Five Star Reviews: | 56% Good product - does the job May 4, 2017 Living in Texas, we can't use our patio heater for a good part of the year. Rather than leaving it out and getting dusty and risk rsting with the humidity and rain we have, we cover it with this item.It is good quality thick and has a liner to protect the finish of the heater. It fits our heater perfectly and we juts store it out of the way in a corner of the patio until winter. Fits great and looks durable October 26, 2016 This cover fits just the way we expected it would, seems durable. We'll have to see how it holds up over the winter but it's in a covered gazebo so I'm anticipating it will be just great. and it works great now! You do have to put it together ... March 13, 2015 Put this outside next to my hot tub. It kicks out some serious heat! Makes a huge difference! I actually had a defective one initially but amazon replaced it in about two days, and it works great now! You do have to put it together which isn't too bad if you are even the slightest mechanically incline. The only problem which putting it together is that the little wrench they give you to turn the screws is basically garbage. It widens and quits working after about ten bolts. It you have a 10mm or a adjustable wrench you'll be good though. I actually used pliers because I was too lazy to walk down to the basement. So far this is a great addition to my patio! This cover fits my heater very nicely. Like everyone else says it is a bit ... November 25, 2014 This cover fits my heater very nicely. Like everyone else says it is a bit of a pain putting on and off but I would rather that than to loose flopping in the wind. My heater has 5 feet on the bottom so tipping has not been an issue for me. Couple inches longer would cover everything perfectly. Still a good product. Works Great February 8, 2013 Cover is just as described. Works great! And it is attractive. Protects heater (which is what it is meant to do!) very well. Soft inner lining protects metal heater and thick protective outer layer keeps the elements out.Read other reviews where there are complaints about it being hard to reach that high to put it on and that with the cover on, the wind now blows the heater over (duh!). One should know what the height of their heater is before buying a cover. The cover is not the responsible for the height of the heater. Furthermore, if the cover allowed the wind to pass through it, it would not do as great a job protecting the heater, now would it? This is a good product regardless of the naysayers. | 74% Great product January 3, 2017 We have used this heater about 8 times and are very happy with it s far. It's on our screen porch and definitely heats up the area. We ordered the mocha color and it's attractive. Enduring Alaska winds and snow! September 1, 2016 so far so good. it has endured the winds here in AK. I would highly recommend it. Oh and after a winter of ice and snow...still looks great! No rust or wear! Great item and gives off good heat. I really think I need a high and low! Five Stars December 11, 2015 Love these heaters... Bought them for the deck at the restaurant "wagon Box Inn" in Story Wyoming Great product!! Nice to have a personal relationship with a company December 1, 2015 Although brand new, I'm sure the heater will work well from my trial testing. Writing to compliment Mr. Patio for their personal and efficient service. After the order arrived 2 days after ordering we had a billing error from Amazon that needed to be worked out and they were very patient and friendly. Nice to have a personal relationship with a company. I was a little daunted by the reader comments about assembly and was extremely happy with L & P Development which was listed as an option with my order to assemble the unit. They were very professional with calling to update when the serviceman would arrive, and he was excellent and friendly. I would probably have spent several frustrating hours assembling. Great item with quality service November 16, 2015 Great item with quality service. Assembly is much faster with a socket wrench but other than that, instructions are clear and it's a nice product. |
Four Star Reviews: | 20% Missing rod, but otherwise pretty nice cover. September 17, 2017 I expected a simple tarp cut to a specific shape to fit the heater, but instead it's got a soft, felt-lined interior, and the zipper even has a string on it so short people can reach to zip it more easily. Fits fine around the reflector, but naturally it's quite loos around the middle since it's essentially cylindrical. If it had some ties attached somewhere to gather up the extra girth, it'd probably be better, but I'll just use some bungees I already have. Other reviews complained about it turning into a sail with a breeze, but mine will probably hang out under the covered patio most of the time, so not likely to be a problem. Straps for the bottom would probably also be a good addition to the design.Mine was missing whatever 3 piece metal rod was mentioned in the instruction sheet and by other reviewers, which might help with the flapping since it's supposed to go along the zipper. Nice for price May 14, 2017 A bit difficult to get on but does the job. Wouldn't suggest one person trying to cover OK quality and will do the job for now. March 14, 2017 They seem like they'll work great. They look OK too, not like junk. Aren't made of a thick material but if you are careful when you handle them they'll be fine. These kind of heaters tip over easily with the cover on not so we bungie the heaters to the fence when not in use.I have to get onto a latter to put them on and take them off but it's not a problem. They seem like they'll be durable and keep the rain off and the sun from fading them. We just bought them so I don't know yet how long they will last.Hopefully for a couple summers, if not I'll update this review. Hearty BUT...... January 24, 2014 .VERY VERY difficult to get this cover over the top HEAT shield, it can catch the top wing nuts and if you force it (as i did from frustration) can bend the heat shield. I have now taken this off and on at least 6 times...using a tall chair, a step..and two people...still can't figure out why its so tough. Maybe its me..which is a possibility since I am probably 6 drinks deep when trying to put it back on..but wouldn't you think the manufacturer would think of that when trying to market this..I mean who uses an outdoor heater in the winter sober? The zipper is convenient and the material seems water proof and strong. But it is very frustrating putting it back on. Excellent ! Kitchen Ladder Needed When Putting It On or Removing It. December 3, 2012 Putting the cover on required me to use a kitchen step ladder. It went on easily otherwise. I had absolutely no problems putting it on alone. Although some have said it is a "two person job", I didn't need a second person to help - just the kitchen ladder. An earlier review mentioned that the cover acts like a sail in high winds, turning the patio heater over. So I have used small bungee cords to loosely wrap the cover around the patio heater to eliminate that possible effect. It has since stood up to brisk wind with no problems. The loose excessive fabric was also a major visual obstacle. The bungee cords solved that. The cover seems to be very high quality. I have had no problems with it. | 7% Looks good and works well. Not bad for the price. January 5, 2017 Just put this thing together yesterday. Its not quite as sturdy as I was expecting nor does it turn up as high as I thought. But its more than adequate; maybe my expectations were too high going in. Either way it looks good, works well, and I'd probably buy it again. |
Three Star Reviews: | 9% We found this hard to put on, and 2 ... June 18, 2017 We found this hard to put on, and 2 hours after having it one a wind gust got under the cover and pulled our heater down. It bent the dome so we've stopped using it. We found when we put it on that it was difficult to get a tight seal with the drawstrings. I'd still recommend at 3 stars June 2, 2015 I like it and dis-like it for the same reason... it's heavy. So it offers great protection but a bit of a hassle manhandling off-and-on Too snug to be practical December 7, 2014 I recently purchased the Fire Sense Patio Heater Cover to protect my bronze heater from the elements when not in use. Assembly is quick and only requires that the customer screw a few pieces of metal and slide them into a slot near the cover's zipper. The cover is a tight fit... too tight. In particular, the area near the top of the cover comes in too drastically, making the effort of trying to slide it on feel like it was going to bend the top of my heater in the process. This, coupled with the fact that heater is 7 feet tall, resulted in my retiring the cover for any sort of regular use. My hope is Fire Sense will revise the cover to not be a snug in a future iteration. Until then, my heater will brave the elements. Where are the INSTRUCTIONS? It IS rocket science and It is complicated! January 14, 2014 I guess my first impression was good as far as quality and heavy duty material being used. But how to cover the heater? It is NOT a one person job. You need a tall step ladder to get high enough (about 7 feet). Then you must somehow throw the entire cover over the large reflector (about 32") in order to get it to droop down to thefloor. Of course you must be careful not to bend the reflector while you attempt to align the cover with the reflector. The reflector works great, but it cannot take any uneven weight or else it will bend. It would be helpful if one of your arms extendedabout 4 feet because then you could simply reach over to the center of the reflector and drop the cover in place. Now remember, you are on a step ladder while doing all this, so your balance is critical so that you don't go crashing into the heater. And what is the point of the long metal rod that is inserted into a sleeve next to the zipper? My solution (and it's quite silly, I suppose), is to take off the reflector and then fling the cover over the top while standing on the ladder.I hope somebody will read this review and respond with perfectly sane and logical instructions. I feel like a dummy because I cannot figure it out! Hey, I'm a professional furniture and cabinet maker. It's embarrassing..... Does not fit 38 inch dome November 10, 2013 Seems like a good cover but make sure your patio heater has a dome that is less than 36 inches. Although the description says its 38 inches in diameter, the cover will not fit a 38 inch dome. I found out the hard way...VERY tight fit, as it's going to be difficult to put on and take off since it's too small for my patio heater. It'll do for now until I find a bigger one. Poor quality July 1, 2013 While the thickness of the cover appears to be okay to protect the heater, the cover arrived damaged. It appears that it was never fully sewn, resulting in a rather large hole on the horizontal seam. For approx. $24 (tax included), it's always a decision whether it is worth the hassle to return something. We can probably sew it ourselves or use black tape to conceal the hole and keep moisture from getting inside the cover. It is just disappointing when quality control fails, and it seems to be happening more and more with consumer goods.I read previous reviews regarding the cover turning into a "sail" when the wind blows. I have seen this as well. We have opted to move the covered heater to the side of the house that is protected from the wind when we are not using it. Again, a bit of an inconvenience. I have also considered wrapping a bungee cord around it to prevent it from filling with air. | 4% It puts out a good amount of heat January 20, 2016 It puts out a good amount of heat. The construction is a little flimsy and the product had a few minor dings from shipping. The dings did not bother me enough to ship it back. I wouldn't classify this as a "commercial" unit and have seen better units for half the price. Time will tell. If the internal components last ten the extra cost would be worth it. |
Two Star Reviews: | 6% Fits perfect but i wish they had something to tie in ... July 22, 2017 Fits perfect but i wish they had something to tie in the middle trunk area so that it doesnt increase the drag of air on windy days and trip the heater over like ours did. Doesn't seem to be very sturdy. January 7, 2016 Got this case to cover my newly purchased heat lamp that is now installed on the patio. It does a great job covering it fully, top to bottom and the zipper has a pull line which allow for easier opening/closing. I went out two days after putting this on and found that one of the seams at the top was already coming apart and I could see the insulation from the inside of the cover. Granted that it was a bit windy, but if this is what it's like after two days, I'm not sure it'll survive the entire winter season. No vent causes the cover to balloon up and act like a kite in light wind November 17, 2015 This cover did fit my new patio heater quite well however within 2 weeks it failed. After covering and uncovering my heater 3 times, the zipper failed. Another problem with this cover is that it is not vented at all. This causes the cover to balloon up and act like a kite in light wind. On a windy day with gusts to 20 mph, the ballooning caused the tie down to rip off the cover and made the heater almost tip over as it acted like a drag chute. Also without the vent, a lot of condensation forms under the cover. I would take a pass on this one and find one with a vent. I missed my return window by a week so $35 off to the landfill. Remove this in a wind storm. February 20, 2014 I guess the quality is okay at first. But any strong wind will turn this into a sail and yank the heater right out of the ground and on to it's side. It will also tear the zipper. I'd advise not buying a cover in the first place. I've thrown mine away now because it's pretty windy where I live and after having to re-attach the heater to the concrete several times, I'd rather just let the heater sit out in the elements. And I can now attest to the fact that with the cover removed, the heater stays planted in the ground and doesn't move. Strong winds go right around the unit. Meant for really tall people December 19, 2013 This cover is too hard to get off the heater...there are screws on the top and the cover gets caught...I am about 5'5 and I did use a step stool and it still took me about 15 minutes to get the cover off. ( I did put the heater together by myself in about an 1 hr)...and getting the cover on and off is harder...I cut a tarp and bungee cord it...easy and one to three off. The cover is nicely made and I have kept it for summer storage, but, to use in the winter and take it off once a week or so...NO WAY... | 4% Paint peels after less than a year June 17, 2016 Purchased about one year ago, and also purchased cover at the same time which we use when heater is not in use. After a year in our temperate Northern CA house the paint on the top of the cover is peeling like crazy. Very shoddy workmanship. |
One Star Reviews: | 9% Not Worth It October 31, 2017 I manage a bar and bought this for our patio heaters. The cover is so big and difficult to put on with very few instructions. Even our tallest guys on chairs had a hard time putting them on. Was way easier to just take in the heaters at the end of the night than wasting all the time to cover them. Great cover if you want a windsail January 30, 2017 Great cover if you want a windsail. First halfway decent wind we had this thing took a $300 heater to the ground, destroying it. I should have tied it down or cinched it somehow, but why wouldn't the manufacturer build straps or ties into it? They must know this is an issue. Big regrets in buying this thing. If you're going to buy it, strap it tight or you will regret it. Horrible cheap product. December 12, 2016 bought 2. 1 arrived torn, (Great customer service with a quick replacement!) second one tore as we put it on the heater. Would never buy these again - such a hassle. Make Sure To Take Heat Reflector Measurements February 4, 2015 Be careful to measure the top heat reflector as the cover gets very tight up top and will not fit if your heater has a wide measurement...that isn't spelled out to well in the product description...going by the picture on the item number misleads you to believe that the top of the cover is much more roomer than it actually is The tore VERY easily January 14, 2014 I purchased two heater covers. I put them on my heaters and on of them tore the exterior of the cover (the black part, not the cotton looking inside material.) Thankfully they haven't yet tore all the way through both layers, but I'm not sure how well they will full protect my heaters against the elements now considering water can soak in. Now that I have them, they are better than nothing, but I wouldn't order them again. | 11% RUST Don't buy!!! May 14, 2016 Rusting after 2 weeks. We assembled and put it on a patio for the last two weeks. We live in Southern California and it rained one day!!! I can't turn it on because of Rust on the knob. Don't bother November 27, 2015 Doesn't kick out much heat at all, but much worse is that with the slightest breeze - it tips over. Ours was smashed and ruined almost immediately. And yes, we weighted it. Doesn't last October 24, 2015 Bought this in late January 2015. We live in San Diego which has cool nights much of the year. It worked fine through early spring, then we let it sit for the summer. Went to fire it up this fall and the igniter plunger was frozen. Was able to get it loosened up by tapping gently with a hammer and some piers. Unfortunately, the tapping caused pieces of the apparently brittle screen to fall to the ground, leaving three or so 1" holes in it. Going to contact customer support and I'll let you know how that goes, but at this point I'm definitely sorry I bought it.UPDATE: Note that this review is for the "Fire Sense 46,000 BTU *XL-Series* Mocha All Weather Wicker Commercial Grade Propane Patio Heater w/Wheels". Apparently many of the reviews are grouped by either vendor or manufacturer, as I found my review under another Golden Flame heater that I did not purchase. Regarding the return, I couldn't find the return information for the vendor in their profile so Amazon made an exception and allowed me to return it to them at their cost. WoW. Amazon Prime is awesome, but the heater is still not a good choice. Looking for a pyramid one instead -- on Amazon for sure. |
