Five Star Reviews: | 73% Be ready to work :) July 19, 2017 Got this saw as a replacement. Right out of box cut 63 pieces of 2x2x1/4 angle. It handled it with no problem or hesitation. I expect this to be a welcome addition to my arsenal. Five Stars August 19, 2016 Love it. came in in good shape even tho it's heavy. included blade has been working fine for me. Dewalt quality!! April 26, 2016 I bought this because I needed to make angled cuts on conduit pipe. This worked great for the job. I have owned many dewalt tools over the years and have been extremely happy with the quality. I'm still using a compound miter saw that I bought 20 or more years ago. Great for chopping up metal tubing August 13, 2015 Great for chopping up metal tubing. Can be used with sheet metal, but is pretty finicky with the thinner materials as the fence curves in at the bottom not giving a flat surface to push on. | 82% I love these blades February 21, 2016 I love these blades. 1 of them has lasted me almost 2 years of cutting steel, stainless and titanium regularly. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% Four Stars October 15, 2016 Nice product for the price. Hasn't bogged down yet while cutting thick steel. Nice product. great price, so i bought it July 10, 2015 great price, so i bought it......you really need the dewalt 5 hp instead of this one...but with the price 149 and dewalt 20 off....this unit saves time chopping through metal.........it is slower.......chop saws last 3 years on the average with daily use for me......get the bigger dewalt if you can afford it.......i have had them both..... | 11% works August 31, 2016 They cut well, but flex easily making cuts a little wonky at times, but that probably has a lot to do with the thickness. Okay May 14, 2016 Replacement for an old wheel. Haven't used it yet. Looks like the old one (most all new products are shadows of their former selves), so it's probably okay. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 7% Good saw for the price May 17, 2017 Good saw for the price, but not very precise. Not really the saw's fault, its just how abrasive wheels are. Going to move up to carbide when the wallet is full again. This chop saw works very nice but i would like it to have a slightly ... November 28, 2016 This chop saw works very nice but i would like it to have a slightly stronger lift spring (the saw does not stay in the full up position very well) I also have found the deck to be slightly light weight (does have tiny amount of flex when clamping material) and the placement of the saw head hold down chain is terrible (gets in the way). For the money it is a good chop saw but i should have spent a little more for a better one. It's ok for a cheap saw. Harbor Freight saw ... February 22, 2016 It's ok for a cheap saw. Harbor Freight saw would have been a cheaper price for about the same quality. Do not like the way the blade guard works November 7, 2015 Do not like the way the blade guard works. It tends to hang up at times. Nothing like the DeWalt miter saw, which operates smoothly and seems to me to be much better made than this chop saw it is useless with this saw because of the cheap stamped metal ... May 20, 2015 works well. Hint to DeWalt. Make the base so it will fit on the fold up Miter Saw Stand. I bought the adapter, and to my chagrin, it is useless with this saw because of the cheap stamped metal base. I bought the name. Mistake. Buy the cheap one, it will work just as well. C'mon folks. Let's do a little engineering! | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Not the best saw for mild steel August 8, 2017 I decided to try this saw for use in a welding project. The stock that I'm cutting with it is common mild steel square tubing 1" x 1/8" wall. The first few cuts the saw did a great job and cut through the steel with ease. Please know that this abrasion saw will throw sparks like a Fourth of July fountain in all directions, so relocate anything flammable. About the 5th cut it took a noticeably long time to cut the same material, and after consulting the troubleshooting section in the manual and various internet searches, it was clear that the cutting disk was glazing over. I took a wire brush and tried to roughen up the cutting disk and try again. Nope, i had to replace the disk with a new one. I'll make a note to try different cutting disks and see there are better ones to use. The other issue is that it doesn't come with an angle jig to secure angle iron in the fence. It does have a miter feature, but its not accurate and tends to move when you lock it down with the tension screw. You'll need to use a small square to make sure your cuts are straight after you lock it down. Knowing what i know now, i wouldn't have purchased this saw. Instead i would have spent the extra money on a Evolution saw with a steel blade. Few sparks, no overheating of the stock, quick cuts, and long lasting blade. Also if you plan to cut angle iron or square tubing make sure it has the angle jig attachment. I hope this helps someone who is looking to purchase this saw. Dewalt has went down hill December 13, 2016 They do not make these tools like they use to, the new owners at dewalt are using crap materials and cutting corners. Every new Dewalt brand tool I buy is dead in 3 years or less. The 3 year warranty is also crap, it doesn't cover "normal use". This specific tool was purchased in March of 2015 and died on December of 2016. Flimsy and cheaply made and not worth the money. September 16, 2016 I bought this one to replace the DeWalt D28715 that finally gave out after many years of use. The D28710 is much lighter duty with a lot of plastic and is just a cheap saw for a cheaper price than the D28715, Do yourself a favor and buy the 715 and for another $35 you get a heavy duty saw that if it lasts like my last one it will be well worth the extra money. This 710 is flimsy and cheap and not worth the money. If this is what you want, go to Harbor Freight and get one just as good for a lot less money! My mistake in buying the 710 will be rectified when I return the thing immediately. Now I see one of the big drawbacks of shopping on line sight unseen. Disappointed September 1, 2015 I own many dewalt tools...all perform better than expected...this one I've used a few times and I stopped using it...makes breaker switch off. Cuts very slow even with a good blade...not happy. | 2% Bad luck May 21, 2016 I got one with rough patch witch made it unsafe to use. Won't get this again just because QC didn't catch it. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 4% Can't cut straight. October 28, 2017 Trying to cut square tubing and once it cuts to the top horizontal face, it starts to go diagonal on the vertical faces. Blade is mounted tight and not wobbling. Not over-pushing either. Anyway, using a grinder now with a steel square - works a lot better. Motor draws more than 20 amps on initial startup. Switch/motor needs fixed so this does not happen. December 21, 2015 Motor seems to be drawing more than 20 amps on start up. It keeps tripping breakers upon startup. It is so bad that I had to put it on a 30 amp breaker to prevent the drip. When running it is not drawing more than 30 amps, but when it starts there are issues. Can't cut a warm stick of butter. I tried ... October 25, 2015 Can't cut a warm stick of butter. I tried for 3 minutes to cut a 1/8 thick 2 inch wide piece of flat steel - all I got was smoke and sparks. My 4 1/2 inch angle grinder cut through it in about 20 seconds. I even tried a new blade from a different manufacturer and it still would not cut anything. Returned it. Wouldn't cut a decent 45* Blades deflect badly!!! July 16, 2015 I bought this saw to replace an $80 HF chop saw that worked great for 5yrs of heavy use. Cuts like butter, BUT couldn't cut a clean 45* on 3x3x14ga sq tube or 4x4x1/8 sq tube. Deflected so badly it cut the base while cutting 4x4x1/8 tube on a 45*.using a dewalt blade rated for 1/4". . Couldn't see the deflection due to the guard. Obviously set miter with square, tried variances in blades (rated for 1/4" and up), technique, users...nothing worked. After NONE of our 45* tests coming anywhere near as close as our cheap saw (using the exact same blades) and after almost cutting the base for a third time on 3x3x14ga tube, BACK IT WENT! Also noticed trying to set rear fence in the back 2 positions difficult due to spring mount in the way. Crummy wire retaining clip holding blade spacer...I can see that breaking! Chain kept getting in the way of adjusting clamp. I really wanted this saw to work, sounded good on reviews but in reality...it didn't work for my shop. | 5% Don't bother, junk April 21, 2016 After only a few cuts, it becomes useless. Creates sparks, but no cutting. A total waste of money. This thing blew up on me. Only used a ... December 29, 2014 This thing blew up on me. Only used a handful of times.. been using a generic brand since then, no problems.THIS COULD HAVE REALLY DONE SOME DAMAGE IF IT HIT ME | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
