Nothing fancy, but perfect
February 1, 2015
This sound bar is for a very select group. That group would be anyone who doesn't like their current TV's speakers, and just wish the speakers were a little louder and clearer. If that is you, I recommend this highly. Most TVs seem to have the speakers behind the TV, resulting in muffled sound. This makes all of the sounds so much clearer. In addition, the volume is much more consistent. You're not having to turn up the TV to hear what people or saying, only to wake your neighbors when any music or explosions start happening. Now, if you're the group that wants thunderous sound, then you're better off continuing your search for something else. There is nothing dramatic about these. Nothing fancy. Just an upgrade for lousy TV speakers. It really should come standard with TVs, but since they don't, this is an excellent option.
A great investment.

This has been one of my best investments this year. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I wanted something better than my default TV speakers. This sound bar provides high quality sound that you can feel. If you've getting audio exclusively from your TV speakers, like I had been, this will greatly enhance your enjoyment of any show or movie that you watch. Also, the Bluetooth feature is extremely useful. Every morning I play music from my phone via Bluetooth as I get ready for the day. The convenience is unparalleled. This is something I will use every day for the foreseeable future, so for the price it's a great deal.
***UPDATE: A note on resetting soundbar if issues occur*** Great sound for a reasonable price!
September 1, 2014
***UPDATE*** If for any reason you have any issues with your soundbar, a factory reset may help. Simply press and hold the Bluetooth and volume down (-) button for 5 seconds with the soundbar still plugged to power. This will erase all of your settings if you do, but it may resolve any of the issues you have with your soundbar. I had an issue with low sound, not being able to switch to different inputs, and not being able to power off my soundbar, and even VIZIO Support couldn't help me solve this problem stating that I may have to send the soundbar for repair (not in warranty anymore). After looking to the Quick Start guide, I found the combination of buttons and tried them as a last resort. Voila! My soundbar was back with all of its functions--albeit my settings.Original Review: I knew when I bought my Sharp 32" 1080p TV that the sound would be lackluster at best. I didn't need surround quality sound for my bedroom, and I looked for a sound bar at a reasonable price that would enhance my viewing and listening experience. I shopped around Amazon and found this VIZIO S2920W-C0 sound bar. Looking at the reviews, I decided to purchase it. I'm glad I did... quality sound--great highs and good lows make this sound bar the perfect compliment to my TV.It comes with the optical cable and a few others for a complete setup. Setup is straightforward and simple. Using the manual, you have three options to setup the sound bar. The sound bar can be controlled by the remote or the bar itself. If you have cable, you can also control the bar with the universal remote which is a plus. The treble and bass can be adjusted by the sound bar, giving the user control over the sound the bar produces.Another good thing about this sound bar is its Bluetooth capabilities. If you have a phone or a mp3 player capable of Bluetooth transmission, the sound bar can also be connected and use for music. I probably won't use it for that, but it's good to know that it's capable of that.Overall, I'm glad I made this purchase. This sound bar pushes out more quality sound than the TV, which is exactly what I wanted. I would definitely recommend this to someone who doesn't want a surround sound system for their TV but wants a significantly better sound output than a flat screen TV's internal speakers.
Better than expected.

I had no illusions about Sound Bars. They had always sounded tinny to me with absolutely no bass. After reading the reviews on this particular product and being surprised at the low price, I decided to take a chance. I was not disappointed. My living room is 15'x30' and the volume is more than enough for this space. Bass is better than I had hoped and actually has quite a thump. The product really shines when playing movie soundtracks. Dialogue stays upfront and the music really swells. I use it with a 40" Panasonic. It is the best 2 channel Sound Bar I ever heard. I would recommend this product to anyone other than audiophiles. It turns itself off after 15 minutes of non-use which is a great feature since the "on" light is dim so as not to cause a distraction to the viewer. It's easy to overlook when leaving the house or heading off to bed. There are no cons about this product, so far. Ordering and shipping from Amazon was fast and easy.
love it
January 26, 2014
I was really surprised at the sound quality. Its really good. I was somewhat leary, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. I really wanted a soundbar with a subwoofer but was limited by the size of my entertainment center. The longest i could have was a 30 inch to fit in the space designed for it. This is an older entertainment center..takes up the whole wall ceiling to floor. Anyway this was the only soundbar i could find. I love it! Great sound for the size. At first, i couldnt tell any difference between the tv speakers and the soundbar and thought i made a bad purchase. Then I realized i needed to turn down the tvf volume all the way down ( duh !! ) and just let the suondbar play. Also the surround sound was not turned on so I turned it on and that was a big difference ! Also adjusted the treble and bass and its perfect ! I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a small or inexpensive soundbar. I also saw this at Walmart.com for much cheaper but they were out of stock online and I didnt want to wait to see if they were going to get more.
Great sound and install for the price - looking for bargain soundbar - this is the one!

Great soundbar for the price. I setup a budget 32-inch 1080p Samsung smart TV in my little workout area, and wanted something with "wider" sound and a little more bass. This did it. I'm a musician and recording engineer, audio/video pro, and picky, so I can say it doesn't suck. It doesn't sound as good as having an additional sub-woofer on the floor, but this does sound much better. Used football game to set it up today and filled the dining room where I have my treadmill and elliptical (and no dining table). Easy to setup, includes bracket to attach to wall (this is light enough, I just used four long nails put in at downward angle, no special drilling needed!), includes optical cable long enough to reach either side of small TV (e.g., if connector on left of TV, vs right of the bar -- optical is on right side when mounted on wall). TV doesn't control the speaker, but speaker has audio controls on left side back, easily reached, and I just turned the audio down a few taps to be just right. Nice. Didn't use the remote, but it's there in case you need to use one. If you are doing a major living room setup, you'd probably get a matched speaker (e.g., Samsung sound bar which has a "control" input to let TV control volume). Still, if you were watching this and needed to mute you could just turn off TV to talk on phone. Have not tried any of the Bluetooth or similar as not my intended purpose. For use with a 32-inch in 10x10 room, works great, and better than the TV speakers on cheap flat panel. Includes audio cables. Power cable is long enough to reach floor, unlike some. Great deal for the price!

This speaker is AMAZING for the price! Pretty high quality! No problems w the packaging! Works perfect! It has great sound for movies! I would suggest a couple additional speakers for the background! For a small apartment it's perfect!
Great sound

This was a great purchase. It looks classy and sounds wonderful. Great seller. For some reason, my tv doesn't like things plugged in via the audio cables so I ordered an optical cable. Worked like a charm.

Bought this for my boyfriend's birthday in August, and I wanted to wait a while to see if the quality lasted. So far it has. The sound is great, and it's not too bulky. Really love the bluetooth feature! Sounds awesome with movies, and the boyfriend loves it for his xbox games.
Worth every penny

I wasn't getting the volume out of my TV so I picked this up to see if it made a difference. So far my wife loves it and the clarity of sound is so much better, especially during movies. Highly recommended.

its cheap and sounds decent- add an external sub and your golden.
October 28, 2015
For the money this is great. We use it in our bedroom, its easy to use and hookup. Comes with all installation hardware you'll need. The best feature is you can hook up a external powered subwoofer. I added a 12" sub with this and it made a huge difference. The sound bar plays louder and has less distortion with the added sub.If your thinking- "no thats not true". Well actually it is. Subsonic and lower HZ frequencies require substantially more power to reproduce. Additionally this sound bar has a crossover set to I think 50hz or so. Fine for most music played at quiet volumes but, not ideal for movie sound tracks as most these days go down and sometimes below 20hhz. In any event the additional drain on the very tiny amp inside this sound bar get less request for low frequencies and the amp is then allowed to allocate more power to the upper register of frequencies resulting in a high impedance, lower distortion and better sound. Along with the addition of the sound bar not needing to play subsonic sounds from its tiny speakers and let the subwoofer do the heavy lifting. Will this sound bar replace an AV and surround sound (unless its a junk out of the box system, just get this instead)? No. Does it sound better than a bose sound link mini? ahh its almost as good regarding sq and output. Is it one of the best sound bars for the money? I think soHow loud does it play? Loud enough for watching tv 12' away at reasonable volumes and listening to music.
Excellent Sound - Bluetooth Can Be Iffy
February 13, 2015
I have paired this with a 32" Samsung HDTV via the digital optical connection and it works great. This is our secondary TV, which I keep in my office, and I am surprised at how nice the sound is with the soundbar - really nice tonal range, great bass response. Obviously, a soundbar costing twice as much would probably sound a bit better (depending on the bar), but for the size of this thing, it's awesome. Sounds great for music or TV/Movies.I have it wall-mounted with the TV (using the Sewell Direct Universal Soundbar Brackets - also on Amazon), and everything seems very sturdy, fits nicely. I actually have it mounted above the TV. If you have a 32" flat screen TV and you're wall mounting it, you may want to check out the back of the TV for weird humps. I've noticed that some of them, Samsungs in particular, will sometimes have an extended section at the base of the back of the TV, which would make it very difficult (or impossible) to mount a soundbar beneath it, if you were using brackets. In my case, I wanted the soundbar above the TV anyway, but it's definitely worth knowing ahead of time. The one problem I've had with the soundbar is that with bluetooth audio, I sometimes notice a little bit of static. This doesn't always happen, and I'm honestly not sure if it's the soundbar or my phone, but it can be a little annoying.Helpful note: The default optical cable input is the 4th input (as far as the flashing lights on the front of the soundbar are concerned). If you plug in your optical connection, then switch to bluetooth, then go back to watching TV, this might confuse you. It confused me, because you'd think the first set of input lights on the soundbar would match the primary method of plugging it in. At first, I thought the soundbar was broken, but then I checked the manual and discovered I just had to switch it to the 4th input. Also, don't bend your optical cables. They're not like normal cords where you can twist them around - if you bend too hard, they will break.Overall, this soundbar has been great and I would buy it again for sure.
Good soundbar, but some lessons learned with it.
January 19, 2015
Bought this soundbar as a way to upgrade sound on my HDTV. After some tweaking, it works as advertised. Overall for the price, I think it's worth it. Is it audiophile quality sound? No...but it's good, and it enhances everything. I also purchased it because it had a subwoofer out. After some use in our medium to large room, I realized I really didn't need it because my sub would just overwhelm it, and the unit actually puts out quite a bit of bass. The bass is somewhat tuneful, but not tight by the way. Also, I have a built in made of wood, so that does amplify the sound since the soundbar is above the TV and in the shelf area.I would recommend a few things for people who get this soundbar to maximize your experience. First off, READ THE MANUAL. It will help you understand the features of the soundbar before you attempt to play it. Next, let it "break in". Don't play the sound too high to start, I just set it up with "TruVol" off, and let it run at moderate volumes for say, 12-24 hours. Then it will loosen up, sound better, and you won't run the risk of blowing out a speaker. Next, disable the "Energy Saving" mode. It sucks, and it actually causes the unit to increase/decrease volume as well as causes a delay in sound once you activate it or turn your TV on. Next, use the Optical (TOSLink) or PCM (Digital RCA) inputs to get the best sound. Next, understand what TruVol and TruSurround do. TruVol mode actually nearly doubles the sound. This is definitely the mode you want to use this soundbar in after your break in period. TruSurround is kind of a gimmick, as most of those types of processing really are with a single speaker array. I'd just skip it and enjoy the 2-channel.If you are going to use a subwoofer, tune it, and adjust your gain and volume settings to blend in with the soundbar. The manual recommends turning bass to the "0" point, but that's subjective. My sub is so powerful that even barely turning it on overwhelmed the soundbar. I gave up and just set the Bass setting on the soundbar to the lowest it could go and tuned my sub from there. Finally - some people have asked if they can control the sound from the TV. If your TV has a variable audio out, then yes you can. Just use RCA cables (good ones) to connect it and leave it on and in "non Energy Star" mode.Overall, I like it, it does add a lot of extra sound and good vocal clarity to the TV audio and movies. The bass performance is acceptable, but if you like your bass I would get a powered sub. If you are just using it for average TV watching, it should do though. And the small footprint is really nice!
Better than without.

For many this will be an upgrade to their TVs speakers but if they're already pretty good you might not notice a difference. I have a Vizio M 55" and the sound is ever so slightly improved. Although I'm not dissatisfied I do wish I spent a bit more and went with a system that included a sub-woofer..
Great product! Decent sound
December 3, 2014
Great product! Decent sound . Had it out of the box and sinc to my iPad/ iPhone blue tooth in less than10 min. Took a bit of tweaking to balance the bass- treble. Controls are on the side and back and bit difficult to see and manipulate due to their small size. The remote helped. A row of tiny lights on the left front indicates the input ie. 1-2 is rca 1, lights 6,7,8 is Bluetooth and so on so keep the manual handy. It does make a nice back ground speaker with good sound and volume.
Surprisingly energy-efficient
June 27, 2014
I plugged the soundbar into my Belkin Conserve Insight and was very pleased to find how energy-efficient this soundbar is. It uses half a watt while off and not much more idle. At half-volume, it only uses 2.5 watts! Kudos to Vizio for making a good product that's also conscientious about its energy use.

sound bar
March 25, 2014
We are enjoying the soundbar, it makes all the difference in the world. The volume on our 55 in TV is not good and used to have to turn it all the way up with some movies and programs. This has definitely made it much better. The only thing i would change is the remote isn't very sensitive and you have to try 2 or 3 times sometimes to get it to work. Also I wish it had came adaptable to HDMI cable so that we could be even better resolution of sound. I bought one thinking i could use and the bar is not set up to allow it.
Sounds Good
January 12, 2014
I got this for my husband for his birthday. I was looking for something affordable with great quality and price was right on this product. We have a Bose & I love it but my husband likes this one. The ONLY thing that annoys him is the remote control is super small. He wishes the remote was bigger. I honesty think this sound bar is pretty good. He loves syncing his music from his cell phone & listening to his music on this system. He was Happy. I would have given it a 5 star but the tiny remote lost 1 star.

Pretty decent soundbar when you can overlook its flaws
November 23, 2015
Got this because I got annoyed listening to my TV speaker that makes this high pitch sound with a lot of treble. Also because I'm looking for a speaker that comes with a remote control. I'm very satisfied with the quality of the sound this soundbar offers, which is much softer and produces sound that I can't hear as clearly with my TV speaker. The bass is soft but just right, without the intrusive thumping effects offered by a dedicated subwoofer. But this is just what i needed as I'm living in an apartment. For people who wants an enjoyful home theater system experience in a limited space setting this soundbar fits the bill perfectly. The bluetooth connection is a plus, but sometimes might drop intermittently even when my connected device is right next to the speaker. This could be due to my other electrical appliances (e.g. portable air conditioner) that interfered with the signal. But this only happen occasionally, in which case I would just connect my device using cable connections (the device has two AUX connections and two optical connections) just to save myself some frustration. Also, a BIG RECOMMENDATION would be to turn off the two sound enhancement features of the soundbar, which are the TVOL and TSHD on the remote control. These two features would make the volume of your media fluctuates (which was supposed to lower TV commericals volume that is really loud/ and to create virtual surround voice) especially in a movie setting where there are moment of silences, in which case you might hear people in the movie whispering when they are actually talking in normal volume!! This is very very annoying and will ruin just about anyone's viewing experience. However, turning off these two features will make your speaker producing very faint sound, which is very frustrating. If you jacked up the volume very high without the two sound enhancement features just so you can hear the speaker, you might run into the trouble of accidentally turning it back on and make even much louder volume (2 to 3 times as loud) that can shatter your window glasses (not too much as an exaggeration). To counteract this, I have to take apart the soundbar remote control and take off the two sound enhancement features button off (cutting off the buttons with scissor). Took me a year to diagnose this! To my knowledge, the issues caused by these sound enhancement features are normal in these types of sound bar regardless of the brand, so it's not specific to this brand. One last thing: one of my AUX connection (the 3.5mm audio jack) stopped working properly after a year or so. But I have decided to live with it.Overall, this is a pretty decent soundbar. With the price tag of 71 bucks (with 5 bucks off as AMAZON Prime member) it does an ok job. Perhaps the newer model would do a better job.
If you want real Surround Sound stay with 8 speakers around the room.
March 15, 2015
It's not a Bose and the sound isn't as surround as I thought might be, but better than the TV speakers. I found the remote buttons to close together and finding myself pushing Input or Bluetooth often and you really have to find the sweet spots on the volume. If they had separated it away from the critical buttons and just up or down it would have been better. Either too small or big hands.
It works fine, but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.
January 19, 2015
It works well, although I had to try several cords to find one that would actually output to the speaker. In my case, the included optical cable was the only one that worked. Also, the wall mounts work well, however, they don't provide the screws to actually hang the mounts on the wall. Given a choice I'd prefer to be sent all the necessary screws and no batteries, but this comes with batteries and no wall screws. My final gripe with this is that there seems to be a time-out period where the unit turns off if no signal is transmitting (such as if your TV is on mute or pause), but you can't change the setting as far as I can tell. It would be great if it only timed out if the TV were turned off, and not just idle, or if I could change settings on screen, including the sound quality. Since I only use this for working out in my gym, I'm fine with all these little inconveniences, but I wouldn't purchase this for watching movies.
Some current tvs may not have audio out ports to connect to a sound bar - check your tv first!
January 14, 2015
I ordered this item thinking it would work with my recent Samsung tvs. Like, why wouldn't all current tvs work with a current sound bar? Bad assumption. My Samsungs are LED models UN32EH4003, UN19F4000F, UN28H4000F, decoded meaning a 32", 19" AND 28". I bought the sound bar for the 32". I struggled long and hard trying to get the sound bar to work. I tried as many of the supplied cords as possible and nothing. Disappointed. The only supplied cords that would fit were the analog red/white ones - still nothing. But then I looked at the back of my 19" and 28" and found an headphone port, and got the sound bar to work off those Then I found the optical port on the back of my 28" and that worked (better than the headphone port). But for whatever reason, the 32" has neither the headphone nor the optical port. Contacting Samsung Live Chat, it turns out that the 32" tv has no audio out port! What? Being a novice in all of this, those rca red/white ports are audio in and would never work. In using the optical cord on the 28" model, one needs to use the Samsung menu, find the audio portion to toggle off the "tv speakers" and select the exterior audio, and then everything works, including adjusting the volume through the Samsung remote.Pairing my iPad to this speaker was pretty easy and works fine. One has to pay attention the sound bar led lights per instructions.Sadly I have to return the Vizio sound bar, not because of anything bad, but because Samsung 32" LED tv lacks any kind of audio out. The Vizio sound bar looks great, and sounded great when playing music from my paired iPad. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was well, I can't use it with my tv of choice. Sigh.Bottom line: Don't assume your tv will have an audio out port. Ignore the analog red/white ports. Good to go if you have the optical port (confusing calling this "optical" when it is for audio!).
Issues with Samsung TV
November 29, 2014
I have an older Samsung TV. Apparently its TOSLINK audio output is Dolby Digital 5.1 while the VIZIO soundbar will onlyaccept PCM stereo input. The Vizio manual tells you to switch to PCM, but my older Samsung doesn't seem to give me that option in its sound settings. So - the workaround is to take the TOSLINK audio output from my Tivo/Roamio instead. The Tivo/Roamio does allow me to switch to PCM. So I did and that works. Another workaround might have been just to use the RCA audio plugs, but my Samsung TV has some issues with that as well. In fact, if you have an older Samsung TV, just Google "Samsung TV and Vizio Soundbar" before you purchase this product. You'll see I'm not the only one having trouble pairing these. I've got it working now and the sound is okay. Not spectacular. A little fuller than just with the TV speakers alone. The simulated "TruSurround HD" takes a stereo input and tries to trick you into thinking its got more bass and a wider stereo field. I could barely hear any difference at all. Overall you might like this if your TV has really bad sound. Otherwise save your money or get a better soundbar with HDMI output and one that can handle Dolby digital input. I only bought this one because it was the most compact at 29 inches and it was cheap. But you get what you pay for.
What A Normal TV Sounds Like
July 19, 2014
You clearly get what you pay for with this sound bar. It sounds like regular tv speakers sound, but being my LED high-end Vizio TV has the worst speakers known to man, this is a slight improvement. My Vizio M-Series TV had to have the bass turned all the way down or else it would sound like blown, muffled speakers. I even exchanged the set because I thought it was defective and the replacement sounded the same way. Now, I own a separate Vizio 2.1 soundbar with wireless subwoofer on another tv. Even without the subwoofer, the soundbar in this listing is nowhere near the quality of sound of my other soundbar. This bar puts out the bare essential sound so you can watch TV at a somewhat higher volume without the speakers sounding muffled. If you have a super slim TV that has abysmal speakers, this bar will output the sound equivalent to what normal TV speakers sound like. No more, no less. If you're looking for any sort of quality sound, then look elsewhere. Because you won't find it here. The best thing about this bar is how it automatically works with your TV's volume. You plug the bar into the digital sound OUTPUT port on the back of your TV. That way, anything that you already had connected to the TV will have its volume go out through the soundbar. You don't need to plug your devices into the sounbar itself. Leave everything the way it was.Once you do that, go into your TV's settings and go to the AUDIO section. In that section you should be able to turn the TV's internal speakers off. Also, you want to set the sound to be controlled EXTERNALLY. So the normal remote you used to change the volume will still work. The soundbar works off what the TV's volume would be. So as you raise or lower the volume on the TV, even though its speakers are disabled, the soundbar volume will simultaneously increase or decrease. Another good thing is that any cable you would need to connect the bar to your TV is included in the box.Anybody claiming that this soundbar has great sound must be tone deaf, or thinks TV speakers sound the same as surround sound. Like I said earlier, this bar is just enough to get the job done. If you want a decent sounding bar, get one with the wireless subwoofer. The Vizio soundbars priced $250 & up sound better than most other higher priced brands, like Samsung, Sony & LG. Remember, you get what you pay for.

We ordered this item because the reviews we read said it was fine for small rooms and we didn't want to spend a lot. We wanted it for the the living area of our 36' 5th wheel. We have the volume up all the way for most programs and even use add our TV volume at times. The sound is clear, though.
Not bad for the money, BUT....
December 2, 2014
The sound is very good. However, there is a clock on the front of the unit which runs fast (doesn't keep time). There are variable EQ presets on the unit which seem to do nothing. All in all it's a fair deal for the price but I wonder what other components might prove to be defective over time.
Bluetooth capability is great! The clock, not so much.
October 13, 2014
I purchased this sound bar solely for it's Bluetooth capability as I wanted to mount it over my headboard and stream audio from my computer while I slept. In that, its function is flawless. Sound quality is good, clarity is very good, and product durability looks and feels like it will provide years of functional use.The sole issue I have with this product is that it does not keep time. Since I set the initial time on this product about 3 weeks ago, it has lost almost 6 hours of time. Since I cannot see the clock while I am laying down and do not use it as an alarm clock, I could honestly care less, but I feel that you should be made aware of the issue should you choose to use it as such.If the clock actually kept time, I would rate this product higher.

This speaker has a ongoing tendency to change volume, over correct volume and generally provide an uneven listening experience. No matter what I try, my inputs, have an issue when the audio switches from speech to music, and commercials. I'm constantly adjusting the volume. Also it pairs slowly with bluetooth devices. I can not recommend this speaker not for the sound it produces but for the lack of volume control.
Don't bother unless it's for a TV in a small room

I'll just start off by saying this was a gift and it was given back to me... Here is our shared experience:Cons:1.Doesn't sync on bluetooth with an older Ipod touch, the same ipod syncs with other soundbar models (samsung).2. isn't loud in bigger spaces. (was a gift but not loud enough for listening to music in a garage.) Then it turns itself completely off if you turn it up too loud.3. so I hooked it up to my computer because it is too late to return it...and the volume does whatever it wants. (blasts with each song change despite repeatedly turning it down and turning off the TVOL feature)Pro (yes, singular): it gets 2 stars because the sound is better than my old computer speakers. I think that may be too generous considering it is probably going out the window the next time i'm trying to listen to music quietly while studying. It might be good with a TV but I already have bigger and better sound bars for those.
Annoying "feature." Wouldn't Recommend.
January 24, 2015
The device has a mode that lowers and raises the volume to help out when loud commercials come on TV. It has a button on the remote called TVOL that turns it off and on. I have this sound bar hooked up to both my television (to watch my AppleTV) and my computer and just switch between the inputs depending on what I'm doing. When watching something on the AppleTV it's fine(so far), but when I'm using this for my computer the sound bar will randomly lower or raise the volume by CONSIDERABLE amounts. It's incredibly annoying. I can't determine anything specific that sets it off either. It can be something in a game I'm playing or a song on Spotify even though I've been listening for hours. I've tried turning off the setting through the remote and it still happens all the time. I've looked up the manual for this specific model on VIZIO's website so I am positive I understand the setting and whether I'm turning it off or not. I'm trying to decide whether I want to return this device or just live with it since I don't have enough room on my computer desk for traditional speakers. I would not recommend this product simply for the way the sound changes drastically at seemingly random intervals.
Forget the money, this soundbar isn't worth the hassle...

Three stars knocked off the VIZIO S2920w-C0 29-inch 2.0 High Definition Sound Bar with Bluetooth because:1. Setup is not nearly as plug and play as the directions would lead you to believe. You'll likely need your TV's manual to assure you're hooking it up correctly. All the cables are included, which is super nice, but in our case it took a while (and our TV manual) to determine we could only use the 3.5mm cable because our TV wouldn't allow use of the optical sound output when using HDMI input. (I don't get it, but....If you just said, "Duh", then you'll find the setup easy... if you just said, "Huh?" then expect to pull some hair off your head during setup)2. The function to normalize the sound so you don't get knocked out of your seat by loud action sequences or annoying commercials sucks so bad. Really a letdown of a feature. It was really laggy so the sound jumped between loud, then soft, then loud again as it bounced around trying to adjust. Plus it really hindered the range of the volume control on the remote. From 1 to 100.... anything below 12 it wouldn't even produce sound. At 13 it jumped on, really louder than you'd want at that level. 14 to 30 was the useful range of adjustment. At anything above 30 there was no change in sound level at all.... Turned that feature off and the sound behaved as normal and as gradual as you'd expect.3. The remote interface on this product was an interference nightmare. Using our DVD remote to play a movie changes the setting on the soundbar. Using the Soundbar remote to reset the settings disconnects Bluetooth devices not even associated with the entertainment center. (without having touched the Bluetooth button on the Vizio remote) An hour long call to Vizio with a customer service rep who sounded like I woke him out of bed yielded, "Move the sound bar so it's not near any of the other objects"... because obviously who would want their new soundbar to reside in the entertainment center with the rest of the components? We'll just have the sound come from the closet where it's safe. Jokes regarding the stupidity of such a solution are still being made. We finally used the buttons on the soundbar itself to set it up then covered the IR sensor location. (center, oval hole, behind the speaker cloth if you're having the same problem)3. We have yet to get the Energy Star function to work... the soundbar shuts off, but does not automatically come back on as the manual says. We have to manually power the soundbar back up. Turned that function off, which I was not happy about. Haven't even tried the Bluetooth pairing function... all evidence so far suggest pressing that button might open a portal to hell...4. There's a funny sheen coming off the grill cloth, kind of reflective until it passes a hole behind the cloth, then matte in it's appearance. Makes the unit look dusty, very odd. After more work than necessary it seems to be functioning well enough now to use the soundbar. The fourth point may just be nitpicky on my part but the other three are inexcusable flaws for a product like this to have.*Edit* After weeks of making every attempt at getting this sound bar work properly in our entertainment center we gave up and returned it. VERY dissatisfying.
Really wanted to love it ...

after hooking the vizio soundbar to my tv coax port, I went thru the book and did the few adjustments needed, but there was a problem with the true sound. I called vizio and they couldn't give me an answer as to why I would get huge random volume fluctuations that were so loud that I know it had to wake my neighbors and then would go so low that it was impossible to hear at all. we went thru a reset and everything with no positive outcome. I certainly couldn't have true volume on and leave the room for anything, but what little I heard would have sounded fine (for a few seconds), if it didn't keep fluctuating so badly ... the loud was really blasting! also, I didn't notice that the other adjustments made any difference at all ... base, treble, and surround. I didn't bother to try Bluetooth. I called amazon tech and they didn't seem to have any answers either ... probably just a defective unit, so it's being return, and i will try a different brand.all in all, I would say that, if it worked like it should, I would probably like this sound bar. with electronics, it's certainly possible to get defective items in about anything. it's really an inconvenience, but thank god for amazon and the fact that they back their amazon.com and prime products so well (and are enormously helpful with all else that is sold on their site). amazon gets 10++ stars, but vizio only gets 2 for this one.
Disappointed
September 14, 2014
Didn't work out of the box, played around with it for 20 min and had to call VIZIO help. The bar was locked on demo mode and after 40 min on the phone with VISIO help service they advise me that the bar needs to be replaced. In short, returned this item for a refund instead purchased a Yamaha bar 101, which when received worked right out of the box within mins with no set up. After all the head

Basic with low output, save your money for a reputable brand.

Definitely would not purchase again. I bought it to be a speaker bar for my guest room TV (32" tv) the TV speakers are actually better quality and produce better sound than this sound bar, so I just use it to play music from my phone now. I get just about as good of sound from a shower speaker as I do this sound bar. I can not hear it when it is all the way up if I leave the room. Poor quality, but if you're looking for a basic speaker that won't be loud, then it's functional. Just bad quality and not worth $70. I should've went with a reputable brand instead of trying to save a few bucks.
Not Very Good.
July 27, 2017
There is not much sound coming out of this speaker. If I had it to do over, I would get something else. This sound bar is not very good.
Do Not Buy! Not much bettter than TV Speakers
May 7, 2017
The sound isn't that great. There is no evidence of internal subwolfer sound. I had a Visio sound bar that was better quality. When tv is turned off, and I turn it back on, the sound bar doesn't work even when I turn on power from the remote. I have to turn it on from sound bar. The remote is practically non responsive. I have to be practically in front of the sound bar for it to respond which defeats the purpose of having a remote. I've been thinking of returning it not because of the seller, but because I find the product to be of low quality all around. The speaker sound quality is not much better than the tv.speakers. I would not recommend these speakers.I give it 2.5 out of 5 starsUpdate: May 20, 2017I returned these speakers and Amazon was great with the refund process. That went smoothly. I do not recommend these speakers at all! The sound is not much better than the T V speakers. I have a samsung 32" for my bedroom. The internal subwolfer is a joke. No siynd from that at all. Spend the extra miney and buy the Samsung HW-J355 2.1 Channel 120 Watt Wired Audio Soundbar (2015 Model) at $124. It is well worth it and has the TV connect feature for tvs that are compatible. Don't waste your money oon this sound bar. It doesn't sound better than TV speakers at all. Had to turn the volume all the way up and still it just sounded a little louder, no richness or depth in the audio at all. As soon as I ordered the new Samsung speakers and hooked them up, the difference in quality of sound was immediate. These are some off brand speakers that just do not provide qyality sound. I wasnt5expecting theatre surround sound, but I was expecting better than tv speakers, this did not deliver. They didn't come with optical cables, the samsung speakers did. Amazon should vet merchandise better before selling it on their website. People do not have 80 bucks to spend on junk.
... because it would have digital clock display along with good sound. The clock did not work
March 8, 2015
Bought it because it would have digital clock display along with good sound. The clock did not work. Returned the item for refund.
somewhat disappointed
February 21, 2015
Clock doesn't keep time well. Needs more hookups for multiple inputs (DVD, Cable, etc). The sound is good though. It won't hookup to TV. Maybe my TV isn't able to sustain it. Not sure.
You get what you pay for
February 22, 2014
If your looking for bass,it's nonexistent difficult to mount, but it does have better sound than my LCD TV's speakers. Spend the extra money and buy one with a subwoofer.

Just awful design with flaws the manufacturer is aware of
May 21, 2015
This is for the 29 Inch VersionGot this for a small TV - worked ok at the beginning. Was pointlessly complicated and oddly design user interface but those are the breaks.Over tim the sound would go up and down on its own. So I called Vizio customer service - they explained that it was electricity building up in the wiring (or something close to that) and to unplug the speaker and hold the power button down for 30 second to in effect bleed it out. That worked and then had to do it again. The point is they had and instant answer to that question - which to me is operating in bad faith selling something that required that kind of nonsense for operation.
Don't get too attached to it...only lasted a week.

After doing research and reading reviews I came to the conclusion that this product would be perfect for my needs. Being a 49-year-old college student living on limited funds, I thought, "Man, this would be perfect", so I broke down and bought it. It was great...for 9 whole days...and then nothing. I've unplugged it, re-plugged the cables into the same exact locations, and it still produces no sound. Kapoot. I am really disappointed...no, the more I type, the more pissed off I am. Instead of returning it (since I don't have the original packaging) I think I'm going to carry it outside and slam it against the sidewalk like a baseball bat trying to smash a bug. I will never buy another Vizio product ever again, and will definitely spread the word to all my friends and Amazon shoppers. Don't buy it.
be careful
February 11, 2015
I set this up the first day it arrived and LOVED it. The sound is awesome. I also have a larger one on a different TV that I love. This one, however, stopped working after 4 days of use. I have tried everything to figure out why it won't power up, but to no avail. Not sure if it is because it was refurbished or what. Boo!
I have a new Samsung smart t. v
January 31, 2015
Product came quickly, unfortunately it did not work. Three calls to Vizio and they were unable to solve to problem, so i returned the product. The problem i had was with the sound bar going dead when i changed what i was watching on the t.v. I have a new Samsung smart t.v, this was the only device i had tried to connect to the sound bar. Upon first connecting the sound bar it seemed fine I had netflix streaming through the t.v. but when i switched to broadcast t.v sound bar stopped working. Open netflix back up, nope no sound. Check Check optial cable connected fine, turn off sound bar back on nope. Change to Audio cable, nope. Crap, call vizio tech support ( long wait time). Tech has me do a reset on the sound bar, Press input and vol down light blink 3 times hey sound, great thanks for your help bye( That was my mistake). Once again switch from broadcast to streaming no sound for anything. Call back this tech has me try the reset again this time its a nogo, still sitting there making a sound like a carrot. Tech tells me his lvl 3 tech office is closed for the night and he cant think of anything else. Can I call back tomorrow? Umm wat lvl 3 tech office, well man were gonna get things done tomorrow! Call back next day, still long wait time. Run through all the things with this tech as with other two, get put on hold so he can consult with his coworkers, 5 min hold, 7, 10. Time to return. Hopefully this was just a bad unit idk, but thats my story.Amazon on the other hand is great. Need to return? sure no problem send er back at no cost. Will buy from Amazon again, this item properly not.
Not worth it
January 4, 2015
Unit arrived on time and was very easy to setup. All the cables where included for multiple hookups. But the unit was only marginally better than the audio from the Vizio 29" TV. And after about seven weeks, the unit failed. Volume control and source input appeared to work but no sound. Tested it on another TV and tried different input types with no luck. Since it is out of the 30 day return time with amazon and a call to Vizio support was unproductive. No response on where to send it for warranty repair I would not recommend buying this sound bar.
Did not work at all.
August 21, 2014
I usually have at least one positive thing to say about just about anything I order from Amazon. Despite all the reviews to the contrary, my experience with this sound bar was horrible. It did not work at all, despite trying to hook it up just about every way humanly possible. I bought this as a birthday gift for a friend, which made it that much more disappointing. I consider myself pretty savvy with electronics, but as far as I'm concerned, this is the first and last product from Vizio I'll ever purchase, having known several people who have had issues with their TVs.As always Amazon has been great about returns. Just waiting for my refund.

Not a low latency speaker
June 15, 2016
This was a waste of time. I ordered it and received it on time. I spent a half hour preparing it to work with the Bluetooth transmitter on the television. It was advertised as a "low latency Bluetooth wireless speaker." It is far from low latency. There must have been a second of lag between the TV picture and the sound. Completely useless as a Bluetooth TV wireless speaker. I had tried another speaker brand and found the latency to be about a half second lag, and that speaker did not even promise low latency. This one did and actually performed worse than the first. Save your time and money.
Soundbar no new and didn't work
January 31, 2016
It was clearly a previously sold item, badly packaged with no outside box, unit came complete with the dog hair and scratches. Plugged in unit and no surprise it didn't work. Sent back

the sound is not as good as I expected

This is not digital and required me to obtain an adapter and cable. Once working, the sound is not as good as I expected. Waste of money
Doesn't work with our Samsung LED
June 6, 2014
No sound. Followed directions, read manual over again, tried different settings - nothing. Works on small Sony in bedroom, but that's not where it was intended. I thought it may be the TV (New Samsung LED), but other speakers and components work fine.
Junk
October 4, 2013
If you have just a little jack cable and want it for one gadget it might be okay. But do not get this if you think you can hook up Bluetooth much less airplay. Will not work. Bluetooth drags and lags and is unacceptable on any level. I ripped the packaging and didn't think it was worth the work returning it. So I gave it to my son as a hand me down.
