Skeptical at first I didnt expect a lot of quality, but i didnt mind since it was going to be a gift for my younger brothers. Ill have to give this product 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations, the case is sturdy and strong, seems it can withstand a lot of conditions, the chips are super cool, theyre made of clay so theyre light but at the same time they feel like Glass, its hard to explain but its a good feeling and they look colorful and I loved having all the stacks by my side while playing. The cards arent really good, but they work, and thats fine by me. Also something to note, the case is very heavy, around 18lbs, but we are talking about 500 chips so.For the price its probably the best set here at Amazon. Good job Fat Cat. Perfect for a game of poker with your friends! May 6, 2015 Product arrived exactly as described. If you are looking for an inexpensive poker chip set, this is the one to buy. The metal case was very sturdy and after transporting it from place to place, none of the chips moved around; everything was secure. The two deck of cards that come with the set will get the job done, but I would also recommend picking up some Bicycle cards. The chips were in good condition (I noticed one had a bit of the plastic coating scratched off, just barely), but honeslty, I didn't pay premium price, so I didn't expect everything to be flawless. That being said, there was nothing about this set that was unacceptable and my friends really enjoyed having a ton of chips to play with. Best poker chip set for the price!!! (just buy plastic cards) September 17, 2014 I personally love this poker chip set. It is great for the low-stakes games I play with my friends. We play a $50-buy-in game, and these chips suit our needs just fine. The case is only OK. It seems a little flimsy and I upgraded to an acrylic case for when I have to take the chips to another host's house. Also, the cards are generic paper cards that are not that good. I recommend the J Design (also called "Desjgn" brand) plastic cards (available at other online poker shops). But other than that, this is a great set for home games.If you are OCD about your poker chips, or want compression molded chips similar to what you'll find in a Vegas casino, this is not for you. However, if you just want some basic (and fairly priced) chips for getting a home poker game started, buy this, you won't regret it! You just can't beat the price.Since buying this set I have expanded my chip collection of blue and white chips since we needed more smaller denominations for our games (we use a lot of $0.25 and $1 chips). December 20, 2016 Got this because I was tired of shuffling hundreds of cards for Cards Against Humanity with a standard shuffler and this one can shuffle sooo many at once. This thing is also pretty quiet compared to the standard ones you'd buy at Walmart or Target or whatever and you can actually have conversations with your friends while you shuffle all those cards. I've had it for like 4 months now and it still works great. My only gripe is sometimes the cards get jammed as your shuffling them but that's to be expected. Also didn't like how weird the batteries were, especially because it didn't come with them, so be prepared to order those as well. Overall, pretty great product! The build is nice and strong with very thick acrylic. It is very sturdy.I never dealt from a shoe before, let alone deal fast, but after a few hands, it's a breeze.The one thing to remember is after the game is over, you'll need a ziplock bag for your cards because it's open on top (if you are taking it somewhere). But I like the open top. Buy a card discarder, a chip tray, the green felt and you're all set to deal like a pro. When I received it, much to my surprise, it was a lot bigger than what I expected. I wanted a travel size one so I returned it and bought one with a smaller chip count. However, the chips are definitely good quality and it came with 2 decks of cards, the Dealer/Little/Big chips, and dice. Definitely a solid buy if you are an avid to novice poker player with lots of people over to play. Nice Heavy Chips, Semi-Durable Case November 14, 2016 Chips are great. There are some paint defects on some of the chips. The case is not the most durable but I'm not really carrying mine around a lot so it's fine. Good for a beginners set. It will handle up to six (6) decks which is a lot cards!! Works Great After Small Adjustment July 10, 2017 Four star only because it needed an adjustment before it would work. Had to do an adjustment on the roller because it would not rotate freely and would not ride down the ramp. Reading other reviews, thought I would have to physically modify something via removing some material from the roller. I found that on removing the roller from the assembly by sliding the plastic "bearing assemblies" up and out, the plastic silver cover on the heavier internal roller was not fully pressed together. This made the roller assembly wider than it needed to be and it caused the fit to be too tight, preventing free motion of the roller. I pressed the covering together, aligned the o-rings (rubber tires for traction), put a drop of lubricant in the bearing for good measure, and reassembled. Works as advertised now. Win, Lose, or maybe it's a draw!!! April 5, 2017 It seems to work as intended, but I need to practice loading it. There weren't any good, clear instructions either.The draw is sometimes difficult, not like you see in the movies with a quick pull and flip I had to super glue it to keep it on April 8, 2015 I ordered 3 and one of the fronts slid right out, I had to super glue it to keep it on. As far as the rollers go some had latches that slid up to make it easier to lock it in place and others didn't. Chips are decent though. Decent set overall, but chip tray isn't sturdy enough December 13, 2015 The chips seemed pretty good -- solid, reasonably heavy weight. But I had to return the set because the chip tray was damaged in multiple places when I received it. Looks like the tray just can't stand up to the shifting weight of the chips during shipment.The case was shipped in two nested cardboard boxes that fit the case exactly (i.e. no extra padding material); maybe if it had some padding material, it would have been ok, but it looks to me as if the chip tray just isn't sturdy enough to handle much jostling at all. Just Okay June 12, 2014 Had to return the first poker set as it was badly dented on one side and the clear wrapping around some of the tubes of chips had been torn open. In addition, there were several scratch marks on the case giving the appearance that it was a used item. Amazon replaced it with no hassle. (Thanks, Amazon!) The replacement was better, but the second case also had some minor scratches. Also, the three clips that hold the case closed failed after a couple of openings; they no longer hold the case closed at all. This makes the carrying handle useless. Perhaps the clips would work better if the case weren't so heavy; so a smaller version of this item might be fine. But it was too pricey for such poor design/performance. I wouldn't buy it again and wouldn't recommend it to others. Good for the Price August 14, 2013 For what I paid at the time (about 35.00 USD), this is a decent chip set that I can see holding onto for a few years.The aluminum case seems sturdy, and heavy when full, but that weight gives me cause for concern considering the plastic handle. I wouldn't recommend carrying this set like a briefcase, but in two hands. I don't know if the handle will necessarily fail, but I don't especially want to find out.The chips themselves are light, mold-injected pieces. They have a good feel and sound to them, and fit well inside the case. However, you'll be hard pressed to find more than a handful that don't have little lines of paint drizzled across them, so aesthetically, they are not high quality.The two decks of cards included are garbage, and will be thrown out as soon as I receive the plastic decks I just ordered. Alternatively, those decks might make good stocking-stuffers for younger kids.Overall, the set is by no means a high-quality showpiece, but for what I paid, I think it's worth the money in terms of practicality and ability to be used without feeling guilty about smudging the $500 set on the mantle. | 13% Ordered two - one works, one doesn't October 31, 2016 Ordered and received two shufflers. One works OK, the other doesn't. Didn't try them both soon enough so the return period had expired by 9 days by the time I tried the second one. My fault. Several issues. Deflection tabs too low not allowing tray to be inserted at the top, card pick up wheels don't pick up the cards and interfere with the tray being inserted, and shuffle switch works intermittently and requires too much downward pressure when it does. Price was OK, though now, for me anyway, it is one shuffler for the price of two. Tsk, tsk, shame on me. So I thought ordering this would be great. Well it is ok August 1, 2016 We play Hand and Foot every weekend with my in-laws and shuffling four decks gets to be a pain. So I thought ordering this would be great. Well it is ok. The shuffler runs on "C" batteries which is fine, so i inserted the batteries and got ready to shuffle up four decks. The shuffler is kind of loud so it is hard to talk while it is running. One side seems to feed quicker than the other so that is kind of a pain. We used it for a couple if weekends but now hubby says he would rather shuffle by hand. My in-laws still like it since they have a hard time shuffling so many cards by hand. Would I buy another one probably not, it was cheap enough price wise but not quite the quality and performance I was hoping for. Okay-but doesn't work without a little assistance April 4, 2016 Overall I like this product in that it shuffles a large volume of cards easily. However, within a few uses, we had to start holding the part where the cards land as they are shuffled, and gently lower it as the machine shuffled. Failure to do this results in the cards getting jammed. I'd still recommend it if you are looking for an easy way to shuffle a lot of cards, but just know going in that it doesn't function perfectly. An OKAY product February 7, 2016 No instructions included, just look at the picture on the box and you'll figure out how to load the cards. Dont expect a good quality product.Does it's job just fine, eventually. I struggled to insert the four "C" batteries required. The springs inside the unit to hold in the batteries are weak, flimsy and are too long, as a result when you insert the batteires each spring that holds in the battery will bend and one or more of the springs will not make a solid contact with one or more of the batteries. My shuffler didn't initially work because there was no contact with one of the batteries. I had to take out each battery and then use a small screwdriver to push down on each one of the springs and then slide in each battery carefully to ensure a solid contact with the spring and the end of the battery. Have used the shuffler a dozen times now, still doing its job. I'd go for a better quality one if I were to do it again. January 31, 2016 It does the job, but it does have a couple things I would change.1) It requires a large, hard to get battery to power. I believe it's a D battery. Not my favorite.2) The restraints that hold the plastic door in came off. One of them can't be put back in at all, making the door fall off frequently and need to be held on manually while shuffling.I wouldn't buy it again. Mediocre quality but still quite serviceable August 8, 2014 It seems as though quality is very inconsistent for this item. Mine had absolutely no instructions, requiring a little detective work on my part...it's not even obvious without a photo which end should face up! Also, one of the slides for holding the card receiver came snapped off in the box, which didn't significantly impair operation but is a little bit of an inconvenience. Finally, two C batteries does seem a bit excessive in this day and age.Operating the shuffler is pretty simple. You split the cards you want to shuffle into two piles, rest them on the top two trays of the device, and press a kind of finger pedal at the base. Motorized gear wheels slide the two piles together into one interleaved pile. To effectively shuffle any deck, you will have to feed this though a few times, just as you'd have to riffle the cards several times to consider a deck shuffled. The piles should be approximately the same size, or the remainder of the larger pile will not be shuffled at all. So it's not like you push a button and all your cards are shuffled.Despite my complaints, I'd say it's a decent buy for the price I paid ($25). As a player of board games and CCGs/LCGs, I'm more wary of the condition of my cards than your average poker player; a damaged card, for me, could require a purchase of almost $100 to replace it, in the worst case. Since other forms of shuffling are pretty ineffective and I sound like a tool when I keep asking people not to riffle shuffle your precious cards (with dragons on them), something like this serves as a good solution. Main problem is that it does not include a holder or case of any kind for the 300 chips and 2 decks of cards that it includes. So you are left hanging when time comes to clean up. Going back to amazon for this reason, and I will look for something that includes a case for the chips and cards. But does it have a fair price point considering that it's a complete table top for 8, plus cards and chip all for under $50? Yes it does. I am aware that technically there is a puch attached ot the outside of the included carrying back for the table-top. Joints are not held together well and the weight in the shoe is some "recycled" metal (had to graphite after the first 10 uses and found the plastic jacket cracked exposing the rusted metal weight) Roller under black wedge needs some after purchase work. February 22, 2017 The plastic parts are ok and work fine. The problem was the roller under the black wedge would not roll down at all. It appears that there is not enough room for the roller to move freely. The plastic tabs holding the roller was putting too much pressure on the roller. What I had to do was to pull the roller out of the wedge with some force and sand down the tabs holding the roller to allow room for it to roll downward and hold the cards in place. Its still does not roll downward perfectly but now acceptable with a slight tap of the whole unit to get the wedge to roll down. Another option after grinding away some of the plastic on the wedge is to raise the rear of the dealing shoe 1/2" to 1" higher and gravity will help the modified roller slide down. If game security is your concern this shoe should not be considered. Too tight? March 31, 2014 It holds card nicely but I would prefer if the width was wider than it is. When you're holding 8 decks of cards in your hands, it's difficult to get them aligned perfectly so you can put in to this shoe. Few cards will be little bit off from aligned and the dealing shoe will refuse to take them as width is nearly perfect match for the card width. 33% chance of recieving a good product December 14, 2011 I ordered two of these, they arrived quickly and well packaged. Opened them up and one worked great and the other did not roll. I returned it and purchased a replacement.mMy replacement arrived and the roller was popped out of the card pusher and did not work. After smashing my finger and hurting my wrist I was able to pop it back in and make it work. A bunch of the chips are thicker than the other ones so it looks like you have extra chips in the stack when you really don't. And the paint on some of the chips was missing or flaking off before I even opened the packs. The buttons for the big blind, small blind & dealer are all cheap.The cards look ok though. Case is decent as well. chips not so great on felt top tables. December 2, 2015 The chips have some sharp bumps on them that grab and snag on the felt every time you slide them across the table. I tried using a fingernail file to remove the bumps but it did not work!Other than that they are fine.if you had a table with that "speed felt" stuff, which is more like a canvas type material, I think it might be okay and not as noticeable.the cards are those you will find on Black jack or other table games, not the narrow "bridge" style cards you find in poker rooms. Lastly, the case itself bled black fabric everywhere, and the base of the case didn't cover the entire length of the bottom of the case so you can see about an inch of corrugated cardboard and the glue holding it all together.The chips themselves feel solid, and the case seems stable enough.2/5, definitely better chip sets/cases out there. Used chips?!? June 8, 2015 Bought these chips for a cheap and easy solution to a coming poker night with the guys. The cheap aluminum case and poor quality playing cards were about what I expected for the price point. Completely satisfied with those. The chips have a really nice feel for the price leaving me close to a 5-star rating. However, upon closer inspection, the entire set of chips appears to be used? They are all dirty and heavily worn. I mean very heavily worn. They cam packaged like new with each column of chips shrink wrapped neatly, but the fact is, these chips appear to be heavily used. I was compelled to wash my hands after handling them. Will wash the chips and keep them since I don't need a very nice set, but I would try another set if I had to do it over again. Poor packaging, bad chips, bad cards March 17, 2013 Cons:1) The FedEx package had a receipt and manifest of the contents of the package clearly taped on the front of the box. Anyone glancing at the package could easily have seen what was inside it, my name, my order number, my address, etc. This is very dangerous for many reasons, not the least of which are privacy and security concerns.2) Both the FedEx package and the box inside it (the actual product box from Fat Cat) had two large holes torn into it, as if someone had stabbed through the package.3) The chips included in the case are filthy. After unwrapping them, my hands were black; the chips also have a decidedly gritty feel to them.4) The chips are also unfinished - some (roughly one of 10) are poorly painted, have rough edges, etc.5) The case is not lockable. Not a big deal, really (seriously, who locks the chips in a friendly home game?), but it was advertised as such incorrectly.6) The two included decks are quite flimsy; most people will want a replacement deck.Pros:1) The chips have a good weight and sound to them.2) The case itself is sturdy and doesn't seem likely to break anytime soon.Also, note that there are no dice included in the set, although there is a slot to store some, if you're into that sort of thing.Overall, I get the impression that these chips are simply the rejects from Fat Cat's factory. I consider myself one of the lucky guys since my case is only missing one foot (without other damage).Let's talk about the chips themselves.First of all, when stacked, they don't have the same height! Even before I open the plastic wrap around the chips, I notice that they don't have the same height. I then patiently counted the number of chips in each roll and the numbers are the same, 50 chips per roll. I cannot image what king of production process they use to produce these chips. I though they should be like die cast so they'd have the exact same dimension...Secondly, they are completely unfinished that I'm afraid that the sharp edges could cut my fingers... (the cards that come with the set probably would cut my fingers too if I'm not careful enough. Well, ... October 7, 2017 Our daughter has been getting more and more into board and card games, so we decided that we might want to invest in a card shuffler so she can get involved in helping get the games ready by shuffling them. Doesn't shuffle evenly beteeen and one side will go down far more quickly that the other. Wish it was better quality January 29, 2017 I really needed this as it hurts to shuffle cards with arthritis unfortunately this isn't a very good shuffler.One side will work while the other side doesn't. Cards get stuck in it all the time. If you have help or an extra set of hands holding both sides of cards in while you are pushing the lever at the bottom then it will work sometimes. But don't hold your breath as this doesn't always work without the cards getting jammed sideways in the holding tray either.It uses 4 C Batteries so it can be expensive to run.It is just not a good product. Think again July 5, 2016 We used this machine for about six months, no problems other than using to many batteries. Then it stopped and would not distribute the cards evenly from each side. So we gently took off the small plastic window. We discovered the parts in this machine are so thin, you would not believe they did not come apart earlier. The piece inside at either side, for distributing the cards from one side to another is placed together with the tiniest of welds, micro in fact and no way to weld back. June 30, 2015 The problem I have had, has been with the roller under the black wedge. After using the shoe for just a few days, the roller got stuck and wouldn't turn. I tried to free it up, but couldn't get it loose. I sent it back and promptly received a replacement but the roller on this one had fallen out of the wedge and was so loose after putting it back in, it kept falling out. See my pictures and video. TERRIBLE Quality February 15, 2017 Very poor quality. This is what happens after you get the best reviews on Amazon. You can't keep up with demand and the quality just tanks. Almost every single chip has printing issues. The white parts of the chips are chipping off or splotched on. I'd say about 4 out of every 5 chips are extremely flawed. I just got another set on Amazon and they're printed just fine. Buy a chip set ANYWHERE else. Not of quality described! I consider myself a regular poker player and these chips really are sub par for a few reasons.1. The chips are terribly painted with cheap (maybe lead) paint. It failed to work at all when we got it. I took it apart, compared the wiring to one that was given us that marginally worked - only on the right side. Reglued the tabs and connections and now it seems to work OK. We've now been through two sets of 4 "C" batteries. The one we were given by a frustrated friend still only runs on the right side. It takes two people to operate - a driver and a loader. The loader splits the six decks in half and holds them near the shuffler. The driver presses the run tab and manually starts the left side spinning.
