Makes an Excellent Cup of Coffee...and More
August 12, 2017
Most importantly this makes an excellent cup of coffee when paired with my favorite K-cup, Kirkland Pacific Bold. The tray design makes immediate, no-drip cleanup easy. I like the fact the water tank is permanently enclosed in the machine and the size of the cup brewed is based on the amount of water poured into the reservoir. At first I tried using my coffee cup to pour the water in before brewing, but invariably water also found its way down on the counter or all over the machine. Scrounging around the kitchen for a better way I found the perfect tool for getting water only where I wanted it in the exact quantity desired, "Farberware Classic 2-Cup Gravy Separator" works as though it was designed for the purpose. Note, it is important to read the manual and follow the setup instructions for the machine to work. One cannot pull it out of the box, plug it in, throw some coffee and water in it, and get a cup of coffee. It is as simple as throwing in coffee and water once it is setup, but don't get ahead of yourself or you will be very frustrated. There was a point in the setup process where I realized I would have encounter a huge mess if I had not bothered with the instructions. Fortunately, I saw a warning about reading them in a review so I thought I'd help propagate that good advice. Each morning I put coffee in the machine, put my cup in place, and by the time I get the water poured into the top the machine is ready to brew a nice, very hot cup of coffee that I am drinking a few moments later. The versatility of the multi-tray design is a nice bonus and I have also enjoyed some good cups of tea utilizing both the hot water tray that simply puts very hot water in the cup for a tea bag and utilizing the "pod" tray with the tea bag in it—perfect for Celestial Seasonings tea bags. I cannot think of a better purchase for someone who enjoys a variety of hot beverages on a daily basis.
If You Want The Best Tasting Coffee - Buy The Best Tasting Coffee Maker
April 23, 2017
I have had coffee made almost every way possible: vacuum (immersion); French Press (immersion); drip (several different models); percolator (several different models). I have even had Cowboy Coffee where the grounds are thrown in, an entire egg (including shell) is mashed in, boiled then set aside, watching the entire mess sink to the bottom, leaving clear delicious egg coffee. I have never had a bad cup of egg coffee. (this is similar to how the Swedes make it except they don't use the egg & they put the coffee into a cheesecloth bag). There has been several of the better K-Kup makers as well.I buy some of the best coffees available - grinding it myself. But I have never enjoyed my coffee like I am now with this unit. I mostly used the loose grind attachment, but even using the refillable K-Cup attachment, my coffee has NEVER tasted better. My thinking is the hotness of the water, plus their PULSE feature, is making the difference.
My most loved and used appliance
March 22, 2017
I cannot express how much I love this coffee maker. I've waited over a year to write my review. I must say that this might not be for everyone because it takes longer than a Keurig for the initial warm up. You also can't use distilled water (I have a Brita filter that is fine, but water out of my Zero Water pitcher will not work just as distilled will not brew in this). Lastly the initial set up on the first use can be infuriating if you are not sure what you are doing. As some have posted, it can be a little loud and occasionally drip or splatter when the brew cycle is complete.BUT with those couple things out of the way, this brews HOT coffee that has the freshest and strongest (meant in a good coffee way) taste that I have ever experienced with a single cup brewer. If you follow the recommended measurements of 8 ounces of water for a k-cup and use the pulse brew setting, K-cup coffee has never tasted this good from a Keurig. What I love even more is using ground coffee in this, which on the Pulse Brew setting tastes Coffee Shop quality. Following the initial warm up, the brew cycles are very quick and it's also great for just plain hot water. Tea brewed in this is quick, hot and tasty as well. I own few appliances that I love and use as much as I use this in so many different ways. One other unusual thing about this model is that it does not have an on/off switch. Since I don't like to leave it on when I'm not at home, I ended up buying an outlet adapter with an on/off switch which would be just like using that type of switch on the machine itself. There are a few attachments (K-cup, Fresh ground and tea baskets) to store for this, but I use them all and finding a place for them is well worth it.Love, Love, Love this coffee maker!!
MOST FLAVORFUL COFFEE, TEA, HOT CHOCOLATE WE'VE EVER HAD!
January 23, 2017
We love this coffee maker. I do a lot of research before purchases and was leery about mixed reviews. It's the best coffee we've ever had--much more flavorful! I thought it would be an inconvenience to fill the water for each cup, but it's not at all. We keep a clear measuring cup near the pot and play around with how much water we want.We had been using only k cups; now I'm hooked on Dunkin Donuts Hazlenut ground coffee and Junior Mint k cups. Hubby uses Senseo pods, ground dark roast DD, and k cups. So easy to switch drawers. The tea is unbelievably good; hard to believe you don't have to let the bags soak until flavorful enough and worry about discarding them. We always use the pulse feature, which seems to infuse the additional flavor. We had a small problem with one of the drawers...called Bunn and they sent a new one out right away, no questions asked!
Hot, strong coffee! Make paper filters for easier clean up using loose grounds tray.
April 27, 2015
We had been brewing single servings of coffee using the Hario pour over method. While this made a delicious cup of strong coffee, the process took enough time that the coffee wasn't as hot as we liked when completed. The reason we changed to single serve brewing, is to avoid having to microwave coffee throughout the day, so lukewarm Hario coffee defeated this purpose.I am not a fan of the K-cup because it's wasteful and expensive. This Bunn is the answer! We primarily use the ground coffee drawer. Two packed scoops of (french or italian roast) coffee always using the pulse button makes an awesome and strong cup. The "crema" that ends the brew process is a nice touch too.The coffee is HOT . . . just the way we like it. I drink my coffee black, so I have to wait a minute for the coffee to cool. I'd much rather wait, than have my first sip be lukewarm and blah. My husband uses a Bamix to whip some cold milk in his mug, then brews saraight into the froth. With the hot coffee dripping right into the cold froth, his coffee is the perfect temp when the brew cycle is complete.Even though we drink coffee morning and night, I still didn't like the idea of leaving this machine "on" all the time. We plugged a Belkin power conserve switch into the outlet, and the Bunn into this switch. I turn the switch on before I fill the water and the grounds tray, and it's not a long wait till it's ready and the green light is on.* * one note, the only slight con about the ground coffee basket I can mention, is that I wished there were disposable filters made for this. I searched and found many suggestions online however, I actually I easily created my own.Using those common and inexpensive 8-10 cup Mr. Coffee filters that are available everywhere in mega packs of 1,000 for $1.00 (exaggerating, but they truly are silly cheap), I cut them down and now have mini filters that make clean up, and cup-after-cup brewing a breeze.I will post photos, but in a nutshell, take about a dozen of those filters, fold them in half, and cut away about an inch from the outer diameter. Open them up, then cup them in your hand and scrunch them into a smaller pouch filter form. 2 scoops of coffee into the filter, then fold over the excess to make your own quasi coffee pod. You've just created mini filters that fit perfectly in the ground coffee drawer.** pulling these filter pods out of the drawer is easier if done right away. If left in the drawer for a while, the filters tend to weaken and will tear when you try to pull them out. If you find you've left them in and they don't come out cleanly, turn the tray upside down over a trash can, and push the nub on the bottom of the tray. This pushes out the bottom of the tray and will eject the pod into the trash.
Glad I Waited for This
November 24, 2012
I did my homework and researched all of the single cup brewers. After spending a lot of time reading, I decided what I really wanted was the My Cafe MCU. Had to wait for the release, but pre-ordered it on Amazon. So very glad that I waited, it was well worth it. Bunn sent 4 sample pods with the coffee and I found that if you used the pulse option with the brew that they make a good 14 oz. cup of coffee. I also have used my own ground coffee and, I don't know how Bunn did it, but the bitterness that was in the coffee when I used my multi-cup coffee maker was gone. I don't know if I'll be using the K-Cups, they're very pricey and I don't really need them, maybe for a party, but right now I'm happy with the pods and ground coffee.I was used to having a larger cup of coffee in the morning and I thought that only being able to brew 14 oz. was going to mean that I would have to brew a second cup, but it was more than enough. As I sat with coffee and took the last sip, I realized that this was the first time in a long time that I had actually finished my morning coffee. If I wanted, it would only take a minute or so to have another fresh cup.The only down side that I see, is that I now need a shorter travel mug. When using the ground coffee attachment, the clearance is only about 7" and that's a lot shorter than the travel mugs I have now. That being said, I love the My Cafe MCU.Would I recommend this? Absolutely, I recommend this to anyone who loves a GREAT cup of coffee!UPDATE: Found this on Amazon: Contigo Autoseal Randolph Stainless Steel Travel Mug Vacuum Insulated, 16-Ounce and it works perfectly with the My Cafe MCU!

1 month and loving it!
February 9, 2017
We are loving this flexible coffee machine. We've had it for about a month and so far, it's exactly what we wanted. We use it daily on the pot side and a few times a week on the single side. There was a plastic smell when we took it out of the box and while we were running the first batch of water through both sides, per instructions. But we never tasked plastic in the coffee and it hasn't smelled like plastic after that first day. We always use filtered water, so maybe that helps? On the single side, we have used K-cups and they work well (as long as we follow the "press down" instructions). We have also used ground coffee on the single side using the included mesh basket, but we do find it's a bit annoying to have to clean that basket out, so we tried soft pods and they work well (although they are harder to find). We don't mind having to fill the water each time we use it, for the amount that we want to brew. It's quick and simple..We're very happy customers!** Addition 2 days later ** After I wrote this, we had the problem others had experienced on the single side where almost no coffee comes out (the water just evaporates through the top, and the machine gets very loud). I'm told this is similar to a Keurig pot, and the solution for Keurig also works for this... open up a paper clip and use it to clean out the little metal opening that pokes down into the kcups. This gets clogged with grinds and no water can get through, so it backs up and then evaporates. I plan to proactively clean this out every so often.
This is a great machine. K cups don't leak when you remove ...
January 18, 2017
People complain about the littlest things. This is a great machine. K cups don't leak when you remove them. The carafe plate being hot is not an issue, don,t touch things that don't need to be touched. No funny taste that I could detect. Just a good machine all around.
To help everyone I have decided to provide this review in hopes that more information will provide a better experience for all
December 3, 2016
This coffee maker works well if you understand how the design works. To help everyone I have decided to provide this review in hopes that more information will provide a better experience for all. To clairify I dont work for nor am i affiliated with the manafacture in anyway shape or form nor have i been given any compensation for my time. That being said lets move on. I have read reviews of people where they complain about the pot being turned on when they brew on the single serve side and how it takes longer to brew, well for those of you that are unaware all traditional coffee brewers have a channel inside the heating element for the carafe that they pump the water through to heat it prior to it being drawn back up and deposited onto the coffee grounds so when your using the single serve side i would recommend that you keep about 2 cups of water in the carafe or remove it so you dont burn your pot. Obviously on kcup only models the heating element is placed elsewhere due to the fact that there is no carafe thereby making the travel for the water much shorter and resulting in a faster brew. Secondly people have complained about the kcup not being punctured on top well if you dont press down on the flap on the front of the single serve side which says press down it wont lift the cup enough to fully puncture it and you will end up with water coming out of it. Also if you put a kcup in there but dont select the kcup option and leave it on grounds the coffee pot will pump the water too fast for the little cup and it will cause an overrun of water resulting in a spill. So please make sure that you select all of the options correctly as this coffee pot needs your input for it to do its job correctly. For the few people who have stated that there is a plastic taste to the coffee some watersheds have minerals or other things in them naturally that can have an adverse effect on certain types of plastic. As this plastic is listed as BPA free and for those that are unaware BPA is utilized as a plastic hardener so BPA free plastics are going to be a bit softer and thus more prone to being affected by the many trace pollutants that are in our water supply. So for those of you who are experiencing this issue i would reccomend trying bottled or distilled water and see if that doesnt make a difference for you. To address the concerns regarding having to put the exact amount of water in for the single serve side you you have to understand that in order to save your counterspace the company made this coffee pot with one main resovouir and one main pump so that is something you will have to learn to live with and really the only major trade off that you will experience in this machine at least from my perspective. So in conclusion this is a great machine if you are willing to understand that multiple functionalities will require a little more information as well as input from the end user. Thanks for reading my review to the end and have a great day.
Awesome Dual Optioned Coffee Pot
October 30, 2016
My mom has this coffee pot so I decided to get one as well because I loved it. I love the fact you can make a single cup OR a big pot of coffee all in one machine. Serving you as a keurig and your average coffee pot was such a good idea. Brews a good tasting coffee, I have had no problems with mine. My coffee did not smell like plastic what so ever. I was super excited I saved $30-$40 by ordering online vs buying at Walmart. Only downside to this coffee pot is that it seems to take a bit longer to brew. However, I would highly recommend this coffee pot, I love it!!
Coffee machine that does it job and does it well
January 11, 2016
Husband's review (not Wendy's);There aren't too many things in life in which I say to my parents "hey mom/dad that was a good quality product you bought there"; we just have different mindsets when it comes to buying things. My parents mentality seems to be quantity over quality and just replace it in a few years, I want mine to last a long time. I was surprised one day when I looked at my parent's kitchen to see a new coffee maker that replaced the old GE coffeemaker that belonged to my grandparents (model B1SDC-1) that has been in service since the 1970s (yes that thing was built to last!). I thought this must be some type of coffee maker that will not make it past 1 year with the amount my dad drinks along with his buddies that stop by on the weekends working on old cars and talking whatever it is they talk about.I gave this coffee maker a few tries and even used it k-cup function. I was pleasantly surprised by its quality and durability. This machine just keeps brewing and brewing. After seeing the thing perform its duty of brewing coffee for 3 months for my parents and my dad's friend, I jumped the boat and decided to purchase one for my wife as she is a heavy drinker of coffee. To this date, not one single complaint and she and I absolutely love it. One particular program I like about it is the ability to brew coffee "Bold" as I like my coffee strong and not taste like water. Good job Hamilton Beach.
Better Than Expected
April 15, 2015
After 10 yrs, my Cuisinart coffeemaker quit, and since we don't drink as much coffee as we used to, I really wanted the single serve, but still needed the carafe option for the same reasons others have mentioned. (I appreciate the reviews as they answered questions I didn't even think to ask.) Admittedly, I was a Cuisinart snob, but have come to my senses after using this coffeemaker for a month. It has surpassed my expectations. The only concern was reading a consumer report stating the carafe burner also turns on while using the single serve side. (FYI - 20k sold and 0 reported injuries from same report.) So, to avoid accidental burns, I fill the carafe 1/4 full with very warm water, (so I don't crack the glass) and set in on the burner while making single servings. The next trip to the kitchen, it's cooled, and I empty and rinse the carafe. To me, that's a minor issue, and I love the duo feature. HB thought through so many little details and gave us a lot for the price. Carafe doesn't leak while pouring, easy to read water measurements, clock has a blue 'night light', and it has a surprisingly small footprint. Easy to move while cleaning the kitchen. Other reviewers have already hit the majority of high points. Our favorite coffee comes from the Coffee Beanery, and while we've always purchased their whole bean to grind fresh, they've added single serve, which we ordered, and found it's as good as fresh. Highly recommend this coffeemaker to anyone who likes hot drinks.

Great coffee
May 13, 2017
I would have given this 5 Stars, except I wrestled with the darned thing for a long while before I figured out the trick. I have read all the reviews about the leaking - and that is true. But I finally discovered THE TRICK!!!! If the instruction manual had been clear about seating the K-cup in the bottom of the dispenser BEFORE closing the lid, all the mopping and moaning could have been avoided. If you will firmly press the K-cup down before you close the lid, your leaks will disappear!! At least, mine did.Other than that - I LOVE this coffeemaker. It makes great, very hot coffee, and is far superior to any Keurig I have ever used. I highly recommend this to anyone considering a single serve coffee maker. Bunn is known for their quality - evidently not so much for their instructions. ;)
Satisfied with purchase
February 19, 2017
We purchased this eight months ago through Amazon as a "Like New" item at a sixty dollar discount. We use the MCU daily for coffee, tea, and hot water. At one point we experienced water "leaking" while brewing from the front and back of the coffee pod tray while on the pulse setting. Removing the Sprahead and cleaning the seal solved the problem (step by step instructions on YouTube). My husband and son prefer this coffee maker over our previous Keurig. I initially thought they'd find it inconvenient to add water each time a cup of coffee/tea/water was made, but hubby and son said it's no big deal. I clean the Sprayhead every six weeks (takes less than 5 minutes), flush with vinegar every couple of months, and clean the Water Probes every three months.
Solid 4.5/5. Only two cons to the design.
December 2, 2016
I really like this machine. It's an all in one type of beverage maker. I love being able to switch from coffee (for the wife) to tea (for me) and not have to taste coffee in my tea. The brewing temp is just right. Overall I'm extremely happy with this purchase. Why only a 4 star review? Two cons. One: Filling it with water via a coffee cup leads to a mess on the counter. Somewhat annoying, but tolerable. Two: cleaning the loose coffee holder is kind of a pain in the butt. Lucky for me that's my wife's problem.
Better than a Keurig
July 16, 2016
Makes a better cup of coffee than my Cuisinart Keurig. Having the separate drawers is handy. I mostly use the one for ground coffee. The coffee comes out stronger and more full bodied than my Keurig with a K-cup adapter for your own ground coffee. I noticed it right away. I now taste the the nuances in the coffee whereas with the Keurig it seemed watered down. I havent tried this unit's dedicated K-cup drawer yet, but it looks well built.Making a cup is quick. Overnight it goes into standby (LED turns red). Pushing in a drawer wakes it up and it is ready to brew in about 30 seconds (LED turns green). Subsequent cups are immediate. Its also nice that it is relatively small so it doesnt take up counter space - although you will need a drawer or cupboard to store the extra drawers. Its worth mentioning that the K-cup drawer pierces the K-cup, so when you use the "hot water only" drawer for oatmeal, soup, or tea it is not tainted with coffee remnants like a regular Keurig would be.One minor gripe is that the coffee grounds drawer has a plastic piece that snaps in and covers the hinge area of the top of the basket - it keeps popping off. I eventually lost it when dumping coffee grounds. But thankfully it is not even needed. The top of the basket snaps right in at the hinge and the cover piece is mostly for "decoration".Overall I like this coffee maker much better than the Cuisinart Keurig which rates at the top of all Keurig machines.
Takes a bit of a learning curve
July 30, 2015
This might be overkill. I love the instant hot water. Used the freshly ground cup, and it was rather a mess. Don't have pods, but may get some later. So far, the coffee in the k-cups has been pretty good, I bought this one: San Francisco Bay OneCup, Variety Pack, 72 Single Serve Coffees. I find that if I use 12 ounces of water and the pulse cycle, the coffee is still not strong, but better than running it through just the brew cycle. A tip I found is to use a larger cup than 12 ounces to keep the pulse water from splashing out of the cup. I've only had it for two days, and there was a bit of a learning curve to it to figure out what strength is best for us. At this point, I think I will like it more and more once I figure the whole unit out, and how to use it with different strengths of coffee.Update 5/17/2016. I'm not sure I would buy this again, but I like that it doesn't take up much space on my kitchen counter. It too often, has to be "nursed" along, and for the price I paid - $169, it shouldn't have to be pampered.May 2017. Too hard to clean. I thoroughly cleaned it, ran 14 oz white vinegar through it twice, a toothbrush doesn't work, so used Q-tips. Too many pieces and parts in the top after unscrewing the lid. After I ran two max levels of vinegar through it, it took 11 max level cups of clear water before I was able to get clear water OUT of it. I admit to waiting a month too long to clean it, but....we were gone a month when it didn't get used. I'm going to replace it with the Hamilton Beach Brew Station.
Never going back to Keurig!
April 6, 2015
My family has owned BUNN coffee machines for as long as I can remember. But when I went off to college all I wanted was a Keurig because that was the it-new-thing. I stood by my Keurig for the past 5 years, but when it came to buy a new one I was hesitant because of the Keurig 2.0 reviews. I love using my own coffee grounds (who has the money to spend on those cups anyway?) and my dad kept insisting I follow in his footsteps and get a BUNN. Lo and Behind BUNN makes a single-cup coffee maker! I absolutely love it! I don't know how, but it legitimately make a better cup of coffee than the Keurig, plus it's much more versatile. Here are some points:PROS:*Fast coffee! Even when it needs to "reheat"it only takes a minute*4 different "drawers" which allows me to make whatever I want--Kcups, Pods, plain grounds (yay!), tea bags, and just hot water (without getting that coffee taste)*Each cup tastes much stronger than the Keuig's (and I am using the exact same coffee as before--even from the same bag!)*The "ground coffee" drawer does NOT need filters--which is great! I'm used to the reusable K-Cups so it's basically the same thing--metal mesh that you just dump the coffee into, and then clean out afterwards. Saves on money and eco-friendly!*The Pulse setting is really cool. It simulates the slow pour/hand pour coffee and really does taste much stronger! If I'm not in a rush in the morning I do that (since it takes a little longer to brew)*The "ground coffee" drawer holds 2.5 as much coffee as my KCups did, so that means I can essentially make 2 cups at a time, instead of just one. This is great when I'm filling up my thermos in the morning. I only have to wait for one brew cycle instead of two or three!CONS:*It's louder than the Keurig, but not "wake everyone up in the apartment" loud. So it's not really a bad thing, just something I noticed*The manual is a must-read (or at least a must-glance). This is a bit more particular than the ready-set-go Keurig style. But once you read it, it's super easy to use!*After reading the manual twice I couldn't find specific instructions on how to clean the drawers themselves. They have de-scaling instructions, but nothing about if the drawers are dishwasher safe or not. I've been handing washing just to make sure, but it would be great if they could go into the dishwasher. Maybe I missed that part of the manual? But I couldn't find anything about it.Overall, I LOVE it! Highly recommend!

Truly a Flexible Brew
June 8, 2017
I have a Keurig but wanted something that would make more coffee on occasions. I love the coffee ground thing that comes for the single serve side, you can put more coffee in to get a strong brew. I dislike you can only put 14 oz in at a time, annoying but doable. There is definitely a "taste" that comes out on both sides but the Keurig did that too. After 3 pots on the pot side, the taste is almost gone. It is still on the single serve side but I imagine it will disappear too. The device for the K-cup is different and it has kept a piece of plastic that I needed to remove but again doable. It does take awhile to do a single serve owing to the fact that it does not have heated water in a reservoir. But it takes time for the first brew on a Keurig also. Nothing is perfect but I think this system is better then the Keurig because it is a Flexible Brewing System. Also I would never get a Keurig again due to the licensing farce.
Carafe not secured. Be careful when removing from the box.
March 31, 2017
This would easily be a 5 star review except that the carafe packaging was open at the bottom and the carafe was loose in the FlexBrew when it arrived. When I took the FlexBrew out of the box, which was difficult because of no place to take hold of it, as soon as it was clear of the box the carafe fell on the floor and shattered. I have contacted the manufacturer's support but it is too soon to have gotten an answer. I just want the carafe replaced. The FlexBrew is fine. I will update this when/if I hear from them.I did try the single cup feature and it worked very well and brewed a nice cup of coffee in under 5 minutes.Update: Quick response from Hamilton Beach. Carafe was replaced within five days. Rating increased to 5 stars.
No Problems....give it a try!!!!!
November 3, 2016
I was so nervous to order this because I saw a lot of bad reviews. It had the features I was looking for, so when my Keurig died last week I decided to give it a try. So far, I am so glad I did! It makes a great cup of coffee, and I had absolutely NO PLASTIC TASTE OR SMELL in mine at all. I had no problem with an Error message--just fill your mug up and dump it in! You definitely need to read the directions because you need to push the K-cup firmly down (unlike the Keurig where you just set it in) until you hear a click, and then push the other lever down too before you brew.Features I love: Makes both pot of coffee or single cup I have the option of using a K-cup or coffee grounds--that is FANTASTIC! Coffee is good! I can program it to automatically start brewing a pot at a certain time Looks nice Washes easilyFeatures that I don't love: Hot plate gets warm even when I'm only using a K-cup (although the pot shuts off right after so it only gets hot for 2 min It is plastic...so it feels a bit cheaper--but it is; I got it for a great price!! I have to put water in each time for a K-cup (not really a big deal to me, but inconvenient for some probably)All in all I am very happy! As long as it keeps working, it gives me everything I need and want! Don't be afraid to purchase!
Very Versatile, Easy Cleaning and Fast Brewing
May 16, 2016
Like most of the reviewers I bought this for the versatility and lower price than a Keurig. I have been using it for several months now and very pleased with it. It brews pots and singles very fast. I have used both k-cups and loose fill on the single side and it works well with both.Pros: Very versatile and easy to use, heats and brews fast. Baskets and k-cup holder are dishwater safe for easy cleaning. Auto shut-off means no worries you left the unit on and no burned up pots of coffee. Water level sensor keeps singles from running over if you load too much water.Cons: Heating element comes on carafe side even when using single side (this needs to be fixed and could be a safety hazard). Don't leave empty carafe on heater if making single cups. Some hot chocolate k-cups spill powder through into cup so make sure your cup is under the k-cup holder when you insert it. Larger travel mugs like the Contigo 24 oz will not fit. Use the carafe side and then pour into the mug.Overall this is a great value coffee station and takes up minimum space. I recommend it to my friends, but the heating element coming on the carafe side even when using the single side was a cheap cost saver to the manufacturer and needs to be fixed. So for this I took off one star.
His and hers.
January 4, 2015
Mind you, I just got this the day before Christmas (2014), so problems may arise. However, out of the box and onto my counter, it's a winner. My boyfriend has been more than satisfied with the full carafe side. Coffee is always hot, smooth and done in an efficient amount of time. As for my side, the one cupper, I am also very satisfied. I have not, to date, had any error messages due to water levels and my coffee of choice has always brewed a nice, hot cup of Joe. The set up is fairly simple and straight forward and clean up (i.e. removing the pod and rinsing the basket) is just as easy and quick. I only refrained from a 5 star rating because I don't like that the carafe heating element heats as my one cup is brewing. Just to prevent any possible damage to the plate or carafe, we keep a little water in the pot.I also want to note that we bought a variety pack of pods that contained two different makers of pumpkin spice - one brewed very weak and the other was delicious. My point is, it wasn't the pot, it was the brand that was weak. If you have the means and opportunity, get the variety pack and learn what brands, and flavors within those brands, are good or bad per your taste. Don't blame the coffee maker.

Everything we wanted at a great price, our main concern was the plastic infusion in the coffee as other product reviewers stated. Upon looking into the more recent reviews, no one had mentioned they had a problem. Nonetheless I did of course follow with a vinegar 30 min soak with 3 carafes and 3 single serve flushes. I did not smell any plastic residue much before and definitely after. I'm used to my cuisinart (that finally conked out after 14 years. That was a good run) it had hard shell plastic and wouldn't leach BPAs so Being concerned now with the thin pliable plastic lid and basket I wondered about BpA in my beverages and all the disease I might get from drinking toxin BpA. Why people aren't more concerned about this I don't know, maybe they have good insurance, but I rather keep my body in good working condition instead. Anyway beyond my personal opinion, I researched and found out that through a good soul who took time to research BpA free coffee makers That this one was on the list. So I'm happy about this.Taste: it's so good coffee! Tasting better than the cuisinart but that was older. I put it on the strong setting and it's just right. 6 scoops (2 per cup, 12 cups) of trader joe coffee fits the basket with coconut creamer and it's delishioso!Love the fact I can run through for a single cup and it came with its own basket or you can use the special insert provided for the k cup.Directions were easy to follow. Gosh hurray! The only thing I have to get used to is the lid flips open easily pouring coffee all over. This happens when your trying to get the last out. I'm not sure I haven't tried it but maybe cuisinarts carafe will work it's a screw on.It should come with a plastic measuring scoop. If this review is helpful let me know by giving me a thumbs up helpful review I like to know if it's worth my time reviewing stuff, and if it's helpful to you

Makes a good cup of coffee
March 13, 2016
Better than some Keurig's. I have had mine almost a year. I like it. I have had a problem with one of the baskets top breaking, which they fixed as soon as they could. However now it continues to leak water, slowly, enough to bug me. I guess there is nothing I can do about it. Not all k cups work with it. Some off brands won't close in the basket. In addition you can't just set any size cup under it. I like a good size coffee mug, so I have to transfer it from one size that fits under it to my mug.For the price and the name I would have expected a little better quality to be very honest. If you buy it, buy the two year protection to cover yourself. I wish I had. Overall it's a good coffee single cup, I think they could do some improvements, but it's worth the price they are now asking. I paid more last year.
I loved it, but less than 2 years for an ...
December 18, 2015
After going through 3 Keurig machines, I set out to find a more durable, longer lasting, single cup coffee maker for my home. All roads pointed to BUNN. I purchased it from Amazon on January 23, 2014 --- it died 2 days ago when I moved it from one counter to another. I have read the troubleshooting guide, I have change outlets, I have done everything as directed by the BUNN manual. The indicator light is on, but it will not brew, it will not pulse, it doesn't make a sound. While it worked, I loved it, but less than 2 years for an appliance is ridiculous. (and of course I don't have an extended warrantee. So here's my advice.... rather than spend over $150 on an electronic device that will inevitably break is less than 2 years... go back to the search page, look up stove top percolators and go back to the method that worked for many years. It is more eco-friendly, more reliable, and will fill the kitchen with that wonderful aroma of coffee. For those who like coffee at work... thermos!! As for me, after 4 different machines, I am done with single cup servers.... to much money, too much waste, too quick to break, and all those extra parts will be floating around forever!!
BUNN is still making great coffee makers.

This coffee pot is everything I expected. We bought it to replace a Kurig which had started leaking water internally. I read several reviews for this pot and although it was a little pricy, we went with it. It is the bomb. If you're looking for something that will take K-cups as well as other methods of making a great cup of coffee, then this is for you. This is the second part of the review of this coffee maker a year and a half after the original purchase. I have changed the rating from five stars to three. The reason is that with the K-Cup attachment, there's a rubber gasket that's supposed to seal the Kcup when the water is heated and squirted through the cup making the coffee. This is a hit or miss proposition as you never know when it will actually seal the cup, and often it blows water from every orifice in the pot, making a real mess. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's a mess. I called customer service at Bunn right after I bought it and the lady who helped me was friendly, talked me through several different tries to get it working properly, but failed to find a solution and made no offer to make it right or exchange it. My mistake was not returning it to Amazon when I had the chance, but we decided to keep it and work with the problem. Now, a year and a half later, it's more apt to make a mess than do it right. So now I'm just warning anyone who might be considering buying this product that you do so at your peril.
Quality control issues
December 3, 2014
I have never had any issues with this. I love it, it's perfect for my one daily cup of coffee that I have. Taste is great and it's great that I'm not bound to the "K-Cup", I prefer grounds. Wife uses it for tea and loves it as well. I liked it so much that I got my dad one for his birthday. I think they had some quality control issues because the first one he got, the water shot out the back of the basket. We took it apart to see if there was a broken seal, but could find no defects. We returned it and had another one sent to him (thanks Amazon), but three or four cups in, the same thing happened. He called the manufacturer and they sent him a new basket which has help up thus far. I really think it's a great product when it works properly, like I said I've had no issues with mine at all and have had it over two years. My dad has had to replace it and then replace the basket that holds ground in a matter of a month. Best guess is something with the grounds basket wasn't lining up and the high pressure this thing produces caused it to shoot out the back. The one BUNN sent to him probably came from a different production run and didn't seem to have this flaw. Because of my dads experience is why I subtracted two stars. When I originally bought it for him it was a 5 star item!
Parts failed after 6 months, but good customer service from BUNN
October 20, 2014
After 6 months of use, it started giving us problems. We only use it to brew coffee, just regular ol' ground coffee. One day it started shooting coffee out the sides. Through BUNN's customer service, we figured out it was the check valves, but it has been incredibly annoying trying to troubleshoot. They have YouTube videos to help you troubleshoot, which is nice, but still annoying to have to deal with. They are quick to send new parts and we got all new seals and new check valves. It's just annoying that, even with good care (i.e., using only filtered water, following instructions for keeping it clean, etc.), it only took 6 months for parts to fail.It makes a good cup of coffee though! Unfortunately, the problem kept occurring and we'd have to keep fixing it on a weekly basis. BUNN said it must be the water in our area. It may be "too soft" or something. What is great is that they're letting us mail it back to them for a full refund. Now that's a great company! We decided to get an AeroPress instead and like it much better.
Makes decent coffee but not without some idiosyncrasies
August 3, 2014
I've had it for a week and have so far used it with ground coffee and tea, both of which are served using 1 "drawer" only. My observations so far are as follows:Pros:1) Unassuming, no frills presence; doesn't stand out from other small items in my kitchen (toaster, blender) which's good.2) Not many moving parts, which means less things that could go wrong. The simplicity, however, could be treated as a problem as well - see the Cons #1.3) Wakes up in about 2 minutes (I always unplug it after use) and delivers in another 2. I can spend 5 minutes making coffee.4) Makes decent coffee/tea. If you're looking for a cappuccino, this's not your thing but for a morning cup comparable to Starbucks "tall blond", this meets the expectation.Cons:1) My biggest gripe is that the internal water tank can't be emptied. I sent the 1st one back because it wasn't making hot enough coffee and no matter what I did, it spilled water when I packed it. Finally I ran the hot water cycle 2-3 times and when it completely stopped dispensing water, let it sit upside down in sunlight for about 30 min. I was hoping that any water would seep out and evaporate. On a similar note, I think making the internal water tank transparent would give the machine a "cooler" look but that's a cosmetic issue and doesn't affect the rating here.2) The swinging lid on the top isn't clearly marked as swinging. Yes, there's a black arrow etched in black plastic that's very difficult to notice. Initially I tried to open it by pushing upward and good for me, it didn't. If I'd applied more force, the lid would've propped up and I'd have voided the warranty.3) As some other reviewers have mentioned, there's no on/off button. I always unplug the machine because I make 2 cups/day that doesn't justify having it on all the time. For those who need more caffeine, I can see how this could an annoyance.4) The final spray spills fine droplets of the beverage all over the kitchen counter, which's messy. This is more of a problem is you use the "pulse" feature, which I always do.

sometimes leaks
July 25, 2017
Even tho it should not leak once you take out the carafe to pour a cup, about 5 drops of coffee fall each time onto the burner. My burner on the carafe side is now warped and I can't clean the burnt coffee off very easily. The single serve brew side sometimes leaks water all over my counter while brewing, as if the water didn't make it down into the pod area and just pours out the top of the kcup holder. this happens once every 15 times I use that side. If you use the single brew basket with grounds, it does make a great single to 4 cups of coffee in a travel mug but the bottom of your cup will be full of grounds.
Could be better, could be worse.
July 29, 2016
I believe some compromises were made in the design to keep the price point where it is. The first thing noticed after unpacking is a bright warning label to use 14oz or less for single serves, otherwise you get an error with an 800 number to call if you can't clear it. The whole single serve side is finicky, with parts to swap out for K-cups or grounds. I got a nasty surprise the first time I poured out coffee from a full carafe: the channel on top of the handle funnels hot steam right back onto your thumb. I almost dropped the carafe. It takes about two minutes for the single serve side to brew your coffee, once the K-cup is in place and the (14oz or less) water has been dumped in. I've only made one full carafe and was distracted from my timing of it.

We bought this because our Mr. Coffee machine broke (after years). We also have a Keurig sitting next to it on the counter. When shopping for for new machine, came across this. Thought 2 for 1 and more counter space. Read reviews, and decide to purchase. Gave Keurig to my dad. The coffee side brews fine. We like strong coffee and it gets the job done. (you may have to add an extra scoop). The 1 cup side I'm sad to say is like all the reviews stated. It brewed with K-cup fine the first time...not so much after that. Did all the troubleshooting from the reviews read. Would get 1 good brew, and then it would slow brew. (troubleshoot, get 1 brew, rinse, repeat....) Not the same amount of water I put in would brew out. Where does that water go? I tried 1 cup "brew" basket. I was very generous with my scoop, and it brewed very weak. :-( The 1-cup side ends up being more work than it's worth. The regular pot works great! I really wanted this to work and gave it my all... but it's now been 60 days and too late to return... Forced to keep for now... Trying to get the Keurig back from my dad. Still searching for that perfect coffee machine. Please let me know if anyone finds it! ;-)
Nice in Theory, but not user friendly
January 15, 2016
We wanted a machine that would make single servings as well as pots for when we have a crowd. The pot side works fine with no problems. But the single serve side is lacking a little. It's a little complicated fixing the K-cup in the holder and the holder comes loose sometimes from the arm it hooks into, which hooks into the big drawer that you see in the picture. If you insert the cup holder backwards, it makes it very difficult to remove the drawer to make another cup because the K-cup gets pushed up and sticks the drawer in place. It does make a stronger cup of coffee than the Keurig, but it takes 4 minutes for the water to heat up and brew. And you have to pour water into the reservoir each time for a single serving. Going from a Keurig to this was kind of a let down. I really want it to work so that we can take the other coffeemaker off the counter. But since you can't depend on it, the Keurig has to stay. I'm considering sending it back.
What they say is true
August 11, 2015
I read just about every review on here for this before purchasing. Totally not convinced, I ordered it anyway for my new office. I really just wanted the ability to make a pod of coffee and a whole pot and not have to buy 2 machines. It came quickly because amazon is boss. That really has nothing to do with the machine but is noteworthy.Yes- the coffee has a plastic taste. Not the worst coffee ever but not the best either. Probably fully of BPAs....sigh. Im hoping that fades with use.It took me like 6 tries to figure out why the coffee wasnt brewing. It turns out that the part that pierces the top of the K-Cup didnt go all the way through even though it looked like it did. So i poked it with a knife and stuck it back in there. Then it worked. I read about this happening...seriously Hamilton Beach, make the razor like 5 millimeters longer and take care of this problem....Other than that, it looks nice. Its going to do the job. I am thankful i chose a spot really close to Starbucks for my new office location so that i have the option for better coffee when I want it however. Shame.
Not Bad, But Not Great
January 21, 2015
I purchased this product to replace a Keurig single cup brewer that had died. I chose this model because I also need to make a full pot of coffee on occasion. If I could give this machine two separate ratings (one for the single cup side and one for the full pot side) I would rate the single cup side with one star and the full pot side as 5.Over all the machine functions as described. I've had no problems with regard to the way it operates. I haven't noticed any off flavors or plastic taste that some others have reported. My main problem is that it uses way too much coffee to brew a single cup. On the full pot side I am using about 1/2 cup of coffee to make approximately 8 cups (not a full 12 cup pot). This is about what I usually use in other drip coffee makers. However, the single cup side uses about 3 tablespoons to make a 12 oz cup of rather weak tasting coffee. This is about double what I used in the Keurig to make a decent (but not great) cup. I've tried using a finer grind, but that doesn't help much. After two weeks of experimenting I gave up brewing coffee in the single cup side and now I just use the full pot side and make my standard 8 cup pot each morning. Now I use the single cup side only to heat water for tea. I'll probably use it until it stops working, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Strong machine or Weak K Cups?
October 13, 2017
We were pleased for an entire year with this coffee machine, until we tried the Kcup basket. Worked fine for two months, then started blowing grounds through the cup filters right at the end of the cycle. Tried other cups, found one that did not explode (Gevalier). Also, machine would not heat up once unplugged without a lot of gyrations. Bunn quickly sent a new unit. It is so much quieter than the old one, starts up right away when plugged in, but blows the filters on Green Mountain and McCafe cups, not so on Gevalier. Bunn tried to send just a new basket for kcup, but obviously not the fix, since this new one does the same thing. When the filter blows, grounds pour into the brewed coffee cup, rendering it undrinkable. I put a Mellita filter diaper on the cups, using a rubber band to hold in place, but the Bunn blew the diaper off as well. Now using Kcup coffee cut out of the cup and poured into the Bunn filter basket. By adding a paper filter, all works well. This new machine has the same inherent problem as the old one. Kcups cannot survive the pressure pulse at the end of brew. I have used the straight brew plus using pulsed brew. Same result. We will continue to use the machine in the non-Kcup mode, brews a great cup of coffee of tea.

August 9, 2017
Should have read the reviews prior to purchasing since I now see my problem is not unique. I owned this machine five months. It worked well at first. I maintained it as directed but after the first five months, it exploded during brewing, spewing hot coffee and grounds all over my cabinets. The first time I had just bent down to pick something up off the floor and the steaming hot grounds barely missed landing on my face. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought perhaps I had inserted the drawer incorrectly so the second time I made sure it was in tight and even held it in while it was brewing. 3/4 of the way through the brewing process, it again popped out dumping grounds and hot coffee on the cabinets and floor. A big pain to clean up. Two strikes it's out. I filed online over a week ago for a replacement or solution with no acknowledgement of my filing or answer from the company at this time-most companies at least respond with an auto email they are looking into it. This machine is much too pricey to be a "disposable".
SO disappointed!
August 4, 2017
SO disappointed. I had high hopes for the Bunn MCU, because it brewed ground coffee, tea pods AND k-cups. I liked the size and looks of the machine, but me measuring water for each cup was a hassle, and I didn't like the ground coffee at all. It was too thick and I would need paper filters too. Still I would have kept the coffee maker had it not just froze up on me one morning when I tried to brew a k-cup! I attempted to brew the k-cup just as I had the morning before, and the machine just wouldn't dispense the water. I read the troubleshooting and followed all the instructions with no luck, and even turned the machine off for a bit and tried starting all over. Again NO coffee. So I returned and went back to my old Keurig coffee maker.
Good Coffee, Very Unreliable Machine
July 2, 2017
I have had two of these expensive machines fail the same way in six months. I only use the scoop drawer, and I use Britta filtered water only. When it fails, it starts not dispensing the full amount of water, and it takes a LONG time (like 10 minutes) to complete its cycle. Sometimes then the red indicator flashes in a series of 4 flashes.I have cleaned them every few months with white vinegar, and have cleaned the screen. After this second failure I am done with it and went to the Hamilton Beach Scoop maker for 1/3 the price.
Not worth the price
April 20, 2017
This machine is just okay. The best part about it is the different baskets it comes with and the ability to brew just about any hot beverage you want. The variety of baskets along with the great reputation bunn has is why I bought this product. Other than that, I was left feeling underwhelmed. The baskets themselves don't seem to be made of very durable plastic. One of the hinges broke within the first couple days. It does brew good coffee, but for a machine of this price I expected a bit more. For example, there is no on or off switch meaning I have to plug in and unplug it every morning. It is also one of the noisier coffee makers I have had. I could have bought a less expensive machine and have been just as satisfied with it.
Poor design, returning
November 27, 2016
I wish this one had better design as I really liked its features. I'm returning because of the following issues:- Flawed drawer locking design: Other than pod drawer, all the other drawers wouldn't lock to the unit, and the unit won't brew. I had to adjust the kcup drawer to lock. I didn't want to deal with this from a brand new unit.- Always 'on' Water reservoir : There is no way to turn the unit off, other than unplugging from the outlet. As it was sitting on the counter I noticed it turned on/off presumably for quick brewing - I don't want water reservoir kept hot 24/7 for my 1 or 2 cups consumption per day.I'm returning this and getting Keurig K55 instead (with reusable cup)

Plastic Taste
June 8, 2017
So So many Cons with this machine. Ok so chain of events: I buy what I think is going to be a wonderful machine for single use as well as company use. Once I get the machine I wash all the parts as stated in the directions and brew my first cup of coffee. TERRIBLE. It tasted of such strong plastic and chemicals I felt sick just after the one sip. I should have noticed the smell but I chalked that up to it being a new machine. I decided to run a few cycles of vinegar to clean the machine out and hopefully put an end to this taste. I kid you not I used the entire gallon of vinegar and the taste did not change at all. It was so strong I thought it could be harmful so I decided I was going to return it. After a bit with Amazons customer service (they are the only reason this review gets 2 stars the machine gets a fat 0) I was refunded but told to keep the machine because they didn't want it back. I decided it was a free machine now so I was going to try everything I could possibly try to get this to work. Over the course of about a month I cleaned it every single day sometimes twice a day. Needless to say I now have a French press and I will never buy another coffee machine made out of plastic after my experience with this machine.

February 13, 2017
Well, I didn't get a plastic smell but it was extremely loud when I tried to brew a kcup. It didn't brew the full amount I poured in so I had to add more, thankfully I had a larger mug. After brewing, I thought it was done, but then it started up again despite the lights being off. I also had grounds in my coffee. I was so excited but this just does not live up to my expectations.
I love the convenience of the single serve side
February 13, 2017
I love the convenience of the single serve side, and having the option to do a full pot of coffee when I have guests. But the single-serve side only worked for about a year. I'm not sure what happened, but when on the single serve side, it started dumping grounds into the coffee, not pumping all the water out of the reservoir and/or only giving a partial cup of coffee. Of course, it was out of warranty by then. I still use it as a regular coffee pot, but may just go buy an inexpensive regular pot as it would take up less counter space. Definitely disappointed that it stopped working, as I loved it up until then. I would not recommend this.
Too many steps to get a single cup of coffee!
January 17, 2017
I bought this primarily so I'd have the option of a full pot or a single cup at a time. It does do that, BUT it takes too many steps and too much time in order to have just one cup. I went back to my Keurig....I put the cup in, press the button, and 20 seconds later I have a fresh, hot cup of coffee. With the FlexBrew, here are the steps: Make sure there is a little water in the carafe because that plate heats while the single cup is brewing. Run water into the cup you want to use so you'll have the right amount of water in the tank. Pour into tank. Insert k-cup into cup holder and press it down flush. Push cup holder into the FlexBrew. Turn the switch to singe brew. Press down hard so that the cup gets punctured. Wait 1 1/2 minutes for coffee to brew. Wait another 30 seconds for dripping to stop. I gave it two stars mainly because it does brew a good full pot of coffee, but I don't recommend it for a single cup of coffee.
Um...NO !
January 13, 2016
I don't like this brewer at all. You would think FlexBrew would be a Great thing. But, this doesn't reach GOOD. When you use single brew, you have to fill reservoir individually, which is a mess, dribbling all over, then the cup fills and splatters all over the machine, the counter top etc., there a beep to tell you it's done. But wait, it NOT done. It still drips for an minute, if you take your cup away when the find her beeper s off, you'll have huge mess. Another CON, the warmer plate for full pot is activated every time you use even the single brew. Which means you have to have water in the Pot at all times. Which also means, the pot sweats, so you have to clean the single brew system and the coffee pot when finished. And, when the single cup filter is finished, it drips all over after you dump the grounds, the holder is dripping on the floor, the counter, I've done more wiping up from splatters, dripping, it's a mess..I don't like this machine at all.
Read this honest review before you waste your time and money.

Tried to like the HB Coffee Brewer for a few days, it leaks coffee and does not brew properly. No matter the ground size or amount of coffee grounds- the single serve was way too weak, it runs clear and too fast. Tried it on Pod setting and tried it on the ground setting- No Difference. I thought the carafe side did a decent pot on Bold Setting, which slows the flow rate. Thank goodness for Amazon A Rated return service, I will be loyal to buying items that are high risk, mixed reviews, because Amazon backs the customer. There are a multitude of reviews, mixed, good and bad. I wanted a carafe/k-cup/single serve machine, this was the closest thing I could find for counter space. We are back to our Starbucks single serve and Keurig... If you need a coffee pot, that does all- This is not it.

If they are fine grinds then it makes it more difficult for the ...
October 10, 2017
I have purchased 3 total. One for me and the other two for family members. After almost a year the tray that holds loose grinds either explodes or leaks. On a few occasions, it literally exploded, shooting out to the kitchen floor, making a huge mess... Most of the time it makes a hissing exploding noise and leaks all over the place. I believe it has to do with the type of grinds you get. If they are fine grinds then it makes it more difficult for the water to pass through which builds pressure and explodes/leaks. When grinds are less fine there are no problems. But that shouldn't be my problem and I shouldn't be restricted to certain grind sizes. Currently looking for a new maker to replace this one...For the short-term, Im only use it for hot water to make my instant coffee bc I dont want to bother cleaning the mess. The last straw..my mother stopped by yesterday and dropped off the tray to the same maker, the one I bought for Christmas for her. She said it hissed at her and leaked out on the sides.....Im waiting for the third person to bring me their tray...I wish they would fix this issue. There are other reviews on here that say the same... They can check my history since I did buy 3, they should do something about it.
Dud
July 29, 2017
Maker arrived yesterday. Tried to make coffee this morning. Complete no-go. Read the negative comments on Amazon. Clearly I got a dud as did many others. I really disregarded the "negativity" when I bought this because I thought Bunn was supposed to be a top company. I am sending it back. I had a Kureig (sic?) for many years and loved it. It finally died and I bought a newer Kureig. It has been nothing but problems, so I gave up on then and decided to go with the Bunn. It is worse. Maybe I will just buy a Mr. Coffee next.

July 15, 2017
I originally purchased this Bunn coffee in December 2015, and was satisfied with the performance of the machine & taste of coffee. However, after about 5 months of use, the coffee maker started to "explode", and spew water & coffee all over the kitchen counter and floor. This got more frequent until the machine would not make a cup of coffee. We were told there is a defective seal that is the cause. However, we were not able to get this resolved. We have thrown this coffee maker away, and have sworn Bunn and Keurig types of coffee makers. Too much of a hassle.
Disappointed
November 7, 2016
We are very disappointed with this product. Although the concept of multiple small brew options seems like a great idea, I think Bunn should stick to what it knows best. We use the one for loose coffee and it has broken, twice. The coffee maker itself is in great condition. We will calling the manufacturer once again for a replacement. I think this is I'm large part due to the product being plastic.
Heating element never worked.
September 8, 2015
I purchased one of these as a repackaged unit from Amazon warehouse deals. The unit itself looked great and I liked the different types of adapters for for K-cups, grounds, water, etc. I unfortunately could not get my unit to work. I primed it and then poured in various amounts of water but the heating element never came on.I put it through about 10 cycles with the correct amount of water coming out but it was never even warm water. I waited up to 30 minutes between some cycles and the brew light never turned to green. I repacked it and sent it back to Amazon for a refund. Based on the reviews it looks like quality control is hit or miss, you either get a great unit or a dud.
I was happy with the machine for the first week
January 2, 2015
I was happy with the machine for the first week. Then it started putting coffee grounds in my cup when I used a k cup. I called the company and they are supposed to be sending me a new seal. Yesterday I was brewing a cup and heard a loud pop and scalding hot water sprayed out the side. Thankfully no one was sitting across from it or they would have had scalding hot water in their face! I called the company again and they said I have a defective seal. They are sending me another seal and a video to watch. I am completely dissatisfied with this machine and thought I could count on Bunn to be the best. I was wanting to get away from the Keurig but I don't think this is the way to do it! I do not recommend this machine and consider it dangerous to use. I have only had it 2 weeks and have had this much trouble. Not a good product Bunn!!

It's a piece of crap. Save your money and keep shopping

The water lines are insufficient for hot water. We have only had this unit for two months when the water line came disconnected under the reservoir letting all the water run out on to the counter top and our new hardwood floor. I removed the bottom of the unit and it was obvious that the line was off. There is noway possible that I can reattach the line without a blow torch, jackhammer . I hope you get the picture. It's a piece of crap. Save your money and keep shopping. Questions? edgmon43@hotmail.com

I thought this would be the perfect Christmas gift for my husband since he would have the choice between one cup or a whole pot of coffee. It worked fine for about a month and then it broke, now it is just collecting dust in our kitchen. I wish I would have just dished out the cash and purchased him a Keurig. I would not recommend this product. It was not good quality.
I had liked it up to that point
April 14, 2016
I bought this back on February 4th. The single serving side died on me last week, 1st week of April. Thankfully I bought the Canopy Protection, they promptly sent me out my refund. I had liked it up to that point, although there were a couple of occasions where it didn't work the first time I hit the brew button; but then worked on the second attempt. This time here I have no idea what happened but the single serve side just died and I could not get it to work at all. I tried to unplug it, hoping it would reset itself, I tried with the K-cup, without the K-cup, nothing. I could no longer get water to come through that side, but it still worked on the carafe side.
Junk apparently being sold seconds at full price...

Second unit received while I was away from hom. The return policy states that it had to break BEFORE 1/31/15 although the unit was not even put into use until the 15th of Jan when I returned home from holiday travels. First unit was blowing water and grounds all over the place like it was clogged. I returned it no problem. Yesterday this unit no longer will brew a single at all. The pump is working but again it is like something is clogging the tubing to flow the water through and out into the cup! My daughter has had this same pot for almost 3 years with no problem at all so I THOUGHT it was going to be great! NOT! Must be seconds that are being sold and I don't care what anyone says it has to be! I will go to Hamilton Beach's website a buy through them. Man Amazon is starting to look like Walmart. Sell seconds at full price...Done!
1st one stopped working 2 days after receiving
December 1, 2014
At first I thought this was the perfect coffee maker. I received it on 11/26/14 and yes, there was a strong plastic odor but I expected it from any new maker. I ran 2 pots of water through the carafe side and 3 cups in the k-cup side. It worked fine and the coffee tasted good. Then on 11/28/14, 2 days later the K-cup side stopped working. I tried everything in the manual to no avail. I honestly only used that side 3 times and 3 times at start up just running water to clean it. Very disappointed but I'm willing to try a second one and awaiting it's arrival. Stay tuned for part II of this review.
