, so large I can pull them off without unbuttoning them. They are a size 4s, the same size I always buy in Columbia Pants. I am 5' tall and 107 lbs. I can't go down a size because they fit perfectly in the thighs and hips, and aren't stretch fabric.I'm so sad to have to return them. Thank you Amazon for offering free return shipping and a refund to my credit card.
And the material was nice and the color was pretty
October 4, 2017
These were too tight in the thighs. I'm 5'5" and 125lbs. The size 4 fit everywhere else. Disappointing because I'd assume many women buying these pants have muscular legs from hiking or other outdoor activities. And the material was nice and the color was pretty, but I just can't buy an outdoor pant that fits tighter than some of my skinny jeans.

September 3, 2017
These are weird, the legs are very snug in a 14 long, but the waist is huge. So to have a comfortable fit, I had to get the 14 because the 12 and 10, which fit in the waist, we're unbearably tight in the thighs. I do love the color.

August 22, 2017
I have slender legs but these pants were too tight in lower thighs and through the knees making it not a good fit for hiking
Runs a bit large
September 5, 2016
I ordered a size 12 because I wasn't sure how it would fit but it turns out, it ran a little too big. The material is sort of thin and is easily stained...It's comfortable though, nonetheless. Just remember to order a size smaller.
Nice but could fit better
September 2, 2016
I like these pants for the most part and they were comfortable on recent 7 mile / 2,000 + foot elevation gain hike. I think they could be better proportioned for women's bodies. The hips are slightly snug and the waist is too big. When I bend down I have to be careful of the backside sliding below my shirt waist. I like the deep hip pockets when I'm standing, but sitting makes them too tight for much more than a tissue. They fit well in length.

August 14, 2017
Review from my daughter: Within the first wear - the seams started coming apart in the pockets and waist band. Within one wear -- the fabric stretched so much they looked very baggy and I needed a belt to keep them up. The size 4 short fit great at the beginning (and I wouldn't want something smaller to start) but they looked like a size 6 or 8 by the end of one day.

They feel great when you first put them on, but after about 24 hours, they're baggy, and coming apart. I wouldn't recommend others get them again.

Lightweight, cool, comfortable--except for the waistband. Seriously, Columbia: trail pants made with lots of stretch for hiking also need a bit of stretch in the waistband, otherwise they bind under a pack.

February 25, 2017
I bought several pairs of these a couple of years ago and loved them. Now they are cut so low that I can't stand it. It feels like if I bend over they will slide off my hips. Really disappointing.
Disappointed with the fit
November 7, 2016
I wasn't keen on the color when I bought these, but wanted to give it a try. I'm not even a size 12 in pants but these were WAY too snug around the waist, resulting in muffin top, unfortunately. And because they were too small, the fabric almost became very thin in the thigh/bum area - which looked terrible with this color. I expected better quality out of Columbia, honestly.
You might get a true-to-fit size; you might not. . .
September 15, 2016
I tried on a pair of these at REI and they fit fine, but they didn't have the color I wanted, so I ordered them on here. I like Columbia products, but one thing I'm finding is that their sizing is quite inconsistent (on most products, not just pants). The size 8 at REI fit just fine, but these were too small, especially in the crotch. Stupid me, I got so busy with school (I'm a teacher, and I routinely work 10-12 hour days) that I forgot all about them and now it's too late to return. GRRRRRR. . . What a waste of money.

I was surprised to see the item when i got it. It is way too large for me. The sizing as displayed in the chart is quite confusing. I dont think it is true the sizes being displayed. I like the material because it is light weight plus the fabric is nice. The sizing disappointed me. I will have to return this for sure. I Woukd like to get a new one but i dont know what size for me to pick based on the chart.

DON'T waste your money.
September 16, 2017
I bought these for my trip in September. Columbia is supposed to be a good brand name. I wore them three times and discovered on the third the zipper has split apart. I was not rough with them either. Extremely dissapointed and feel cheated out of my hard saved money. They're worthless now and since I bought them so far ahead I can't return or exchange. So much for paying for quality. If I could give a zero rating I would.

Pants run smaller than size indicated on label, and they are definitely not "Tall" in length. And after washing and drying them, I now have capris to wear.
