My sister came over and she used it to make the most wonderful creme brulee, Other ideas is to use it for melting cheese or just adding that little char on things. We had a living room camping sleepover and we used it to scorch the marshmallows for smores. I love that it has a window on it to tell how much fuel it has.. this is a wonderful feature .. you dont get started and run out of fuel half way through... Also it is adjustable and refillable... Lighting our pit-fires, grills, cigs etc.. my husband is excited to use it for his more "manly" things, like soldering! March 14, 2017 I went with other reviewers on this one because this is my first kitchen torch. I must say, I'm very happy with my purchase. Great quality product, doesn't feel "cheap." The stand is useful for when you're done lighting your food on fire and you need to let it cool. The torch fits into it "snuggly" to ensure it doesn't tip over when in place. If you decide to not take it out of the stand while in use, it doesn't get in the way of the task at hand. The adjustable flame knob on the back allows you to pick the intensity. It is much better than using a small butane torch. It sits on my patio table and makes an impressive lighter. Note: the the trigger will not pull until the safety is lowered and this must be done each time you light. It is not a big problem and I like that there is a safety mechanism. August 19, 2015 I make creme brûlées regularly and have used another torch for a long time. Unfortunately it took forever to brûlée due to it's small size. Being a mechanic, it was a torch I used in my job. Fortunately, I found this torch and can highly recommend it to everyone. It really is simple to use, looks great in the kitchen, fits your hand comfortably but most importantly, it does the job reliably. I spent a lot of time viewing a lot of the torches for sale here, evaluating them the best I could. After receiving it, I could not be more pleased. It is better than expected and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade or a first time buy. |

Filling with butane was not difficult but I did spill a bit so I had a small mess to clean up. So far so good, I got the job done and look forward to having this for long term use! My only complaint is that there is not more information supplied on how to fuel it up! I had to go to youtube and watch several videos before I could figure it out. Call me a dummy, but I can't believe I'm the only one who's never added butane to a torch or lighter of any kind. I was inches away from returning the dang thing before I figured it out. Will be a good backup to have around but the ignition is a bummer. For something that will be used daily, this isn't quite up to the task. Big shot here we come. Works fine. However this makes lighting tricky -- depress the ignite button while pulling the continuous mode button back. It is unlikely I can sen it back as it is full of butane. The replacement works fine! I give it a three December 19, 2015 First one I received didn't work well - hard to light, but customer service bent over backwards to get me a replacement quickly, and I didn't have to return the defective one. The replacement works fine! I give it a three, because it takes a while to char things like a plate full of slices of green bell pepper and tomatoes, and other veggies too. A larger full powered propane type torch for soldering works much faster on veggies. Those are the kind you usually see professional chefs using on TV. NO DIRECTIONS, BUT WORKS. READ HERE TO USE. September 6, 2015 I bought this and another at the same time, quite by accident. First complaint is NO DIRECTIONS. It took me a bit to figure out so let me save you the time. Fill with COOKING TORCH BUTANE by holding upside down and inserting the filler tube into the torch inlet on the bottom for about 10-15 seconds or until you see some bubbles. Wait a few mins to use. The safety switch on this torch is a small sliding tab underneath the igniter, which is the push knob on the back of the head of the unit. The flame height is determined by the little adjuster on the side. The two chrome "balls" on the sides of the barrel are the O2 adjustment which I recommend you do not touch because they are useless. Needless to say, this was not my fave. Though it will get the job done, ultimately, especially now that you have operating instructions. Not strong enough for sous vide. August 18, 2015 It works but I bought it for sous vide searing -- and its not strong enough for that. It takes several minutes to get a reasonable sear on side. I use a pan to sear it AND add additional torching to the pan sear. |

Two Star Reviews: | 4% Didn't last. August 11, 2017 I started using this a few months ago. After refilling it only 3 times, it stopped working. I had just bought 12 cans of butane and now I don't have a torch. It's almost like the starter failed. Not happy since the one I purchased last, lasted several years. Idk what I should do and I just wasted my money March 19, 2017 My butane gas canister cannot fill the torch apparently! And I need to use it by Tuesday. Idk what I should do and I just wasted my money was great while it lasted March 19, 2017 igniter went out on it within 2 weeks, was great while it lasted. Also doesn't hold as much fuel as you think. Hard to refill and low usage time. March 18, 2017 Unable to properly refill. May have gotten a defective one. Sending back. The flame is super wobbly and makes this loud whooshing noise February 16, 2017 I think my butane torch I received was defective or something. Nothing wrong with filling it up, although it leaks a little, not much compared to the last torch I was replacing. Using the torch is a different matter. When it did work for a couple of days, it worked well. My torch would leak fuel out of the bottom almost immediately after filling it. It also came with no instructions at all, just a clear packaging. I am returning it and looking for a better product. December 16, 2015 The ignition release button does not function properly, causing the ignition button to get stuck in the "on" position. Generally speaking, this is made of thin, flimsy materials. I am returning it and looking for a better product. Bad packaging, no instruction included. August 21, 2015 Received it today and as soon as I took it out of the amazon box, it feel out of the plastic packaging. I don't know if I got some returned one instead of a new one or the packaging is just sub par. As other users said, there is no instruction what so ever in the package, just the torch. People who have used it before may not have a problem; first time users will have a hard time figure it out. Seems like they may have instructions on their web site, but that's still some extra step that I shouldn't have to take. A one page instruction is not really that much to ask for. One Star Reviews: | 8% I am really disappointed. The first time I used September 7, 2017 I am really disappointed. The first time I used, it would NOT turn off. I had to sit outside and let it go until it ran out of fuel. I turned it off and it just kept burning. Needless to say, I haven't used since. I order quite frequently from Amazon and am usually satisfied with my order and therefore did something stupid - I didn't save box or shipping receipt, so I can't return. SO very disappointed. Works well, but leaks fuel July 6, 2017 Works great, but does not hold fuel. There is a slow leak, so you will go through much more butane than you are using.I don't know if mine is defective, but I can't recommend this product. It won't light and the whole thing spins in my hand. Very Dangerous!!! May 3, 2017 After 30 days the flint completely stopped working. I tried to use a bic lighter to start it but then the metal base started spinning in my hand. Very dangerous!! Straight from ecstatic to disappointed!!! March 25, 2017 Originally loved this torch when I received it. Now it will NOT refuel and it is soooo frustrating. I'm now using a cheap little torch that seems to have no problem refilling! December 16, 2015 Update: I still cannot give this more than one star because it was broken when shipped, and upon looking at the internals, I can say it is cheaply made (VERY cheap), but with a complete overhaul of the torch, I was able to get it to work. Due to the poor craftsmanship, it is very easy in shipping to have pieces come loose, or lines separate from their attachment, so taking it apart and putting it back together properly would probably fix most issues. Long story short, if you have minor technical ability, you can get to work, but I would recommend buying something different. Complete garbage. Torch produces a flame no larger than a bic lighter. Now I am stuck with this paper weight, as the time required to send it back would cost me more than buying a better torch. DO NOT BUY! Not a good torch. Get a Newport instead. The second one I received, after working for about two days, began to leak butane -- meaning, I did not need to push the gas release button in order for butane to be released. Not good. I did not even want to replace it due to the poor design and for all the danger it is not even putting out a strong enough flame to do any kind of sugar work but as I said? customer service was very kind and it was taken care of instantly |
