Awesome for 2013 hatchback ford focus!
October 17, 2016
I have a 2013 hatchback ford focus and it worked great! The instructions were clear and easy to follow and I had a easy and secure trip with my bikes from Tucson to Palm Springs with one aluminum road bike and one steel single speed (both 50" frames). My cross bar on my road bike was a bit thick and didn't settle into the cradle on the rack, but it sat nicely on top and I just used a couple bungees to ensure security.

The only negative thing for me was folding it up again the buttons are a bit stiff, but I would rather that than it collapse on itself when I don't want it to!

For my particular use this rack is functional, nice and small when it's folded up which makes it easy to store and even just keep in the trunk for whenever its need may arise, and a solid fit for my car. I highly recommend it.
Great value. This product perfectly serves it's purporse

Great value. This product perfectly serves it's purporse. We drove almost 600 miles with 2 bikes and haven't had any issues.
Very portable bike rack (Toyota Prius C 2014)
July 12, 2016
This was a very spontaneous purchase for my Toyota Prius C 2014. I just saw the price and pressed the 1-click, and I am not disappointed. This bike rack is very compact, letting me keep the bike rack inside my car, despite my car being so small. In addition, the bike rack is surprisingly sturdy. After securely fastening the three clips onto the car (2 on top, one on the bottom of the trunk door), the rack won't move. I was also a bit skeptical of how the back two legs also rely on the window for support, but that didn't become a problem as they are protected by rubber feet.

Some things about the bike: When using just one bike, the bike tends to swing up and down because only the top tube is secured onto the rack. You can use a rope to tie the bottom portion of the frame onto the bottom portion of the rack so that it doesn't flap around on the freeway. (I saw my bike going up and down from my rear view mirror going at around 70 mph).
Also, the front wheel will move from side to side, so I secured that using the extra long strap that connects the bike rack to the car. After tightening the strap, there's a lot of length left to double knot the front wheel to the frame of the bike.

Overall, very good spontaneous purchase that lets me go around places without literally taking my bike apart to fit it inside the tiny trunk that I have.
Great for the Cost
September 16, 2015
small, portable, works great. the bottom attachment doesn't stay attached though, but that's because of my car not the rack, I have a kia soul 2015 and the area of the trunk that the bottom tie on the rack attaches to is a bit sloped preventing the attachment from gripping well. The solution I found for this is just to extent the tie long enough to reach inside the trunk and have someone inside the car hold it in place while the trunk is closed on top of it. even if the bottom tie isn't tied off it still works fine but I'm paranoid so that is why I close it in the trunk.
Allen Sports Bike Rack
June 21, 2015
What a surprise it was to receive this little box containing the Allen Bike Rack. It was fully assembled and folded out to a superbly constructed two-bicycle bike rack. And then folds back into a small package that barely takes up any room in the trunk. I don't worry about the rack shifting on the car loaded with my bicycle as I travel 120 miles to cycle with one of my best friends. I'm super happy with my purchase.

Easy to set-up and use bike rack
August 2, 2017
I got this bike rack to move across the country, and I couldn't be happier with it. It was very easy to adjust and fit to my car, and my road bike was very stable with the straps that come with the rack. I added a little section of a pool noodle for padding for the bottom bar, but I don't think it was really necessary. The only thing I am not sure will age well are the spring clips that allow for easy and quick adjustments, but if that becomes an issue I'll come back and update my review. Until then I couldn't be happier with a bike rack that didn't break the bank!
Great Purchase
August 10, 2016
After reading many reviews I selected this rack. I had wanted a 4 bike trunk rack but settled for this 3 bike rack because of the reviews I read. Very satisfied with this rack. Installed quickly and easily on the car. Drove 800 miles (twice) on I - 80 and the rack was solid. Retainers held bikes securely although I do use bungee cords for extra security. They were not really needed. Clips did not damage car and supports did not damage car finish.
it worked great for a 1400 mile drive
June 28, 2016
Though the instructions said that this rack wasn't meant for my Acura TL, it worked great for a 1400 mile drive!!!! Never had the straps come loose and it was extremely sturdy! As long as when you install it to your car you make sure none of the parts can damage your trunk or bumper, you should be fine!!
Perfect!
June 13, 2016
I used this rack for the first time when I went to pick up my new bike at a bike shop the other day. This rack worked perfectly!! I didn't even need to use bungee cords. I kept looking back as we were driving home to see of the bike was jiggling and it was not moving, it was extremely secure, we even hit some hard bumps on the freeway too. Now I only used 1 bike on the rack, putting it closest to the trunk, so I do not know what it would be like with 2 bikes, but I'm sure it would be just fine. I used a women's road bike on the rack too in case you are wondering. I used this rack on my 2007 Toyota Scion TC and it will also fit on our other car, which is a 2013 Passat Sedan. With the Passat, the guy at the bike shop said it will have to be hooked from underneath the car because we can not get the lower straps to go into the crack of the trunk sides, so we have yet to try this, but the guy at the bike shop said it would work just fine, just make sure you don't clip it onto plastic underneath (common sense). I'm very pleased with this because it's very inexpensive. So again, I had zero issues, very study, easy to put on, easy to get the bike on and I did not need any bungee cords, but with 2 bikes you may need the bungee cords...I don't know.
Solid, Durable and Quality Construction for Everyday Use
October 25, 2015
Bought this rack for everyday hauling of my two bikes, and it has performed well on the last two of our bike trips. (Note, we use two (mountain) bikes, but it could easily fit three with a bit of creative positioning)THINGS WE LIKE:-Easy to assemble, install and store. It takes 30 seconds to install, 15 seconds to take off and sets right in our shed with the bikes.-Easy to adjust rack spaces for larger/smaller bikes. We find it really easy to move the holders when we put our bikes on in different orders.-A snug fit. After fastening the "interesting" rubber clasps, our bikes are tight and snug against the rack and-Solid Construction quality. They use really a really good quality steel steel frame, good rubberized trunk clips and heavy-duty rubber frame clasps. Everything feels like it will last a while when used properly.- Trunk accessibility. We can still open our trunk (Ford Fusion) with the frame installed, no problem. We haven't tried it with a hundred pounds of bikes attached...but it might work, too?!ISSUES + NOTES:-The frame has scratched our bikes. However, this is what happens when metal-on-metal occurs as we're putting the bikes on/taking them off. While this is really unfortunate, it's definitely a user error and could be avoided with more careful installation. The frame is painted steel; however, when it does rub the bike frames it pulls the paint off.- We're using this on a 2008 Ford Fusion (non-sport). It fits wonderfully and the bikes never move after fastening the fabric straps properly.- The rubber clasps are definitely interesting. Look at the photos in the product description if you don't know what I'm talking about. They work really well, but sometimes you have to pull them with a LOT of force to get them to go in their hole. After that though, they're very snug and work great!
Great fit. Female bikes. Sturdy. Incredible Packaging. Speedy Prime shipping
March 25, 2014
I gave this five stars. Now nothing is perfect, but as I relate below, I am very impressed.Fits our 2000 Toyota Sienna CE van and 1992 Mercedes 300E sedan very well. This rack lets you lock in whatever angle you need for your car - without tools. If u need to readjust, its easy and still, no tools needed. My wife's new bike has a large bottom rail and it is slightly oval so it does not fit perfectly into the bracket, but this is not a big problem. It rides fine. Also, I saw an Amazon review that said a female bike would not fit this rack w/o some special bar for the female bike. I had no trouble with my wife's bike. It fit (very snugly) with the bottom bike rail in both brackets. This caused the rear wheel to ride high, but then it did not block view of the brake light on that side which seems to be a potential problem with most rear hung racks. It also fit with bottom rail in bracket at front wheel and top rail in the bracket nearest the bike seat. This thing is sturdy! It wobbles just a bit but is the least wobbly of the three racks I have owned over the years. Once tightened, it is not going anywhere. Also it has an extra strap at the top. I guess u can tie to your roof rack for extra security. All racks of this type depend totally on the top straps, so check their condition frequently. My first rack, many years ago, rested most of its weight on the car's rear bumper. But most cars today don't have protruding rear bumpers to take the weight, so all the downward force pulls on the top straps.Cleanest packaging job I have ever seen! The rack folds completely flat. It fits box so well that there is no styrofoam, no cardboard. All seven straps are neatly rolled up and held with rubber bands. The six rubber bracket holders are attached to frame. Pull this thing out of the box and nothing -no packing trash -no indispensable part, goes flying or falls to the floor and rolls under the car.I ordered this on Saturday with Amazon Prime. It shipped Sunday and UPS delivered it on Monday morning! I don't remember getting two-day delivery over a weekend before. We love Prime.

Does the job great, not easy to compact
July 30, 2017
This bike rack is extremely easy to setup and has worked perfectly. I have not had the chance to test two bikes yet on this rack so I can only speak for loading up one. So far so good. I purchased this one specifically since it folds up to a more compact size. Unfortunately its not that easy to adjust. I have to use a lot of muscle when holding the pins down to fold. Due to this I often leave it in its fully expanded state and will most likely only compact it when biking season is over and I store the bike rack.
Easy to use
March 26, 2017
I have carried one bike on it so far but was disappointed that I could not leave it on and open my back door. The clips at the top will not allow it. Other than that, it is easy to put on and take off and fold up.
A great rack if you have simple, light weight bikes.
August 1, 2016
This rack fits on the back of my Suzuki SX4 hatchback. My bike, an older 3 speed road bike, fits great and is easy to take on and off. the rack stays firm and secure when I travel with my bike alone.

My daughter's bike is a little more challenging - we call it the cast iron cruiser - it is heavy and the top cross bar dips way down to only a couple inches from the chain. I found a way to get it on the rack, but, it is really awkward and the rack struggles to stay secure with the weight and can start shifting when diving around corners. Perhaps it is simply the world telling me to get my daughter a new, lighter, bike.
ultra convenient!
June 7, 2016
so simple! so cheap as well. i got this because i was sick of dealing with my roof rack, i'm too short to reach up and get my bike on easily. this was very easy to fit to my car, and so far has held my bike securely (so far taken my bike as far as about 35 miles on it, and not had any sense that this was going to come off).

installs on my vw rabbit in about 2 minutes (after i got the initial strap sizes set for my car), and i get the bike secured in another 1 minute. seriously convenient! plus it folds up into about the size of a shoe box, amazing!!!

obviously there are cons compared to standard racks, you cannot lock your bike to this or your vehicle. it scratched the inside of my hatch (i have a 2008 vw rabbit), i thought to protect the visible paint (added felt pads to the strap ends, and even put clear paint protector decals on the paint surfaces), but it actually ended up scratching the inside of the seam that it hangs from :(

i do also worry a bit about where it rests on my hatchback's rear glass. if you had a heavy bike you might be at risk there, but so far it's been safe for me.

also note, bring some string or something to secure your front wheel from spinning, on trip with handle bars tapping on my window was enough to keep a foot of paracord in the trunk for me.

overall the convenience has outweighted any of the cons, and as long as you don't need to lock up your bike to your vehicle i definitely recommend this option to people!
Recommend, but know it's shortcomings
June 14, 2015
This bike rack has good points and bad points. It is extremely easy to set up and go. Folds down to practically nothing. Very easy for my slight daughter to use on her own without Dad's help. That said, it isn't the sturdiest of racks. You definitely aren't buying a Thule. The tie downs for the bike aren't clips, you have to thread and unthread loops to secure and then take the bike off. I would guess it is great for short trips at normal around town speeds. We are hoping the bike makes it securely from NY to Maine at highway speeds. It also would have been helpful to see the chart that is on the back of the box before we purchased (I've attached a photo of it here). My daughters car is not on the fit list and we had to do some fussing to get it to attach to metal on her car instead of the plastic spoiler on the MINI Countryman. Not the rack's fault, any rack of this type would have been attaching to plastic...which we should have looked at and known...our bad. I would recommend this rack despite its shortcomings, especially at this price point.

Great versatility!
August 22, 2017
Haven't used yet, but fit is perfect on my husband's 2015 Chysler 200 and my 2008 Subaru Legacy. Seems like it will hold up for quite a while, metal pieces instead of plastic. Just what we needed, and the price was right.
This is an excellent product for bikers without bumper hitch racks
March 7, 2016
This is an excellent product for bikers without bumper hitch racks. Fully adjustable and easily mounted to most vehicle types makes this product a must have. Though I do have a couple of concerns, first make sure the rubber straps that hold the bike in place are correctly stretched, too lose and a sudden jarring movement will cause them to pop off and the bike may be released. Second, make sure all holding straps are fastened to the vehicle correctly or vehicle movement and bouncing may cause straps to come loose and start banging all over your nice paint job.
Good bike rack - Recommend if you need to swap between several cars
January 15, 2016
I wanted a rack I could use on more than one car and this one seemed reasonably priced and solid. I really like this bike rack. I'm able to swap it out on my Kia Sorento, Hyundai Sonata and Buick Century (how's that for a wide variety of cars?). Holds my trek verve 1 and my wife's verve 2 very securely and I've driven it for more than a hundred miles at a time, highway and by-way and no problems whatsoever. The ONLY downside for this rack is that it has a center strap that is usually more trouble than it's worth. Since the "instructions" were virtually non-existent it's up to you to figure out how the thing is supposed to be attached to your car. I have no idea where this center strap is supposed to go so I've typically been threading it through the trunk or hatch and connecting it that way, however it never seems to feel snug. I really don't think it does much of anything and am considering cutting it off completely. I would have given it 5 stars except for the lack of instructions and the mysterious center strap. But all in all, I recommend this rack.
Great bike rack
June 14, 2015
This has been such a great bike rack. my husband and I took 2 adult bikes from PA to Maine and back last year including up and down mount Washington with out any trouble what so ever. This year from PA to Iowa and back again no issues. We do use hitch mate Velcro straps to make sure everything is tired down and for the longer trips we take the wheels off the bikes, mostly to cut down on the wind resistance. We have taken several shorter trips between with the wheels on and it's never been much of a problem. We only use the rack on our sedan (even with the deck lid spoiler it fits perfect) as we've found our smaller car the trunk is too short to support the rack correctly. We have tried it on a hatch as well but found it hit the spoiler on the top too much so make sure it can fit your car. We just recently used it for 3 adult bikes for a 4 hour trip with both highway and back road windy gravel it seemed to flex the trunk lid a bit more but was very secure and didn't damage the lid at all. That being said it is possible to tighten too much and dent the trunk lid so lighten it up some it'll hold without denting the lid. The hitch mates have really helped ease any concern and really are a must have but I think that would be true for any trunk lid rack. The rack does not have any lock to the car so leaving it somewhere does run the risk of it getting taken so if we're stopped we lock the bikes to the rack and hope the hassle of taking it off deters any thieves but if the rack is empty we take it off and easily put it in the trunk. Just ordered one for my sister!
Excellent Product
July 7, 2014
I bought this for a recent camping trip with some friends- we were going to have 3 bikes on the rack: 1 vintage woman's bike, a quality woman's mountain bike and my woman's hybrid trek. We tried multiple ways to get on the three bikes including switching locations and positions, but we could not get all three on- the handlebars and wheels were not working together. In terms of getting the rack car ready I did struggle adjusting the bike rack perpendicular to the car. I eventually took out the screws connecting the pipes and then screwed the rack back together when I had it in the right position. Otherwise it was super easy. This rack seems super stable on the car as it comes with 6 straps. I had no problems with one heavy and one light bike going 70 mph on the highway- the rack and bikes did not move at all. Other than not fitting the 3 very different bikes this rack is solid and definitely worth it. Great Quality and Construction.
First impression
June 6, 2014
I just finished wrestling this rack onto my 2004 Dodge Caravan. First impressions:1. You really have to bring the two cushioned braces close together to get it on a van. At first this worried me but after i was finished with my bike in place, it was very tight and unmovable.2. It takes two people to get it fitted right the first time.3. The hooks were a little hard to get on at first but if you can't get them inserted at the exact spot you want them, find a place along the edge you want that's wide enough to slip it in and slide it into place.4. I placed the bottom brace at the top of my license plate and the top one on the window and that worked best. If you let it rest on the bumper, you wont be able to open your hatch.5. Turn your inside peddle of your innermost bike so it lines up with the license plate before using the last strap on the bottom to tighten the bikes toward the car so you don't scratch your paint.6. You end up with a long "ponytail" of strap ends. I used the excess in front to tie my bike tire so it wouldn't flop around and bump my handlebars into the glass. If anyone has a better idea how to deal with this, I'd appreciate any ideas.7. Don't forget to tighten the straps that hook into the bottom of the hatch one more time because the weight of the bikes will make it loose again. All in all, it gives a very good first impression. I will update as I use it some.

Functional but Not built for long-term outdoor exposure
August 12, 2017
First, the rack works just fine. It has held 2 bikes at once occasionally with no obvious strain. With that said, the materials of construction are clearly not UV-resistant. Living in CA, my bike rack stays on my car year round. The plastic parts started showing UV deterioration after about 12 months of outdoor use. After about 17 months, one of the upper support straps snapped while one bike was loaded and driving down the road, almost losing my road bike. The strap showed no signs of excessive wear, like fraying, before breaking. So this is not ideal.
It's $20 cheaper at Walmart. FYI.
May 28, 2017
The packaging says it won't work for a Dodge Grand Caravan but the reviews said it would. I decided to risk it and find out for myself. I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. It fit great. Held both adult bikes just fine. I'm annoyed that I saw it today at Walmart for $20 cheaper though, but whatev.
It's alright but could be better & more secure
April 12, 2017
It does the job but I don't quite trust it 100% We had this rack for a Scion XD hatchback and tried it on our new 2017 Honda CRV. I don't like that the weight relies on the straps to keep it up, gonna try the Hollywood rack that has the base resting on the back bumper, at least the weight rests on the bumper rather than being suspended with all the pressure on the window and the 1 foot on the bottom, could likely scratch the car too! Also, you need lots of straps to keep the bike from moving around and the pedals from turning all over.

This rack is great. I have a 2014 Ford Escape SEL and it works nicely on the car. My only complaint for this type of bike rack is the need for an adapter bar for womens bikes. The other thing that you have to do is ensure that your front wheel is secured to the frame to prevent it from hitting your vehichle. I originally got this to avoid getting my front wheel out of alignment when travelling to triathlons. Not the best rack for a heavier bike.
Does the job
May 19, 2013
Originally bought this to use on a Mini Cooper now using it with on mazda cx-5 (compact SUV) primarily with a 29er

The rack:
I use the rack to transport a 29er mountain bike which is a little awkward to use due to the frame design of the bike. I can't get the top bar of the frame to sit flush on the padded legs but regardless, I'm still able to securely strap it in.
The set up is pretty straight forward: open all the arms and legs until the click into place. Hook the top hooks to the top of the trunk frame & tighten, hook the bottom hook to the bottom of the truck and pull each tie down till tight.

The instructions say not to put all 3 points of contact on the window as it may break the window. I'm weary of putting the rubber pads on the actual car frame in fear that it would damage the paints so I position the top pads toward the window of the window and the bottom pad on the license plate.

The frame hooks are metal so in fear that it may damage the paint, I put some electrical tape inside the hooks for added protection.

I use bungy cords to secure the tires, handle bars, and pedals from moving and it also provides added security for the bike from shifting on the rack.

So far so good. I haven't experienced any real issues transporting bikes with this rack. I've transported 2 bikes on several occasions without any problems. I did notice wobbling on occasion when turning. Not sure if it was my setup or improperly secured the tie-downs.

On Mini Cooper::
It worked well on the mini even with 2 bikes although I never used it for long distances or on freeway.

On SUV:
I was a little concerned with the tie-downs going over the small rear spoiler; I was worried the weight would be to much on the spoiler but it seems to not be an issue.

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. Living in an apartment in the city with limited storage space, this compact rack is perfect. Folds up quick and easy and comes with a little stuff sack; put it away in a closet or leave it in the truck of your car without consuming too much space.

It took a really long time to get it adjusted properly to the car… The bikes have the bar that slants so it is difficult to put them on. Took a really really really long time to finally get both bikes on… May still purchase the crossbar for easier loading on the bikes… when I load the bikes now, I am crushing cables and handlebars and the pedal is digging into the spokes of the other bike. May look for a bike rack that allows for easier fit…

June 14, 2016
The first time I installed the rack it scratched the trunk of my car. There are two screws on the frame that face the car (that I didn't see) and when I was putting the lower pads on the bumper, as was featured in the picture in the instructions (apparently my car needed the pads positioned higher on the license plate), the screws were resting on my trunk unbeknownst to me. While adjusting the straps, the screws were digging into my trunk and scratching the paint. After I installed the rack and saw the angle of the arms was pointing downward instead of either parallel or angled upward, that's when i began re-installing the rack and saw the scratches. Unfortunately these aren't surface scratches that can be buffed out. The damage is real and would require a paint job and some money to repair.UPDATE 1: So I attempted to install the rack again on another day and got it right this time, however I noticed after doing all the adjustments that the left upper strap clip does not securely hold the strap in place. After adjusting it a couple of times, I noticed the strap still had a little slack and the clamp wasn't holding it in place as the other five straps were. I put my Schwinn women's MTB 26 on the rack and found that the arm straps don't fit on my bike frame at the front end so I can't have the bike level. Lastly, i tried to put my son's 16' BMX style bike on the rack and his frame was too short to go on both arms.I will have to try again angling one of the wheels downward on my bike and see if that will work and someone else wrote something about getting creative to get her child's bike on rack and see if that's an option. If neither of these work, back it goes.UPDATE 2: So I tried for a third time tonight and the rack does not work for my bike because the bottom bar is too tall for the strap to fit over and get secured to the frame. Also, the reason the top left strap doesn't stay tight is because the clip was installed on the rack on the wrong side. Unfortunately this is going back and I'm back to the drawing board.
I didn't seem to find the list of cars it fit.
May 13, 2014
I like the bike rack, great price, its sturdy, etc. The only problem as of right now is that it doesn't fit my car.. I drive a 2010 Legacy, it is not on the list, but I looked for a list prior to buying this and didn't seem to find it, that is the reason for the low review. It is a good product if you can get it to fit your car. Oh and its making due for now.
Not good for small frame bikes - Pedals scratch paint on truck
May 12, 2014
This bike rack is great for my boyfriend's bike - both holsters wrap securely around the top tube of his frame . However, for my smaller framed bike, its a pain. I can fit one side of the top tube into one of the holsters, but the other holster is too far away to fit into my top tube. This causes me to have to rotate the bike a little so that one holster fits around my seatstay bar right past the seatpost. Since the brake cable runs right along that bar, i have be very careful when using the secure-wraps, and I've knocked my brakes out of place on more than one occasion.Another problem I've run into is that the pedals of the bike closest to the trunk (for a 2010 Nissan Sentra at least), will always rest against the trunk and scratch up the paint. I think this is probably an issue for almost all trunk racks, so I won't fault Hollywood too much for that but if you are considering buying this rack, invest in a couple of heavy wool socks to put on the pedal of the bike and you won't have any problem with paint scratching.

Not a very stable fit for a Nissan Murano
July 28, 2017
Tried it on our Nissan Murano but it was wobble and just didn't give us the confidence to put our bikes on it. Sent it back. A pitty because we were really looming forward to the possibility of long bike rides.
Once its unfolded, leave it!
October 18, 2016
At first, I really liked this bike rack. It was inexpensive and appeared to be well made. Opening it up and attaching it to my car was easy enough. Even folding it back up for easy storage went pretty smoothly. Unfortunately, a problem arose when I decided to open it back up to use it a 2nd time. It's able to be folded up because of button locks placed at it's joints. When folding it back up the first time, it was very difficult to get the button locks depressed. When I tried to open it back up, the button locks had fallen down inside of the arm of the product. They were just staying in place by pretty much sheer luck. Everything is welded, so there is no way to get inside of the arm tube to fish them out. I now have to use Dad logic and have a dowrod placed through the holes where the button locks used to be. It doesn't feel very safe or secure.
Locking pins get stuck
October 6, 2016
I liked this product at first, but after a couple months the locking pins have gotten stuck inside the metal tubes so now I can't use the second bike attachment or close it for fear of the rest of them getting stuck where I can't reach them.

September 3, 2016
This rack design is a good idea. I have used it several times, but found that the sheet metal on my trunk lid ( Pacifica ) became dented in the two places I had it placed per instructions which come with the product. This was carrying one Specialized M4 Mountain Bike which weighs like a feather. I was furious when I first saw this but decided not make a Federal case out of it with Allen. My solution was to build a 1/2 inch x 3 inch board wrapped with a thin flexible rug remnant. Cut the 3 inch wide board past the width of the grey rubber triangle supports about 15" and extend it 3 inches on each side. Placed between the grey rubber supports and the car sheet metal will distribute the weight so there should not be any damage. BEWARE.... if you use this on a new car.
Broken after three uses
April 11, 2013
Purchased this bike rack in August 2012. Was very happy with it for the few times I got to use it before the weather changed. Took it out this year and went to lock the arms into extended position and the little buttons had shifted within the tubes and away from the hole to secure the arms. Of course, that makes the whole thing useless. Contacted Allen to see about a replacement product today. If they are able to replace it the product for me with an operational version free of charge, I will update my review. Otherwise, I guess I would be wary of purchasing this product.

Good Carrier except for Locking Straps to Car
September 18, 2016
Easy to assemble to put on car. This rack can not fit 3 bikes on it. Can carry 2 no problem. The one big problem I have with it, which gives it 2 stars is the straps that attach to the car do not lock in place and become very loose on short journeys. It has 6 locking straps, in which 4 work great, but 2 will not stay locked in place and become loose. I am afraid the carrier will fall off the car. Outside of the straps, the carrier does the job. May return at this point if I can't get these two straps to lock.
Straps fall off
August 31, 2016
I went against all of the whiney reviews and purchased this product anyway. Well I now agree since I can not drive 10 miles with my Nissan Sentra or xterra without the straps coming off. So frequently in fact that I had to use my old bike rack to drive to NC for vacation. It received two stars because of the ease of the rubber straps to secure the bikes to the bike rack but that doesnt really help if your bikes are in four lanes of I95 traffic.
Buyer Beware
July 8, 2016
The rack was a lot smaller than I expected. I have not tried to load a second bike on it; A second will probably fit but it will be very cozy. More problematically, the first time I installed the rack on my Audi Allroad it left two significant scratches on the back hatch. I have yet to go back and reinstall the rack to try to figure out how that happened. Might've been user error but be careful in any event. I probably won't bother to return this because it should work fine for one inexpensive bike ( assuming I overcome the scratching problem ) but I would not buy it again. I don't think I'd buy another bike rack without inspecting it at the store first.
Cannot fit 3

The product is not bad but good luck trying to fit 3 bikes on this rack.
Check your frame and tube sizes first
September 28, 2015
Had to return it. I tried it on 3 different 48cm frames. Two were an extremely tight fit, and one didn't fit at all; the rack's cradles (the little round slots made for the top tubes to rest inside and strap into) didn't fit my road bike that has wider tubes (a CAAD10, 2015 model). Also, it may have been my fault somehow, but the rack chipped the paint on my trunk. I did do my best to follow the manual's installation instructions carefully, so that was a bummer.
Save your money...
May 27, 2013
First thing first... This rack will damage your car. Period. Secondly, it barely fits 3 bikes. Lastly, when I purchased this the product description mentioned nothing about it not fitting cars with spoilers. Which was a nice surprise when I got it, so right away I passed it along to my girlfriend who's car it does fit. As far as the rack is concerned, the slack on the straps is ridiculous. They are far too long and the brackets that hold the clamps look very cheap. With three bikes on we had to stop and re-hook the bottom trunk straps as they're a real pain to secure. The foam padding on the bottom did nothing to save the paint on the trunk/bumper area where the rack met the car. And there was a nice scratch in the paint where they made contact. If you're toting one bike around I say go for it. 3 bikes as advertised and it's gonna be a tense ride home.Shipping via Amazon took far longer than I care for also. I've made numerous purchases via Amazon and this was the worst overall wait for shipping hands down. Just a fail all the way around on this experience for me I guess.

Very disappointing
May 11, 2017
I am very disappointed with this bike rack. Upon opening the package, my first thoughts were that it looked like it had already been opened and returned, judging by all of the extra clear tape that was on the box. I was really excited to set it up on my car and take my bike out that day, but it is unfortunately broken! One of the arms that extends and snaps into place doesn't work. The pop-up pins that were pressed in, never came back out, in two different places. It's virtually useless, and I never was able to use it once. I will definitely be returning this, and do not plan on purchasing another Allen bike product again.
Did not secure properly on a hatchback!
January 22, 2017
I tried to put this on a Mazda 3 hatchback. No matter where I put the straps (tightened to the max), there was a huge wobble with a bike actually on there. So much so that the straps would unhook when simulating some vibration in the bike.

I gave up and tied down the rack to the door with a rope of my own. I will not be using this rack again. I believe the design is fundamentally deficient

the single support underneath doesn't help keep the bikes steady at all. I returned it. I suggest getting one with double support so that the bikes don't swing from side to side overtime you make a turn.
wish i could return or exchange....
May 31, 2015
Would be wonderful if constructed better. From the first time I used this, the folding arms were a struggle to open and lock into place, and a struggle to release and retract. I had to use a key to punch in the pins to get the arms to retract.... which usually involved my finger getting pinched. Now, after no more than 10 uses the locking pins have gone missing inside the arms....I still can't retract some, and the others will never lock into place again.... its completely busted. Very frustrated after the money I spent. The idea is great since I live in the city with limited space, but poorly executed. It seems I'm outside the timeframe to return it, but I'm hoping I can possibly get a response about what to do with this cumbersome paper weight I have now. I would love my money back.... or at least a replacement would be a nice gesture.
Didn't work for me...
May 25, 2014
I have a 2013 Ford Escape and it ended up scratching my SUV... I thought it was too good to be true before ordering but took a chance with it (you can't believe all the reviews you read, right?) Well on my car it didn't work... It was hard to get it tight enough to stay positioned without moving around. Since there is not a really good rubber or pad on the feet that go against the car it wiggles. Also, there is NO WAY you could fit 2 Medium frame bikes on there.. When trying to put my bike on the closest place holders to the car the pedals scratched my car too!!! I had to return it..

Disappointed

This product does not fit a Ford Taurus (2002). The rack is very heavy and would have scratched the heck out of my car due to the incorrect proportions. Returning.

The straps that anchor the rack to my car did not hold; had to tie knots to keep it from slipping off the one time I tried to use this. The "teeth" slip and the rack slid down to rest on the rear wipers. Returning.
Does not fit many cars, check before buying
June 24, 2017
When buying this Rack I assumed (judging by the description) that it can fit any car, including my Toyota Prius. Unfortunately, it did not; I discovered only in the manual that I would need a different model for my car. Now I cannot find how to return or exchange this rack. They should have made it clear in the description that this model does not fit many cars

August 21, 2016
I have used other brands before with no problems. This one I used just once and the metal hooks scratched the car; also the shape holds the closest bike to the car so closely that the bike pedals will scratch the car. Shop estimates the scratches will cost about a grand to fix! Wish I could have returned it. Dissappointing. Buyer beware.
Pretty Useless Cheap Product
June 30, 2015
This item is cheap. after one use, one of the knobs required to secure the bike into position broke off. It was a plastic piece the cant be replaced! Worst part is, It was not even the slot in which I had the bike. No idea how that got broken so easily. Second thing I hated about this was that it was falsely advertised. I expected this to be able to transport three bikes out of the box. For every bike slot you need 2 rubber strips to secure the bike. It only came with two! How am i supposed to secure more than one bike for my three slot bike rack? How useless!
Garbage

Buyer beware Garbage! The plastic pieces that hold the straps that hold the bike broke. Dont buy this garbage.
