The directions are a bit weak on instructions so it is difficult for people who have never used something like this before. This device does what it claims and works well straight out the box. This device had a sample pack of covers, back sheets and plastic spines. My largest binding to the date of this review is 224 pages. I like the texture of the handle and the darker color compared to my older model. It punches about as many pages as claimed. I use this to bind my 202 page book. Since I use the heavier 24 weight paper, I am able to punch 16 pages at a time. I also use it with the 1.5 inch comb binding spines, and it works very well. I bought a cheap one at a big office supply store. didn't even make one booklet and returned it. This one does everything it says it will. Punches through the paper easily. You can adjust the alignment and that is a challenge. Once you have it set your good to go. This is a great feature, it just takes a little time. I can't see this thing ever wearing out. Wish I had this 20 years ago. I spent so much money making presentation binders. Then you add dropping off and picking up. But, they may have resulted in a positive initial impression by potential clients (I'm a consultant) upon unwrapping that brown security bag concealing a bound proposal. At least, I would like to think so.Using these little guys, along with the Fellowes binding machine (you can find that here on Amazon too - something like this: "Fellowes Binding Machine Star Plus (5006501)"), results in far more professional-looking products (e.g., briefings, reports, and so on). It's a good idea to not only get the Fellowes binding machine, but the clear front and black back covers (like this: Fellowes Binding Linen Presentation Covers, Letter, Black, 200 Pack (5217001)). We've been using these for years, and is a great mid-quality solution when you don't want to use big formal binders or grade-school quality and unappealing paper folders, etc.Keep in mind that there are quite a few sizes, and I recommend a starter pack of sorts so that you can try a few different sizes. We've used them all and very happy with the purchase and quality of the products. Perfect for small binding projectsJune 26, 2013 I made some handouts which had a stiff back cover, medium weight clear front cover, and 8 pages between. This was the perfect size for binding them all together, with room to spare. I could probably have put double the amount of pages in, and still have room. The boxes came complete with 100 each, as advertised, and the price is way better than I can get at the local Office Depot or Office Max. |

Do your cover and backing sheets first to avoid having a 1/4 inch variance at the end. Make sure you have not moved the page from the right side to the left side in aligning pages before you punch them and keep it to less than 10 pages.If we had one wish on this machine it would be that the variance on it permitted us to punch something deeper and slightly longer.We are finding ways to consolidate documents and reference material that is better for our business and for clients. Other than running short, I like these sheets for their clarity, and weight. They don't distort the text underneath, and the thickness helps keep them from accidental folds or nicks, making the presentation materials nice and crisp. Many were damaged (scratches and folds) from the tumbling around the box. The actual item itself was okay, but reminded me of the transparency sheets I used to use on the overhead (desk mounted projector with bright lightbulbs) of yesteryear, which are actually cheaper to purchase as well.
