Great unique gift for a child
June 18, 2015
I bought this for my 8 year old grandson for his birthday. He thought it was so cool with the changing light colors and different sound choices. It is one of a kind that is sure to thrill a young child, boy or girl. I have always been pleased with Amazon's easy to navigate site, prompt service, enormous variety of merchandise, , and value and quality.
Beats the children's products that claim the same benefit without the price
May 21, 2014
After a brief encounter with a carbon monoxide detector my child would not sleep. Every noise, every shadow was a cause for alarm. I bought this little thing to replace the hundreds of dollars worth of children's products that offer light and soothing sounds. Unlike any of those I could find this one actually lets you choose how long the nature sounds run--not every kid falls asleep in ten minutes, plus it glows to add a little extra light to the room and then turns off. All of the sounds on it are very pleasant and block out all the creatures that go bump in the night. It is a functional clock and the alarm works, the directions are lousy but it is pretty easy to figure out without one. It lasted 1.2 months before needing a new battery with use of the nature sounds for 30 minutes every night,
Great College Student alarm!
October 17, 2013
After figuring out how to use (not difficult btw, figured out most of it without the instruction manual), this alarm clock has been great! Between random sounds to fall asleep to and the ability to set a different sound for the alarm, this clock is great to move in the morning!
Perfect
December 2, 2012
I decided to buy this clock based on everyone else's "bad" reviews. So glad that I did! I wanted a small white or clear clock for my baby's nursery. I needed something that was battery operated, so I could move it around the room and not have to worry about finding a free plug. I really like that the color changing lights don't stay on constantly, only when the "nature sounds" are on. (My baby seems to enjoy listening to those sounds and watching the lights.) I also like that you can set the amount of time until the sounds shut off (one hour or less), so that it doesn't stay on all night. Seeing as how this is used in my baby's room, I also love the thermometer function. Bottom line, this is a nice, small, inexpensive, simple clock. As long as you read the manual, operating this clock is not confusing at all. Perfect for what I was looking for. However, I do not use it as an alarm clock, and not sure that I would. I am a sound sleeper and I don't think that the nature sounds would wake me up. There is a beeping alarm option, but it isn't very loud compared to other alarm clocks out there.
Great!

This alarm clock is great! It is a little bit confusing but it does have a very descriptive instruction manual. It is the first day I have had it but it is working perfectly and I have done a few practices and I love the sounds and everything for it. I also do like that it does turn off (the background light) because it would bug my sleep a TON!
Great Multi-function Clock!
September 15, 2011
I think it is super cute!! I love the sounds, the different colors that light up, the temperature feature and its unique look and size. Also, the alarm features works very well. All in all I really like it and would recommend it for anyone who is looking for something that doesnt take up too much space and is convenient .

Best Clock Radio I've Ever Owned!
July 11, 2017
I love this little clock radio! If you follow the instructions carefully, it's quite easy to set up just the way you like it. Some people have complained about the brightness of the display; however, I don't have any problem with it at all. You're given a choice of quite bright (good for reading the clock in daylight), dimmed (good for reading the clock in darkness), and completely off (just black). So if the dimmed setting were too bright to sleep by (which it isn't for me), I would simply set the display to "off" and, if I wanted to check the time during the night, I would just tap the dimmer button and, voila!, there's the display. Tap it again, and the display is dimmed. Tap it once more, and the display is all black again. I also appreciate the small footprint of this clock radio. It doesn't take up nearly as much space as my previous clock radio did. I think this is an excellent product and am very happy I bought it!
Good clock
April 15, 2017
I bought this clock after our old one, different brand, stopped working. After reading reviews I was a little worried but purchased it anyway. It was fairly easy yo set up. I did need to follow the directions to set the dual alarms. (Sorry folks, but reading directions is needed! We are so used to things being so automatic that we forget how important directions are.) Anyway, once that was set, things have been great! My only complaint is how bright it is. It is very bright on the second setting. Level one will let up the room, two my side of the room, and three no light at all. I wish there was a level between two and three, but that is a personal preference. It has nothing to do with how well the clock works, etc. I gave it five stars because it does exactly what it is supposed to do. The alarm is loud and can scare the pants off of you! This is my only warning! 🙂
Best alarm I've ever owned (and I've had half-a-dozen)
April 11, 2017
This is the perfect alarm clock for me! It does EXACTLY what I want and no more. It is compact, easy to read, and relatively easy to set up. The only thing I had to get used to was the brightness of the display. My old clocks were pretty dim so I could leave the display on all the time. This is backlit so brightly that it can function as a night-light (which helps me get into bed without stubbing my toe). The manufacturer wisely put the dimmer right on top of the unit so you can dim it or shut off the display with a quick tap or two. But how do you know what time it is in the middle of the night? That's the best part! That little projector that shoots onto the ceiling TOTALLY WORKS. I thought that might be gimmicky but both my wife and I love it! You just pop your eyes open and look at the ceiling for the time. Very very nice. Finally, the radio has just one station programmed for your alarm. Most other clocks have multiple presets for the radio. But this is NOT a clock radio - is it an alarm clock that allows you to wake up to the radio. I NEVER used those presets on my old clocks. This unit is simple, clean, efficient - perfect.
This Is Great!
March 17, 2017
I was looking for an alarm clock with larger numbers in blue. Most alarm clocks have smaller numbers in red, or sometimes green. But I wanted blue because it's the most pleasant to read in the dark upon waking.I saw that this was the best seller and met my requirement of blue lighting and larger numbers. As an added bonus, there's an "arm" on the left side of this that projects the current time onto your ceiling, wall, etc (wherever you aim it). You can opt to not turn the projection on, but I like it. It's great. The projected time is in red. I wish it was blue but not a huge deal. Also as a bonus, the front display shows the room temperature in either C or F. (There's a small temp probe sticking out of the back of the unit.)The time sets automatically but you can manually adjust it to.I saw some bad reviews and was a little worried but I've this for a couple weeks and it's been trouble-free. I'm going to order another one to stick in the closet in case they stop making this (though I'm not sure why they would). My only suggestion to the manufacturer is to make the projection blue, but it's not enough of a shortcoming to knock a star off the rating.
Clock radio with Projected Time is a game changer!
March 14, 2017
Love the projected time because the clock face is waaay too bright even on lowest dim setting. But the Projected Time on the ceiling is the bomb! Not bright and there for you to see while you're laying down. Don't have to fight covers, pillows, pets, or wife to get up to see the time on the clock across the room. I did order some Dim It light dimming sheets for the clock radio to try out so that it will be easier to see the time during the day or when the light is on. (Currently have the dim setting to "no display") because it is just way too bright. I'd give this 4 stars because of that, but the projected time makes up for it.
So many useful features packed into an affordable alarm clock!
October 10, 2016
This is an awesome alarm clock! I was actually searching for an alarm clock that would wake me up in the morning with the radio, and I am so happy found this. In addition to having the radio option, it also has a thermometer function for your room. A very useful option in my opinion, is the dual alarm setting; being able to set two separate alarms ensures that I don't sleep thru by accidently turning off the first. And the nap function is very convenient when I feel like taking a quick power nap.The feature that I was not particularly looking for, but turned out to such an incredible tool, was the Time Projection! It is so awesome to not have to turn towards the alarm clock to see the time in the event of waking up in the middle of night, and wondering how much longer I can stay in bed for lol. My mom saw the projection feature and had me order her one the same day!

Great clock; lasts lo
June 20, 2015
I bought this clock about a year ago, for my grandmother, when she started having memory issues. She thinks it is the best thing since sliced bread. She loves being able to see the date in a digital format and enjoys the color changing lights from time to time. What annoys me is that the clock just died. We had never changed the batteries so we thought they had died. I put new ones in and nothing - it just doesn't work. But for approximately $20 (probably around what I paid at the time), it was worth it. I'm searching for another. She likes it THAT much.

My 6-year-old grandson told me the only thing missing from the playroom/kids' bedroom was a clock. I ordered this one for the price, brand and features and am not disappointed. It is colorful and the alarm will be useful since my grandkids are with me at times overnight on weekdays at times and they will use it to get up for school. I would have liked the time display to be a little larger. My grandkids, ages 2 to 6, are learning to tell time with a "gadget" they find interesting while even my 10-year-old granddaughter likes this product.
My preschooler is motivated by it
March 25, 2014
Like many parents of preschoolers, my preschooler sneaks into my bed in the early morning hours. Now she has a clock that tells her when she needs to stay in her bed. And if she stays in it all through the night and morning, she gets to see and hear the fun alarm.about features- Like a telephone, the buttons beep to give you feedback that you've pressed the button. Apparently some customers don't like the pitch of the sound.- Oddly, the alarm is turned off by pressing the "set" button. Not a big deal for me as I'm not relying on the small child to turn it off. I do it.- laughably, the up button is located below the down button.- front cover--softer plastic than I expected which I noticed from a scratch in the first weekbottomline--it was never meant to be a long term clock for an adult, just something fun and motivating for a small child for a while. It's meeting our needs fine enough.
A nice 2nd alarm
March 5, 2014
I was having a hard time waking up, and needed a 2nd alarm (I don't want to get rid of my ancient clock radio!) It's smaller than I thought it would be, and not very user friendly. All the control buttons are around the rim of the face, so it's hard to hit the snooze button when you're half-conscious (which is no bad thing for my purposes). But, surprisingly, I've enjoyed the white noise to go to sleep with. I've set it for 9 minutes to the "babbling brook" option, and I'm out like a light.
Pleasantly surprised
December 17, 2013
My daughters have love this clock and enjoy the fun sounds it makes. It is not very loud and they sleep through it more often than wake up to it. It dose not have annoying sounds that last for long periods of time, so if they forget to turn it off on a Saturday morning it doesn't wake up the whole house, and it will stop after a short time. It was easy to program and they can do it themselves. I am surprised it has not broken yet because it feels rather flimsy, but my girls have carried it all around the house and dropped it once or twice but it has continued to perform well. Also, to my surprise the batteries have lasted a long time. It doesn't suck up batteries and we haven't had to change them once.
Mostly love this "orb of tranquility."
March 4, 2013
I teach about 100 terribly hyper and quick-to-anger 9th graders. We've dubbed this the "orb of tranquility," and for some of the students it's provided some amazing calm. If someone's getting especially worked up, I can turn on the sounds, put it by their ear, and most of the time it really does calm them down. The only bad things:-Doesn't keep time that well (this was not a tremendously important feature to me, but, clearly, would be a big issue to other people). The batteries slow down quickly, so I wouldn't make this your alarm clock or anything.-You can't turn the lights on without turning on the sound.

Finally the clock radio I have been looking for
July 9, 2017
I really like this clock. I had fun figuring out the various functions and it didn't take long to set up. Instructions were easy to follow as well.I set this up just over my bed. The radio plays quite well and can be very loud yet clear. However, because I'm used to quiet I find that even on the lowest volume it is still a bit too loud for me. The alarm is a real wake up call..loud...I am still trying to figure out how to reset the time for the alarm. Everything else work great.I love the fact that there is the time projection for on the roof or wall so I don't have to get up to see the time, simply roll over and look up.This clock-radio is what it says and does what it says. Great product.
... a clock radio that has AM radio I was pleased to find this one
May 31, 2017
After looking for a clock radio that has AM radio I was pleased to find this one. The radio works well. I live in an area that gets poor reception and the stations come in clearly.. a big plus!I like being able to tell the temperature of the room and the way the clock set itself to Eastern Daylight Savings Time without me having to do a thing.I found the device to not be very intuitive when it came to setting the alarms and stations. You need to read the directions carefully and go step by step in order to figure it out. However, it works as it should. Just keep the directions next to the radio in case you forget what to do.
Very nice projection/alarm clock, but don't lose the operation manual
March 23, 2017
Very cool clock. I replaced an older projector clock with this one. This is a major upgrade. Also, the projection is very sharp after focusing.User observations: 1: R (and save) TFM! This is not a user friendly machine to set up; you will need to read the directions. 2: The clock does not sync with the atomic clock - mine came about 7 minutes off after adjusting for my time zone - had to change that, 3: It will not effectively wake a heavy sleeper (such as myself)... 3a: It is very polite with the "buzzer"; 1 short beep per second for 1st 10 seconds, 2 per for next 10 seconds, etc. 'til you have a bee in your ear. 4: The radio is a nice function to listen to while doing other stuff (mono-aural, no output for better sound system) 5: Don't buy a 9 volt battery for this; it takes a button battery for backup (included in mine). That surprised me as I had bought 9 volts for it. My err. 6: I purchased a second one as a travel clock. I'm that impressed overall.
Pretty good
January 21, 2017
It's a pretty good clock overall.Pros:1) Love the time projection on the wall at night. My vision is less than perfect, and it is very convenient to look on the wall to see the time easily, in the middle of the night.2) It is a nice compact size. Doesn't take up too much room on my shelf.3) Lots of great features to serve your many needs.Cons:1) Backup battery lid is screwed on super tight, and was very hard to get off. I wanted to take it off to see what the battery looked like, and it was a pain in the neck to remove the lid. I had to use a mini screw driver and a rubber kitchen grip, and apply lots of force.2) Way too many confusing buttons. I need the owner's manual next to me to remember how to use all the features.Note: When I 1st tested the radio alarm, I noticed the music came on way too quiet, not loud enough to wake me up. For this reason, I was about to return this item. But then I realized, the radio alarm starts out quiet, and gets progressively louder as the minutes pass. So, the volume worked out being fine for me, despite my initial opinion.
Decent Device But Be Careful With Trusting All Those Reviews
August 15, 2015
The device is decent. I haven't had any trouble with it and it does what it says it does. That's not why I felt compelled to write this review though.I want to bring to shoppers' attention that a while after I purchased this product, ShopTronics, the seller, emailed me a form letter asking that I write a review of the Electrohome Projection Alarm Clock on Amazon in return for a 1 year extension of the product's warranty. And once I do that to fill in a form on a linked website to get the extension. The form on their website has a spot for the review text, the star rating given, and some instructions include the following lines of text:"The star rating of your review has no impact on your extended warranty."but then"7) Complimentary extended warranties will only be given for reviews that are deemed helpful and constructive. Any reviewer that meets all standards will receive an email notification with the Extended Warranty Confirmation."which is leading. Now, granted nowhere do they actually say leave them a good review or a review of a certain number of stars. But who would give them a negative or even mediocre review and then turn around and ask them for a gift? And would such reviews be considered helpful and constructive? I don't know. I believe though this is effectively buying good customer reviews with a small bonus, which ought to reflect poorly on them and is against Amazon's review guidelines.Again, the device is decent, but just keep the above in mind while looking at the reviews.
Pleasant Wake-Up Call
August 30, 2010
I've had this alarm clock for almost a month now and for the most part, am pleased with my purchase. The dual alarms are convenient; one time for M-F and another for weekends without having to manually change the setting every week. I know the time is always accurate - I can rest secure even if there's a power failure that I will get up on time. It's compact size doesn't take up too much room on the night stand. The red ceiling projection light is soft and non-disturbing, yet it does the job. The radio is just a convenient plus and use it to listen to weather forecasts. My one complaint is that the display light for the front of the clock is too bright, even in its 'dim' setting. It lights up my entire night stand - like having a 'night-light' plugged in. It's a bother on sleepless nights. When you turn it away from you, the ceiling projection is sideways. On the bright side, (pun intended), I don't have to switch on a light if I make a bathroom trip in the middle of the night. This bothersome feature is why I gave it a 4-rating instead of a 5. Perhaps Magnasonic can work on improving this feature.

Cheap, but works
March 5, 2017
It does it's job, but it's cheap.
Meh...
November 21, 2014
It's alright, for the price. I don't love the options for the different sounds, but my daughter does so it's not a problem. She also loves to fall asleep to the nature sounds every night. My only complaint is that it isn't very easy to use, and any time she needs to turn the alarm off or on, she needs my help, and even I have difficulty doing it because there are so many buttons, they're easy to mix up, and you have to press three or more to make any changes. Not my favorite thing to do. This also means a lot of times we're woken up by her alarm on the weekends because she thought she turned it off but it didn't take.
not as cool as it looks and BATTERY OPERATED ONLY
February 21, 2014
I am SO disappointed that the shiny chrome spot on top is not the snooze button. Instead you have to search for a small white button with an embossed label that I can't read without my glasses. I will learn which one works but when I forget to disable the alarm before I step into the shower and my husband needs to turn the alarm off, he's going to get pissed off and probably throw this clock through the window. Also this is BATTERY OPERATED ONLY, which I think ought to be more clear in the description. In my experience, any clock that does not plug in to A/C is called a "travel" alarm clock. I just got it today, so I'll give it a try, but expectations are low.
neato but cheap.
September 1, 2013
My three and five year olds love this clock and it was very cheap. It plays 4 different nature sounds while rotating through all the colors on the dash and projected all around. This works like a sleep function with auto shutoff.I have a couple of complaints. Why not make it with a power cord to the wall? The cheap AAA battery door was lost the first week, but the batteries stay in on their own without it.I don't know who designed a clock where the up button is below the down button. I probably won't get used to that. But it was cheap and the kids love it.
It's a clock.
June 9, 2013
It lacks a lot of features I expected it to have. There's no way to keep the light on all the time, and there's no easy button to press to make the light come on. It makes it a chore to try and see the time at night. The interface is also extremely clunky. I had to read instructions to do anything, and I've never had to do that with such a simple clock. There's also no optional adapter, so you have to use batteries. The sounds are a bit lower quality than I had hoped, but I guess I should have expected that.It looks kinda pretty, but since the light isn't always on, it just looks like a clear plastic ball most of the time. It's a clock is the only good thing I can say about it.
cute, tells time, but no permanent backlight for nighttime viewing
December 21, 2011
As far as I can tell, the colors only change when 1) a button is pressed or 2) you play the "soothing sounds". Otherwise it looks like a clear plastic sphere with a white faceplace/insert. The silver "button" on top apparently does nothing (I thought this would be perfect for snooze!). The soothing sounds are very digitized, but for the price I wasn't expecting much from that feature. I had thought with an "INDIGLO night-light" that the clock would remain backlit at night, but that does not appear to be the case--at night you have to press one of the face buttons (which always BEEP when pressed, annoying!) and then you get a brief backlight. The pros...it's cheap, it tells the time/date/temperature (though I have yet to understand why anyone needs their room temperature readout on their clock), you can wake up to a pseudo-nature sound that is not a buzzer, and it runs on batteries so it is small and compact without needing a trailing cord. I think the design overall is cute, but the functionality could have been much improved.

Not as great as reviews
July 6, 2017
I bought this alarm clock because of all the great reviews but after using it I wish I had just gotten a cheap basic one. It isn't a bad clock, but I didn't think it was amazing. The one nice thing I like about it is I can set it to work Monday through Friday and not worry about turning it off. These are the things I don't like about it:- the clock face light is so extremely bright I found it to be too bright in the night for me.- when I turned it to the soft light, I can't read it from my dresser and have to rely on the projector- the projector only works in two directions so if you want the clock facing you on your nightstand, the time projected on the ceiling will be sideways- the projector doesn't work on sunny days especially for me because in the summer it gets light for me around 4am- the radio on its softest volume is too loud for me. I was disappointed that I couldn't get it lower
Good clock but projections won't work in less than a year.
May 27, 2017
This clock has very nice functions but is complicated to use. It's a learning curve do how to operate the alarm clock but once you get it, you would like it.This is my second projection clock and the projector stopped working in less than a year: shows a wrong time that couldn't be changed and later won't display right. Seems like this kind if projection clock has a short life or maybe that's why they ask you to buy the protection plan...I will try a different product.
Projector needs brightness adjustment, and the ability to go brighter.
April 9, 2017
I work nights and sleep during the day, so I have my room set up with blackout curtains, and it's generally pretty dark in there - but there's still a little light the bleeds in around the curtains. This clock is set up about 15 feet away from the wall I project it onto. I did that so that the numbers would be very large, so I and my wife can read them without glasses (the farther away you project, the larger the numbers). This distance is clearly within the design specs of the unit, because the projector has a focus knob on it, and my projection comes into focus somewhere in the middle of the range. The display is dim enough to be kind of difficult to read in my blacked-out daylight conditions. If I open the curtains just a little bit and let any light into the room, the projected display is not visible at all. Even in the dead of night, it isn't all that bright - but you can see it.I understand that, to make this display brighter, they would have to have a laser that is really bright that potentially shines across a path people cross, and could hit some people in the eyes. So it's a compromise. All I'm saying, is that if you want a really good solution for viewing the time without your glasses, get a large, backlit face clock and hang it on the wall.
Doesn't keep accurate time...disappointing!
December 27, 2016
I like everything about this clock except for the fact that the time is not accurate. It is 4 minutes off from the correct time according to my iPhone and Alexa. 4 minutes slow. After reading the one star reviews (unfortunately I read those AFTER I ordered the clock) I realized that this is a known problem, possibly due to the fact that the time is factory set and the clock isn't atomic.I will most likely be returning this clock, incorrect time is a deal breaker for me.Projection works nicely, I was able to program both alarms by following the instructions. Radio sound is a bit tinny but to be expected as this is a small radio.
A Lot of Features, Good Sound, Limited Placement
June 26, 2014
This clock radio has a lot of nice features: Auto adjustment, dual alarms that can be independently set up to either turn on the radio or buzz. The ceiling projector is nice, too. It has a wire for the indoor temperature sensor, so it can be placed more stategically. For example, my clock is located below my air conditioner, but the sensor is picking up the temperature in front of my dresser, away from the direct air flow of the air conditioner. For a non-premium clock radio, the sound is pretty good. Not high fidelity by any means, but a lot better than I usually hear from similar radios in the price range. So, why three stars? Well, first of all, the main reason I wante a large numbers clock was so I could see the time without my glasses. While the display is larger than most, it still isn't that large. The projection display also is not that big, but I can aim it to be closer. At a distance of approximately 6 feet, I cannot clearly read the numbers without my glasses. Closer than that is fine. Of course, this depends on how bad or good one's vision is. The other thing is that the auto setting for the brightness of display doesn't seem to adjust. In fact, it makes the display barely visible, even in the dark. Perhaps I have a defective one. However, I have not found either the low or high settings to produce disturbing light at night. Finally, the auto set has set the clock 2 minutes behind my other auto-set devices. It can be changed manually, but it seems odd that it is two minutes off. But, I'm one of those crazies who tries to get every clock in the house to change at the same time.
Much brighter than you think...
June 16, 2014
The one comment that is echoed in several reviews is that the display digits are too bright. Well, I have to say the reviews have really understated the situation.First of all, it needs to be known that the display has a switch to control brightness. There is a "Bright" (or "Normal") position, a "Dim" position and an "Off" position. When in the "Off" position, you can still just barely see the digits in the day but you have to look very close. So the big complaint has been that the "Dim" position is still too bright. So how bright is it? Well, let's just say that I can see everything in my bedroom without turning on any lights. And since this little flashlight is sitting on my headboard, you can certainly understand why this is annoying as heck. But there is another annoying design flaw in this product. The radio is not digitally tuned. Yes, it does display the station number in digits but the tuning is analog. If you remember those old transistor radios from 30-40 years ago, you will know what I am talking about. They designed it this way to save money but the tuning result is horrible. Since there is no phase-lock-loop (PLL) circuit, the radio drifts in and out of being spot on. This is equally annoying. Finally, it must be commented that the initial setup of this little device is a much more complicated that a typical clock radio. You will definitely need to read the instructions and I mean more than just a brief review. Many of these modern devices use buttons like Up and Down that perform multiple functions depending on the mode that has been initiated. And that is exactly the case when you try to set the alarm time. So just take the time to have the manual handy when you program this for the first time. Two things that did work very well were the setting of the time and the time projection on the ceiling. The time was set automatically immediately on power up. This feature worked perfectly. And the clarity of the digital time projection is outstanding.

Well, its a clock...
January 10, 2014
The actual clock display is about the only positive thing about this. Let me start out by saying this photo is VERY misleading. THE clock is essentially a clear sphere with a small column up the center. As its referred to as color changing, and even the words "night light" on the front of the clock, the illumination only happens when you press a button, or when the soothing sounds are playing. The colors do not transition into each other, they abruptly appear one after the other, and some of the colors are really quite bright in the dark. Take note, the actual clock face does not light up, and is therefore hard to see in the dark unless you have the blinding colors going. The "soothing sounds" are frankly not very soothing, as I don't find loud pings or the loud clanking associated with ships comforting. Even further, the lowest volume setting is still quite loud from my bedside table. I also don't know why they bothered labeling the buttons, as all of them have multiple functions, and slightly annoying that DOWN button is placed over the UP button. As far as pros go, once you figure out the buttons, its easy to set. I like the fact it does run on AAA batteries, as it frees up one more outlet. I will keep using this, because it ultimately does what I want it to do, but I am disappointed in all the things that make it more than just a clock.
I should've read more spec's

This is a great clock... and that's it. There isn't a designed option to continuously have the clock's LED lighting 'on' all the time. I have rechargeable batteries and was hoping for this feature. A light blue or purple LED lighting near my end desk would've been nice. But this is not to be with this product.I should've read the spec's more closely. It only light's up when you touch a button(an unnecessary button at that), and only for a few seconds.Oh well, it wasn't a pricey error on my part.
This thing is silly, absolutely silly

I just got this, and it is so useless, that I am not even angry, I am laughing. I really am. For 6.50, and free shipping from Hong Kong, what did i really expect? First of all, it is about the size of a softball, round, and clear lucite/plastic...When I put the batteries in, it started to make this static like noise, very low, it is still making thatsound, I cannot turn if off...lol...I guess that is the nature sound..lol....The printing on the front of this thing, you can not even read it, the directions, are in English and Chinese....it does not work, it looks like something from the 60s, round and egg like...The very top piece, which is silver, has no function whatsoever....just decorative...that is the place where every clock has a snooze...But wait...there is more..lol....I will use this as a gag gift for Halloween or something....or take it to my office and it my desk, and when people come by, they will ask me what it is...so if you want a cheap gag gift, this is it, otherwise, go somewhere local and buy a real clock that you can see, touch..etc...I really even wonder if the people from Timex have ever even seen this thing?
Wow... it really is that bad.
September 10, 2013
I bought this for a kindergartner, to help him wake up on his own. Now, I'm a smart person. I can figure anything out. I scoffed at the other reviewers, smug in my confidence that although all those idiots couldn't figure this thing out, I'd have no problems. So... I HATE this thing. It is incredibly unintuitive to use. Yes, I saved the owner's manual, but I don't want to get it out every time I want to change something (which is more often than I anticipated, because the kid changes settings accidentally all the time). I think what makes it so difficult is that the button labels mean nothing, and it's unclear what, if any, setting you've just changed when you push them. Also, the alarm is too quiet. Perhaps I can change the volume, but I'd have to consult the owner's manual to do that. The setting that allows soothing sounds and lights for a set period of time is nice. My kid likes to go to sleep watching and listening to it.So, the sounds are nice. The lights are nice. Overall, it looks pretty cool. It is small, light, and cheap. It runs on batteries. It would be really great for a kid, except for the bizarrely clumsy user interface.
Worth my money, but probably not yours.

I am a connoisseur of bad usability design, and I love this alarm clock! I have definitely gotten my money’s worth of amusement out of it. It’s like the design team at Timex set out to take a simple, well-established piece of technology and make it as unusable as possible.I can’t decide which is my favorite feature. Is it the ear-splitting beep at every button-press that wakes up everyone in the house when you go to set your alarm at night? Is it the small, close-set buttons that each have several features having nothing to do with the feature they’re labeled with?Is it the “soothing sound” that goes PING! PING! every five seconds or so?...No, I think my favorite feature of all is the placement of two of the buttons arranged vertically on the front surface of the clock: the Up button BELOW the Down button.Beautiful!
So-So
September 21, 2012
I didn't expect a lot from this, but I was still not really happy with it. *Every* time you hit a button, you get a loud "chirp" noise, which makes trying to adjust anything on it next to someone sleeping hopeless. I had thought that the sounds would be constant, continue until turned off, it turns out they're on for a maximum of one hour (you can reduce the time, but not increase it), which made it useless for me (I need something that can run all night long). I wound up giving it to my 4 year old, she likes the sounds and the pretty colors.

Clock runs slow
June 5, 2017
Yes it does project the time which is what I wanted. What I also wanted was a clock that kept the correct time. This clock loses a little over one minute per month. I reset the clock at the beginning of January (yet again) and set it one minute ahead. Now six months later it has lost seven minutes and I will have to reset it again. This is not something that I want to keep doing. It is annoying having to remember how much time it has lost and then add it to display to get the correct time.
Worst radio sound ever.
March 20, 2017
I like most of the alarm clock. I really like the display and projection, however, there are two reasons why I will probably send it back. First, the alarm only goes off for 30 minutes and there is no way to change this. I enjoy listening to the radio in the morning and 30 minutes is just not long enough. Second, and probably the fatal flaw is the sound quality. The sound is awful and very crackly. It sounds worse than any alarm clock radio I have ever owned! For a clock and thermometer, this is great. For a radio, it is the worst.
Not a good fit
March 11, 2017
I found this clock to be overcomplicated. Even after familiarizing myself with the layout, waking to this clock was not pleasant as I have traditionally had a wide, fat snooze button on a clock with a low center of gravity. I've knocked this thing over about twenty times now. Plus, I've discovered that while I thought having the time on the ceiling would be cool, it just pi$$e$ me off now. The characters never seem quite right and if you want to orient the letters so you can read it when you're laying on your back, then you can't see the alarm in the dark room to turn it off. If you're a stomach sleeper, don't even bother. Just keep you're old one. It's a good product. It works. It's does what it's advertised to do. I just thought it would fit my life better.
Two stars after first night
January 24, 2017
First impressions I would have given this clock four stars but then I used it. The buttons are a little confusing, they all have multiple functions depending on what you are doing but I was able to get it setup without reading through the directions so they can't be all that bad. There are no dedicated buttons for radio presets so you have to press one button multiple times to cycle through them, mildly annoying but OK. The volume is controlled by buttons, not my favorite but pretty standard so that's fine too, but there are only 15 volume setting options and the quietest settings is still a bit to loud to fall asleep to in my opinion. And finally, when setting the alarm you have to set a volume for it. I originally thought this was great, I don't have to remember to set the volume before going to bed every night. The next morning when the alarm went off I realized I had set the volume a bit loud, no problem, just roll over and turn it down right? Nope, when the alarm is on you can not change the volume, you have to turn the alarm radio off and the regular radio back on to change the volume. This is not a well thought out clock. All of the features are there and they all technically work but in practice nothing is as intuitive or straightforward as it could / should be.
Great Clock...for 3 days at a time
October 19, 2016
I ordered two of these to replace my alarm clock and my wife's. When they arrived, they were easy to setup (I only had to adjust the time by about 4 minutes). For the price, it seemed like a nice alarm clock. I like that there are two alarms that can be set to buzz or radio. The menus aren't as intuitive as other clocks, but easy enough to navigate. And the time projection was great. My wife's clock worked flawlessly out of the box, but mine had a dimmer issue. The display is supposed to have a HI-LOW-OFF dimmer setting, but mine was HI-OFF-OFF, no middle option. Well, the HI can light up a room and the off is more of a negative display (turning the screen black and the numbers a dim white). The LOW on the other unit is good for night time viewing, but mine didn't have that.I contacted the manufacturer instead of Amazon and they had me try a reset, which didn't work. So they sent me another unit right away. I was please with the customer service and how easy it was to handle this issue. The day the new one showed up, everything went right; however, the blue display was a different shade of blue than the original my wife had. This not only triggered a minor O.C.D. impulse in me, but also caused me to question the overall consistency and quality control of the manufacturer. But I can overlook that as long as the unit functions, and it did.No joke, 2 hours later my wife's unit started acting up. The radio was only bringing in static and there was a slight "digital" bleeping sound in the background. I tried adjusting the FM antenna with no luck. Then the alarm refused to be set. The button (pressed once to get into the alarm setting function, then pressed and held to start the set) would only let me see what the alarm was already set to, but not adjust it to a new alarm. Out of frustration, I unplugged it and plugged it back in...and the radio worked! Hooray. Clearly not an antenna or location problem, just something inside failed. But the alarm never regained functioning.Instead of dealing with getting ANOTHER new one from the manufacturer, I just sent everything back.Great clock if/when it works...but have two out of three fail in 4 days isn't a good first impression. Congrats to the several thousand people who had 5-Star success...but I'm in the 2-3 star approval range for this product. I've attached photos only to illustrate the dimmer settings of HI-LOW-OFF. The pics were taking with a crappy cell phone camera so I adjusted them to attempt to give a more accurate depiction, hopefully that helps SOMEONE, though my advice is to just buy something else entirely.
Not an atomic clock.
February 10, 2015
This clock comes with the time preset at the factory and that is maintained during shipping by a battery. On set up it simply asks you your time zone to adjust. Despite even saying "SelfSet" on the box, all the manufacturer intends is that the clock has a battery and will not loose the time during a power outage, just like every other alarm clock with a battery. When I bought it, I thought this clock would use the radio signals that "atomic clocks" use, but it does not.See the review by Tim H for more details: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1CQHI26PNBD3G/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm/?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003WGRUQQAs many reviews have said, the screen is very bright even on the lowest setting, but mercifully you can turn it off and rely on the projector. This clock also does not have a digital tuner for the radio. It will show you a digital display of which frequency you're close to, but it's an old fashioned wheel tuner so it's not locking on to exactly that frequency. The buttons are not self-explanatory. Almost every button has a special function that is enabled by holding it down, but you have no idea what that is without the manual. If you loose the manual you're going to forget how to even set the time.I sent this back and got a Sony ICFC1PJ (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IEYHMPK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's a much nicer clock, doesn't have the brightness issue, and it has a digital tuner.

Worst user interface ever!
August 27, 2016
This clock should win an award for the worst, most non-intuitive user interface. Buttons don't do what you'd expect at all, just try randomly, maybe you'll be lucky and stumble on WHT you want. Lower button advances time, upper button decreases it, big obvious button on top does nothing at all, snooze works sometimes, or you might just oversleep. Colors flash randomly along with a loud annoying beep on each button press. I hate this thing!
There's little to recommend this clock
February 16, 2016
Pros:The changing colors and different alarm sounds are nice.Cons:Poorly constructed.Loud operationNot durableReview:This is truly one of the worst products I've purchased. I got it because I was looking for a battery operated alarm clock and the price was decent. You get what you pay for. Right off the bat, the battery clover wouldn't stay on. It wasn't broken, mind you, it just did stay on. I then periodically had a problem with the batteries popping out and I had to reset the clock.Speaking of the setting the clock, it's annoying. It beeps - loudly - every time you press a button. When having to do this more often than usual because the batteries have popped out, it gets on your nerves. The changing colors are an interesting, but utterly unnecessary addition as are the different alarm sounds, which I suppose can be more pleasant than a grating beeping like most alarm clocks. But other than that, it's junk. The upper display is already not working. Buy something else.
total frustrating waste of money!
October 8, 2015
I HATE this alarm clock!! It changed, for no apparent reason, to military time, witch isn't necessarily a big deal, but annoying all the same. Buttons don't make sense, and don't seem to do what their supposed to. EXTREMELY hard to navigate. "soothing" (Extremely loud) sounds only seem to come on when you are trying to figure out how to work the thing. Maybe the sounds are there to soothe your frustrations. Changing color lights? Same thing, only when your trying to set time, alarm, etc. I gave up on this piece of junk after a week. It now resides in the back of a closet somewhere. What a waste of money!!

I had no problem setting this up, but it's got some problems.First off: the day after I put brand new batteries in it, it somehow found itself two days and several hours behind.Second: you can't make it light up without making it beep. I had wanted it so that when I woke up in the middle of the night, I could see what time it was and go back to bed... The beep is loud enough to wake the whole house.Wish I had read the reviews.
Stupidest clock EVER!!!
May 18, 2014
I purchased this clock… after several other failures b/c I'm tired of the loud obnoxious alarms on most other clocks and I didn't want a radio. I have 6 kids… it doesn't take an Act of God to wake me up. This clock…though pleasing to the ears is the most ridiculous clock ever. First, the numbers don't light up so if you need to check the time at night you have to press a button which wouldn't be so bad except that every time you press ANY button it makes a very loud obnoxious beeping sound. Not good when rest of house is sleeping. Then, the controls are so illogical and backward… I've one alarm time set and if I need another time I use my cell phone b/c I can't figure out how to change it without the manual… which means it isn't easy and if it's not easy then I don't have time for it. To repeat… EVERY time you press ANY button… even to turn alarm on, get light… the same loud obnoxious beep occurs. Shouldn't alarm clocks be quiet until you want to wake up?? Would NOT recommend this product to anyone for any reason. If I could find a clock I liked I'd return it……
Doesn't keep time
December 20, 2013
I bought it so my second grader could have her own alarm clock and practice time being aware of the time, etc. It has a lot of great functions--date, time in twelve or 24 hour options, temperature, etc. This alarm clock has fun colors and sounds. Unfortunately, it doesn't actually keep the time.At first I wondered if my daughter was playing with it and messing it up pushing all kinds of buttons (it is a little confusing to set and use). After a few months I finally took control over it to test it. Within an hour of setting the clock to the accurate time, it is off by 8 minutes! Within a half of a day it is off by more than an hour. I've repeated to this test and had the same results. It's super, super fast (to the point I wouldn't trust the time it displayed within a few minutes of setting it).A great toy I let my kids play with, but it doesn't actually function as a clock.

This clock ughhhhh!!!!
November 5, 2017
I hate this clock! I just want a simple clock to show the time & wake me up. I don’t like keeping my phone by the bed so a phone alarm is not an option for me. Plus my contact lenses come out at night so a big display is better for me. This clock is overly complicated for what I need it to do—give me the time & wake me up. The description also is a lie when it says that it will change the time automatically when daylight savings time ends or starts—today daylight savings time ended & my clock did not change:/ Plus I really do not love the fact that I have to pull out the operating manual to make it do things like the alarm not coming on while out of town. Oh & today I have to update the time since the clock didn’t like they said it would so of course the owner’s manual will have to be pulled out again. I’m not technologically challenged but this clock makes me feel like I am. Today I ordered a humble, simple RCA clock. When it gets here this piece of poo is going in the trash!

Radio died... I should have listened to all of the people saying this. I really liked this alarm clock now I am really disappointed that I spent the money on it. I should have bought a cheap one at Walmart. It would have been more reliable and dependable.
Not recommended. Loses time @ 1 min p.d.
April 30, 2017
I purchased this clock as a holiday gift but did. It set it up until 3/20. It started to lose a slow minute. Today on 4/30/17 it is six minutes late, a loss of a minute per week. Unfortunately, the return window closed on 1/27/17.
However Sound quality is very poor Volume control at the 01 setting is relatively loud
January 2, 2016
You do not even get what you paid for !Chose it because of the AM /FM digital radio, HoweverSound quality is very poorVolume control at the 01 setting is relatively loud. when setting as a pre-sleep setting, it will keep you up. and the wake up morning radio Alarm - will certainly get you out of bed."programming" is less than friendly and intuitive. When plugging anything - ( an I phone to be charged) into the same power strip there is a strong buzzing and humming sound. so much for the digital sound quality. This one is going back!
Poor quality. Bought 2, both defective
September 11, 2015
Bought two of these. First clock, one the buttons didn't work well. Had to press really hard, multiple times, to get them to work. Multiple buttons were defective, although some worked properly. Second clock, more of the buttons worked well, but some of them also had the same problem where you had to press really hard, multiple times to get them to work. In addition, the Nap buzzer kept going off every 90 minutes even though I turned the nap function to OFF. The funny thing is that I bought this same clock many years ago (when it had the RCA logo) and it lasted a long time with no problems. These clocks (although they look exactly the same as my old one) are of a much lower quality. If one was bad, I'd say it was a fluke, but BOTH clocks I received were defective. In my opinion, that is no longer a fluke, but indicates very poor quality.
Garbage
September 2, 2015
I've been having bad luck lately with well-reviewed products on Amazon. I bought this in May 2015 and I could never set the alarm properly--it's one of those things with tiny buttons in the back labeled A, B, C--and you have to have the instruction book in one hand, reading which combination of buttons to hold 3 sec or push twice, while you do whatever it says with your other hand. Somehow I set it to 7:05 am in May and could never change it; sometimes it rings at 7:05 am and sometimes it doesn't. So I gave up and just used it as a clock--but about two months in, it stopped displaying the time on the ceiling. Today four months later, the clock face went dark as well. If you hold it 1" from your nose you can barely make out that it is indeed still telling time but the bright face (that some people complained was TOO bright) is totally gone. Basically I paid not a cheap price for a clock whose alarm never worked and which lasted four months.
