Great with a few minor annoyances
September 10, 2017
Pros
- you can plug it into your home outlet so you are not limited by the length of the lighter socket cord but by the length of your extension cord
- you won't drain your car battery or blow any fuses

Annoyances
- on/off switch is in an ackward place (inside the unit behind the lighter socket cord).
Solution: leave it in the on position and use the plug to turn it on/off. It will turn off when it reaches the set pressure anyway.
- bulky, heavy unit and no carrying handle

Cons
- instruction manual has some hidden warnings
- warnings about blowing fuse in the unit when using the lighter socket cord.
- warnings about draining car battery when using lighter socket cord
- no warnings about how long you can run the unit before it overheats and burns out

Because of the cons, I recommend you only use the unit using the household outlet and for no more than 5-10 mins at a time.
I was able to inflate a flat tire in about 5 mins.

Also I suggest getting a smaller unit like Slime makes that only uses the lighter socket and keep that in your car for emergencies.
50 pounds in a tire no problem
September 8, 2017
I have wanted a compressor for years, but they always seemed big and expensive. Then I discovered this class of tire inflator. Received the unit this afternoon, plugged it into 120 and quickly brought two tires on a VW camper to 50 pounds. I don't know how well it would work for tires on 12v, and that cord seems short to me if trying to reach a tire, but plugged into the wall it worked great.
Works great!
June 4, 2017
I have had 2 of these for 10 years and just purchased another for my oldest daughters car. I have read about fuse problems from people that use them with ac current. I have only used with D.C. And have never had a problem. They have not been used often but have always worked when needed. The built in pressure regulator works great. I always have one in my truck and also take one when we go atv riding as well as tire plugs. My daughters know how to use them and will purchase one for all of them to keep in their cars. Also there is a repair for the fuse problem on the internet if you are able to wire the fuse in yourself.
Pump works fast for the size
January 30, 2016
The air pump works great. You can plug it in to your car via the cigarette lighter or plug into a wall outlet. Pump works fast for the size. Great for household items (bikes, balls - pool inflation things) - it WILL pump a car tire but will take time. BEST feature is the ability to set the pressure you want and leave it pump. Turns off automatically when done. Set it 5 degrees above the pressure you want for best accuracy. Also you your own ball / bike tire needle. This does not come with it.
Simply awesome!
January 19, 2011
I was looking into this inflator because I was in the market to replace my 4 wheel and tires on my 93 Miata. Along with this I also purchased a digital tire pressure gauge which is by the way awesome. The first day I got it I checked the tire pressure on my roadster and found they're almost 10lbs under inflated. Normally I'd have to drive the car out to the gas station and struggle with the retracting hose, but not this time - this easy to use inflator gets the job done with ease. It's well designed, compact, lightweight, and very easy to operate. It did take me a little while to find the on/off switch the first time thou 'cause it's hidden behind the built in cigarette lighter adapter, which by the way is a convenient feature in case you want to bring it on the road.

Like other reviewers I do find the power cord short, but nothing a nice extension cord can't fix. Do buy yourself one if you don't have one handy in your garage and you'll be all fine. The air hose is a little on the short side also, but not a big issue since the unit itself is so portable. I will definitely buy again and again and for the price and convenience it offers you can't really go wrong with it.

Plastic But Works Great!
May 17, 2016
Great little tire gauge. Comes with batteries and is ready to go right out of the package. It feels kind of plasticky, like if it dropped from a high enough distance it would definitely crack or shatter, but it does what it says it does! The back-lit display is really useful, and there is a ring that lights up where you insert the tire stem, which was SUPER helpful when trying to find the stem in pitch black conditions. Also, it will output the pressure in BAR measurement as well as PSI. Apart from the cheap plastic feel, this is great to keep in your car or garage. I have to buy two more. One for the garage and one for the fiance's car.
didnt need, but glad i bought. wouldnt change a thing
August 24, 2015
i havent had mine long or used it a lot but i cant think how anyone could say anything bad about it.its easy to use, i love the lights, seems accurate and reliable.i only have 1 other tire gauge and it came with a $75 tire deflater kit so i assume its better than your average tire gauge and this digital gauge reads the exact same as the other gauge i have. much faster, and easier might i addyou might not think much of the lights, but i went to go to work and had a flat and needed to air up my tire before i left. i work nights and so the lights on the gauge were a lifesaver. i was in a hurry and didnt have time to find a flashlight or pull out my phone and use the flashlight(plus that requires another hand)
I'd recommend the TEKTON 5941 to you!!
June 16, 2015
This Tekton 5941 Digital Tire Gauge is a good, sleek, handy tool. I keep mine in the center console because it's easy to grab and doesn't take much space. It has a lighted led dial which comes in handy especially in low-light levels. The way it fits my hand is comfortable and it's easy to use. Best to pay attention because there are three (3) scale levels with PSI being one of them. I always make sure I am in this mode whenever I check my tire pressure. I prefer this kind over the shiny chrome looking pencil type because the led lighting is easier for me to read verses trying to read the tiny notches on the other one. It also fits much better in my hand making it easy to grip as compared to the "old-style" just mentioned. Last but not least, the price is fair!!
Excellent!

Pro's:i. LED illuminates tyre area and reading.ii. Readings are given in PSI: 0-100, Bar: 0-7, KPA: 0-700, Kgf/cm2: 0-7iii. Readings are displayed for about 10 seconds for reference. The reading re-calibrates as soon as the device is applied to the next tyre, so no lag time between readings.iv. The unit has an auto-off function after a couple of minutes, saving battery life.v. The measurement type, e.g. PSI in my case, stays set even after auto-off, so it doesn't need re-setting when powering up for the next job.vi. Excellent price and battery life.vii. Very accurate readings, as far as my own tests have concluded, and more accurate than a gas station air-line.viii. Very ergonomic, so easy to hold, easy to apply to the tyre, compared with some others I've had.ix. From what I've read here, very responsive and helpful customer service if there is ever a problem.Con's:i. Can not be used as a teleportation device or communicator.
Great gauge, very accurate.
February 5, 2014
I'm one of those that check tire pressure once a week so having a good tire gauge is imperative. For the past year I have used several different digital and mechanical gauges. I had issues with all of them. Few of the mechanical one's did not work well in extreme cold weather, also hard to use with gloves on and too cold to use with bare hands. Few others had issues with sealing the valve so it would not read accurately. Some of the other digital brands did not seal the valve, or the battery would die quickly (like every week), or it was reading inaccurately. I've been researching for the past few weeks on Amazon and this was the only one with great praise so i decided to try it out. As soon as i got it i ran out and compared it to a mechanical one which I have been using with frustration and also a friend of mines gauge (Commercial grade digital gauge) and low and behold this one read accurately to 35 lbs, w/o issues and the mechanical one I had took me about a minute to get a correct seal to get a reading and then it read 3lbs too high, 5 lbs too low, etc. Compared to the commercial grade gauge. This gauge is simple to read, easy to get a seal w/o much pressure to the valve and comfortable to hold glove or not. So clean out your gauge drawer like i did and replace it with this one.
Best I've used so far
March 1, 2012
This is my 3rd digital tire gauge. I like it better than the others, which were the Accutire brand, because:- Non-slip texture makes it easy to hold onto- LED light makes it really easy to use in the dark- Easily forms a seal with the valve stem to get an accurate read on the first try (this was my main gripe with other gauges I've used)- Awesome price!I'm not sure what else one would need from a tire gauge, so this one gets an A+.**UPDATE** As of 6/18/2013, this thing is still working perfectly, even though I've dropped it a dozen times. Also still using the original battery. Others I've used seem to drain the battery, regardless of how often I use it. I'd mention the battery manufacturer, but I'd hate to be accused of working for Duracell--OOPS!**2nd UPDATE** As of 8/7/2014 it still works great, and, no joke, STILL using the original battery.

Nice little air compressor
December 17, 2016
Nice little air compressor. Not perfect, but for the price and size, I don't expect perfection. Works well plugged into the car's power or to AC. We've topped off our tires quite a bit seasonally, and also when we need to pump them up quite a bit more for RallyX or AutoX events— which often needs to be done on site as driving too much distance on 40psi would be a bit jarring…

Only complaint is where the power switch is. You'd think you could just avoid the mess of the cord by using the AC, but nope… you still have to pull it all out to reach the switch…
Works great, only a few minor annoyances
November 30, 2016
I bought two of these, one for my dad and one for myself. I use it primarily to pump my bicycle tires. I bought it specifically because you can plug it into an outlet, so I don't have to deal with plugging a compressor into my car. The only two complaints I have are:

1) The power cord for outlet is VERY short. It is almost unusable as is, you will need an extension cord. I kind of understand this though, as adding a longer cord would make the storage area larger and the entire unit larger. It's not a big deal to use an extension cord. I only deducted 1/2 of a star for this.

2) The power button is inside the compartment with the power cord and cigarette lighter cord, and is kind of annoying to get to. Another half a star for this one.

As for my dad, his blew after having it for about a year. Looking at other reviews here, I see this is quite common. Apparently he just called black and decker and they (presumably because they know it is a huge issue) just sent him a new one and told him to toss the old one.
Works fine for car tires
November 29, 2015
This works just fine to inflate care tires (in my case a Mini) when they were reading a bit low - the unit was plugged into mains power and I checked inflation pressure afterwards and it reaches the pressure it is supposed to. Compressors aren't quiet, but this one is not unduly loud. Pressure is simple to set using the dial, but you need to be aware the pump stops when it reaches the set pressure, which is the lower edge of the indicator, not the middle.

Negatives are the on/off switch is a rocker located at the back of the cable storage compartment - hard to find and easy to switch on by mistake when stowing the cable, the mains lead is ridiculously short - maybe 14 inches? Probably better to include just a mains plug on the device and no cable. The valve attachment is plastic and flexes when you use it - I really doubt it will last long-term. Finally, the case is obviously cheap plastic, right down to the molded bolt heads - just unnecessarily tacky.

The bottom line: there are some design issues but it works just fine for car tires. It probably works fine for trucks and bikes but I didn't test them.
Convenient Portable Air Station but Needs a Few Design Tweaks
September 18, 2015
Purchased this primarily for use in filling bicycle tires; it works well as a small air station for this task. Have also used it to top off tires on our utility trailer.

Pros outweigh cons, including: (1) Multiple power options are a convenient plus. (2) Unit will fill to a preset psi reading and quit filling when the reading is reached. Very handy! (3) Easy to use, even for non mechanical people like me (with the exception of rolling up and storing cords in the storage department, see below).

Cons: (1) AC power cord is very short, you will likely need an extension cord if using AC power. (2) The end open storage department is too small for easily storing the cord(s) that are intended to be stored in the compartment. (3) On/off switch is located at the bottom of the open storage department, so you have to remove the coiled stored cord(s) before you can turn the unit on and off. (4) Rolling up cords to store them in the open storage space can be a pain.

In spite of the cons, this unit is nonetheless convenient and easy to use for smaller air filling jobs. Just needs a few design tweaks to get that final star.
Gets the job done
January 17, 2015
Compact, well designed overall, sleek and looks good in person. I bought it specifically for having both 120V and 12V ability built in without having to convert the 12V to a 120 myself. The 12V cable is of decent length but the 120V cable is laughably short, its not even a foot from the looks of it. Nothing a 10ft extension from a hardware store cant fix and I had one lying around. Wouldve been nice to have the power button on the top, its in an awkward location behind the storage area where the 12V cable is tucked in, so you have to either lift the device or twist your wrist in an odd angle to reach it, and since you have to power it on and off everytime you want to use it, it can get a bit tiring. Its not as loud as I was expecting, quite manageable, the adapter is plastic which is a real pity, I cannot see this lasting too long, I really wish it was made of metal, but it does seem to be sturdy plastic so lets see how long it lasts. THe display lights up (useful) when powered on, the dial sets the target pressure, but its tough to be accurate with this since there are no 1 step graduations, its 20,30,40 with markers for the 5s inbetween, wish it was more granular. THat said, it does seem quite accurate if you get a good lock on the tire, I went from 36PSI to 45PSI on my SUV and it took about a minute or two per tire, but inspecting the pressure after with a digital gauge the pressure was spot on. Overall for the price it is a huge advantage over having to go to the gas station to check when the tires arent quite cold (unless you have one right next door) and you can take your time and be patient about it and set it to the pressure you want, make changes depending on ride quality etc. I'd recommend this if you want to use it at home, but I think there are better 12V alternatives out there that are built a bit better.

Easy and accurate, no air release tip
September 20, 2017
Great little gauge, I tested it against my mechanical gauges: one with a dial, and two with the stick that gets forced out the end. This Tekton digital was easily the most consistent and accurate. I even tried holding it at different angles and as long as you get some air out, the gauge was displaying the correct psi. It measures in 4 different units, but psi is all I'm interested in. I only gave it 4 stars because of the minor cons noted below. I would still highly recommend this gauge.pros:Very accurate and it reads to the 1/2 pound in psi modeEasy to use, can't screw it up by holding it wrongLight on display and light on the nozzle, can see it even in the dark corner of your garageshuts off on it's own, no need to worry about conserving battery powercon:No air release tip (one of the sellers said you could hold the gauge on at an angle as if you were taking a reading and this would allow air out. I could not get this to work very well except for tiny little blips of air. It shouldn't be an issue for them to just put a plastic tip on one end.) This is a must-have for a tire pressure gauge which is why I could only give it 4 stars.
Great gauge - Suggest reviewing closely if for a motorcycle.
December 24, 2016
I bought this for my motorcycle, FJR1300, with stock 3 spoke wheels. This gauge is too large for easy rear tire access and with additional restricted access of two rotors on the front wheel, just not something I'll use. It's a great gauge otherwise and I put it in my car.I noticed a few reviews noting it was great for motorcycles. Maybe some motorcycles, but if you already have a tight opening, I'd suggest a smaller and/or thinner gauge.
Love the Digital Readout and low pressure readings.
June 25, 2016
This works really well, I was sick of trying to read the small numbers on the traditional stick type pressure gauge, so it is nice to have a digital readout. I also like how I can use it for low pressure and higher pressure tires (ie, my quad tires have 3-5 lbs vs truck tires at 35lbs.) My only complaint is when I go from one tire to the next quickly, I'm not sure if I am looking at the old reading or the new reading. I wish there was a quick reset button but all the button does is switch between functions. So I usually switch to off between each tire read or have to wait for it to disappear. Maybe its operator error on my part.
100 psi works well and does light up nicely to see the reading
June 9, 2016
This TEKTON 5941 Digital Tire Gauge, 100 psi works well and does light up nicely to see the reading. The size of the display is small but readable. It appears to be slightly off in the accuracy of reading the psi; but not enough that would affect a normal passenger or truck tire pressure. For the price, it is a nice gauge to have stored in a car especially if you are attempting to check the pressure when it's dark. I would purchase the TEKTON 5941 Tire Gauge again, but I would still also have a larger dial gauge in my garage as my main tool of choice.
Works as advertised.
May 11, 2016
This tire gauge works, like many others. The gauge is mostly plastic with a matt feel. It doesn't feel like it's very high quality, but not like it's going to fall apart in my hand. The positioning of the activation button is okay, like a trigger, but can be slightly awkward if I'm twisting my hand to fit the gauge up against the air tube. The LCD is bright and has enough contrast to display during full sunlight.I would give it five stars if the material didn't feel so cheap. You get what you pay for, once in a while.
Year later and still didn't die...
February 21, 2015
Year ago I've purchased this, so I will have one nearby in my vehicle. Well, it didn't get to the vehicle right away, so it got stuck somewhere. Today I dug it, after my dealership decided to put 39psi into my tires and was telling me, that TPMS sensors lie. So I've checked this one. Well, first time I pushed the button it started blinking. Blinking and nothing else. Let it stand for awhile, and pressed button again. It started to work as expected. Reading of pressure was same as TPMS sensors. So either they both lie exactly same (hardly), or both of them show correct information. In any case, year later and I still can use it. Will give it four starts, because of unexplained blinking without any explanation on the box what that's mean.

Okay but could be a lot better
January 25, 2017
This is geared for the 12V adapter to use in your car which in my opinion is a little bulky of a unit for that use. I wanted something for the garage to plug in to take care of balls, bikes, etc. with the unit plugged into the wall. The problem with the wall plug is that it is short so you will need an extension cord it not within 3 feet of the outlet which is fine. But using it that way the 12V cord is stored on the side right in front of the on/off switch so it is difficult to turn on or off with that cord in the unit. The on/off should be moved to the top or side. Also as mentioned it is a little bulky (not heavy but larger in size) so that leads to the last comment. It needs a handle or something to grip onto it better. The obvious place to grab is actually the cover for the compartment where the wall plug and the compressor hose are stored. So if you do grab it there you risk that compartment opening up. Nice compressor but wasn't really thought about in the design stage and for the cost and Black and Decker name I expected something a little better laid out than a generic compressor that would cost half or less of this.
Good pump with some flaws...
October 4, 2016
From a performance perspective, it works as advertised. It inflates quickly (faster than the 12v tire inflator than came in the trunk of my car, anyway) and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The auto pressure shutoff dial appears reasonably accurate, and was within 3 lbs of my measurements. The only issues I have with the unit are ergonomic.

The on/off switch is buried around the back, INSIDE the bottom rear compartment. It cannot easily be switched on from any any other angle - you need to turn it around, physically pick it up and reach inside the unit to access it. Yet there's a huge faux metal decorative plastic top panel complete w/faux bolts that has more than enough real estate to host a switch. The air hose fits in a very small rear compartment (not the same one) that is a very tight fit for a somewhat rigid hose. A better solution would perhaps have been to place it in a channel around the outside rim of the pump. Lastly, the fuse is not user-replaceable - if it blows you have to be comfortable with disassembling the whole unit and replacing it
yourself or sending it to B&D.
Poorly Designed But Works OK
August 1, 2016
First, let me say that from a performance standpoint, the unit works fine.

But from a design standpoint, the unit is horrible almost beyond belief.

First, the A/C power cord is only 1 foot long. This means using an extension cord for almost every use.
Second, the inflator hose is only a little under 2 feet long. That means if you have the machine sitting on the ground, you have to maneuver whatever you are trying to inflate to a position within 2 feet of the machine. Thus, when inflating bike tires, for example, you have to move each bike wheel to the unit.
Third, and most incredible of all, the D/C power cable sits loosely in an open cavity on one end of the machine. From the factory, the cord is nicely coiled and fits in the cavity. But I'm guessing that after it's used once, it's not going to fit in there anymore.
Fourth...guess where the power switch is? It's inside that open cavity behind where the DC cord sits. Thus, every time you use it, you're likely going to need to re-coil the DC power cord.
Fifth, there is no carry handle. You'll need to hug the machine to your chest to carry it around.
Gets the job done
September 4, 2015
First, the good:

1. It gets the job done - topped up my motorcycle tyres. The max I ever do is 46, and it achieved that without difficulty.

2. It is comparatively silent - I have another make/model that is much more raucous. You won't feel too guilty about firing up this thing at 0600 on a weekend just because you want to go riding all day.

3. The valve end, though plastic, seems solidly built and durable. A word of caution though: On motorcycle tyre valves, especially those which don't bend outwards for easy access (Harley tourer tyres, for instance), be careful to get the pump valve seated correctly, otherwise you'll have issues like deflation, no air being pumped into the tyre etc.

Now for the not-so-good:

1. The onboard gauge is hideously inaccurate. On my particular model, it is off (low) by almost 10 PSI (varies). For instance, to get it to fill to 40, I have to set it to 50. When you first connect the pump to the tyre, the gauge seems accurate, but the accuracy goes out the window when it starts pumping air; you can see the gauge jump 5-10 PSI as soon as the interior of the pump fills with air. This isn't a big problem if you can verify the pressure by means of an independent gauge though. I wouldn't rely on this unit for accuracy.

2. Unfortunately, because of (1) above, this means that you can't really rely on the cutoff function. Make sure to keep an eye on your pressure and stop the pump as appropriate for your own gauge's range of inaccuracy.

3. The power switch position is really awkward: it's in the back, hidden behind the coiled-up DC power cord. If you're using it on AC power, you actually need to take the DC cord out of its housing to access the switch. Also, the location of the switch makes it awkward to access when you're actually using the pump. This design could be improved a whole lot.

I haven't yet tried it on my SUV's mini-spare tyre which needs to be inflated to 60 PSI. I'll probably come back and update this post after I've tried that.
Really horrible design which makes using it very frustrating
August 5, 2015
Does what it's supposed to so far. Really horrible design which makes using it very frustrating. The AC power cord is only about 12 inches long so you'll need to use an extension cord for almost anything. Even if you don't use the DC power, you'll have to remove all the cord from the compartment in the back because the DC power cord covers up the power switch. The "feature" for filling to a desired PSI must be for absolute dummies that don't know how to use an air gauge. But it's a pain in the ass when you want to use for things like blowing up rafts, etc. I can only recommend due to a lack of better alternatives but really it's hard to imagine some design engineer thought this was a good industrial design.

Great Features - Comes close to Accurate
June 25, 2017
I really like this digital tire gauge for its features especially the light. The reason for 3 stars is that the PSI is off 5-7 lbs. I checked it against 2 other devices: an older tire pressure device (not digital) I've had for years and at a tire shop (digital). For the price it's ok- useful just to check an estimate the PSI in your tires.
Could be better
May 3, 2017
OK, but could be much better. The good. Easy to read lighted guage. I tested it against my other gauges and all the readings were similar. The bad. NO bleed valve and not even a device on the unit to manually bleed the valve core stem. Put together with two screws that screw into plastic, not a brass bushing. Thus will not last a long time. Has four batteries, none of which most homeowners would have on hand and would likely cost more than the original tool.I would opt for a different gauge if I were to order a new one.
looks like it's used before and no instruction included
April 10, 2017
Received the product in a box, looks like it's used before and no instruction included. Checked online and it's all polyester packaging so don't know why mine is a box. Since I didn't get instruction, just didn't know if I used it correctly. The 4 settings seem to be very easy so it's still pretty user friendly and the number came out fast.
Beautiful tire gauge, minor issues.
October 4, 2016
I ordered this because i am a car geek and i really love tires, of course that involves having the right pressure on my cars. The product is fine, i use it in PSI but the issue i see in this is that PSI are measured in 0.5 ranges, i know that this should not be a dead o alive matter, but you should know it.The tip that goes into the valve is plastic, it really feels very cheap, so what i do is handle it with care to avoid possible damage, for the price is a nice gadget.
Solid performer, but some little tweaks are needed.
December 15, 2014
UPDATE: Well, Amazon says I bought this product a little over 3 years ago. Worked great all that time until recently when the display (and the lighted ring around the valve stem port) started a constant flashing when turned on. I turned it on and off only to have the flashing happen again. I left it for a little while and then saw that it reset itself and I could use it. However, a couple of days ago, it again went into flashing mode when turned on. This time, I couldn't turn it off. Would just come back flashing. I decided to leave it to see if it was going to reset. That was 2 days ago. Still flashing. I wondered if this meant the batteries are going out, but after two days, I thought it would die if that was the case. Opened her up and saw that it had one 2032 watch battery in there, and three LR44 "button" batteries. I didn't have any LR44's lying around, but I did have a 2032. Replaced it, and there was no difference. Still flashing. Took out an LR44 and put it back in. No fix. So now, it's either replace all the batteries to see if that would do it, or buy a new guage. I'm opting for the latter since a search of amazon shows I'll be paying about the same for new batteries as I will for a new guage. I think I'll go with the Accutire this time. I knocked down one star because of this, and because as stated in my original review, I think the reset time between pressure readings is too long.Original review as follows:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Been using this for several months now and it's a good gauge. However a couple of improvements are needed:First, there's too long of a delay before the reading zeros out. I've counted 10 seconds. It should be reprogrammed to be only 5. By the time I take a reading, and let air out of the tire if need be, I'm still waiting several seconds for the screen to reset to take my next reading (I know some of you might think, "What? You can't wait a few extra seconds?" Well, when you're in the swing of things and want to get the job done, the reset delay does slow down your pace. You'll know what I mean when you actually try it.). I've discovered a manual way to reset by pushing the trigger down to turn the device off, and then push it again right away to turn it back on. That's quicker than waiting for it to reset on its own, but a little inconvenient. Don't want to prematurely wear out the trigger by doing so either.Secondly, Tekton needs to put a little nipple on the bottom of the handle so you can just flip the gauge around and use it to depress the valve to let air out. Can't understand that design oversight. These two improvements would make this a 5-star device.
Gets the job done.....
October 28, 2013
This tire gauge gets the job done and seems to be pretty accurate, but it has a few annoying quirks to it that make using it kind of frustrating. The first quirk is that to use it you have to hit the trigger button, but if you accidently hit it again then you have to keep scrolling through different measurement types just to get back to the PSI setting. I found myself hitting the button as a reflex every time I wanted to use it again so I was constantly scrolling through the other useless measurement types. The second annoying thing is that it takes like 15 seconds to zero out after using. Here was a typical scenario for me:Tire has to much are in it:Check air pressure, its high....Let some air out..... gauge still waiting to zero out...... still waiting.... zeroed. Check tire pressure, still high.... let some more air out, wait....... still waiting.... zeroed. Check pressure. Accidently hit trigger button....scroll through measurements to get back to PSI.....still waiting to zero.....Repeat this for 4 tires....Bottom line is it will get the job done, but it was pretty frustrating to use.

Inadequate Discription of Item
September 26, 2016
Black/Decker site shows this model as having a "removable" 12V cord, making access to the On/Off switch convenient. The unit I received has the
12V cord "hardwired" into the unit, making access to the On/Off switch quite inconvenient for 120V usage. I will be returning this item for that reason.
Designed by someone who never intended to use it...
March 30, 2015
Design is non-sensical. 120V cord is ~12-18" long and is stored on top with the air hose, so it has to get pulled out when you pull out the inflator. Power switch is located inside the back with the ~10 foot long 12V cord, so you have to move it to turn compressor thing on and off even if you're using 120V power.

Air connection is plastic and will probably cause the premature demise of the entire unit.

Auto shutoff feature is nice. Gauge is as accurate as one could hope for since pressure values are pretty far apart.

2 stars only because it operates on both 120V and 12V
Didn't last too long (used lightly)
September 24, 2014
This pump is relatively light and comes with an attached 120 V cord. The pump air hose is quite short. We apparently quickly lost the 12 volt optional cable (if it was included, I assume it was?).

After 3-4 years of using it a few times a year, it died. Maybe we just had bad luck as this model seems popular in general. I never liked the very, very short air cord. I'm glad it had the 120 Volt feature because we used it more in the back yard with bicycles using 120V rather than running of a car battery.
As a retiree I like it very much...NOT!
April 7, 2014
I'm young enough to like to bicycle around the neighborhood, but I'm not up to pumping tires manually. This works fine. Definitely worth the money. Except ...

It has a LONG 12v line with a car dash adaptor, yet in my 65 years I've NEVER EVER needed to inflate a tire via the 12v connector in my car. I use this to inflate bike tires...at home...via AC. The AC line is about a foot long, maybe. And the on/off switch is buried in the compartment that holds the mile long 12v wire. Forgive me, but WTF?!

I have to unload the 12v line (It's really long.) just to turn this thing on or off? Really? Not willing to do this I'm forced to plug and unplug the extension when I want to use it.

It works, but it is a PITA.
It does the job....but
December 31, 2013
I needed a small, electric inflator, and this one does the job, BUT, there are several things about it that are inconvenient. First of all, the AC/DC switch doubles as the on/off switch, and it is located in a recess that houses the dc cords - a real pain to get to without unwinding everything. The pressure gauge on top is one that you set to the pressure you "want", but it is not at all accurate - it was off by 15#. I had to set it to 45 to get 30 into a tire - so that feature is a nuisance. It is also extremely slow. On AC, it took 15 minutes to fill a tire from 10# to 30#. And, the power cord is REALLY short. Like I said, it will do the job - eventually, but it lacks a lot for being easy or accurate. It is still what I needed around the house for those little jobs and I'm not sure you will find a better one to do it - but it is nice to know what you are in for.

Not for me
December 2, 2016
Ehhh.. Display is real small and hard to see. I don't know if there is a way to change it but the default display is metric kilogram per something. Takes a couple button pushes to get it to PSI and the units area of the display is TINY. To much trouble for me. I'll never use it and I'm going back to the pop out stick gauge. There are better choices.
Not the best.....
November 19, 2016
I have this one and an Accutire, I feel the Accutire is superior, I always have problems getting this one "seated" on the valve perfectly and end up releasing a few pounds just to get a reading! Also, you have to turn it on first, the Accutire you just push it on the valve and it actuates automatically. The light is nice but not enough to make up for it's shortcomings......
Do not buy Tekton 5941
November 5, 2015
Gauge came and appeared to work. Problem is that you can't trust the numbers that come up. I used it to check tires on my travel trailer. The trailer had not moved in days so the tires were cold. It was difficult to get a good connection between the gauge and the valve stem. When the gauge does not connect properly you end up loosing air which changes the reading. I compared it to a non-digital gauge and the Tekton was all over the place. I them compared the results with a compressor and again the Tekton was right 1 out of 10. The non-digital gauge was right every time. If I had nothing else to use I would make do, but I do not recommend this item. Not reliable.
Worked well until the screen died.
July 18, 2015
I bought two and gave one away as a gift. Both of us love this little tool and it has been incredibly useful many times to us. If you buy, remember to just squeeze the trigger once. This turns it on and lights everything up. Any more then one squeeze will cycle through the different pressure units. I personally have no trouble with that but other reviewers have. Come christmas I am buying more for the whole family.Update: As of 8/31/15 the digital screen has started to flicker/doesnt work at all which makes it almost useless. I can't not read the screen as it is now. Gauge worked very well until this started. 4 months of once a week use should have made this last much longer then it has. Won't be buying more.
Very unaccurate-cannot recommend.
January 16, 2015
I bought this tire gauge with the hopes of being able to place it in my wife's auto and have her use it. However, the accuracy is so poor I wouldn't recommend it. I understand there's going to be differences between gauges of different types, brands, cost, etc., but in a comparison of six different gauges (some mine, others belonging to family and friends), this gauges repeatedly was the "flyer" in terms of accuracy. Example: on one tire measured at the same time, the other gauges offered values of 32, 34, 31, 32, and 35 psi. This gauge indicated the tire had 49 psi. Imagine what I would be doing to the tire if I lowered the pressure so that I obtained the recommended range of 30-35 psi; what would the actual air pressure be? My rating is not offered from one or two comparisons. I've made honest comparisons on different vehicles, different temperatures, etc. in the effort to find some measure of accuracy. I could not. On the positive side, I like the design, illumination, and feel of the gauge. I just wish it was accurate!
Worked for about 8 months
October 23, 2014
Bought it in January '14 because of all the good reviews (and the price was certainly right). Seemed to work perfectly for the first several months, but then I wasn't exactly using it daily or anything. Then in late August when I went to use it, I opened my drawer and saw the blue light was already on (half normal "on" brightness, though), and it wouldn't shut off (it's ordinarily turned off by auto-shutoff not by an "off" switch). Just tapping the red casing with my fingertip lightly made it reset (every black LCD piece fills in, like seeing all 8's on a calculator) & it would then kind of work, then tapping it again put it into (what appears to be) a sort of "loose wire" mode where you see no LCD characters on the screen.Replaced the battery and still no change in function. It'll work, kind of, but tapping it sideways (on the red part, not on the button) makes it not work (and the light never goes off). So using it now is a series of tapping it, then when done, tapping it again so it "works" and then GENTLY placing it on a shelf so nothing "taps" it again to send it into broken-mode again where the light never goes off.I wasn't rough with it or anything; it's a tire gauge so it (naturally) gets handled but not tossed around. Maybe if one was SUPER gentle with it, like it was a piece of crystal, then it would work indefinitely. Disappointing, since I liked it while it worked for about 6 months.

I would not purchase this item if you are primarily looking for one to inflate bicycle tires
August 2, 2017
I had the previous version of the B & D Air Station and it worked flawlessly and lasted 5+ years. I used it exclusively to check 1) car tire pressure and 2) bicycle tire pressure. I ride my bike whenever I can and could rely 100% on its ease of inflating the tire using the valve adapter. When it died, there was no hesitancy in purchasing the newer model. What a mistake. With the new Air Station Inflator valve adapter, once the bicycle tube reaches the proper pressure and shuts itself off and you release the lever to remove it from the valve it ALWAYS gets stuck to the valve stem and the tube promptly starts losing pressure. This NEVER happened with the earlier model. I have tried it on six different bike tubes with the same result. I have started over inflating the tires with the hope ending up with the proper tire pressure.Black & Decker ASI300 Air Station High Performance Inflator
Junk
June 22, 2017
I bought this one because it is rated for trucks and went to 160 psi. I needed a reliable air pump around the ranch and on the road for for occasional truck and trailer top offs. First time I used it this pump quite at 60 psi and it was done for good. It was a good thing I bought it on Amazon so there was no hassle returning it. I also bought it because of the name, well that is now a no go. I am also glade I was not on the road and had to depend on it.
Waste of money.
May 9, 2017
I camp full time and bought this to bring with me- so I have no box etc. I used it once. It worked great. Went to use about 9 months later and it stopped working. I feel it was a complete waste of money.
At your own risk
September 4, 2016
Stay away. Unserviceable fuse blew 4 months after purchase, on mild usage (regular bike, and a couple of car tire top-offs). Google and you will see complaints dating back 4 years on a design flaw which Black & Decker has not yet corrected.

If you like soldering, voiding warranties, and risking fires, there are plenty of DIY websites on how to wire up your own workaround, for $15 and your time.

Not that the warranty matters anyway, since you'll have to pay, ship and wait every time this fuse blows if you want B&D to help fix their "engineering."

Or, think of this as a $150/year disposable, and then it might be 5 stars. Who doesn't want a shiny new toy every 4 months?
Do not purchase this item
August 24, 2014
Do not purchase this item. It was designed with a fuse that cannot be replaced without sending it to a service center. The first unit I purchased from Amazon worked for about 5 minutes when I plugged it in then stopped running. I thought I had a defective unit so returned to Amazon for a replacement. The replacement fared no better. It worked the first time I used it then, about 6 months later when I used it for the second time, the new unit stopped running. I then went on the Black and Decker site to see if I could identify the issue. To my surprise, there were multiple reviews stating the same issue. There is a fuse that easily blows inside the unit that is not customer replaceable. It has to be sent to a service center, which costs more than the unit itself. It is also a very poor design - the AC cord has to be taken out of the storage in order to access the on/off switch. The electric cord is about a foot long so you always need an extension cord. I don't understand why B&D hasn't recalled this product.

NEVER WORKED

comes with batteries but once they die, you'll spend half the cost of the gauge to replace, not worth it. get one without batteries or one that takes AA or AAA

July 13, 2017
Does not operate as advertised. I need a gouge that reads low pressures and this does not. It is supposed to read from 0 to 100, I need a gauge that will read in the teens and this one does not. Sorry I bought it and now and I'm told I can't return it.
Do NOT Buy this
July 9, 2017
This item worked fine the day it arrived... I kept it in the glove box in my car for a few months and when I tried to use it, it wouldn't even turn on. What a piece of garbage. I literally used it once and then nothing. Do not buy this - it is akin to throwing your money away.

December 5, 2016
I didn't even get a chance to use this. It was D.O.A and all it does it flash blue and doesn't record psi at all for my tires -_-
No Reset Button Makes This a Loser
April 6, 2015
Unit will give a false reading unless fully pressed straight into valve. There is no button to reset gauge to zero. You must wait at least 10 seconds. There is only one button. Pressing it turns on unit. Pressing again changes units.
