Five Star Reviews: | 82% For the money you can not go wrong May 24, 2017 I am a guy that does a lot of auto repair out of the house (a whole lot). I do it to supplement income as hey we all. Need multiple streams of income these days right! My guys in the shop spend $400 plus on the Mac and Snap on tools I would tell you this keeps up with them just fine. I decided to go with Aircat again as my older Aircat gun was a little weaker than what I wanted (5 years old and still works great). So I would be very happy to tell you in my eyes the company has a proven track record of quality as far as I'm concerned. You want a great gun at a fantastic price yes pull the trigger on this one and I am 100% sure that you will be happy with this purchase. This thing is a bad boy February 17, 2017 I don't know much about pneumatic tools, as I'm just getting into them.. this seemed like a good heavy duty tool in my price range. I asked my diesel mechanic friend after I got it, and he said it was a boss. Best test so far is removing 15 year old rusty shock bolts like it was nothing, dialed in at 90psi! Life Saver November 8, 2016 I rarely write reviews, but felt this product needed another 5 star rating. I have been doing car work for years without this tool, and now I'm not sure how I lived without it. Up until just last week every bolt I put this thing on was instantly pulled off, without missing a beat.Recently however my girlfriend took her car to the dealership to have a tire rotation done, and they ended up cross-threading on two of the lug nuts. You can imagine my surprise when I put this wrench on the first lug, pull the trigger, and find the lug still on the wheel. I give it another quick pull of the trigger, and still the lug remained. I slightly increased my air pressure and then pulled the trigger for several more seconds, and finally the lug nut came off.Except, it didn't. Upon closer inspection I found that this impact wrench literally sheared off a grade 10 wheel stud. And it did the exact same to the next cross-threaded lug nut I put it on. Without it, I would have had to somehow drill out the lug nut and wheel stud, likely destroying the wheel and/or hub.Oh, and I used it to pull in the new wheel studs without issue as well! Great Gun!!!!!! September 30, 2016 I have waited quite a while to write this review, because I wanted to put it through the paces. I am in a professional shop and use it daily. Not just on cars. Tractors, tractor trailers, heavy equipment and the like. This little gun hits harder than any 1/2" impact I have ever used. it will remove nuts and bolts that our old 3/4 inch gun won't event try to move. I have used it daily for over a year now and I have not had any problems. I have used some of the expensive brand guns (I won't use any names) and they have got nothing on this baby. We also purchased the 3/4' Aircat as well. Great Guns!!!!! have not got to use the 3/4 as much, because the 1/2" does the job that the 3/4" used to do. I love it, Highly recommend it and intend to buy another for the shop. one for myself as well. For the price, you can't go wrong. Oh, and it has a grease port on the front that you can grease with a needle and you can buy repair kits for them for very reasonable prices. I have not had to repair 1, but it is an inexpensive option. if you are wondering....wonder no more. Buy it, you won't regret it. Very Pleased with Aircat 1150 1/2" Impact Gun. June 9, 2016 As a Prime Member I received my 1150 AIRCAT yesterday less than two days after paying for it. I was anxious about this purchase, so quickly put it to the lug nut test on my Dodge RAM 1500. I have them hand torqued to 100 ft lbs and the 1150 removed them with ease. A a result I give it five stars. Before making my purchase I took a long time reviewing a lot of impact gun reviews and you tube videos. As far as AIRCAT I was struggling with a choice between the AIRCAT 1150, the NitroCat 1200-K and the Nitrocat 1250-K. Double clutch, or twin hammer were other considerations. I do a majority of my own car and truck repairs and for years used a 1/2" impact wrench that would not remove lug nuts, brake calibers bolts, and certain suspension parts. I would have to hand brake them, and then use the impact driver. I am very pleased with this twin hammer impact wrench and confidant that I made the correct decision. At $172 it was also less expensive than the 1250-K at $210. BTW I also purchased a Neiko 3/8" Drive Mini NK1 for $90 and plan to use it for smaller work. The Neiko 3/8" Drive Mini NK1 did loosen the lug nuts but it took a while. Worked where others failed February 21, 2014 So there's these two 36mm axle nuts, they didn't want to part from the VW they were well attached to after the car has been sitting for at least a decade. I tried every trick I know, penetrating oil, hitting it with a hammer, getting it red hot with a torch, a 6 foot breaker bar, and a impact wrench which claims 450 foot lbs.The Aircat 1150 took those old axle nuts off within a couple seconds, I expect if they hadn't come free, either me or the car would have started to spin.Nice to know that if I need something to turn, it's gonna turn. | 84% There are no reviews yet | 67% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% Lots of power July 8, 2017 First I bought a cheap all metal Husky impact gun from Home Depot. I had to turn my air pressure up passed 100psi before it would start to loosen lug nuts that I had tightened by hand to 80 ft/lbs, and it still didn't get all of them off. After that, I decided to do some research and bought this Aircat. I haven't had any super rusted fastners to test it on, but lug nuts flew off my car with my regulator set to 60PSI. Make sure you use a large enough diameter hose and fittings and This will do the job. Great for the "weekend warrior" March 11, 2017 I started off my "weekend warrior" tool arsenal with a harbor freight impact wrench. It worked OK but I wanted more. This IS more. When removing stubborn rusted nuts either it will or it will shear the threads right off. Either way the part comes off. It seems to do this with less air consumption than my Harbor Freight tool as well...A helpful hint is to always use the shortest line possible with least amount of flex in the line to remove the hardest of nuts/bolts. It is also advisable to use the least amount of attachments on your impact wrench. Killer Torque at a good price! August 7, 2016 This impact wrench had the power to pull and install wheel bearings with my OTC Hub Tamer kit, where my trusty Ingersoll Rand 231C could not muster up the torque. The IR 231C has been a mechanic's favorite for decades - it is one tough and powerful impact gun. It has been the only 1/2" air impact I ever needed, until I had to replace some pressed in wheel bearings on a Subaru that had been driven a lot in snow/salt. I was considering the Ingersoll Rand Thunder Gun, but have read a lot of good things about the AirCat 1150. So, I saved quit a bit of money and took a chance on the AirCat. So far, I have no regrets. It is lighter and more quiet than my old IR 231C along with being more powerful. Of course, the plastic housing is part of the reason, so I don't know how well it would hold up in a professional shop environment. But for the weekend mechanic like myself, it is fantastic. So far so good March 26, 2015 Been using this on a little 110v CH ~5 gallon air compressor while my 80 gallon is getting hooked up. Not quite the power I was expecting but I know my little compressor isn't able to keep 90 psi at the gun for more than a few seconds at a time so I'll re-evaluate once the bigger compressor is up and running. I really like the build quality and the styling. its a great gun but not perfect. February 25, 2015 I've owned this for almost a year and put it through heavy use daily. I started with a 1/2in bokalt, it had medium-strong torque. would work 75% of the time n would shoot out air the other 25%. I paid almost nothing for it at a pawn shop so i wasn't expecting much. I got this next cause I wanted something around the same caliber as the snap-in 1/2in, but not cost as much, and not as loud. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone from professional mechanic to do-it-yourselfer. It is quieter than the snap-in, and I.R.s I've used, but has around the same strength as the snap-ins n IRs. To me the IRs are strong but have too much free spin when you release the trigger(can tear up some rubber gloves if your trying to move too fast). The free spin on this is one much more reasonable, though. I gave it 4 stars because the snap-in selector lever, in my opinion, is the best. Changing directions constantly seems to aggravate me with this gun. Its also kinda on the heavy side compared to other impacts. Also... I dropped it on the floor(3-4ft) and it jammed up on me. It was sent off for repairs I'm patiently waiting on its return. Its not cheaply made but its not indestructible either. Once it had a hard time with a Honda crank pulley bolt so we got the snap-in and the snap-in had a hard time too. Had to use a chain wrench. So... its a great gun but not perfect. Very good impact March 11, 2014 The gun is great! It has more torque than any other gun I've used. The only problem I have, which was mentioned before, is the ring that hold the sockets on. The second time I tried to take a socket off, the ring was bent, making it so I had to use a hammer and punch to get the socket off. I can bend the ring back into the groove, but it will just pop out again, I usually use a 3 inch extension anyway, so I just keep that on at all times. But besides that, I love this gun, takes off any rusted on nut with minimal effort. And the forward reverse switch on the back is a design I like. I also like the 3 speed forward. I can put on lug nuts without over tightening them | 12% There are no reviews yet | 15% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% i bought this gun because it was advertised as being ... June 1, 2017 i bought this gun because it was advertised as being light, 4.5 lbs.. not true, its heavy. I also own an ingrasol rand 2135qt.. this air cat is heavier.. it is quiet but feels bulky and uncomfortable to use. if I had the option I wouldn't buy it again..i am a technician and use it everyday, all day. Good value. October 22, 2016 Seems to be a good gun for the price. However, I agree with a few posts stating that it doesn't seem to have quite the power some people have bragged about. Don't buy it for quiet. January 5, 2015 No complaints about the performance, seems stout, but I was hoping to benefit from the "half the noise" aspect. It's as loud as any impact we've used...which defeats my purpose for buying it. ... power I thought it would be at 120 psi better at 140 psi Still good buy December 20, 2014 Not quite the power I thought it would be at 120 psi better at 140 psiStill good buy The amount of torque this impact wrench has i thought ... July 9, 2014 The amount of torque this impact wrench has i thought i would have easliy undone the crank shaft pulley bolt on the harmonic balancer on my 3.5L V6 trooper. But it didnt even budge. After trying other lower powered rattle guns this didnt work either. Has a lot of torque but, January 1, 2013 I like it okay and it does have more torque than my old Craftsman impact but it's not as much as I expected. I still come accross some stuborn rusty bolts and nuts that it wont take off. I still need to break them loose with a long breaker bar first. If you dont work on older cars it would probably be fine. | 2% There are no reviews yet | 13% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% Did not have the advertised torque December 13, 2016 I returned it because it didn't have the advertised torque. Not even close. I have an older Klutch that had the same amount of reverse torque as the Aircat, maybe even a little more. The Klutch was rated at 600 ft lbs. I couldn't justify paying for something that is no better than what I have, so I returned it and purchased the NitroCat 1200 XL. I am hoping that will have more reverse torque. I had a IR thundergun that I kept as a backup that was used for 6 years under worse conditions. Won't buy August 29, 2016 Doesn't work right after a year or normal shop use. The button started to stick so I couldn't switch from forward to reverse after only a few months. I had to use a tool to get the button to budge. I had a IR thundergun that I kept as a backup that was used for 6 years under worse conditions. Won't buy again Not worth the money September 28, 2015 It did the job for a bit. Not good for daily use at a shop. Had to repair it a few times. officially quit on me after 6 mos. Do not recommed False Advertising!!!!! More like 500 (ft-lbs)..... July 4, 2014 I am upset only because there is no way that this gun puts out 1,295 Feet-pounds (ft-lb) of loosening torque. Barely puts out 500. Im a diesel mechanic and I needed a strong impact to use daily and prefer not to spend $500 on a snap-on or matco so I decided to try this aircat. I took large torque wrench and torqued a wheel lug to 550 foot pounds then tried to take it right back off with this impact and only after holding the trigger for between 30 and 45 seconds straight then it finally came off. I started to become worried that the gun would break holding the trigger that long. Overall it is a good impact but far from being able to remove 1295 ft-lbs!!!!! Thought it would be smoother and quieter May 20, 2014 This thing is loud and clunky. It almost jerks out of my hand. Does not seem like a quality tool to me. I was expecting it to be quieter than my old Craftsman, but it was way louder. Also, it doesn't have enough adjustments for tightening. Only 4 settings and nothing in between. | 1% There are no reviews yet | 3% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 2% Stay away November 29, 2016 Maybe mine was defective but I bought this to replace my 12 year old craftsman impact. This would not even come close to keeping up with it. One Star February 11, 2016 Do not buy. Its junk. Lasted me 2 months then crapped out on me. Just went with snap on Will not recommend to anyone November 8, 2015 Does not deliver the promised torque. Will not recommend to anyone. Aircat January 7, 2014 This product was a little heavier than I expected, but very quiet and powerful. Replaced my very lightweight 1175 series that did not last very long (2 yrs). I'm changing my rating on this unit because the trigger is now staying depressed. Garbage tool that does not last apparently. After 45 years in the biz I should have known better. | 1% There are no reviews yet | 2% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
