Perfect if you will give presentations often
September 10, 2017
Used for MANY presentations and conferences, works great on Mac or PC. Pricy but having the timer function (also vibrates), laser pointer, and clicker all-in-one is totally worth it. If you are only going to use it for a few presentations then you may not get your money's worth.I have given ~6 major academic presentation (Between 12-40mins in length) since purchasing (each one practicing over and over again) and I still haven't had to change the batteries. I plan on giving MANY more presentation in my career, and I love having my pointer than I know how to use, know the functions, and will keep me on time. The laser pointer is plenty bright for all rooms and projection settings.Highly recommended.
... R800 several times during professional technical presentations and absolutely love the feel of it in my hand
August 21, 2017
I've used the R800 several times during professional technical presentations and absolutely love the feel of it in my hand. I honestly haven't used the timer much since most of the time audience members are asking questions, which throws off the timing aspect. The green laser pointer is a must when walking around and referencing objects on my presentations. Overall I love the logitech presentation pointers, but not sure this is worth the timer if you don't need it. Either way love it.
I was using the kensington remote previously and it worked great for a long time but then I lost it
June 6, 2017
I bought this for use with my 2008 Macbook Pro, which runs Os X Yosemite. I use it for PPT and Keynote and I have had no issues with it. I originally got it from office depot and found it cheaper here on Amazon so I returned it as office depot. I was using the kensington remote previously and it worked great for a long time but then I lost it. I purchased that back in 2010. Well I got another one and it didn't perform so well. I returned it for another and that one didn't do good either. It said 50 feet and was giving me more like 8-10ft. I saw this clicker for a long time and decided to go for it and it has been the best clicker. I really like the timer and I used frequently but I wish it would start from zero and just keep counting. You have to program a time into it and then it counts down and I don't like that feature. It buzzes in your hands when you have gone past your program time. The green lazer really shows up nice on the screen so your audience can see it. The red lazer on the Kensington never really could be seen on the screen. Some people said they had problems on their Mac with the R800 but for me on Yosemite it has been really nice and I stand about 50 ft away and it does the job really well.
Long battery life and awesome timer.
December 8, 2016
I conducted 10 presentations in 6 different states, I powered it on from 8:00am - 1:00pm and it only lost one power bar. This thing is awesome on power and I was able to walk around the entire stage. I had to pass this to the other presenter and the timer will buzz your hand once it goest to zero. This was a great feature to keep us on point.
Solid tool for the professional presenter!
August 24, 2016
Very handy, and nicely sized. The contour fits my hand well, and makes it easy to locate each of the buttons. I do wish there were some raised dots on them for better ID, but that's a small matter.I've only tested the range out to about 40', but there were no problems with reception. The receiver is large, but perhaps that's why the range is good. The green pointer is bright, but not obnoxious. It would be really cool if the display could be synced with slide count, but the timer function is handy. This is a fantastic presenter tool that now has a permanent home in my travel kit.
Perfect for any presenter (4.5 rating)
April 30, 2014
A colleague of mine had this exact pointer for a few years (3+ now and it still works great!). I finally decided to stop borrowing theirs and get my own. I specifically purchased this one because:- The green pointer has a larger radius and is brighter (or so it seems) than the red pointers. So it's easier to see.- The screen blackout feature is handy. When you're setting up for a presentation you don't always want your computer screen showing 100's of people your personal things on a projector screen.- Very quick response time. There's virtually no lag between pushing any button and the changing of the screen.- The timer is a handy feature that will vibrate when you reach a certain time point. The cons:I really don't have any - at least no major ones. After all, this is a clicker, what more could you want than what it already has??A possible con for some could be the way the timer works. You set it at say 20 minutes and at 5 and 2 minute mark the pointer will vibrate to let you know. This is fine and it works well (it counts down and displays minutes not seconds). I, however, am someone that would rather have the time count up, or at least have this option to change. The batteries can run out fast. The set of batteries that it came with ran out after ~2 hours (at most) of me using it to practice a talk. I put in new batteries and same thing. I resorted to rechargeable batteries and they seem to last longer per charge. This is just something to keep in mind. I thought a 2 hour time frame for batter power was a bit low considering that's the time frame of one of my classes...and changing batteries every day would get expensive! All in all, I really have no complaints. The timer and battery issue are the only things that knock this down to a 4.5 maybe.

A great Pointer...

I got it for a coworker that trained myself and others how to do the job. Only problem was he used is mechanical pencil and would leave lead marks on the screen. I got him this so I could reach over a person better than reaching and it doesn't leave lead marks on the screen.

Good Laser Pointer for a Semester
March 8, 2016
I use this laser pointer to teach college chemistry courses. Although the long range of the laser, the ability to see the green dot on multiple surfaces (SmartBoard, Computer Monitor, TV screen, etc.) and the ability to navigate through PowerPoint slides is very useful, the laser itself is not long lasting. The green laser stops working after roughly one semester of daily use. The slide advancing or screen dimming capability of the R800 may still be used however, long after the green pointer stops working.
Good product, but not everything as promoted
December 3, 2015
Bought this professional R800 presentation remote for work, as I give at least 1 presentation a week for a large croud of engineers.Reason I bought this remote instead of R400 is the screen with option of set the time and track it with vibration. Also, I was quite attracted with the green laser capability to be visible on LED displays for presentations.Overall, this product is solid, with good materials used, feels very comfortable in my hand. I only have 1 major complaint, it is really major for me, otherwise would give it 5 stars. The green laser is not really visible on all LED displays, as it is promoted. In fact, if you have white presentation background and a large LED displays, the green laser point is either not visible at all or visible hardly enough to track with eyes.Works perfect on walls and plastic and paper screens, though. Also, would like to have an option to reset vibration to, say, 20 min before the set time ends. It seems like standard option of vibration 5 min before the set time ends is the only option.
Laser eats through battery
November 27, 2015
tl;dr: Get rechargeable batteries for it.I teach a class for about three hours a week and this presenter has been fantastic for me. The timer feature lets me know when I have a few minutes left. The green laser is nice since it matches the color of my slides and is generally easier to see than red (assuming my student's don't have deuteranomaly). The reach is fine for me. Very comfortable to hold. Easily palmable with just two fingers if you need to type with your first two.It has a range indicator on the display, but I think 100' is kind of pushing it. It is definitely more than 50', but I haven't used it extensively more than 10' away. Additionally, the laser crushes the battery. After a few classes on fresh batteries, I notice that the pointer is significantly more dim to the point of not being able to see it. I've used the pointer for probably 100 hours without having to change the batteries, but the laser will be dead between 10 and 20 hours.I highly recommend getting rechargeable batteries along with this device.
Nice little unit, timer isn't worth the "upgrade" price from cheaper model!
November 8, 2014
I've had this for 3 years now and have used it in several workshops and seminars I put on since then. This device fits nicely in my hand and it's proven to be reliable all these years. A couple things I dislike: (1) Sometimes I find myself having to click twice to make the next slide turn, even being within a range of only 10 feet from my laptop. This happens about 10% of the time where I have to "double click" to make it work. (2) The timer "upgrade" really isn't worth it. Even though there is supposedly a "pause" button after you set the timer, I've found that it just starts going way before I'm ready for my next set. I pride myself in having a "prepared" personality so I'll tend to attempt to set the timer for my next presentation about 5 - 10 minutes before I know I have to start speaking. Since I have someone with video, I have to start speaking when he is ready. I've never been able to figure out how to set the timer, pause it, and then start it when I start talking. I've tried everything so either I'm really a dim-wit or the unit I have is defective. I've even had my tech guy look at it and he can't get it to work right. Once you set the timer, it just starts counting down right away. The last thing I want to do is start fiddling around with setting a new time (which takes a little while) the moment I'm supposed to start speaking. So, for the "upgrade" price to this model from the cheaper Logitech one, I'd say go with the cheaper model that doesn't have the timer since it's really not worth it. The other thing: since this unit is "built to last," make sure you change out the batteries at least once a year or take them out between use. If the batteries get corroded or explode, it will ruin this unit. That almost happened to me and I was able to clean out the corrosion and, luckily, place new batteries in the unit that actually worked.

It works very well when giving computer instructions. It's very effective at pointing out items on the screen or keyboard. I had mine for about three years. Was pretty careful with it, but the tip pulled off. Bent about 1/2 inch of the last length over so it still works. Not as classy, but still works.

You can't find similar products easily, and for this price it has served its purpose. I used this to point the notes when my kids practice piano. This is the second one I ordered, and the first one was broken by my 3 years old after I used it for a week. Don't expect kids can use it, as they either break it or get distracted by it.

Great for Piano Lessons!
March 13, 2013
I bought this after getting tired of leaning over the piano to have to point to things in the music. It has helped a lot and is much better on my back. The only complaint I have is that the first one got a little bent and eventually broke. However, I did like it enough to buy two more. So I do recommend it but just be careful about bending it!

Nice but limited functions and failed early
October 6, 2017
This is a nice enough device, but it failed prematurely after very little use, and has some limited functions compared to other products at comparable prices.Plus = green laser. Do NOT get red lasers. They are just not nearly bright enough. The green laser is much brighter, but still a bit of a struggle to be adequate.Minus = no cursor controls and no ability to tab around within a slide. Other units have this and depending on the nature of your presentations, it is sometimes really handy to have. The unit is comfortable to hold, and unlike others, I had no problem with button locations, but its early failure and lack of advanced controls see its score drop, particularly in view of its premium price.

August 29, 2017
Initially, this was a great product. It feels good in hand and has some nice features that remind you with no sound to wrap up your presentation. However, after the first battery replacement the battery seems to die at a ridiculous rate. And, when I replace the battery with brand new ones out of the pack the battery meter never reads more than 2/3 full battery. I do like the product but the battery issue has me looking for another product because the battery life is abysmal. I would not buy this product again.
Pluses and minuses
December 4, 2016
I'm using this for classroom lectures with my Macbook Pro. It works well, and produces a much more visible spot than my old Kensington laser pointer. However, there are two problems:(1) It has several smallish buttons close together, and I often hit the wrong one by accident. The buttons on the Kensington were much better laid out.(2) It drains batteries pretty quickly. I haven't kept close track of this, but I think mine have needed recharging after maybe 5-6 hours use. Batteries lasted *much* longer in the old Kensington.
Doesn't work well on large LCD screens
November 5, 2016
I bought this to use on a large LCD screen in a conference room at work. The spot is visible only if you are pointing it directly at the screen (i.e., at exactly a 90 degree angle to the screen). The brightness dims rapidly if held at even a slight angle, and completely disappears beyond a certain point. If you can stand at the back of the room and move around during your presentation such that you can always keep it pointing at the right angle then this might not be a big problem, but I needed to be able to use it from the side of the room and it doesn't work from there.
Mac support requires 3rd-party software for some buttons, but green laser is worth the cost / hassle.
June 9, 2016
The timer features are somewhat useful, but honestly they're mostly redundant to what you already have in the presenter view on your laptop. I think the green laser is the best feature of this thing. It really is A LOT easier to see than a more common red laser. The Mac support for this product sucks. You plug it in and it more or less works, but you'll need to add some additional software if you want more than just the forward and back buttons to work in Keynote. Logitech doesn't care because 99% of the people buying this thing are using it with PowerPoint. To be clear, it's the start/stop and screen blanking buttons that don't work natively. If you want to get them working, search for "using the presenter r700 with a Mac" and follow the steps. That annoyance aside, this is a high quality presenter & the green laser it totally worth the extra money.
Laser fades, buttons too close
May 6, 2016
I have been using this presenter for over a year and every time I use it I decide that I am throwing it away and replacing it with another presenter. There are 2 main problems with this presenter: first the button are so close together that you are almost destined to be clicking multiple buttons together especially when you are pressing the laser, you will find that you will be pressing forward and backward buttons and moving through the presentation unintentionally and losing track of the presentation while trying to go back to the slide you were on.the other major issue is the green laser itself, even with a new battery the laser light fades after few seconds and disappears, you will try to press the laser button again or hard but nothing will happen, it takes 10 to 15 seconds without pressing the laser then you will regain that function! this happens so often and at anytime including while you are pointing at the slides making it embarrassing and useless.I finally decided to stop using it and I am ordering another green laser pointer of another brand to see if it works better. will update you if the experience with another brand was better.

Does Not Work As Described
October 25, 2017
"LCD display? Plasma display? Projection screen? No matter what presentation screen you use, this powerful green laser pointer is easy to see."This is simply not true. The only reason I didn't give it only one star is that the laser is good and clear and being able to use it as a remote is a plus. When I tested it on some screens, it worked ok, but wouldn't work on the screen I needed it to work on.
Great laser pointer - until it broke.
August 10, 2016
This started out as a 5-star item, but it broke in a weird way. Logitech's customer service will determine if this ends up as a 1 star review or 5 star review.I bought the laser pointer about 4 months ago. It was working fine until today when I changed the batteries. Now the "laser" button doesn't work. As soon as I power on the device, the green laser starts shining. There is no way to stop the green laser except by powering down the pointer. This is dangerous - who knows in what direction the pointer will be pointing in when it's turned on? It's also not ideal to start and stop the laser by turning the device on and off - that would prevent me from using it to advance slides. Unless Logitech figures out what went wrong, it's an expensive paperweight.
MAC Users Warning....
May 18, 2016
I had used this for approximately three months with my Mac without any problems. Then all of a sudden the pointer failed to operate, so Ihad called Logitech support. They where not very helpful at all !!! Their final explanation was that its for a PC and not for a MAC and that'swhy your having difficulties with the pointer ..."really" So be forewarn, you will not receive any technical support from these guys if your lookingfor it when it fails to operate
Presenter works, laser fails
January 22, 2016
I purchased this Logitech Professional Presenter R800 in June of 2015. We use it daily in a classroom for mainly PowerPoint presentations. The general functionality works fine. It works to move forwards and backwards through a presentation, the blank screen works fine. I have two problems with my purchase. First, even with the 'high end' Duracell batteries, we end up replacing batteries about once a week (yes, we turn the unit off in the evening and on when starting class the next day). Second, the laser pointer worked fine for the first few months, but now, even with fresh batteries (battery indicator shows a full charge), the laser initially does not light up, and I have to hold the laser button for several seconds (roughly 5 to 10) before it slowly brightens. When we stop using it on a break, the laser seems to go dim again and it again takes several seconds to return to a brighter light. The laser is less than reliable on my unit.
Disappointed for the price
September 3, 2015
I wish there was an option for "disappointed" for the price. I bought this presenter in June 2015 and here I am in September 2015 (that's right, 3 months) and now my batteries keep shifting inside the case. The timer shuts off in the middle of my presentation for a 9-hour class which I teach for four days. It's frustrating because in the middle of my presentation I cannot advance the slides. I have to take out the batteries and "secure" them every 60 minutes or so. Maybe I have a defective presenter (just my luck), but I'm not pleased. I gave a rating of 2 stars, because when it worked, it worked. Also the right advance button has started to wear off. Really?
I really liked this presenter until I lost the USB receiver
April 28, 2015
I really liked this presenter until I lost the USB receiver. I purchased a replacement receiver from Logitech, but it wasn't compatible with my presenter. Apparently they changed the design without changing the model numbers, and I didn't realize that it was not compatible. When I tried to return the USB receiver, customer service gave me the run around because although I contacted tech support about the problem within 30 days of the purchase, I didn't contact sales to return it fast enough. (I did contact them within 30 days of receiving the order, just not within 30 days of placing it.) After a month of frustrating contact with sales reps, I gave up. I could have purchased an inexpensive replacement presenter for the $19.99 cost of the useless receiver. If you are very careful not to lose the receiver, this will probably be a great product, but if you might leave the USB somewhere, beware that replacements may not be available if the product is updated and I found the customer service to frustrating.

Handle with care...very flimsy
December 11, 2013
The sections near the tip of this pointer are very thin, and because of that they are very easy to bend. It is not at all sturdy. If you you handle it with care, you can probably get a reasonable amount of life out of it, but I would not purchase this again.I replaced the ACCO pointer with the Autopoint® Extended Length 35" Pointer, Black Matte with Chrome Trim, Extends to 35" (41510), and I recommend it. It is much sturdier, even when extended to its full 35" length. The Autopoint costs more than the ACCO, but it's worth it.

First Strike Against Logitech
September 21, 2017
The green laser pointer doesn't work. Unfortunately I didn't use the product until after my official return date, so I cannot return it as much as I need to. I love Logitech products. But this green laser doesn't work on the newer style LED conference room monitors. The change from the older projection screens to the new LED monitors has created a problem for presenters as the typical laser pointer does not work at all on the monitors, neither does this R800, though it was described as working. The green light shows on the wall behind the monitor, but one only sees a very faint green dot on the monitor. As a presenter, I need to be able to point things out on the monitor with a laser and not be tethered to monitor in a presentation room so that I can point to things. If there is a high performing laser pointer out there that truly does work on the new LED monitors, please reply to this and let me know.

April 2, 2017
Laser pointer not at all strong in even a small classroom. Function buttons so close together than I often press the wrong on. Battery cover in back on unit fell off and got lost. January 4, 2017
I purchased two of these clickers over the last year and BOTH have failed within a few months of purchase. One stopped working altogether and the second I was teaching a class and it EXPLODED in my hand!!! Literally went BOOM and the whole class jumped and it popped in my hand and it must have been the laser pointer that exploded because the laser stopped working at that moment in time. They should replace my products! To have one fail is acceptable, things happen, but for two CONSECUTIVE clickers to fail within months of purchase, the second exploding in my hand within just one month of purchase, is unacceptable, especially for products at this price level.I purchased a third clicker and it broke within a week of getting it! I am reporting this to Amazon.

I bought it about a year ago. I used it for one presentation and worked fine. But when I was trying to use it for next presentation recently, the LASER is gone!! Slides can be switched back and forth with the remote but light doesnt work. I am not happy with the amount that I paid. :( :( :( Very disapointed.
Don't Waste Your Money
December 24, 2015
This only worked about 3 months and then became an expensive laser pointer. Since I had it more than 90 days, I could not get a refund. I do use several products from Logitech for creating videos and am quite happy with them so when I told this to the company, they offered to replace it for free. The new item lasted about four weeks and also died. It is not like I am abusing them; I am a school teacher and use it a couple of hours a day. I am now looking for another one from somewhere else.
Completely Failed After Two Hours - Not The Batteries
October 30, 2014
Failed a couple of hours into a presentation - and we were really not using the pointer. Tried new batteries and still dead. Our On/Off button always seemed hard to move so maybe that was a hint but only had one so no way to compare. Really hard to get into package also. Would not recommend if you're like us and had to go for another 6 hours without a remote! Get something with fewer parts is all I can recommend - we were excited about the screen to black feature and liked the layout of the buttons but none of that mattered when it failed so quickly. P.S. It was not dropped, just did not come back on when we turned it off at the first break.
