Refurbished, no issues
September 4, 2016
I purchased this refurbished from VIPOUTLET for $140. This is not a 5 star HDTV, but considering the price I purchased it at, this was a great deal. I am using this in the bedroom and it suits that purpose perfectly. I have read many people have had issues with the sound not being loud enough. I think the volume goes up around 60 and I usually place it at 12 or 13. I don't know if that was part of the refurbish process but volume has not been an issue for me. Some frequencies tend to resonate strangely and make undesired noises (even with the bass turned down,) this has only happened an a couple of occasions though when the volume was a little higher than I generally set it to.The resolution is only 720 but on a 32" screen the average viewer can't tell the difference between 720 and 1080. When the picture is entirely black and the blu-ray player is in the process of starting up, the corners/edges of the screen emit a white/orange light. This does not occur when the screen is entirely black while viewing content. Picture quality is very good even while streaming content. This is not a smart tv but I paired it with a blu-ray player that has wifi and apps: Sony BDPS3700. Together, they make a relatively inexpensive and satisfying setup. I am very pleased with my purchase but I would not pay more than $200 for this item.
I love this tv
April 10, 2016
I love this tv! It has a beautiful crystal clear picture and was the perfect size for my bedroom. It has a sleep timer setting which is essential for me. It does not have the traditional red, yellow, and white connections for older components but it does have directions on how to connect those components through the red, blue, and green ports. It only has enough for one component though. By following the directions I was able to hook up my old nintendo 64 console to this tv but everything else has to be hdmi.
Great TV for Great price
December 18, 2015
I really love this TV. The only weird thing I've encountered is when I first got the TV, I was watching a lot of Hulu and for some reason, the sound would glitch out on me and make a buzzing noise whenever the show would come back on from the commercials. But it's gone now and I haven't had any other problems with Hulu or any other apps on it. Really great picture and sound and I love all of the different display options for this TV. Huge improvement from the tiny television I had before. LG products never disappoint.
Best purchase!
December 15, 2015
Before purchasing this TV for my guest bedroom I read the reviews and was hesitant to purchase it. Some of the reviews mentioned this TV was not easy to assemble and that the volume was low, I couldn't disagree more! I assembled it myself in less than 10 minutes and then I called Dish for tech support to help me connect, it was a breeze! I had to adjust the volume to #12 setting because it was too loud. I am very happy with the picture, sound and the ease of assembling it. I think the only negative comment I have was with the UPS driver who left this package by my front door out in the open and I didn't get notified about the delivery until 8pm.
Great little TV for small spaces
September 30, 2015
Great TV for my small living room. I am not a tech guru when it comes to TV's, but here is what I have noticed after several weeks of using this TV:Pros: crystal clear picture; headphone jack - which I use a lot; easy to use settings; very light (if you need to move it - I had a 28" Sharp TV a while back that was twice as heavy); easy to install stand; speakerphones are surprisingly clear for such a small TV; three HDMI ports - using one for ROKU 2 and one for cable TV; fits on my IKEA shelves. And probably more that I cannot think of, and probably much more that is technical that I am not really into. :-)Cons: none that I have noticed.I am enclosing three pictures, though the pictures do not fully show how clear the TV picture is.Highly recommended for small spaces.
Best BIG purchase in a long time

Love this TV!! Bright picture and sound is great. Size is fabulous compared to price (could NOT find this quality for same price). I have had this TV for 9 days and have ZERO complaints. Yay!!

A premium TV for a cheap TV price
February 26, 2017
The deal seemed to good to be true after ordering I keep expecting to get told sorry computer glitch it's not really that price or I'd get it and it would look like I bought it at a pawn shop but besides I think the wrong screws for the legs it look and acks like a Brand-new TV , I'm very very happy and would tell anyone looking for a great tv for a cheap tv price this is it. Thanks again I couldn't be happier with my vt

We could not be more impressed with the picture and the sound is great too. The input jacks and cord are well placed and made it easy to mount the TV flat on the wall and drill a single hole behind it to run the words invisibly. The wifi set up and cable TV sync were no more painful that I expected and I love the fact that the IR remote for the cable box works perfectly when pointed at the TV!
I loved it but
September 21, 2015
I love the picture it didn't have enough hdmi outlets for all of my devices, cable connection, DVD player and game system. I couldn't get it connected I had to call the cable company
Amazing crisp image

Amazing crisp image, and clarity. It feels like you are there. Streamlined to the point as all you see is the picture, and very little of any border.

Good picture, sound leave something to be desired
July 27, 2017
This TV has a great picture & is easy to set up, but the USB ports in the back are so close that it's difficult to install a fire stick- it will fit, but you really have to jam it in there. And the sound isn't great. It's not particularly clear & it almost sounds as if it's projecting backwards from the tv. That said, It's not a bad deal for the money
Have not been disappointed. Likes - reasonably good speakers for a baseline ...
July 18, 2017
18 months ago purchased the 39" LG 1080 HD TV and was impressed with picture clarity and color renditions. Had friends and family comment on picture quality. So when I decided to finally replace a tube TV in a vacation home, decided to purchase the 32 inch smaller sibling. Have not been disappointed. Likes - reasonably good speakers for a baseline TV. Sounds good in a 10 by 12 room. Excellent color, contrast, clarity. Thin edge design looks great. Dislikes - premium price as compared to Target but big box stores were 30+ minutes away. Free prime shipping and saving a trip made it worth my while. There are cheaper alternatives on Amazon but chose to go with proven LG performance . Note this is not a smart TV but have a fire stick so this was not a consideration.
Good pucture, easy set up
July 8, 2017
needed an ecpensive replacement for an old flatscreen that failed due to age. Good pucture, easy set up. Light and easy to assemble. I bought a refurb and it was fine-packing was good. Looks like it came with an after-market stand different in style from OEM model but I used a wall mount so I can't speak to the quality of the stand. It has 3 HDMI inputs. Good, inexpensive flatscreen option.
Good price for what you get

I know I could have done better, but this a nice TV, and I'm really happy so far. Nice, but not a knockout picture! Great price.
Great picture - poor sound
December 10, 2015
The picture is really great but the sound is almost nonexistent. We hooked up the DVD and had to turn it to 100 to even hear it. Watching the TV the sound has to be over 40 to hear it decently. I had the runaround from LG support and finally got a service rep in my area to call. Sounds like from the reviews though that this issue with sound is not uncommon. I shouldn't have to buy external speakers for a new TV. My old 12 y/o TV had much better sound than this one!

My, opinion on the sharp aquos 4k
November 7, 2015
This tv was received the other day. The shipping packaging was very well done and shipped on time. As always expected by Amazon. The picture is fabulous. Our cable only streams in "I" so to watch a movie on cable is horrible. Watching from Netflix or a HD DVD player is great. The sound is not so great and the remote is horrible. We chose this particular TV because we had an Aquos that was 11 years old and still going strong so we wanted to just upgrade the technology. I'm disappointed that it doesn't have an Amazon prime app. Otherwise the tv is fabulous and a great price at $549 for the 50". Amazon had the best price around!

Love this tv. User friendly. Remote leaves a bit to be desired so I use my Roku remote instead.
Good TV for the price
August 25, 2015
Nice TV...was expecting a little bit better quality from a 4K TV. The remote is very cheap, but the TV is good quality. Not many app options, you will definitely want some sort of streaming device like Fire TV etc.
NO AMAZON PRIME VIDEO
August 7, 2015
I should have listened to the other reviewers, it does NOT include an app for Amazon Prime video even after the software update. It was my primary reason for buying this TV so I could use the FireStick for an older TV at my father's home. I guess I'll just have to get another FireStick.
Great TV.
August 2, 2015
Love this TV, picture looks amazing, there is a little light bleed out of one side of the bezel, but it's not enough to bug me. Great budget 4K Telly.
Great on all counts except weak and feeble remote power!
July 18, 2015
It is fantastic on all points, but one. The remote uses button cell watch batteries and TV cannot receive a signal from it's low powered IR!!! If you are watching at 3 to 5 feet fine! Go normal distances and almost every time you click it does not receive...twice or more and you must very carefully and steadily point at bottom of TV input to get it to work.Very frustrating to set up and search..a poor release of a weak design as they must know! It would have been much better to design it for two AAA batteries with a little bulging compartment at the rear for more power and use of rechargeables, plus then it is EASY to feel where the rear is anyway in the semi-dark. Always ending up upside down for me.The Netflix big button in the middle is great the quality is amazing with this TV. Even a direct connect from a VHS player looks good if you use it with side panel view. It improves VHS, DVD and Blue-Ray. It is capable of Twice Blue-Ray quality and when you sign up online and register you get their channel displaying 4 K.I would buy the TV again with a choice. I bought a moveable arm for it and it is adjustable for different seatings in the room. The Internet connection seem to settle out overnight ...had to manually select the Wireless Router and put in the Password as the router did not got auto push Button WPS... I think I was using a more secure setting.

Otherwise the television is fine for the price
July 22, 2016
I bought this for my teen daughters room. She had some trouble getting her game system hooked up and working. Otherwise the television is fine for the price. The picture quality is a bit off but not terribly noticable. Just sort of unclear but is better the farther away you sit from it. The sound is good for a bedroom.
Broke after less than one year.
June 1, 2016
Started to not power on after about 10 months. Its still under LGs 1 year total warranty and they seem to be honoring it at this point. Ill update my review after they do they RMA repair/replacement. It could be an unlucky flaw, but 10 months before dying is really crappy.

January 4, 2016
Nice television but it needs RCA audio out like others have said. Most people aren't going to toss out old amps just because a company has decided to leave out the RCA audio out. I ended up sending the audio form the 3.5mm earphone jack to my amp using a 3.5mm to RCA cord.

December 2, 2015
All the complaints about low volume are 100% correct. Still playing with it, but no too impressed. I have larger, older LG, which is why I bought this one. Not the same breed. If you buy one, consider it a "utility" TV.

The picture is excellent, but even at the loudest setting
September 8, 2015
The picture is excellent, but even at the loudest setting, it is hard to hear this TV from more than 4 feet away. I have mine hooked up to my Cable TV system, in my kitchen, and it's hard to hear it even with nothing going on in the kitchen. If they could add some external speakers, it would be terrific!

Really terrible service at every pass this TV up and opt for a different brand
November 25, 2016
We purchased this tv and a month before it was a year old the screen went completely black. We called the Sharp service center and they shipped us another one, when delivered it had a crack on the screen. We called the service center again and they shipped us another one and the screen keeps blacking out so they are now in the process of shipping us yet another one. We are trying to remain optimistic that we may finally going to get a replacement that actually works. I am not a happy camper and me husband is especially upset...after all it's a big football weekend and a man without football is very grumpy.

0 stars. First time buying a Sharp product. First tv shipped had a shattered screen. The replacement tv has a red line down the right size after only 3 months, about 1/4" wide. It's so distracting I can't enjoy any 4k entertainment. I should have bought a Samsung tv. Don't be fooled by the price, this tv is garbage, and have seen many forums with owners with the same red bar issue. Total garbage tv
Crisp imagery but poor smart features.

Unfortunately the "smart" functionalities aren't smart. However, the picture quality is quite nice for the price.

Missing stand parts
December 21, 2016
Came without the stand cover, I don't think it is necessary but it was missing. The TV also only came with 3 of the 6 screws it was supposed to. TV itself is alright, it's a tv. Just missing parts for the stand which sucks bc I had bought it as an xmas gift.

The remote that comes with this unit is the worse remote I've ever owned. The TV has to be reset to factory default about once every 2 months because it's network stops working either with wifi or cat5. Can't seem to find any app for my smart phone to take the place of the remote either.

November 22, 2015
Great tv.. But worlds flimsiest and worst tv remote ever.. Major flaw
Not the Sharp AQUOS I'm used to...
August 28, 2015
For now, this TV is still a bargain for 4k, but keep in mind there is a reason for that.I have experience with several models of Sharp AQUOS televisions, ranging from their lowest tier to their highest end LCD and LED HDTV's. This was my first UHD set, and I have to say it falls short of my expectations.I got this set as part of the Prime day deal, despite it not being at all the type of television I was looking for, essentially out of desperation to complete my planned purchase of a new TV on the Amazon anniversary sale. Impulse purchases are rarely a good idea, as this experience has proven.Yes the TV is UHD, 4K, etc. etc. But good luck finding any content. Yes you can pay a bit more a month for a few Netflix shows just to say you have used the feature, but otherwise its a desolate wasteland of content. One of the supposed perks of this set is the ability to upscale typical HD content to near UHD quality. Sometimes this effect is noticeable, and when it is it is very nice, but the upscale has a few MAJOR drawbacks.Since the upscaler is essentially a series of algorithms that must constantly process images, the consistency is severely lacking. Some scenes look brilliant, while others look like blocky messes, and rarely does the entire picture show the effects, usually just the camera focal point. The most troubling thing caused by the upscaler is definitely the motion blur. Sometimes it is absolutely dizzying, and frankly uncomfortable to watch. I expect trouble in fast paced sports, which is a shame in itself, but there is sometimes severe picture lag in sitcom-style shows! Finally, if you are a gamer I have to tell you to avoid this set at all costs. I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means, and I play no "twitch" reaction games, but I still have a PS4 and Wii U powered up several times a week. THE INPUT LAG IS ATROCIOUS!!! I mean it, absolutely terrible. Even in game mode the time between pressing a button on the controller and seeing the action on screen is obnoxious, and completely distracting. I don't know if its the upscaler or what, but there is nothing you can do to fix this. I have turned off every smart setting on the TV, and still there is a half-second delay. This has been by far the biggest disappointment with this purchase. A big reason for my TV upgrade was for an improved gaming experience. I got a bigger screen, but overall a far worse experience. In the end, this TV is a very affordable way to get into the UHD market, but I really don't think its worth it. A few years down the line you will see the prices of 4k sets plummet, and there may actually be some content for them. If you are desperate to future proof your entertainment center, spend the extra money. Otherwise do yourself a favor and hold off on 4k, or maybe a new TV altogether. This purchase was a regrettable one. If you like sports and gaming, this television is definitely not for you.
like Netflix. Amazon Prime is not supported

The remote barely works, and the buttons are overly sensitive. Universal remotes do not access all the features, like Netflix. Amazon Prime is not supported.
The Only Thing Sharp is the Price
August 9, 2015
I bought this television on sale during Prime Day. My previous TV was a 40-inch Sharp from a few years ago. That TV was something I loved to stream movies and play games on. It worked out of the box with few adjustments to any picture settings. I figured it would be the same with this 55-inch 4K. Boy, was I wrong. Most serious gamers know to switch their AV Mode to GAME. This is common on all major television manufacturers, and it disables certain post processing features in the television which effectively speeds up the picture to decrease any possible video lag. This very much has to be selected on this television for any sort of video gaming. After it is selected this TV does require a bit of getting used to. Maybe it is the difference in the size from my other Sharp, but there is a bit more lag on GAME mode than previously.I wholeheartedly recommend you read two additional Amazon reviews for this TV. NicD has a very thorough review, and I agree with most of his sentiment, especially his input about the apps on this "smart" TV. Another reviewer, Gregory Haney, goes into depth about the gaming lag and he also lays the foundation of my recommended picture settings below.PROS: - Budget 4K - Miracast - You can stream media files through your home network over WiFi - Minimal bezel - Sound quality is great (for a large screen with downward firing speakers) - 4 HDMI ports + 2 USBMIDDLE - Wallpaper mode is a neat yet silly feature. When the TV is turned off it displays high resolution images on the screen at a low power state. I like this feature, but the minimum amount of time to keep it on is 3 hours. I wish there was a way to make it only 1 hour. I sometimes watch TV late at night, and I don't want a bright screen lighting up my room for 3 hours. - Physical TV buttons are located on the back of the TV. This helps minimize the bezel, and it's better than Samsung's odd "joystick". But if you're like me and you get up to turn on the TV just be aware that they are on the back.CONS: - Physical stand(s) on this television are on the end instead of the middle which requires a long console (at least 48") - For this being 2015 I think this TV is a bit thicker than the competition - 4K upscaling? Everything I've seen is displayed in it's native resolution. - Apps are atrocious (see more below) - Video lag is terrible* (see more below) - The remote is the bane of this television's existence! (but you can control your Firestick with it...)You will still be using your Xbox, Roku, Firestick, etc with this TV. There is no Amazon Instant Video app included. Netflix, Youtube, and Vudu are a few of the built-in apps, and they are horribly unoptimized for this television. Worse yet, you cannot use custom AV settings for apps (or at least I couldn't figure out how). This means the dreaded Soap Opera Effect and motion enhancements remain on while you're using Sharp's Smart Central Apps unless you switch it to GAME mode.My settings are heavily borrowed from another reviewer, Gregory Haney. I suggest you try both of ours and see which is better.AV Mode: GameBacklight: +16Contrast: +20Brightness: 0Color: +7Tint: 0Sharpness: +5AdvancedMotion Enhancement: OffActive Contrast: OffFilm Mode: OffDigital Noise Reduction: Middle*Even with these settings I can hardly enjoy my television for more than playing games. My wife doesn't notice the motion jutter, but I can. Streaming shows like Fringe or Lost through Netflix on the Firestick has terrible motion lag and I think it's because this TV is only 60Hz. Playing around with the Motion Enhancement setting really has remedied the problem. With all of that being said I have decided on a 2-Star "I Don't Like It" review.

Defective TV: both audio nor visual worked. Audio so fuzzy anyone speaking on TV was incoherent, screen flickered every 1-2 seconds. Right out of the box. LG is a dicey proposition, and the other reviews here saying they too got a lemon back up you take your chances with LG's poor quality.
Quit working after one year.
May 1, 2017
Purchased this in August of 2015. It worked fine for the first year but now it won't power up at all and it is out of warranty. Kind of an expensive investment for just over a year. I won't be buying LG products again.
I will never but an LG product again!!
August 4, 2016
If I could rate this zero stars I would. My 13-year old bought this TV with his own money. In less than 13 months the picture went out. I called LG to see what I could do about repair, they said the only thing I could do was purchase a warranty for $300!! I will never buy an LG product again!
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS TV!!!!
April 2, 2016
Bought this as a gift for my boys to have as a little gaming tv in their bedroom. The first one arrived on time and in great shape. Plugged it in via HDMI to demo and pick the best picture setting. I noticed right away that when viewing the tv from off to the right hand side the panel appeared to be a washed out yellow gray tone.
From the left it was a typical blue black tone like most Lcd screens. I tried many different content types as well as different HDMI inputs.
This TV was just plain defective. I contacted Amazon who graciously shipped out another via 2 day shipping method which arrived on a Saturday. Quickly repacked the old TV for shipping and set up the new one. Sure enough it has the same exact issue! Washed out yellow gray tone from the right viewing angle and normal when sitting off to the left. I have no other explanation for this besides my bad luck or this is a poorly manufactured TV from LG.
For customers reading this please note that I am no amateur and own a RCA , SHARP, VIZIO and Westinghouse TV set. Nothing against LG and their products but this experience has definitely changed my opinion about their products. I will be returning both defective TV's for a full refund.
Buyers beware.

Backlight crapped out in year and a half.

Honestly, nothing but problems from the very start.Barely lasted a year and a half and now backlight is already shot.Beautiful screen, when it works. Has a ton of features, which I never used.My older LG which this replaced was a smarter, simpler, all around better buy by far. I hate LG in general and it erks me to say that, but it's true.I found this tv on an absolutely wicked deal and snapped it up, but only getting a year and a half out of it? That's just wrong. And manufacter's warranty only covers a year... wanted nearly as much to fix it as replace it. Yeah... no.
Sharp Aquos LC-50UB30U 50-Inch 4K Ultra HD
December 23, 2016
Purchased this product in November 18th 2015 and as of today (December 23 2016) the TV is 13 months old...therefore out of warranty. I have had 3 other Sharp Aquos TV's and due to their reliability I did NOT purchase the extended warranty (lesson learned). I concur with the other reviewers comments about the remote and lack of apps for the "smart TV' function. However these problems pale in comparison to the problem that greeted me this morning when I turned on the TV. I now have a "dim" band that covers the lower 1/3 of the TV screen. According to my step-brother technician, this is probably caused by a partial failure of the LED edge lighting for the screen. And due to the way parts are packaged it would be cheaper to replace this TV than to repair it (parts cost with shipping would run about $350.00 for a $500 TV). He further related that this is a problem with all new manufacturers and appears to be planned obsolescence adopted by the industry (made in China). The takeaway from this experience is if you are buying an LCD TV produced after 2014, get the extended warranty and be prepared to buy a new TV at the expiration of that warranty. Essentially you are now just "leasing" a TV with the cost per year equal to the cost/ divided by 4 years. And anything beyond the 4 years is a bonus.I would also suggest that you purchase from a "local" store like Walmart or Best buy so as to facilitate repair or replacement (no shipping hassle).
Wosrt TV and warranty support ever
September 21, 2016
This is the worst TV we have ever owned. 1) The remote that is included with the unit is small and flimsy. You have to push each button multiple times before it will work. Because of this, the button cell battery has to be replaced every 1-2 months. Many of the functions that I use on a daily basis like "sleep timer" are now buried in on screen menus instead of having shortcut keys on the remote. 2) Within a few weeks of receiving the TV, a large dark spot started to appear on the screen. When I contacted Sharp support for the warranty, I was asked to go thru multiple weeks of troubleshooting and emailing screenshots/videos. We were contacted via email and phone by different people each week and asked for additional photos and videos. After more than a month, Sharp finally agreed to send a replacement unit. 3) The first replacement unit that arrived had a broken foot. It also had a larger issue. When you press any of the favorite channel buttons on the remote, it resets the TV. After this reset, you have to reprogram every setting including channel setup, WIFI setup, and Smart TV. 4) After multiple additional calls back to Sharp and a great deal of confusion about how the issue could be occurring, they finally agreed to send another replacement. 5) The new TV arrived and the screen looked like it had been hit with a sledge hammer. The delivery company told me to refuse delivery and call Sharp again for a 3rd replacement to be setup. I have now been several months without a fully functioning TV. I am currently waiting for Sharp to authorize the 3rd product exchange.

Bought this TV during Amazon Prime Day in 2015. The TV sat in a box for 6 months while I went through a move. After 6 months of using the TV it began having issues. Will turn itself off during the power on stage, and Sharp customer service is terrible. Began happening just past the 1 year mark of the purchase. They were no help whatsoever. I'll stick with Samsung and Sony in the future.

Product look good at first

Product look good at first... but after a few hours of use, the audio stopped functioning... the tv had to be powered off and on again for the audio to come back... It kept doing it repeatedly so defective right from the get-go. I was willing to deal with that because I didnt particulary want to go through the hassle of returning it... but then the Apps access was not at all user-friendly. One of the reasons I purchased this TV was because I have Amazon Prime.. i couldn't get it to work on the TV.I returned it promptly. Still waiting for my refund.
