Highly recommend
September 7, 2017
I highly recommend this for any one who needs a lift. After being bedridden for three years, I finally was able to have both knees replaced at the same time and this was perfect. Easy to install and use.
Riser for toliet
August 28, 2017
I bought this riser before going in for a total knee replacement. I looked at several before making my selection. I am happy with my selection & I would recommend it to anyone who needs a riser for a medical condiction such as surgery, ect. I am happy I chose the one with the handles. It is perfect for me after my knee surgery & the price was a great buy. I highly recommend this riser
Great purchase
July 17, 2016
Works great for 'easy sitting' after back surgery. My only complaint was that I've noticed it's moved around a little after two months use - probably due to the apartment toilet I have. Once removed, I'm not sure the old snaps that go over the bolts holding the toilet seat it will work but not going to worry about it. It's nice that the old toilet seat cover can be shut right over the top of this.
Perfect

Having bad knees, this works perfectly. Easy to get up and down without pain.
t work with the newer easy clean lids
November 16, 2014
It won,t work with the newer easy clean lids, you need an older seat that will allow the long bolts to go through. Otherwise the seat is wonderful

Updating my review to excellent
July 21, 2017
My problem is that my toilet seat that fits on top of the new unit has large holes, the bolt that fits it has a washer that is part of the bolt. So I either need a large washer to work with these new longer bolts or a new toilet seat with mounting holes that will work with the new bolt. I just got back from hardware and used the large washes, it works perfectly. There are plastic caps that cover the bolts on the toilet seat that no longer fit over the large washer. But I don't care. It works fine and I did it myself.
Great product-- solves the tall person problem!
March 15, 2017
This addition to the toilet installed perfectly in 10 minutes, and works like a charm! I installed this seat to help my big and tall husband's sore knees. The seat fits under the original seat and they all raise up for cleaning, just as advertised. It is heavy duty and very sturdy-- a great product.
Highly Recommended by this hip replacement patient.
March 2, 2017
I needed this after a total hip replacement. I almost made the mistake of buying the one that doesn't have the hinge...that would have been a BIG MISTAKE! This seat, because of the hinge, is easy to clean. I highly recommend this equipment!
Just as described

Just as described, installation was under 10 minutes. Perfect height, not too tall.
This is a very good extension for a toilet
January 13, 2017
This is a very good extension for a toilet, it is much better than I expected, it is very secure. There is a small lip on the underside that sets inside the toilet bowl to prevent it from moving around. This is much better than anything else I have looked at !
Toilet seat was super easy to install
May 29, 2016
Toilet seat was super easy to install. Unscrew the seat, install riser with seat lid on top and tighten screws. Great way to add 4 inches to seat height for people who can't sit on a low toilet seat.Extra toilet seat height made it so much easier for my aging mother to get on and off the potty.

Well built and easy to assemble.

Nice seat. Only complaint is the washers provided are plastic so it is difficult to get the seat tight to prevent slippage. A couple metal washers fixed it. Handles are sturdy.

Easy to secure on toilet, arms are secure but have some movement. Would feel better if I could tighten them up someway.

Pretty good product. It does come loose after a while and you need to keep tightening it up. Also, you have to loosen it to clean under it which is also a pain.

i bought this for my dad who also had a hip replacement he is 79 now i bought this 1 years ago and i need i new cause my dad is not a small person and because this is plastic the seat cracked when he sits down on it i really do not want top replace this every year so i think they should try something else so the sit does not crack other wise it has worked good for him and he still has to use this cause he is not very sturdy on his feet
great product and very firm ( only will need flat head screws instead of round head screws that comes in the installation kit)
September 24, 2015
Great product, only problem is that srews that come along to install it (perfect lenght), they are round head, when they should be flat head, the original toilet seat I installed it ok, but before grinding down 3mm of the round head of the screws .

Steel nuts missing for steel mounting bolts
September 29, 2017
The nuts for the steel bolts were missing in the accessory package. I tried using the original plastic nuts on the steel bolts, but they could only be tightened so far and the plastic nuts stripped. I managed to find some nuts in my garage that fit the steel bolts so I could tighten them securely. Does it cost extra for the steel nuts to be included in the package? There were no instructions where to place the extra large rubber washer. I am assuming it is used someplace to prevent the toilet seat from slipping. I would have given this a 5star rating if the instructions were more complete and steel nuts came with the steel mounting bolts.
Good buy
July 22, 2017
It does the job. Main problem was buying a toilet seat with a plain hinge that would accept the bolt. A bit of a chore to clean the commode since you have to unscrew it to get it off for a thorough cleaning but it's not that hard to do.
Four Stars
February 13, 2017
Great product but urine gets trapped under toilet seat causing a puddle of urine.
Best on Amazon. I tried others and they failed for different reasons.
September 25, 2016
Not as elongated to match elongated toilet but maybe best since the front drip edge is about an inch or so from the bowl front therefore the drips drip into the bowl and do not run to the bowl top surface. Therefore little bowl top cleaning. The hinge works well so cleaning is easy. The slotted mounting holes does allow the seat to wiggle a little but not too much. Overall better than any other sold on Amazon. Other seats get dented on the top from the toilet seat rubber feet and therefore create puddle spots but this Abelware seat seems to resist denting.
Good product!
September 22, 2016
This was purchased to replace a three-piece set installed about seven years ago. It works very well and easy to install. It adds 3 inches to seat height. Good appearance. This is a good product.
Good for Newer Toilets
July 28, 2016
Didn't quite fit my 1950s toilet, but it was close enough to keep. I had to modify the installation, a tiny bit, but that likely violated any warranty.

The size and arm rests were good. Then it rusted on

We could never get it to stop sliding around, no matter how much we tightened the screws. The size and arm rests were good. Then it rusted on, which I was not happy about.
Hard to clean
August 9, 2017
Very difficult to clean between the seat and toilet. It is handy for my husband to get up using the handrails. Because it's so hard to clean, it seems bad.
PROBLEM MOUNTING ELEVATOR
May 12, 2017
I bought this for our round toilet having bought one several years ago for our oval toilet. I am having the same difficulty in installing this one as I did with the previous one. The previous seat , as is this one, had slip off hinges and the 3/8 inch diameter bolt furnished with the elevator did not fit the holes in the slip off seat. I bored them out to fit the bolts and when tightening them up, it cased the split slip on hinge to turn and spread the split slip on hinge. To mount the previous one I had to buy a new seat without the slip off hinges. The new seat hinges just have a closed round hole in the hinges. As to the bolt I had to get new stainless steel bolts long enough to go through the hinges and through the elevator. Problem, Lowes did not have bolts that long. So I bought the longest 1/4 inch bolt, about 2- 2 1/2 inches long. a 6 inch long stainless steel threaded rod and a stainless steel coupling nut. That is a nut about 1 1/2 inches long. With this I mounted the seat and it has not moved. I am intending to but a Kohler K 4648 seat and se the same connection process. Also between the elevator and the toilet bowl I placed several of those anti slip strips you put on the bottomof a tub or shower.

Not a tight fit, Unable to have it hold properly.
Disappointed
October 27, 2016
The idea is good and it is sturdy and comfortable. Trouble is the screws loosen each time you use it and the whole seat moves around. I keep a screwdriver in the bathroom and hope it doesn't fall off completely. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? The screws are about 2 inches long so it's odd that they won't tighten properly.

Fits perfect, your toilet seat might not work.
August 1, 2017
Nice quality seat... BUT, it uses larger diameter bolts - 3/8"? I had to drill out larger my toilet seat.. This unit fits perfectly.. But.. My kohler toilet seat will not mate with this riser.. You might need to buy a toilet seat.. FYI.,!
Attaching Hardware Fails
February 29, 2016
The bolts, nuts , and hardware for this elevator do not match standard toilet seats. Standard seats have a 5/16" bolt and nut as part of the hinge. The bolt for this elevator is 3/8" and it's intended to go through the seat hinge, elevator, and toilet mounting holes. Well guess what, standard seats don't have a bolt hole to accept a 3/8" bolt. I had to go to a hardware store, find a standard seat that we could strip out the smaller bolt (and hole), and find washers that would fit the provided 3/8" bolt head and holes in the standard seat. Also the 3/8" wing nuts provided are too large in diameter to thread onto the bolt under the toilet because of too little clearance between the bolt and porcelain. I had to use a 3/8" nut and additional washers. This is a nice elevator after it's re-engineered with new hardware. The engineers that designed the hardware for this elevator failed.

This is good but has set back Currently using 6 days into healing from full hip replacement... Feeling GREAT too! Ease of install 5 star, quality 5 start....where it looses (2) star. When you sitting and you a #2 with #1 combo it's the truth, the splash gets up under the 4" raise grove drips around the porcelain rip. Last thing with a new Rod & Ball with your stables is be turining around to clean, New hip folks know this one of the BIG No, No (lest times turning around less opportunity) one of (3) No, No's when healing. I have an AWESOME good looking super wife who cleans it up but this is not wife she married me. I would have been happy to pay more if this could be resolved! 😎
Look for installation problem if you don't have an open face hinge for bolt!
February 27, 2014
I like the concept of the riser and certainly is a plus for folks with hip/lower limb replacements/problems, and would rate the riser 5 star. I gave a lower rating because ad made it sound like all toilet seats could be easily reinstalled on top of riser in short time. The problem is that many toilet seats, to include the expensive ones have fixed hinges with bolts which do not allow for quick installation of riser using the supplied large, heavy metal bolts. So, there is a cost based on options chose to attach seat.Being 77 and having lots of experience and pretty figuring things out, I came up with a couple options which keeps the cost at a minimal. I have two seats, one new/other nearly new which I fixed using following methods. o For one seat, the metal bolt of hinge was seated in plastic, but by turning could be taken out. For this one, I went to Lowes and got a threaded headless rod/stud of same size (1/4"), 12" long, permitting me to cut w/hacksaw in half, and then used the 6" pieces to screw back into hinge and install seat over riser. Since the stem was only 1/4", I got a 12" piece of plastic tubing 3/8" , 12" long, cut in halve and covered stems to reduce the play in the hole of riser and commode. Worked great. o For second seat, the 3/8" stem in fixed hinge couldn't be removed, so for this seat, again I used Lowes and got a 3/8" metal coupler, a piece of threaded headless rod/stud, cut to proper lengths and used the coupler to join the two pieces of stems. Again, used a piece of plastic tubing (1/2") to cover stems to fill the gap in the riser and commode holes. Worked great. These fixes reduced the cost for two seats to around $8.00, compared to $50 to $80 for replacement seats.I might add, I sent an email feedback to vendor concerning the problem, BUT STILL HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE!
Slides on seat, but okay
January 9, 2014
It slides when I move it with my hand, but my mommy carefully sits on it and once there is weight on the seat it does not move and she says it's more comfortable. It's about 3" high, so add that to your already existing inch high seat and you're elevated about 4". It's pretty easy to install, just undoing and screwing the bolts back in, but it is kind of a challenge to get them as tight as I'd like. Not five stars because of the sliding left to right and will have to tighten the bolts on a weekly basis. This should have been no more $15.
3" ELEVATION NOT 4"
March 15, 2013
Product arrived missing the two very important "nuts" needed to attach to the toilet. Fortunetely I had some metal nuts in my spare parts drawer that worked, but it does not say much for quality control.I bought this hinged elevated toilet seat for my father in law whose in his 90's and very arthritic. I figured the 5" toilet seat risers I've seen advertised might be too high for him to sit comfortably. When the box arrived in the mail, I immediately wondered how this item was going toelevate anything 4", when the box it came in was just 3 3/4 " thick. Sure enough, this product is just a hair over 3" high, so that's all it "elevastes" your existing toilet seat. I would love to know where the manufacturer comes up with 4"!!! Sure the toilet seat is now 4" above the height of the toilet bowl, but it already was 1" above the toilet bowl before I added this riser. It's so frustrating that companies feel they must stoop to false claims to sell their products. It's a great product, perhaps a tad on the expensive side for some molded plastic, but a great invention all the same. All that asside, it was a snap to install, and my father in law is thrilled with the product. It does the job as intended, but if you are expecting a 4" rise above what you already have, that's not what your going to get.

With the handrails attached it wouldn't work for a large person. Quite snug for me and I'm a size 16. Also the plastic riser is denying in on one side so not sure how durable it will be.
Look for better
June 5, 2017
What moron designed the elevator. All that needed to be done was straight solid holes thru plastic for bolts to secure to toilet. Someone missed the memo people having a disability are using this. Moves all over. Only way to hold is silicone bead gluing it down. Look for better brand
Get the correct size! May be hard to install to make it stable.
January 10, 2017
This is not for an Elongated toilet....Make sure you order for your bowl size exactly. I was in a hurry and nothing in the headline said what size it was and I wound up with the wrong one. Also, The screws and system it uses for attaching to the bowl are a little wonky and it's really almost impossible to get a tight sturdy fit.
Description Wrong
November 16, 2016
The product was fine except the description says it's for elongated toilets and it's actually for a standard toilet.
better to buy this product locally shipping to expensive.
March 1, 2016
The shipping was too expensive. I should have looked locally as I have seen the Carex Product everywhere now. I ordered oval and got round so we could not put lid on and it allowed the top of bowl to get wet and dirty. We were under a time restraint and had to use what I had.
A real half-assed design.
March 11, 2015
This thing was very poorly designed. It slips and slides all over the place unless you tighten it down ALOT. But if you do that, the front of the thing sticks up about two inches above the toilet bowl. So there's a huge gap at the front. With the force you need to use to tighten the bolts so the thing doesn't move, if a person were to sit on it he might do some damage. I took it apart one time and reassembled it, moving the included washers around to different locations. The results were the same. I read some of the reviews here, and the reviewers used two sided tape to tape the thing down. I didn't have that, so I used Velcro to secure it. That seemed to work. But now, I noticed when I tried to tighten up the bolts even a little bit, the toilet seat itself rose up above the top of the riser. So, I had to disassemble it one more time, to place washers between the seat lid and the riser. Finally, after four tries, I got it to work, at least in a half-assed fashion. What a true pain in the ass.The designers must have had their heads up their asses when they designed this one.

Beware
January 18, 2016
This is a nightmare when it comes to cleanliness. Urine pools under the seat and it is a constant cleaningtask. This is a faulty design. I have since changed it one that does not lift up and there are no issues.
Belongs right next to the toilet. Probably not doctor recommended.
February 23, 2015
When this went on sale I thought it might be a nice solution to turn my toilet into a 'comfort height' model. It fails in so many ways. First, unles your toilet is plain white, it won't come close to matching. It also doesn't blend in with the shape of any toilets. It attaches using long metal, bolts, and there are numerous spots that are breeding grounds for bacteria or unhealthy stuff. Unless you're planning to unscrew it and hose it down, there's no way you'll be able to keep things that will harbor germs or odors at bay.It has a very cheap look to it, like you're toilet training a large child. So, this product is going back. I'm not sure how I expected to be something worthwhile. I'm not sure it even deserve two stars.
Not suited for "quiet-lowering" installation
August 2, 2014
Good product, but NOT easy-installation as advertised. I am giving this 2 stars because Installation was a near disaster. Our original toilet seat was of the newer, gently-lowering variety. Our skilled, very experienced handyman finally gave up after 4 hrs of work and ingenuity. In order to install this hinged elevated seat he had to scrap our almost new toilet seat and replace it with it with an ordinary model. (The only mitigating factor may be that our toilet is in a confined niche, with almost no elbow room for installation.)
So what's the hitch?
October 31, 2013
The hitch is that it doesn't fit my toilet. Toilet's a standard size round, not new but not ancient by any means, but this product is an inch shy of fitting to the outside edge of the toilet bowl, which of course means it overhangs the inside of the toilet bowl by an inch as well, and only has about half an inch of the product actually rests on the top of the toilet bowl. My existing toilet seat doesn't fit the riser seat, either. Only keeping the product because of someone else's comments about the difficulties encountered when trying to return it. Elevation is fine, cleaning is easy, but less cleaning would be required if it fit the bowl better.
You must have the correct type of toilet seat/lid for this to work
January 18, 2013
They don't tell you this in the product specs: This product attaches to the toilet by a large bolt that goes down through the toilet lid/seat hinge, the riser, and through the toilet itself which is then tightened with a wing nut. If your existing toilet lid/seat does not have a hinge that allows a bolt to pass through it (mine did not), you'll have to purchase another toilet lid/seat in order to use this product. I haven't used the product yet (I'm on my way now to purchase a new lid/seat now) so I can't say whether I like it or not, but I certainly don't like buying products online that don't provide specific requirements for use.
NOT AS DESCRIBED, ONLY 3 INCHES HIGH
October 16, 2012
THIS SEAT IS ONLY 3 INCHES HIGH. I MEASURED IT ON ALL SIDES AND EACH SIDE IS ONLY 3 INCHES. THE ROUND SEAT FITS PERFECTLY INSIDE MY TOILET BOWL BUT IS MORE THAN AN INCH SHORTER THAN THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOWL ALL AROUND THE FRONT. I DON'T LIKE THE WAY IT MAKES THE TOILET LOOK. I HAD HOPED THAT IT WOULD APPEAR MORE LIKE A TALLER TOILET RATHER THAN AN OBVIOUS EXTENSION.I GUESS IT DID SAVE ME REPLACING THE TOILET UNTIL LATER. I LIKE THE LIP ON THE INSIDE FRONT THAT PREVENTS SPILLAGE. IT IS EASY TO CLEAN. I DO CLEAN TOILET MORE OFTEN NOW WITH ELEVATED SEAT.JUST BE AWAFE THAT THIS SEAT IS - NOT - 4 INCHES ONLY 3 INCHES

Gee Thanks
June 7, 2017
One star only, because the manufacturer did not have enough sense to provide mounting bolts that wouldn't rust. Now that my wife no longer needs this, I can't get the friggin thing off because the nuts are rusted to the bolts, and won't budge. What should have been a simple 2 minute procedure, has become a lengthy fiasco by virtue of manufacturer stupidity. Thanks a lot.
Beware-you might be buying a "used" toilet seat.
October 28, 2016
Not a new seat. It was obvious that someone had tried to install the seat and mangled one of the washers in the process. Also, part of the paper on the box was torn where some tape was removed and the paper came off with it. I sent it back and purchased a seat from Carex.
Urine spills out!
September 8, 2015
First, this seat is too high to the point that your feet dangle once you are seated so unless you are very tall or have some sort of knee or hip problems it is not for you. But the biggest problem and deal breaker is that, specially for the ladies, the urine flow somehow hits the front of the seat and drips out of the toilet, creates a mess. We had to constantly clean. We ended up throwing it out and just leaving the safety rails.

July 10, 2015
It had two MAJOR flaws, 1st, it caused a great discomfort on the back of your legs due to the new hight of the seat. 2nd, this was the worst of it. Your pee hits the front wall and ends up souring out the front and down to your floor, not to mention when you life the bottom of the thick plastic rim, the pee then runs down and all over both sides making clean up a real issue after each use. Who ever made this obviously never tried it for real users. It's built well, but functions what you might call piss-poor.
something is wrong with this item - received good reviews from a friend and did not expect the seat to come apart
May 14, 2014
My husband uses this toilet seat and he is handicap and needs the height of this toilet seat. but it comes apart and makes it very uneasy for him to go to the restroom. He keeps thinking it will come apart at anytime. This is not good.
very poorly designed
March 17, 2012
This seat has a hole underneath, obviously something to do with the manufacturing. For men who, shall we say, go between the slits, the urine runs down the under side of the seat when lifted and collects in the hole. I don't know who designed this, but, it is not for males. Would work fine for women. It can not be returned, so I put it in the garbage. It is not inexpensive, so it is a waste of money. I wish there were some way to get a refund as the design is the problem. As far as getting a snug fit so it did not move when sat upon, could not really get that to happen. Overall, I am very unhappy with this purchase.
