| Perfect teapot for work.March 8, 2017 Perfect teapot for work. I fill this with hot water at work and a blooming tea ball. I have enough tea to last me the day. My co-workers are delighted by how lovely it is, and all wanted to know where I got it and how much it cost. Most were astonished at how inexpensive it was compared to other brands. The whole thing comes apart with a few screws so you can clean under the black plastic as well. That comes in handy if your roommate happens to put it in the dishwasher and bits of food get stuck behind it (nasty). I love that it is clear and can show off flowering teas. I have had mine for a few years now and I have gotten a lot of use out of it. The tea that comes with it is great. The only thing we wish that we could do differently is we wish that we could boil water directly in the container on the stove. You can't which appears obvious in the photo, but still very much worth the purchase. It is beautiful to display your blooming tea. Works great! The flower teas do not, and I suspect never will, sink and stay at the bottom of the tea pot when the hot water is added. Otherwise, the product is great! I have a tea pot that is identical in shape and style but is only slightly sturdier; however the other pot I have cost $29.99. In comparison, this is a good product and the cost is very reasonable. The only less than optimal aspect is that the screen is a little delicate; however if you keep that in mind during cleaning and usage it does not detract from the great bargain that this product can be. Good, but infuser rustsDecember 4, 2011 Purchased this in 2010 and still using after more than 1 year. This is not the fanciest of tea pots, but I was attracted by the plastic form and handle which make it more resistant to breaking. Overall I will consider this medium to low quality material, but it functions fine nevertheless. It is nice to be able to see the tea through the glass (as opposed to e.g. a cast iron tea pot), it has proven to be solid, and the infuser is relatively easy to clean (I use mostly Genmai-Cha green tea with brown rice so it has all kinds of bits and pieces). The only complaint is the metal infuser is rusting and this continues to get worse over time (there is also a small screw that holds the plastic tight to the glass and it is rusty also). In the long run this can't be good for my health so I'm going to seek a new tea pot, maybe something similar to Bonjour Prosperity, or maybe something from Bodum but its fragile glass concerns me... we shall see. I do like a pot around 40 ounce capacity: by the time I get around to drinking a third or fourth cup the water level gets right under the bottom line of the infuser and any further seeping is stopped along with any bitter taste (no fancy plungers needed). | | | | |

My house was 70 degrees. I put in the hot water and the bottom glass breaks off and spills hot tea all over my kitchen counter and floors. This is not "tempered glass". I knew better and decided to be a cheap-o. Lesson learned. Horrible. Just Horrible.November 22, 2015 I've never been so disappointed with a product before. I took the teapot out of the box and set it on the counter, but then it tipped over on its side and what do I see next? Shattered glass. It was so flimsy and thin, I couldn't believe at how weak the material was. I would understand it breaking if I dropped it on the ground, but guys, this thing tipped over on its SIDE and it broke. I should have taken a picture now that I think about it, but my initial reaction was to try to clean up the shards of glass... More trouble than it's worth. ChintzyFebruary 27, 2015 I requested a refund. While this product looks elegant and gift worthy in the photos, it is in fact rather chintzy. It is light weight, thin glass. The dark part is not metal it is plastic of the lightweight and brittle type. You cannot microwave or use this on the stove or in anyway heat water in it. I would say that it might be risky to even use it to hold/carry boiling water in due to the flimsy nature of the item. It is very small as well. It is NOT something you'd want to give as a gift. After less than a year, the infuser basket began to fall apart and seriously discolor. I never left the basket full of used tea, cleaning both the pot and basket as soon as we finished the pot so I don't think it was care related. I was already looking for a replacement infuser when the pot itself dropped its bottom mid pour of hot water this morning... literally dropped its bottom. The glass circle at the bottom of the pot popped out and I ended up the hot water all over the kitchen counter. Before you ask, I had warned the pot with hot water from the tap while I waited on the water to boil. We used the pot at least once daily since last July, the size perfect for our needs, but I can't recommend something that didn't even survive a year of reasonable and careful use.
