Side by Side Comparison of: Smith & Wesson vs Vipertek

I'm posting this review, in part, because the seller emailed me. The day my product shipped, the seller emailed to tell me it was on the way and to wish me happiness with my product and to let me know I should reach out to them if I had any questions or concerns. They were wrong about the day of delivery, by one day, but that might well be my local post office (we've had issues). Then, today, a few days after delivery, the seller emailed me a request to please leave a high review or contact them if I had any concerns.

I have no concerns.

I do not love these so much that I'd go leave an unsolicited review, but I have a few minutes to burn and no reason to complain. They are exactly what I wanted.

I bought them to practice escaping. They are every bit as solid and real as advertised. The double-lock is solid (this is a slot-style) and the mechanism is smooth. I would feel comfortable using these professionally, and I will know that I will be getting good practice out of them.

They are a good standard size. The double-lock is firm. The metal is in good shape. The pivots slide 360-degrees smoothly.

DO NOT USE THESE FOR BDSM PLAY. You can hurt yourself. Use soft cuffs that are made for prolonged sessions. Learn shibari. Improvise with a pillowcase or your/their clothing.

I really like these new cuffs. My old Smith & Wessons served me well for many years and the quality is still there! The double lock is a little different than what I am accustomed to but it's still very simple.

Good locking handcuffs. These lock by inserting the end of the key into slot sliding the pin inside. I got these for a bicycle lock.

The cuffs say new but there is a number hand etched into them like they were going to be used on duty. They work perfect so I am not complaining one bit

Good quality and they function as you would think real handcuff would!

I did buy this as a toy for the bedroom, but it really is heavy duty. I guess I could really use it for my future career. It's sturdy and well made, but definitely be careful when using it as a toy.

 The video shows me dropping and smacking them to try and rely weight, size, material and heft.

if 50% is average, my wrists are 45% for someone 6ft, 170lbs
These probably won't work on a 'very large individual'. At least, not comfortably.
But if my experience of watching cops for 30 years, everyone says they are tight and no one wears these for enjoyment.

I like them so far.

I bought these for general purpose. Something I'll probably never need, or if I do, it will be for costume purpose.
However, they seem legit. I can't break them and I did try. 6ft, 170lb. They feel like they could take a lot more than I can dish out.

They work without flaw and I have no complaints. The price is very reasonable.
They will be going in my emergency kit for who knows what. Cray mofos on pcp perhaps.

One key will go on my keyring.. Not paranoid. But ya never know when you might want to escape someone who put these on you. Frat party, scorned lover, or abusive cop. Why not?

Oh, and if you're buying these for kink. Go with something a bit more gentle. These are not forgiving and not a toy.
Unless you like that. Then you do you.

Theses are definitely the real deal. Very heavy duty. My only complaint is that the outer metal coating chipped a little in one spot shortly after opening and having not used them at all, but that's purely an aesthetic complaint, which doesn't really matter.

I was looking for a pair of good quality, bargain priced handcuffs for some training efforts, and these cuffs fill the bill nicely. They were brand new, packaged well, and function great.

they come in the right box, but always look scuffed up. work fine.

Decent product

These are definitely not fake. I have these and a pair of ASP hinge cuffs. The ASP cuffs are definitely smoother than these. I had to oil the ratchet system on these but that's standard maintenance as it's metal on metal. Overall a great set of cuffs.

They don't double-lock like I had hoped. They will do the trick but they are not like my other S&W cuffs

These are solid handcuffs, heavy too. Now my kid just wants to lock my hands up all the time.

I really just needed to spend $10 to get free shipping and I have been starting to pick locks so I wondered how these work.
I did not find them easy to get out of, and they seem to be well built. I have not tried to break the chain though...
They "double lock", which means they can't be opened or tightened without the key. Apparently so you can keep someone from cutting off their circulation?

They seem to be built very well. Good and solid. My only complaint might be that they won't fit on a larger wrist very well if you're a police/security officer. Other than that, a great product.

These handcuffs are great for the price. They feel pretty sturdy. I only got them to figure out how to break out of them which I did. So they worked great for me. I'm sure they aren't as heavy duty as law enforcement but they will get the job done.

My cuffs are very strong and proved to be a bit better than the Mechtek that a local store sell, the only down to them is that you have to be careful where you out them other wise they could be dented a bit. the double lock feature is a bit tricky but worth it to keep a good grip.

They were scratched up when we got them, but my husband decided to keep them. He wasn't too concerned about it

I think they are great hand cuffs but when they were delivered to me they looked like they were used! They were sticky and dirty.

These work pretty good, when I got them they were already a little scratched up.

I would give 5 stars on the functionality and construction of the cuffs, but the overall appearance of the cuffs when I received them were horrible. I bought the nickel plated model and when I received them they were badly tarnished and some what scratched. So if you absolutely have to have nickel, I suggest polishing them up with flitz polish like I did. Otherwise I would go with the black model.

Seemed well used already, and a bit stiff, needs some oiling but for as often as I use them as a PT CO, it will do the job. However, they seem a bit smaller than I expected.

seam to be sturdy. haven't had them broken yet . hope they hold out

I'm starting with a 3 because unlike reported by other reviews Smith and Wesson Keys DO NOT work with these cuffs. I am a police officer and plan to use these daily. I purchased two pairs and will report back on my findings in the future.

Good product for the price. Budget minded reviewers I gotta say, sounds the same as Smith and Wesson 100 cuffs, slight variation in the double lock mechanism not bad though. Is a softer metal,by that I mean the Rockwell hardness. This could be an advantage. Harder Rockwell means harder but brittle. Draw back is they are made in Taiwan, however in comparison to Schrade and Smith and Wesson, well I can purchase two sets for their price of their one. Two is one and one is none in cuffs. In that aspect having a back up is Good purchase.

BUYER BEWARE
My experience with handcuffs have been that when holding the chain to restrict movement the key holes faced me and the moving arms both faced down with the double lock on top... This pair of cuffs has the key hole on the other side of the cuffs this could pose a threat to the person applying them as taking them off might be more of a struggle and that means you may find yourself distracted, off balence, vaunerable, ect. Besides this could be fatal flaw the handcuffs appear to be worth $10

While I find the cuffs to be ok a Zak tool cannot be used with these cuffs.

cuffs broke. . . .

When I opened the box, it seemed used. There are scratches on the handcuffs and hand prints on them and im positive they arent mine because I didnt taken them out of the box yet. In the long run, these are functional and able to be used but just disappointed that it seems second handed.

Meh. Security patrol grade cuffs'.

One key hole is up the other is on the other side, like it was made by a blind person. How am I supposed to cuff an inmate with these?

They say they're double locking but the handcuffs are not double locking. I would not recommend these cuffs.

Purchased these because they were the right price and had decent reviews but was very dissapointed when they arrived because my standard sized VIPERTEK cuffs don't fit. Even my partners S&W cuffs don't fit either. They still work but barely fit enough to close the case.

I would not recommend these for any law enforcement use. The key holes are on opposite sides of each other and a standard hand cuff key does not work on these. The feel flimsy but are surprisingly not. For the price they arent bad quality.

I was hoping a new product, box was previously opened ans just sealed with a little bit of tape, handcuffs were sratches and i have a hard time because they get stock... i defenetly don't believe they are new...and i piad for something new! Really disappointed with the product

Definitely used. Also double lock doesn't work. Could deal with it being second hand for the price but NOT broken.

Not happy at all

Good luck taking these off someone once you've put them on. The key hole is on the wrong side on one of the cuffs, making it a pain to remove. The only way to get both key holes facing you is to apply one of the cuffs in an improper, awkward manner. Total waste of my money.

Don't buy this. First time out of the box one key broke off in the lock, jamming it so it wouldn't open. Fortunately it wasn't on anyone! Dangerous and poorly made.

Cheap price for cheap cuffs. If you have both cuffs facing the same way the key hole is hard to get to. And if you don't have viper tek keys good luck son. Go with pierless or smith and wessen

Traditional handcuff keys don't work with this one, only the key that comes with it so be careful if you're using this as your second pair of cuffs at work or lose the key that comes with it
