Finally a Grill That Works Properly!
January 3, 2016
Being a bit of a "foodie", we grew tired of all these fancy grills that looked great and cooked like a hot plate. We have the matching pizza oven that also blows the doors off of everything else we've tried. Anyway, put this through its paces last night with it have covered with the veggie tray, a lb of fresh salmon and a cheeseburger for mini me. Later in the night I went out and cooked 4 hot dogs. These were 2 areas all else sucks! Multiple items of varying make-up or a few small items. 1 thing burns and the other bakes instead if searing. FINALLY! A grill that's really just right is surface size and cooks at the temperature the dial states. Buy the stand separately as I've found the grill with stand to be significantly more expensive over buying both separately. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any flashy, larger, stainless steel, strong branded grill that cooks like this for less than $1000.00 and look how much more of your deck you get to keep!
Excellent quality compact grill
March 2, 2012
Hello all,I bought this grill, cover, hose adaptor and stand( US$ 253.00 total) about 2 weeks ago and I am very impressed with the design, quaility, easy of assembly and use, and of course the quaility of the grilled foods. The cover is made of stainless steel and each side table is stainless as well which makes it look classy and expensive. The grill is put together and ready to be used out of the box. The grill is a bit heavy but not really much of an issue. It comes with a stainless steel plate that is used for cooking vegetables. The grill starts immediately (push and turn to light the burner to the left and the heat comes on quickly. It heats up quickly and heats evenly. the temperature gauge on the top is very accurate. The size is more than adequate for an average size family.I grilled chicken wings, lamb, tiger shrimps and chicken breasts and all came out well done and juicy. Before 1st use:You should season it before using to get extend the life of the grate. It has a oating of wax/oil on it, so you should wash it the first time with very hot water and dish washing liquid to remove the wax/oil. Dry it andthen coatboth sides with olive oil. Put it into your oven at about 400 degrees and leave it for about 45 minutes. after turn heat off and let it cool. you are now ready to grill.Other points:1.The grate is reversible. On one side the bars of the grate come to a pointlike an inverted 'V'. This is good for steaks, chicken, lamb etc and you get that master grill mark on the meat. on the other side the surface is flat and wider and is good for grilling burgers or delicate foods, it is easier to get a spatula under the food for easy turning.2.Easy to clean and store away.3.Easy to transport the grill and the folding stand on trips.I highly recommend this grill to anyone who loves to grill without the hassle of charcoal. Can't wait to try it out in Tobago when my wife and I go for holidays this Esater.
Great portable grill
October 21, 2011
I ordered this grill when I saw it being offered as the Deal of the Day. I purchased the stand, the hose adaptor for 20 lb. propane cylinder, as well as the grill cover. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised with this grill. First of all, the major components come assembled, all that is required is to attach the grill to the frame(legs) and voila, you are pretty much ready to grill. The grill appears to be very well built, and the extra accessories I purchased fit perfectly and are easy to use. The foldable stand is very nice; however, I would ask people to exercise caution when setting it up, since you may get one of your fingers caught in between the moving parts (didn't happen to me, but I could definitely see the potential for injury). The cover is of good quality and it's also waterproof (at least water resistant where the water does not appear to penetrate). It was put to the test as soon as I received it, since it was sitting in my backyard for almost a week during which it constantly rained. Upon removing the cover, I was surprised to see my grill perfectly dry. The only drawback is that the cover only protects the grill, which leaves the optional stand uncovered, which I don't think is a big problem given the good quality of the stand. In regards to grilling, I can honestly say that this grill performed very well. The grilling surface is rather spacious, allowing one to cook a considerable amount of food. The heat is evenly distributed along the surface, allowing the user to maximize the cooking space. We are a family of four and this grill was able to accomodate enough food to satisfy our appetite. In regards to flare ups, I noticed that there were some , but they are common when the meat being cooked has relatively high fat content. I don't step away from the grill while I am using it, which helps me address the flare ups when they occur.Last but not least, cleaning the grill was relatively easy, the grate and the flame tamer are easily removable and can be cleaned in the sink, sice their size is manageable. The grease "cup" should be removed after every grilling session, since the capacity is limited (it's a portable grill after all). With the grate and tamer removed, the bottom of the grill is exposed, allowing you to clean the bottom of the grill easily.Overall, I would recommend this grill to those who want to have the convenience of portability. Also, the compact size is helpful for those who may have limited space. The relatively small size does not compromise capacity, which is very important to me. I was skeptical about buying this grill, but I am gla I made the decision. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.Happy Holidays and Happy grilling!
Definitely worth the money
March 12, 2011
I previously had a Weber Q which was a good grill but the one flaw of that grill is that there is nothing to cover the burner tubes so they would always get clogged by the food drippings. I was tired of constantly cleaning and replacing those tubes so I sold it and searched the internet for a replacement grill. This grill came up mostly all the time with the best reviews. I decided to purchase and I am definitely happy I did. Assembly was simple--grill is already put together, the only thing you have to do is just put the legs on the grill and you're done. As other reviewers have stated, this thing does heat up fast. I turned it on to pre-heat, went to prep my steaks (about 5 min) and when I came back the grill was hot, already past 500 and ready to go. I had rib-eyes and it seared perfectly. I did 4 minutes on each side (turning every 2 min 90 degrees to get those X grill marks), then let the steaks sit for about 10 min. Perfectly cooked medium rare steaks. So far I have done Steaks, Chicken, fish, and vegies on the grill and all turned out great. Operation is very simple as I showed my wife, who is usually very jittery about the grills, and she is now grilling all the time with it...even more than me. There is a drip pan but nothing really gets to that cause most of the drippings fall on the flame guard then burn off. I lined the inside with heavy duty foil for easier clean up but even without it, it wouldn't be that difficult to clean. I absolutely recommend this product.
Somethings are a bargain......
September 27, 2010
I was a little skeptical about a product like a "portable grill" with Cuisinart stamped on the top of the lid.Usually means pretty good quality. Looked great in the pictures. Most if not all of the reviews were muchbetter than average. So after buying 2 to 3 supposed to be portable grills all with very disappointing resultsfor various reasons I thought ONCE MORE I would ATTEMPT to get a real portable table top gas grill. Cuisinartmust have read my mind!! This grill has EVERYTHING and more a full sized grill has. Already put together ..right out ofthe box....Just screw the grill on to the base. 4 wing nuts. 2 mins time!! Screw your portable tank on ..purchased at awell know big box store for less than 3 bucks...then Just turn oversized knob all the way to the right...heard the click..andvoila.!! INSTANT HEAT... 500 degrees in 5 mins. Grill top is easy to clean. Bottom grease trap is teflon coated...Very light weight with handles on both sides for ergonomic handling. VERY LARGE grill surface for portable grill. I probably willnever use my large grill again...That is the only negative thing I think about after receiving and using this grill a couple of times!! BUY ONE..and don't look back!!
Excellent little grill - great company, too!
April 27, 2010
Two winters in a row, my large, "famous maker" grill got caught in high winds and crashed to the ground, face first. The second time was fatal, due to the high cost of replacement parts. After much research, I settled on this grill. I had prior experience with the Cuisinart name and liked their products, so I thought I'd give this a try. My prior grill was connected to our big propane tank, the primary purpose of which was to fuel our gas fireplace. I assumed I'd be able to do the same with this grill. After a very quick installation and test with an old propane camping cartridge, I decided to set about removing the supplied regulator to figure out what kind of adaptor I'd need to mate up with my big tank. Suffice it to say that things quickly went awry and I ended up damaging the saddle valve on the regulator assembly. To keep it short, let's just say that I was VERY impressed with their customer service. I was very up-front with them about my culpability, but they still sent me a replacement regulator - gratis - in two days! After a talk with my propane guy, he told me that I could use the customary external tank (smaller) with an adapter hose, which I did. The following weekend, I had an opportunity to cook several steaks and hamburgers for a family gathering. There was plenty of room on the grill for three large steaks and a couple of hamburgers at once. Suffice it to say that its cooking capacity is more than adequate for our usual requirements. The grill is very nicely designed. The two side panels, which swing in under the cover when not in use, swing out and mate with a couple of small supports that give them adequate rigidity for supporting the usual stuff you need to have nearby (plates of hamburgers, salt, pepper, utensils). The grill surface is a nice, one-piece design that is reversible. It has both flat and sharp-edged surfaces. The grill hood has a nice bar handle that stayed cool to the touch. I've gotten a good, dependable start from the igniter built into the knob/valve assembly each time I've fired it up.It does seem to take a bit longer than my previous grill (a 3-burner beast) to get up to temperature, but once it was hot, it was a great little performer. I'm very happy with my purchase - and with Cuisinart customer support.

Great little grill
August 5, 2016
I love the size of this grill. It's big enough to cook 9-10 burgers. Poorly designed handle. The 2 side tables swivel into the grill on top of the burner so the space between the table and the handle is too small to put your fingers through to hold onto. Since I use it on my patio I don't fold it down and this means I have to lift it up and push it when moving it since it only has 2 wheels. But since there's a bar at the bottom it's very awkward to move. (moving it out/in from under the patio cover) The side tables are kinda flimsy too but they work okay. It does fold down quickly and easily.
Nice Grill Overall
February 7, 2016
The assembly of this grill is aggravating. 16 screws just for the leg assembly. The two clevis pins that connect the grill to the stand are challenging and the cotter pins that keep them in place are also. The overall design of the grill is very good. The way the side tables fold inward is very nice. The cast iron grate is nice also. Keep in mind that the outside is stainless steel but it's "Chinese" stainless and there is a big difference. Chinese stainless is very thin and spots easily. The grill ignitor is not very reliable and takes multiple attempts but after you get it lit, the grill heats up quick and cooks very well. The grill is very efficient and gets very hot. I was able to cook 3 times on a one pound cylinder. Close to three hours of cooking time.Overall I am satisfied but being made in China, I doubt the grill will last as long as it should.
I actually really like this grill
August 16, 2015
So, I actually really like this grill. I've grilled on it maybe 100 times now and think it does a pretty good job. The biggest issue I've had is that it cooks at different heats depending on the place on the grill. On, and when it gets hot, it gets real hot. Be careful because the grill is very close to the flame so your food may cook quicker than you think.
Works for me
May 27, 2015
This is the first grill we've had in many years, and we were pleasantly surprised at how easy the built-in thermometer makes it! And it's the first gas grill we've ever had. We've used it a lot, and we've had excellent results. Only problem is the gas doesn't always flow. The first time it happened, I thought the tank was empty. But when I took it in to be filled, the guy said it was nearly full. He topped it off, and the charge was less than a dollar, so it was very full. It happened a couple of more times. Don't know why the gas wouldn't flow, but I've found if I disconnect the hose from the tank after grilling, the problem doesn't happen. When I leave it attached, sometimes (not always) no gas enters the fire chamber. A grilling friend said it's probably the regulator, but I hate returning items and starting over, so I'm just unhooking the gas canister after grilling and attaching it again the next time I grill. Works for me.
Excellent Grille except for the drip pan.
August 12, 2014
This grille is an awesome grille other the oil drip hole does not drip into the pan. I used this grille for camping. They have attachments to allow this grille to be used with travel trailers that come with the hook up to use the on onboard propane tanks. I did not have a very good experience with the propane that was supplied with the RV. The pressure was low and it was not able to power the grille to bring the heat above 300 degree F. I changed the grille over to the bottle propane tanks and I was able to bring the heat to over 500 degrees F. I will update this post as I find out how to make the grille work properly with onboard propane tank.4 out 5 for the oil drip pan.
Amazing little grill - can't live without it
May 16, 2013
I absolutely love this mini-grill, it works so much better than my full sized grill and, since it's small, I located it just outside my kitchen so I can grill any time at all.I've always loved grilling, but it always seemed like a pain. Either I'd have to take the time to get the charcoal ready or would have to go downstairs to our patio to use the big gas grill (which never seems to heat properly...). But since I got the CGG-200 and placed it on the porch outside the kitchen, I've been grilling items for virtually every meal. I even made my morning eggs and roasted vegetables on it since I prefer cooking with gas instead of the electric cook-top.The cooking area is the perfect size for my wife and I. And it heats up to 550F in no time, so by the time I've got my ingredients together, the grill is good to go. Now, I've combined it with the Lodge Logic LDP3 Double Play Reversible Grill/Griddle and it's the 'perfect' gas grill. I also purchased the Cuisinart Folding Grill Stand after using the grill for a few days because I was tired of getting grease on my patio table. The pair works very well together while maintaining the portability of the unit. The place where the grill falls a little short is in the flame diverter. For some reason, there are a few holes in it where the flames lick up and scorch the food. I'm not sure what's up with that design, but it does lead to some creative rearranging of food during cooking or you'll end up with burned items. This is one of the reasons I added the cast iron grill surface. That greatly reduces this problem.Overall, this is a great grill, and at the discounted price I got it at recently, it was a steal. I highly recommend it: it's convenient, portable and heats up quickly.

like this grill wish the panel between fire and grates was a little heaver, does not last long
It become extremely tedious.
January 16, 2017
the grill was originally a 5 star grill. Over time the grill does not come up to temperature. The only way to get it up to temperature is to take it apart and clean the holes where the flames light after every single use. It become extremely tedious.
its pretty okay but it eats those little tanks like pacman

Okay grill, but flimsy construction and terrible assembly directions
July 7, 2014
The assembly directions for this grill leave something to be desired. They insist that you're supposed to put washers under the grill on the bolts that hold the grill to the stand, and then another set on the same bolts inside the grill... but the bolts are insufficiently long to accommodate both washers. The various holes through which you're supposed to put bolts don't line up accurately. Additionally, the washers that go on the bolts at the front part of the grill are supposed to be adhesive; what this really means is that they have shoved an un-masked strip of double-sided tape in the bag with all the other hardware. Naturally, the double-sided tape becomes completely covered in dirt and debris, rendering it unable to stick to the washers or the grill. The double-sided tape didn't even have a perforations in the shape of the washers! The metal of the bottom of the grill and the stand feels flimsy, as do the clips holding the flame guard in place.Once it was assembled, it performed its job well enough. I do not have high hopes for its longevity, however.TL;DR: Assembly is irritating and badly designed. Metal feels flimsy. However, it seems to grill just fine.
Perfect BBQ after first try
May 29, 2014
Wow, if this thing continues to bbq as good as it did after my first try, we will be in good shape. My wife (who has never bbq'd) even wants to start using it. To break it in, I did a combo of pork shoulder steak, pork sausage, and a couple of veggie kabobs. There were some very minor flare ups but they quickly extinguished as the fat rolled down the cover over the burner and into the drip cup (which I lined with foil).Assembly was a pain. Needed my wife's help in order to put the grill on the stand. There is some chain hanging off the left side that is not mentioned in the manual and I have no idea of its purpose.Following the directions, I attempted to heat the grill for 15 minutes on high to break it in. NO LUCK. The electronic ignition did not work. I removed the grill and burner cover and no spark was produced when attempting to light it. It lighted easily with a long fireplace lighter. I will be calling Cuisinart tomorrow. Also, this grill is affected by wind. When doing the break in, I noticed the temperature varying 125 degrees. Whenever a slight breeze came up the temp dropped. When the breeze subsided, the temp continued to climb. But it never got over 500 degrees and the gauge goes to 600 degrees. I was able to cook perfectly around 350 to 400 degrees.I also ordered the hose to connect to a 20lb tank and that worked fine as does the cover (sold separately).
Base couldn't be attached because of defects in parts. Replacement Good!
May 4, 2014
This review is strictly of the unit's ease in putting it together. Basically a child should be able to attach the base to the grill because it attaches at the four corner of the top of the base to the grill with basic screw/washers/bolts. However unless I had a machine shop mine could not be attached. The issues:1. There are two "adhesive washers" that go between the grill and base in the front which would not come off the adhesive so it was like trying to have small pieces of paper between two moving parts. I taped mine down because that was the only way to keep them in place over the bolt holes while sitting the grill on top.2. There are two bolt holes on the front that an attached screw goes into. One of the holes had no threads inside so you couldn't screw it into place. I tried using other things in my work box to replace the screw but that was not possible because of number 3.3. The holes in the grill have to match up with the holes/screws on the base and in my case they only matched up on one side. It was only about 1/8 of an inch off on the defective side but with a small bolt that is like covering up a third of the hole! You can't stretch it to fit obviously because it is metal.4. There are black plastic washers to use between the pieces which are junk. I plan to use my own washers on the next one. Who uses plastic washers on a grill that can get really hot?I am typically very good at putting things together and figuring out a fix when there is a problem. But despite over 5 hours of trying I wasn't able to fix this one. I wish I could afford the Weber grills that are made in America, although I understand that the small one like the Cuisinart I purchased is also made in China. In any event assuming the replacement can be put together I will adjust my review of how the grill actually works and adjust the rating accordingly.UPDATE: UPS came and picked up the defective one free of charge and I recieved the replacement quickly. It went together easily and everything lined up just like it should have. I have used the grill just once but my observation is that it does a good job but gets really hot really quick and all surfaces will be hot enough to burn so make sure you have it set on something that can withstand the heat, won't topple over and is protected from a child's curious fingers. Mine was over 500 degrees on the high setting and I opened up the lid with my bare hand and yes it burned. Now I know to check the temp. gage on the hood and adjust it to the correct heat and to always touch any part with pot holders. It left perfect grill sear marks on the steak and I was happy with the performance. The manual does not give you any information on grill techniques and if you are a novice I strongly recommend a good cook book on grilling or reading some articles on the internet as to what you are cooking.I did do the leak test on the propane connection and mine passed, but it is important to do this test every time and make sure you stand to the side of the grill when turning it on. Gas can accumulate at the bottom if you have a leak and can literally blow this up in your face. It takes only seconds to mix one part dishwashing liquid with 3 parts water (I used a teaspon to measure as that makes plenty and then brush it on around where the propane cannister attaches. If you see any bubbles come up than you have a leak and you need to take the cannister off and reattach and redo the test after 5 minutes. Keep the lid open for the 5 minutes between so that gas will better vent out from grill. There are instructions on this in the manual.

Not off to a good start
August 10, 2017
I had high hopes for this and I'm hoping to still turn this negative review into a positive one when we go to actually use the grill. So far all we have done is attempt to assemble it. The geniuses who packaged this together put the stand together backwards. We triple checked to make sure it wasnt operator error but sure enough the whole stand was put together wrong. My husband has to disassemble what was put together, flip one of the stands around, drill a new hole and reassemble what should have been done at the factory. Now that it's done we get to use it next week. We didn't want to return it because it would have taken longer to return it and get it back then just fix it ourselves but good grief!!! How frustrating! The grill itself looks great and it's going to be perfect for our camping trailer but we were not happy at all with what we got up to now. Oh and did I mention that the packaging inside is awful.. the sides are all wrapped in styrofoam as they should be but there is nothing protecting the top lid of the grill so during shipping it was damaged and there was a dent on the top of the lid... my husband was able to beat the dent back out and it looks fine now but it was just one more thing to add to the list. I really hope that we have better luck with it while using it then we did while assembling it.
Big disappointment. Lower quality than Cuisinart has been known for and no pleasure to use
January 30, 2017
I've purchased many great items on Amazon but this grill is a big disappointment. Right out of the box we noticed that it is not of the quality we've found in past Cuisinart products. Lightweight, almost tinny. But we soldiered on, expecting it might still deliver a decent grilling experience. Not so. The biggest issue by far is the design of the flame tamer. It is flat with no real slope to allow fat from the items being grilled to drain off. Thus there are almost constant flameups, so one must be on constant alert to not wind up with super charred, cancer inducing steak. We purchased this in the spring and used it less than a dozen times over the summer and will likely pitch it b/f the next season. We've gotten better results with the far less expensive Char-Broil we've used in seasons past. A big thumbs down, Cuisinart.
For the money, I wish I had just saved ...
July 15, 2016
For the money, I wish I had just saved a little more and gotten a larger grill. After only a few uses, the holes in the flame "U" or whatever you call that part, seem to have gotten clogged up, so now every time I use it, I have to take a skewer and unclog the holes, just so that a flame can come out of the tiny holes. It even has that protective cover over it but that doesn't seem to help much either. Don't cook anything that will drip too much grease or you will be doing the same skewering that I have to. Also the flame guard is so thick that it is hard to see the flames and whether or not they are lit have the time.
So Disappointed!!
November 21, 2015
Bought in Nov 2012. Last week while grilling I lifted up the lid and it fell off in back of the grill to the patio. So disappointed. We have loved this little grill. The top of the grill is attached by brads and they rusted.
Where's the heat?
May 26, 2015
Low heat output. On high the temp won't go above 300 degrees, making it pretty difficult to do any searing or grilling of anything with much mass without taking an hour.
Faulty cart assembly!
May 5, 2014
I have used the grill twice now and love it -- I've been wanting this particular grill for quite some time so was anxious to get it. When I noticed there was a model with a foldaway cart I was thrilled! The grill arrived put together, however, the cart was not. We spent many hours assembling and disassembling the cart to try and get it to accommodate the grill but with no success. After speaking with a rep from Fulham, we were sent photos which proved our conclusion --- the pre-assembled legs were assembled backwards!! We were forced to disassemble the mfr portion... screws and springs which had been painted over, making it quite difficult to remove. When a consumer orders something, we assume that the portion that comes assembled is correct... BEWARE! I can't imagine that mine is the only one that was backwards. Make sure the left leg points to the left and the right to the right.... mine did not, creating major difficulties in fitting to the grill. Once corrected, assembly was simple and I am happy now. I would order again, but with a different cart.

Frost trip out weld broke on the stand that holds the grill up. Not happy Can we get a new base under warranty
You will thank me later
October 5, 2016
Wow, loved it until we hated it. Looks well designed, fires right up, relatively good heat distribution. On the second use the attached side tables which slide in for storage fell apart. A small weld that was just too cheaply done. Thought I could fix it eventually. On the next trip set up the grill and one of the grill hinge assemblies fell completely apart, the parts lost and the hood hanging and difficult to operate.I looked at the reviews on Amazon and others and thought I had made a good choice with this grill. Then I noticed sever posts saying good design but cheaply made in China. I don't think things made in China are necessarily bad but this thing is a low end piece of crap :-) sorry.Below is a picture of what I did with this grill after it's 3rd use and second breakdown during a recent RV trip. The trip was great. Thanks Lincoln State Park for having a dumpster near by. Move on... you'll thank me later.
Won't light
September 28, 2016
I've owned one of these for a couple of years, and while I've had to replace a number of parts that's likely due to normal use. This second one was purchased for a second home and won't light for more than a second or two. Returning and buying one at Home Depot.
This worked fine until I tried to use the larger tanks with ...

First of all the grill ignition doesn't work properly and trying to light it is a challenge. Secondly there was a leak and it kept back firing so I had to purchase a replacememt ignition assembly. This worked fine until I tried to use the larger tanks with the cuisinart hose connector. Constant low flame issues.Would not recommend this grill.

Plastic sides are not good point, also it has big holes from sides and cooking in windy weather is terrible. Highly not recommended
disappointed. rusting components after 6 months of use
June 7, 2014
The function and appearance of this grill seems fine to me. It lights consistently, heats up nicely, is designed well enough and was easy to assemble. Unfortunately the heat shield and cooking grate have already started to rust after only 6 months of use. I bought the stand and fitted cover with the grill. I added some small wheels to the base so I could move it out from under a covered porch when we use it and cover it after it cools off. Others had said they had no luck with customer service, but I'll try to call or email. Very disappointed to see the rusting parts after only 6 months of light use especially since we cover it and primarily keep it under a roof. We use it an average of once or twice a week.

User Overview
  • Problem with sizes

According to your review, the Cuisinart is 366 inches by 720 inches. That's not even going to fit in my driveway, much less my kitchen.
