Nice, reliable video monitor, especially for the price
August 29, 2015
I've owned one of these for 2 years, since the birth of my first son. It was easy to set up and has worked reliably since we bought it. Add-on cameras can be purchased, so that you can monitor more than one child. The system is well worth the price, so much so that I recently bought a second system to be used as a backup and with the birth of my second child. My only issue is that I had hoped to be able to link both cameras to both receivers for convenience, but that didn't turn out to be possible (i.e. not possible to link one camera to multiple receivers). No big deal, though. This way, I have one system dedicated to each kid, and it works great.
Great Quality and Value Buy

I have been using this monitor for a year and a half, and I would highly recommend this monitor to all parents. The monitor provides a good quality picture in day or night, a solid range, at a great price!
Great Monitor that won't break the bank.
August 18, 2015
We purchased this monitor for our son and we absolutely love it. It's so easy to set up at home and whenever we travel. You just plug it in and you're good to go. The monitor is effective, at a great price point, and so easy to use that we would recommend this monitor to anyone who is in search of one.

The best monitor for the money, and their customer service is impeccable! Highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a reliable video monitor that's simple to set-up.
Great system: simple, reliable, quality
July 27, 2015
We love this monitor. My husband and I are minimalists - we keep it simple and only buy products that work well and aren't expensive. This camera and monitor work well, the image is clear, and it's easy to use. The system isn't bogged down by bells and whistles. It does what it needs to, and it does it well. We really like the VOX ON setting, where the monitor will only turn on if our son makes a noise. The best part is that it's closed circuit, so we don't have to worry about anyone tapping into the system.
Great Deal, Great Monitor
August 4, 2011
I had two concerns when purchasing this baby monitor. I was worried that the rather bright night light in my daughter's room would obscure the ability of the night vision monitor, and I was also worried that the price was lowered because they had found this to be an inferior product. Neither of these has been a problem. I did notice the "cheap plastic feeling" of the casing that other people mentioned in their reviews, but for one third the normal price on Amazon, I was more than willing to look past this. I'm interested to see how long it holds up. I've only had this product for a short while, but I'm moving the monitor around a lot already- we'll see how long the clip lasts. As for the night vision, it seems to be a transitional night vision, allowing anything in the light to remain bright, without obscuring the night vision's ability to clearly make out everything in its view. The ONE thing I would change would be the beep that happens every time the monitor goes to sleep (after a period of inactivity from the camera view). Even this can be tamed, however, by lowering the over-all volume.Things I LOVE about this monitor:-Clear view day and night-Clear audio-NO INTERFERENCE-Private channel- Battery-saving Auto "Sleep" with inactivityThings I'm not keen on:-Battery is not a standard size but a camera batteryI've only ever used an audio monitor, but I took a chance on this. I fell in love with it the minute it was hooked up.Oh, and if you think the viewer's not working when you first set it up, try taking the small lens cover off the camera... LOL.

It fits great on top of our changing table (Dream on Me ...
July 8, 2017
Came quickly and exactly as described! It fits great on top of our changing table (Dream on Me - Emily). We haven't used with it baby yet, he still won't be here for 5.5 weeks. It seems to be good quality and will last a while. The bottom (where baby lays) doesn't feel that thick and padded, but I am a first time mother and honestly don't know how other changing pads are in comparison or if the extra padding is necessary. The changing table came with a 1 inch pad, so I have that under it for a little more cushion, just in case for now.Update: Been using it for five weeks now. Works great. Super easy to clean as we have a boy that likes to pee everywhere during diaper changes. Would purchase again. Additional padding not needed, baby does fine.
Highly recommend!
November 28, 2016
I really hesitated between this changing pad and a few pricier ones on the market. As a new mom, I'm guilty of always wanting to buy the BEST everything for my baby--even if that sometimes means spending over 100 dollars on a changing pad my daughter will lay on for less than 5 minutes at a time to get her butt wiped (yes, I'm thinking of the Keekaroo Peanut Diaper Changer). But most times I listen to that voice in my head laughing hysterically at me for falling prey to marketing. I then searched around a little more and saw that this changing pad was incredibly affordable and had good reviews, so I decided to go for it. And, honestly, I couldn't be happier. It's safe, comfortable, fits perfectly on top of our $60 Ikea changing table, and there are PLENTY of adorable, affordable diaper covers that fit out there (I recommend getting at least two covers, so when one's in the wash, the other's on the pad.) Zero complaints. Get it.
Great buy
November 17, 2016
I couldn't believe the cost of some changing pads, of course I want my baby to be comfortable but it doesn't need to be as high of quality or price as the crib mattress! We purchased this one after a lot of recommendations & research and are very happy. Fits our changing table and covers perfectly. Love that it comes with straps because we are using a dresser as a changing table. Highly recommend.
I can tell this product has great quality, and seems very comfortable
August 3, 2016
I have not used this yet, as my baby is due soon :)However I did open it up to set up the nursery. I can tell this product has great quality, and seems very comfortable. I like the idea of having a strap to hold the baby in place, my first child's changing pad did not have that! I installed a pad cover, and it really looks great!I got a little OCDish, and tested the waterproofness of this changing pad. I simply dropped some water in the middle and watched it just hang out above the pad. It did not go through at all, which is great considering what fluids it is going to see very shortly :)Overall a great buy, at under $20 it was also cheaper than what I have seen at the typical baby stores.
Great pad! Horrible delivery!
August 21, 2015
The PRODUCT itself is nice, and is exactly as pictured. It is not hard, but firm to the touch which is good for newborns. When you put weight on it it conforms, I can feel the styrofoam like memory foam when I put weight on it. So it should be comfortable for my son.I am however very irritated with the packaging and shipping. I don't know if it was Amazon or FedEx, but I am NOT very happy about the giant tear and dents in the box! Amazon told me this would be here today and FedEx told me it was supposed to be here tomorrow. So I was already irritated about that. Then I get it today, finally, and it's a damaged package thrown on my door step?! I am very OCD and everytime I look at the changing pad my eyes are automatically drawn to the scratch that lifted and bubbled the plastic cover (not sure what it's called, it's like when you scrap a garbage bag on something and the plastic deforms and bubbles). The item wouldn't have been damaged if the box hadn't been damaged. I'm not happy that I wasted my gift card on something that showed up late (or on time, who knows?!) and damaged!I give the 5 stars to the actual changing pad, NOT anything else.Photos of the pad are attached, excuse my pregnant belly!
Recieved a different model this time
April 17, 2015
I've had this changing pad for 3 years now, It is amazing! My three year old still fits on it for diaper changes. Even if you don't have a changing table you can store it under your crib and pull it out as needed. No rips or tears 3 yrs later! Its so convenient to have a pad to change messy diapers on. It didn't have any smell when I received it and it still doesn't now. We put two covers over each other and just take the top on off if it gets dirty. All standard covers fit well. I will be ordering another one for new babys room as wellUPDATE:The new one that came in is not the same model # and has slightly shorter contoured sides. The sides don't come up to a point/look triangly instead it is a squared top. Not sure if this is an update or a whoops but summer brand who I called has not heard of this pad with this model #, yes that is kind of scary how the company hasn't heard of a product that I received from their brand/their tags are on it. This ones model # is 92870z and not the 92000z as listed

Good system for the price!
December 30, 2016
After testing several video and non-video options, the wife and I decided on this one. After using it for 3 1/2 years, I feel confident enough to write a decent review on the product. Keep in mind that we have this camera mounted up on a shelf to get an entire room shot. Results will obviously vary from person to person. Please also note that we ended up having to replace the base unit earlier this year as it would no longer hold a charge and we were getting some pretty strange video issues (black screen, infrared not functioning at times). We are currently running two cameras (as we just purchased the base/camera package and added the old camera to this) with the single base and just push a button to flip to the next camera it is currently paired with. You can't go back to the previous camera, but instead have to cycle through the 4 different channels to get back around to the 1st. Mild inconvenience.A word on the wireless capabilities. If you plan on using this in a heavily trafficked wifi area, you may encounter some difficulties with retaining connection. I would also mention that ANY device that uses wifi has the capability to lose connection under these circumstances and is not a direct result of the manufacturer. Some items just hold up better than others. The first couple of weeks after purchasing, we were experiencing drops in the signal which caused the base unit to blip off. We would just turn the base unit off and then back on and it fixed the problem. If you want to help yourself out early, I would personally suggest getting yourself a dual band router to support the 2.4ghz (usually the more heavily used) and a 5ghz. Connect everything that can connect to the 5ghz (smart phones, tablets, PC's, etc). Some electronics simply won't connect to the 5ghz, so you will inevitably have some on the 2.4ghz band. This will eliminate all of the "noise" created by your other wifi devices so you do not experience the drops to the unit as frequently (or at all!). You can also adjust the channels on your router, however I find this to be a bit more tedious than simply picking up a dual band.PROS:*Easy to install/pair (a few button pushes/holds)*Directions are very clear on operating the unit and how to pair*Delivers decent live stream video*Night infrared works well*Portable unit allows you to wander about (Did notice that the signal starts to get shaky around 40ft or so in a single story home)CONS:*After awhile, the battery simply will not hold a charge longer than a couple of minutes*Can experience wifi drops frequently*Battery life is around 2 to 3 hours unplugged. Will lose charging capabilities the longer you have the unit*Product is very light in weight (could be a PRO i suppose) and the casing feels a bit cheap (however has held together good)Overall, after searching through literally a dozen competitor products, we have been satisfied for the last 3 1/2 years. Even purchased a new base/camera unit after our first base unit went out. I would recommend this product as a decent replacement or first time buy for these types of monitoring devices.
Good camera, user friendly.

Received this product in the mail about a week and a half ago. Set it up immediately to see if it worked. So far I have not had any issues with the product and am happy with my purchase. The product was well packaged and easy to use. You literally just plug it in, hit the power button and you have picture. A+ for simplicity. The quality of the picture is quite good as well with good night vision capabilities. There is also a button that allows you to switch between cameras and has 4 modes allowing expansion with an additional 3 aftermarket cameras. The things that I would like to see is a little more rotation capability in from left to right. The handheld unit also gets quite hot when left on, especially if sitting on a couch/bed/blanket, so just be careful with that. If I remember they mentioned something in the user guide about it but be mindful anyway. Finally, not related to this exact product per say, the add on cameras seem to be quite expensive so if you plan on getting this for its expansion capabilities you may want to take that into consideration.Overall, nice monitoring system for the price (was on sale when I got it). Good quality picture with room for expansion if needed.
Nice but creates lots of interference.

We bought this product based on other reviews stating this was the best non-internet monitor for the money. So far we are pretty happy with it. We bought this because we suspected (correctly) that our little dude was just sitting quietly in his crib instead of napping.Pros: This unit has very good video quality, and the infrared camera does a good job with the night vision. It reaches through our whole house without any problems. The battery life is pretty decent, I think we get about 4-5 hours of use out of a single charge, and considering it is a video monitor I think that is fairly good. The system is easy to set up, just pull it out of the package, turn it on, and you are ready to go. It has also helped us promote better sleeping habits, as we don't go into the room as soon as it sounds like little dude is waking up. We can check the video screen and see that many times he still has his head down and is just talking in his sleep. This has helped to keep us from waking him up because we thought he was awake.Cons: We can't hear our little dude as well as we could with out non-video monitor, but he also doesn't make as much noise anymore. The biggest con, however is the interference we receive with our wireless internet. The instructions say that if you experience interference to change the 2.4Ghz band on your router to channel 1. This does improve the internet for our wireless devices, but it doesn't solve the problem. If I want to surf the internet on my laptop I have to either plug it in to the router or I have to shut off the video monitor. The camera part of the set does not cause this interference, but the video screen does. I don't know why, but this is the way it is.All in all this product was a good buy for us, if it weren't for all of the interference it creates I would happily rate this a 5 star item, but as such I can only say I like it, but do not love it.
Decent
February 1, 2016
We've been using this for a few days now, so this may get updated as time goes on. The monitor is decent. It's not great, but it's inexpensive and it works. It does FEEL cheap, very light weight and plastic-y. It's been difficult to get a good angle on my sons crib due to limited locations for the camera. (We have a very old house and a total of TWO outlets in his room, neither of which are very convenient.) But, the picture quality is pretty good. I like that you can add on more cameras. I've had no issues with the battery thus far. My complaints: Even with the volume all the way up, I can't always hear my son fussing until he's at a full cry. I don't like to leave him that long, so I have to pay close attention to the video itself when it's nearing the end of nap time. The charge light also does not ever seem to come on, fully charged, charging, or in need of charge. Not really sure what the point of it is. It also has some issues staying connected when I'm at the back of my house. I don't go back there that often, so it's not a huge deal, but if you have a big house you may want a different monitor with better range. All in all, I'd buy it again. It's not a bad monitor for the price.
Great monitor if you don't mind it blocking your internet
March 29, 2015
At first I loved this monitor. It's cute, affordable, easy to pack, had all the features I needed...then I hated it because it kept turning completely off (sound and picture) and going into battery saving mode but it wouldn't trigger itself to turn back on until my child was screaming. So even though he was wide awake and talking in bed it wasn't picking up the noise enough to stay one. Then I found the Manuel and figured out how to turn this feature off. Hooray! Loved the monitor again. Battery life isn't great but good enough. Then I started noticing that our television was really slow when trying to play shows on Amazon and Netflix at night after the kids were in bed. After two weeks of us resetting our router and messing with the tv, I had a faint memory come to me of a review I had read on Amazon about our monitor and how it was messing with the Internet. I leaned over, turned off the monitor and within seconds our movie played. Every night we now wait for my son to fall asleep so we can shut off the monitor to watch a show and then I turn it back on before we fall asleep. Luckily our son is 2 so it's not a huge issue for us (that's why I gave it 4 stars) but for an infant, deal breaker!
Update: unit eventually failed but excellent customer service
October 3, 2014
Update August 21, 2015:Good news and bad news. The bad news is that after owning this for 11 months (the system has a 12 month warranty), the monitor stopped working. The good news is that I discovered that Infant Optics has fantastic customer service and sent me a new unit very quickly. So despite the monitor eventually failing, I am leaving my overall rating at 4 stars. In terms of the problem, the welcome page stopped appearing when I would turn the monitor on, despite all the led lights illuminating. The user manual addresses a similar issue, and suggests to remove the battery for 10 minutes and put it back in. I tried this but it still did not work.I contacted their customer service representative Mae who was extremely helpful. After explaining what happened, they shipped me a new unit as soon as I verified that I had sent them the defective one (before they actually received it). We had the new unit 3 days after reporting the problem.Original Review:I bought this monitor based upon its popularity and good reviews. So far I am happy with it and am glad I did not spend a significant amount more for a different monitor. In addition to this, I also purchased a standard wireless camera with night vision (not necessarily designed to be used as a baby monitor). With that one, I can watch the crib on any wireless device. With this, we can only watch it on the one monitor that is supplied with the camera, and you can not buy monitors separately. Since we keep the monitor on my wife's side of the bed, I can not see it if I wake up in the middle of the night and want to see how the baby is. The benefit of this over the wireless camera though is that the wireless one has much more pixelation. As others have mentioned, there is a problem using WIFI networks when this system is use. However, after following the instructions that came with the device to set my WIFI router to a constant channel (Ch 1) instead of allowing it to choose automatically, those problems have gone away.

Good for a changing table or to convert a dresser
November 23, 2016
We bought this as a thicker, more comfortable changing pad than the thin one that came with our changing table. It fits that bill very well, and fits right on the table with a little bit of extra room around the sides. The straps are stitched directly to the back of this pad, so I ended up simply replacing the ones that came attached to the table, and it seems to be working so far. A standard size pad cover fit on this just fine even with the extra height (presumably why it's a little narrower than the other one). All in all, does just what we needed, and would work very well for someone setting up a normal dresser or table as a changing station.
good contour pad
August 21, 2016
I have to say it is so convenient to have this changing pad and it is really great for diaper changing and powdering for my baby. The contoured sides and a set of straps with buckle to make sure your child in securely while on the table, that give me great confident of protecting my baby from rolling off. And the straps can attach the pad to the dresser or table. So the total thing is secure.
Considering so many changing pads are pretty darn expensive
June 26, 2016
Considering so many changing pads are pretty darn expensive, I love that this one is super affordable and I can't really tell the difference from the other more expensive versions on the market. The fabric is kinda plastic-y feeling, so it doesn't absorb any grossness that might occur during diaper changes and it wipes clean. I like the safety strap feature for extra peace of mind when dealing with a wiggly baby. Mine didn't have a weird chemical smell at all, so not sure what the other reviewers are talking about there....maybe I just got lucky or they changed materials since then. Overall, I think it's a great value.
Good Value, Works Well
November 30, 2015
After seeing the prices the big box stores wanted for a changing table pad, we ran to Amazon. We picked this up for about 50% of the big box cost.So far we've gone through two of these pads and have been pleased. With both, we have only noticed a slight plastic smell that many other reviewers mentioned. Nothing overwhelming. We've found this pad works perfectly well and does seem to fit all standard covers. To answer some common questions:- The pad measures 31 1/2" long by 16" wide (see photos)- There is a set of straps to securely buckle your child in while on the table, and a third strap for securing (with a screw) the pad to the dresser or table. There are no "grips" on the bottom of the pad. Because of its plastic outside, it's actually quite slick when placed on a hard surface.- We've had no problems fitting several different standard covers, from different makers, to this padBe aware that, while the plastic itself is waterproof, the "quilted" perforations in the cover appear to let liquid soak in. I happened to be changing my son while our covers were being washed and he had a blowout. I cleaned up the poo immediately and expected it to wash away. But as you can see (photos attached), some of it seems to have gotten through and permanently stained the pad. Obviously a perfect storm of events for that to happen, but wanted to point it out.Overall a good purchase, especially for the price.
Must Have Changing Pad for a Great Price
June 14, 2015
This changing pad is great for the price and quality. It fits nicely on top of a changing table or dresser and the contoured sides help give peace of mind that baby can't just roll oven the edge (but this doesn't mean you should leave your baby unattended!). Easy to clean material of you have an accident that soaks through the changing pad cover.Any standard sized changing pad cover will fit over this. I've purchased summer infant brand covers, as well as other brands of changing pad covers and they all fit well.I took away one star because of how slippery this pad is. With or without a cover, it can easily slide all over the top of the dresser that we have it placed on. It would be nice if there was some sort of rubber strip or spot on the bottom, in the middle, so that it is non-slip.Besides the above reasoning, I still think this is a great purchase for anyone in need of a changing pad. It's a great price and I would recommend to any new parent looking for an affordable and nice quality changing pad.
Nice, but stinky initially
June 19, 2013
Yes, some of them do have a residual smell and it does stink if you put your nose to it. I let it air out and it's fine now. It's a nice pad. I think it's the right 'plushness' as it's not too soft that you can't do anything with it but not too hard that the poor child is freaking out.I sewed my own cover for it by just tracing it on extra fabric I had. Any spills and I just wash the cover and wipe that sucker off, I appreciate how easy it is to clean. Fits well in my changing table and I like the contoured sides. Good price for it being new.Update:After using this for 4 months, here's what I've noticed-It gets much softer after being used for a while, but still keeps its shape-If you don't have a cover and use it, be careful of getting anything from the diaper on it. The texturing has a design of tiny circles that are depressed and baby messes easily get in them and will dry without you knowing. They're small enough to where you can't get it clean with a wet wash cloth unless you really scrub. It's a little irritating because I don't see it being dirty initially and then I have to spend about 10 minutes cleaning it up.But, it still is great to have, it fits nicely on the changing table and gives my baby enough comfort during changings.

Monitors go bad within the first year.
May 22, 2017
This monitor was great in the beginning. It was inexpensive, it had good picture and sound, and was reliable. But after a year or so the monitor screen goes bad. The picture gets too bright so that you can't see what's happening in the room. This has happened with both of our monitors. The cameras still work fine, but the video part of the monitors are almost useless. We're definitely getting a different brand for our third monitor. I contacted the company to see if I could just purchase the monitor by itself since the cameras we have are fine, and they said "No, you have to buy the whole set." Don't waste your money, unless you only plan on using the monitors for a few months.
Decent, no frills monitor.
March 15, 2017
I've had this monitor for about 2 1\2 years now. It's been a decent monitor and I'd like to give it 3 1/2 stars. Here's my take:Pros:Clear picture (black and white).Good range (I'm in split level 1600 foot house, works in all areas, attached garage, and a little ways outside even.)Voice activated/ stand by mode so it's not always running.Long cords to reach an outlet.Good range of motion to adjust camera position.Sturdy. I've dropped it several times and it's still going.Cons:Battery life of handheld monitor is not great. By year 2 now it has to be plugged most of the time. Holds maybe a 2-3 hr charge. And that's in stand by mode.Glitchy in that once in awhile the standby voice activation won't click on, won't activate when baby is crying and I'll hear them myself without monitor alerting.Buttons are kind of awkward. Have to learn the sequence of holding button x and button y together to activate a feature.
Quality started to fail after one year
February 28, 2017
I've been using this monitor on a nightly basis for 17 months. It was great for about 15 months. Then something started to go wrong with the night vision. The screen would "white out" for the most part and it was hard to see where the baby was in the crib (as opposed to her stuffed animal). Sometimes if I turn the handheld parent unit off after 3-4 hours and then turn it back on, the "white out" screen goes away and I get the nice, crisp night vision I enjoyed previously. But 90% of the time, the night vision has stopped working properly. The sound monitoring portion of this unit still works fine, but I will probably replace it since the camera portion is now pretty worthless. My only other complaint is that it's not very easy to figure out how to change the mode so that the video will "sleep" until there is a sound from the baby's room. Having the video monitor on all night creates a lot of extra light in our bedroom and my husband and I prefer to sleep in a dark room. If the manufacturer makes an update to this model, I would suggest a button for easily clicking the video on or off.
Okay for price
January 6, 2017
A baby monitor is one of those nice to have things so with everything else that we needed for our first born, we couldn't afford to spend much on one. So I did my diligent research and decided on this one. It had the simple features we needed and wasn't too expensive. It worked great at first but after months of use I don't care for it much anymore. First the antenna part on the camera broke, it just kinda falls out of place and hangs by the wires. Then the battery life of the monitor went to crap, making it pretty much useless unless it's plugged in which makes carrying it around impossible. The good things are that it has a good enough range that I could take our dog out to potty while the baby slept and the voice activation helped me sleep since there wasn't the constant monitor glow. But that was in the beginning before the battery stopped holding a charge.I decided that next child we're going to spring for a more expensive model that the feed can be watched with a smart phone, one less thing to worry about charging and carrying around.
Good monitor but the DXR-8 is worth it!
August 20, 2016
I purchased this unit and the DXR-8 with my own money so this is a review from your average consumer. This baby monitor operated just fine for monitoring our baby. The big issue we had with it (and this was a very BIG issue) is that anytime the camera was on, it severely interfered with the wifi in our home. We had to be in the same room with the router to even use our laptops. Our smart TV could not update when the baby monitor was on. PlayStation couldn't update either. We finally bought the Infant Optics DXR-8 and it does not interfere with the wifi AT ALL. The DXR-8 costs more but it is so worth it because the camera itself is so much better and we can actually use our wifi. We have Att Uverse internet. The DXR-8 has many features including a camera that can pan, elevate, and zoom so you can see all over the room. The monitor (or parent unit) charges by micro USB just like your cell phone and many other devices. Very convenient so you are not confined to one area to charge it. And the battery life is great. Again, the DXR-5 is a good baby monitor but the DXR-8 is leaps and bounds better.
Great Monitor - Kills Wifi Signal
April 10, 2015
The unit itself is great and is very simple to setup. The picture is crisp and the night-time image is great. The voice activated sound/video feature is amazing and works very well even with a sound machine going.Unfortunately, I had to immediately return this item since it was killing my entire wireless network. This unit (and all comparable models) uses something called 2.4 Ghz FHSS (Automatic Frequency Hoping System). This is a cheap way to encrypt the data stream and reduce interference FOR ITSELF. Unfortunately, this unit constantly jumps throughout the frequency bands causing interference across the board for all other devices using 2.4 Ghz signals. The unit comes with a short sheet saying that if it causes interference, you should set your router to use frequency band 1. I tried this and it did help some, but it still caused a 50% drop in the normal signal range of my wireless. All of this being said, this could be a great device for you if:a. All 2.4 Ghz devices in your house have excellent signal right now and would still work properly with a large drop in signal strength.b. You use only 5 Ghz devices in your house (802.11 N).c. You do not need to use your wireless devices and the baby monitor at the same time (turning off just the handheld unit and leaving the camera turned on eliminates the signal interference).I will be switching over to an IP camera that works WITH my router, instead of against it.

Looks like a great changing pad
June 22, 2017
I compared the size of this product to the one I already own, and it appeared they should be the same size, 16x32, so I was assuming all of my changing pad covers would work on this. Not the case, it seems to be a couple inches longer and my PB changing pad covers do not fit this thing, when they are designed for a 16x32 pad... I haven't pulled a tape measure out to see which one lies about the size, but I'm guessing it's this one since it is the odd one out. Looks like a great changing pad, but disappointed about the size discrepancy.
About as expected for the price.
July 30, 2016
This is about what I expected. This was one of the least expensive contoured changing pads available and if I were to purchase another one, I would consider going up to something a little better. The outer fabric doesn't seems to stand a little above the inner pad around the contoured sides. The bottom, which they say is non skid doesn't seem to be non skid at all and it freely slides on top of the dresser I have it on. It does have a connector for attaching to a table or dresser but requires a screw to be attached to the back of the dresser. This will keep the pad from falling off the dresser but it will still slide back and forth on the dresser (how much depends on exactly how it was attached). This would be so much better if the bottom was more non skid. I may look into some type of velcro attachments to fix it to one spot better.
Holes in the side
June 27, 2016
I ordered this as a 'package already opened'. When I received this there were holes in the side of the changing pad, I ordered this knowing the package would be opened however I was not aware there were holes in the product. The product itself seems like its good quality and it fits in our changing table. I'd give it a better review if it came with no holes.
Too big for 2 out of 2 changing tables
May 18, 2016
Sad that this is advertised as fitting most changing tables... it is about 2 inches longer than the average changing table is. We have 2 different changing tables in the house and this is too big for both of them. Worst part is that it is a great changing pad. Water proof/resistant material and the wings on the side hold baby in well. I wanted to give this 5 stars but it's lucky to get what it is getting. I don't like when companies advertise so shady. It makes for bad customer experiences.
Great changing pad with the exception of the straps
December 17, 2015
This changing pad is decently padded and easy to clean. I gave it 3 stars just because of the straps. I know they are there for safety's sake but we never leave the baby on the changing table anyway. We just had the pad on the top of our babies dresser and the straps ended up really doing a number on the wood.We tried putting a blanket over the dresser to prevent any more damage and this just led to the changing table sliding all over the place. There is no where to put the straps away when not in use. I ended up ripping the straps off of ours and would recommend anyone buying this do the same.
Thick changing pad but beware - it slides around
October 14, 2013
We are having our third child in a few weeks and I purchased this changing pad as a replacement for a worn out one I bought 5 years ago.The old one had two straps (one on each end) that would secure it to our changing table, and I expected this Summer Infant one to be the same. Unfortunately, it has just one strap in the middle of the pad that secures it with a screw to the changing table. It slides all over the place and does not feel secure at all. I worry that with a wiggly baby it won't stay in place. It is a nice cushy changing pad, however, I was disappointed that there is only one strap to secure it, rather than the two my old one had.One the bright side, it was fairly easy to secure to the table, and it seems to be nice and cushy for the baby. I purchased a few changing pad covers for it and I think it will work.

Not my choice for monitors
June 3, 2017
I'm not too happy with this monitor. To be fair I've used this monitor for over a year. I wanted to give it a chance to see if it would grow on me. My biggest complaint is the screen doesn't shut off so I have had to make a cover out of multiple post its and tape. It works like a flap so I can see baby when I want to, and can sleep without the "super bright" screen lighting up my room. However despite my efforts, it's never fully blocked out the light. My second biggest complaint is the signal suddenly dropping in the middle of the night and waking us up with loud consistent beeps. It will do this until I get up and go into the hall and turn the device off and then on. I'll first try to change channels and it never works. I live in a 900 square foot house. My babies room and my room are right next to each other, well within range. I'm not sure why it does this. The thing I like most about this monitor is the ability to adjust the volume. It adjusts down to 0... not that I want to not hear my kid, but there's been hard nights where he just needs to cry. I can have the volume low enough to not bother my husband who has to work in the morning, but high enough that I can still hear him.
Cannot recommend
March 9, 2017
Have had this product for 2.5 years and have had to replace the monitor hand held portion twice and this third one just gave out again. The customer service was pretty good both times for replacing under warranty but a product should really last more than a few months. I am disappointed because now I have 2 cameras and no monitor to view them. I went with this product because was good price, secure, & met basic needs. Also my sister used for her kids and had no trouble. I would say mine was a dud but has happened repeatedly now so the quality must have decreased from when she bought hers 8 years ago. I cannot recommend this product. Was ok while it worked (even then fuzzy screen half the time) but each one I had worked less than a year.
Congrats on making a monitor that wakes up children
December 8, 2015
This works decently. It has a long range (huge plus for me), the picture is nice, and the night vision is good. The battery life in the receiver is crap and when it is dying it beeps super loud and very often. This will eventually wake your kid up.When you turn the receiver on, for a very short split second, you hear the last thing that was on the monitor when it was last shut off. Very likely, the last time you shut this thing off was when your kid was crying and you went in to get them. So, again, you've gotten them soundly to sleep, then you turn on the monitor and for a split second there might be a loud scream......this will eventually wake your kid up.It also beeps like mad when the receiver is on and the camera is not. Picture this scenario, you've just gotten your cranky bundle of joy to sleep...you turn the receiver on not realizing the camera isn't on, BLAMO, super loud beep goes off and wakes up you crazy child. Followed up directly by you throwing the monitor out the window......you hitting the window will eventually wake up your kid.It destroys your wifi signal. This is the one unforgivable thing and why I will be returning the item. Please don't respond and tell me to move my devices 3 feet away from the monitor bc that doesn't work. It is also unrealistic for me to have the receiver 3 feet away from me all the time.
Cons outweigh the pros
November 5, 2015
I struggled with how many stars to give this monitor. Anyone who is looking at monitors knows that they are expensive, but worth their weight in gold. Our baby is now 4 months old, so I feel like I can give it a fair rating at this point. We chose this because of the price and the great reviews. For what we needed, the step up from this just didn't seem worth the extra money. We are happy with our decision, but there are some pros and cons that should be noted:PROS:*Price! This is an incredible value!*Picture quality-we have friends who have the step up from this monitor, and I really feel that our picture quality is better!*"Vox" feature. You can turn this on so that the screen isn't on 100% of the time. After a period of silence, the receiver display will go dark until sound begins again.*You can use multiple cameras with one receiverCONS:*The stand that holds the receiver up is made of cheap-ish plastic and is noisy when carrying the receiver around. This might not seem like a big deal until you have it in your baby's nursery and are trying to sneak out, only to have an annoying clicking on the monitor that you had with you. Or, when it's on your bedside table and you're trying to get a look at your baby without waking your spouse.*There is no battery life icon on the receiver. So if your unit isn't plugged in, there is no way to know where you're at with your battery life, until the unit starts beeping. Again, it would just be nice to have an idea of when the battery was running low before the beeping started.*While the "vox" setting is great to have, it defaults to off any time you change the volume or brightness. These cons might seem trivial to parents expecting their first child. We read many reviews such as these and thought the reviewers were possibly being a little too picky :) However, despite these, the pros most definitely outweigh the cons for this monitor. I would definitely recommend this monitor to parents, I just hope that, over time, the manufacturer can make some small changes that will make it even better!UPDATE: After using this monitor for 18 months, I'm downgrading my rating. The longer we had the monitor, the more the "cons" mentioned above became a problem and honestly, just annoying. We are now expecting our second child and will most definitely be purchasing a new monitor to use for that baby. Here are some other issues we've noticed since my last review:*Most importantly-when the "vox" feature is on, if the power to the receiver goes off, there is no notification. Numerous times, I have looked down at the monitor, and it's dead. At that point, you have no idea if your baby has cried out, or needed attention, because the battery died with no way of notifying you.*Even more concerning is that we have had multiple times where the baby crying or coughing has woken me up in the night but the monitor hasn't clicked on-it didn't register the sound at all. It's possible this is an isolated defect, however, when I contacted customer service, I was disappointed in their "help". We received this as a gift, and because we didn't have the receipt, they would not even exchange our receiver for a different unit.We had read quite a bit about the great customer service of Infant Optics, and were really disappointed by their lack of help.Overall, as I said in my first review, monitors are expensive. However, it is one of your most valuable baby tools. You will use it for years-spend a little extra and get a model that isn't cheap and unreliable.
Great basic baby monitor
August 28, 2015
This is a basic baby monitor. It works as designed.Positives: long battery life, clear picture for such a small screen, speaker is loud, mic doesn't always pick up every sound so you can sleep at night, ability to add extra cameras for same monitor.Negatives: the monitor always switches between night and day mode at night, interferes with wifi sometimes, hard to get it adjusted to view in desired position.Long term update:What I've learned since buying this In 2015:After about 6 months I had issues with this device blocking wifi reception. It was to the point I could not even use any device on wifi within 10ft of the monitor or camera. Manufacturer response was "return and we will refund you". I said meh it just work around itAfter about 10 months the camera night Vision started having issues where the picture was very white (not dark and easily visible on the monitor). Sometimes it would take 10-15 restarts of the monitor to get a good quality picture like it did when new. Now after 20 months of use the night vision went out and the picture on the monitor is black. I ended up unplugging the camera from the outlet a few times and it came back. I'm sure within a few weeks the camera will be totally dead and I will toss the whole system.Surprisingly the battery still lasts about 2-3 hours on a full charge which is a positive. I can reach outside my house to the backyard and still get a picture (when the camera works)Overall if I were to do it again I would have just spent the $250 on a high quality color philips camera or something with a longer warranty.
2nd camera unreliable, audio leaves a lot to be desired
June 14, 2014
We bought this to replace a single camera from a Summer model. We used it reliably for our first child from 3 months to 2 years 4 months. When we had our second child we wanted a monitor with two cameras. Here is a list of the things we liked and didn't like. The video quality is really good. The audio is irritating and the auto mute feature is unreliable. It is difficult to understand when the VOX is working and when it isn't.The base and swivel features for the camera is clunky. We had to mount the 2nd camera on the wall to get a view on the crib. Our last Summer camera was so flexible we could wrap the wire around the corner of the crib and find a way to point it without putting screws in the wall. The second camera paired easily enough and worked great. Then it stopped working. I even reconfigured my WiFi router to different channels in case that was causing interference - but to no avail. This is the entire reason we purchased this system, so if I cannot rely on the 2nd camera the whole system is useless to me.If you have more than 1 camera and less than 4, you have to scroll through the unused camera channels to get back to the cameras that you are using. That is a dumb design - if the other channels are unused there should be a means to disable them. If one kid starts crying suddenly at 3 AM, I don't see how you can have to have the presence of mind to patiently scroll through channels until you get to the one you want... that's just ridiculous. I know that when I shoot out of bed in the middle of the night I'm rarely logical or patient. It does feel light and flimsy, unlike the Summer Slim & Secure that we've had for >2 years.Given the other reviews on here that cite interference problems (assuming that is what is causing my 2nd camera to fail the connection) it would seem that this product fails to do what it says it should do. I never had any problems with the Summer, but this is quite unsatisfactory.

Poor quality and twisted shinny noisy covering. Sending this thin cushion back.
October 19, 2016
Very disappointed in the quality. The padding is too thin. The covering is twisted and will not stay flat against the cushion, straps are too chuncky. I will not go by the number of great reviews. This is a big waste of my time and now I need to hurry and find a replacement. The reviews are stacked perhaps from a free giveaway.
Soft and fits changing pad. As other reviewers have ...
March 18, 2016
Soft and fits changing pad. As other reviewers have made mention, there is a stain where there is a hole in the bag. There is a round hole that exposes part of it so you can touch it and feel how soft it is. This circle or hole exposes it enough so it gets a blackish stain in that area, which happens to be right in the middle of it. Does not come out with washing. I'll keep it for the price but would not order again.
Tiny holes means this changing pad DOES NOT WIPE CLEAN
March 6, 2016
Tiny holes in the quilted plastic are impossible to clean! If baby pees or poops while being changed, it gets into the tiny holes and DOES NOT WIPE CLEAN easily. This sort of defeats the purpose of a changing pad. Look for a changing pad without tiny holes!
Not holding my breath...
January 7, 2016
Upon opening the package, I found it already had a rip the size of a quarter in the white cover. The stuffing is not immediately falling out, but gentle use may change that. I suspect this is due to the cheapness of the material.Otherwise, it is just OK. Hopefully it lasts at least a year - but given it already had a hole in it, I am not holding my breath.
Cheap and light
January 29, 2015
Kind of cheap and light. I had one of these for my son a few years back and it held up so well that I bought another for my new baby. The quality seems to be less. It is so light that unless you bolt it to the dresser (Who wants a hole drilled in your nice furniture??) it just slips and slides right off, especially with a kicking and active baby. I have had it for six months and was just changing the cover on it and noticed the pad has turned yellow all over (this is not dirt, we have had no accidents on it!). I would recommend going with something a little sturdier and heavier.
not great
September 1, 2014
i never thought i'd have an opinion on a changing pad but this one is hard to clean and the outer plastic layer does not fully protect water from soaking the inner cushion looking for reviews for a better one to replace mine.

Terrible. Sound skips, bad battery.
June 26, 2017
After a few days use, the sound started skipping and would just stop sometimes altogether. Super frustrating and concerning to a new parent trying to make sure their newborn is safely sleeping. Battery lasted 30 min tops for us at full charge. Night vision camera works decently but this product is pretty much crap. I bought because of the good reviews and supposed good value but really seems cheaply made and not worth it. Best to invest in something of higher quality.
Terrible monitor. Terrible customer service.
February 12, 2017
This is a terrible monitor. We have been having issues with this monitor since my son was about a month old. He is 16 months old and it is barely useable. We are now looking to replace this monitor with a different type and will never use this brand again. When I tried reaching out to Infant Optics when we started having issues, I was told that it was too late for them to do anything about it because we had owned it for more than 30 days. We purchased the monitor two months before our baby was born, so we had only been using it for less than that amount of time when it first showed signs of not working well. The monitor can die without alerting you, so we have, on several occasions, woken up in the middle of the night to the monitor being off and we have no idea for how long or if our child had woken up at all. At this point, the video is sometimes jumpy or jumbled but usually barely shows up. The screen is almost completely gray and you can barely see what is on the other end or if there is even movement. Sometimes the voice activated feature does not kick in, and the monitor will be asleep while we can hear our baby crying through the walls. We are about to have our second child and I will NOT be purchasing another camera to add to this monitor. This is a total letdown since we did extensive research and trusted the high reviews on Amazon. If it was just that we got a faulty unit, I would have hoped that the company would have worked with us, but we have been stuck with this for nearly a year and a half and are in the market for a new monitor.
Quiet speaker, device locks up in the middle of the night
October 11, 2016
Continually disappointed by this baby monitor. We received it as a gift and then it sat in the box for a couple of months until the baby moved into his own room. My first observation was that the volume is very low. I think that the microphone is pretty good, it picks up sounds well, I think it's the speaker on the parent side that is weak. Even with the volume all the way up, I have to run a cord over so it sits right next to my head to be confident that it's going to wake me up. Some people talk about their baby monitors as if it's just like the baby is there in the room with them. This is not that monitor. I want volume all the way up to mean that I can hear it while I'm in the shower, not barely wake me up.Second, the video. I will grant them - it has exceptional video quality. Nice work.Third, the reception. We don't have a large house (1750sqft) and our bedroom is the opposite side of the house from the nursery. It seems to more or less keep its signal - it cuts out momentarily pretty regularly, but has never yet totally lost its signal.Next, the special features. It's advertised to have a feature that turns off video and/or audio until it detects something out of the ordinary. We tested it out - my wife with the receiver and me in the other room in front of the camera. I spoke directly to it in a normal speaking voice while doing jumping jacks in front of it. Came back into the room and she said, "Did you do anything yet?" Didn't turn on. Well, I'd consider that a failure...But finally, what made me want to write this review, is that the unit has completely failed on us twice in the month or so that we've been using it. As in, it locks up. See the video for what this looks like. Twice now, I've been awoken faintly hearing what sounded a lot like screaming, only to see a baby lying perfectly peacefully on the video with no sound coming out. Open the door to hear, yes, the baby is screaming, for who knows how long. The monitor freezes on the image and sound cuts out, and no buttons work on the device. You have to pull the battery (twice, oddly) in order to reset it so it comes back on. Twice in a month seems unacceptable for me.In short, because this device literally has one purpose and it's not very good at it, I have to go to one star.
It's ok. Customer Service is horrible.
August 4, 2016
Customer Service is ridiculous. Their website says they have "unparalleled service". I disagree. I called customer service and they have two ridiculous policies. 1. is they asked me to record a video of what is happening. I explained this only happens in the middle of the night. They proceeded to ask me again to "try it" and place my phone nearby so I could do this at 3am. I asked the CS rep if she had a baby, she said yes. So I said, so you know what it is like to be woken up by your baby in the middle of the night, yet you want me to record a video of the monitor?? She said my question was irrelevant.2. After agreeing to replace the monitor, they said I have to send the monitor back and then they will send a replacement. HUH? So you want me to stay without a monitor for how long? She said I can ask a supervisor for an exception so they can send out my replacement first. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she said they do not take calls but she would request someone to call me.The actual monitor is ok. I like the VOX feature and Auto Mute. The downsides are it keeps loosing the image in the middle of the night and makes a beeping noise. I have to cycle through the cameras to get the image back. It's ok when the baby wakes me up, but not so much the beeping monitor. The actual camera is a bit annoying to work with because it only pivots so much. So to get a shot of the crib, you have to mount on wall and plug in somewhere far from crib so baby can't grab wire. We tried to mount on a furniture piece but it doesn't pivot all the way down. It's ok, but if it happens to shift, you have to re-adjust it. Also, the mount has two hooks, so would be easier to mount on wall if it only had 1.Also, it recently lost it's pairings with the cameras and had to re-pair.
DO NOT BUY!
February 20, 2016
We did a lot of research for months to buy the best video monitor for the best price for our baby due the end of September 2015. We finally decided on your DXR-5 model and bought off amazon the beg. of September. As most babies do, ours slept in our room for the first 3-4 months so we did not need to use the monitor until about a month ago, the end of January. With only being used for a month, we are VERY DISAPPOINTED with the quality of this monitor. It is constantly saying "out of signal." We live in a 2 story 2000 sq house (so not very big), so this should not be anywhere close to "out of signal." It also will get a "fuzzy" screen with a green color often. It also will beep for no reason, after being on for a while (in the night), and then keep beeping until you shut it off and then turn it back on. Also, I know it blocks out background sound until it picks up the baby, but some of the time it won't pick up the baby crying. The charge does not last very long at all if its off the charger, and the screen will freeze with the only way of getting it unfrozen is to turn it off. I do not believe for $100+ this should be the quality of a monitor after only being used a month- month and a half.
It's also listed on countless blogs and rating sites as being in the top tier of Best Monitors. Needless to say
April 2, 2015
We needed a new monitor to replace the Summer video monitor we have been using for 3 yrs that quit working. I researched monitors for WEEKS and this one seemed to be the clear choice. It's also listed on countless blogs and rating sites as being in the top tier of Best Monitors. Needless to say, I had high hopes/expectations. It arrived quickly and was packaged amazingly and looked very high quality. Unfortunately, after 5 days & nights of using this monitor, I have returned it. I wanted to like it but it basically it does not work! We live in a small 1,200 sq. ft. ranch (one story) house. The video monitor kept going in and out of signal constantly even if just down the hall. The picture was wonderful, very bright on the screen even though the room is pitch black but if I can't hear my baby crying, who cares about what the picture looks like. Yeah...our baby would be crying for 30-60 sec. (sometimes even wailing) before the video monitor sound would kick on. This is absolutely unacceptable. The very second baby starts to cry I should know. Once the sound did pick up/kick on, after about 10 sec. the signal would go out and we could see him crying and making lots of noise but no sound coming from monitor. Not okay...at all! Then the sound would come back, go back off, etc. The signal button just flashes all the time. It just goes in and out constantly. We have tried turning both camera and monitor off, turning it back on, repositioning both devices, etc. Nada. Still same problems. My cell phone works off of Wifi and if I tried to get online with my phone and I was within 1-3 feet of monitor, I couldn't get online at all. Also another major problem because my phone is next to me at all times. Very disappointed because I really wanted to love this monitor. Bummer...

Not Waterproof - Pee is absorbed into the quilting
January 8, 2017
NOT Waterproof! The pee will NOT stay on the surface of the pad, rather it will sink INTO the quilting holes. Impossible to clean the stains as the pee is stuck underneath the surface in the foam.
Horrible smell! & Too big.
November 26, 2016
The chemical smell that hit me when I opened the box (the pad was still in a plastic wrapper) gave me a headache that lasted for hours. Called to return it immediately. Too big for my changing table anyway.
Did not like!
November 20, 2016
I felt the plastic made a funny noise and separated from the base. I recommend the colgate changing pad over this one! Not a fan.

August 31, 2016
This has little holes it it and gets moldy if little one has an accident on it!!!!! The holes are not a defect! This is just the way it's manufactured! Do not buy. Even if you clean the accident immediately, liquid leaks in and you cannot get it out. Thus...the mold.
Horrible
February 10, 2016
Read all the great reviews and figured this would be perfect for what I needed. I was wrong. Its too big to fit onto my average size changing table, the straps on it won't snap together so it doesn't move and my cover won't even go on it because of the size. I haven't even had a chance to use it and the price I paid isn't worth sending it back for a refund for a new one.
Four Stars
May 6, 2015
After using it for about 5 months, with maybe a few peeing/pooping accidents that made it to the pad, i had to throw it away due to the fact that the pad was reeking of urine, no matter how much cleaning i did. DEFINITELY NOT 100 PERCENT WATER PROOF!
