Five Star Reviews: | 53% Great Fat Buster Gadget! September 18, 2016 All you have to do is lay this liner on a cookie sheet, place the food on top of the little silicone studs and Voila! Food cooks while all the fat drips into the little nooks made by the raised studs. You can actually see all the grease pooling under your food. It doesn't change the odor of the food and is specially good for breaded items like chicken and such because the coating crisps really well without absorbing the fat otherwise it would end up in your food. The only con is the cleaning part because the grease seems to want to stay in it. I did manage to clean it thoroughly with Dawn. I suggest that the seller should post tips for cleaning or send a little paper with cleaning tips in the order. It doesn't cost much but it will be very appreciated by the cook. Nice silicone mats for baking August 6, 2016 I grew weary of frying bacon and then "cleaning the kitchen" afterward.This elevates food off the "sheet pan/baking sheet" (which I cover with foil just to make cleanup easier)and it does a great job. I've noticed 2 things in the "negative comments" which I'll address:"They smell when they're in the oven". Hmmmm. First, did you wash them thoroughly and dry them? Not knowingwho handled them, precautionarily I washed them prior to use. I placed them on a foil lined baking sheet and put themin the oven, at 400* without anything on them, to see how they "smelled". They smelled like new silicon for the first time in the oven.Next, I baked a full pound of bacon at 400*. Took about 20 minutes, but I DID have to flip the bacon over, no big deal for me there."They're so difficult to clean". Again, Hmmmmmm. I rinsed mine off under running hot water, then put them in a dishpan half filled with soapy water to soak for about 30 minutes, then took a stiff bristled brush to them, and besides "a few spots remaining", they looked likethey had never been used. And I cooked some "brown sugar maple bacon" and again, the cleaning wasn't a "chore" like some havecomplained about.I'd like to try some packaged frozen fries on this, and once I do, I'll update it with my findings. Overall, I'd recommend it for "oven cooking ofnormally fried foods"........... Great product March 20, 2016 Very good and works well. People complain about it being hard to clean. I don't know what they are doing but i had no problem. Worse case if is a bit caked on, soak it in hot water and Oxy clean for a few minutes and everything fall right off. It's true: no sticking! January 21, 2016 I bought this to bake my pepperoni rolls on. I was tired of the rolls sitting in the oils that always ooze out (no matter how nicely I close the edges). Although the dough expanded and filled in around the pointy bottom, it was better than the rolls sitting on the bottom of a flat baking sheet.I actually wish the baking mat were less flexible. It was pretty wiggly trying to maneuver it. It's impossible without a baking sheet under it. My biggest baking sheets don't have little sides on them and I was afraid that the oils oozing out of the rolls would spill over the baking sheet so I had to get creative with aluminum foil.I'm still giving it five stars (none of the above issues I had were the mat's fault). I cut it to size and use it to make frozen french fries so I don't have to turn on the stove and heat up the house too much. January 15, 2017 I bought some amazing large aluminum baking sheets but found it difficult to find mats that would fit the entire pan. The pans are half the size of a commercial pan. I took a chance on these mats in hopes they would be the right size and they fit perfectly!!! The mats reach every corner leaving none of the pan exposed. I cook everything from veggies to cookies on the mats and never had anything stick. They clean up beautifully!!! With four pans and all the baking I do these mats have saved me tons of money in not having to purchase parchment paper that never fit. I will buy more should I ever get additional pans. Great nonstick cooking. Excellent for homemade pizzas too. July 30, 2016 Have had a chance to use these a few times this week and they work great. What I really like is that they automatically release things that would normally stick. I like to make little low carb pizzas out of healthy tortillas. Typically, when the cheese runs off the side a bit it gets crusty and sticks to the pan so I have to scrape the pizza free with a spatula. Now that I'm using the mat, it actually pops up off the edge a bit and helps form a better edge to the pizza. They're super easy to clean and haven't put off any smell or flavor that I can detect. I didn’t review them at that time because I wanted to use the mats twice in order to make a determination of how effective they were.These are fine silicone mats. I’ve only used them to bake French macarons. My macarons turned out well. I now prefer silicone mats to parchment paper. The mats are easy to wash and dry.Tip: If you want your mat[s] to be dry, roll each one between two towels. In less than a minute, you’ll have a dry mat. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for the mats to be clean and dry when baking macarons! I have seen some silicone baking mats others had and ... April 17, 2016 I have seen some silicone baking mats others had and was reluctant to buy some for my baking endeavors but took the time to read the customer reviews and chose one. The Silicone Baking Mats by Velesco were of surprising quality considering the price I paid. They are thick, soft, flexible and appear to be durable. Nothing about them feels or appears to be cheap. I also use these to put my par-boiled Manicotti shells on in preparing (stuffing) them for the oven to be baked. Nothing sticks to them. If you purchase these don't be so narrow-minded to think they are just for baking a bunch of rolls on, they seem to have many uses, in my opinion. Great baking mats very well made November 23, 2015 I used to work at subway as a teen and had always remember using something similar to these baking mats at work to bake the cookies and bread on they were fantastic . Being in my 30's with 4 kids and baking a lot for them I wanted to find and order some baking mats so I searched long and hard and debated between which baking mats to buy off of amazon . Finally I decided on these which looked very much like what I remember using in the past . I am so glad I selected these as my choice they are exactly what I was looking for and are very durable and well made . My cooked don't burn on the bottom and I don't have to spray a ton of cooking spray and saturate my food with all the extra oils and fat anymore . These are very easy to clean if any food at all left on them it just wipes right off with no scrubbing or any hassle . I'm very please with these baking mats thank you . Works as advertised November 5, 2015 These sheets work exactly as represented. They fit a half sheet baking pan, lying flat without curling. With a little fiddling they can also line a smaller pan like a roaster. I've used them under several kinds of foods, ranging from frozen fish sticks to beef roasts. In each case the mat was a heck of a lot easier to clean than the pan I lined with it would have been. They seem inert, with no detectable flavor change for the food cooked in contact with them. They also seem durable, with no change in appearance or texture after several uses. Given the bargain price, I recommend them highly. |

Good purchase October 18, 2016 When I first opened this, it had a strong chemical smell, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. I aired it out on my window sill and eventually it went away. As far as the function goes, it works great. I used this on a pan to make chicken and was pleasantly surprised to find how it browned on both sides. Clean up was so much easier too. Definitely worth purchasing. Works for me February 17, 2016 I have used my mat for frozen foods like breaded fish and fries, and it is nice to get rid of the oil the food would be sitting in. No problems with cleanup so far, no odor from the mat. This product came directly from China in a clear plastic bag with no directions or product information whatsoever. If you have concerns about material safety, buyer beware. Works well and grease drains off food November 30, 2015 I use it when I bake something greasy. It allows the grease to stay off the food. it also works fantastic with tator tots! Allows the heat in the oven to evenly bake them on all sides without stirring. this is great. chicken was crispy November 21, 2015 this is great. chicken was crispy, like pan frying. I had trouble cleaning it, so I put it in the dishwasher and it came out very clean. The first (and so far last) time I used this mat, I cooked chicken on it. The chicken turned out very well but this thing was really a pain to clean. It still looked dirty so I put the mat back in the oven to dry up the food left on it as much as possible and I washed it again. That helped but it isn't worth going through all that. Two Star Reviews: | 7% Lots of smoke and plastic odor October 13, 2016 As other reviewers have noted, this thing produces a very obnoxious odor accompanied by a fair amount of smoke when you first use it. Expecting this, I washed/rinsed it well with soap and water before putting it in a 350F oven and within 10 minutes my whole first floor smelled like burnt plastic. I left it in the oven (with no food, just the mat) for about an hour, then took it out and rewashed it.After that first run I wanted to test whether the product was finished outgassing before I used it to cook, so I preheated the oven with the mat in it before using it. It didn't produce any smoke or odor, so now I am able to use it without a problem. Even still, I wish I'd gotten a different one made from better material than this. It was much thinner than I had anticipated, and the smell was a major turn-off. If you're weary of cooking on something that smokes and stinks like plastic the first time you heat it to cooking temperature, don't buy this. Stick with what works... August 30, 2016 I was unimpressed with this but feel like maybe mine wasn't "authentic". Non stick: Yes. Silicone: yes. Healthy: um... It smoked up my oven when I tried to use it, and I only baked at 350. Also even though there is no way to calculate this accurately, it greatly increased my cooking time, so my chicken was very done on the outside but some bits were not fully cooked on the inside. I had to throw that meal away. I'd say crinkle foil or use metal racks, stick with what works for baking. A pain to clean!! August 7, 2016 So disappointed. I have a silicone muffin "tin" and I love it. Nothing sticks and it is super easy to clean. When I read the description for this it said that one side was flat, it didn't look like that in the picture but it was the description from the manufacturer and I was using the Amazon app on my phone and just didn't look closely enough at it. Regardless of what side you cook on, there are so many crevices it it the biggest pain to clean. I wash it, then put it in the dishwasher, then have to wash it again, then take a paper towel to get what was still left behind. I did like that the bacon cooked out of the grease which is why I gave it two starrs instead on one, but I probably won't use it often if ever again..and if I do, the thing I cook will not be greasy or fatty. Really I was hoping to use this for cookies and such but that just is not going to work out. Disappointed in the quality of this item March 11, 2016 This was a disappointing purchase, even for the price. No cookbook was shipped, which was a bit misleading given the product title. Apparently the cookbook is an "ebook" and there are no instructions on how to obtain it, which was not made clear when I purchased it. There is no information included with the mat at all (I was expecting at least care and cleaning instructions...). The silicon itself is much thinner than expected. It does not provide support for heavier food items to keep them elevated, negating most of the benefits of the shape of the baking mat as the peaks squish flat. The product arrived with what appeared to be some kind of chemical or oil on it, perhaps left over from the manufacturing process and needed a thorough cleaning before its first use. Purchased for the templates on the mat, but are useless.Updated review: The seller did contact me and refund me for the mat that arrived with a big crease, so I added another star for good customer service, but this review is for the product, not the seller. There was a suggestion to change my recipe but I'm sorry, the fact remains that my recipe has worked without problems on two other different sets of silicone baking mats and it is only these that it sticks to, so for me, I do not like them.Reading through comments, I am far from the only person who received damaged or defective mats (several with the same crease as me, others with damage to the silicone material). These were much cheaper than other silicone baking mats out there, which made them appealing with all the great reviews, but I have owned more expensive mats for several years now that work perfectly today as they did right out of the box. I'll stick with those and use parchment paper for a template. |

One Star Reviews: | 14% Warning!!! February 8, 2016 Warning! These must be knocks off or something. We got this as a Christmas gift and finally used it today. Totally started melting and giving off crazy fumes. Entire meal is ruined and whole house smells like burnt plastic. Shocked that Amazon allows this kind of stuff to be listed when it clearly is not safe. I pre heated the mat to see what would happen ... April 30, 2017 I have some of these by an alternate manufacturer & they are wonderful. I "thought" silicone mats would pretty much all be the same, but they aren't. These are awful. Merely roasting veggies today left them stained. My others don't get stained, I didn't know it was possible. Secondly, these are always slimy. Tried straight undiluted Dawn, tried running them through several cycles of the dishwasher (Cascade + Dawn) - nothing works to un-slime them. They're pretty gross. I'm worried now if they're imparting something onto the food cooked on them. Leaves a funny taste February 17, 2017 I love the idea of these mats. They do work wonderfully well. Food doesn't stick at all to them. Only thing is, my food now has a funny after taste to them. I even did a test: Baked a dozen cookies on the sheet with the silicone mat and another dozen without the mat. Also did it with french fries and sweet potato fries. Everything that was cooked with these mats did in fact have the funny after taste. I even cooked items on both sides of the mats to see if it would make a differerence...and nope. All had the aftertaste. We have all together stopped using them. Terrible for cookies March 12, 2016 Don't buy these. I use these mats for cookie baking only and I went back to using my old ones. These didn't bake consistently and my cookies spread on these. I also bought a set as a gift for someone and she had the same issue with her cookies spreading too. |
