Probably not for gaming, great otherwise.
May 4, 2017
This is a great monitor as long as you read the specs. I bought it for use in image editing and writing code. As such the frame rate is fine for me. The stand is awesome as the monitor can be moved up/down, tilted forward/back and swiveled left/right. The USB hub and audio pass through are nice additions but connect from the back. For permanent connections this is great. I don't notice any light bleed.
Great monitor, slightly different than Apple's
February 28, 2016
I wanted to get a monitor that would bring the retina quality screen of my MacBook Pro, to my office desktop. I had an Apple Thunderbolt Display, which looked fuzzy, especially with text, compared to my laptop. So, I decided to get this 27" 4K from Dell, and I am really happy. I think the other reviews do it justice, but there were two things I found I think are worth knowing/noting, which were surprises to me:

1. The monitor does come with an input to hook up external speakers. If you plan to do this, know that your mac will not let you control the volume of the sound with the F11 and F12 keyboard buttons, as it recognizes the screen as similar to a TV. In order to get around this, you have two options. You can download a program named Soundflower that will redirect your computer's output through a software switch, which brings back this functionality, however, Soundflower is not perfect. Sometimes audio will skip or glitch a bit. The other option is to control your volume through the volume sliders on screen.

2. The 4 USB ports are great, however, in order to have these things connected to your computer properly, you must plug in the USB cord that comes with the monitor into your Mac, in addition to the display port connection. Having an Thunderbolt Display before, this was not necessary, so this was a surprise to me. This is not a big deal, but it does mean that you'll be plugging and unplugging two cords to your laptop as you come and go, in addition to a power cord.

Overall, this monitor is fantastic. The stand looks great, and is really sturdy. The screen is retina at around 23" viewing distance, but I can't see any fuzziness at all, even up close. It is like having a retina screen from your macbook, but with a lot more real estate. And at this price, it is definitely worth it if you are thinking of getting one. I am a software developer, and reading code on this monitor is great.

The other thing that surprised me in a good way: I miss on the older MacBooks, how they had a light that would sleep and breathe at night (fading in and out). This monitor, when sleeping, the power button's light breathes at night. Kind of a nice touch.
This thing is without a doubt one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life, with zero regrets.

This thing is without a doubt one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life, with zero regrets.

What I was looking for:
- 4k monitor to complement my aging 24 Inch samsung 1920x1200 TN LCD display
- Mac Retina scaling support
- 60Hz refresh rate for gaming
- IPS color accuracy/vibrancy and wide angle viewing
- decent price
- Good build quality

It delivered on every front with only a few minor annoyances:
- It's absolutely beautiful. Basically like having my retina macbook pro 15, except as a 24 inch screen. I drool every time I open a chrome browser or even my terminal app. I've always dreaded going back from my retina macbook to my desktop, but now I can enjoy the same resolution, except on a giant screen.
- Works perfectly with OS X(Tested on Yosemite). Upon boot up, runs in scaled mode, so windows and objects appear at the size of 1920x1080 resolution, except everything is beautifully rendered at retina resolution. I purposely chose this P2415Q model rather than the 27 inch model because I wanted the pixel perfect match with my 24 inch 1920x1200 monitor. If I had gotten the 27 inch model, it would have had to run at 2550x1400 resolution to match the scaling of my current 24 inch monitor, and I really like having the perfect scaling of 3840x2160 -> 1920x1080, so exactly 4 pixels match to each 1 pixel of the smaller resolution, resulting in zero loss of sharpness
- Verified 60Hz using the included display port cable plugged into my GTX 770 (running a hackintosh)
- Runs DotA 2 beautifully at 4k resolution with 60+FPS with my GTX 770
- Really solid build quality. The bezel is plastic, but definitely an improvement over older dell models. The stand is a mix of apple-like aluminum and aluminum painted plastic. It's not apple quality, but it looks quite like it. Considering you don't touch and handle the stand all day, I think it looks quite good.
- $443 for a 4k IPS display is an absolute steal, prices have dropped drastically over the past few months
- Only nitpick is that there's an anti-gloss coating applied to the screen, which gives off a weird sheen when viewed off center. This sheen can make colors look a little greyish when the screen is viewed from above or the sides, and a picture professional would probably find this unacceptable. I barely notice it though. I would have preferred the semi-gloss coating that Apple uses, which doesn't grey out the colors.

Would highly recommend.
The Best 4K Monitor in this Price Range -- Plug and Play with 2015 Macbook Series Computers -- Retina Quality Display
April 30, 2015
Image Quality: 10/10
Ease of Set Up: 10/10
Value for Money: 10/10

I recently purchased a 2015 Macbook Pro 13 w/ Retina Display and was so overwhelmed by the color and text quality that I decided I needed to upgrade my desktop monitor as well. I wanted something that was plug-and-play using a display-port cable, and ultimately I chose this monitor for these reasons:

1 - the 24" has the highest pixel density for the resolution -- if you go up to 27 or 28" you will get excellent resolution but not as crisp text
2 - the color testing by Dell provides 99% accuracy -- my side by side photos enclosed show the color accuracy
3 - I wanted expansion capabilities in the back of the monitor -- the 4 x USB SuperSpeed (3.0) ports come in handy on my desktop
4 - the base is extremely stable -- no wobble
5 - the monitor does not crash/fail to wake up when the laptop goes to sleep -- *Note* -- I find that if it is slow to wake up after being asleep for a long time simply pressing the menu button above the power button on the face of the display wakes up the monitor immediately
6 - the colors are the SAME as my Macbook side by side, and the text is the same degree of sharpness side by side as well
7 - I am able to use the Dell supplied display-port cable out of the box and plug it into my Thunderbolt port and it auto detects every time. *Note* -- do not use a Thunderbolt cable to your Mac -- it will not detect the monitor. Use the cable supplied by Dell.
8 - The display-port cable provides audio output support, so you can plug your desktop speakers into the Dell Monitor rather than your Macbook and it works perfectly fine. *Note* -- the display-port audio out port disables the audio control on your MAC so you need to use speakers with volume control built in or plug your audio system into your Mac to retain the volume control functionality.
9 - Antiglare is easier on the eyes -- this monitor does not come with the glossy image you see in the Macbook Retina Display which I thought would bother me, but side by side, it is actually EASIER to work in Photoshop without the glossy image than with it.

I don't know how else to describe it except to say once you buy this monitor you will throw your Apple Cinema Display in the garbage. Plug and play out of the box with my Macbook Pro 13, no support issues, no video card issues,
Great Monitor For a Photographer/Casual Gamer!
March 19, 2015
I am running this on my older i7-970/X58 platform computer with newer GTX 970 video card. I run this along side my ASUS PB278Q with NO issues. 60Hz was plug and play with no tinkering (Display port). No dead pixels, no back light bleeding or weird color shifts on the panel. I have also calibrated this with my Spyder 4 Elite. Both my ASUS PB278Q and new Dell P2715Q match PERFECTLY now :) Couldn't be happier!

About 2 years ago when I got my first 27 inch 1440p monitor, I went for the Dell U2713HM. I had to RMA THREE Dell U2713HM before going with the ASUS PB278Q. Happy with my ASUS PB278Q! I was a little scared about getting another Dell, but this P2715Q was a winner the first time around!

I run both monitors at 125% text scaling on Windows 8.1.

UPDATE: as of 6/24/15, I am still having a very good experience with this monitor!

Great quality picture.
Great for the price
September 29, 2015
So far I really like it. If using a MacBook Pro, be sure to use Thunderbolt to connect. I had to buy the correct cable as its not provided.Once connected to thunderbolt instead on HDMI, its really quiet sharp. I had to do some adjustments to enlarge the images as they were tiny at first, but after that, All Good!. Haven't used the speakers yet.Over all I'm happy with it. Some glare with the glass on front but barely notice it as I'm in a bright office. I like the brushed aluminum over the all black screens so it looks fairly reasonable to. Overall I'm a basic user, emails, marketing etc and works well for my needs. Hope it continues to.For the price, size, and a 4K screen, I certainly cant complain, especially if you're comparing to Apple Monitors! The box it came in has seen better days! but monitor itself was fine.
Awesome picture, no issues
August 28, 2015
I was initially skeptical of buying it , considering the price and name which I have never heard of. After using it for a few days, it's worth it!Comes with all the cables you would need including the displayport cable which is required for 4K@60hz. Otherwise if you use HDMI or DVI you will only get at most 4k@30hz which is really laggy.Awesome picture, no issues. I would certainly purchase another one.

I got this at $350 and it is an amazing value. My computer defaulted it to 30Hz so make sure to change the settings to 60Hz. I am running 4k through a mini-display port on a Radeon HD7870 and games look great.
Perfect monitor for pwning noobs at 4k
July 15, 2015
Works as advertised. Bought this for gaming at 4k using a single GTX 980ti. You must use the displayport cable in order to get 60hz at 4k. Check your video card to make sure it has a displayport output, or you are going to be stuck at 30hz with an HDMI cable.Once connected with displayport, I did not need to adjust any settings on the monitor or in my PC's control panel in order for the monitor to switch to 60hz.Pros-4k resolution on a TN panel. The colors are not as "deep" as would be found on an IPS panel, but the picture quality is superb nonetheless. The color and contrast make for a picture that is just a bit too cold out of the box. Five minutes of adjustment will solve this and give you the picture quality you are looking for.Heavy bezel, it does not shift or shake while moving your mouse. It also looks very solid and well made. All attachments provided out of the box. This is a huge value. You receive the power cord, HDMI cable, displayport cable, and a dual link DVI cable. Again, you need to use displayport in order to get 60hz.No dead pixels. A pleasant surprise.Cons-The box for the monitor looked like it had gone through hell. It was worn on the edges, the corners were crushed, the seams were hastily taped over. I thought for sure I was going to be pulling out a broken mess. Once inside the box, the styrofoam blocks on the corner of the monitor were equally beat up (and unevenly cut from the start). Thankfully, the monitor was just fine. I cannot take a star off for this, because the monitor itself is fine. But, boy was I worried. The connections are located on the bottom of the monitor, some of which are close behind the stand attachment point. It's a pain to get things connected.Neutral-No matte finish. The cover for the monitor is glass. I game in a dark room, so this is not an issue for me. If you are gaming in a lit room, however, you will see glares and reflections.Praise Lord Gaben. PC Master Race.
Great Entry Level 4k Monitor
June 19, 2015
This monitor is spectacular! It is one of the cheapest options on the market right now for a 4k display that is still at 60 hz!I have been using the monitor for about a week and I have made a pro/con list.Pros:-Beautiful screen filled with pixels!-Comes with everything you need out of the box: 1 power cable (4 ft) , 1 display port cable (6ft) ,1 hdmi cable(6ft), and 1 DVI (6ft), glass stand (3 screws) and the monitor-has a very professional look: the front has a brushed steel look to it that is very pleasing, also the screen is 100% glass! I'm not sure if this is a common thing with monitors now but I love it!-plenty of control to adjust the brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness ect.-has an headphone jack! although i don't think I will be using it, it is nice to have the option.-PRICE! this monitor goes on sale occasionally so you can snag it for less that the $400 price tag further making it an amazing buy.Cons:-minimal screen tilt ability (The monitor does not have much tilt maneuverability it have around 20 degrees of tilt)-hard to get a perfect screen: this one is really a non issue as amazon will help you get the right monitor! The first monitor I got had around 10 dead pixels and a small chip in the glass, amazon sent me a replacement within the week with all the problems resolved!-that is a small gap between the glass and the edge of the monitor, this makes the whole screen feel cheap, but is not noticeable when the screen is on.Neutral:Screen size is 28 inches, many people are not a fan of 4k monitors that are below 32in as it makes everything appear too small for them, I personally like the additional pixels per inch and so it is a pro for me to have a 4k monitor on the smaller side. This monitor is a great buy if you are looking for an entry level 4k monitor! This product performances excellently and only has a few hiccups that don't really detract for the product. (if you can avoid dead pixel-ed models) This computer compares to other 4k displays that are in the $500-600 range for only 400 dollars (or less if you buy on sale).

I'm very satisfied with the performance after about a year
January 11, 2017
I'll make it short and simple not to repeat what others have wrote. I'm very satisfied with the performance after about a year. The color representation is good. The bleeding is in line with most IPS panels and not bothersome. It's plenty bright. I use it for gaming (Overwatch, WoW, Dota2, SC2, CSS) and some photography work. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that now that I've upgraded my rig to one that can pump out 4k @60Hz over HDMI, I realized that the HDMI port on the monitor is 1.4, and not 2.0 (which had been out for a while when this monitor was released) which supports 4k @60Hz. Why would you include a port (the most popular port) on a 4k screen that can't handle the native resolution at standard refresh rate?
Great Monitor BAD Cables
April 20, 2016
OK, these are great monitors. The resolution is outstanding. I did not give it 5 stars for one key reason. DP to Mini DP cables that came with it appear to be problematic. I have a 2015 Macbook 13". I was having problems discounting the laptop from the monitors and reconnecting them. I would get a black screen on both (I have two) as well as on the macbook. Doing a little research, I came across others that were having this issue and purchased a different cable. I took a chance and ordered two:
Accell B143B-003J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable with Latch, White, 3.3-Feet

This solved my issue. No more problems. I still can't daisy change them but that appears to be an Apple issue. So NEXT TIME DELL ... if there is a next time, include better cables. Also, I am use to the high gloss apple products. These matte screens aren't as nice but don't suffer glare ... there it is.

Enjoy!
DISPLAYPORT ONLY OR GO ELSEWHERE
April 9, 2016
listen up folks, this is important. You are wasting your money if you buy this intending to use HDMI. It will work in 4k but only at 30hrz. over DP it works great and looks great.

one thing i learned that nobody ever told me is that a lot of new laptops are coming with the thunderbolt 3 port (aka USB-C) which is an awesome port that does jillion awesome things, but it is really awesome because it has a superfast connection to your processor. as a result, if youre using it to power a DP connection, it appears that the video rendering will be done on the processor's graphics set, and wont use your dedicated video card. so if youre like me, and you spent a lot of money on a 980M, youll be using your laptop screen for any gaming.

Somebody help me out, am i wrong? i cannot find any documentation on this anywhere.
Great for anything other than gaming.
October 22, 2015
This screen is beautiful and crisp. Compared to my other IPS screens (24" Dells), it's just as good, though the screen does seem to be a tiny bit yellow by comparison. There are tons of options, and Dell even calibrates the color right out of the factory (be sure to select the Standard preset). I would definitely recommend this monitor if you're using it primarily for internet browsing, professional video/photo editing, everyday use, and some very light gaming.

Gaming is where this monitor falls short though. Even with 6ms GTG, there is a very noticable amount of motion blur in games. It wouldn't be so bad if the screen was smaller, but the screen size makes it all so obvious and in your face. If you're in the market for a gaming 4K IPS screen and can live with motion blur, give this screen a try. If you're like me and need a smooth and crisp gaming experience, get something else.
Good value if you are looking for a no-frills 27" display with good image quality.
October 5, 2015
I bought this monitor for my home workstation which I share on occasion with my wife. We both have a 13" 2015 mac book pro and I wanted a large quality high res display that we both could use when needed to work on projects (mostly obscenely large spreadsheets or design work) that require a larger screen at eye level. My goal was to have a work station that we could both use seamlessly (the least cables going to our laptops the better). As a note, I live in a small apartment and hate clutter. Since the work station sits in my living room, design was as much a factor for me as ease of use, construction and image quality.

Overall: Good value if you are looking for a no-frills 27" display with good image quality and nothing else. For superior image quality and features look for higher-priced options.

I own both PCs and Macs. So I'm not necessarily an apple fanatic. However, if you are buying this display to use with a mac book pro as I did, you may want to stick to the Thunderbolt (unless you work on any particular task that requires a 4k resolution). IMO the seamless integration of the Thunderbolt (combining power, video, audio and peripherals with a single cable) and built in speakers make up for the Thunderbolt's lower resolution (which works just fine for most tasks). I ended up having to also buy a Dell 4k docking station ($160) and external speakers ($90), which takes away from the value, which is the main benefit of this display.

Pros:
-Nice 4k resolution.
-Accurately color calibrated.
-Easy set up with included Display Port or HDMI cable. Plug and Play with my MBP. Both options rendered crisp 4k image quality.
-I enjoy the ability to rotate adjust the height, tilt and rotation of the monitor.
-Solid construction.

On the fence:
-USB and audio port in the back are nice to have for easily connecting peripherals. However, using these USB ports requires you to to connect an additional cable to your laptop in addition to the DP cable (which I'm trying to minimize). Also, I noticed an annoying lag on my wireless mouse (which connects via a small USB thingy) when connected to the monitor ports. So I ended up plugging the mouse back directly to the laptop USB ports.
-The design isn't bad, but it isn't good either. For the frame and base they used a "brushed aluminum" plastic veneer that looks good from afar but looks and feels plasticky once you are closer to the desk. I wish they would have gone with the real thing. Also, the back of the display is just a big black light-sucking plastic rectangle. So it will not look nice if you are going to have the back of the display "displayed" (as opposed to placed against a wall).

Cons
-The display doesn't stay leveled on a horizontal position. Instead it tends to tilt slightly to the side as if it was a loose and heavier on right side. This may not be a big deal for some people, but it drives me crazy looking at slightly tilted screen (and therefore slightly tilted spreadsheets and web browsers) for hours. It may be only a few degrees, but the large size of the display accentuates this problem. I couldn't find a way to tighten the rotating parts so I solved it by placing a piece of folded paper underneath the right side of the base. This is too bad as the base/pedestal was very sturdy and stable. It is not so stable after I placed the paper (but at least it is now leveled)
-Black levels could be darker (I know it is an issue with the technology rather than the specific monitor, but still...)
-No speakers. I really don't need loud, premium speakers. But a small set of speakers for me to listen to computer sounds or the occasional Youtube video would have been nice. I have to keep an external set of speakers cluttering my desktop.

Best screen for the price!
March 3, 2016
The short version: CHEAP! Great quality for the price. Works like a charm and it's absolutely beautiful! The screen would be perfect if it had a higher refresh rate, a less glossy screen finish, some units come with a dead pixel or two, dust can get behind the glass panel...ouch.Also, don't kid yourself. This is a 28" monitor...it's freaking massive! (I use it as a TV, too, and I sit five feet away from it)Good:I was slightly skeptical buying this monitor! I work in the tech industry and I was looking for a screen that would allow extreme multitasking. Even if I didn't have two extra old monitors, this screen would give ample workspace for any video editor/producer. I am blown away by the image quality, too! Colors look fantastic and are fairly accurate when compared to higher-end monitors. For gaming, like most people, I've found 4k gaming to be tricky for most semi-modern games.I have a 970GTX 4gb in my computer....and I've been able to play Assassin's Creed Syndicate at 1440p on this screen (looks almost just as good as 4K), Crysis at 4K (highest settings and everything!), and Counter Strike Go in 4k. Scaling older games to 4K is a blast and a great way to revisit some older games :) I'm excited for the future of 4K gaming....give it three more years, and I'd bet it'll be easier on the GPU :)Bad:The only drawbacks to this screen are the following:- 60 hz refresh rate isn't great....but it's passable (note...this is only via the Displayport connection! My monitor came with the cable :) )- The screen does reflect quite a bit....dark colors become mirrors :/ I have massive windows behind and to the right of my screen....the glare is present...but not unbearable....Recommend placing this screen strategically.- I have either a dead pixel....or a piece of dust behind the glass on my screen....not sure which and not sure how to tell without tearing the screen apart (and no...I'm not going to do that).
Pros and cons

So far so good. A little eye strain and reflections but for the price hard to beat at the moment. I used the settings that one of the users that reviewed this product noted and helped a lot. The price is amazing and using the DP 1.2 port gets you the 4k60 we all want.

Very good cheap 4K monitor.
May 11, 2015
I just bought this to add to my desktop station. Before you even thing about buying this, you need to make sure you have a video card that supports 4K on DisplayPort or MiniDisplayPort. Using dual-link DVI will get you 4K resolution, but only at 30Hz, which makes mouse movements and video slow and not smooth. Using HDMI seems to limit you to 1080P/60. I'm not sure if this monitor supports HDMI 1.4 as I don't have a card that supports it. With DisplayPort, you can get 3840x2160 at 60 Hz which is the optimal resolution for this monitor. As for display quality, the gamma was way off in the default settings, as were color and contrast. Once i got those corrected, the display is quite nice, and well worth the $399 price. I don't see any bad pixels, and the resolution is very sharp at the optimal 3840x2160 resolution. I'm using this monitor with a EVGA GeForce GTX 750 and color and image quality are very good. I'm not a hard core calibrationist by any means, but once I fixed the gamma and color levels, I can get a natural to pictures and images.OSD menus are adequate, but slow. Also, it's not all well put together, as one corner of the plastic backing is not attached well. Also, of note, there is no VGA port so if you are planning on using this monitor with very old computers, it won't work.

Great specs, good price, bland product.
June 22, 2017
I was very excited for this display, but unfortunately had to return it. The pixel density was exactly what I was looking for (because I'm very used to retina screens from Apple) however the screen quality left something to be desired. It's not very bright and it had these weird, faint horizontal lines visible in the center portion of the screen. Beyond the screen, the materials and design are rather bland. It's a good price, but they should improve the product and charge a bit more. I ended up buying a slightly more expensive display from LG and it was much, much better.
Good Price

Everything works OK but Retina display isn't as sharp and clear as Apple's Retina displays. Good price.
Quality issue of rev A04
May 4, 2017
I bought my 1st Dell P2415Q on 2/4/2017 and I got rev A03, good stuff. Then I got 2nd one on 5/4/2017 and I got rev A04. When I compare both apple-to-apple using the same video card, the color and text shape of the latter rev are not comfortable in my eyes and I got dizzy. I switched the video port just to confirm it is not video card issue, still same discomfort from rev A04. Dell certainly has quality issue here, for the expensive more than $300 monitor I expect better quality product. Hence, I need to return.
Returning because of blacklight bleed and ipa glow
April 7, 2017
Bought this as a secondary monitor to watch movies on and play a couple games in 4k.
Unfortunately it has TERRIBLE backlight bleed and up a glow. Any movie with letterboxing or dark scenes looks terrible and washed out. And any video games with dark scenes are the same.
Returning and gonna pick up a tn panel because of much rather have slightly less vibrant colors than terrible contrast/ black levels.

Pictures taken in fairly lit room

Apparently most ips screens have these flaws so I'm not gonna give it a worse review

Pros: great color accuracy very vibrant
Great price
Pixel density is very sharp
Cons: terrible ips glow / backlight bleed
Not a bad monitor but a few issues.
November 10, 2016
Decent monitor but does have some issues. I have two of these and two of P2715Q as well. I work with DsiplayPort echnology so have some insights that may be helpful.
First, a word about DisplayPort cables. There are many in the market that do not follow the DisplayPort Standard because they carry the DP_PWR signal, which is provided at the connector to power adapters. If you can turn on your PC and Monitor and then connect the cable and it works, but cannot get one or the other to wake from sleep or power back on, you may have a bad cable. You can tell by unplugging the DP cable see that the device will wake or power on.
The monitor itself operates in three modes. Use the on-screen display (OSD) menu to navigate to Display. In those settings there is an option for MST (DisplayPort Multisream technology). MST is the feature that allows you connect these monitors in daisy-chain.
If MST mode Off, the monitor operates as 4k, 60Hz refresh.
In MST Mode Primary, the MST feature is turned on and the monitor operates at 4K 30 Hz refresh. That's because at 4k 60Hz, it uses up all of the DisplayPort bandwidth so a device connected to the DP Out port would not work.
In MST Mode Secondary, the monitor disables MST, declares itself to be "DP 1.1" and sets its resolution to 4k 30Hz. This is "compatible mode" and is default (out of box).
By the way, most Apple laptops do not support MST.
Regarding sleep/wake issues, this can be caused by an issue with monitor firmware. In MST mode, I've observed that the Hot Plug Detect (HPD) signal that the source (computer) uses to detect the monitor is connected is not always sent correctly by the monitor. It doesn't fail all the time and does not seem to affect MST Off or Secondary modes. I do a lot of sleep/wake testing with various sources and I only see failure to wake occasionally but often in MST mode with another monitor attached downstream.
I've spoken with the company that makes the DP chip and they fixed the issue but firmware updates for monitors in the field are not available.
If you aren't using MST mode, turn it off. If you think the image quality is not up to par, check to see if using Secondary mode and try MST Off instead.

Issues, but I found a fix and it works great.
November 20, 2016
Doesn't come without issues, but there is a fix I discovered while attempting to get the monitor to work again. Just take the monitor apart, unplug and replug all the connections. Take off the motherboard and reassemble everything. After I did that, the monitor came back to life and it's been working ever since.
First monitor I've had die.
April 5, 2016
The monitor worked fine until a few weeks ago when ti started flickering and getting red lines through it on occasion, then it quit recognizing any inputs at all. I am rating it 2 stars as of now because I've never had a monitor die on me, and pending the outcome of the RMA process from Upstar I will update this and the number of stars to reflect the outcome. It cost me 95 dollars to ship it to them, and that was on me, but they did a quick turn around. If they would have covered the shipping both ways on their product it would have gotten 5 stars.
Decent display
September 25, 2015
This monitor is pretty nice. Like others have said, it's a good monitor for the money. If image quality is extremely important to you, I would consider waiting a little longer and saving for a higher quality panel. The panel seems a bit uneven in terms of light that can pass through. There are small btotches in the panel and the very left side is darker than the rest of the panel. The controls are a bit clumsy and take a little getting used to. The brightness(backlight) is not where you'd expect it to be. Text is not crisp with this display as far as I can adjust. I have even used windows' cleartype adjustments and its just not quite there. If you're looking to purchase this monitor in hopes of 4k gaming, you may consider going with a 2650x1440 display or similar. You're going to need better than mine (gtx 970 i7-5820k 16gb ddr4) to run Metal Gear Solid 5 on max settings at 4k without slowdown. I run the game at 2650X1440 and it seems to run just fine. If you're set on 4k gaming at this stage, consider SLI with a couple really good graphics cards.Pros: - 4k resolution. - Many ways to connect - For the price, it really is a nice looking monitor, structurally - Able to enjoy the 4k content of Netflix (with account upgrade) and Amazon Prime and othersCons: - Blotchy display - Clumsy menu - Not a crisp display for text even with adjustments (May be this monitor) - Does NOT support 4k resolution at 60Hz as stated in the manual, threough HDMI 2.0Though the cons may be few, they are enough to reduce the rating by 2 stars. I would actually give this a 2.5 star rating if that would be allowed. If someone is coming from a TN or TF panel to this one, the image quality may not be that dramatic in difference, but if you've got an IPS display, you're going to be a little let down.All-in-all this is a good budget 4k monitor and I would recommend for everyday use.
It's OK

At the highest resolution, the frequency is set to 30Hz. Otherwise nice cheap 4k monitor.
Nice, but no sound.

Nice monitor for the price. However, mine audio doesn't work on this monitor. Getting ready to return.

Defective - Couldn't stay connected to MacBook
November 23, 2016
Failed to keep a good connection to my 2016 MacBook 12" Retina. Required restarts and plugging in, but still did not work well. And yes, I did go through the process of enabling 60 Hz 4K on the MacBook, but it still didn't work. The next monitor we bought (Samsung) worked perfectly.
Meh
November 12, 2015
I got this monitor in August, and it has already started to fail. I've seen dead pixels, and the monitor blinks out for seconds at a time. Swapped out for a different monitor to test whether the issue stems from the cable or video card, and the problem seems localized to the monitor. Boo.
DisplayPort Disconnects in Power Save Mode
November 6, 2015
This is an really beautiful monitor and my first try at 4k. Aside from Window 10 having rather abysmal options at UI scaling, this monitor was beautiful, crisp, and very light compared to my other monitors. I am however giving it two stars for one really serious issue that Dell doesn't seem too anxious to address or even acknowledge. When using DisplayPort, which is the only connection available if you want to hit 60hz refresh at 4k, the display will disconnect from the computer when the display goes to sleep. This has been mentioned by other reviewers and I didn't find these until i had already ordered and tried the monitor. I have plenty of Dell monitors connected via DisplayPort that don't suffer from this issue, but there doesn't seem to be any way around it with this display. The monitor revision I received from Amazon was A02, this issue is still present even after the first revision. Perhaps dell will address this in a future revision, which would be great since this really is a perfect display for the price. Normally I wouldn't be too bothered by windows resizing themselves, but Windows 10 also disables its display calibration luts when this happens, requiring a restart to get my X-Rite color calibration to kick back in. This was unbelievably frustrating, and was definitely a deal breaker for me.So buyers beware, if this is a deal breaker for you, this monitor will likely be an issue.
Good screen, but low-quality stand and frustrations with power-saving mode
September 14, 2015
I've had this monitor for a few months now and wanted to give an honest review. The monitor screen quality is very nice; sharp, and things are very detailed if your computer supports 4K resolutions (some older ones do not). However, my complaints are more about the secondary items on the monitor instead of the screen itself. The monitor rotates from portrait to landscape mode, but it doesn't sit flat when it's in the default landscape mode. It is slightly tilted to the right, and there's nothing I can do to fix it. They should lock the rotation a little more so that it sticks instead of being so free-floating. It wouldn't cost much to put in a proper locking mechanism. Also, the monitor constantly goes into power-saving mode and I frequently have to unplug the power cable and plug it back in to get the monitor to respond. I have it connected to a Macbook Air usually as an external monitor, and if I walk away and come back an hour later, the monitor will still be powered on but the screen will be blank and no matter how much I touch the keyboard/mouse, the monitor will not respond. My solution is to always turn the monitor off so that it won't go into power-saving mode, but this is annoying. When I turn the monitor off and come back a while later, I frequently have issues where it takes several times for it to respond to my keyboard/mouse. The monitor usually gives me the black/white fuzzy screen (like a TV channel you don't get) for several seconds until it realizes it's connected to a laptop and goes back to normal. These issues are what lead me to give this monitor a 2/5 review. The screen quality is good and I enjoy it, but the peripherals are such that I cannot recommend this monitor to anyone else until they are changed. If I could return the monitor, I would be greatly tempted to do so, and buy another monitor that solved these problems, even if it was more expensive. I toyed with the idea of a Mac Monitor, but those cost $1,000 and are getting pretty old. But those Mac Monitors don't have the annoying problems this Dell did.
Good monitor, crappy DP/mDP ports
August 16, 2015
This monitor looks great, has a good footprint on the desk, is brights, and takes input. But I have had it for just over 2 months and the display port and mini display port stopped working. It happened all of the sudden - I turned the monitor off and realized I had one thing left to do so immediately turned it back on. The monitor wouldn't come out of sleep mode, as if there was no input. Not the cable (tried 2 cables), not the computer (tried desktop and laptop). Never get signal into either the DP or mDP. Fortunately the HDMI works so the computer is usable.UPDATE: This becomes an on-again, off again issue. I had the Display Ports working after a few weeks of not. Then it started to flake again, requiring repeated plug/unplug. Now it won't work in DP at all.
Major sleep issues when using DisplayPort
August 6, 2015
Be careful ordering this monitor, as they have some serious issues resuming from sleep while using DisplayPort cables. I've tried both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, and these monitors often do not wake up unless you cycle power on them. I've also seen them completely freeze, where the power button does not work - forcing you to unplug them and plug them back in. I've read many threads where others are having this same issue, so do some searching online.

not quite ready for prime time.

The forget params feature/(BUG) and then require a reset on power fail is a major flaw. Menu, UP, Menu, UP, UP, Menu. Otherwise its a ok monitor. You get what you pay for and in this case you really know that's the case. Its a nice display but its HARD to keep working. It would have been a much nicer monitor if that had spent a couple more hours finishing the product before they rushed it out.

Pro's: Display was great, Cheap 4k solution while it workedCon: Mount is terrible, menus were slow. Screen glare was horrific had to use in dark room or you could not see anything. Most of all died 45 days after i got it.Would not recommend this product.
Having one dead pixel wasn't so bad, but my major issue with it was that ...
April 23, 2016
Having one dead pixel wasn't so bad, but my major issue with it was that every time I had to move it and unplug it from power, it reset EVERYTHING. The menu went to Chinese, and half the time, only part of the menu was on the screen. The first time I set it up, I had it plugged into a UPS that turned off when the computer turned off. It took me 45 minutes to figure out how to fix it, and customer service was no help. I figured it was a fluke, until I rearranged my desk, and had to unplug it to move it to another outlet. This time, the menu was in a different place, only the top third of it was visible, and I only had seconds before the sleep function took over, because it refused to accept that anything was plugged into it. once the sleep function took over, I had to power it off, and back on, to mess with the menus again.Needless to say, I returned the product. The only reason I gave it two stars is because when it worked, the image was great, but I don't recommend it for gaming. The refresh rate was low, causing blurring and cuts in fast video.
Great minus the reflective screen
April 19, 2016
I ended up ordering a replacement as soon as I got it. The price had dropped and there were two groupings of dead pixels. The pixels weren't too big of a deal, especially at 4K but I also wanted the discounted price. It came quick, and out of the box looked fine however the colors are very strange and took some tweaking.Nvidia had color radiance on and the monitor had some very strange settings that made it look like I was on slight mushrooms with how vivid it was. After spending maybe 5 minutes setting it up it works great. Video games look/play fantastic. My only ongoing gripe is that the screen has a glass panel over it much like apple monitors/laptops.I'm not sure if this is common to 4K UHD, but I know it's not for LED. The only time I've seen this type of glass is on apple products and Plasma tv's.It looks great but there are many windows and natural light so this screen is highly highly reflective of it. Annoying, but overall a great monitor for a great price.
Worked great for about a week
October 8, 2015
Worked great for about a week. Then no display (either "no cable" or "no signal") tried the same computer on other monitors and worked fine. I am having a replacement shipped. Fingers crossed I get a good one....
Color was good. Seemed like a good deal
September 23, 2015
Color was good. Seemed like a good deal. However, there were numerous stuck pixels. Had them send a second monitor. Had dust inside the glass in bad spots and a dead pixel and then it stopped working completely. I guess if you get a good one then awesome. However, if you don't get a good one then cut your losses early and move on to another monitor.

Arrived and worked fine until I tried to use the display port inputs and they didn't work at all, tried multiple computers none of them worked. Returned and went with an Asus version instead which works great.
but it sucked to try and get it fixed/replaced
November 5, 2015
Monitor started flickering in less than 90 days, then mDP port went dead. HDMI input still worked but it was flickering as well. Even in diagnostic mode the monitor flickered. Not sure what failed in the monitor, but it sucked to try and get it fixed/replaced. I had to work with Dell to get an exchange. The seller on Amazon named Firemall LLC was no help in facilitating a proof of purchase with Dell (which Dell required). I will not purchase anything from this seller again. Stay away from this Seller: http://www.amazon.com/shops/A9VBWN1Q1U6E6
A great product with terrible flaw.
September 25, 2015
A great product with terrible flaw.Well, it is fascinating how great technology and bad quality testing can result in such great and, at the same time, terrible product.Picture quality is unremarkable. Refresh rate (60HZ) when you have a Display Port and good video card is great. Size is great. Why I gave it 1 star?I bought two monitors and both have the same issue -- firmware (or mixture of hardware and software) is faulty. Once in a while (usually on a weekly basis) monitor becomes unresponsive and I have to physically go to the back of the monitor and disconnect/reconnect the power cable. Also, this unresponsiveness can happen when you connect a new video source, or when computer is going to the sleep mode. Monitor just 'hangs' - nothing can be done and the only solution is to power cycle the unit. It is painful for me because I have to walk around the table and it is hard to get there. Also, the back cover needs to be taken off to access the power connector. Is it normal? No.Would I buy this product knowing that I have to do this for many years? No.I called Dell and they told me that this is totally normal. After hours of screaming/arguing they sent me two replacements. I got them today (sent refurbished units instead). Good news? NO! Same issue! Then I checked other reviews -- many other users report the same issue- it does not wake up from the sleep!I would recommend to buy something else (considering the hefty price tag) or wait for another improved model, that has this issue fixed.Unfortunately I can't return it, it is past 30 days with Amazon.
UPDATE: Avoid this monitor. Displayport problems.
May 15, 2015
UPDATE: Tried to use this monitor (V. 01 firmware) on a PC and there is a KNOWN Displayport problem. Google it and you will see many frustrated customers. Sadly, I was leery that it was a Dell, since I have had MANY bad experiences. This is my last Dell for sure.

This is the worst 4k monitor on the market
August 4, 2017
This is the worst 4k monitor on the market.. It goes to a weird function if sat for long or power lost. In order to use it again you have to turn fast go to menu and some how factory reset before it sleeps giving you like 15 seconds to do all. Do not and i say again Do not buy from anyone they are only trying to sell you a piece of crap!! You have been warned!!!!!
Do not waste your money on a product that is not supported ...
April 15, 2017
The monitor did not even last one year. It was barely used and now it displays things sideways. I have tried to reset it and still nothing. I attempted to get in touch with company but they are out of business. As it is out of the 30 day period, I am basically am out of luck and stuck with a $300 book end. Do not waste your money on a product that is not supported by the manufacturer!!
Cheap and now broken one year later.
April 7, 2017
Purchased at the end of March last year. As of today its a big black brick on my desktop. $300 worth of use in one year. Wont connect via DV, HDMI or VGA connections, but powers up just fine. Would not recommend Upstar or any of its line of products. Save yourself the $50 you might spend on an otherwise decent quality monitor.
It worked great the first few weeks
June 21, 2016
As with many of the other reviewers, my monitor is not waking from sleep properly. It worked great the first few weeks, but now it is not performing correctly and I have passed the 30 day return window from the provided. I do NOT recommend this monitor for purchase.
Five Stars
May 24, 2016
Beautiful screen, but died within 2 months. Actually it died after using it for less than a week. JElectronics says they won't take returns back that are older than 30 days. The price of this monitor has dropped in recent weeks and is still falling. Beware: You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get. What junk.
Don't BUY!!
January 6, 2016
My original review is below. Upstar has zero customer service. My monitor isn't working anymore and I have no way to get ahold of technical support. If your looking to buy this just try and visit Upstar.com....you can't! Any number you get is disconnected. Shame company. Says it's a "USA" company...it's not. DONT NOT BUY!!!!Great monitor good price. It really is beautiful. Only done some small scale gaming and so far it's had no issues. Only thing bad about it....it has one dead pixel, which I only notice occasionally. Not really a big deal to me.
