Milk thistle is amazing.I started taking it because I took a couple of rounds of antibiotics and started to eventually feel side effects. My gut was pretty messed up. When I told my doctor about this, guess what he wanted to do? Place me on another round of antibiotics. Surprise, surprise. So then I decided to take the plunge and went to see a naturopath, or what my friends like to call a hippie dippy, witch doctor. Haha. And I felt like the naturopath gave me more insight to my body than ever before. He recommended a couple of herbs and milk thistle was one of them.I'm so glad I started taking this. I've read up on it a lot and it has crazy benefits. The thing about this herb is it's not like you'll notice a night and day difference right away or even within a few weeks. It's a difference that you'll notice big time in the long run...if that makes sense. It helps to clean the body out as a whole and once your liver is functioning well (milk thistle's main superpower is liver detoxification), everything else will function better too.This is a side note....but I did notice something funny/interesting about this herb that I didn't really expect. So, when it comes to drinking alcohol, I'm a light weight and I've always been the person that feels the nasty hung-over effects in the morning, even with just 1 - 2 glasses of wine. But one day, I decided to take milk thistle about 2 hours before going out ....and I noticed I wasn't feeling as "susceptible" to the effects of alcohol as I normally do. I mean...I wouldn't recommend using it to be able to drink more or anything, but if you're a cheap drunk, you get the point. ;) Then the next morning....to my surprise.... I woke up feeling great! Hell, I even went for a run....it was awesome! Milk thistle contains silymarin and silybin, antioxidants that are known to help protect the liver from toxins, including the effects of alcohol.It's also shown to decrease, or even reverse, damage to the liver that’s been caused by prescription medications, antibiotics, pollution, heavy metals and so on. Most Milk Thistle products failed Consumer Labs tests (2016). Jarrow was one of only three that passed the amount of Silymarin on the label. I contacted Jarrow re the reports on mycoplasma contamination and got this reply:Thank you for your e-mail query. We purchase Milk Thistle raw material from Indena in Italy. They are widely regarded as producing some of the best quality extracts in the industry. As part of their quality specifications, they test for aflatoxins (mycotoxins). I hope this helps.

It's good. It got rid of the black circles under my eyes. I didn't know that it would do that but I was surprised to find out that it did.

I take this in addition to DIM to aid in prevention of hormonal acne. Only posting pictures to prove how well this product along with DIM works, in hopes of helping other fellow sufferers. These pictures were taken less than 2 months apart.

Please don't hesitate in buying this product. I have Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. It took my pain away after two days of use. I will take 2 a day for the rest of my life. My doctor told me it was a waste of money when I first asked him about milk thistle. He was sooooo 100% wrong.

Hi, this is a true story - my own - about how well Milk Thistle (MT) works, and this brand in particular. I have a very severe form of Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) which causes painful contraction knots in the muscles called trigger points. In my case, virtually every muscle contains virtually every possible trigger point and there are over 620 possible. These knots are very painful and that pain can be eased somewhat by routine trigger point injections, where a needle is inserted into the knot and it is broken up and perforated to some extent to get it to release a little and relax.Here's the problem: These trigger points are often filled with toxic metabolic byproducts from staying in a contracted state with subsequent constricted blood flow. When needled, this toxic sludge then gets into the bloodstream. In my case, needling just a few bad trigger points would release so much 'yukky business' into my body that I would have severe vertigo for 4 - 5 days, with the first couple being so bad that I would literally crawl around my house (live alone) to keep from falling over. Oh, I'm not the frail, sickly type either...I'm an ex-powerlifter and retired big city street cop...hardly the weak, excuse making type. But this poison would take me down fast and take almost a week to clear.Since the toxins had a predictable lessening, I knew my liver was clearing it, just REALLY slowly, so I sought ways to speed that up, either by helping my liver or deactivating the toxin. Since I really didn't know what the poisons were, it was the liver route...or get used to seeing my house from my Corgi's perspective.I found out that MT has been known for the bulk of human history as a liver remedy, but I thought that was just so much 'folklore' to be kind. Then I started discovering that MT has been tested in a variety of empirical settings and some rather unbelievable anecdotal ones as one of the better liver drugs out there...when balanced against its huge safety margin and therapeutic value, probably the best. In fact some of the pharmas use silymarin as the active agent in their liver drugs, which is simply refined MT. Good enough for me.Cut to the chase: I started taking 3 caps of MT, 3x a day and immediately all symptoms of vertigo and toxicity were gone. Yes, I said IMMEDIATELY...as in hours, not days. Once this efficacy was confirmed, I was able to have my clinician radically increase the number of trigger point injections. When I say radically, I went from about 4 or 5 injections knocking me out for a week, to tolerating 180 per session, 2x a week for four months. Thousands of injections that did immense good at actually taking the fight to the trigger points the way only a sharp needle can. I was able to eventually taper down to the recommended dosage of just 3 caps a day when the toxic load was much decreased.So here's my take on Milk Thistle: This stuff works like I wish most things did...very, very well. I have had no side effects, in fact, it has prevented disabling side effects from another very effective treatment. Win - win.If your liver needs help, you could do a lot worse than MT. If you get nauseous from a massage, flushing yukky business out of your muscles, then start taking MT before, during, and after. Before I get too carried away, let me say that I'm not a doctor, but this stuff is amazing medicine for the right problems. Do your own research and you decide...it worked for me under conditions that you would have had to see to believe.I chose this brand because it had the most and best reviews...remembering what my doctor told me: "If you want to know if a medicine is any good or not, see if they reorder it." Makes sense to me.UPDATE 05-04-13: Since I see that 21 people (at the time of this update) found this review hard to believe, let me add a few more pieces of information:1. Drinking alcohol now is kind of expensive...actually it's largely a waste of time. Why? Whatever the MT does to the liver makes it clear ethanol VERY quickly...at least in my case. So a strong Belgian ale that would've been good for an hours buzz, now might give about 10 - 15 minutes. I'm not saying that I'm recommending drinking more if you use MT, just that it did something to my liver that is hard to explain medically, so I will just report what I observe.2. Anyone wondering about the actual dosages, frequency, locations, techniques, etc...in the admittedly rather extreme trigger point injection protocol should contact me directly. I will provide you with more than enough information to convince anyone including physicians. Let me state that Aetna Specialty Pharmacy told me that I received more injectable supplies BY FAR than the next closest patient in the entire network. The reason one can only get 4 injections (in my case) at the doctor's office is that is all the insurance will reimburse for in the billing codes. Get a script for the injectable supplies and a lot of education and help and much more is possible.3. I totally suggested that my boyfriend take these supplements after i read all the good reviews the other customers left. His performance in bed was less than stellar and I couldn't exactly blame him for being limp sometimes. but he seems completely reinvigorated by this product after just a week of taking it. I've been using this product ever since it first came out. I am only leaving a review now because I feel like i have thoroughly experienced all the effects of this product. Okay, first, the energy boost, that was awesome, I could do more things now because of it. The increased libido and stamina is also amazing. just ask my wife how much I satisfy her every night.

I only took this supplement to see if it really is effective. Well, I did see results within a week of taking this and the energy boost is just amazing. I only trust all natural products because I I have heard some pretty horrific stories about chemical based male enhancement supplements. This one is totally safe and I have not seen any unwanted side effects.

Now, I don't have any problems with getting my dick up but I do like to be sure so I take this product everyday. Not only for the testosterone boost but also for the nice burst of energy this gives me. It works well like it said so I'm pretty happy with that. It's also all natural so I don't worry about any nasty side effect from this product.

This product tends to make me feel healthier. I have been taking it everyday for over a month and notice that not only does my body feel healthier - but my mind generally feels calmer and I am less anxious. Not sure if its from the Milk Thistle but ever since I started this program I tend to have better digestion.

I can't complain. I had high liver enzymes and between taking this and modifying my medicine schedule some, it seemed to help with getting me back within normal limits.

Seems okay. I prefer pure powder (for my dog) but for me, this is the hardest thing to mix, so caps for humans. With that said, pretty good.

I must correct my review for Jarrow milk Thistle. This product gave me more energy after 2 weeks of use. I still have about 2 months worth of pill left.

I think it works, my numbers have been good since taking Milk Thistle. Jarrows seems to be a more reputable brand with my research.

I've been using this brand of milk thistle for myself and my dogs for about 6 months now. The packaging is great, and the capsules are clean and never stick together. I have come to trust this brand and am happy with this product. One of my dogs isn't as thrilled and will try to find it and toss it out of his bowl, but the other two are blissfully ignorant. :)

Only dinged off a start because it almost took me to finish the whole bottle before I notice any changes in my system. I did order it again so I could really see its full potential. It has very lasting effects and you really would get easily aroused.

Do not take if you are allergic to kiwis. Thistle and kiwis are supposedly in the same family. I'm allergic to kiwi and this product caused me to become very itchy due to an allergic reaction.

This milk thistle is pretty good and I can't neccarilsy say I don't recommend it.. but there are definitely higher quality and more pure versions out there on Amazon. After recommendation from my PCP, I decided to search around and try a few different brands to see if I could find one . In the end I decided that Naturabest Milk Thistle Extract 80% Standardized was definitely the highest quality version available on Amazon for a reasonable price. I have been using it for 3 months and my results have been much better than what I was able to get with this brand honestly. It's ok, but there's definitely better out there..

I don't know if this partially lower rating is warranted but these capsules give me reflux.

I'd urge caution with thistle. Know the side effects, as there ARE side effects. Actively self-monitor. I believe it works well, but perhaps my rapid metabolism gives me problems. With this I get sinus-type headaches for about 3 hours, plus the associated effects of the low blood sugar it can bring on (I'm not diabetic). I checked & found these side effects and more. I'm trying to figure out a better schedule to take it. I believe this is effective, but perhaps it's not for everyone. Too bad, I had high hopes, especially when I noticed it seemed to help with my dry eyes. As the medical adage says-"Strong enough to help, strong enough to hurt". Hope it works better for everyone else.

I didn't buy this for any particular issues other than the effects of being in my late 50s. Maybe a placebo effect, but I think it made me feel like I did in my late 40s. That's pretty good.

My husband has been using this for 2 weeks now and though we have noticed a slight difference, I wouldn't say it is as significant as others have posted. I tried this product because I liked it's natural ingredients and when I researched these ingredients it wasn't going to be harmful for my husband and his diabetes. Well it has helped, but nowhere near what these posts have mentioned. It's not a product I would stand behind, I most likely will not purchase it again and go back to the drawing board. I really had some high hopes for these too.

I gave 3*** like neutral base on the other customer reviews because I just bought this product and have not using it yet but my only concern is why this product is having so much 5* rated (98%), I would like to know if these are fake reviews or the product is so perfect. This really messed up my digestion. May be related to how the Silymarin is extracted. Other forms have not had any adverse affects.The company immediately refunded me when I complained. That's why I gave two stars. Good customer service.

This Milk thistle gave me really bad acid reflux.. not sure if it's the quality of the ingredients or what but since then I've switched to this probiotic and the acid reflux has stopped. I don't want to say that Jarrow is bad or anything, but maybe just for me personally the ingredients reacted negatively in my system. The effects from milk thistle in general for me have been awesome though.

Upsets my stomach so much so I cannot take it. Darn it I wanted to like it I did! Bummer!

Jarrow is a very trusted brand in my experience. I purchased this supplement on the advice of my Naturopath and have taken this before with no issues. However, this time I was stupified to assess why I would suddenly have GI issues overnight only during my ingestion of Milk Thistle. I am not typically allergic to most slip agents, fillers, adjuvants and preservatives. Hence, it is unclear what may have caused the distress. I pride myself on a very clean strict diet which has afforded me excellent GI health. It is most upsetting when you take the trouble to follow instructions and feel worse. I will try another brand to see if that may be the issue. Otherwise, I can only assume the level of toxicity is so high as to create havoc with liver enzymes. Let's hope it was just a bad batch but wanted to report nonetheless for others who experience same. Do not recommend at this time. Will update review when necessary.

sorry to say, i have used jarrow formulas for years with no side effects and also have been taking milk thistle for years, but this formula made me extremely jittery 30 minutes after taking it. at first, i could not narrow it down but something was off in my vitamin regimen. it was only after having lunch and taking my milk thistle did i feel this way but it lasted almost the entire rest of the day, very disconcerting. i just started with this formula of milk thistle about a week ago and this affect started about the same time. i stopped taking it and lo and behold, no more jitters.

This product didn't work for me. I felt no physical boost. Maybe it doesn't pay to be cheap on herbal supplements.
