If your are debating between this and mcculloch
September 26, 2017
I recently purchased a mcculloch to replace this and I regret it with every fiber of my being! Every time I use the mcculloch, I'm reminded of how great this machine was in comparison. It has excellent pressure! The only down side was that the pressure was intermittent, but you got some pretty good pressure out of it. The heat on this thing is hot enough that I wouldn't stick my hand in front of it to test the temp, where my mccolloch, I can hold my hand about six inches from the nozzle barely be effected. If you are debating between this and mcculloch, order this. I can't wait to save enough money to purchase this again. I NEED it back in my home and am so upset that I didn't repurchase it.
a must have tool that you didn't know you needed .

I have used the heck out of this machine. Wall paper falls right off. Will help remove paint off of a shower wall. Stubborn glued linoleum 3 layers thick with nails removed fairly easily. Will steam the glue off after you get the linoleum up.It got what had to be 20 years of cigarette residue off a ceiling. Will help remove grease and rust. I am not much for boasting about products but this thing just gets the job done. The effort and time this saves is just work this.
Omg she's SMOKIN'. Oh, wait.. that's just lots of steam!

Once you get the hang of it this little guy puts out PLUMES of steam and definitely would be great for any heavy-duty application. Though despite being so robust it isn't bulky or hard to manuever. I bought a every steam cleaner available at the local stores just to get an idea of what to expect & to use as a baseline comparison for this guy. I tell you that this thing blew them all away and was head & shoulders above anything else I was able to get my hands on..
Highly Recommended!

Best purchase I have made in a long time! Highly recommend it. I read the reviews prior to purchasing so felt like I knew what to expect. The product exceeded my expectations. I used it to clean tile and grout in two bathrooms. Prior to using I was thinking I would need to remodel the bathrooms but this steamer along with using a scrub brush did a fantastic job. I also used it on our laundry room sink which has been a utility sink for 30 years with paint and other product on it from many odd house jobs and it looks almost new. I recommend purchasing the extra nozzle brushes as after one bathroom of scrubbing I opted to use a new brush for the next bathroom. I've also used it to wash all the baseboards in the house. I'm already planning new uses for it. Honestly, really a good purchase.
Absolutely fantastic, great value, perfect for the car and the home!
December 25, 2012
Honestly, I would give this 10 stars if I could, and I'd still give it 5 stars if it worked half as well as it does. This thing is fantastic. Once it's "charged", it runs for well over 30 minutes on a single fill, and I can't believe what a brilliant job it does.I recently picked up a winter car that's 10 years old, and unfortunately the previous owner was a heavy smoker. It took me about 2 hours in the driveway, but when I was done - using only this steamer, a few towels and some elbow grease, you'd never know the car was smoked in. The headliner, seats, carpets - even the vents and little nooks and crannies are now spotless and there is NO smoke smell. I am flat out thrilled at how it turned out! Even the engine bay cleaned up like a shiny penny. It's a heck of a lot of fun to use, and I can't wait to get to trying it on the rest of my home. 5 stars all the way, the perfect gift for any car nut. It does a professional level job at half the cost of a professional steam cleaning.

Best Steam Cleaner
August 29, 2015
This is my second Steamfast steam cleaner. The first lasted 10 years (the grounding plug broke off and the tubing developed a leak.) This unit makes doing my floors so easy! Very powerful steam. I learned early on with my first unit to let the steam do most of the work, so slow, easy passes work best. My kitchen floor is tile with a light grout. The first time I used my Steamfast, the grout was actually back to its original color! I use it to steam the toilet area and then just wipe away the gunk. I steam the top of my glass cooktop - cooked on foods just wipe off. My husband used it to clean his BBQ grates (while I was away -- guess I bragged too much) and it made that easy as well. One of my best purchases.
Best money I've ever spent
May 21, 2015
I bought this to steam clean the floor grout in my 25 year old house. I had previously tried a dozen different ways to clean the grout and NOTHING worked. I seriously was about to rip up and replace the entire floor when I decided to try the steam cleaner. The results were nothing short of amazing, and it wasn't difficult at all--no scrubbing needed. I did spray some grout cleaner first and let it sit for a few minutes, but then used the steam cleaner, and the dirt poured out. Incredible!
SteamFast SF-275
April 15, 2014
Bought this because my Daughter wanted something portable and was a reasonable handling size.
It's very portable, when comparing other like products it was also cost savings, the next reasonable solution would have cost almost double the price.

No complaints, although not everything cost effective is always a catch-all and in this case it does spots on carpet well, but would be a bit much to consider this item a carpet cleaner, it's really not. However, for ANY firm surface cleaning, it excels. Kitchen, Bathrooms and wood floors are a snap. When formulating this critique, bang for buck and function was primary.

There is nothing in the advertising that is false, it does what it states it will do and based on that rates a five star. Often people are looking for something that an item won't do and base their response on that expectation, given the advertised functions of this cleaner, it meets all the criteria it was bought for, based on the provided information. It would have been 'Nice' to have a larger water input solution, but that was also very clear and thus anticipated.

A worthy product at a good price point.
Very Pleased!
May 28, 2013
My entire house has an unusual tile floor pattern. Over the years, the beige grout had darkened in high traffic areas. After spending an entire day ON the floor trying to clean a very small area with a small hand steamer and grout brush, I gave up and purchased the SteamFast. I was concerned about the reviews from others regarding durability - but found NO issues at all. This is a great little unit! Not only is my grout really, really clean, not one attachment broke. Cleaning was almost effortless with the wand extensions and small brush attachment. Being able to stand up (saving my back) and getting such a great result was worth the cost of the machine!

When using the steamer, let the steam do the work. A small nylon grout brush is available to help loosen dirt, not to scrub it out. If your grout is super filthy, you can pre-treat the grout for 15 minutes with baking soda/water, detergent mixture or special grout cleaner to loosen the grime before your steam clean. Another reviewer stated the brush would melt due to the high heat - I did NOT find that to be the case. One brush cleaned 1300 square feet of some pretty dirty grout. The bristles were angled and dirty when finished, but not melted. The wand attachments did not break or flex. Once I got the hang of passing the nozzle back and forth (without pushing down on the brush/wand) as I passed the steam over the grout - I found the process was much easier and faster.

I would highly suggest using a microfiber-type mop to mop up the water from the steam vapor as you clean each small area. The mop will pick up the dirty water that comes out of the grout. You will be amazed how much dirt there is. I had to rinse out the mop quite often.

I did visit the SteamFast site and purchase a pack of extra grout brushes (which arrived in just a few days), and set up a subscription order with free shipping. the cost was very reasonable, and hopefully will prompt me to clean my grout more regularly!

I do with there was a better design for storing the unit's hose and cord after use. You will need to secure them in some fashion to keep them from unraveling. There are a number of attachments that are included, and found a plastic box to be helpful to store those.

This is a good product, and I highly recommend it. It will be replacing my current stick-style steam mop. This unit is much more powerful, and the steam really does last for 45 minutes!
Does the job !
March 22, 2010
I bought this steam cleaner after reading dozens of reviews of various steam cleaners. I wanted a machine that would do two things:

1) Clean all of the grout in my tiled floors (kitchen and baths). After reading all of the reviews I really did not know what to think since there are some people who love them all and some who think they are a waste of money. I have concluded that people who did not like their machines must have expected them to do all of the work. If this were just to clean the floors instead of using a traditional mop I would not buy it but it really did the trick for cleaning the grout. Warning, you do need some serious elbow grease but it makes the grout look like new.

2) Clean the beadboard in my guest bathroom. Anyone who has beadboard can attest to the fact that it is very difficult to clean. Prior to the steam cleaner I had to spray cleaner in each vertical groove and use a Q-tip to clean the dirt from the groove (especially difficult at the bottom where the beadboard meets the wood trim). The steam cleaner washes the dirt right out of the groove and just requires a quick dry with a towel.

In addition to working perfectly for the two main purposes that I bought the machine for it is also great for cleaning the other woodwork in the house (with two dogs that is saying a great deal) as well as cleaning the grime for the outside window frames (that groove that the screens fit into that get all of the outside grime caught in them (another old Q-tip job).

As far as the quality of the Steamfast SF-275, it is very sturdy. It far exceeded my expectations as I had only previously seen the Shark products in the store and they look very flimsy.

June 27, 2017
So far I really like it. Used it on my kitchen tile floor and truly amazing, my floor looks like new. This steamer is easy to use, light weight, attachments are okay but feel like they could be a bit more sturdy. I learned that I needed to hit the control switch to allow some of the water to flow first to get the steam going, at first I was getting too much water before the steam came (probably operator error) The only downfall for me is that I tend to overfill it with water. If it had a see through container where I could see the water level that would be great and case to store it and the attachments together would be a plus :). I would recommend this product
Works as intended with good water capacity and hot steamy flow

Works as intended with good water capacity and hot steamy flow. Definitely not a miracle machine, doesn't clean as well as i expected. Machine works as intended though. Will keep machine. Nice not to use chemicals.
Best yet!
September 17, 2016
It's great for getting the funk from the cracks and crevices that are hard to reach with traditional methods. Takes a lot of effort out of cleaning tasks too, a whole lot. The brush on the tip is a great design to effectively scrub and keeps my hands away from the hot steam and is all that is needed to get at the filth that builds up that rags or mops just can't remove. It's big enough for average house cleaning, I've been able to clean a room on a full tank and knowing the power of steam to truely clean surfaces has cut the cost of detergents. It seems to take longer than I would think to heat up but at 1500 watts, once it's ready, I can typically get the job done. Be careful of heat sensitive materials such as paint, just use quick short bursts and a towel will be fine. The only negative for me is that there isn't a gauge to see how full it is. The power cord seems a bit short but I appreciate how easy it is to store away and I just use an extension cord anyway. And don't be a cheap a$$ and use tap water, I've had a few other steamers and clogged them up with the crap in our water supply, distilled water is your best bet. So if you like a clean house but hate cleaning, this is the gadget for you.
LOVE IT!!!
March 11, 2015
It works great! Cleaned everything I needed it for, my oven, cracks between the fridge and cupboards, counters and stove, bathroom, my daughters step 2 play kitchen. It's the only cleaning tool I use now!! I especially love that there are no chemicals being left behind for my daughter to get exposed to!
I only have 2 issues with this product and that's why I took off 1 star. The first issue is the trigger not having any sort of safety feature. I would like if it at least had a trigger lock so you don't run the risk of getting sprayed and burned while you're moving things around, or it could potentially get in the wrong hands and just be bad obviously I key my daughter away while I'm using it, but it only takes a spilt second for something to happen. The other issue is not having a water level indicator. You can't over fill it and you can't run it dry, but there's no way of knowing how much water is in it until you either over fill it, or you run out of steam. If those 2 things got added this would be a 5 star product!!!!
Pretty powerfull. Buy extra metal nozzles
August 5, 2013
For the size it is pretty impressive how much power it has. I am guessing it is the all metal pressure tank. We didn't have any issues getting continuous supply as I have only tried it on the tile grout. It does take out all the gunk. May be per-treating the grout with some sort of chemical may make it even more cleaner. But works well with out it as well. The brass/metal brush does wear out quick; we cleaned our kitchen and part of the living room and I can see the that it will need replacement before we are done with dinning and great room. The wallpaper remover attachment is pretty usless if you dont have wallpaper to remove. I tried to see if it can be used for some other purpose but cant think of anything.
A waterlevel indicator would have been great but I think that will make the take prone to leaks as it will need to be cutout from the metal. We have not tried any other attachments so cannot review on them.

Great steamer but needs a better securing system for the accessory brushes when scrubbing.
May 12, 2017
The steamer works great and does a great job of cleaning. I wish they had a better system for securing the brass wire brush as it pops off any time you put pressure on it to scrub. I waste a lot of time putting it back on when it pops off and have tried to secure it to no avail. If you buy this with the intention to put pressure on the scrubber while steam cleaning beware as it will give you problems. Otherwise, the steamer does a great job cleaning stubborn things like grease. I do like the extra large capacity tank as it allows you to continue to work without shutting it down to refill it.
Great product for cleaning
January 30, 2014
Love the trigger lock for continuous steam. Large reservoir allows extra steaming time. The long hose and wheeled base make cleaning multiple areas effortless. The top handle could be designed a little better. It takes some practice to lock the steam jet into the holder. Sometimes I worry that the handle will fall out if I am carrying the steamer around by it. Other than that, there are no complaints. The steam power is great and there are plenty of attachments. With the extra long steaming time, I finish the job with leftover steam. So I try steaming random things. I've even been able to get baked grease off a pan and I renewed an ugly looking sponge. Only small attachments can be stored within the unit.
Great Deal
January 26, 2014
This mop surpasses most other mops on the market because of its versatility. Granted you have to wait at least a minute for the boiler to get the steam going, so a little patience is in order. But once it gets going, LOOK OUT. You can lock the steam button down just as you can on irons. And when you unlock it the steam stops instantly. Because of this you can leave it plugged in. It has many more attachments compared to the others and its capacity is 48 oz, which allows for continuous cleaning for about 40 minutes.

My only beef with it is that as a professional cleaner of condos and private residences I have to carry my cleaning tools from car to house and from ground floor to first floor at each and every job. I can't understand why the designers of this great tool didn't put a handle on the top of it or some sort of recessed pocket to grab hold of it. When I go to pick it up and carry it there is no way to hold on to it. I'm worried about dropping this baby so I hug it tightly against my clothing with its icky wheels against me. It's the one thing that is missing on an otherwise savvy investment.
Did a good job with my dirty grout
April 27, 2013
I ordered this specifically for cleaning tile floors and walls in kitchen and bath - as well as some really grimy grout. It replaces a hand-held steamer that I loved, but I was looking for something reasonably priced where I could do some continuous cleaning without waiting for multiple cool down and refill/reheats. This little unit did everything I needed for it to do. I was able to clean my kitchen grout in a single cleaning session of around an hour. The steam is wet - and the 48 ounces of water puts a lot of moisture into the air, so you may want to think about using this on a dry day when you can have windows open. Just keep a towel nearby to wipe up the dirty water as you go.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is that the brushes don't last very long. It comes with several accessories including some nylon brushes that are not robust enough for grout and tile cleaning. But it only comes with one small metal brush. I still have a little life left in the one that came with the machine - but it is clear that heavy cleaning jobs like grimy grout will go through these metal brushes pretty quickly. Unfortunately - Steamfast's website shows that the metal brushes are currently out of stock and this seems to be the only place you can order them online, but I am planning on stocking up as soon as they become available again. The brushes are reasonably priced - but you need to factor that into the equation.

Overall - a good value for the money and I am pleased.
I love the cleaner, but not so much the company...
April 5, 2013
The cleaner is AMAZING!!! I LOVE this little steam cleaner! We bought a foreclosed house a year and a half ago and the people who lived here before us were FILTHY. The grout in our house was black! BLACK black. I have spent at least 20 hours scrubbing grout, and I had only gotten to 1/2 of it and it was not all the way clean. I had scrubbed so hard that my wrists were swolen for about two days after each round of scrubbing!. This morning I spent about an hour and steam cleaned all of the grout in my kitchen, and it is CLEAN!!!!!! YAY!!!! Sucess! And why I don't like the company is because they make you create a subscription if you want extra parts for the cleaner. This morning I completely wore out two of the brushes cleaning the grout (the wire brush worked like a charm on the grout) and they want me to sign up for an annual subscription to get more brushes. I would prefer to just buy attachments as needed. But the cleaner is amazing! I even mopped the rest of the tile floor with the mop attachment when I was done and I will never use a regular mop again! It was wonderful :)

Almost but not quite
September 13, 2017
well...is my bathroom cleaner? probably
does it save me time and work? no way
i ended up returning it as it just releases way too much water with the steam for me. I live in the damp and cold NW coast region and adding that much water into the house just doesn't work. If i lived in a warm climate and could open the windows and had a tile/concrete house would be fine.
The window squeegee was worthless as the water just flew everywhere and left a large puddle on the floor and walls. The steam was a wonder on the toothbrush holder and sink drains and under the rim of the toilet though. That was not enough to store another machine in the house for me. Perhaps a handheld will work better. Also, my trusty home made bathroom cleaner did a better job in the shower.
Not a Magic Bullet
April 22, 2017
I've yet to find anything inside that this is my go-to appliance. Don't get me wrong; for a sub-$100 unit it's very well constructed, with lots of attachments and no leaks (impressive, since even brand-new $3k units sometimes leak). It produces a decent jet of steam once it's up to full power, and it's plenty hot.

But... it's not for everything.

The first big project I tried it on was general dirt in the carpet, especially by the edges. I'm sorry to say that it didn't do any better than plain water; I ended up switching back to my ironically-named carpet steamer and soap. It didn't damage the carpet, but it didn't really help, and there was the added risk of smashing your drywall into paste.

Next I tried it on the range & oven. It's pretty messy; imagine using a low-powered pressure washer inside your house. Again, you kinda need to use whatever soap or cleaner you would normally use, and it's not like it's any better at breaking up stained-in cooking grease. All in all, not worth it.

So I figured if it's going to make a mess, what better task than using the squeegee attachment on the shower doors? But just like the other two experiments, this was a deafening 'meh'; it didn't really help with water stains or soap scum any more than regular water would. I also tried it on the shower pan, but again, using some cleaner and tapwater worked better. Ditto for a toilet bowl as well.

So what should you get it for? I can't speak to wallpaper removal, but it's not bad for some things in the garage. If you need to spray something like your lawn mower, for example, I think it works better than a normal pressure washer with less risk of peeling up the paint. It might work for some small degreasing projects, but only if you can do it outside and contain the leavings.

All in all my suggestion would be to try one before you get it, even an inexpensive model like this, if you don't have a specific project already in mind.
OK But Not
March 28, 2015
Our old steamer had finally bitten the dust. This steamer works fine (just used it the other day), but is not quite as good as the previous model. Unless the green "GO" light is on, I can almost put my hand in the path of the steam. It does work well when the green light is on. The electrical cord is also too short. You need to have a heavy duty extension cord in order to reach farther than 5 feet from the electrical socket. I'll have to look at other options when this one bites the dust.
Help for cleaning house
August 20, 2013
I am a senior with health issues. Cleaning the house is a struggle for me, especially the bathrooms which are all tile (not by choice). I was hoping the steamer would help so I wouldn't have toget in and bend, stoop, scrub so much because doing so lays me out for several days. Well, the steamer does take paint of the wall and it did remove dirt, etc. from the tile grout but did not touch the mold which is what I was hoping for. I contacted the company and even though you can not use any cleaners in the tank itself, you can put cleaners on the surface you will be spraying, then steam them off AS LONG as the product can be used with steaming water.
My husband tried it on the engine of a car he is restoring and it did nothing. It constantly needs to keep re-heating (according to the light indicators). I also agree with other people that have written in that it really needs some kind of way to let you know that the water level is going down. I keep putting water in it because I'm afraid it will dry out and blow. That is a major design error. I have not used it on the floors yet because actually, it looks like a lot of work.
My husband through out the box before I decided to send it back so I will use it for somethings around the house but not like I thought I would.
OK Product, good value for the price
January 23, 2013
We bought this steamer in order to help with the removal of wallpaper from several rooms in our home. Based on several days of use so far here's what we think:

The Good: Using this steamer beats using chemicals hands down at a price far less than either using chemicals or renting a steamer if you have a large removal area or will need a steamer for more than a couple of weekends. Depending on how many layers of wallpaper and the substrate (for us it was either bare plaster or paint over plaster; worst case was 3 layers of wallpaper on a bare plaster surface, best case was a single layer of wallpaper on a painted surface) you have it's reasonable to expect you'll be able to remove 15-25 sq. ft. of wallpaper per tank. Between steaming and scraping each tank of distilled water lasted ~ 1 to 1-1/2 hours. The wallplate attachment fits reasonably well and flush to the surface. While removing wallpaper is never fun it was great to be able to peel off wallpaper in large sections instead of having to chip away at it when we used chemicals.

The Bad: When using the wallplate for the first time after filling the tank a gush of hot water precedes the steam. That's not a bad thing when you're working 2-3' or higher on the wall (the hot water simply soaks into the wallpaper and loosens it up) but if you're closer to the floor it can cause a stream of very hot water to soak your floor (not very desirable and possibly damaging). Luckily this effect becomes less pronounced at the tank empties.

While the wallplate does effectively steam off wallpaper you'll find that a fair bit of steam escapes from the uneven contact of the plate with the wall surface. A better design would include a foam border to enhance the seal between the wallplate and the working surface to better concentrate the steaming effect.

Lastly, there is no place to attach the wallplate for safekeeping during the periods when you're scraping. There were several points where we had to use a stepladder to work on the upper portions of the wall and there was no way to safely secure the hose/wallplate when we were done steaming. The manual states that the wallpaper attachment should be pointing bottom side up when not in use to avoid accidentally steaming the floor. What they didn't consider is that, in that configuration, if the trigger were accidentally engaged that a blast of steam would go straight in the air...maybe into someone's face...with potentially dire results. The design of the unit should be modified to include a way to afix the steamer handle to the case with the attached tool facing downward and away to prevent accidental discharge. The design should also include a positive safety lock in the trigger mechanism to prevent accidental discharge as well.

Suggestions: When using this tool to remove wallpaper we've found it helpful to use a spray bottle containing hot water and wet the wall surface while you're waiting the 20 minutes or so for the steamer to get to operating temperature. The extra water helps loosen the wallpaper and enhances the effect of the steamer, especially when the tank start to run dry.

Overall this is a good and very useful steamer. Once the wallpaper job is done we'll still be able to use it for multiple other cleaning uses :-).

Steam is ok but not very powerful. Bad handle design. No way to carry around
There is room for improvement.

It gets quite hot on the good side. I had to set the unit up on a tall table to reach up to steam wall paper. I had to stop about every 20 seconds to a minute to allow the machine to build up steam again. This machine is good for lightly soiled floors.
but it disappointed in the bathroom on tiled tub area

Ok for floors, but it disappointed in the bathroom on tiled tub area.
Was easy putting it together but was disappointed with its performance
September 3, 2014
Have tried so many steam cleaners and was so excited to get this out of the box and use. Was easy putting it together but was disappointed with its performance. When it finally starts to steam it has a good amount of steam but I could only use it for a minute at a time before the blue light came on indicating that it needed to heat up, so I would have to wait 3-4 min to use then it would give me a minute of steam and have to wait again and so on. I packed it back in the box and sent it back. So I'll be researching for another one to buy, I think I may have to pay more $$ to get a good one!!
Not a cure-all for mold.
May 4, 2013
Wanted to use this steamer to try and clean some old stains and mold from the grout in my shower. Steamer did improve some of the problem, but did not completely clean the discolored areas. I'm guessing that the stains, mold and discoloration had been neglected for too long. Not sure that any of the other steamers out there could have done any better. Had to remove the old grout and do the whole shower over. Learned that you can't neglect cleaning these grout areas for too long because the stains will then become permanent. All in all, steamer did produce some good steam, but could not completely clean the grout because I had let it go for so long. Yes, I would recommend this machine for lesser challenging cleaning jobs.

Broke in less than a year
September 15, 2017
I paid for a new steamer, was sent a used one. It did work great however, so I kept it and got a discount/partial refund. However, ten months later, it is dead. Will not power on at all.Other cons: only has one floor cleaning pad (it'd be nice to have several included or easy option to buy more). Short electrical cord (minor quibble really).People that said it doesn't stay hot enough in use need to read the instructions manual. It worked great (when it was working). The lights go back on while heating during use, but you can continue to use it.One star for breaking in less than a year and shopping company sending me a used model, second start just cause it worked great when it was working
Disappointed!
August 16, 2017
Does not heat up enough or stay hot. It did scour off the discoloration caused by water and soap scum on my tiles, but it wasn't fast and I had to wait for the steam to build up a few times. Overall, it's a good clothing steamer but for cleaning I am still looking for a better tool.
Meh

I dunno, maybe I'm doing something wrong. It's really not cleaning much. It just makes things wet. Also, it doesn't last 30 minutes on a full tank.

December 5, 2015
Pros - CompactCons - Lack of water level indicator, this can cause one to overfill the water compartment and/or have no idea when the water level is very low. Water doesn't always get to a steam level and spouts warm water all over the place. The cord isn't very long and the cord thickness is more of a vacuum cleaner cord than what was expected for a product of this watt. The cord seemed to get a little warm to the touch. Placement of water compartment is in the back of the machine and down inside of a tight enclave, causing difficulties while attempting to take water compartment cap off. When the device did decide to get to a steam level, the water wasn't an actual steam, the consistency more of a mist. The ergonomics aren't of a user comfort design. When this product arrive, was excited to give it a go, that excitement fizzled rather quickly.
Blah. Handle gets hot, and it isn't powerful.
October 15, 2014
As soon as I bought mine, it was recalled for a malfunction making the handle hot to the touch while using it. I sent my unopened steamer back in and waited to get my new one. Got it, set it up, within minutes the handle was burning hot. It doesn't stay charged up very long. Every time I shoot steam out the light comes on to stop using it so it can build up more steam. The cord for the plug is seriously so short. You'll absolutely need an extension cord if you plan on moving anywhere while using this steamer. It's just not very powerful. Huge disappointment.
hobby or toy only
December 8, 2011
I really wanted to like this steam cleaner; It got good reviews both on Amazon and other consumer websites. Perhaps I'm expecting too much as I've never used a steam cleaner but I would best describe this cleaner as a toy. Serious cleaning duties are not within the steamer's abilities. You've got to constantly wait for the steam to reheat (even when mopping your kitchen floor). Do no expect this steamer to clean your grill, car, engine or other "serious" tasks (as clearly pictured on the box by the way) without a lot of scrubbing with the included wirebrush and waiting. If you're scrubbing with a wire brush how much work is the steam really doing? In short, it makes a lot of noise and a lot of steam (for limited periods of time) but it doesn't really do anything. Maybe it's good for cleaning your stove or counter or something?

elbow grease might be a better
October 24, 2016
Aren't sure yet what to think? Thought it would mean the grout in between the tile in our bathrooms and it barely touched it. A lot money for a product that I'm not so sure about.....elbow grease might be a better option
Cuts thru grime without effort, but scalds the hand that holds it
December 22, 2015
I really like how the steam cuts thru and just melts the grime away, but the locks don't stay in place, because the springs won't stay on. Last time I used it, I scalded my hands so very badly that it took a month for my hand to heal

It has already had a malfunction which has rendered the unit unusable. The cap couldn't be gotten off. Releasing all the steam after use as instructed appears to have not been enough. The cap sealed itself to the tank.
Didn't like it so I sent it back

Didn't like it so I sent it back. Didn't make wrinkles go away easily. Just wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Amazon was good about letting me return it.
Continuous steam mode does not last long
June 21, 2010
I just purchased this unit for cleaning my Armstrong kitchen floor. I filled it with 2 cups of water (32 oz) which is supposed to yield about 30 minutes of steam. I waited for the red light to go out which indicates 'steam ready' (just the opposite from the way you would expect an indicator light to work). I was using the extension wands with the floor brush and attached the provided cloth towel. I set the steam lock button for continuous steam. The initial burst of steam was good, but after about 15 seconds, the indicator light came on and the steam output and pressure was considerably diminished. I waited for the indicator light to go out and got about another 15 seconds of good steam pressure. I got frustrated with the starting and stopping and waiting for the steam ready each time. What is the purpose of the steam lock switch if you cannot get continuous steam? Have other users noticed the 'steam non-ready' light comming on frequently? Have other users noticed the reduced steam output when the indicator light is on? I do not think my unit is defective but have decided to return it.

Didn't work!
July 19, 2017
Bought this to strip all of the wall paper in every room of a 1980's house. The heater did not heat up the water and all it did was soak the wall with water. Because this house was at a remote location, I didn't get to try this and find out that it did not work and get it returned in time. So now I have a big paperweight.
Defective, or was it?
January 15, 2017
The one we received seems to be defective, sprays a luke warm stream of water and the steam it produces is cold.

After further research it appears to be a consistent problem with these.
After 6 months the steamer stopped working

After 6 months the steamer stopped working. Thought it was first class product.
This steamer is a waste of time and money.
November 10, 2015
I was very excited to receive this steamer and finally get the wallpaper down from my newly purchased home. I planned to use it to also do some major deep cleaning. I read all instructions and followed them exactly. I waited for the steamer to heat up and began. Less than 15 seconds later the red light came on! I wondered why no steam seemed to be generated while I was working - all 15 seconds at a time. I let it heat up again and tried it again and again and again. I wanted to give the machine a chance to actually work. It didn't get better. It got worse! I was doing better spraying water on the wall with a dollar store spray bottle and dollar store putty knife! (I even broke out my good putty knife.) I am not impressed at all with this machine. It is worthless. I would do better using my steam iron! (Then it's a good brand and older and probably can't be found any longer - at least not one made that well.) I have never used a steamer before. I have always just used "elbow grease" to clean and remove wallpaper etc.
Waste of money!

Waste of money!
I am very unhappy with the Wagner steam cleaner.
This steamer does not heat up to the level of producing steam and this is after waiting 30-45 minutes for it to get hot. I could put my hand on the vapor coming out and it was barely lukewarm .The green light came on but it never got hot.

Do not get to remove grout from tiles.
July 30, 2017
Did not take grout from between tiles as claimed. Takes up room in closet and will probably not get used again. Called Steamfast up about adding cleaning chemicals to the water, and they said no, only vinegar to remove calcium depostirs. Also, they recommend distilled water.
Great for floors, no good for bird cages
September 22, 2016
It does a great job on floors. I bought it hoping it would work on large bird cages. No, it doesn't. The gunk left behind is sticky and hard to remove, and it leaves white marks all over the cage from liquified poop. The tiny round scrubber pad was destroyed within minutes. The brushes included are too widely spaced to be useful on cage bars. That left the mop head, which didn't have enough scrubbing power to do the cage. Much easier to take outside, hose down and scrub. Still hoping for something that works on bird cages.

I've had it for over a year now. After about six uses something clogged even tho I only used distilled water. The steam would not come out the mop head. Customer Service tried to help, but they were useless. I tried swishing vinegar around, I even tried steaming the vinegar. Lots of steam, just wouldn't come out the mop head. It was great while it lasted, but an awful lot of money for such little use.
Failed again
April 19, 2014
My second one died yesterday. Bought it last October. First one lasted a bit longer right at a year.
When it works, it does a good job. our 1500 sq feet of tile couldn't be cleaner. We do a cleaning twice a month.

But big dissappointment when if fails again. I need to know which one to purchase for the future. One that will work longer than a year.
Too bad Dysan doesn't make one. My vacuum is still going strong after 12 plus years.
Not worth the space it takes up
April 4, 2014
I ordered this cleaner based on Amazon reviews and it's price. I don't know what everyone else expects from a unit like this, but I was greatly disappointed. I couldn't get anything cleaned with it and sent it back for a refund. I believe you would need to purchase a very high dollar ($350 +) steamer in order do the level of cleaning that these steamers "claim" to work on effectively.
stopped working after 2 uses!
June 14, 2012
I just received my steamer last night. It worked great for two water refills. But after trying to refill the water for a 3rd time, I am not getting any power to the machine. I checked the breakers and the plug. I even tried from a different plug, still no luck! So I let it sit overnight, thinking it might have overheated. Tried it this morning, nope! No power at all when you turn the button on! I am SO disappointed! I will be returning it.
