Five Star Reviews: | 82% Great for home and jobsite June 25, 2017 This driver works like a champ. Very powerful yet frugal on power drain. Excellent Bargain May 31, 2016 I love this impact driver. I bought it from a seller without the original packaging, but it was cheaper than I could find anywhere else and it was 100% new. I already had two batteries that could fit it so I didn't need more batteries or a charger or a bag. All of which would have increased the price. The value was excellent and the tool is amazing. I feel like I rarely need to charge the battery though I use it all the time. I had no idea how much better this impact driver is than trying to use a regular drill for the same work. There doesn't seem to be much this light yet powerful tool can't do. It also arrived sooner than I anticipated with the free regular shipping. I highly recommend this tool to anyone looking for a great addition ... January 17, 2016 What can I say about this lovely tool... It's light, compact, and has gobs of power to drive in even the most stubborn screw into hardwood. I waited years to get one of these, and am kicking myself for struggling so long and stripping out the heads of #2 phillips screws SO many times! The 3x LED lights at the front of the tool illuminate the bit and work area at the slightest bit of trigger pull, which is a huge plus when working in dim areas. I highly recommend this tool to anyone looking for a great addition to their cordless too set. I find myself using this all the time over my cordless drill now. Get yourself a good set of driver bits and go get some projects knocked out! Very happy with this purchase March 21, 2015 Super happy with this unit. I had a big project, all day kind of project and I used this bad boy for uncrewing, screwing, drilling. Used it all day on and off throughout the day and the battery was still at full power at the end of the day. By all day I mean 10:00am until 8:00pm. Will drive deck screws to China and back December 2, 2014 This is the first Impact Driver I have used, as well as my first lithium cordless tool. I now call it Vlad the DeckSlayer, and it is my new best friend. There is no speed adjustment on this model, but I don't think it really needs one. You can feather the trigger if you want to drive a screw slowly, but the experience is comparable to feathering the gas pedal on a Formula 1 car. If you have a regular drill already, I would use that for situations where you need a really light touch.I tested it out by taking it to a volunteer day at the community garden, to help build compost bins out of shipping pallets. The compost bin job required using three-inch deck screws to join the pallets together at the corners, making nice little eco-friendly compost boxes. None of the loaner drills had the juice to get the screws in more than halfway, so we gave the impact driver a try... and it promptly earned the name "Vlad the DeckSlayer," because this tool was clearly designed by Vikings for one purpose- the conquest of screws. Vlad laughed maniacally as it drove in the deck screws like a hot knife through butter. Being raised on 14v Nickel-Cadmium drills, I was used to having to coax a drill to do this kind of grueling work... but Vlad needed no coaxing or coddling. Vlad was going to drive the screw until I released the trigger, and I was afraid if I did not feed it screws fast enough, it would turn and drive ME into the pallets instead. The sound of the impact hammer caused everyone to stop and glance over at what the hell was going on near the shipping pallets, because it sounded like someone was removing bolts from a wheel at a racetrack. I can imagine them seeing a bewildered suburbanite cowering behind a small space gun, as it loudly and violently shoved deck screws into each pallet. If you have any project coming up that requires driving more than 4 screws, use that as an excuse to buy an impact driver. You won't regret it... though you may want to take the battery out when done using it, to keep it from growing legs and rampaging across the countryside. Right Tool for the Right Job September 6, 2014 My dad always said there is a right tool for every job. The Dewalt DCF886B 20V XR so far is the best tool and the right tool for jobs that require compactness, power, dependability. One of my two engineer grandsons introduced me to this tool. One of his men demonstrated it for me. I bought it. Even as a new as it is, I've already profited by it--and even chose to give another new one as a gift to a worker far more talented than I am. His reply as an experienced tool-man was that the tool is superb. I'm sure there are other brands and tools that will get your job done, but this one comes recommended from family/friends much more experienced than I am. If you need one, I'd buy it if I were you and could. | 78% Nice impact February 28, 2017 Bought mine for use around house and property. It has performed flawlessly Would highly recommend. I use 3ah batteries and haven't had to charge during a job yet. Highly recommended if you remove and replace deck boards yourself! April 4, 2016 I purchased this impact driver to help remove rotted cedar deck boards and install replacement decking rather than repeating my experience one year ago, using a chisel and Vice-Grip to remove old Phillips head screws. My purchase was for the tool only and no battery was included, which was no big deal because I have other Makita 18V cordless tools. I regret not having purchased an impact driver before. It performed as promised and nearly every screw came out unchallenged. What was a long job previously was performed in a fraction of the time. Installation of the new deck boards was faster, too. You do need to use bits that are designed for use with an impact driver. And I would recommend using the longer ones that are perhaps two inches long. Great drill if you already have the batteries and charger from another Makita, save some money. March 8, 2016 I have an older model of this drill, and it worked really well. I abused it and it is still working, but not as well as when new. I am sure it was my own fault, I was using it for something that it should not be used for. I used it originally to install hurricane panels on my home in Florida. I drill all the holes in the concrete block and installed 3 inch tapcons. I did hundreds, of holes and screws with this, and it was easy as can be. Since I had the batteries from the last drill, and another Makita drill that uses the same batteries, I was happy to not have to buy a useless case, charger, or more batteries, when all I really needed was another drill. This type of impact drill is very useful, it is not exactly like hammer drill, but it does the same thing. Another Great Makita Tool January 3, 2016 Makita hasnt disappointed me much. This is built tough, had one for 4 years and lost it. Worked great up until then so Im buying another |
Four Star Reviews: | 11% Nice driver but spring brakes too often October 11, 2016 Really nice driver. The only issue I have is that the spring in the chuck that holds the attachments in brakes too often. I've replaced it 5 times in 6 months and it's a pain in the a$$. Other than that it's really nice. Four Stars March 17, 2016 Stopped working today wtf I'm starting to have issues with these dewalt guns are they making them cheaper Four Stars July 28, 2015 Not used it long, I already had the comparable model with the brushes. Works the same. Louder though. Great new product May 21, 2015 These brushless motor products from dewalt are relatively new to the market. Our dewalt tool rep has pushed these on us pretty hard commenting about how much more durable they are. We purchased one and so far it has worked out very well. My carpentry and concrete crew can tear up anything not made of solid steel and this impact gun is still in the tool box and functioning properly. We also purchased a brushless 4" angle grinder that has performed very well. Seriously powerful tool. Great supplement to the fleet of 20V DeWalt equipment. April 11, 2015 Seriously powerful tool. Great supplement to the fleet of 20V DeWalt equipment. Would buy DeWalt brushless again without hesitation. Brushless Dewalt 20V XR Impact Driver a Keeper January 24, 2014 Rugged efficient impact driver. Part of a great power tool series from Dewalt. Recommend teaming it up with a 4ah XR battery for extra run time. | 16% Strong and Durable impact December 17, 2015 Worked well for about a month then had issues with it eating up the left side brush. Ended up having to take it to Makita. Had one previous to this for about three years and went through three sets of brushes with no problems, I must have just gotten a lemon on this one. |
Three Star Reviews: | 1% | 3% Description said "battery included" Did not receive a battery with this ? February 15, 2016 Description : Part Number ,XDT04Z, Item Weight 2.5 pounds, Product Dimensions 9 x 4 x 6 inches, Origin Japan, Item model number XDT04Z, Batteries 1 Lithium ion batteries required. (included) , Power Source battery-powered , Voltage 18 volts, Item Package Quantity 1 Don't be asleep at the wheel like I was! September 22, 2015 This thing cost me close to $300 in the end. I had to come back to buy batteries and a charger. It's pictured without the battery but I didn't catch that and it's not explicitly stated in the description of the item. I was pretty irked when I realized the true price of this item. |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Forward/reverse button broke a few months after purchase. Ive ... December 29, 2016 Forward/reverse button broke a few months after purchase. Ive been using similar drills for ten years now and this was the first to break and not be excessive use from me. Not sure but maybe they went with cheaper production Too powerful for most uses - lacks control February 25, 2016 I have used impact drivers before, but not one with a 1/4" hex drive that is this powerful. It is too powerful to be of much use for anything other than heavy construction. I got this impact driver a few days ago with the intention of using it for carpentry such as framing, etc. The instructions have a note NOT to use in the variable speed range for extended periods or damage to the driver will occur. After driving about 3 screws successfully I thought I was getting the hang of starting slow then going full speed to finish driving the screws. On the next screw, this driver snapped the screw like a piece of dry spaghetti. And I was using Square Drive Deck Screws 305 Stainless Steel Bugle Head Type 17 Point - #12 x 3" Qty-25. These are very strong, large screws, and it's not practical to use a drill/driver, an impact driver is virtually a necessity. But this driver is too powerful, and lacks control of torque with its speed control. I may try the newer Dewalt, DCF887B, it has 3 speeds. Hope it's better. January 5, 2015 Had a wobble. When I started using the driver I thought the bit was bent, but the chuck was the problem. I returned it for another. Hope it's better. | |

Awesome suction
I owned both vacuums. The Makita is lighter, easier to use, the battery does not keep popping out like in the Dyson (I hated having to keep hitting the battery and restart the vacuum) and the suction is comparable. I will have to buy the carpet nozzle to figure out the pet hair issue (the floor nozzle does not do a good job with pet hair). Dyson picks up the pet hair very well.Iva01545
