Five Star Reviews: | 38% Good for the money! June 19, 2017 Great little compressor. Tank holds a charge for months, has not leaked at all. It is a bit noisybut what do yoiu want for the rice. Highly recommended! Does a great job May 14, 2017 this is a marvelous little compressor. Easy and does a great job and also becomes portable if need be. We Love it I will give it a ten Great Little Compressor!! May 13, 2017 This is a great little compressor for small jobs around the house or in your garage. You can't beat the price for this that comes with all of the accessories to make it functional right out of the box. It's the perfect compressor to have in the garage for any small job you may have that uses a compressor. Well worth the money and I'm very pleased with this purchase and the overall quality. Portable is the word January 20, 2016 Everything you would expect in a 3 gallon portable compressor. I bought it for portability, and it can mostly keep up with a framing nailer. Like almost all oil-less compressors it is a little loud if you're in an enclosed space. It does the job that I bought it for. Great price, good product March 16, 2012 I like to read the all the negative reviews before purchasing a product. After reading the reviews on this compressor I was a little concerned it might not do the job, but I took a chance because frankly I am flat broke and the price was right. I also knew if it was as bad as some made it sound, Amazon would make it right. Some negative reviews complained about leaks: I have not seen this problem. All I can say is unless you get a defective unit and if you know how to put thread tape on (supplied), you should have no leaks. I can charge the compressor to 110 psi and if I don't use it, the next day it is still at 110 psi. Some negative reviews also complained about noise: Yes, it is loud. However, it is no louder than I expected. The reviews made it sound like I would need ear protection to work around it. All I can think is that there was something wrong with their compressor, or they never listen to their music on 11...ever. :-) I purchased this for a nail gun. It does an excellent job. I get 40 or more nails on a 110 psi charge and it takes under 6 minutes to go from empty to 110 psi. The light weight makes it easy to move as work progresses. After 40 or so nails, a quick coffee break while it recharges. A great little compressor and it is an outstanding price. I don't know how well it will work for other types of applications, but for home projects, specifically nail gun projects, it is perfect. I am impressed and I give it my endorsement! | 70% Need a moderate air compressor for inflation and light nailing..... September 25, 2017 Perfect for our needs. Classy looking and a little loud but we use it mostly to fill tires and inflatables. But the recovery is very quick and the pressure very strong and best of all its a Porter Cable. A little bit louder than I expected but works great. Perfect size May 2, 2017 This thing has a quality feel to it. A little bit louder than I expected but works great. Perfect size. Nice look. Really satisfied with it. Don't forget to get the accessory kit with it so you can have blower adapters and other useful things. Great. Light weight October 15, 2016 Great. Light weight. Keeps up with brad nailer and stapler. A little loud, but a good trade for the weight Love love love it! October 15, 2016 This is perfect for any home! I have mine mounted in my garage. It packs a ton of power and easily blows up car tires. I purchased mine in October 2016. Instructions are spelled out very easily. PORTER-CABLE CMB15 150 PSI May 23, 2015 Compact, lightweight, great quality, we keep it in the "basement" of our fifth wheel. I only need to air my tires up to 80 psi and this works perfectly for that.Get yourself an extra 25' rubber air hose (and fittings) to go along with this and you won't have to worry about kinking the plastic hose that comes with it.Just remember it has a small tank, you're not going to blow out your sprinkler lines or run an air gun with this. For tires and a quick inflate of some pool toys though, you can't beat it. Great portable compressor August 29, 2014 I bought this to have compressed air on the go for our motorhome. I needed something small, light weight and powerful and this compressor met all of that. It pumps up fast into the on-board tank. My only complaint would be the compressor outlet. I prefer to have quick-connects on my hoses to the compressor but the location of the discharge line complicates the installation of a quick-connect as it would stand out from the compressor too far out. Even installing a 90 degree elbow presents a problem so I simply direct connected the included coil hose and installed my quick-connect at the end of the hose. The hose is not so terrible and the included accessories are OK although my air inflation adapter (for air mattress) came cracked. There is a neat storage pouch on the back of the compressor but it lacks room to store the included accessories.Overall I am really pleased with the compressor. |
Four Star Reviews: | 22% Good Little Air November 13, 2017 Great little compressor yes its loud but if you are getting this for nailing and staple gun those are loud air hose is terrible buy another one for this but other then that it works just fine. I've see reviews about keeping air in it and if you use tape they provide I have not had any leaks of air. The tools that come with this are nice I have filled tires and blown dust and dirt out of garage with this. For the price I think this is just fine for small projects and other small use. Good Little Compressor. October 30, 2017 It takes a little longer to build up pressure to full than I think it should since it's only a 3 gallon, but overall it's a good little compressor. I bought it for airing up tires on the truck and trailer when I'm on the road since not all gas stations have air anymore. My 2500 watt inverter runs it just fine. If you're looking for something to run air tools, this is not the compressor for you, but it will air up tires to 85 psi with no issues. For the money can't beat it, use it around ... August 20, 2017 For the money can't beat it, use it around the house for bikes, balls motorcycles, really to small for much else. Maybe a Brad nailer. Suits my needs June 8, 2017 Works well for airing up tires one at a time but probably not suitable for a large job. | 19% Nice compressor at the price. April 30, 2016 I use it for inflating trailer and light truck tires (70-80PSI) and it does so reasonably quickly and quietly for a $100 compressor. Compact. Fits through the small trailer storage compartment doors. Not bad for the money and size. February 10, 2015 Nice compact compressor. Keep in mind that the 2.0SCFM/90 psi rating essentially means it the compressor can pump 2.0CFM of air at the input pressure of 15 psi, with a back pressure of 90psi at the output. This means the compressed air output volume is only 0.28CFM at 90psi. On the bright side, this rating is actually slightly lower than the real output of the compressor. It takes about 5 minutes for this compressor to fill my 1.5CF tank to 120psi. good unit with a few small improvements needed October 2, 2014 I have been using this compressor frequently to add air to tires on my cars and bikes, inflatable toy for my sons to be used in the pool. I also use it to blow out leaves and dirt in my garage. It's very handy to have the unit in the garage. However, I wish that the hose is more flexible, and it runs a little quieter. Also, when it runs, the unit is kind of moving around due to vibration. No big deal, but it's just a little bothering. Overall, it's a great compressor. Review Update: I'm glad I purchased this item. It works very well and is just the ritght size for a woman. August 22, 2014 This compressor does not come with a trigger nozzel BUT when my husband attached one to it's hose, it made a big difference in performance AND I no longer had to turn the pressure regulator on and off, which is a pain (it should come with one). If you get this compressor, invest in a trigger nozzel (check the PSI rating of the nozzel itself as they vary) and once attached this compressor is everything one would need for odd little jobs. The pressure nozzel I have can't go over 90 PSI without a chance of it being blown off, but 90-PSI is plenty enough. The design is very good for carrying around furniture, etc. Weight is not too much for me (I'm a 59 woman but have always been pretty strong) and I like the curled hose in that it does not go all over the place. I used it in my dining room to blow out the light fixture and the hose reached just tine and did the job without any problems. I HAD decided to return it but now I'M KEEPING IT. Good for the price October 4, 2013 Bought it to inflate tires on our fifth wheel, pickup truck, and hitch cushion, and it will do that very well. Took only about a half minute to inflate our big pickup tire from 45 to 60 #. That's fast compared to 12 volt units and almost as fast as a gas station unit. This is a serious piece of equipment, but I can't vouch for its longevity. Have only used to 3 times so far. I'd like to see longer AC cord. We bought a 40 foot extension cord for about 10 or 12 bucks. The adhesive plastic sheet that covers the front and on which are printed the labels/descriptions of the meters, etc. is lifting off. This happened soon after it arrived. Minor issue but otherwise we would have given this compressor a 5 star rating. Great pump, bulkier than I thought May 25, 2013 I had bought this pump to use both outside and inside. The low dB does allow indoor use without leaving family and pets with ringing ears - but the device is a lot wider than I had hoped making it a slight more cumbersome for my beloved to handle. Which is fine- I didn't want her to touch it anyways. The parts fit extremely well and the coiled air hose has great range for sitting the unit down and then walking about doing your thing. The central dial is a neat feature which allows one to increase/to decrease pressure for little jobs where just a small bit of air is needed. |
Three Star Reviews: | 14% for the price you can fill a tire loud and ... August 23, 2017 for the price you can fill a tire loud and takes along time to fill the tank to pressure not too sure how it going to work with a stapler More like a squeal than others May 23, 2017 It is loud. More like a squeal than others. And it takes a while to air up. But what do u expect for $70 really. It will get small jobs done. Airing up tires and stuff. It is really portable though. I might need to connect the hose better but if its left over night it never has ... April 7, 2017 It doesnt seem to hold the air well. I might need to connect the hose better but if its left over night it never has any pressure in the tank. Wear your earplugs !!! March 14, 2017 I bought this as an onboard compressor for my motorhome. My tires take 80 PS. This fits perfectly in I of my compartments, but it is very noisy!!! | 5% Close Porter Cable, close May 5, 2017 Having lived with this compressor for a bit now, I decided to write a review that I feel better represents this product than most I've read.First off, it functions fine. That is to say it doesn't leak air, is quite portable, regulator and gages work, all as to be expected. It is not as quiet as some have indicated. This is not a surprise for an oilless compressor, but don't mistake it for the relative quiet of an oil type. The biggest issue I have with the little Porter Cable though, is it's balance. This thing wants to fall over, a lot. It falls over in the truck, it falls over on the job. The rubber feet form a much smaller footprint than the effective footprint determined by the enclosure. This, combined with a center of gravity that's just about over the middle pair of "feet" exacerbates this problem. Because of this one has to take extra precautions with as it is bound get damaged. Works well but too small. December 10, 2016 It is too small.Originally I bought it inflate my tubeless mountain bike tires and it works great for that. They I found more uses for it like blowing off saw dust of my miter saw and things like that. The compact factor is interesting but there is a not much larger model made by Ryobi which you can buy for the same price when on sale and has a 5 gal capacity which will greatly extend the applications of the compressor. You get what you pay for April 19, 2016 I bought this to basically fill tires. For that it works fine. However, I also have a Makita portable compressor that outshines this one by miles. If I was to do it again I would invest in something better. Crappy hose. Three Stars August 12, 2015 Does the job as long as plugged up but doesn't hold a lot of air for reserve Eh...it works. April 22, 2013 I'm working through a warranty process, I'll update this if it starts to work. The regulator valve leaks and no pressure can get from the tank to the hose. So far it's a noisy paperweight.Edit: I went through the warranty process with the manufacturer, and I recommend using the Amazon return if at all possible. Porter Cable outsources to local shops, and then the local shops ship stuff where they need to go. It took about 8 weeks for the shop to deliver, and by deliver, I mean fix it. I had to go to the shop to pick it up.I'm not using the compressor for anything trying, but it's been functioning fine since the regulator valve repair. It'll compress air up above 120 psi, I didn't check all the way to 150. It's loud, but unsurprisingly so. I added an attachment for filling bike/car tires, and I'm using an adapter for presta valves. |
Two Star Reviews: | 10% you get what you pay for September 13, 2017 this little thing is super loud and the tank charges super slow. but it was - and remains - super cheap. the air accessories that come with it - especially the hose, are complete garbage, plan on getting different ones Loud noise generator August 1, 2017 This is by far the noisiest piece of equipment in my garage. It sounds like it could fly apart at any moment. It must take some unique technology to get such a small compressor to emit so much noise! I cannot recommend this product. Yes it produces air, but it is so annoying I wish I would have bought a different product. Doesn't make much air December 11, 2015 Okay for inflating balls, but doesn't make air very fast. It is very noisy and takes forever to come up to pressure. Might be able to inflate one tire, but if you have several tires to inflate, forget it! You will be waiting forever to fill multiple tires. Very slow to gain pressure, low capacity and low quality June 12, 2012 It takes about 10 minutes for this to get to full pressure. Not sure why, it seems to leak air while it is filling, it could be made that way but once it is full it doesn't leak so I think it is just a very low power compressor. Use this for filling tires or small jobs but it will not keep up with air tools. Once full it doesn't take long to lose pressure when you use it. The first job I gave it was to blow dust/dirt out of my mowers engine compartment in hard to reach places. After only a couple seconds of good pressure it loses pressure and I have to wait an eternity for it to refill. I know it is a small tank but it needs a more powerful compressor badly. I would not suggest this product. Spend the extra money and get a higher quality product. Now I have to spend even more to get a useful product. | 2% Received this compressor yesterday and am disappointed at the design quality July 7, 2016 Received this compressor yesterday and am disappointed at the design quality. First of all, the connecting rod that drives the piston is belt driven, with what looks to be a flimsy cog belt. Second, the connecting rod and piston are completely exposed to the elements, only shrouded by the plastic housing, and the fan is blowing air over it so if used in a dusty environment dirt will be blown directly on the piston which would dramatically shorten the life of the compressor. Third, this unit shuts off at 135 psi, not the heavily advertised 150psi, and kicks back on at 115 psi. Forth, after only about 5 minutes of use the sealed bearing on the piston rod was slinging grease out of it, this will shorten it's life due to lack of grease eventually. This is not the design quality I expected from a Porter Cable product. I will keep it to inflate trailer tires while on the road, but I don't expect it to last long, if I am wrong I will update this review, but as it stands I am not impressed. So, So October 18, 2013 The compressor is okay. All the attachments except the tire inflator chuck are junk.No quick release attachment is provided.Air out put is marginal for winterizing a motor home or for air driven tools.I definitely would not buy this compressor again !! |
One Star Reviews: | 16% wear ear plugs, you will need them August 23, 2017 wear ear plugs, you will need them...this thing is LOUD, poor performing, and unsuitable for anything; (and given my years of experience with these things, should have seen it but forgot basic principles)...I'm throwing this one back before I need a hearing aid. Worthless! June 15, 2017 This is the second one I bought and it is as bad as the first. I haven't got 10 hours of service from either one. Worked fine about one week ago and today it is dead. One star would be too much for this compressor. Not a happy customer... October 30, 2013 I don't have a high demand for this unit, but do need it weekly for managing a non-profit's needs. It takes about 10 minutes to get enough pressure to use it and then takes just as long to build up as it's used. I spent about an hour this past week thinking I must a some leak somewhere. So I took the housing off and checked all the connections with soapy water. Didn't find anything serious, but retaped and tightened in one place where there was minor bubbling seen - connections are all solid now. Tried it again...no differences. Oh, and to those that may be wondering-- yes, when receiving the unit, I did as recommended and ran it free as directed to break it in. So, did I get a defective unit --or-- is the resonance with other reviewers an indication to the product's quality and/or spec tolerances in key compoents causing to work well for some and not others? I don't know. Bottom line, shame on me for not paying more attention to those that had similar problems. POOR PRODUCT February 7, 2013 Bought this to replace a devilbiss I had for 20 years and could barely hear run, boy was I in for a surprise got to have ear plugs if you run this close by you in the same room ( I do gunsmithing ). And it takes like 10 minutes to fill with no air being used, you get what you pay for these days.It will work for what I am going to use it for after I built a wood box to put it in to muffle the noise For I only need a blast of air for maybe 1-2 seconds ever 2-3 minutes which makes it run constant to keep up so no way can I see it running any equipment like a brad nailer and keeping up. Just makes me mad that they cant build a better design with a little less noise. very unimpressed February 7, 2013 I bought this to use with an airbrush gun for glazing ceramics. The listing and the item itself gives 4 usages and one is airbrush.. not the case.. It is Insanely Loud, you wouldn't think you'd care but trust me it's barely tolerable. It takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes to charge up to 40-50 psi and after 5-10 seconds of airbrushing it's down to 10 and paint doesn't even come out it's so weak... I agree 120% with other reviews that the hose it comes with is a joke, I bought a nice rubber one before it arrived and was glad I did. The hose feels like it would break if you bend it. The device itself falls over constantly if you pull on the hose at all. All around cheap. It claims up to 100 psi and I never saw it go over 50 and good luck keeping 50 for more than 2 seconds of use. Sadly I think you just have to spend another $100 or more to get something worth keeping. I'd only suggest this for bike and car tires. It wasn't even good for dusting my shop as the air runs out so fast. | 4% buy a better brand November 30, 2016 Great compressor. My dad gave me a huge 30lb compressor, it took up way to much space, was way to loud and just overkill for my use of just keeps my tires inflated during winter and just blowing air to clean things.I researched several options and decided on this one, its works great. very light and portable, however I wish i had gone for larger one as this cannot top off all 4 tires (Acura TL) on 1 charge. Also the power cord is very short, I almost wish it just came with male end and let me plug in an extension cord. Overall very happy with it.UPDATE3 months later its dead. probably used it like 10 times. Amazon is amazing and let me return it still. Porter cable i will never buy your junk again. ABSOLUTE JUNK! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! August 10, 2016 At 3 months old and only used a hand full of times the motor failed and started shooting sparks and smoke out of the side vent! While on the phone with the warranty department I was told to return it to sell for a replacement. Amazon will not take returns after a month on this product. Then they told me to drive it or ship to a service facility, both options cost a third of the price of a me unit. Don't waste your hard earned money on this hunk of junk just to have it fail in the middle of a job... Not working after 2 years February 6, 2016 Purchased unit 2 years agoHaving trouble with regulator - it will not hold air above 25 psi without releasing all air in tankNeed 75 psi for my staple gunWill call porter cable and see if they can advise a simple solutionWorked well before thisUpdated: Called Porter Cable. It needs service. Called the service center they referred me to, and they charge a $40 diagnostic fee. For an item I paid $110 for it is not worth it. Very disappointed, as I used it for under 30 hours. Bought this compressor back in August 2014. About a ... December 7, 2015 Bought this compressor back in August 2014. About a month ago (11/2015) the unit broke while using it. There is some sort of leak and it is unable to produce any air pressure at all. I only used it about once a month while I had it. Can't use to evaluate! October 25, 2014 Air Chuck broken. Not sure if unit is good or bad. Decided to order new tire inflator and connector set before returning. Serious QC/Design issue November 14, 2013 After reading all the positive reviews and comments, and taking into account the three 1 star ratings before I purchased this item, I thought the Porter-Cable CMB15 air compressor would be sufficient for my modest needs to inflate car tires and occasionally blow dust off of things. As noted by other reviewers, the accessories are very cheap, but I was prepared for that and ordered the Coilhose Pneumatics hose and a 7-piece Milton connector kit, which are great. However, the CMB15 failed within the first 5 minutes of use while attempting to inflate my car tire. It failed with exactly the same symptoms as Tim-A reported: a massive internal air leak developed inside the shroud, and based on the loud hiss of escaping air, the leak is somewhere on the left side of the unit (definitely not the safety valve). No way to tell without tearing the unit apart if it is a ruptured tank or blown regulator or failed internal hose/connector. Thank goodness it failed immediately instead of months later on the 3rd or 4th use like poor Tim-A. Amazon's easy return policy saved me in this case - I opted for a refund rather than a replacement. Beware of this model; I should have heeded Tim-A's review instead of all the 5 and 4 star reviews!2013-12-08 Update: Amazon received the returned failed product and credited my account. I then bought this air compressor from Amazon: California Air Tools CAT-6310 at just under $200. Yes, it was almost 2x more expensive and weighs a bit more, but it's extremely quiet, has a much larger tank, and has a much more reassuring build quality. I am so far very impressed and happy with the CAT-6310 as a basic home compressor. |
