They finally served their time. I bought a new pair and fell in love all over again.I lead Creek walks in an outdoor education program and my feet remain dry. They have great support while belaying in high rope course and great for hiking. Great bootsJanuary 30, 2017 I generally wear a US size 7 woman's, and I got this size with wool socks in mind. They fit perfectly! With regular socks too. I've worn them for more than a month now: through snow, icy slopes and staircases, caving, day hikes, and navigating wet aquatics facility floors. No complaints at all. They're not awesomely slip-proof, but at least it saved me from falling on the ice and down icy stairs (which definitely would've happened otherwise). On the other hand, it is also quite waterproof. I've never once gotten my feet wet trekking through snow or watery cave floors--in fact, I made the mistake of wearing these while trekking through knee-high water (they definitely kept the water in that time, oops). I've also had a chance to hand wash and disinfect these boots, since I went caving, and they're still perfect. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THESE BOOTSNovember 29, 2016 Let me start out with: THESE ARE AMAZING BOOTS and YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THESE BOOTS. These boots held up against all different types of climates and weather and water on my road trip and they still look great! We went to Arizona, Utah, Nevada; the Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, Zion, Salt Lake. We went through water, dessert, rain, and mud, and these boots held it fine. The only thing we didn't go through was snow, because apparently even though we Californians were freezing our butts off already, the locals said the weather was actually great, and that the colder weather and storms were actually late this year xD.Anyways, these boots were extremely lightweight and required almost no breaking in. My friend had some HiTech hiking boots and she said these Columbia boots were a lot lighter than hers. They were so extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. The size fits as expected if you go a half size up, and walking through the river, it kept my feet nice and dry. I think it would definitely keep you dry, but remember only as far as the shoe goes will it keep you dry lol. They've also got amazing grip. Whether we were on wet stones, or gravelly and sand covered rocks that could easily give way and make you slip or fall they worked amazingly. Comfortable from the moment I put them onFebruary 28, 2015 I started wearing these boots as soon as they arrived in the mail because I thought I would have to break them in before an upcoming hiking trip. I was wrong. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I've worn them on packed snow and they offer great traction. They are most comfortable with socks that are crew cut (come up to about mid-shin), but they worked decently with ankle socks too (I just wouldn't hike in them wearing ankle socks). I've worn them for 10 hours straight with no change in comfort level and I just got them a couple days ago. These are the best boots I've ever owned. Love 'em!November 19, 2014 These boots are wonderful. They did hurt the first time I wore them but after breaking them in I have had no issues. They are waterproof and hold terrain very well. They also match pretty much any outfit. I have used them on boulders and large rocks that are up to roughly 60 degree angles and terrain steeper than that and they have not let me down yet. I have enjoyed using them on numerous hikes and they have so far kept me safe and dry. Fingers crossed this continues.I am in Southern California and consider these my 'winter' hiking boots. However, they're a bit heavy/clunky, which makes breaking them in more painful in my opinion (got some rough blisters on the first 3+ mile hike I did in them) and makes rougher terrain a little tough. They're impressively waterproof (though note I also sprayed them with a waterproofer). Comfortable and durableSeptember 2, 2017 I bought these for a week of hiking and they held up great. They were comfortable and supported my ankles well. I had no problem breaking them in and they did not cause any chafing, especially with thick socks. I was worried about the dark brown being too dark but it looks lighter outside (and when covered in dirt!) I did notice some creases around the toe area due to extra space as others mentioned as well, but this did not cause any functional problems. They are a tiny bit more narrow than i prefer but for half the price of keens i am very happy. Plus they are indeed water proof (had no issues walking in small puddles/wet grass. My feet stayed dry)! They will be traveling with me this summer to Colorado and India and i will update after those trips to see if they are still comfortable and how they hold up to 2 months of straight use. Not my favorite item from ColumbiaOctober 27, 2015 Not my favorite item from Columbia. The laces are a bit short making the fit awkward. We'll see if they are waterproof. I expected more mesh and a lighter boot. On the first hike I got abrasions on the top of my toes. Still healing a week later! The Columbia tread is the reason for the purchase and brand loyalty. I hike at least 30 miles a week and Columbia boots typically last 9 months to a year. Awesome! Great for a yearMarch 25, 2015 I have had these just over a year and have finally worn them out. I hike with my dog all year and these have been great. Just wish they would have lasted a little longer. Did not have any problems with the waterproofing until the seam split between the upper and the sole. Walked through mud and water and almost every other terrain and they were fine. Lightweight enough for warmer weather and tough enough for winter. But again, only one season each. Nice shoesMarch 5, 2014 I am a size 8 regular and size 8.5 running shoe. I was hesitant to buy shoes online so I went to a sporting goods store to try these on. They only had size 8 and they were on the snug side, so I thought I would be fine ordering a 8.5 (which is almost twenty bucks cheaper). They arrived today and I walked about, they are a taaad bit big so I can feel that "toe crease" others had complained about, but if I wear thick socks, I think I should be fine? I will continue to break them in and hopefully take them on some longer hikes in a few weeks, I'll update this review when I get a chance. Whatever the case, you save almost thirty dollars buying these on amazon versus in stores! Great deal.Update 11/11/14: so I went on some short hikes with these but chose to take my lighter, more comfortable running shoes on longer hikes. I do wish I ordered my normal size instead of sizing up. The toe crease is annoying. I did give these a try on a snowy hike in the Rockies and my feet stayed dry. | Too roomySeptember 16, 2017 My size runs between 8.5 and 9 in Womens. Bought size 9s and they're too roomy even with hiking socks. Good quality boot, just wish I would've bought 8.5s. Not bad but an issue for me...August 9, 2017 These are comfortable if I were to just stand there. However, I tried walking around and every time I'm on the ball of foot in the back, the hard material on the outside of the boot bends inwards and ends up pushing down onto my toes. It wasn't too painful, but I could imagine it creating a rash or blister after miles of hiking. I usually wear size 7 and ordered a 7.5. Unfortunately I'm going to return, as I want something a bit softer and less stiff. Crease is intenseMay 8, 2017 Every step I took, the leather bent and hit my bug toe. I took 5 steps and had to take them off. Extremely uncomfrotable. Had they not done this, then I would have kept them. I liked everything about them but could not stand to get my big toe beat up every step I took Shoelace length issue....January 27, 2017 I love the boots so far, I just got them today. However, the boots came with two different sized shoe laces! a 5 inch difference! This causes the one boot to be too tight! I'm trying to figure out how to get those replaced....*UPDATE* Amazon promptly overnighted a new pair of boots. I try them on, remove the laces just to make sure they're good, and lo and behold, the same problem! Quality control at Columbia must be off a bit....I just switched out one of the shorter laces with the longer one on the new pair to fix my problem...but beware of this! So, My next step is to contact the company directly..It is very difficult for me to find a shoe that I am happy with. Mainly b/c not all shoes are made the same. I normally wear a size 8... Heck I would even buy a size 6 in Men's.. but it is not offered. However, when I tried on this brand in the size 8. .. my foot was overhanging the sole of the shoes, and it felt like my poor toes were in a vice.Now if I wore the shoes barefooted.. it was a Perfect fit. | Unfortunate squashing!August 30, 2017 I really wanted to love these for hiking! Seemed like a great value for a multipurpose hiking boot. I'm normally a size 9 and ordered size 9; they fit length and width, but I experienced the mid-toe area pinching other reviewers noted. I ordered a size up... 9 1/2 and the issue actually became worse. Creases and digs into top of foot.August 12, 2017 Nice boot, but it runs narrow. Also, every time you take a step the front creases and digs into the top of your foot. I tried two different sizes (my normal size 8 and then 8.5) and the crease happened both times. Not worth the price. I wear 8. 5 ...June 6, 2017 Not worth the price. I wear 8.5, but these were too big for me. But the main problem with them is that they are hard on the back and made my legs/muscles/ tendons very sore Nice looking boots, but tongue rubs and causes blisters.February 7, 2017 My girlfriend and I do a lot of hiking. I purchased these boots for her for Christmas.These boots are waterproof, they are warm but ventilate well, they have a nice tread pattern which improves grip on all terrain. My only problem is that the tongue doesn't ever want to stay in place. It comes loose and rubs on my girlfriend's feet when she wears them causing blisters and worn spots. No matter what socks she wears, it happens. No matter how tight or loose she laces them, it happens. I thought they would just break in like some boots do, but no. They cause her pain every time she wears them. They are hiking boots meant to be walked long distances in and she cannot get more than a mile without ending up with blisters. Soooooo uncomfortable on the top of your footDecember 27, 2016 I had to return these, while I love the minimalist style the toe box was the least comfortable thing I've put my foot into in a long time. With each step the toe of the boot would crease into the top of my foot. I barely walked around my apartment once and was getting a hotspot already. Would not buy again.That said, I have high very high arches which may have caused some of the discomfort from the leather creasing. Didn't work for meSeptember 14, 2015 I had to return these because they were painfully narrow for me, I ordered my regular size 9.5. I did expect them to be stiff at first because they are full grain leather but after just a few hours of wearing them in the house my feet were hurting so bad I no desire to try & break them in outside. My pinkie toes actually felt like they were being pushed under my other toes.
