No more hand grinding or cutting!
September 6, 2017
So glad I got this. I used to use the hand grinder to make Spaghetti sauce...so happy that I got this. Made life cleaner and easier. Yes you should elevate or use a high bowl for both the waste and sauce. But it's worth it. I usually blanch my tomatoes and then send them thru the grinder as a personal preference. But they say you do not have to do that.

Fantastic tool for separating tomato pulp from the skin and seeds. Just the right amount of pulp makes it through the strainer to have a base for fresh sauce over the winter.

This thing is amazing! I used it to make apple sauce, A LOT of apple sauce. Very pleased.
Grinder works like commercial quality grinder
May 10, 2017
I never knew I could get meat ground to the extent of this grinder. I was able to put all the leftovers from our christmas ham into the meat grinder and turned it into the best ham salad Ive ever had. This thing really grinds whatever you throw at it, very very impressed. Plastic used seems to be very stiff and long lasting.
Containing the splash from the 6-qt mixer height is key!
September 19, 2016
This is the first attachment I've purchased for my Kitchenaid stand mixer with the main purpose of processing 1 bushel of tomatoes for canning. It did this job very well and saved me hours of blanching, peeling and seeding. I processed the tomatoes raw, only having washed, cored and cut into quarters. The only thing that I didn't expect was that with my 6qt raised bowl mixer, this attachment ends up being quite high off of the counter and you can end up with quite a bit of juice slash from the "good" end. As I kept adjusting my setup I found that an enormous mixing bowl to catch the "good" juice and pulp was best for me. High walls and large diameter of the catching bowl stopped most of the splashes, although I did need an apron and to wipe down both the machine and the wall afterward. This hilarious looking setup I created with 2 bowls a cutting board and a plastic freezer container (shown in my picture) was well worth the hours I saved blanching and peeling by hand. For those who have mentioned the consistency is too runny, just remember that a tomato is mostly made of water and the sauce needs to be reduced by cooking it for hours. I had 2 pots of sauce going and had best results using an enamel coated cast iron Dutch oven compared to a standard stainless steel stock pot. The sauce cooked down and looks & tastes fantastic.Last point - I did run the waste though the strainer a second time. The first time through definitely left a lot of good stuff in the waste, but the waste on the second round was almost as thick as ground beef and was made up of just seeds and skin. *The 3rd pic shows the waste after it has been passed though the strainer a second time.
Best thing ever for Tomato Sauce
October 1, 2013
Our first year with tomatoes we went the old fashioned route and did the peeling and straining by hand. This took hours upon hours with one of us standing at the stove and the other peeling away. This year we bought the fruit strainer attachment for the KitchenAid stand mixer and tomato sauce was a breeze. One of us cut the tomatoes into chunks (most of our tomatoes were Roma so in half or quarter depending on size). Using this cut our process time by over half. We are so happy we purchased this. If we only ever use it for tomatoes we would consider it money well spent, but right now I'm looking at a boat load of apples....applesauce here we come.If I had any complaints about it I would say that the plunger is odd. Sometimes we would get "vapor locked" and it was hard to get the fruit moving again and the tray is quite small, but you adjust and get used to it and your rhythm starts and it's all good.

This Kit works Well
September 11, 2017
Finally pulled down the old KitchenAid and started a new hobby with the hubby. This kit works very well to stuff the sausage into the casings after grinding with the KitchenAid food grinder attachment. The smaller funnel also works well to aid in the rinsing of the inner part of the casings prior to stuffing. Just put the end of the casing on the smaller end and the larger end under the running water of the kitchen sink. Not really sure how to be able to easily rinse out the casings without using the funnel. Happy with this purchase.
Works for me.
March 14, 2017
I didn't buy this for a Kitchenaid. I actually bought it for a vintage Lil Pro electric grinder that I have had for 20 years. They don't make them anymore, so finding attachments was a challenge. Sometimes, I still have to push the sausage thru the tube with a wooden spoon handle, but I imagine it's because this isn't really made for my grinder. Still, I got my sausage stuffed! Nice price, too.
Another Excellent KitchenAid Product.
March 27, 2016
I really, really liked this attachment. It makes sausage making super easy. It attached to the KitchenAid grinder there the grinding plate would usually go. Then you run whatever you are stuffing the sausage into onto the horn and turn on the KitchenAid. It really is that easy. I have found it to be easier to rub the horn with a little bit of Crisco before sliding the casing onto it though since it can stick easily. It also gums up easily, so making cheddar sausage is time consuming and somewhat of a workout. One other note: This product is good for small, home uses. When I use it, I do no more than 10 lbs at a time. Anything more than that and it gets hard to manage.
Previous tubes lasted for years, high hopes for these new ones
July 21, 2015
I ordered the stuffing tube set as a replacement for my old ones that finally gave up the ghost and cracked near the base after years of solid use making sausage and jerky. I think what did in the tubes wasn't the quality of the tube itself but rather my tendency to over-tighten the cap over the tube. The sizes are perfect for what I use it for (breakfast sausage for the smaller one and ground beef jerky for the larger). Cleaning isn't the easiest, but what can you do with a tube filled with meat? A little digging with an orange peeler and a blast of water and most of it comes out without a problem.I have no doubt I'll be using this set for years before needing to replace them again.
It is great!!
February 22, 2015
There could take a time to see how is the best way to make them, but after several tries to work become easy.
Sausage stuffing extravaganza!
October 17, 2014
The sausage stuffer attachments work wonderfully with the KitchenAid grinder and mixer. In utilizing these attachments it would be best to have an extra set of hands to feed the meat into the grinder to stuff the sausages. Made approximately 9 pounds of Kielbasa.

Good product, minor design flaws.
February 18, 2017
There are some design flaws...like you can't actually get a bowl situated properly under the pour out, and it still drops some of the leftover material (like tomato skin/seeds) in the liquid if you are not super careful, and it is really messy, however, it does exactly what I need it to do. It peels and seeds my tomatoes so that I can make my own sauce.

5 stars for the tomato grinder,2 stars for the meat grinder.Meat grinding is a pain in the ass.Make sure to cut the meat in very small pieces so you don't get a long piece of sinew that can break the plastic. You have to push down hard on the plunger all the time because of ,what seems to be an air lock. The top thingy is ridiculous.I use a blender for the tomatoes and then pour them in, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 2.
excellent tool for making applesauce

excellent tool for making applesauce. My only complaint is that the upper hopper where you put the cooked apples is to shallow. The sides need to be higher. Food overflowed and hot apples splattered. Is there a different hopper when you purchase the food grinder? Please let me know.Linda Farrell lfarrell62@gmail.com
Works Great
March 24, 2013
Love this.. juicer is great for tomato's.. we make juice, and spaghetti sauce using this and I love all the work it saves me by using this verses doing it all by hand, and we have ground our own meat, but the little ring did break... so we replaced it.. and are good to go again! would recommend to anyone looking for kitchen aid parts!
my only desire
August 3, 2011
This tool works very well, my first one lasted 25+ years. It's a must for any serious home gardener. It makes preparing tomato sauce a breeze. The problem with these is the plastic discolors, and splits over time.Do not make the mistake of attempting to seed grapes with it, the screen is too fine. The end result is irreparable damage to the unit. The manufacturer should sell with a variety of screens, and all metal parts.

Fun Attachment for Homemade Sausage Making
January 12, 2017
My family and I had a blast using this attachment to make homemade sausages over the holidays. It fit our mixer just fine and the two sizes worked well for the kind of sausages we were going for. They can be somewhat difficult to clean, hence the 4 stars, but not overly so. The best part of our experience with this product was hearing my mother-in-law mumble to herself "oh that's just obscene!" whenever we had to feed the casing onto the nozzle.
Works wonderfully if you read the reviews.
December 9, 2015
I read the 4-5 star reviews very carefully in what they did to give it that rating. This is by no means easy but I am very pleased with the outcome of my first ever attempt at making homemade sausage. It's a day-long project so plan to set aside some time. As far as the meat grinder, I give it a 5 star. Love the grinder. I did a trial sausage-stuffing batch first to learn what I should do differently. I was filling it too tight and burst when I was twisting into a link. Still edible. Second batch I filled more loosely by keeping a slow and steady pulling motion as the casing filled. As others have stated, keep the meat ice cold. The plunger is not ideal. I used my fingers to push more than I did the plunger. Ice cold meat, slow and steady !
Takes practice and patience, does the job
February 25, 2015
I've seen a lot of bad reviews for this sausage stuffer but, since I had the mixer, I wanted to give it a shot. At first, I was ready to throw it out the window. I constantly struggled trying to push the ground sausage through the feeder so that the auger would push it into the tube. The ground meat turned into a mush that just came right back up the feeder. It took me about 30 minutes or more to stuff a single 2-ft length of casing.Right when I was about to give up, I had a thought. Instead of trying to keep the feeder loaded like I would when grinding the meat, I switched to dropping small, quarter sized blobs of the ground sausage into the feeder. They fell directly into the auger and immediately were pushed into the stuffing tube. I managed to knock out three more 2-ft casing lengths in about 10 or 15 minutes using this new technique. I wound up over-stuffing the casing so they didn't twist into lengths properly, but that's a problem I can solve with more experience.I have never used any other sausage stuffing apparatus to compare this one to, but I think with some extra practice, this one will work just fine for the occasional batch of bratwurst!
Excellent if a little slower than a dedicated stuffer
July 5, 2011
As compared to spending a hundred dollars or so on a dedicated stuffing device, this little attachment is a tremendous value. Here are a couple of my observations:(1) Be sure to apply Crisco to the stuffer before sliding the casing on - it makes it much easier to push the casing onto the stuffer.(2) keep everything ice cold - put the grinder parts, the stuffer, and the meat mix into the freezer until it is fairly stiff but not frozen. This will make stuffing work much better.(3) Slow - Kitchenaid cannot stuff faster than the grinder worm turns, which is not that fast at the recommended speed of 4. This is compounded by the very cold meat, which requires more effort to push into the grinder hole. Slow means it probably took 20 minutes to stuff 3lbs worth of sausage. Compared to what I have read a dedicated stuffer can do that is slow. Next time I might shape the meat into logs before chilling it so it will go into the grinder more rapidly.(4) To avoid air in the casing it helps to hold the filled sausage as it comes out. You can push back against the flow of meat to pack the casings more and twist the casings as the sausages reach the right length (twist each sausage in the opposite direction of the sausage before it).(5) This works better as a two person project. The kitchen aid is not flush with the counter--obviously--so I found it easier to use this with one person pushing meat into the grinder and another holding the sausages and casing.Overall this is a great addition if you already have a kitchen aid meat grinder and a very, very inexpensive introduction to making your own sausage. If you are reading this and deciding whether to make homemade sausage at all, the answer is yes, its worth it. Of course its more work than the store but now sausage tastes great, exactly as you like it, and no more "trimmings" or other mystery meat in your food.

Pricey and bit cumbersome and it does not handle black raspberry seeds very well. (clogged up) But overall it eventually got the job done.
Feeder to small
October 21, 2013
Could have designed a larger feeder to enable more efficient use for straining and grinding. Use to have an older model Oester which did have a larger feeder which was easier to use when canning tomatoes and apples.

October 20, 2013
this device is much faster than my old peel method; however, it does clog easily with most berries I've tried and the tray is too small. Overall, it still saves my wife and I a considerable amount of time, especially with medium size batches. Also, the replacement parts seem rather expensive. I'd like to see it made a little more solidly and would pay more for such improvements.
KitchenbAid FVSFGA/vegetable strainer,
October 2, 2013
I liked the speed, of the KitchenAid FVSFGA/vegetable strainer, but it is difficult to clean esp. around the grinder that fits into the strainer and difficult to catch the liquid and the waste.
Works well enough
August 4, 2013
There are several things that would make this a better product. The strainer should be a bit wider, and the hopper where you add the fruit or veggies should be big, like a bowl (see a traditional Victoria strainer). Works really well for making tomato sauce.
Kitchen Aid strainer/food grinder
February 26, 2011
I bought this grinder to make baby food and it doesn't do the job that a standard blender would do. I have only used it twice in the past 3 months and would not recommend it to anyone using it for that purpose. This is a pretty good deal if you need something to just chop/grind up food, or for juice. SocialMommie

January 14, 2017
KA needs to provide much better instructions. Even looking up videos on youtube doesn't help. It is easy to install on the mixer, but how to make it actually WORK??? Trying to get the meat back through the horn to fill the casing is problematic. One would assume that if KA is going to make the tool there is a way to use it successfully, so I really wish they would provide guidance on that.
if you enjoyed the process and results of making your own sausage
November 1, 2016
It's an inexpensive tool to try your hand at sausage stuffing. However, if you enjoyed the process and results of making your own sausage, then this item will eventually be inadequate for producing batches of sausage over time. It's just too cumbersome. I read the other reviews prior to purchasing this attachment and found them to be spot on with the quirks of this attachment. For one, you'll have to force your mixture down the throat to the auger of the grinder housing- too small. There was also a reference to remove the auger retaining insert (plastic) for better flow of the sausage mixture - this did help. It also was not that easy to clean the attachments internal parts (auger, tubes, grinder housing) and left a 1/4# of sausage mixture in these parts. This wasn't so bad, since you could cook this up and taste the flavor of your sausage. Overall, if you are uncertain if you want to consistently make sausage, then this is an inexpensive way to try it out. If you already know you are committed to producing your own sausage, this attachment is going to be frustrating. I will be purchasing a stainless steel sausage press ($129 range) to make the sausage making process more enjoyable.
Works well if awkwardly
April 28, 2016
It's great to have a sausage stuffer to use with my KitchenAid mixer. I don't have previous experience using one, so nothing to compare this to, but it works well. You have to grease up the end with some shortening, load on your casings, and then turn on the mixer which will force the sausage through the attachment into the casings. The sausage seems to need quite a bit of proding to go down into the food grinder to get to where it needs to go, so between tamping that down and trying to keep the casings horizontal to the attachment, I often feel in use of a third hand :) Well, who wouldn't like a third hand in any case? I like that it's simple so I don't see it breaking easily. And it's nice to be able to put sausage into casings now - for many years I'd just fry them up in patties - but they're so nice on a bun with all the fixings.

I wish it was made out of something stronger than plastic, as the first one i bought broke when i overtightened the sausage stuffer. But it works, and it's cheap, so i can't really complain.
Fortunately, I bought a new one just recently
September 17, 2015
Not impressed.Warning to those who has an older model grinder - might not fit it. I have 10 years old grinder attachment and it didn't fit properly, the connection was a little loose. Fortunately, I bought a new one just recently, so I was able to use the stuffer. Before I was stuffing my sausage by hand and it was taking too much time, I was hoping to drastically reduce it - didn't happen. I do my sausage with chopped meat, the pieces are fairly small, but were big enough to block the stuffer several times (I used a wider one). So I needed to disassemble the whole attachment and put it back together which is a hassle. Take time a efforts. It might be different for a ground meat, but I don't like the taste. Will not return it, it is better that stuffing by hand, but I'm sure there should be something better on the market.

Used this for making blackberry jam and it choked up on the seeds multiple times. This caused the whole unit to shoot off the end of my mixer and make a HUGE mess. Will try it with other items and (hopefully) update this review to something more positive.
You need to do better Kitchen Aid
October 12, 2014
Works but is poorly designed. Small hopper makes it difficult if not dangerous to process large quantities of very hot sauce. Also almost broke when it didn't efficiently move and eject the pulp through the center. Buy a hand cranked one. They are fast, require very little arm energy to use and as a bonus 1/3 the price. You need to do better Kitchen Aid.
Depends on Why You Want It
August 2, 2011
I primarily bought this to make grape juice for jelly, and the grape seeds were just too much for it to handle. I think something with a greater proportion of soft fruit/vegetable matter to seed (like cooked apples or tomatoes) might work ok. But it just bogged down and clogged up, creating a huge mess. The hole at the end of the strainer (where the rejected material comes out) is just too small. I went back to doing it manually with my colander before it was over.To reinforce what everyone else has said, it is also annoying that the tray is so small, and basically requires you buy the extender tray to use it. Once purchased, the extender tray isn't a sealed fit, leaks, and adds to the messiness factor. The grinder has only 2 cutter sizes. I expected the larger cutter to allow a coarser grind. There should be at least 1 more size to allow more versatile usage (like relishes).I just expected more.
Works great for soft foods, plastic too flimsy for anything else. Top tray is small though.
September 18, 2009
This thing works great for applesauce; cooked apple quarters or halves in one end, applesauce out the middle, and cores/stems/peels out the end. We cook the apples in 9x13 pans, 1 in the microwave and two in the oven, and still can't keep up with the strainer. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about with a cross-shaped food pusher. Ours is a wooden pusher like in the photo. The top tray is a little small but not too big a deal for apples anyway.Found out the hard way that the plastic parts are no match for bread crumbs. Had the bread cubes totally dried out as per the instruction manual, after a while started noticing white flecks in the crumbs coming out. Turns out that dried bread cubes are harder than the plastic and had been destroying the thing by grinding the plastic off.

July 5, 2017
I really like this sausage stuffer kit....if it held up. I've only had it 2 weeks and the 5/8 tube has already developed many stress fractures at the base, it is still usable but probably won't be for long because more developed the second time it was used.I'd give this a 5-star rating as far as function, it was easy to use and the sausage turned out looking and tasting great!
Its A Total Pain
April 23, 2017
This what really bogs down a fun and easy sausage making project. The grinder works fairly well, but the stuffer makes a lot of work. Its only a few bucks and if you are all in on KitchenAid then it wouldn't hurt to try it. I take that back, its a total pain to try it, but if you dont mind that, good times.
I'll be trying a different method...
February 10, 2016
First time sausage maker, which probably had something to do with the amount of trouble I had, but I will DEFINITELY not be using this the next time, I will get a sausage making machine. It was hard to keep the sausage mixture coming through the grinder. You'd push the meat mixture down, and a bunch of it would come back up, and you'd have to push it down again into the hopper, but now it's got a ton of air in it, making your sausages full of air instead of meat. It was just really hard to use. I gave it two stars because i did eventually get all of my sausages made, but I was really doubting I would there, for a while. It DOES help to have your sausage mixture VERY cold.
Not worth it.
August 9, 2015
We recently ordered a Kitchenaid Artisan series stand mixer and the Food Grinder/Sausgage Stufffer Kit to replace our Viking 5 amp mixer and stuffer. I was originally concerned that the grinder did not seem to be as well made as the all metal Viking unit. My fears have been born out after attempting our first batch of sausage with the Kitchenaid grinder and stuffer kit. Our pork ground easily. No problem until we began to stuff our casings. The meat failed to move the meat through the unit after the first few inches and in one instance passed air through ahead of the meat. Finally the unit continued turning without moving the meat at all. To save the batch we fired up the Viking again. I would recommend the KitchenAid mixer, but caution against buying the grinder and stuffer kit if you intend to make sausage.

TL;DR Make patties or get a purpose built sausage stuffer because these kinda suck.--This is more a novelty I bought on a whim than something I expected to perform very well. Requires the (excellent) grinder attachment. These don't do a great job, but I think that's more due to the grinder attachment. It's a real chore to feed nicely emulsified fatty meat through the hopper...and good luck avoiding air bubbles. Might be better for very coarse product. The real shame here is that this thing is so accessible due to its price, but performs so poorly, that I fear it will turn people off to home sausage-making after their first attempt doesn't go well.LEM Products 5 Pound Stainless Steel Vertical Sausage Stuffer is really where it's at if you're making any quantity of sausage and want to stuff in to casings.

October 13, 2015
I normally love kitchenaid products so I was expecting a lot of this. I tried to make tomato sauce with this and I absolutely hated it. It let the seeds into my sauce. It doesn't hardly pull the food though. I had to push everything through. Once the food was in the strainer part I still had to be pushing more in to get it go through. Otherwise it would just spin the food round and round. What finally did come out the trash end was full of good pulp. The only pro to this is that it was returnable.
Steel drive shaft failed
October 17, 2013
Steel auger drive shaft broke after 1 day. Score: Steel 0, Carrot 1. Spring loaded auger did not line up correctly with food inlet so unless the auger had food pushing the auger back continuously food would get stuck between electric motor and auger. Incredibly poor at straining juice from carrots but was fine for soft fruits. Took two hours and produced very large mess to produce I 16oz of juice. Plastic is great quality but design needs to be reviewed. As the latin saying goes "caveat emptor" (buyer beware). Buyer's remorse for me.
Save your money
July 14, 2012
This attachment is so disappointing. I've used it three times: the first time with cooked tomatoes, which worked great. The second time I ground tenderloin and it came out with grease all over it. Not sure how since I cleaned it well. That ruined $30 in meat. The third time, I ran cooked spinach and beets through it. It is currently jammed up and unusable. Amazon says that their return policy expired 14 days ago. I bought it two months ago. Total waste of time and money.
Will not work with blackberries!
November 24, 2009
I purchased the grinder/strainer combination so I could make blackberry jam easily. I read through the instruction booklet to be sure I was doing it correctly. It started out fine, but then the strainer got clogged with seeds, and the strainer burst apart at the seams.Kitchen Aid help line person was very good and said they would send me a new part. When I asked what I could do so it wouldn't happen again, she looked up on their troubleshooting site. On the site, it warned against using large seeded-fruit such as blackberries. Had this been mentioned in their instruction booklet, I would have returned the item unused and gotten my money back. As it is now, I'll try to sell it and recoup part of my purchase price.

Useless piece of junk!
February 4, 2017
As other reviewers have stated here, this product is not worth your time or money. If someone gives it to you, throw it in the garbage.I've had a Kitchen Aid for over 20+ years and also the accessory kit which I've never used. We decided to make our own pepperoni snack sticks so I bought the sausage stuffer to add to the grinder attachment. After 2-1/2 hours and only about 2-1/2 lbs. of our 6 pounds of pepperoni pushed into the casings, we gave up and bought a Jerky Gun for $35 which works like a champ. The last 3-1/2 lbs. of pepperoni was done in less than 20 minutes. When we went to clean it out, the meat was jammed into the auger and we had to pry it out of the housing to clean it - an utter mess!Again don't waste your time or money.
Don't bother.

$X extra for the sausage stuffer kit, which is just two cheap plastic tubes?? I didn't think much about that beforehand, but upon receiving the package and seeing what I paid for, it was pretty ridiculous. This should be a basic accessory included with any meat grinder.Speaking of which... don't even think about making sausage with this kit and the FGA grinder it goes with. The meat squirts up and around the pusher/ stomper, making it nearly impossible to actually get sausage through. I fought with it forever and my links were full of air.Save yourself the time and trouble, get something else.I returned it and got the Weston 575 Watt Electric Heavy Duty Grinder, Silver instead. Indeed my issues with the KitchenAid grinder were not my fault. The Weston is a joy to use, no issues whatsoever.

Not worth the 10 dollars that it's costs. I bought this about a year ago and have made several batches of sausage with it. My main complaint is that the meat grinder attachment isn't really built to stuff sausage. It works well with rice based Cajun boudin but not so well with anything else. I remove the cutter and grinding plae like all the other reviews say, and my mixture is chilled overnight before stuffing, but I always end up with a disgusting meat glue. If you're considering getting into sausage making and want to make a good tasting AND good looking product, think about spending the 100-150 on a vertical stuffer from LEM. It will save a lot of frustration.
Buy stainless steel or you may be sorry this unit cracked in one use
June 1, 2014
So the first time I used this I saw meat squeezing out the ring that screws on over the sausage nozzle. I then used the included plastic "wrench" to screw it on tighter. Though that solved the issue of meat squeezing past the ring, when I took it off I saw the flared flange base of the sausage nozzle that is held tight to the face of unit by the screw on ring had cracked. while it is still useable for now I wonder how long before that crack develops into a problem requiring replacement. After one single use this is not acceptable. I believe the pressure that this unit develops even at level one which is what I had it on at the time is simply too great for plastic pieces to handle. The stainless units by another manufacturer are indeed 3 times the price but I doubt they would break like this cheaper plastic stuff has done. The nozzle that broke was the one inch larger nozzle not even the smaller breakfast sausage nozzle so I am almost afraid to use it. This was a waste of my money, don't waste yours....
Very slow and frustrating but works

First of all, it is a shame this was not included with the Kitchenaid meat grinder. It is a couple of pieces of flimsy molded plastic. The box and packaging probably cost more to produce. It came with two of the little plastic spacers, which is good because I can see myself easily losing one, and it comes with two size tubes. The problem is not with the grinder, the tubes, or the spacers... It is with the plunger that you force the meat down the hopper. It does a horrible job and makes the process take 5 times longer than it should. The meat (already ground) oozes back up around the plunger (not sure what it's really called, its their plastic all in one tool that has the wrench on the end) when forcing the meat down into the grinder chute. Then when you pull it back up it creates a vacuum that pulls the meat back up. Very frustrating. All this while working with your arms over your head because it sits so high up on the machine. I LOVE the meat grinder, but forcing little cubes of meat down the chute is no problem at all, only when using the ground meat to stuff into casings do you encounter this problem. Someone mentioned that there is a wooden tool for that which i may call Kitchenaid to try to get and maybe give this thing one more try. Ive only used the larger tube with the hog casings, but l want to try the smaller one with sheep casings to make breakfast sausage. Not sure my my nerves will handle that because I'm sure its even harder to do than the large ones . The stuffer fills the casings perfectly if there was an easier way to force the meat down the chute. Very disappointed that Kitchenaid would use such a flimsy piece of plastic with their meat grinder instead of a nice professional looking /feeling plunger tool. Couldn't be that much more to produce.*updated review... Downgraded to one star. Tried a couple more times to use this. Worthless. The smaller tube will not work with natural sheep casings. The funnel design is awful (does not hold enough if by some miracle you could actually get it on there in the first place) and the finish on the cheap plastic itself was so rough and sharp that it would destroy the casings. This was used with a manual stuffer because the grinder attachment is HORRIBLE for stuffing sausage. I cant stress that enough. Kitchenaid should be ashamed of themselves for even calling this an accessory and charging for it. The larger tube is okay for hog casings but not on the Kitchenaid grinder. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this product. bite the bullet and go with a dedicated stuffer with good quality stuffing tubes. Stainless steel is best.
Don't bother with this

I've been very happy with the KA Grinder attachment. I wanted to try stuffing some sausage and this was the natural choice. Save yourself some time, money, and stress and skip this attachment.1) The process is painfully slow.2) Tons of air gets pushed into the casing.3) The plunger does not fit snugly into the feed tube, so sausage just gets squeezed up past it, and when you pull the plunger out of the feed tube, all the rest of the sausage comes with due to the vacuum just created. This helps lead to the air pockets that get pushed into the casing.4) The height of everything is awkward and you really need to have two people due to that. It is hard for one person to load the grinder, repeatedly and futilely try to stuff the sausage into the feed tube AND hold the casing while guiding the sausage out (since the stuffing tube is so far above the counter top).
