Best Home Power Tool you can buy
March 15, 2017
First drill I bought in 15 years. Why did I wait so long? I am a casual tool box guy. Use a power drill 10 - 12 times a year. Spoke with the Makita reps at the Hardware Show last year. They told me to get this model and it will do everything I will ever need a home power tool for. They were right.
Most Excellent
November 23, 2016
I've used it for everything from driving 3" deck screws, to installing kitchen cabinets, and it works great. So much better at driving long fasteners than a drill/driver, and the number of fasteners it will drive on a single charge is truly amazing. I love it. Plus, the battery charges super-fast, and is interchangeable with the ones for my Makita XFD01RW 18V Compact 1/2-Inch Driver-Drill Kit (or any other Makita 18V Li-Ion tool, for that matter), so no worries about ever running out of charge and having to wait. Also, I'd highly recommend getting the Makita T-01373 38 Piece Impact Drill-Driver Bit Set at the same time.
Smokin deal
November 28, 2015
Smokin deal !!! All I needed was an extra battery I've already got the full set. Now for about the same price I've got an extra impact drill and charger. If you look at the white makita set that usually runs $179-220 it comes with 2 half size batteries. This comes with 1 battery that has as much power as the other two combined and it's about half the price.

Fantastic for home and woodshop use
October 10, 2015
Absolutely fantastic impact driver. Plenty of power for all sorts of tasks. I use it for household and woodshop work, and I've yet to find a fastener it can't handle, this includes coarse 3" deck screws, though I don't think it could handle much larger (nor could my other cordless drills or drivers)At this price, it beats out any of the 12v Bosch stuff, and is much cheaper.

If you use it one time it's worth it.
June 8, 2017
This is one of those tools that will sit on the shelf for 2 years, but when it comes time to use it you will be glad to have it. I don't know how I would've removed some screws without it, it likely would've ended in a storm of swearing and stripped screws if it weren't for this.
Excellent quality
March 9, 2017
Heavy duty tool. Tips are larger than pictured in my opinion but that's what you want for loosening large screws.
Excellent product and worked exactly as intended to break loos the stubborn case screws on my yamaha
March 7, 2017
Excellent product and worked exactly as intended to break loos the stubborn case screws on my yamaha and honda engines. One of these is must have for working on motorcycle engines. I use a 2lb shot filled deadblow hammer and one or 2 whacks freed every screw with no stripped heads or damages screws.
Great for removing brake rotors.
September 6, 2016
I bought this tool to remove screws from my 2011 Honda Accord front brake rotors. This tool worked great. A couple of hits with a large hammer, and they came right off. I used my wrist to twist in the direction I wanted the screws to go, and the tool did the rest. I would highly recommend.
Great Deal for the quality
February 22, 2016
I was impressed by this impacts capabilities. I am currently in the process of increasing the tools at my shop all while trying to get a good deal. I'm firm to the term you pay for what you get, but I can assure you this has surpassed my expectations. I first used this on a brake job for a Honda civic and it worked exactly as expected . The impact itself felt strong and durable. At one point it actually hit the hard concrete floor right on the Phillips bit and I was convinced it was chipped or cracked, but it held up like a champ. Still getting the job done without a problem. This is perfect for the typical DIY. Quality for price all the way.
It took all 8 screws off easily with minimal effort
April 13, 2015
For $17 bucks it did what my normal heavy duty screw drivers couldn't. It came with the molded red plastic box. I immediately put it to use to loosen some screws on my Subaru EJ20 engine. It took all 8 screws off easily with minimal effort. Not sure how others are destroying their tools, but this held up well to repeated hits from a deadblow hammer.

Lots of torque. Very light weight.
August 4, 2016
Light weight and full of torque, battery lasted longer than I expected. Should have come with two batteries though
Great Product.
July 23, 2016
Good drill as far as getting the job done. It is a little cheapy on the exterior though. By my fourth use, the front plastic piece snapped and came off and now my drill looks kinda dumb. Doesn't affect the functionality, but I can't quite say it's a five star item for this reason. Months after regular occasional use it still works like day 1.
I love how quickly the battery charges too

Heats up quickly, but gets the job done. I love how quickly the battery charges too.
I would recommend this product
May 18, 2016
I would recommend this product. The price is right. Still holding up. Works good. i could not live without it. 30 plus years as carpenter.
Expensive looking for a back-up battery.
March 17, 2016
I'd really like a second battery, although the one I got lasted longer than expected. Very intrigued with the other products Makita offers. This driver works great! I'm excited to purchase more tools.

Bought it and the product seems very nice and well made. I have not had to use it yet so I cannot confirm if it works correctly. Im sure it will though. I have other tekton tools and they work without a problem.
It works and reasonable priced.
March 21, 2017
Needed this tool to remove brake rotor retainer bolts for a Honda vehicle. Not the most heavy duty tool one can buy but it does the job. I'm glad I now have it in my tool box.

November 7, 2016
I used the tekton the minute it arrived to tackle 45 year old stuck motorcycle screws. Amazing! A couple hammer blows and 30 some screws were unstuck immediately! I should have bought this long ago! I took a star off due to the expected lower quality, the L-R function got stuck and the driver needed to be re-twisted to reset. The price is great for a casual gear head like me.
Great for the occasional user
May 29, 2015
This is a cool, old-school tool. I bought it to remove disk brake rotor retaining screws on my 2002 Mini Cooper, and it worked great. You just have to be patient and follow the directions. It was much more cost effective than buying an electric or pneumatic impact wrench, and it's something I probably won't use more than once a year. The back of the tool--where you hammer on it--showed some deformation, so I'm not sure if it has the kind of longevity someone would want who plans to use it frequently. But for occasional use, it's a keeper.
It works
March 24, 2015
I've only used it once so far (to change brake rotors), It worked fine. This is a tool I'll probably only use once or twice a year but I'm glad to have it.Update 5-7-2017: I've used it a few more times, it's one of those tools you are glad to have when you need it.

August 15, 2017
Purchased to take off rotors on 2006 Accord with 18" rims. The Accord had the original rotors up to 150k miles, when I needed to replace them. Took 1 rotor off with the help of this impact driver, but on the 2nd rim, the tip broke! I used the next size and eventually got the other 3 rotors off. Would I buy again?...what choice would I have? The end of the impact tool was becoming slightly mushroomed also. All in all, somewhat did the job. I really wasn't expecting a whole lot for the price I paid. Oh well, 3 stars from me.
It works fine once I got it all figured out
July 8, 2017
I bought this because it's made in Taiwan rather than China. It took me a while to figure out how the settings work. It's not as intuitive as others I had used in the past and requires a bit of force to change settings. It works fine once I got it all figured out. The packaging needs to have a short instruction to get new users going. There are definitely easier ones to use out there. The construction seems to be very robust as I had expected, but the design can better improved for ease of use.
Averaged impact driver
March 29, 2017
I tried to use this impact driver to get the screws on the rotors off since they were rusted, but this impact driver was hard to use. Didn't give a lot of help. I still need penetrating fluid. I remember the one I used in my shop was great and helpful. Not 100 percent recommended.

first stuck screw, YAH! get to use the impact, and driver broke.....
Not Bad for the Price!
January 21, 2017
Works well, once you figure it out. Mine is backwards. If you set it to R it loosens, and L tightens. This makes zero sense to me. However, with experimentation (and a 3 lbs sledge) I was able to both snap the fasteners free and snap them back tight when the job was completed. These were Honda Accord front brake rotor retainer screws that do not have a given torque value in the Factory Service Manual. So I popped them back in with the same force needed to pop them loose. The finish of the tool's striking area is not pretty at all, with lots of grinder marks under the plating. The but chuck comes loose very easily, and the bits are tight in the chuck. The spring mechanism is sloppy and loose after a few uses. However, it was inexpensive and worked well enough for me. I like it Had it been as nicely finished as my other Tekton gear it would have received five stars from me, but the fact that the direction arrows seem to be backward, the finish is a bit ugly and the tolerances are sloppy I give it three stars. Definitely worth the money, but not nearly so nice as some of the ones you can get for about $50. Since I did not have $50 to spend when I needed this I am please with what I got for my money. This is recommended if you need one right now, do not have a lot of money in your budget, and do not plan to use it a whole lot. It does work well. I will get a more expensive one for my home tool cabinet and will carry this in my trail tool kit in the Jeep.
Broke upon first use.
March 4, 2015
Maybe I got a lemon, but I bought this to help install some new rotors on my car. On the first rotor, after about 5 whacks with my hammer, the collar holding the ball bearings and spring in (that I assume allows it to change from loosen to tighten) broke free and the ball bearings went flying out. I bought a replacement at a local autozone that was almost identical to this one for 9 bucks and it worked like a charm.3-6-15 - edit to original one star review. I've changed it to three stars because I was contacted by the owner of the company Tekton to try to send me a replacement. This kind of customer service is lacking this day and age and is very impressive. Upgraded to 3 stars for this.

December 13, 2016
90 days and the driver no longer works. Tried to put in a screw and it spins internally without driving the bit. Great. It's not like I tried to drive a 10 inch screw. We're talking a 2 1/2 inch screw into a pine 2x4! I thought this was the greatest tool I owned until two days ago. Don't waste your time. Now I have to see what Makita will do for me.
Not usable as-is
November 21, 2015
I have not used this tool yet because it came with no drill bits or driver heads! Makes it hard to use when you can do nothing beyond charge the battery without making another purchase.
Great drill! However
November 3, 2015
Great drill! However, this drill is too expensive to be considered a deal. For one whole Benjamin, this drill is not even on sale by 1%. The original list price is incorrect or from 10 years ago. Do your research before you buy!

It didn't work as advertised
February 5, 2017
Sorry to say it didn't work. Needed to remove rusted brake rotor set screw on 2011 Mini. After figuring out how to ensure driver would twist bit CCW, I beat the driver with a 5-pound hammer and the screw never budged. The beaten end of the driver took a good mashing and the material couldn't take it. It's pretty beat up after 1 use.
Looks solid, how does it work again?
September 11, 2016
Cannot get it to work, definitely not idiot proof. Will keep trying but as of now I have better luck with craftsman tools and a hammer.....Mechanics told me to twist it how you want it to impact. Tighter or looser. Twist left or right then wack with hammer.... Didn't work for me... Idk.
with better results.
August 8, 2016
I bought this because I work in the auto industry and needed tools on a budget, and wasn't very impressed with it.. when other techs tried it they said it was junk and would use their own impact driver instead, with better results.
Need to be able to hold the tool tight enought to provide toque to bolt
February 9, 2016
This tool is meant for very light duty torque applications where you cannot press hard enough to keep torque on a bolt while tightening/loosening. I purchased this to use with brake disk caliper set screws which set at 30 ft/lb. Full force hits with a 5 pound dead blow mallet, death grip with gloves (also tried no gloves) and no budging. Had to opt for a electric impact tool which immediately removed the bolts that were initially worked on and then the second set that had not been hammered yet. To actually get any torque to transfer to a bolt you need to be able to hold the tool equally or more to the bolt being worked, which in my case was not enough.
Didn't Hold Up
February 18, 2015
Had to remove ten rusted screws on fuel pump in gas tank. On the last screw tool jammed and wouldn't work again. I tortured it with a mini sledge to get those screws out - but still it is supposed to be made for that. Won't be buying again. Bought this a year ago and just got around to using it so couldn't get money back or exchange.
The company should make better quality bits
November 4, 2014
Received the item well package complete with accessories including the red case. However, it didn't work on my 2008 Honda Odyssey. Even with the help of WD40, it didn't help. The #3 positive bit broke thus removing my front right rotor became harder and longer.... the broken bit was stocked in the screw so I have to drill it out. The company should make better quality bits!

Broke in the first 30 seconds, literally junk quality.
September 27, 2017
Piece of crap, fell apart the first time I used it. Trying to change my breaks and needed this to get the bolt out of my rotors, wasted 2 hours of my time. This tool fell apart in the first 3 hits with the mallet, it's made out of thin cheap metal that cannot take a hit, which is the main function of this toll. Don't waste your time.
very frustrated I wasted my money
August 14, 2017
This thing is junk, tried using to loosen a trim screw on my van, not even rusty, this thing does not turn at all, I made sure it was twisted to the left which supposedly loosens it, does not turn at all and just mushrooms out the end and wears out the tip, the screws I was trying to get out just got impacted in more and is pushing in the metal that it is screwed into, complete worthless junk, very frustrated I wasted my money... I have a few tekton tools but this will be my last purchase from them.
Don't buy this unit, buy Lisle unit!
August 6, 2017
This seems to me to be a piece of junk. I had very little luck with it. Yeah, after smacking the heck out of it, i was just hoping to get lucky on two Brake Rotor screws.I highly recommend the unit below:Lisle 29200 3/8" Hand Impact Tool SetI picked up one of these, and two whacks, and the screw broke free. Worked perfect on all 4 front brake rotor screws.
Item arrived pre-used and bent
June 7, 2017
A bent impact driver... Pretty pathetic if you ask me. It's also very obviously pre used, end is smashed up and there are scrapes and dings down the product. Either they have the most reckless manufacturing process ever or this is a blatant ripoff? I'm returning it regardless of whether it works.
Don't waste time or money
October 13, 2016
Tool was only able to be used 3 times. Worked (but not well) removing a door latch. The rotation upon striking was minimal. A few days later, removing brake rotor retaining screws it failed to rotate at all. Fortunately my tool truck brand replacement had arrived by that point. Also the striking end began to deform from the hammer blows, and the anvil was no longer straight. I have never seen that before on an impact driver.
Very poor quality.
June 11, 2016
Returned this as defective. Very poorly made, soft metal on the end you hit it on, the end caved in. Large slotted bit shattered attempting to remove a drain screw (that I was later able to remove with a Craftsman driver.)As usual, Amazon took it back without issue.

User Overview
  • Awesome suction

I owned both vacuums. The Makita is lighter, easier to use, the battery does not keep popping out like in the Dyson (I hated having to keep hitting the battery and restart the vacuum) and the suction is comparable. I will have to buy the carpet nozzle to figure out the pet hair issue (the floor nozzle does not do a good job with pet hair). Dyson picks up the pet hair very well.
