Felt safe and secure following surgery
September 7, 2017
I had hip replacement surgery almost a week ago and today was the first time I could take a shower. Anticipating my needs, I ordered a Dr Kay's Adjustable Height Bath and Shower Seat. My husband found it to be very easy to assemble and to adjust the legs. It fit perfectly in my walk-in shower and I was able to sit comfortably and securely without fear of falling. I would recommend this product to everyone requiring such a health aide.
Great shower chair for the elderly or disabled.
April 3, 2017
This is light, sturdy and perfectly fits our need for use in a small shower. Aluminum, doesn't rust and very light in weight. A sticker warns to check the wing nuts every use and be certain they are still tight. I have done this and have not felt any loosening. I assume this warning is in anticipation of lawsuits from people who are unaware that wing nuts do loosen over time. Good idea. Chair is probably best for average weights.Great solution to our problem. Was eassy to assemble, intuityive but printed instructions are included.
Nice size for Garden Tubs!
March 15, 2017
I really like this shower chair/ seat. It fits better in our tub than my previous ones. If you have what's called a 'garden tub', they slant inwards at the bottom. That makes it hard to fit a typical (Medline I believe) gray shower chair. It would only fit in the very center of the tub, and still had issues. This one has no trouble fitting. (see pics below) This is the biggest thing I was looking for - so I'm glad I found it!It is a smaller seat to sit on, so be aware of that, depending on what's comfortable for you. I'm a smaller person, so that's no problem for me either way. I've used the chair for a week or so, and it's stable and easy to wipe down after I shower. Note: If you wipe the water off the seat and legs after you shower, it stays cleaner and is less likely to rust. (This was a problem with a previous chair). Good price and quick delivery. Thanks!
This is the one you want beacuse.....
March 17, 2016
Used this seat for 4 months in the shower after a bad motorcycle accident. Performed wonderfully. I highly recommend this particular seat because the adjustable height was 2 inches more than most of the others I saw on line. It's comfortable and sturdy.
Lives up to "Five Star" average rating ...
January 21, 2016
This bath and shower bench lives up to its Five Star billing. It is exceptionally sturdy but light weight. Assembly requires no tools (five well-sized thumb screws) and the instructions are clear and concise. From the time the box was opened to the product being ready for use was less than five minutes. The lower legs extend or collapse easily making height adjustment a breeze. In use, the rubber "feet" on the legs keep the bench from slipping on or marring the tub surface. Best of all is the hard-to-quantify good feeling you get when you've bought a good product. I never thought I'd get it with a simple bath and shower bench ... but I did.
Just Love This
October 16, 2015
I just love this shower bench! I agree with others that it is very easy to assemble, had no problem at all. At times I have back problems that make it painful to stand if I want to take a long shower. Although I have a small shower stall, this fits in fine. I have an adjustable shower head that can be hand held. When my back hurts, I can sit on the bench and massage my back with the massage setting. It feels so good!. My other bathroom has a tub with a shower and the bench also fits in the tub easily. It is also lightweight so it is easy to move. I took a tip from other reviewers and I use it to sit at my bathroom counter to while I blow dry my hair or while putting on my make up. Sorry I didn't think about getting this a long time age.

Product seems sturdy, very easy to put together
September 1, 2017
We Recently moved and have a shower in our new master bathroom with no ledges or seats. I had gotten used to the small corner seat in the shower of our old house. I wanted to get something to not only sit on on occasion, but have something to lift up my legs for ease of shaving. Product seems sturdy, very easy to put together. I like how it is adjustable. We've had it for a few weeks now and it's working out great.

I'm over 6ft and just under 300lbs. Using this in the shower when I'm giving my dog a bath works GREAT! No more sore knees and sturdy enough to hold up.Excellent purchase. Very good material.
Bath seat.

Excellent seat. Comfortable, stable and easily adjusts to desired height. I in fact, use it in my kitchen, (have another for shower) as it is ideal to seat and reach stuff at back of cabinets.
Excellent Shower Stool
April 10, 2015
Recently, I was injured in a work related accident. While recovering and not being so good on my feet from my lengthy hospital stay, I needed something I could use in the shower. Now, I will say, I used this in a shower only, not in a tub environment. The assembly is easy, but I needed some help as I only had one hand to use. To affix the seat to the leg, the screws are like large wing screws with large plastic handles. The only part I had trouble with was the legs, so if you are lacking hand strength, I would have someone else put the legs on, as they are spring loaded. The legs are adjustable and I was able to use easily being 6' and would hold my weight of around 290. So, all in all, it is well made and can put up with a little abuse from me.
Great Seat!
December 31, 2012
I bought this a few months ago and am very pleased! It still works great and I use it for shaving my legs so I don't have to sit on shower floor. Very happy!
No tools, fast to assemble, well balanced
December 5, 2012
I was relieved to see that no tools were required for assembly. The screw-type pieces have large, easy to grip heads that easily fit into place and are a color that stands out. One previous negative review mentioned that the seat didn't stay together. I believe that, as the instructions indicate, the tightness of the screws should be checked periodically. Since they are of plastic, screwing into plastic, they will wear out if allowed to become loose. This is a safety issue that the customer has some control over.Another use for this seat is possibly for exercising using hand weights. Before buying this, I didn't have a straight chair that I could sit in while I used hand weights or chair exercise.Shipment was according to Amazon Prime and packaging was good. I would recommend this product, depending on how long it lasts.

I recommend this shower seat
September 10, 2017
This is helped me more than I can say, as a person disabled by a work injury. It has made a difference in my life.I can sit as needed to enjoy the long showers I enjoyed many years ago.it is perfect for me with the adjustable legs, has been durable for me since purchased.Though I hesitated to buy it, this shower seat has made a wonderful difference in my life.A big Thank You to the maker of this produce.
Very nice
July 13, 2017
This was a lifesaver after knee surgery. It is well made and I never felt unsafe while using it. We still have it in the bathroom near the tub to sit on as we dry off. Almost daily use for months and it looks like new. I'd buy it again and there's not many items today I can say that about.
Well made, but not for larger butts..
May 21, 2017
Its well made, but..the only problem with it... the seat its too small. If you have a big butt don't buy it. you cant use the grip handles on it. I figure since it had good reviews it be great.... But its not for ladies or man with bigger butts. The seat is well made, the legs are well made, and its very easy to assemble. The weight max is 250. they should say weight max more like 150 if that. Going to use it anyways.
Good product
April 22, 2017
Great stool, love that you can adjust the height. My old one sat low and made it hard to reach the shampoo, etc. I took away one star because it isn't very wide. If you're a larger person your bum would hang over the edges lol It sits firmly and I feel safe using it. All in all a good purchase.
Shower with safety
February 17, 2017
Wife bought this for me to use in shower. I have a bad back and standing for any length of time kills me so:Originally had a chair in shower but took up too much room. This adjustable stool is just the right height W/hand holds in seat for stability{dont fall off seat} It's a little wobbely but what can u expect for less than $30. Had it for month or so andis sill standing. Use everyday!!Tom
Very glad I bought this
April 2, 2016
I've had this for 2 weeks. I like the 18" height, so I don't need to grab onto something to stand up. It's narrow and lightweight, yet sturdy and not tipsy. It went together in less than 5 minutes without any tools. It's small enough to tuck in the corner of the shower and not be in the way when not in use. The dimensions provided are accurate. It's perfect to have a place to sit and wash my feet or shave my legs without the concern of stumbling in the shower. I also like the fact that I can sit down when doing my (extremely long) hair, and not have to worry about slipping on conditioner before I get a chance to rinse it off the floor. I find draping the seat with a cotton hand towel or tea towel before using it keeps it clean and comfy.

Pretty good
July 28, 2017
Having this stool was a lifesaver while showering when I had a broken foot. One thing I found though is that you have to check the screw knobs every time before you use it as they tend to become loose.
Nice Seat but a Little Unsteady
October 14, 2016
Nice seat but a little unsteady. The person wanted to get out from the side of the seat but it tipped over.
Big! Won't Fit In Smaller Tubs
November 29, 2015
Well made, inexpensive and well engineered. There are handles to lift it and slots for the water to drain. The problem for me was that it was very big and would not fit in my tub which apparently is not standard. This would be a good choice for a big person, which I am not.
Good design great shower chair
October 29, 2015
Purchased this for my 92 yr old mother who is a little unsteady on her feet. She loves it! Allows her to take a shower daily as she can't get in and out of the tub for a bath. Easy to assemble and adjust. The feet do not actually action to the bottom of the tub so it can still slip or you can throw it off balance if your feet slip. We added a bath mat in front of it and no longer worry about slipping. I also used it afternoon surgery and while in a cast. Made my life so much easier!
Sturdy, works well.
September 8, 2015
Works well. Assembly is easy, and adjusting the leg height is quick, it has those metal nubs that you push in, then just slide the leg to the desired height. Small holes in the seat allow water to flow through so you're not sitting in a puddle. The plastic feet prevent skidding. I haven't used it more than a few times.
Great product.
April 29, 2014
Family member had knee surgery and could not stand in the shower. I ordered this so she could shower comfortably. It worked great, the seat is plenty wide, the handles on the sides are great and the chair feels stable in the shower. The legs are adjustable in height with a simple push button adjusting system, and the feel have rubber padding on them for non slip/tub marring.Very happy with purchase.Things to consider...When measuring your tub, make sure you measure the bottom of your tub. If you have a jacuzzi style tub, the chair will only fit at the front of the tub. most of these tubs (like mine) contour in toward the read and the chair will not fit, not even sideways.

Good quality... but not really working for me
November 4, 2017
The quality is good. I ordered it for my mom because her Physical Therapist recommended that she have a stool to sit on for 30 minutes a day that has no arms or back to help her build muscle mass in her trunk. Specifically so she has to support her entire trunk herself with nothing to lean on. She has alzheimers and dementia and is to the point that she has lost a lot of her muscle mass and it is effecting her walking etc. Mom has trouble standing up from a sitting position so the adjustable legs are a must. I have 2 problems with this stool: 1) It says on the description that it adjust to a full 2 inches higher than its competitors... At its full height it is still so short I have to keep a pillow on it and she still has problems standing. 2) The seat is too small... the reason I chose this one was for the handles on each side. Mom could grab them to help push herself up. She only weighs 135lbs. and is a petite woman. The seat is so small that she can't even use the handles to help. I am making do for now because we have to have it. As soon as possible I will be replacing it with one that's taller and has a bigger seat. I took away a star for each of my issues.

Fine for short term recovery...
November 16, 2016
This was purchased for an individual who had a protracted illness which left them very weak and unstable in the shower. First off, if your shower floor is not ABSOLUTELY FLAT, this will begin to get... bendy. However, we DID like it and it served it's short term purpose and, hopefully, will not be needed again any time soon. We did have to check that the screws were tight after every use.The shower it was used in slopes very gently towards the drain at the center. This was enough to loosen the screws (re-tightening them didn't help) and it seemed that all four legs couldn't manage to touch the floor of the shower at the same time. HOWEVER, it was stable enough and there were no incidents. If anyone in my household had a permanent disability, I'd look for something a little sturdier. But for a few weeks of convalescence, it managed to do the job for the price paid.

Not worth it
June 13, 2017
Works okay. Legs never screwed in ALL the way. Been using it since march. About once a week while using, legs move, it tilts to one side, and you almost fall out of it. Legs have to be tightened but it'll just happen again in a week.
Not short enough for me.
June 27, 2015
This screws into precut holes in the plastic seat. It is almost impossible for them to remain tight. They must be secured frequently and I am afraid that the plastic will stretch to the point where it will never hold again. When that happens I will have to super glue it. Unfortunately it is at its lowest 14 inches high. I really needed something that is about 12 inches high. I do have a very small shower but this seat just fits in without much clearance so it is ok as far as the width goes.
DANGEROUS WHEN WET!!! Good concept but bad material
March 29, 2014
I bought this shower chair to use because my bad knees make it difficult for me to stand for any length of time. The first time or two I used it, it was pretty good but I noticed that the seat was a bit slippery when it got wet. I was trying to think of a way to make the seat a little less slippery but hadn't come up with anything by the time I used it for the 3rd time. On that occasion, I sat on the chair in the shower to wash my legs and before I knew it, I was slipping right off the darn chair! Yes, I fell in the shower but was so lucky that when I started sliding, I tried to stand up. I ended up sitting in the tub with the stupid chair legs hugging me and the seat digging into my back. When I slid, the chair tipped over so the legs were facing me. I'm lucky I didn't break a rib. It took me 10 minutes to reach behind me and finally move the chair out of the tub so that I could try and stand up. Which, if you have serious arthritis in your knees it pretty darn difficult. If you buy this product, please BE CAREFUL OF THE SEAT!!! Maybe put a towel on the seat or something that won't slide. I haven't worked up the courage to put the darn thing back in my tub yet. As I said, a really great idea, but they need to use something other than hard plastic that gets very slippery when wet for the seat.
Would of been great if it fit
March 14, 2013
The chair arrived and after putting it together in less then 5 minutes was very excited to see that it looked Sturdy and well made. Only problem is it doesnt fit in my Shower. We dont have a small tub we have an average tub. I have no idea who has tubs that could possibly fit this thing. It is huge. The only chance i would of had to fit this bench would of been to put it length wise. But i didnt think that would be comfortible after going through my 3rd back Surgery. So needless to say this item will be getting returned. I will close with saying if you have an oversized shower or maybe a standup shower this bench might work great. But for people with normal sized tubs this would never fit
Nice seat, Lousy customer service.
February 19, 2013
I'm really torn with this one. I love the seat, but when the rubber caps on the feet began to deteriorate after only a few months, I contacted their customer service asking if I could purchase replacement feet. To be fair, my shower floor is dimpled and the rubber feet never could sit flat. So I didn't ask for free replacement, just if I could purchase new ones. It too the company a full month and 2 days to return my email asking me for proof of purchase. By that time I had found replacements on my own.Like I said I like the seat fine. I am 6 feet tall and have the seat at it's highest setting and it feels very stable with lots of room. As long as the floor of your bath is flat you should be fine.
Price is right
January 23, 2013
The price is about the best thing to recommend for this product. It does seem strong enough, but the adjustable legs have a strange rattling sound that doesn't inspire confidence, the legs when attached are not completely even, and the curved seat is comfortable but makes it harder to transfer onto the seat from the edge of the tub. I'd say it's "fine" - not awesome but does the job.

Legs eventually rust
September 19, 2017
This shower seat was great and just the right size, not taking up too much room in our shower. However after 1 year of use, the legs started rusting through the small holes on the rubber feet and began staining the tile. I would not purchase this bench again unless it is guaranteed rustproof.
Not crazy about this
August 2, 2017
I am on the thin side and it feels wobbly. Part of the problem is that the legs splay at the bottom and with the good but large rubber leg holders it doesn't fit in my shower properly.
Not impressed upon receipt and assembly attempt
May 26, 2017
The product was delivered from a private automobile. The box was partially torn open. A product like this should be a no-brainer to assemble. Instead, the instructions didn't match the actual product (legs). The legs did not fit correctly into the seat posts. Product is by "Healthline." "Warranty" info and assembly instructions card has no contact info for the manufacturer or customer service. Who the heck to you contact with a problem? Would not buy again without a good explanation.

February 21, 2017
DANGER! Serious danger if a fall will knock your hip out of the socket! I bought this when I broke some ribs and it was just perfect. A good height for a tall person and although a tiny bit wobbly, I felt secure. We got it out again this week when I got home from the hospital after total hip replacement. SO very grateful that my husband noticed how wobbly it was and that it was going to fall apart. He is ingenious on working with things and tried to strengthen it, but it's made out of materials that are too wimpy for such an important job. He was not able to reinforce it using the wimpy legs and was just going to build me a tall stool, but since the seat is super comfortable and allows water to flow through it, my husband used the seat and rebuilt a foundation. Do NOT count on this holding you up past the first several uses. Not made well. Either come up with a fixer-upper like my husband, or skip it altogether. It's not worth breaking yourself again.

NOT STURDY AT ALL
August 22, 2017
I'm a 45 year old average sized woman with a fractured foot. I bought this to use in my shower while I'm recovering from my injury. As soon as it gets wet/soapy, the rubber grips slip around in the bottom of the shower and the legs start to spread apart and I felt like I was gonna slide off and crack my head open! I can't imagine if I was an elderly person and had balance issues, or god forbid tried to use this while alone!
The materials this chair is made of are just fine and the seat is good etc
June 11, 2017
The materials this chair is made of are just fine and the seat is good etc. The problemwith this product, at least for me, is that the legs, from outer edge to outer edge (including the rubber caps,) on the front and backsides are 24 inches wide and it is too wide for my tub. If you are going to use this in atub make sure yours is wide enough.
Am I using this wrong?
December 4, 2015
I don't know if I'm using this wrong or what, but I find this is not what I expected, it feels very unstable. Note I am not over the weight limit for the chair, and I did make sure all 5 of the screws were in completely tight.1) The seat is slippery, despite the holes. Makes me wish I ordered the one with a back. Might try putting a towel on the seat.2) It fits in my tub's width, but the feet land on slightly curved bottom corners of the tub. This makes the chair feel like it's going to slip. Maybe if I turned the floor mat sideways? I don't know. If I turn the seat lengthwise, the legs are flat on the tub floor but it's not practical for me to sit on sideways (my legs don't fit in or out of the tub in a stable way).3) The chair feels like it rotates slightly (clockwise or counter-clockwise) on the legs and is going to buckle/collapse. Feels like it could use extra supports somewhere so the 2 crossed leg supports don't twist. Maybe cross bars down lower or corner supports under the bottom of the seat. When sitting on it I'm so tensed and afraid to move much for fear of falling it defeats the purpose of the chair. It didn't collapse, but I've only used it once and I'm afraid to use it again. When used out of the tub on a flat floor, it feels sturdier and I don't get the rotating sensation. I feel like it's because of the curved sides of my tub. So it's good to sit while drying off... but not what I wanted it for.I would return this if I hadn't already used it once. Should have tested it with clothes on first (though the soap/water/bare skin in the shower ups the instability factor exponentially).
I would not recommend
September 16, 2015
It sure it nice to be able to sit down in the shower when you are only able to stand on one foot. However this is not a very sturdy seat it does wobble. For you must be very careful. It does not fit in the tub and shower combination the way it is supposed to, too wide had to put it the opposite way. I would not recommend this to sn elderly person or someone disabled. This is an accident waiting to happen for some people, as you are not able to depend on this not to move or wobble.
Disappointing
May 7, 2015
I chose this one because the weight limit was higher than the others. Unfortunately, the bolts loosen up with each use, and must be tighten every time. If I could find another one for up to 300 pounds, I'd return this one!It is comfortable, but too wide for my little tub, and the aluminum legs bent even though I was well under the weight limit.
The first one was great - this one not so much
April 18, 2013
I purchased this seat to replace the identical seat that I left in another state when I moved. The first stool lasted for years and I had no complaints about it. This one I started using in September 2012 and by April 13th, 2013, it collapsed dumping me into the bath tub. Since I weigh less than the weight limit, I was very shocked not to mention the muscles that did not appreciate the sudden stop. This chair was a health hazard - not a health aid.

I was hoping with the 5 star rating and many reviews that I would be just as impressed. Unfortunately, after use for a year, this shower seat's legs do a split with the fastener's tightened the whole way. I have to have a shower seat to take a shower. This is a huge safety issue, and it almost led to me falling in the tub. I ended up standing on 1 foot waiting for my mom to come help me out of the tub.

Horrible. Purchased about a year and a half ago for my mom's 2nd home. She used it maybe 10 times and the legs are so week that they spread out and we had th throw it out for her safety. She is not a large women either.
Extremely unsafe. DO NOT BUY THIS.
June 10, 2017
While trying to dress I leaned right and the leg just bent and collapsed under me. This was only the 3rd use. If you want to do anything beyond sitting passively in the shower DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. If you are recovering from surgery this is EXTREMELY UNSAFE. If there had been an actual injury when I hit the floor I am certain my insurance company would have sued the manufacturer. Our use of this chair was well within the advertised usage.
Don't waste your money on this POS
January 21, 2015
Don't waste your money on this POS! Purchased just over a month ago and used a mere TEN times, and this thing is failing. The legs spread outward and the bolts are stripped. I am under the 300lb limit, so that is not the issue. However, this thing shouldn't be rated for anyone over 100lbs!
Don't risk falling on this seat.
December 27, 2014
I am a 40 year old man who broke his leg. This shower seat is so shaky and un-stable. One time I had to catch myself before I fell. I worry that someone will buy this for they're elderly loved one and they won't be able to catch them self and will be injured badly. The legs keep coming loose. No matter how many times I tighten the legs they keep coming loose.
UNSAFE and cheap
April 2, 2014
I bought this shower stool for my boyfriend who got ACL reconstruction surgery last week. At first I was delighted at how easy it was to assemble - the instructions were so huge and easy that seriously ANYONE could put this thing together. However, during the second use, the seat slipped from under my boyfriend!! Luckily we were using it on the bathroom floor and not the bathtub/shower, and very luckily he was not seriously hurt, but this could have been CATASTROPHIC. When we picked it back up it was clear that the legs had bent in considerably, causing it to become unstable and slip. This product is allegedly built to support up to 300 lbs and my boyfriend is 200lbs...Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. May people use shower stools for safety, and this product ensures the opposite.
Terrible
July 12, 2013
Do not purchase this item for any reason.Originally, this was purchased for my wife due to the fact that she needed to have ankle surgery. The first two times it was used, there was not problem. However, shortly thereafter, the seat became unsteady and wobbled. We tried adjusting the legs, re-read the instruction manual and put everything back together in accordance with the instructions. Still the problem persisted and worsened until using the product became more of a hazard than not using it. Legs of the chair do not sit flush with the ground. It's just a shame that I planned ahead and purchased it in advance of my wife's surgery and am unable to return it due to the return date being a week after my wife's surgery and one week before the entire apparatus become dangerously unstable.
