Perfect for fruit infusions
July 2, 2017
Love it! I make fruit-infused alcohol - blueberry, peach, cherry. I had been straining it through an old thin towel that I twisted to squeeze the juice out of the fruit, but it was starting to develop rips. And then I still had to strain through coffee filters - which took forever. And I struggled with pouring an entire 2-qt. jar without spilling/splashing (a definite problem trying to avoid berry stains!)

Enter this nut milk bag. It fits perfectly inside my 2 qt. Pyrex measuring cup. I found some lids with screens so that I could simply flip the jar upside down and drain most of the juice. Then I take off the lid and let the fruit plop in - the nut milk bag preventing splashes from getting out! Then twist and squeeze to get all that juicy goodness out.

I had a little bit of trouble with the blueberries this first time; despite being frozen before adding to the liquor, they still retained their shape and needed to be "popped" - making the squeezing process a little arduous (hand cramps!) Next time I'm going to thaw and then smash the berries with a potato masher before adding the liquor - I think it will make the squeezing a little easier.

Very pleased - reduced a 2-step process to just one!
Call it the cold brew bag!
June 12, 2016
Cold brew coffee is perfect with this nut milk bag. The bag is large enough to fit in the entire picture (I bought the Bormioli Rocco Set Of 2 Frigoverre Glass Jug Pitcher With Hermetic Frosted Lid - 67.75 oz). Now I have cold brew to serve and cold brew being made all the time. The one word of advice I have is don't use the bag inside out. I thought it might be easier to clean if I used it with the seam on the outside. When I rinsed the bag, the coffee grounds made their way into the region around the drawstring. I was a pain to flush them out. Now I use the bag with the correct side out and clean up is a breeze.
Great for homemade coconut almond milk! See pics!
March 12, 2016
There are a lot of reviews from people who obviously love this bag as much as I do, so I'll just keep it short and share a recipe I make a lot with this bag. As a base for my daily smoothies, in my Vitamix Standard Blender, Black (Certified Refurbished) I put1/2 cup raw almonds3/2 cup flaked or shredded coconut1/4 tsp kosher saltdash of vanilla extractwater to the max fill line1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional -- I don't actually do this anymore since the fruit in the smoothies makes it sweet enough for me)I blend on high for a minute or so and then strain through this nut bag. It works great! This milk is delicious, homemade and doesn't have any weird ingredients like many store-bought alternative milks. Yes, it separates, but a quick stir and you're ready to go! Tweak the recipe to your tastes! We use this bag for other stuff too and love it. High quality, sturdy and pretty easy to clean. I've bought other nut bags that were absolutely terrible. Buy this one!
Ummmhmmm

I am currently drinking my first cold brew coffee that I have made with my nut milk bag and it is delicious Kona blend cold brew.! This thing is pretty awesome and I am sure I will get a lot of use out of it and probably buy another one. One for food and drinks and another to make compost teas for my garden...!
Perfect for Homemade Strained (Greek Style) Yogurt!
May 18, 2015
Perfect for straining a gallon of homemade yogurt! I started making homemade strained (Greek) yogurt and this nut bag has made it even easier! I make yogurt with 1 gallon of milk at a time, which yields about two quarts of yogurt once the whey is strained off. I used to have to divide the yogurt into several coffee filter-lined bowls over strainers to strain the full gallon of yogurt. I can fit the whole gallon of yogurt into this bag! YAY! I hang it from my cabinets over a bowl on the counter until it's the consistensy we want. I make yogurt 2-3 times a week and this is seriously a life saver! The whole gallon can strain to a super thick consistency in about an hour. (My family has always liked yogurt by since making it homemade they all LOVE it now! It's super easy and super healthy too! Check out this tutorial to get started: http://www.melskitchencafe.com/easier-homemade-yogurt/ )

Cheese Cloth for Garden Use
June 5, 2017
I use cheese cloth to cover my beans and lettuce planted in the community garden. The cloth permits water and sun to reach the plants while keeping them warm during cool weather and keeps the birds from eating the leaves on the very young bean plants.
Perfect for my needs
March 8, 2017
Perfect for my needs! I use this cheesecloth to steam Thai sticky rice. I didn't really read the product description, so I wasn't expecting to receive so much cheesecloth, but I'm very pleased by that. I trimmed off what I needed and will save the rest for when I need a replacement.
Not all cheesecloth is alike and this is at the top of the best
March 5, 2017
You cannot have enough cheesecloth. No. it is just not possible. I am glad for the size, the quality and that I can rinse and reuse this when making tea. It is very good for making soft goats milk and cows milk tea from easily made curds and whey, use the curd. Save the whey for oatmeal and such. You can squeeze and be rather frisky with this cheesecloth and it does not tear, it will tear if you bang it around enough as would any cheese cloth. What I like is the size in that I can make a pillow and have extra in the breadth to cut for a tie to enclose the bag of tea or curd. This is a repeat purchase.
Excellent quality!
August 16, 2016
One can never have too much cheese cloth...and this was an excellent bang for the buck! They're also unbleached, and that is something that I love!! I've used it already with straining my Ricotta when I made Lasagna and it handled the whole thing like a champ.
Cheese cloths are great for taking the cloudiness away
May 11, 2016
I mainly use this product to strain home made chicken soup. Cheese cloths are great for taking the cloudiness away, and giving the soup a greatly improved appearance.I like the natural appearance of this product, as opposed to the white ones that I have seen. However, the best part is the bargain. While the cheese cloths from the supermarket might average about $3.00 or more for a one time use, buying this large piece, which I can then cut into many different pieces makes it a big bargain, averaging less then $1.00 or so per use.I estimate that out of this one piece of cheese cloth, I will be able to get about 7 or more pieces for my use, which adds up to huge savings as opposed to buying the tiny packages that they have in super markets.
Will buy again and would recommend
December 30, 2015
Just as described. I wash my used pieces gently by hand with a drop of gentle dish soap and hang them to dry. After using and washing it this way several times it began to fray a bit. The next time I used it to cover bread rising I found a couple tiny bits of thread in the baked bread. Time to toss that piece and cut a new one. Some complained that there is a hole in the bag. That is an air hole. When some products are transported at higher elevations they will expand if they are in a plastic bag that is air tight, and could rupture. So, the premade hole makes sense to me. If you feel the fabric might be dusty for some reason, then very gently rinse a piece you have cut and let it dry before using. I would suggest you only wash those cut pieces you plan on using, not the entire batch, as there is quite a bit of it and it would not be easy to unfold it all and hang it, and then refold after dry and try to get it back in a bag.

Tried using this to make cold brew coffee...
May 21, 2017
Tried using this to make cold brew coffee, I wasn't super impressed with the results. I'd recommend looking into a different product actually made for coffee brewing. Details below:

Pros:
• Well made bag
• Did not let particles through

Cons:
• Difficult to clean, sifted particles often getting caught in upper ring and seams
• Cinch cord doesn't close the bag fully, end up with a small opening
• Would not recommend for coffee brewing
Great product! Very little room for improvement!
January 31, 2017
Love this! I have used it to make both Soy Milk and Tofu, both of which turned out wonderful!

Pros:

- There is a cinch string that can help seal off the top of the bag, I find that I can cinch it shut and hang it from my microwave door (above the oven) to allow gravity to do some of the work of straining while I'm working on other things.
- The material is so fine that no chunks escape the netting.
- The material is strong, I've really given this some muscle and it's still holding up well, the stitching is incredible.

Cons:

- The bag is slightly smaller than would be useful with a pot or colander that is often needed to strain into. This would help, because I could drape it over the sides and be able to create a wider area to pour the material needed to be filtered into.
It finally arrived today and I put it to good use within minutes of receiving it
January 13, 2017
My almonds have been soaking for 3 days while waiting for this bag to arrive. It finally arrived today and I put it to good use within minutes of receiving it. It worked really well for me without having to strain the milk while pouring it in the container. The material seems sturdy. I didn't read the paper with some recipes before I used it so I didn't get the try the kneading process it stated. As I was squeezing the heck out of that bag I thought it would tear in the bottom and splat but it held together pretty good. I went to the website to see if there's a video about the kneading method but there was none. Checking out YouTube to see if somebody happened to post a vid with this method.
Use it for Cold Brew but....
May 7, 2016
Works great for my needs!

A few notes if you are using this for making COLD BREW:

When I cold brew I coarse grind the beans before putting them in this bag and then in a half gallon glass jug that I fill with water.
The first time I did this I decided to strain the cold brew using a mesh sieve with just a damp paper towel placed over it just to be safe (didn't have any coffee filters on hand). Anyway, I'm REALLY glad I did this because once my glass jug was emptied I noticed a decent amount of sludge on the bottom.
Now this was my first attempt at cold brew so I figured hey I probably just ground the beans a bit too much and had too fine of a texture.
This did seem to be partially the problem since the second time I cold brewed I made sure the grind was pretty damn coarse before putting it into the nut bag. However, again just to be safe I strained the cold brew using the same method and still came up with some residue that I was glad to be rid of. A decent amount less than before, but enough that I would still advise straining.

I know it probably sounds like- well if I have to strain then what is the point of using the bag at all? BUT I really do think using this makes the process just SO much easier and wayyyy less of a mess. As well as less time consuming because you don't have this giant mass of wet ground coffee blocking the flow to the pitcher and taking ages. Using this makes the process quicker, cleaner, and just overall less of a hassle. Plus, cleaning the bag itself is very easy.
Great for Juicing with Vitamix
April 4, 2016
The nut milk bag is very large, which is great!

I use it to juice with my Vitamix. I blend everything up, and then let the juice flow out through the nut milk bag and the pulp stays in. It holds all of the pulp, nothing escapes this bag!

I do wish that it was easier to clean, the edges hold in a lot of debris. I tried putting it through the dishwasher, but that didn't get it all clean either.

Very fine sifting for liquids
November 19, 2016
Works as intended. I would have 5 stars, but it does seem to very easily fray. If this is the norm please let me know, I just wonder how good it would be if I actually used it for cheese; right now I make apple cider, almond milk, and general sifting.Otherwise, it's a great product.
Nice quality but weave not as fine as I expected
July 23, 2016
OK for my needs (food straining to remove small bits). Need to use several layers to remove fine pieces. Trying out on infused liquids and works fine. Feel that it won't introduce any contaminants to the liquids. Says you can wash to reuse but not sure how cut edges will hold up.(I.e.whether will unravel) But this is a lot of fabric so I toss after using.

We use this to strain our cold brew coffee. It's pretty big, almost too big. Some of the finer grounds get through, so I end up have to filter it a couple of times. Looking for an alternative.

It has one flaw...
January 22, 2017
I love the quality of this product, but it has one major flaw. The area on top that holds the drawstring is an issue. I don't just use this for milk, but chicken broth, cold brew coffee, etc... And every time I have a really hard time cleaning that little area. Every time little bits of coffee or broth solids get stuck in there. It's REALLY hard to get clean.I wish it could've been designed without this issue because the bag itself is really nice and durable.
IT IS A NICE MILK NUT BAG

KIND OF A LONG WAIT FOR ALL THE YOGURT WHEY TO DRIP OUT, BUT A NICE MILK NUT BAG.
Pro Quality Nut Milk Bag - Big 12"X12"
October 14, 2015
The quality of construction seems fine, it's the application that I don't care for. I bought this after seeing that some people liked it for straining their homemade yogurt, to get Greek yogurt. It strains just fine, but what a mess trying to get the strained yogurt out of the bag! And there's no convenient way to hang the bag over a dish in the refrigerator, to make the draining more effective and less hands on. I'm going to try a metal mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth. I'm hoping that this will be a more effective and less messy way to get the results I want.

September 10, 2016
Not sure how to rate this item. The cheese cloth itself is really nice, but as soon as you cut into it , it frays very badly leaving you with a bit of a mess during a time when you do not have extra hands to deal with the mess.It filters well, just need to find another way to handle the fray. Maybe it will use masking tape on the edges before cutting

While it does make it easier to deal with the yogurt it does not do a very good job straining
August 22, 2017
Bought this to strain homemade yogurt. While it does make it easier to deal with the yogurt it does not do a very good job straining. The weave is not tight enough and it strains yogurt as well as whey.Ii had to put a cloth under it to just get clear whey to strain. Kind of defeats the purpose i got it for. If you are buying for yogurt only don't get it. I've had better results using potato cloth (which is lint free) and a colander over a bowl than anything else.
Not happy - Makes SUPER WATERY Nut milks
May 17, 2017
Not a fan of this nut milk bag - it makes SUPER WATERY nut milks no matter what I do. So if you're intending to use it for that, don't. And I've had probably 10+ nut milk bags over the years and made countless nut milks so I know what the ratio and texture should be like. Yeah the bag is strong, but it's also super stiff (even after many hand washings) and I feel like the mesh is too fine for nut milks, none of the healthy fat is getting through. Maybe this would be an OK bag for straining juice or cold brew, but I'm going back to my other bags for nut milk. On the bright side, it's pretty inexpensive - but this is a case of you get what you pay for.
Bigger better but not so better.....
April 5, 2017
I make only almond milk in this and I use it twice a week. After one month this back is already useless. With no effort the stitches on the bottom of the bag just open. This is not a cheaper bag anyway is not made out of good materials. I was thinking to get one for my mom who just start drinking homemade almond milk, time to look for other bag. Wish me luck!
Simple cheesecloth is better
March 18, 2017
I might not have read the description clearly enough, but the mouth of the strainer is not as big as I expected, which made it difficult to stain yogurt from a large pot. Also, it let through a lot of yogurt when I strained it. Cheesecloth from Walmart did a better job at only straining out the whey.
Not worth it for me...very disappointed
June 23, 2016
I've only used this twice and its already busting apart at the seams. I only made two small batches of almond milk and did not squeeze overly hard. I like the size and the easy clean up and I love the taste of the fresh milk, but I am very disappointed in the quality of this product. For the price I wish I'd bought a cheaper one since I will have to throw it away.
Not good for cold brew coffee
March 25, 2016
This was advertised as a cold brew coffee filter, and that is what I bought it for. I actually bought 2. This is not a good option for cold brew coffee unless you like a lot of sludge, which I do not. I like my cold brew coffee 'clean'. I filtered back and forth quite a few times and the coffee remained sludgy and cloudy. Maybe this works better for nut milks, but I bought it for its other advertised use as a cold brew coffee filter.

There are finer cheesecloths available
October 23, 2015
The mesh is too open to be used for straining nut milks, too many solids would pass thru unless you used many layers. There are finer cheesecloths available.

Not good quality. Seams burst easily.
February 12, 2017
I used this for making cheese, as suggested by other reviews. When I added my coagulated milk to the bag, I closed the drawstring and squeezed the bag. The seams of the mesh split open and I lost all my contents in the sink. Very frustrating.
Poor Craftsmanship...Threw it Away.
December 31, 2016
My bag had a little tear in it so the grinds leaked through so I threw it away. The quality of the bag is good, but the craftsmanship is lacking. I ended up wasting about $4.00 of coffee because of the leak. Luckily I have an old one so I am still able to make great cold brew with my old bag and my new Kuissential Coffee Burr Grinder, which is amazing.
Too much Bigger and not better
September 17, 2016
This is my third or fourth nutbag (in fact i think at least one of my previous far superior ones was made by this company) and by far the worst. it's way too big for the container I have always used and it strains terribly. My milk comes out lumpy as though there is a hole in it.
Cold Brew or Cold Chalk?
August 18, 2016
This is NOT for cold brew. My cold-brew tasted like chalk after, and I filtered it 4 more times through this other filter I use to get all of the sediment out. I knew something was fishy when the liquid poured right through the bag in seconds.Do NOT buy for cold brew. I will be returning this bag and looking for a real cold-brew bag.

This cloth is overpriced for such an inferior quality. It feels abrasive, too. There's no seller or manufacturer's information indicated on the package, so I question the true origin of the product.
Poor quality cheesecloth. False advertising.
November 9, 2015
The thread is very thin and the thread count indicates that this cheesecloth is grade 40, not 50. The cheesecloth has too much foreign lint. BIG doubt it’s made in the U.S.- no manufacturer or seller’s information indicated on the package, which usually the case with products imported from other countries, such as China. The packaging is very poor and not suitable for food-related products. Thus, there is no assurance that the product is safe for use in cooking, etc. I'm returning it. I hope this review will save you time and money.
