Five Star Reviews: | 75% cramps were so bad I had to call for a ride December 15, 2016 This'll get lost in the mix, but I owe them enough to write it. I got these pills for biking. Do they work? Yes. I did a 44 mile loop 3 times with them and 1 time without them. The time without them I couldn't finish, cramps were so bad I had to call for a ride. The 3 times I did it with them I didn't have a hint of cramps (or fatigue, really) even the next day. They work. Also.. Years ago, I ran on the treadmill. I got to the point where I could go 60 minutes .. but I'd have to wait 1 day between runs. I was cramped up pretty bad so every other day was the best I could do. (that was when I was 43 years old) Now I'm 47. I haven't run in 3 years (I hurt my feet and they took a long time to heal..) and just getting back up to 60 minutes at a time.. and with the pills I'm running EVERY DAY. When I'm done? I shower.. and forget I did anything. Zero fatigue, zero cramps. Next day? Back on the treadmill ready to rock. The one time I forgot? HURT after running and couldn't do much the next day. BUY THESE PILLS NOW. I'm getting more (on my 3rd bottle) and wouldn't even consider doing anything without them. LOVE THEM. Great Product! It really works! October 14, 2016 This product really works. First tried this during a 15 mile trail run in very hot humid conditions, and it saved me bonking. I've used it since then and it works well every time. Start taking it the day before if you're running in hot and/or humid conditions; and, even if you're not, you still need the electrolytes and this is a great way to get it. I think the price at about $20 a bottle is ok. It is a little difficult to find in bike or running stores, but it is worth the effort tracking it down or buying online. I take 1 about every or so during a marathon at a water stop, and take it with whatever other gel/beverage/block etc that I might be taking. Wash it down with plenty of water or beverage. The best thing you can say about this product: It works!! Endurolytes keep my legs feeling strong all day long May 27, 2016 I attended a fueling seminar held by a pair of triathlete coaches whom recommended this for long periods of exercise. I am an avid cyclist and often do Gran Fondo events and century rides. I would cramp and legs would feel heavy in the later part of the rides. I tried these and was blown away by how well they replenished the electrolytes lost during intense cycling. I now take two or four per hour when cycling and I feel strong throughout my rides. Just the "right" amount of electrolyte supplementation. December 5, 2013 I use these during and after every long run. It could be a complete placebo effect, but I feel better several hours after a run if I take a couple of these during the run. From a nutritional standpoint, they are better than other electrolyte supplements because they offer replenishment of more common electrolytes over many other products that give you only sodium and potassium. Electrolyte imbalance is a fuzzy science, and which ones you need (and when) will vary from person to person and from day to day. That said, these seem to offer a good amount of each, without going overboard on any of them. Of course, "good" is a very subjective term, but I like to think that these provide just the necessary amounts of each to keep everything working. Working WELL is up to you, as these are supplements, not a replacement for proper eating habits. In other words, Endurolytes might give you just enough Chorlide or Potassium to meet a basic requirement for function, but you'd be wise to find an actual source of these nutrients on a regular dietary basis. Solved the mystery of the terrible post-run nausea! February 20, 2013 I have been running now for about 8 years. About an hour after my long runs (4-7 miles), I noticed I would get a terrible flu-like nausea that would last for about an hour. It was horrible and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out it was an electrolyte deficiency! I thought I was dehydrated but for some reason my body expels electrolytes like crazy so now I take 2 of these electrolytes after a run, usually along with Gatorade, and I am good to go. I am so relieved to find out what was causing me such sickness. Hammer's electrolytes have no calories, sugar or other additives which I like. I would recommend these to anyone, especially to people experiencing the strange post-workout symptoms I had!!! | 67% LOVE this Electrolyte Powder October 11, 2017 This is a great product. I have tried the raspberry and loved it so much I got the orange and cherry pomegranate is on order. The raspberry is FANTASTIC! I usually don't like berry flavors, but this one is great. The orange, no so much...it smells like tang, but "Bites" the tongue and leaves an after taste. I'll finish the orange, but stick with raspberry and see how the cherry pomegranate tastes when it arrives. Not sure why people complain about the price. Sure, it would be nice if it were a little cheaper, but consider the fact that you pay more for a bottle of chemical based electrolyte drinks in the stores and this is far more portable and takes up less room than a case of store bought bottles and it isn't so bad. superb new formula! September 23, 2017 from good to great! ...... the drawbacks with the old formula have been entirely resolved with the new formula!86ing the maltodextrin and increasing the magnesium, potassium, and sodium, to now contain properly balanced amounts, have made for an ideal replenishment formula! ... i had routinely added sodium to the old formula and brought, along on my bike, other supplements that were high in magnesium and potassium for long rides… now, no need, as all the electrolyte requirements are met in this formula!… truly excellent!... and, folks using this new formula should notice a significant reduction to minimal or no cramping!👍🏼 . well done, Ultima!very pleased, Thank you. :-) same serving amounts so I was happy to see Ultima using more appropriate packaging August 26, 2017 I haven't used this for a while, and recently ordered some again. I was suspicious when it came in a small box, as the old container was bigger. When I opened the box and saw the new container, again suspicious, because I have heard much about Amazon selling Chinese knockoffs...but...same serving amounts so I was happy to see Ultima using more appropriate packaging. Unfortunately I did not read the directions, just dumped as I used to, and WAY TOO STRONG. But yes. Immediately noticed a different flavor. Which, sad to say, I do not like. Definitely saltier. And tastes like they added citric acid for some zing. I liked it before because it WASn't zingy! So, I now have 90 servings. Will use, and see if I get used to it. Disappointed.UPDATE: Sorry this took so long. A testament to how quickly we are negative and hard it is to be positive sometimes! I did actually read and follow the directions the next time I used this, and SO MUCH BETTER. Excellent smaller package and smaller dose, same great experience as the old one. Someone here wrote a review about Bikram yoga, which is where I heard of this first, and I will concur, it really changed how I experienced and recovered from the hot yoga. Enjoy! And my apologies for a bad review the first time , my own fault. Love it! July 4, 2017 I use this almost daily as I am living the Keto way of eating and need to keep my Electrolytes up. Love the taste!! So far I have tried this one, and the raspberry and both are really good!! Even mixing the two makes a yummy drink.And.. as a side note. If you find you like to have an adult beverage, this makes a great mixer. ;) Decent Tasting Electrolyte April 29, 2017 I was looking for a sugar free electrolyte drink and this product meets that requirement quite nicely. I find that I am actually drinking more fluids since the flavor is decent and it is easy to mix up a batch for my hiking and tennis activities. Will definitely buy again. New Formula Looks Good. April 5, 2017 I received a canister of the new formula today. I went "Whoa!" smaller size and less weight, what gives?" I had the same concern as Shana. Then Iread Loretta's comment. More bang for the buck indeed. I always added a little salt to the drink anyway and I'm glad for no sugar and more potassium. I will try it with confidence. Update: I now have tried it. I like the taste and new formula. |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Good product June 25, 2016 I open six capsules add to my gatorade in my water bottles on my bike and go. I used the product today and I felt great, so I will continue to use. If you are in a hot climate this product will help you. Love using these during long endurance bike rides August 10, 2015 Love using these during long endurance bike rides. They really help with preventing muscle cramps and prevent me from getting dehydrated, even when it is 90+ degrees outside (obviously pair with adequate amounts of water for full effect). I'll admit too, my friends and I have used these before going to bed after a night of wine drinking or day of tailgating at college football games and they seem to help get through the next morning as well haha A Must Part Of My Runs/Rides While Living In Rain Forest July 27, 2014 I am not sure if its psychological or if physiologically due to these tabs or a little of both, but after i have started to use them I feel like my exercising and performance and recovery time seems to have drastically improved. Lets paint the picture, I am roughly 6'1" and 235 lbs. I currently am doing an expat for work for a few years in Singapore which is roughly on the equator in Asia in a very humid and tropical rain forest climate. I roughly (5) times a week do trail runs and/or mountain bike rides in jungle for anywhere from 1-3 hours per outing. Having done roughly the same thing prior to using these tablets it would be very painful towards the end, and on rare occasion i would feel light headed, even though i would drink tons of water. Adding these supplements seem to have improved both my physical performance both in time and distance and my post exercise recovery seems to be better as well. My process is that prior to exercising I take a Hammer Nutrition Endurolyte Pill and then use the NUUN Tablets in my camelbak as well as adding to my post workout cooldown water consumption. Reason for the (4) is that when I break them open to fill water bottles the taste is kind of blah, where as the NUUN tablets have nice flavor. Doctor recommended, but he's MY doctor, younger and better conditioned. Results could be placebo effect ... or not. July 26, 2013 I've been having difficulty managing longer hikes and hot weather lately. I know I don't drink enough before and during my hilly walks. I don't like lugging around all that water (8 pounds a gallon), and drinks like Gatorade give me have way too much sodium. So my doctor, who happens to be a cyclist on the same trails as I hike, recommended Hammer Electrolyte Capsules. Today was the second day that I tried them, three before my hike, three after the first hour, and two after the second hour. I drank a total of 16 ounces of water. Well, I didn't feel like passing out and I was not out of breath. That's a positive change from the last four weeks. I really can't say that these electrolyte supplements did the trick. After all, I'd need a control group, and right now with my issues, I'm a group of one. This could be a placebo effect because my doctor recommended them, but I'm smart enough to know that my doctor's in a hell of a lot better shape than I am AND he's 23 years younger. Not a good comparison. In the next five weeks, the plan is for around 20 hikes, although 13 of those will be done on the coast and in much cooler climes. I'll report back. If I finish all of the hikes, this will get 5 stars. | 12% I really like this stuff September 21, 2017 I really like this stuff. Our water filter basically filters everything including most electrolytes out of water so we drink this a couple times a week to make sure we are healthy. Taste really good. My kid loves it. I like that it has no calories also because if I am wanting something sweet but have already met my calorie budget for the day I can still have a lemonade. Lasts a long time too. We have 3 people drinking it and lasts us a good month at least. Good, not $17 good but good. August 23, 2017 It's ok. Nothing amazing. I like it for its potassium content. It is a bit pricey though. I think too pricey. May avoid purchasing in the future just on that alone. I would like to see this in the $10 range. Then I would pick it up regularly. Until then this was a one time purchase. They should drop the price and make more profit off of volume and returning customers. Tastes ok. Works well. July 28, 2017 I've now tasted orange and grape. Both are ok tasting. I only drink them when they're very cold and with 24 oz of water instead of the 16 oz recommended. They do what they say they'll do and the natural electrolytes are great as opposed to all the chemicals in the other like drinks. I also appreciate the zero calories. Good taste July 15, 2017 I never had the old formula, but I very much like the flavor of this-- it's like propel or gatorade/powerade, but definitely has a more natural flavor to it as well. I've only tried the cherry pomegranate so far, but I will definitely try the others in the future. My only gripe is that, after having mixed for a good while, some powder does settle to the bottom quite quickly. I just make sure to give my water bottle a shake, or keep a spoon on hand to re-mix the drink every so often. Pretty common with powdered drinks, but I wish the powder would stay suspended/dissolved a little longer. Still, not going to keep me from buying again! Not too sweet!! June 4, 2017 After reading other reviews I was hesitant to purchase this. I'm sensitive to sweet drinks and don't care for them much. I needed a zero calorie electrolyte replacement without all the additives, and this was rated top ten on google. Let me say, it's not too sweet at all. I purchased the grape and when mixed per the directions (one scoop plus 16oz water) it tastes like watered down grape koolaid. It's barely sweet at all. I only gave it four stars because it's a tiny container for the price. I should have read more on the size before buying. New Formula Underwhelms. January 13, 2017 As a long time user of this product, I must say I am not enthusiastic about the new formula. It does taste different from the previous version and not in a good way. I assume the slight shift in ingredients explains the flavor change. The ad identifies maltodextrin as the chief difference between the two. I have confirmed the absence of maltodextrin by comparing labels from the original version and the new formula. In any event, the new flavor does taste the same or as good as the previous version. Since taste is subjective others may disagree. I will continue to use the product for now as I need the electrolytes and believe the product delivers when it comes to maintaining hydration. |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Not convinced June 16, 2017 After years of avoiding these, I finally decided to try them in a race I've done three times before. Even though the event was only about 3.5 hours long, I typically get leg cramps in the last 30-45 minutes. I took 1 before the race and 5 during the race (mixed with my sports gel and water). Unfortunately, I couldn't tell any difference. Still had cramping in almost the exact same spot in the race and in my legs. Like before, I was able to ride through it. Really can't say I noticed any difference. Seems like an expensive gimmick to me, though most racers I know use them. I've been using these pills when cycling and I have ... April 17, 2017 I've been using these pills when cycling and I have not seen a difference. I have not seen any negative effects so I guess the jury is still out. Thought this would be good for muscle cramps after workouts but found it was ... February 18, 2016 Thought this would be good for muscle cramps after workouts but found it was problematic for sensitive digestive system Worth a try if you run distance January 4, 2016 I like these for during or after really really long runs. I would only recommend them for people who are training for full marathons or ultras. I'm only giving them three stars though because they made me really sick. I am sure they work fine on most people but I have a very sensitive stomach, so I would just caution all buyers to be aware if they have a sensitive stomach. It's better than nothing June 1, 2014 My husband works in 100 degree weather several months out of the year where he's sweating constantly. He hates Gatorade and wanted something he could take with his water that would hydrate him better; something cheaper than SmartWater. He tried these a little at a time and said he couldn't tell any difference in how he felt. He gradually upped the dose taken at one time and they nauseated him. These didn't work for him, but if you don't have a sensitive stomach, they may work for you. | 6% The new formula does not taste good. I liked the older formula for the taste May 21, 2017 The new formula does not taste good. I liked the older formula for the taste, as well as the electrolytes. This formula also does not dissolve and remains clumpy. The old scoop, with the long handle, is much larger (looks like almost twice the size...someone said they were the same size). The only reason I am buying this formulation is that the price of the old formula is much more expensive. Taste is fine. Use of Stevia for sweetener was why I ... April 10, 2017 Taste is fine. Use of Stevia for sweetener was why I was attracted to this product. Used it in the past when the powder wasn't so finely ground like flour. The "new" formula, which comes in a smaller canister since it's supposedly more concentrated in the new fine powder formulation just doesn't dissolve well. It clumps up and you need to use in a shaker to get it to dissolve. Okay. Not for medically compromised people. March 20, 2017 Like, but not crazy about the artificial ingredients. Prefer not additives flavors, and more electrolytes, such as the Biopure product. I have lots of sensitivities and cant use daily. Beware-reduced size December 6, 2016 I have purchased this product several times before and the 90-serving size was 13.97 ounces. When I re-ordered this last time, the container that arrived seemed like it was half the size of the previous ones. The new one is 10.8 ounces. The scoop seems the same size, so I'm wondering what happened to the other 3 ounces. Not disgustingly sweet like so many products October 23, 2016 Tasty. Not disgustingly sweet like so many products. I like to mix the lemonade and raspberry flavors. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I had gastric issues with this product. A friend of mine had no such issue and considers it a very good product. I do seem to be a bit sensitive to maltodextrin so maybe that's the issue. If you are concerned I would suggest picking up a few individual serving packets at the store and trying it out first before buying a large bottle. Meh... probably won't buy it again, but I'll finish the container off. September 17, 2016 The taste was not as amazing as I had hoped, but not disgusting. Definitely had a little bit of the aftertaste of a drink w/ artificial sweetener, but I am pretty sensitive to that flavor. At least it wasn't chalky or anything, but I probably won't be buying it again. It's not bad blended with a banana and some water for a healthy post-workout refresher. |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% The product works great, 5 stars February 19, 2016 The product works great, 5 stars. I have used it for years for endurance running and its helpful, especially in humidity. The two stars are for the fulfillment from this vendor. They are not supposed to have a smell or taste, The bottle I received smells and tastes bad, and it's getting worse. The product still works, but the taste is terrible. It took me a while to realize the pills are probably rancid, this is confirmed by the other comments about the taste from others. This is probably my fifth year of using these pills and they have never smelled before. I've used too many to return them at this point. Do order these for any endurance training, but pick a reputable fulfillment company to buy from. Two Stars July 13, 2014 Not as much electrolytes as I would have wished. Check the amounts very close. It does not work June 8, 2014 Used it. It did not stop my cramping. I actually feel stiffer when I take this during a long run. didn't help w/ cramping May 30, 2014 Bought a bottle of these based on some positive reviews regarding preventing cramps. However, these did not help out at all with the cramp-attacks I would experience after ~2.5hours into an MTB ride. Someone else recommended Sportslegs which worked wonders for me in keeping the cramps away. Couldn't really tell the difference. April 10, 2014 Couldn't really tell if this was working or not. This probably works for some people but not me. Gels work better for me. | 5% High disappointed in this product July 15, 2017 High disappointed in this product...the taste is alright I can drink this all day BUT...it doesn't dissolve completely. No matter the temp of the water I mix it in there is white residue on the bottom of the cup. It bothers me so much. I can't get past it. Different April 5, 2017 It does the job, however the formula tastes different. It tastes fake, like supplements or minerals. Is it a new formula or did I get a bad batch? New formula doesn't taste good. March 3, 2017 New formula doesn't taste good. The company's explanation for why the change was made doesn't address why the flavor was changed. According to the ingredients on the container of the new formula, they are no longer using Stevia as a sweetener. I can only assume that the new flavor is cheaper to produce. I can't say I hate it. February 23, 2017 Not a fan of the new formula. I've been taking the Grape flavor for years and would drink it multiple times a day. Now, I can barely finish one serving. Will try and buy as much of the old formula that I can find. The flavor just seems less natural. I can't say I hate it... but just don't like it. New formulation February 15, 2017 New formulation does not taste as good as the previous formulation with stevia. Please make the old formulation available again. I don't like the taste of the new raspberry formula January 7, 2017 I don't like the taste of the new raspberry formula. I'll stick with orange or buy the old formula if I can. |
One Star Reviews: | 6% it smells bad, original expire date was july 2016 June 21, 2017 I WAS ROBED!!!!!! Dont buy this item, i received a relabeled expire product, it smells bad, original expire date was july 2016, and i purchased it on january 2017, i was robed!!!!!!!! One Star April 4, 2017 Wow, can't believe they just relabeled an expired product, WTH! Not what I expected! I had horrible leg cramps before taking this product and still had ... January 2, 2015 Does not work. I had horrible leg cramps before taking this product and still had horrible leg cramps after using this product. I went and bought a bottle of Potassium and a bottle of Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc and started taking one of each every day and viola, no more leg cramps since. Sorry I wasted the money on this. Are these placebo? December 17, 2013 They don't work at all, and you have to take a ton of these pills in order for them to work. I felt like I was going to overdose because I kept getting cramps on a motorcycle enduro race. swithched to Sicaps and these did the job well | 10% Look elsewhere April 18, 2017 I so badly wanted to like this, but I couldn't get past the taste. Once mixed it's VERY thick, it reminded me of drinking Benadryl. If the texture was gone, I probably would have kept this. But the thickness makes it undrinkable. The new formulation is a step backwards March 6, 2017 I cannot agree enough with the other reviewers about my displeasure with the new formulation. I have used Ultima for over fifteen years for endurance training in sports and for rehydration during a day of hard work. I will now be actively searching for a replacement. I have read the manufacturer's replies to the postings of other reviewers. I do not like sickeningly sweet drinks which is why I liked the old formulation so much. I believe the manufacturer has created a new equivalent of Coke Classic; they have replaced a product which people like with a new, less desirable product. I am very disappointed with the new formula February 22, 2017 I am very disappointed with the new formula! It tastes totally different and I don't even want to drink it. I've been drinking the grape flavored Ultima for years and recommended it to so many people . Just wondering why you changed the formula? I want to return it. The price also has been increasing. This last time it increased by $5. Stains the water bottle February 5, 2017 This is a new formula. This formulation stains the inside of my water bottles an ugly yellow. Nothings seems to remove this stain. This product causes diarrhea and flatulence. This product should not be consumed. The New formula is too sweet and don't dissolve as well as the old one December 31, 2016 The New formula is too sweet and don't dissolve as well as the old one. I have been using Ultima Raspberry for years but I will not purchase this product again. I have contacted the company and they say they are working on yet a newer formula... Definitely, this is not worth the purchase. we absolutely loved this product and now are utterly disappointed October 11, 2016 update your description ultima replenisher supplier!!this is not the 13 oz jar!!the ingredients have changed and now has more potassium and magnesium in it! the taste is not the same as the 13oz jar. we absolutely loved this product and now are utterly disappointed. |

User Overview
Close, but Ultima Edges Nuun
Ultima tastes better, and that was the deciding factor. Both replenish and energize, although Ultima has an edge ingredients wise. Very, very close contest as I enjoy both. Ultima score: 96 Nuun score: 93CornfedABQ NM
