Five Star Reviews: | 52% These are great and sturdy for the price May 31, 2016 These are great and sturdy for the price. I like the style of the grabbers better than others, which is why I bought this set. You have to assemble to pieces when it firsts arrives, which just means screwing on the handles and the base. The holders swivels, like a lazy susan, so that when you are tending to the fire you can grab whatever you need most at that moment with ease instead of having to reach around. Made from cast iron. Just what I was looking for January 21, 2016 I love a good bargain and this set came at a great price and the quality is good.. My 16 year old son assembled this by himself and said it was easy to do. Looks nice on the mantel and works well for our needs. I priced these sets in the store and online and this set is MUCH cheaper than others I found. Why pay a lot of money for something you are going to poke a fire with and clean soot out of the fireplace with? Great starter tools, worth the price December 1, 2015 These are so nice and sturdy. If you're looking for something plain and simple but not so big, this is it. The assembly took me about 5 mins, very easy. However, I had 5 slots to put my tools in but only had 4 tools as you can see on my attachment. Build quality is "mostly" good. The broom unit brushes were a little compressed ... November 29, 2014 Used these tools now for 3+ months with my high efficiency wood stove. Build quality is "mostly" good. The broom unit brushes were a little compressed (skewed to one side) like it had been left to sit on them too long. Only issue experienced is that either the handle or bottom hook of the log poker loosens after a couple of uses. I will have to put some lock-tight or something similar on it. I only hand tightened (i.e. didn't use pliers) during initial assembly as to avoid scratching the tools. Shovel is sturdy and log "tongs" are useful as well. Admittedly, I use the shovel, broom and poker the most. Overall I'm quite happy with the purchase. Great set for the price January 17, 2014 I spent weeks researching fireplace sets for my husband. Initially, I ordered a set that was wrought iron and quite a bit more expensive. When that set arrived, I was shocked to find that the black paint was actually chippped on several of the items. Fortunately, Amazon is a wonderful company, and quickly issued a return label so I could ship it back. I subsequently chose this set as a replacement. It is wonderful, and my husband couldn't be happier. The pieces are very solid and feel good in the hand. They are also quite functional, particularly the gripper, which is useful for picking up and arranging hot pieces of wood. Additionally, the set looks lovely in my den. Very happy with this purchase and I would recommend this set to anyone searching for fireplace tools. High Quality, great price November 4, 2012 Got this set fast and it was easy to assemble. Strong heavy black steel that should last you a lifetime. Looks great and fully functional. Highly recommended and all you need. | 69% Boght to place BBQ Charcoal ashes in June 27, 2017 I bought this to put BBQ Charcoal ashes in so I could clean my grill while it was still hot. I often forgot to clean my grill till the next time I use it due to waiting till it was cool enough for me to clean out the ashes. I decided to get an ash bin that would be okay for hot ashes from my BBQ and this fits the bill perfectly. I can put hot ashes in it without worry. The can does get hot but since it sits on concrete and not near anything flammable, I am not worried. The lit is not as tight on mine as others have mentioned, it is perfect not too loose or too tight. This allows me to always put the grill away clean and cooled down easily. Very good product. I use my wood burning fireplace insert ... February 24, 2017 Very good product. I use my wood burning fireplace insert as a main heating source and clean it once a week . The one week constant burning ash fills around 1/2 of this bucket. The insert helps to burn the wood completely so only ash is left. I also have a special "Ash vacuum cleaner" which I use for the remaining fine ash , that is remaining around and inside the fireplace after the "rough cleaning" with the scoop, that is included with this ash bucket. Ash Bucket September 23, 2016 This is very nice, when it first came it was a bit out of shape and the lid would not fit, hubby just pushed on it so the lid would easily go on and stay on. We love it, looks nice and keeps the ashes from blowing all over. I would not set it on a surface with hot coals in it that was not fire safe, we think that would just be for safety reasons. Perfect for by my outdoor firepit - probably a bit large for by an indoor fireplace February 9, 2016 This bucket is perfect to keep near our outdoor firepit to scoop out the ashes. It is large, so for an indoor fireplace might not suit your needs unless you have a large hearth, but on an outdoor patio it is great. We had been lifting up the whole pit to dump it and I was tired of ending up covered in ashes so I finally decided to get a bucket and shovel for the task. This one is well mad and has been holding up to the elements well. It does what it should (it's a bucket that holds things and the scoop scoops). The holder for the scoop works well and keeps the entire ensemble looking nice. Not much more to say about it other than I would happily buy this again to fulfill any bucket/scoop needs This is an excellent tool to have when you have fireplaces and use ... November 26, 2015 This is an excellent tool to have when you have fireplaces and use them. It makes it very safe to clear out the ashes and not have to worry if any of the ashes are still hot and can cause a fire. I usually clear out the fireplace and leave the ashes in this bucket for 8 hours them place them in the trash. Very safe without being sorry. Very pleased - save yourself a bit of cash on this model February 14, 2011 My wife bought this for me for christmas. I've used it for a solid month and it easily took a full month's worth of ashes (and that's with almost 24/7 burning in a brand new wood burning stove) before I first had to empty it. But it's still relatively modest in size for the amount of ash it holds, it's attractive in a simplistic way, the wood handle grip feels nice, and the lid fits on fairly snugly (not airtight, but snug enough that it won't fall off without a solid hit under the lip). The shovel is a good size. The handle is NOT long, but that makes it more manueverable. The shovel could use a wood handle or something to prevent a hot hand from digging hot coals out, but that's a pretty minor nitpick and I've never actually had to drop the shovel...just came close once or twice when really working with hot coals.I definitely recommend this as a nice hearth ash bucket. Keep it outside on masonry after dumping hot ashes in it; it won't look out of place :) | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 24% Nice toolset for the fireplace November 10, 2016 We bought this tool set for our fireplace more as a decorative item since we have gas logs. If using in a regular fireplace I have no doubt that the sturdy case tools would hold up well. The only downside is the broom is a little flimsy with teh bristles. I'm sure it will work for my needs but not so sure about long term if I was burning real logs. They were very nice and returned my item with no problems but I ... February 27, 2016 I received this in a timely fashion but upon opening the shovel had a large dent with flakes of paint coming off. They were very nice and returned my item with no problems but I wish there was a way we could have just kept the set and gotten a new shovel instead of returning everything and having to repurchase. Overall this seems like a quality set for the price but there was no damage to the box so obviously quality control isn't real great. Solid cast-iron fireplace tools that do their job January 1, 2016 Solid and sturdy products. Easy to assemble, although everything doesn't screw together perfectly straight (for those who may be bothered by this). Everything does its job as it should. Only negative I can potentially see is that the fibers in the broom seem like they can be susceptible to falling out easily. All things considered, I would definitely recommend this product based on price and quality. Good value for the money, but not perfect February 15, 2015 PROS: Among the least expensive among similar offerings; sturdy enough for the purpose - seems to be holding up well during first few weeks of heavy usage with a small woodstove, small footprint, and well-balanced (does not feel like less stable once a tool or two is taken off one side)CONS: Several of the shaft holes were drilled off-center or incompletely - assembly was possible but with some added effort and 4-in-1 Reasonable stand January 7, 2015 Good fireplace set, at a reasonable price. They LOOK really good... The stand is a little bit wobbly tho at times, i think the screw comes loose at the bottom a bit but its totally worth it for the price. The log grabber is not capable of picking up really heavy logs without bending a bit, but still works great. Does the job - and at a great price. November 20, 2014 This is certainly not the finest fire set you'll find. There's some wiggle and play in the stand and the pieces are not super solid. However, for the price, it's a fantastic set and does the job nicely. If you're really picky about your fire set get something else, but if you're like me and just need it occasionally it gets the job done. | 18% good ash bucket May 4, 2017 Overall, good ash bucket. Nice size, shovel is sturdy. Top didn't actually fit until we bent and reshaped the bucket itself. I will finish it with a darker stain to make it look more like the picture March 19, 2017 Product is well constructed and as described. The only caveat is the handle looks a lot brighter than the picture, making it look a bit cheap. I will finish it with a darker stain to make it look more like the picture. Shovel is much better than what I've been using March 10, 2017 Works as advertised. Shovel is much better than what I've been using. Good value. Bucket and see! December 10, 2016 Bought this with fireirons and a log tote, happy with everything! Bucket is lightweight so easy to carry, lid fits well, shovel is sturdy enough to be useful. A good buy. Works for my wood burning stove January 29, 2016 For the price, this ash bucket works. I frankly wish that it were built of thicker gauge and were more dent resistant, but this is what you get nowadays. The spot riveted on shovel carrier is convenient, but it is possible to get the bail under the shovel, leading to a #^*+ it moment until you straighten it out. I am old enough to remember when all trash cans were galvanized steel and heavy duty. If I were running, say, a coal stove, that's what I would hold out for. For a fireplace or wood burning stove, this ash bucket will work. Simple, sturdy, large-capacity ash bucket November 17, 2013 I really needed a "real" ash bucket, since I make a lot of fires in my woodstove and the ash really builds up in there. I was tired of using my large stewing pots for ash! This bucket is nice and plain and sturdy (I was looking for both). It's not heavy (empty). The shovel that comes with it is convenient, and it's well-designed: the scoop is broad and has flat edges that makes it very easy to pick up a large volume of ash at once. The "holster" for the shovel is also really nice. The two things that are issues (albeit very minor ones) for me are its size (it's BIG - 13" dia at the top x 13" tall) and how the lid doesn't exactly lift off easily. If you have plenty of space on your hearth, go for it. If you have limited space, Measure first! Imagine a 13"x13" box sitting there. I'm not sure if the lid is support to have a "hitch" to it for safety reasons (ie, so that it can't tip over and spill hot ash out on your floor) or if I just managed to get a "hitchy" one. Arguably, it's going to be safer if the lid stays closed, but this lid has no particular safety closure (clasp, hook, etc). I don't have dogs or kids, so it's not an issue for me. Unless you're cramped for space, I highly endorse it!And of course... always empty your fireplace or stove when it's cool, and never assume there aren't any hidden hot coals in there!Hope this helps! | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% Good enough to stick in a coal bed September 14, 2016 Does the job, looks better from a distance. Clearly made cheaply in some Chinese factory staffed with hand toilers. Handle holes off center, threads in poor shape and porous surface on all the casings (think pot-metal in an over used casting mold). Been there twice so I know what I am talking about. This was a nice looking, cheap fire place set and overall serves ... July 5, 2016 This was a nice looking, cheap fire place set and overall serves its purpose well. However, the poker piece broke off the handle after about a month of normal use, which was disappointing. I contacted Amazon and they sent us a replacement set which was great and we've had no problems with the new set so far. So-So Fireplace set February 29, 2016 The wooden handles keep "unscrewing" from the posts. Perhaps we need to glue the two together, but that shouldn't have to be the case. Plain January 13, 2016 This fireplace set is ok. It feels heavy duty, but doesn't look too fancy. Assembly is easy. The bristles on the brush aren't too thick. If I saw this on a store shelf and was able to put my hands on it, I wouldn't buy it again, Keep Looking for a better set November 4, 2015 The set looks great. However, the pieces do not screw together right, especially the base section. Trying to screw in the threaded rod into the base was virtually impossible. I spent 45 minutes trying almost everything with no success. The manufacturing tolerances are poor. Get what you pay for December 19, 2014 I was looking for a cheap, simple, effective set of tools to use in my fireplace, and that is just what these are. It's a "get what you pay for" product, and that is just fine with me. | 7% Its basically a bucket that is painted black. Serves ... February 19, 2017 Its basically a bucket that is painted black. Serves is purpose, but you could get a silver one for about half the price. Lid arrived damaged. Other components are fine December 13, 2016 The lid came bent and doesn't sit flush with the bucket and takes a bit of maneuvering to get on as a result. Bucket itself is large and sturdy, shovel seems fine, but whether the result of poor packaging or poor craftsmanship, the lid came damaged. More of a decoration March 29, 2014 This is more of a decorative or accent piece than anything else. Extremely light weight some what like a cookie tin would be. Same for the shovel and lid, light weight. The lid does not lock down and if the bucket is accidentally knocked over (Murphy's Law) I fear that the contents would spill out. For the occasional user this might fit the bill but I am going for a sturdier galvanized pail with a locking lid to insure any hot coals are well contained. It may not be attractive but definitely a lot more practical. Functional February 6, 2014 The pail was slightly bent upon arrival. It didn't surprise me, however, because the metal is very thin and easily bendable. The shovel isn't very stout either. I guess I was expecting a slightly heavier gauge metal. Overall, I can use the pail for my ashes and it will probably last a awhile as long as I don't bump it into a wall or drop the shovel, but definetely not worth $35. Maybe a $10 bucket. Decent ash bucket for the price January 30, 2013 I'm pretty happy with this purchase. It does the job I use it for - removing spent ashes from my woodstove. Both the bucket and shovel are made from fairly thin metal, and the paint scrapes off a little too easily. I'm not sure why they painted the inside of the bucket, and what is the ribbon that comes with the shovel for? It seemed like a fire hazard to me, so I cut it off. There is no instruction sheet and there is very little written on the box other than "ash bucket" - I assume this is some kind of legal strategy? As others have indicated, this thing is probably bigger than it needs to be - I'd say about 3/4 the size of a 5-gallon bucket. On the positive side, the lid does fit pretty snug (although I doubt it would contain the ashes if it tipped over), and the pocket to store the shovel is handy. The shovel itself is a good size for my stove (a fireplace shovel is too awkward), and does a good job scooping out the ash. Note that I don't use the bucket to store hot coals, just ash, or 95% ash. I'm trying to avoid what another reviewer experienced - an overheated bucket smelling like burn paint. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 5% Parts missing, low quality, no thanks January 27, 2016 There were several pieces missing in the box including the shovel head and shaft. No explanation from the seller. The fireplace set is cheap quality -- you definitely get what you pay for. We returned these and bought a set for about double the price that is much better quality and better looking. Would not recommend these. Disappointed. January 3, 2016 After just a couple months of use, I'm replacing this set. The log grabber (which I haven't even used that much) just broke - the connecting bolt between the pieces just sheared off. Also, from the beginning, the handles and end pieces keep coming unscrewed, which is very aggravating. Nice looking set, but very poorly made. Great service, terrible quality. April 9, 2015 I bought this earlier this year. The tools are acceptable. The set took two weeks to arrive. When I tried to assemble it, the yoke (part that holds the tools) was defective. There was excess metal flashing on one of the prongs so none of the tools could be hung there. I called the manufacturer. They offered to replace it. Two weeks later, I had a new yoke... also defective. This one had extreme pitting and missing metal. I called them again. They offered to send a third part. Two weeks later, I had a third defective yoke. This one had the same problem as the first one. You couldn't hang the tools from it because of excess metal. Rather than get another defective part from the company, I decided to fix it myself. I bought a metal file set and a can of black spray paint, filed down one of the yokes, painted it, and now I have a working file set. The cost of the tools and paint is less than the additional cost of the next cheapest tool set.You get what you pay for. If you don't mind fixing this product yourself, it's probably a good buy. If you want a well-made set, you'll have to look elsewhere. And pay a lot more. Nice set, but the handles come off really easily ... March 17, 2015 Nice set, but the handles come off really easily and the cast iron is very brittle. It didn't take much time before the tongs were completely warped from the heavy-ish logs we burn. The base also is a bit unsteady and falls over easily. The top holder brackets broke from the tongs being inserted after they had warped. All in all, it is an okay set if you don't need expect to be using it day to day. Cheap. Put your money into a better set! December 9, 2014 Cheap. Shovel was bent. Bad paint job with bumps from where paint dripped. I would return it, but I only paid 15 bucks for it. Not worth a penny more, either. Looked nice, until it broke upon assembly.. October 2, 2013 Unit arrived on time and with intact packaging.Assembly was simple (threaded handles/tools) and all seemed good... until I went to actually hang the tools in the stand. One of the tool holders was poorly cast and snagged the shaft of the tool. Attempting to pull the tool out snapped the entire holder piece off the unit. (I'm sending it back still stuck to the tool shaft cause I can't get it off now.)so... if all the holders had been shaped properly - it would have looked nice... but construction was shoddy and prevented even one day of use.. I'm now suspect of the durability of the metal itself. | 2% Warped, overly large lid, otherwise acceptable but ugly. January 4, 2017 It works, it's not too bulky, but the lid as others complained is not sized to the item correctly and it was not flat - it has a warp. For the price I didn't want to pay $20 or $30 more to upgrade so this is where we sit. I returned it and wouldn't recommend it at all May 23, 2016 The handle was broken off and the bucket was very thin and flimsy. I returned it and wouldn't recommend it at all. Shovel was fine, though! repacked item June 30, 2014 It's okay but while recycling the boxes I noticed that the box had tape on all the open edges so it had to be a return which explains the slight crease in the lid. To late to return the item, very disappointed. they didn't check the return very closely. Only works with cold ashes January 2, 2014 Holds a good amount of ash however if Ashes are still hot it will melt the can. Would not recommend for wood stove if planning to use often because your ashes will always be somewhat hot. Top doesn't fit October 16, 2013 The lid is warped. Doesn't sit on the top of the can correctly. Otherwise, it would be a nice bucket. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 9% Poorly constructed threads. 70% functional until I fix it with metal sealant. JUNK December 29, 2015 Knobs wouldn't thread and 3 fall off if you lift the tool. Thankfully the 2 that worked I attached to the poker and shovel. Guess I'll go to the auto store and get some thread sealant. No wonder it was on sale for like $23 less. Guess you get what you pay for. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. BOGUS PICS September 29, 2015 When you blow the picture up, it appears to be a gray finish with a black bottom which is what I expected.....all of these are totally black, its going back....false pics, buyers beware....whatever type of finish he has listed....its BLACK Defective / impossible to put together - returned February 11, 2015 We had to return this item because it was impossible to put together. 2 screws were stripped within the first minute of putting all the pieces together and the set was lopsided on top it. This product is not sturdy and definitely not worth the price. Made in China and it shows December 31, 2014 Definitely avoid this one. I knew I was in trouble when even the poker needed assembled. Yes, 3 pieces for that. I ultimately couldn't assemble the entire unit as some of the handles simply didn't screw onto the rods. Made in China and it shows. Bad quality January 10, 2014 With the reasonable price for the fireplace tools set, I expected the quality to be just so so. When I got the package today, I was very disappointed, and kind of pissed off on how bad the tools set's quality it is. I can't tell if the product was brand new or slightly used and packaged again to sell to me. There are some minor scratches on the tools, which I can take. The fireplace brush is in a very bad condition, the brush hair falls off constantly and make a mess on the floor... Also there seems some black dye of the brush keeps coming off on my hand when I touch. I tried to clean the brush but seems can't fix the problem. I just throw away the brush tool since it is not usable.Besides the major problem with the brush, I found out the black paint on handles of other tools is also coming off a little. This is a very cheaply made product. Very Low Quality -- Not Worth the $$ December 16, 2013 This product is very low quality. After screwing all the pieces together tightly, they still come loose and swivel around while in use. The broom piece is a cheap plastic that is very difficult to assemble. The base is wobbly. Overall, I wish I had just paid more for a higher quality product. This is not worth the money. | 4% no shovel? April 16, 2017 this product arrived without the shovel. doesn't make much sense and it says it's a non returnable product. One Star October 1, 2016 First 2 received were smashed in. Very cheaply made as others stated. Shop around on this one One Star September 1, 2016 this is a cheaply made item that should never be trusted with potentially live embers. Crap May 18, 2016 Crap. It was delivered damaged. It's paper thin. I plan on returning it right away. Don't buy this product. Low quality for the price December 17, 2015 This product was damaged both times I ordered it. The material it is made of is light which can be a good thing if you have a lot of ash in it, but it dents very easily, and the lid was warped. I finally bought a different product after 2 failed attemps. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
