Thank you "Rodel from ASUS Customer Loyalty"
August 30, 2016
Bought this as a standby to replace my 12 year old Dell Optiplex 320MT as a spare if I ever have problems with my Intel i7 main computer. Before purchase I read all the one and two star reviews with responses from "Rodel from ASUS Customer Loyalty". Either he is right about making sure you download all windows 10 updates before you start using the computer or I just got lucky and got a good unit. I am leaning heavily to the former. I too, as many of you, watched as the computer was automatically getting its own updates, and when it had finished I was going to start using it. Then I remembered "Rodel" stressing about making sure all updates were completed first. So I went to windows update page and sure enough there were 5 more updates to download. It was then I realized that the first updates were from ASUS website and did not include the critical windows updates. I'm 60 years old and not very tech savvy so thank you "Rodel" for stressing the importance of the updates or I would have blown it. My unit is working flawlessly.

I bought this computer for my son for his birthday. I saw a lot of good reviews but not many about if this computer was good for gaming or not. First off, the I3 processor is pretty good, its not amazing but it will get the job done and is definately good enough for gaming. The ram is excellent as well, its not name brand but 8 GB of DDR4 ram is nothing to sneeze at! Again, it will definately get the job done for gaming. The biggest problem is that it doesnt have a graphics card, just the onboard graphics from the processor and it is definately NOT good enough for playing any newer games like "No Mans Sky" or any first person shooters. It is a simple fix to add a cheap graphics card to this computer and make it very decent. My son plays all of his games with no problems now that I threw in my old GTX 560 TI graphics card! Of course, if you want higher FPS you will want to make some upgrades down the road, but its a great starter! Obviously, if you are just wanting this for non-gaming (youtube, facebook, etc) this computer is more than sufficient! Just a couple notes, the power source that came with this was only like 300 or 350 watts so check the wattage requirements of the graphics card that you plan on putting in this computer. I had to drop a 600 watt power supply for my graphics card. Keep in mind that doing things like adding graohics cards and replacing components MAY void your warranty. Overall, for the price we are very happy with this purchase!
As a PC builder, this is an excellent PC for my dad.
July 25, 2016
Excellent PC!
Over the last 16 years I have built 8 gaming PC's. But this was for my 75 year old dad. So I'm not going to benchmark it, I just needed an easy to use PC for my dad. For the price, I could barely build one myself.
This is a awesome PC for the price. The PC case was surprisingly VERY light and cleanly laid out. I opened the case already and was surprised at how neat, clean & simple the inside was. Great job.
The mouse works smooth and I like the keyboard layout and feel. Again, simple.
Another surprise is that its NOT loaded with a bunch of crap programs! I was expecting to spend several hours uninstalling Norton and other unnecessary trial programs and there were none! It was Windows 10 and some ASUS functionality programs was all. No bogging down start up programs or annoying features. Nothing to remove from Startup.
A final surprise was built in WiFi. I was getting ready to plug in a cable cord and my wireless popped up before I could stand up.
What an easy to use and easy to set up PC for my dad. I'm very impressed.
A great all around computer that fits the needs of most.

I have ordered this exact system numerous times and have had absolutely ZERO problems with every one of them (total of 6 orders for customers/family). This system is well configured for the price and comes with minimal software installed. I have noticed that these systems must be updated so it's important to know that when you first turn it on. Here's some suggestions:

1. When first setting up, create your user account and go through the initial setup.

2. When you get to the main desktop screen and see all your icons, click the Start menu in lower left corner.

3. Choose Settings and then choose Update and Security.

4. Immediately click Check for Updates and allow all necessary updates to download/install from Microsoft. This process might take some time but allow it to complete and restart the computer when prompted.

5. After each reboot, check for updates again and be sure to keep doing this until no more updates are found.

Once this process is complete, start using your computer as normal with necessary programs. A majority of the reviews I see are software related (and likely user error) and give this system a bad reputation.

Now on to my review:

This system is an excellent value and is configured quite well for a majority of users out there. It's Intel Core i3 processor is powerful enough for many basic tasks, internet browsing, playing music, checking e-mail, etc. It is not geared towards gamers or users who require a lot of processing power. If you are looking for a machine to handle graphics or gaming, this isn't the one for you (and you probably already know this).

At 8 GB of RAM, this system comes out of the box with an excellent amount of RAM. The recommended amount for systems is 8 GB to handle all the latest programs and allow you the power to multitask without any hesitation. 8 GB of RAM combined with Windows 10 is a great combination and the system is upgradeable to 16 GB.

1 TB hard drives have become the norm in most desktops. While most don't need this amount of storage space, it's still a large enough hard drive to store all your photos and music. As with any hard drive, make sure you have proper backups of your important files.

Overall, if you are looking for an inexpensive system that is well equipped, running Windows 10 and is capable of handling all your basic day to day tasks look no further than this system. At the current price of $375 you won't find a better deal out there.
More about Amazon's great service so far
November 16, 2015
This is very preliminary - only been running for a couple of days. Seems great so far. However, my purpose is not to try to review this product, but rather Amazon's incredible service. I ordered Wednesday and received Thursday - PC failed to launch properly. After several calls to ASUS techs (all great to work with) and one very disappointing call to Microsoft Windows help desk( very disappointing is putting it mildly), ASUS and I agreed there was a fatal problem on Friday AM after one more failed attempt to reset it. I sent a simple message to Amazon and instantly they responded that a replacement would be on my doorstep Saturday. It arrived as promised with the only thing needed from me was my agreement to allow Amazon to charge my card if they failed to get the returned item within a month. In this era of customer service deficits, Amazon stands out. The second machine is up and running - so quietly it's hard to believe it's running. Fast, efficient, greatly impressed so far. Oh, I had another "lack of service" call to Microsoft regarding my OWNED Office Suite for which disks are missing - MS's answer ... buy the new edition. They are the antithesis of Amazon when it comes to customer service.

Great price for a great product
June 19, 2016
Excellent Monitor especially for the price! I have had no problem with this monitor in fact I'm planning on ordering a second one. I have it sitting next to an older monitor and it makes my old one unusable. The same with my laptop. I have no complaints it a fantastic deal on a great product.Decided to purchase a gaming monitor since i built a gaming PC. I went with the 144hz since it was recommended even though its pricier. Best decision i ever made. I played on my friends 60hz and it was horrible. If you're going to get one and you're worried about the price definitely get this one other companies charge for their name like benq. Great quality and best price for 144hz would strongly recommend!
Exactly what I needed
April 7, 2016
Exactly what I needed.I bought this to go with a new desktop computer. It's the first monitor I've purchased.Pros:-Gets going really fast. Super easy to plug in and go.-Nice, comfortable size. Nice improvement from the 17 inch laptop screen I'm used to.-Doesn't hurt my eyes-Games look pretty damn good with a nice graphics cardCons:-I had to do a bit of brightness/contrast/gamma correction so that the colors looked good. Windows has a built in program that helps with that though. I imagine this is something you should do for every new monitor, so it's not a big deal at all.- Colors change with tilt. Honestly though, it's not as bad as some people are describing in their reviews. The monitor will tilt, so it's easy to adjust. As long as you can find a comfortable watching angle (which could be achieved with any desk/table + chair), it's perfectly fine.Need a budget monitor that will work and look nice? Get it!
Great monitor!
March 15, 2016
I needed an additional monitor for work so I spend some time comparing a number of different monitors. After many hours of comparisons I decided to purchase this acer monitor. It was the right price, the right size and had all of the features that I was looking for.The monitor came packaged nicely in a typical box that a monitor would come in. It had plenty of support so that it didn't break during shipping. It was very very easy to setup and only took a couple of minutes to get it up and running. It has a number of different adjustment features so that you can adjust the screen to your liking. The picture quality is great, nice and clear and easy to read. I am considering purchasing an additional monitor for work use as well and looking at buying this same monitor because it has worked so amazing for me. I would highly suggest this monitor for anyone in the market!!
An Awesome Product!
January 26, 2016
I was really really happy with this monitor. It comes with EVERYTHING you need, including cables. The best part about it, besides its great resolution is the buttons used to configure the contrast, brightness, etc. are all labeled on the screen once you activate them. So there's no frustration about figuring out the right button to press. Its factory settings are a little bright, but, with the help of your computer, you can adjust it. This is a great buy, I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone!
Great!
December 14, 2015
My first impressions of this monitor were that it is *very* thin...like pretty damn thin. Which is why you actually have to use a DC power adapter to plug the monitor *in*. AND be warned, plugging the DVI input in feels really dangerous because of how thin the screen is and the fact that it's directly on the back of the screen, not oriented on the bottom of the screen. So screwing in the pins of a DVI cable feels like you might snap the screen or damage the internals, but, you should be fine.Overall a great monitor for the price. I'm using it as a third display for menial tasks and side projects to multi-task on, i have a main monitor for gaming and i wouldn't really recommend this monitor for gaming as it doesn't do too well with colors.Definitely a great buy. Would buy again.:)

This is a wonderful screen. The color and resolution is great on here, and it provides a wonderful picture. I have used it for my computer to hook it and have a larger screen to use while I do either projects with my cricut tools or reading homework etc. I did have to buy a cord that hooks into the VGA port and converts to the HDMI port in order to have an HDMI port so that I could hook up my Roku box to the screen and watch movies off of that computer screen. For the price, this is a great investment and addition to your computer and to use for a "TV screen" when utilizing some type of streaming device to watching tv/movies. I highly recommend this product to others looking into purchasing a monitor!!

June 27, 2017
I purchased this monitor to replace an HP 23 bw monitor that has developed LCD panel issues like horizontal reddish lines on the right side of the screen and image burn-in. That monitor was a 1080p IPS LED backlit monitor just like this one, but is a 23 inch monitor instead of a 24 inch monitor like this one is.This monitor handles anything that's thrown at it very well. Doesn't matter if it's a movie, an old TV program, games, photos, or graphics. I'm very impressed with its picture quality.I tested the Overdrive settings on both "Normal" and "Extreme" and found out it only results in annoying colored motion blur artifacts called "inverse ghosting" on the edges of every object in a game for instance. I found that it is best to turn off Overdrive and that when it is off, motion blur is really only noticeable when you specifically look for it and it doesn't get any worse as you turn down the brightness setting, even down to zero. The one negative about this monitor is the on-screen menu. It isn't as user-friendly as on the other monitors I own, but I know it will become easier to use as I start to get used to how it works. I only had to do some fiddling with the presets to set it to the "User" presets and tweak the color controls slightly to get the best picture quality. I feel that a less than ideal on-screen menu isn't enough to take a star away.It is possibly the best deal for a monitor on the market right now given that this monitor is on sale for $130. You don't see many IPS displays that perform well in this price range. I'd recommend this monitor to anyone who needs a 1080p monitor that performs well.
Much better than the others
June 2, 2017
Absolutely love this monitor! We have two monitors: one of them was this monitor, and the other was a crappier one. The crappy one finally died so we started shopping for another one. We went through two other monitors we bought from some classified ads, but neither of them could compare at all. The colors looked all weird and they had huge bezels. This monitor just made them look bad. So we ended up buying another one, and have been very satisfied with our purchase.I even love the BASE of it. Seriously, the little round base is awesome. It's so minimal. Unfortunately it doesn't slide up and down, but it does tilt.I totally recommend this monitor.
VERY GOOD MONITOR FOR ITS PRICE AND NO BACK LIGHT BLEEDING!!!!
December 1, 2016
This is a very good monitor for its price! I upgraded from a previous monitor that came with my Dell Inspiron that had Windows Vista LOL!. Very Old. Anyways my reason for upgrading:1) Using it as an external monitor for my macbook pro for college work.2) It connects to my xbox one s very nicely. Battlefield 1 and titan fall 2 looks awesome in this (in my opinion)BEFORE YOU BUY YOU MUST KNOW:1) the monitor does not tilt up or down.2) monitor does not rise in height and visa versa.3) the monitor does no rotateTo me this isn't a problem since my monitor is sitting on a monitor riser. However, if you are nit picky about this type of stuff, i recommend you look else where and compare!OVERALL THOUGHTS:1) set up is very easy! can be done in 5 minutes. Simply connect the circle base to the back of the monitor screen and you are done! Its a awesome monitor for its price!!
Nice display!!!
June 30, 2016
I'm quite impressed with these monitors. The bezel on the top, left, and right edges is very thin, making for an excellent multi-monitor setup. The brightness and color are nice, as well. Since I'm using these for a home office setup, I have no idea about their performance for gaming. Perhaps someone else can comment on that use case. These monitors are pretty thin and lightweight, and the power brick? Wow! These consume so little power that their power brick is super small. It's smaller than a pack of cards, which is a welcome change. Could they have integrated the power supply into the monitor? Sure, but having it separate does aid the user in determining what has gone wrong if the monitor suddenly stops working. Whether power supply replacements will be available after the warranty period is another question, but if you're like me, you've got a drawer full of power supplies with the same voltage, same barrel connector, and same or greater current capacity, so finding a replacement, even for testing, is just an exercise in rummaging through the spares bin.
Very pleased with purchase
April 18, 2016
I bought the 23.8-inch to use as the main monitor in a dual-montior setup. This is a very nice monitor especially for the price. I like Acer monitors and have bought them in the past for their price and quality. This was easy to put together with the stand, is light, and the colors are vibrant. I did have to do some small calibration to get the coloration to my liking, but it was very simple to adjust. I haven't seen any issues with backlight leaking or dead pixels as some others have. The only con I can think of is that the monitor is only compatible with its packaged stand for mounting, so if you want a verticle mount, or to mount on some other apparatus, this probably isn't doable. It doesn't affect me because I don't plan to do either.I am happy with my purchase and recommend!
Best display I've ever purchased
December 4, 2015
I purchased 2 of these a few weeks ago and have enjoying the hell out of them ever since. The slim bezel was a big selling point for me. They look amazing side by side.-Pros--Unbeatable price/value for a full 1080P monitor.-Wonderful picture. LED lit makes images come to life.-Easily calibrated or adjusted.-Matte finish reduces any background light glare. Looks great with room lights on or off.-Lightweight (only 6 lbs).-Best response time out of any IPS panel display I've seen (only 4 ms)-Very sturdy base.-High viewing angles.-3 different input ports makes this a dream for compatibility.-No backlight bleeding(a common problem with some displays)-No assembly, the monitor just slides on to the base and clicks in place. I set up 2 of these in less than 5 minutes.-Packaged very well.-Includes VGA cable, which I though I was going to have to purchase separately.-Cons-Not VESA mount compatible. (I knew this before I bought them. Didn't have plans to mount them anyway.)I will be purchasing a 3rd to add to my workstation soon. (see picture)

I would purchase from Amazon again but from a different manufacturer.
November 18, 2016
I just looked above to see the number of helpful votes I had... (484)
I TRY and never purchase something that would require a negative vote.

Hopefully this will give an Amazon shopper a little heads up.
I will update this as time goes on. A few suggestions nevertheless.
1) Check out very carefully so you can use the Amazon generous 1 month return policy.
2) Under no circumstances purchase without warranty protection. This will at least help with buyers remorse.
3) Be prepared for non english, very polite, ignorant support should you need it.
4) I just had a keyboard fail on my unit fail. I asked tech support if it could be a faulty keyboard.
I was told it could be and I should replace it.. AT MY EXPENSE.... ( unit 4 months old ) to see if that was it.
I was told they would give me an RA# to return the main unit, at my expense, and not to use the original packing.
I had to return machine to factory defaults... ( 4 months of getting a windows 10 customized ) . which did not fix the problem.
It gets more hair pulling but no need to beat it to death
5) The external warranty would have helped me had it been a year old.. since it was only 4 months old , they said , very politely
that I needed to work with the manufacturer.

Lovely... just lovely... 5 calls to Asus, 1 to the external warranty purchased vendor.... 1 month of sketchy operation... 3 days of working with Asus
2 complete formats of the machine to make certain nothing I had added had corrupted the machine. ( remember how long it took to initially
set up the machine?).
I am disabled so I had a friend go to a local store...puchase a keyboard ( both my suggestion and troubleshooting) to discover that I would have spent time , money, and aggravation returning a good CPU, that had only a failed keyboard.. that the manufacturer would only replace if I paid for it not guaranteeing that that would fix the problem.. What a mess.

Update// December 4 2016
I was contacted by customer support in email and by phone call ... I increased my stars by 2 out of fairness.
In heinsight, the problem was a #12 keyboard.
The replacment was on my dime.. no problem... kind of sucked only being less than 3 months old.
I had overall one EXCELLENT response from customer support female who diagnosed a bad driver for wifi problem
I had one lousy support due to a possible new employee who had zero command of english.
I am in the position to need another computer today and I am trying to decide if I should go with another....
Otherwise, it is a good, very quiet, great priced computer .
Perhaps it would be different if support spoke better english.
Anyway, out of fairness.. i Upped the rating to 4.
So far so good..

I got this desktop based on the good reviews, price and the fact that my laptop of almost 6 years was really slowing down. My boyfriend also told me that in terms of value/longevity, it's better to get a desktop than a laptop. Here is what he wrote me as to why to get this computer: "I think the ASUS would be my first choice (but have not owned one): the overall specs vs the price is impressive, 3.7 GHz Core i3-6100 is an excellent processor, the PC case looks practical and upgradeable, it is the only one that has WIFI, Windows 10 is alright, it is not refurbished and ASUS scored second to Apple in reliability per PC World." In addition to all of this, I went back to school for counseling and have to do all of my homework online - so, it's crucial that I have a reliable computer. I've had this computer for 1 week, and figured I could start a review on it and follow up more in a few months.
So, how's the computer doing?
In terms of installation, although I didn't do it, my bf said it was quick and easy. He really appreciated the accessibility to necessary ports and was super happy that the WiFi was recognized immediately. As far as the operating system/software setup, he was glad there was not a lot of crap pre-loaded, and that it was one of the easiest out-of-box to workable computer experiences he has had. Unfortunately, the computer has "frozen" about 1x every day since I've had it. This has happened while watching Amazon Prime movies, on my school website and maybe one other place. My bf believes that this is a software issue possibly with the Windows 10 OS, and perhaps not all of the device drivers are up to date for Windows 10.
So, I'm going to keep a watch on it and keep ya'll up to date with any potential issues and or positives.
Also, while using my Toshiba laptop (the one that was dying) I was experiencing problems with Firefox or at least I think it was FF. I was encouraged to use Chrome (I actually polled people on Facebook what browser they preferred and Chrome was the most popular.). I also edited and posted pictures..I hope they are showing up!!!
Good computer for a great price
September 5, 2016
This computer booted up just fine the first time I started it. I've read other reviews of this machine that have complained about monitor/display problems. After having problems with another monitor when I upgraded my older computer to Windows 10, I bought a new monitor before starting this computer. That worked very well. I think that people who are having monitor/display issues should probably blame Windows 10 rather than ASUS. I just don't think Windows 10 has enough drivers available for legacy hardware. Hopefuly Win 10 service pack 1 will address this issue. The only other issue I've had is getting my rear-channel surround speakers to work with the integrated sound card. Although the sound software says its set up for 5.1 surround sound, I don't get any sound from the surround speakers no matter what the source. Hopefully its just a setting and ASUS tech support can help me with that. Overall, I think this computer is a great value for the price, and plenty capable of handling home office and net streaming tasks.
Update
August 7, 2016
Original 2- star review: I bought this computer as a replacement for my 9 year old computer which needed repairs, because the ASUS was inexpensive. It seems to have video driver problems. I get error messages that the video driver has crashed and recovered. After scrolling through FaceBook for a few minutes, the computer freezes and requires a power-off restart. I've contacted ASUS, awaiting their response. At this point I'm wishing I'd paid more for a Dell or HP. (The keyboard doesn't have a good feel, either, but I could live with that or replace it.)

Update: I needed to update a program on the computer and I was instructed that I first had to update Windows 10. The Win 10 update turned out to be a major upgrade, taking a couple of hours to download and install. But the freezes and crashes seem to have gone away so I have raised my rating to 4 stars. It's a good computer at an inexpensive price.
Not bad for a everyday around the house computer!
April 30, 2016
I bought two of these for a home network. Both of my machines work fine. I made the decision to put the internals in a new corsair case and replace the power supply with one I could trust more. I also installed a SSD drive to run my Xubuntu OS.
This i3 machine runs as fast as a i5 Skylake with 16 gigs of ddr4 ram I built after purchasing these. If you want to speed your i5 or i3 100 to 200 percent, invest in a SSD drive.
It is quite amazing how much of a speed performance you get over a spinning hard drive.
For the money these are ok machines, but I will build my own setups from now rather than buy something off the shelf.
It appears most of the problems with this line is with the i5 machines. Looking at the problems I would say Windows 10 is responsible for many of the problems people are having with the i5.
My advice would be build your own setup from the ground up. If you don't want to do that these systems are reasonably price and pretty good overall.
PS: Update: Both of mine still work fine as far as the internals. I would like to make one correction in the description for the i3 version. The i3 that comes with this machine is the 4th generation cpu, not the 5th unless Asus changed the cpu version.

So far, so good
July 5, 2017
This does just what I needed - using it as a second screen for both my work (PC) laptop and personal (Mac) laptop. - I can alternate between computers using an input selection button on the monitor, and if one computer is not running, the monitor will auto select over to the running machine. The picture is clear and colorful, and it's a good size for both writing documents and doing Photoshop work. The only negatives I can think of would be the lack of HDMI connection and the inability to adjust the height. It is possible to tilt the monitor, though, which is helpful. All in all, for the price, this works great for me.
Great 1440p Monitor
January 25, 2016
Really great monitor. I've been using it for a month, and I have not noticed any dead pixels so far. 1440p looks great at this size, and I don't feel any scaling is necessary at 25 inches (some will say 27 inches is ideal for 1440p, but I rather like the pixel density I'm getting with this). The monitor is easily view-able from any angle, and I haven't needed to touch the color controls as it's IPS display is gorgeous as is. I've had no light bleeding through, either.I use this to play games, and I will also note I've had no problems with ghosting or response times. I've even managed to crank up the monitor to a stable 81 Hz refresh rate, so that was a great bonus. I had no problems connecting it to a current generation video card (R9 390). Some have complained about the speakers it comes with. Frankly, it sounds the same as the speakers that come with any TV or monitor. That is to say, mediocre, but perfectly acceptable to watch Netflix with. I think most people buy their own speakers or a nice pair of headphones for their monitors anyway. The one complaint other users have had that I will validate is the stand. It's rather flimsy feeling. Every time I go to turn the monitor on, there is a button on the bottom of the screen you need to press. If I don't also put a finger on the top of the screen to stabilize it, it will wobble a bit when I press any of the buttons on the bottom. I'm a bit concerned the monitor will outlive the stand (partially because it seems like such a great monitor that I see no need to replace it in the next 5 or more years), and I'm not quite sure what to do about that.Overall, I think this is the best buy-in value you can make for a 1440p monitor. The only things I would change is giving it a different stand and maybe free-sync.
Acer Monitor
January 21, 2016
This monitor did quite well for the reason I bought it - easier to read sharper text for my old tired eyes. My previous one was a flat screen analogue (not wide screen). The wide screen here makes quite a difference. I'm disappointed that I have to look at it square on to avoid a faded out look. I do find the simple up and down tilt quite adequate though. As others had said, it comes with full brightness. Turning it down turned out to be a problem, as all those little buttons underneath had me quite conflugerated. Tried to follow the instructions but finally got the brightness down to a reasonable level by hit and miss. That tiny instruction book is a joke - again for my eyes. But all in all I'm pretty happy with the monitor. (Durn it - where did that cursor go again?)
Overall good monitor for $89. If you are at all into photography, etc then consider upgrading to an Acer with better specs.
January 19, 2016
Lets face it. I paid $89 for this monitor so I could impress the ladies. And by ladies I mean my wife. And she's not impressed. But she is happy so I've got that going for me. That said....the negatives are the colors aren't very vibrant and it doesn't have an HDMI input. I didn't notice that last part before buying it. I ended up having to buy a DVI-D to mini display cable. Keep in mind it has two inputs (DVI-D & VGA).Overall good monitor for $89. If you are at all into photography, etc then consider upgrading to an Acer with better specs.
Good monitor but no holes for VESA mounts and no HDMI
December 10, 2015
Is a pretty good monitor. Biggest drawback is does not have holes for VESA mounts. Also the bracket with holes is about $32, meaning you can buy a better monitor with holes... for the same price or cheaper.Of course I just had the bracket made as I bought 10 of them for a CCTV security monitor display, but STILL.No HDMI means another $5 for HDMI to DVI connector. Again the monitor is fine but the ups and extras add to a better monitor for the same approx price. Also NO SPEAKER if you're considering using it for a cable tv/satellite display.
Great deal, HD display, colors brighter, but has little washout issue.
December 1, 2015
I bought this during black Friday, so I'm extremely pleased with the price. Regarding the product itself, it's Full HD, so the experience of showing two windows(left-right) concurrently and watching movies is very good. It's easy to set up, with only three parts. There's no need for additional tools to set it up. If you are connecting your laptop to this monitor, as I am doing, then you might want buy the HDMI-DVI adapter cable as well. The adapter cable is around $6, and Amazon has its own product for it, which works well from my experience. Yes, there is the washout problem as mentioned in other reviews. However, on the other hand, you get brighter colors when watching movies or viewing pictures. I tested the screen color display, and it's distinguishable even at 1% level (good monitor requires <=2%). So despite the washout issue, with the black friday promotion and the great price, I think the product is satisfying. I'm not an expert on this, and I don't use the monitor to do fancy stuff. So for me, the product is at least 4 stars.

Beautiful display
June 23, 2017
I really have come to like this monitor a lot. It was definitely a good upgrade from the LCD monitors that I had before. The screen is large, borderless, and produces bright, vibrant colors. Pixelation is hard to notice on the screen even with its size. Here are some things to keep in mind:Pros:- Large screen- Borderless trim- Brilliant display- The unit is very thinCons:- When viewing dark videos, pictures, or games in a dimly lit room, you can see the backlight bleed through the screen in the corners. For games, that really sucks, but I do like to play with my game brightness up quite a bit, so it's not such a problem for me.- There is no VESA mount capability.- The inputs on the back face outward, not downward. If you want to put this up against a wall, depending on the firmness of your input cable, it's going to prevent you from getting too close the the wall. I much prefer my inputs to be facing down to save space and look less awkward.
Good monitor but needs calibration for best results
January 24, 2017
Work from home, bought a pair of these for all-purpose duty. Color variation was more than expected out of the box between the monitors, recommend calibration with a tool like SpyderPro for a dual-monitor setup.Pros:Nice vibrant display with great viewing anglesHalf the border of a typical monitor - great for dual monitor setupsEasy to navigate on screen menusThree inputs (HDMI, DVI and VGA)No dead pixels (at least on the two they shipped me)Very little backlight bleed for an IPS monitorCons:Poorly calibrated (if at all) from the factorySwitching inputs can be slow (but this is picking nits)
It's pretty good
October 30, 2016
I figured I would wait awhile before making this review. It's for the 23.8 inch R240HY bidxI feel I should mention the size because Amazon has this completely stupid policy now of merging reviews for what they think are similar products, so you never know if you're reading the review for the product you actually are researching, or the larger or smaller model with may or may not be similar in reality. In my opinion this monitor has good color quality, blacks are black enough, it can be tuned to be not too bright/blue (although most people seem to love screens as bright and blue as technically feasible). It's great for gaming, the screen looks larger than it is because the bezel is small. It's very thin.No dead pixels (my last 1080p Acer had one stuck red pixel, this was ages ago though).I have hopes it will last longer than my last one because of the LED backlighting.Main complaint is ghosting or trailing when scrolling on websites with dark font and colors that aren't white. There's a site I visit more often than others, and when scrolling the text ghosts pretty bad, it's black text on a kind of blue/grey background and the ghosting is basically negative, as in it ghosts light almost white under the black text when scrolling. Hard to explain I suppose but even a literally ancient HP LCD monitor I have from Windows Vista era does not do this.Really griping I suppose and if you want consider this a five star review. I just don't give five stars unless I have no complaints.Acer is always a great value brand if you're willing to consider it might not last forever. Great specs and features for the price as alwaysVESA mount would also be nice, if just so that I could get a second of exact same model for portrait use as a second monitor
and I couldn't be happier. As others have pointed out
February 11, 2016
Before using this screen I had an old RCA TV that suited me for a very long time. Thought it was time to upgrade and snaged two of this for a dual monitor setup, and I couldn't be happier. As others have pointed out, there is light bleed in the corners, though how I've got them set up, and with the lighting in my room, I really only notice it in one corner. Unfortunate, but it's hardly noticeable most of the time and I'm still satisfied with the product. My only other gripe is that the screens ship with VGA cables, which at this point in time, are awful and obsolete. Coming with an HDMI or DVI cable would be fantastic, but fortunately those cables are cheap enough to find elsewhere. For the price I don't think you could do much better. They've got their problems but they're more than functional, and the picture is great.

February 10, 2016
Picture is gorgeous.Still can't figure out how to get the sound to work. It's been 3 days with no sound. I've gotten by, but the tiny little buttons, on the bottom where we can't see, don't seem to do what on-line instructions I found said they would. If you want a good laugh, you can Google the problem of getting the sound/audio to work, and I'm not the first nor only. There's even a YouTube video of some guy explaining by "talking" about how to do it, and several comments from people: "But, we can't hear you!!!!". I couldn't either!
Great monitor, but has a flaw
November 4, 2015
I bought two of these monitors a few weeks ago and they've been pretty great so far (aside from one issue which is described below). The best part in my opinion is the the thin bezel which is accurately depicted in the pictures above. In case anyone was wondering, the bezel (including the part of the screen that doesn't display any picture) is about 1/4" (7/32" to be precise).I was worried about the base not being stable when I bought the monitors, but the monitors are actually surprisingly stable. The main reason I'm writing this review is to warn people about the backlight bleeding that is present on both of the monitors I received. The pattern of the backlight bleeding is exactly the same on both of the monitors, which leads me to believe that I didn't just get unlucky. Under normal circumstances, the image quality is great. However, if there's a dark image on the screen and I'm in a dark room (when watching a movie for example), the backlight bleeding is very apparent on the two upper corners of the screens. This isn't a huge issue for me since I usually have a light on in the room, but I'm sure it might bother some people. This seems like a pretty common issue on budget IPS monitors, so I wouldn't rule this monitor out unless you find a monitor that you know for sure doesn't have this same issue.

WiFi Keeps Dropping Connection
November 13, 2016
Good PC with ONE exception, the WiFi keeps dropping connection, randomly. All drivers are up to date. 3 other devices on my wireless network function perfectly. Finally, I turned off the internal wireless connection and purchased an external USB wireless adapter and it works fine with no more dropped connections. Asus should reimburse me for the USB wireless adapter.
HDD ran 100% all the time!
September 27, 2016
So it's almost a 4star. But, its really just an ok computer. I had a problem from the start with the hard drive disk running 100% of the time, under all conditions. Startup was ok, not stellar from the beginning. But my Adobe Photo software and ASUS update software was freezing. Thought it was the software. Troubleshot an hdd issue that caused a lot of headaches and time. I'll leave the link that finally solved my issue. I've owned for 1 month now and I finally have a good working machine, but it was not easy.

Not bad for the price..
June 30, 2016
Not a bad machine at all. Spiffy enough for twin 1080p displays and all the internetting you could want.
I have to admit I was not so sure after the first unit arrived DOA, but Amazon came through pretty quick with the replacement and it was just what the doctor ordered.

I did have to go into the EFI/BIOS to disable some of the (not so) smart power saving features of the motherboard/chipset, because it would go to sleep and NOT wake up without a complete power cycle. Since then, it's been smooth sailing.
Horrible internet speed
January 26, 2016
Just bought this and got it started. Very nice except for HORRIBLE internet speed. Asus tech support claims it is my internet provider, but every other computer in the house is getting 75 mbps download and my new Asus is getting 1.8???? Virtually unusable. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so, has adding a different wi fi card with external antennas helped?

One update. I downloaded the manual for the Asus M32AD and it claims that the computer came with an Asus WLAN card with external antennas. My computer is configured with a Realtek 8821AE integrated card. No external antennas.

Second update. Bought the TP link AC750 range extender. On the 5G setting my internet speed jumped up to 57 mbps! Much happier now.
It booted super fast and didnt have any issue with multi tasking
January 3, 2016
The computet workwd very well until it didn't. It booted super fast and didnt have any issue with multi tasking. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks, it booted directly to the BIOS screen. I couldnt fix the issue despite searching for suggestions on the web or calling customer service. Fortunately the issue was covered by the warranty but I had to pay return shipping which is not cheap for a PC.

This screen is NOT made to be mounted :(
October 10, 2017
The screens are okay. I was trying to hook up my co-worker with a dual monitor set-up, so I ordered two of these Acer 21.5" screens. We got them in and set them up. I ordered a dual monitor stand separately so I could mount the 2 screens on a stand. ANYWAY, got the screens out of the box and set them up to stand alone, since we were waiting another day on the Monitor mounting stand................. THESE SCREENS ARE NOT MADE TO BE MOUNTED -- BUYER BEWARE. It doesn't really tell you that in the product description. I tried to save $20 by finding these online myself... and it cost me $200 because they are capable of being mounted. Boxes were thrown away that night by office cleaners, so I cannot return. Just beware.............
Monitor ok, but company's lack of good instructions rather poor!
September 2, 2017
I would say that the lack of instruction for assembling this screen base was disconcerting. The parts were shown but not how they were to be assembled...no pictures of how they went together. Of course I did get the base put together anyway. I am also not happy with the buttons for adjusting the screen to how you like it. No instruction for that either and after pushing all the three buttons, one at a time, I did get the window open, but it was confusing and did not seem to do much! I'm say that LACK of operational instruction is the worst thing about this product.
Great beginner 1440p with overclocking refresh rate but glare that can be annoying.
April 1, 2017
If you are looking for a cheap 1440p monitor that you can overclock the refresh rate then this is a great monitor. I manage to get mine to sit at 80hz no problem. There are a few issues though. If they weren't visual then I wouldn't dock too much from it but they are. I knew IPS monitors glare easily but I always assumed that the glare would come from something else. The glare on my monitor comes from the monitor. The position I sit causes the glare to show up near the bottom and a little on the top. The glare moves around as I move around. The fortunate part is this is only obvious when the background is dark and my brain eventually ignores it if I'm not paying too much attention to it.Second issue I have is depending on the window I can see the pixels when windows are moved. I tried switching ports, updating drivers, and etc.Thankfully this is only obvious with certain windows. The color of the window for Discord is perfect and when I move it around it's very obvious, but others it's very faint or I don't see it at all. If this changes in the future I will update my review.Do I recommend this? Yes. If you really want a 1440p monitor but don't want to shell out 500+ then this is perfect. Just don't expect the monitor to be perfect.
No VESA holes and poor viewing angles
February 24, 2016
No VESA mounting holes? Seriously? Yes, I know it's stated in the specs, but every other monitor ever made has these mounting holes. And this wasn't an issue until the person I got them for, decided later that they wanted them raised on a monitor arm. I had to spent another $60 for adapters, and the whole thing looks like a complete kludge. (Check out Gladiator Joe for adapters.) This monitor also has a horribly narrow viewing angle. If you're not dead-on eye level with it, it gets all washed out, or dark, depending on the viewing height. Contrast in a well lit room is also poor. It's definitely a $99 monitor.
Good for its price.
December 27, 2015
Very affordable monitor that looks pretty good overall. But the low price comes with some baggage. The screen is washed out at any viewing angle that is just a few degrees out of ideal dead-on. I had to set the monitor up higher than I had intended to because I couldn't always make out things like dialogue boxes on websites. Plus, my computer puts out the same resolution as this monitor displays native, and yet some text takes on a slightly blocky texture that normally only happens when you haven't matched output to native resolution. It is minor but it you are a perfectionist than you have no business looking at this monitor.
Bad viewing angles, but it works
December 17, 2015
I bought this for $69.99 over Black Friday weekend as a second monitor. For the price I got it for, I guess I don't mind how shitty the monitor is. The screen has really really bad viewing angles. Moving my head half an inch in any irection changes how washed out the screen looks. I may also have gotten some light bleed on the bottom side of the screen. Currently it's selling for $89.99, definitely don't think it's worth that.My main monitor is an Acer H226HQL bid, and the side-by-side comparison really makes this monitor look bad. Colors look washed out, I tried playing with color calibration and brightness/contrast, doesn't really help. Only time this monitor looks similar to the main monitor is when my eye level is near my table, so maybe I just gotta tilt it upwards.Ugh. I think I might try to sell this on craigslist or something.p.s. will try to remember to upload photos

Good value
October 27, 2017
This monitor is 100% used for console gaming on a PS4 and was purchased to replace a S24E390HL my wife dropped during a move. After a few sessions my observations are as follows: The vertical viewing angles are horrible for an IPS monitor which is surprising but is fine when sitting in front of it. Light bleed is a little higher than the Samsung and while it’s not unacceptable its approaching it. The monitor doesn’t seem to auto-off but I need to double check that. With all this said performance is about the same as the highly rated Samsung which is most important so 3 stars it is.
Great monitor for the price
August 25, 2017
Great monitor for the price. Size is excellent for personal desk use and the picture quality and clarity is phenomenal. The color is rich and the reaction of the screen is faster than the eye can see. The only gripe I have with it is that there isn't an on-board audio system (you have to buy speakers). That isn't the fault of the screen, but rather a failure on my part to pay closer attention to the description. Despite that, having come from a monitor that was just as sharp with a built in audio system, I was a little disappointed.

the monitor has the connection ports (VGA and HDMI) I wanted and some nice-to-have features like IPS. Also the price seems reaso
April 6, 2017
My monitor needs are basic: I use standard office applications; no gaming, video production, etc. My 7-year Samsung monitor just bit the dust. I am not a techy, but I am decent at reading and understanding directions and set-up.On the positive side, the monitor has the connection ports (VGA and HDMI) I wanted and some nice-to-have features like IPS. Also the price seems reasonable. On the negative side;1. The monitor controls are on the bottom of the monitor screen, not in front, and they aren't marked as to their individual functions.2. The Quick Start guide is very minimal and if you want enough information to adjust even simple features (e.g. brightness or contrast) you need to look for and download the user manual (why couldn't they provide the web address to it in the Quick Start Guide?).3. However, the most frustrating part is that even with the 28-page user manual, the information for making adjustments is very sketchy and incomplete with critical information missing. I had to try multiple times to figure out how to make simple adjustments.4. The monitor base seems a little cheap/weak to me and required a little tapping with a rubber mallet to put together. These issues are probably not enough for me to return the monitor, but they are annoying and I wish I had picked a different monitor (this was an Amazon recommendation). Now I really appreciate the user-friendliness of my old Samsung monitor!
dr This is a great monitor if you are looking for an ok IPS ...
January 5, 2017
tl;dr This is a great monitor if you are looking for an ok IPS display for dirt cheap, but don't expect anything to be high quality. This is a great monitor for dirt cheap. However, without using pricey color calibration tools, it's hard to trust the color out of the box. I did my best to calibrate using free tools and eyeballing it, as I'm not super picky. Other than that, colors look good, but color depth leaves a bit to be desired. Compared to a similar, but more expensive, Dell monitor, there appears to be a lot more banding in gradients that are smooth on the Dell. As far as I am aware, these are both using 6-bit + FRC, the Dell just seemed to do it better.Response times are decent, and casual gaming is just fine. The stand is one of its biggest downfalls. It's relatively sturdy, but offers very little tilt and no height adjustment. There is also no support for Vesa mount, but as long as you know that, you wouldn't buy it if you need Vesa support.Mine came with one dead pixel, but it doesn't bother me. As one of two monitors that I've ever purchased that came with a dead pixel, however, it does make me question Acer's QA.

Very erratic internet connection
July 4, 2017
This computer started out strong, but the internet adapter has become very erratic. Now (one year into its two-year warranty) it will hold the internet connection for only five minutes before I need to restart the computer. I have been in touch with ASUS and followed their instructions to reinstall the drivers, but the problem continues. Now they want me--at considerable inconvenience--to send it in for repair. I feel stuck in a place where I do not want to be.
Great, unless you want to use any peripherals.
February 11, 2017
For the first four months, this computer was great. Decently quick, capable of playing most games, and cooperative- albeit somewhat sluggish- at video encoding.

However, yesterday when I plugged in a new monitor, that changed.

I got the dreaded BSOD, and after eight hours of negotiating between safe mode and BIOS and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, the PC was bricked. Even a factory restore didn't fix it.

Apparently, the issue has something to do with display drivers. I'm not sure if the blame here falls on ASUS or Microsoft, but either way, a PC shouldn't be rendered useless by simply plugging in a monitor.

In addition, I never liked the fact that it only had one HDMI output. If you're going to be hooking it up to a dual monitor setup, or a monitor and a TV, that just isn't convenient.
Dog. Not for serious minded computer people...
September 25, 2016
I'm so unhappy with this computer. I'm a graphic artist and this should work fine with Photoshop...not. Or video games. I'm a designer in the MMO Second Life and this computer freezes if I open another program or if a sim is laggy forcing hard boots. EVEN before I put a video card into my older system, this did not happen. I'm going to send it back and keep the monitor. It's just a sad joke for me. I'm not well enough to dilly-dally around like this. I'm not going to bother with customer service after reading all this EVEN though I bought the warrenty.

July 7, 2016
About the Purchase: Bought like new on sale through Amazon Warehouse Deals.

Pros: It was relatively fast for an i3. Keyboard and mouse felt solid and of better quality than the mid level Logitech. The PC is surprisingly lighter than it looks. Still had that new smell. Amazon's amazing customer service and return policy.

Cons: Blue screen and crash within 2 minutes of my second startup. Repeated blue screen and restarting with a new error each time. Unfortunately no help from Asus on the issues.

No VESA Holes Ugh.
May 10, 2017
Was really disappointed that this monitor didn't have VESA holes. While the description did say VESA mount sold separately, I didn't realize that it didn't have any VESA holes to attach the mount to. So I bought this monitor and a VESA mount only to realize that I needed a special VESA adapter for this monitor to mount it to a VESA Compatible mount ( The VESA Adapter is ugly). For those only interested in the monitor, the screen itself is great and I don't have any problems with it and would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. I would recommend a bigger monitor for those that can get one, but for the size and price of this monitor it is really good. Home owners should find this monitor great. Business users, I would recommend buying one with VESA holes so you have the option of mounting it properly.
The Low End
April 18, 2017
These monitors are pretty low quality (washed out blacks and blown out whites), so there's really no way to recover the color saturation quality due to how cheapy they are.Tasks this monitor is good for:Browsing the webTasks this monitor is not good for:Watching moviesGraphic designWeb developmentAnything that requires color accuracyI looked for help online that would tell me how to correct the color, but I couldn't find anything. If you're just wanting a monitor for the sake of having a monitor, this definitely works. However, if you do any sort of design, development, graphic design or any other task that needs color quality, I wouldn't recommend this monitor.I gave it 2 stars, because I don't think this monitor is meant to be great, but it's definitely priced out of its category. I'd recommend a $99.00 price tag for a monitor like this.
Got the job done for a few months.
May 30, 2016
Viewing angles are terrible, and color reproduction is mediocre at best. I wanted to love this monitor, but I've just had to sell it to upgrade to the HP Pavilion 25xw, and couldn't be happier with the decision. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on something better. If you don't know about IPS (like I didn't), do yourself a favor and read about it BEFORE assuming you're getting an awesome deal. You'll be disappointed if you try to look at this monitor at any angle other than a dead-on shot (or close to it).
Uneven brightness & contrast from top to bottom
May 15, 2016
Uneven brightness & contrast from top to bottom. Got it today and tinkered with adjustments, I'm very familiar with monitors and I have an Acer I like, but THIS one's going back on day 1. The top third of the monitor is great. It has the right amount of contrast and rich colors. The middle is a little flat and the bottom third of the monitor is unacceptably flat and "blown out" bright. This has nothing to do with viewing angle or monitor adjustments. This monitor is simply uneven in brightness and contrast from top to bottom.
There are better options for just a bit more
March 4, 2016
Bought the 21.5-inch model (G226HQL) to add a display to my early 2008 iMac. Works with the mini-DVI to DVI adapter. Unfortunately, the backlight bleed is just terrible. Viewing angle is such that if you aren't perfectly in the sweet spot, blacks will quickly turn to gray. It's so bad I'm wondering if this is a defective monitor.Either way, it is being returned in favor of Acer's H226HQL. What a difference. Nice, inky blacks and crystal clear text. Viewing angle is fantastic. In fact, it is a significant improvement over the iMac's screen (which has aged well). If you can spare a bit extra, I very much recommend getting the H226HQL over the G226HQL. The only potential drawback is the H226HQL has a glossy screen. I'm used to it (iMac is the same), but for those operating in bright spaces and viewing dark material, consider something else (though not the H226HQL...it's bad).
Looks good only at certain angles. And that's annoying.
January 19, 2016
The polarization on the screen is just terrible. I always have to sit at a specific angle in order to see true colors - but also with that in mind, because it's a large screen, some areas will be true-colored, and the other side will still look polarized. This is an awful detriment to someone either working with design (like myself), or even as simple as wanting to sit back and watch a movie (I sit in one position, it's fine.. turn to my other side, the coloring is absolutely off). Also, I know the description said it had no HDMI ports, so I went into it fully aware - but the input options are still very lacking. Everyone else is commenting on the tilt, and I have to say- it is a problem for me as well. Even though it is doable, it isn't convenient, and having to constantly adjust because of the polarization makes this monitor too much work for its worth. Two stars because of the price, and because it actually works. But I'm probably going to sell this soon.

Severely Disappointed
March 28, 2017
Bought this monitor to replace my 2013 22" Viewsonic which wobbled when I typed. A new monitor stand was $40 and a new monitor was $120, so I decided to just upgrade my monitor and get this Acer.Unfortunately, I discovered to my great disappointment that this monitor wobbles a fair amount during typing as well. So the purpose of purchasing this monitor is defeated. As for the picture quality - The brightness and contrast are dialed all the way up to gazillion. I had to drop them to 40/40 just to get a halfway decent viewing experience. Furthermore, despite all the fidgeting with the monitor settings, I couldn't get this monitor to display as well as my 2013 Viewsonic! The only pro is the value for money that you get. I believe this is the best priced IPS LED monitor in the market right now. But I'd advise you to spend a little more and go with some other brand.
Wouldn't buy it again
February 2, 2017
It's a good monitor but I've already had issues with it and had to send back for maintenance. Which was handled but it was annoying that I had to that within months of purchase. It also blinks a great deal for several minutes after turning on. It's possible I got a bad one out of the bunch, but I wouldn't buy it again
Poor video performance and lackluster static image.
May 23, 2016
I do not understand why there are so many positive reviews on this monitor. Very dissapointed. After spending much time trying to adjust I have upped my rating to 2 stars.
nothing like most reviews implied
April 13, 2016
I bought two of these monitors. The blacks are so washed out, makes text reading tough. I tried to adjust the brightness down but there was no effect on the blacks. Even in a bright room you can see the screen bleed, nothing like most reviews implied. Really disappointed in this model monitor and would not recommend it. Replaced them with a BenQ model with VA screen type instead of IPS, way better blacks and super nice colors.
Good monitor, Acer, as well as other monitor manufacturer's need to improve quality control.
January 2, 2016
Let me just start by saying this monitor in terms of price and image quality is very good. It's got nice viewing angles, a bright/vivid picture with nice colors, all three display ports/audio jack etc... it's a matte finish too which is great for people who have keyboards that light up as it won't reflect onto the monitor itself like my last Acer H236HL did with the glossy mirror finish. That being said, this is my 3rd Acer monitor in a row that has shipped with exactly one dead pixel somewhere on the screen. The first one, an Acer H236HL from Best Buy, came with a dead pixel on the upper left of the screen and since I purchased that at Best Buy, I was out of the 14 day return window. I then decided to give Acer a second shot with this R240HY model since it hit all the check points I was currently looking for a monitor mentioned above as the glossy screen of the H236HL was a big hindrance in any area with light coming in. After a day of using it I did a dead pixel test against red, green, blue, white and black backgrounds and against blue backgrounds it had a dead pixel right near the center of the screen. As usual Amazon was great with the replacement without hassle. Unfortunately my second monitor came with a defect on the upper left. A black dot was now present on the upper left of my screen across all colored backgrounds. I contacted Amazon and they've offered me a refund but no further replacement which is still great service by them as this is completely on Acer and not them.I really liked this monitor overall but I can't let a 3rd dead pixel in a row slide from the same manufacturer and will probably have to look for alternatives. Unfortunately a lot of people easily overlook a dead pixel or two, or simply never notice them but I find even one dead pixel a complete failure on the manufacturer's part and I will inspect every background on a newly purchased monitor. Note: if you go through Acer RMA, they consider 10 dead pixels acceptable on 1080P screens and 16 acceptable on 2K screens, so keep that in mind when shopping with them.In conclusion, it's a shame because I really wanted to keep this monitor as the image quality for the price is superb, but it's pretty obvious where they cut corners to keep the prices down. I urge all of you to do a simple dead pixel test online after a few days of owning a new monitor as you're entitled to a brand new product without manufacturing defects.
Pixels creating a "smudge" mark with blue tint
December 20, 2015
It may just be a faulty one, but in under 24 hours my monitor already has discolouring around the middle of the screen. It's a noticeable blue smudge mark that is definitely there when the screen is supposed to be white. It's not just my eyes. I have taken out the HDMI cable that I use, from my computer and monitor, and swapped ports. I have tried configuring the screen tint and it's still there, turning it off and back on. It's a nice screen other than this issue, but I'm not going to buy another one of these again. The cost isn't worth the risk of it happening again. If anyone else has this issue and has fixed it, please let me know.

Had it 6 months less than 100 hrs on it. Only did my 2016 taxes,.was still using my vista computer.
Pushed the start button and it made a loud snap never started again. ASUS wants me to sent in in at my expense to get a refurbish computer back, probably with 1000s of hrs on it. Going to BBB and file a complaint
Don't Buy It
October 31, 2016
Since 1995 I have spent thousands of dollars on Amazon and been satisfied with all of them, until this one. Although I had intended to buy a HP, which I had used for years, Amazon's strong endorsement, convinced me to choose this one. What a terrible decision!
From the start it was difficult to use, but beyond that, often it would just stop working. The lights were on, everything looked fine but it would not boot up. This happened many times over the two years. I would then call ASUS and they would walk me through the steps to start it. However, on the last call, they said they couldn't help because there was 'hardware' problem. Last week I had it examined by a technician who found the motherboard irretrievably defective.

Because of these problems, I never used it as my prime PC, as I had intended, but had to continue using my old HP PC. In short, I spent over $350 for nothing
Not working properly, keeps getting stuck in just about every process
September 24, 2016
Not working properly, keeps getting stuck in just about every process; like installing software, opening settings menus, restarting is taking for ever and the goes to blue screen with message about error.. Called Asus tech support and their only advice was to restore to default settings. Well now I'm trying to do a restore and it's stuck in that process too. I already requested a replacement from Amazon and it's shipping Monday, so lets see how that one goes. But so far this has been a big setback for the new store we just opened.. The ironic thing about it is that this is the first non off lease or refurbished computer I have bought out of 8 total for my business, and it's the only one I have ever had issues with out of the box. I'm starting to think I should have just bough an off-lease or refurbished again and saved my self a few buck and the hassle.

Severe Brightness/Gamma Problems
June 16, 2016
I'm not a content creator, photo/video editor, or other enthusiast. With that in mind, this monitor is totally unacceptable to me. It has so many good reviews that I though it was a slam dunk. After playing with color calibration for the last couple hours, however, I have decided to return it. There is no possible way to calibrate or adjust this monitor to make up for the fact that the Gamma is horribly horribly out of whack.I searched the reviews for this monitor and, lo and behold, I am not the first person to notice this problem. If you use the Windows color calibration utility, turning the Gamma slider completely down is NOT enough. Did a bit of digging and found a response on here from Acer, stating that the Gamma can only be adjusted on the monitor itself it is plugged in via VGA... Seriously? The picture is ludicrously bright and washed out. I'm not sure how advanced a user you need to be for this to drive you crazy, obviously many people have no problem with the blinding default brightness. In my estimation, if you've ever run the windows color calibration program, you are too advanced a user for this monitor and you WILL notice.Wish I would've read a critical review before I wasted my time, but I probably wouldn't have taken it seriously in the face of all the 5 star reviews. Well, add my voice to those who are severely disappointed.
DOA, Very Poorly Designed
February 10, 2016
Arrived only partially functional. It would show the "Energy Star" logo when powered on, and then nothing. No display, nothing when you hit the function buttons on the bottom, nothing when you input a signal from a monitor to the DVI port. What really convinced me that this is a poorly made the monitor is that the function buttons are located on the bottom and are not labelled at all. They are just little black buttons with nothing on them. They are not described in the manual. Don't even know which button worked for what, and they did nothing when I pushed on them.Acer - why would you add a bunch of unlabelled black function buttons that aren't even described in the manuals? Why would you even ship a product that shows a complete lack of engineering oversight?
Inconsistent color top to bottom, lack of color consistency, and washed out colors.
December 20, 2015
Viewing angle and where eyes are relative to the monitor makes a big difference with contrast. The lower you view the monitor (straight on view, so raise or lower your chair/monitor) the more clarity and contrast. Normal view angle like my other Dell monitor is set up (center of monitor) results in almost washed out colors with the Acer monitor (black is more grayish). If straight on view puts your eyes in the bottom 1/3 of the Acer screen, it seems to be OK. Mine is currently on top of a 1-inch block to get the optimal viewing angle, and it is almost acceptable. Does not compare with higher end/more expensive makers and/or models, but I guess you get what you pay for. Not sure if I'll be returning or not yet.Update: In the end, could not handle the inconsistency from top to bottom, lack of crispness, and washed out colors. My eyes actually hurt after trying to use last night. Returned unit today (UPS just picked up).
Cheap... In a very bad way.
November 21, 2015
This is an extremely cheap monitor, and you get what you pay for. The screen colors are very washed out, but most disturbing is the periodic flickering that the screen does every few minutes. This monitor was definitely not made to last, and I would never recommend buying this. Amazon should pay me for the inconvenience of having to return this piece of garbage.
Bad Viewing Angle
May 12, 2015
A bad viewing angle combined with a short stand makes it not possible to get the full benefit of a color display. Everything looks faded. Compared to the display of my laptop with a screen half the size there is really little benefit to the larger screen since the resolution is the same. It just looks faded on the Acer display. The good features is lightweight and slim, which is nice since I travel with it. But, with the poor viewing angle it is not use-able. Improve the viewing angle!!! The stand is short and it does not tilt sufficiently so that you can see the display straight-on so it looks faded. So, in brief, it is not possible to get the full rich color that the display has to offer.
Buyer Beware: Viewing Angles
March 17, 2015
I had ordered the Acer G226HQL Bbd 21.5" model. Something you should be aware of, which isn't mentioned in the description, are the horrible viewing angles. I don't know if it's different for the other sized models (and unfortunately Amazon lumps all the reviews together), but the viewing angles for this model are a pitiful and substandard 90° H x 50° V. I've never seen viewing angles that low. The bottom half of the screen was completely washed out. The only way to possibly make it usable would be to place it on top of a shoebox to make it eye level since it sits so low (there's no height adjustment) and you can't mount it (no VESA mounts).Save your money and find a different monitor with better viewing angles. There are better options out there for the same price that will have a more common 170/160 viewing angle. For $20 more than what is currently being charged for it (glad I didn't pay that much), I instead opted for the IPS panel Dell P2014H that has far more features (height adjust, rotation, VESA mounts, USB ports). You get what you pay for. Sorry Acer.

Terrible product, terrible customer service
October 18, 2017
I bought this monitor 6 months ago and it suddenly went black last week. I sent it in for warranty [using an exorbitant amount of bubble wrap to ensure no damage in transit] and was informed that the monitor has an "internal cracked screen". I was then told that it was considered to be consumer damage and not covered under warranty. It has literally only sat on my desk. I have no idea how that could happen as I do not move it, I do not tilt it, it's barely ever touched! Acer then told me that they can do the repair... for $80 dollars! I did not pay much more than that originally! Our office will be buying new non-Acer monitors from now on.

Lasted 1 year and then stopped powering up. I tried a different power cord and the monitor still doesn't work.
Not Recommended!
July 13, 2017
I liked this monitor to begin with, but after a couple of months the on-screen display started popping up on it's own & cycles through all the different settings endlessly. Resetting it doesn't help & none of the buttons are physically stuck. It's pretty much unusable at this point. I wouldn't recommend this monitor to anyone.
No signal
July 7, 2017
After 1 1/2 years, the monitor no longer detects the hdmi and states no signal. After contacting Acer, I have to send back for repairs at my cost even with a warranty. Wouldn't purchase it again.

February 12, 2017
This product lasted 73 days before the screen went black and lost all display capabilities. It now makes for the most expensive paperweight I have ever purchased. Acer customer service was difficult to contact and offered little help. I didn't expect to have to purchase a brand-new monitor just two-and-a-half months after purchasing a brand-new monitor...
