January 15, 2015 This TV is awesome. It was super easy to pair with my system and I love all the smart features. My previous set was from 2008, so the upgrades in features and picture were remarkable for me. My wife and I often joke that the picture is too clear, but I love it, especially for sports and video games. The fact that there are only 3 HDMI ports doesn't really bother me, either, as I run everything off my Yamaha receiver. Overall, this TV was a tremendous upgrade and bargain for me and I am very happy with this purchase. It doesn't have many of the features of higher-priced LEDs; however, the picture quality is very sound and I have been exceedingly pleased with watching movies and sports with it. The picture is very clear and the sound quality is rather good. I prefer being able to manipulate the motion settings for watching different broadcasts (as I am able to do with my Panasonic and Vizio TVs), and I haven't been able to figure out how to do this with this TV. Two Star Reviews: | 9% TV Channels have Black screen, no sound. June 3, 2017 This TV has recently begun to get a black screen with no sound when trying to watch OTA channels. The audio, channel name and program title will appear at the top of the screen when pressing the display button. The surround sound will display, the video which is usually 720 or 1080 remains blank. The channel number and signal strength is displayed via the menu. The TV settings menu can be accessed and displayed onscreen. The blu ray player and Amazon Fire TV works and plays video and sound. After leaving the TV off for a few hours, the channels come back. Does anyone else have this problem? I liked the tv before it stopped working however which is ... March 31, 2017 I bought the tv a little over a year ago and it will no longer works. The tv turns on and won't move past the Sharp logo. I've been told it needs a firmware update however i can't update then firmware because the tv won't move past the Sharp logo. I've read many other reviews online with customers having the same problem and needing the main board to be replaced. If i were to go back again i would have purchased a Panasonic which i have had no problems with in the past. I liked the tv before it stopped working however which is why i gave 2 stars rather than one. TV freezes and have to unplug it. May 7, 2015 My husband and I purchased our 70" on January 30th 2015. We are now having the same issue as many of the other reviews. Our TV freezes up. The remote nor the controls on the back of the TV work. We have to unplug the TV to get them to work and after 5 minutes of the TV being on it freezes up again. I have called Sharp, was told to do a software update however my TV is completely up to date so they escalated my case. I was told someone would call me back 24 to 48 hours later and no one called. I called them back last night because I still hadn't received a phone call and of course the department I needed was already closed even though I called during operating hours. Now I am waiting again for someone to call me. I really like the TV. The picture is incredible and I love having a smart TV I just haven't been able to watch my TV in going on 4 days now. Sharp LC-70LE660, Love the picture but not enough to keep it March 6, 2015 I purchased this Sharp 70" about a month ago at Sams Club for $1398. Picture is great but TV has problems, I have updated firmware and as of today 3/6/15 the TV tells me it has the latest firmware, no new updates available. First of all the TV lacks the intuitive interfaces that the Samsung smart tv's have. Your stuck with just the app's Sharp has pre loaded. There are several other design issues that are well documented in other reviews here so I'll skip those. BUT THE PICTURE even with the soap opera effect was enough for me to forgo the other objections.THEN THE PROBLEMS STARTED: During installation I updated the firmware to the latest, and I just checked today, the TV tells me I have the most current version and no update is needed.About the second or third day after bringing the Sharp home I started to notice during certain commercials the TV picture would skip, like momentary black outs of the DISH satellite signal. I checked the signal strength, it was "good". Only was happening in commercials, only occasionally and seemed only to be on one network channel, I put it up to a problem with the network stations transmission. Problem started happening more often. Then when watching the NETFLEX series Marco Polo about the 5th episode it started to have the same problem. After awhile the screen just went slime green. Tried turning off the TV with the remote, no response. Tried the power button on the back left side of the TV, no response, no response to any button on the TV or remote. Had to take the TV down to get to the plug (uugh) unplugged it, waited a minute and plugged it back in. It turned on, started the Netflex application again and picked back up where I left off. Still getting skips but now probably 10-15 a minute. Noticed the audio is uninterrupted during skips. Then screen went black and stayed that way until I shut it off and on. While watching DISH I still get the skips but they are rare and again happen more during commercials. I also forgot to mention about the second or third day I owned this TV it turned its self on. I was the only one home and was working in the office, it was late morning and the TV had not been turned on since the evening before. All of a sudden I hear dialog, look up into the living room and this TV is on and tuned into a program, I got up looked for the remote it was sitting on the table where I had left it. This only happened once but apparently it is not uncommon according to others reviews here.As Sams club gives a 90 day return on TV's I plan on returning this Sharp and getting a Samsung, had there not been so many similar and worse experiences within these reviews I would have probably exchanged this one for the same even given some of its features that are sub par to Samsung because of its great picture, but I have lost confidence that this TV and would worry that I'd be dealing with service repair calls after the 90 day return period was over, or worse after warranty was up. | 6% Mediocre - I would look for other brands September 27, 2017 Well not the best. Its been almost 2.5 years after I made this purchase. Sometimes the sound just quits. This seems to be when I change input to my roku. Called customer support first time. They were moderately helpful. Eventually advised that I turn it off, disconnect all external inputs, wait a few sec, reconnect and then restart. Takes a few extra sec to start. Then the sound is back. This has happened 3-4 times since. Very annoying. Now when it is working the pic is great and the sound okay. But I would advise NOT buying this model. October 11, 2015 I give it one star for the simple fact it's a beautiful picture ... It's supposed to be a smart tv. The only app it includes is Netflix. For us non cable users a smart tv should include Amazon prime, Hulu, pretty much any app options a roku has. Well we have 2 rokus so whatever.... But 3 months into owning the tv, the hdmi ports won't give out audio to any device, such as my roku3. So now I can't watch sh** besides Netflix on this $1500 tv. Waste of money. I should have went with a Samsung .. Oh and customer service with sharp is a pain in the ass.. Went in circles back and forth for days and no help in the end. Would not recommend this tv at all. Problems January 13, 2015 I set up the 70" TV got everything working properly. After about 2 hours the unit shut down and restarted. This happens about every 1 or 2 hours. Also I shut the unit off when we went to bed and it came on by itself sometime during the night. I called Sharp and they said they would get a software fix. I don't think a software fix will do. They have some problems with the construction. The Sharp Aquos definitely has some problems and I would not buy it. I returned it to get another brand. | 26% Damaged Unit: Amazon, Reseller & Sharp Invoke "Not Me" Ghost September 15, 2016 Terrible customer service, from Amazon, to the reseller to Sharp itself. Unit was damaged but only after turning it on was that apparent. No Sharp logo, no picture, even though the unit is powered on. No way to select any input sources from either the remote or the unit itself because nothing appears on the screen. When on, there is a spidery "crack" although screen outwardly has no cracks. You can't tell it when pulled out of the box, but when you turn it on? Yes. Don't know if there are two problems here: a physical defect *and* an electronic one. Even with a busted screen, your phone will still display. Not this unit. And stand will not work: right side of the bracket won't slip into the set, unless you apply force, and I was unwilling to do that. Amazon said, contact the reseller. Reseller said call Amazon. Amazon said, call Sharp. Sharp wanted to send me back to Amazon: no one wanted to take any responsibility for it or wanted to help. Deeply disappointing and quite pathetic. Dead within a year. I will never buy a sharp again Sharp Customer Service Deplorable...Use Another Company September 23, 2015 I bought this TV at the PX on Fort Benning and enjoyed the TV for approximately 1 month until one day it didn't turn on.Sharp was quick to send out a repair man who replaced the power boards and then used a Dewalt drill to reassemble the TV. He pressed to hard with the drill and cracked the screen. He told us he would have a new screen sent out in 2-3 days and he would replace it. He told Sharp that it was the customer who cracked the screen.The customer service for this particular TV is in the Philippines. This particular call center was extremely rude and said it was our fault and closed the case. SHARPUSA would not back us up and told us there was nothing they would do.I will never buy a Sharp product ever again and I would recommend that you don't either. They are not supportive of their customers and they do not go to bat for those that have purchased products from them.Very sad company. It worked...for six days. September 19, 2015 We bought the TV back in July because we were in the process of buying a house and we needed a TV. It arrived on time, we unboxed it and set it up to make sure it worked. It worked fine, we put it back in the box and stored it in a spare room until we moved which took a month and a half. We moved in last Saturday, set it up on Sunday, and it's now the following Saturday and our TV won't turn on. It worked fine last night, but this morning the only life our TV shows is the standby light. I contacted Amazon Customer Service, they told me what I already knew which is that it was out of the 30 day return period, so they sent me to Amazon Tech Support, they tried trouble shooting it (for example, unplug the power source from the TV and hold down the power button for 30 seconds then plug the tv back in and hit power) Nothing worked so I was told to call Sharp Tech Support and he tried trouble shooting it as well. Nothing worked. He transferred me to someone else who said that I will get a phone call in 3-5 business days so I can set up an appointment to get it looked at. Are you kidding me?! I have to wait 3-5 business days just to set up an appointment to get my FAULTY TV fixed. It's been working for only SIX days. SIX! I'm so over Sharp.
