Lightweight bottles easier to store
November 3, 2016
Nice lightweight bottle for brewing your own beer.
Wish caps were designed differently, without the safety ring and with ability to remove the seal and replace instead of buying new caps.
They claim can reuse them numerous times, doesn't specify, but that would rely on whomever capped or drank them not over tightening them or keeping the caps, so remind consumers to be gentle with the caps and to collect them for you.
so I have found that these bottles are good when I want to drink more beer or re-cap ...
March 30, 2016
Initially, I thought that I would prefer using all glass bottles. After trying this set of bottles for a couple batches that don't require a long conditioning period (2 wks or less), I decided to order an additional box. I do use glass bottles for larger (5 gallon) batches of beer. I don't always want to drink the equivalent of 2 x 12oz beers, so I have found that these bottles are good when I want to drink more beer or re-cap it and put it in the fridge for the next day. Held half of bottle of beer for a day and there was still a good level of carbonation. I can't speak about the long term storage potential of these bottles. I have used glass bottles for beers that take 2 months or more to condition. On one batch, I used one PET bottle and the rest glass bottles. The PET bottle was great to get an idea when the beer had carbonated as it firmed up and I could tell simply by squeezing. I also like the pockets at the bottom that provide a place for the yeast to settle and sit during the pour, if I am careful.
Great for Bottling Ginger Beer
September 30, 2015
I used these to make homemade ginger beer. I chose to buy PET bottles rather than using glass flip-top bottles due to the hazard of explosions. I found that these bottles were of an excellent quality suited for the purpose.
I allowed the ginger beer to ferment naturally over two days. It was easy for me to determine when the carbonation was appropriate since the bottles were easy to squeeze at first, but became gradually more firm over the two days. During that time, the bottles remained well sealed and contained the carbonation well.
I would recommend these bottles for homemade ginger beer bottling, since they were affordable and easy to use.
or should I say won't create a bottle bomb like a standard over carbonated glass bottle
March 10, 2015
These PET bottles from Mr. Beer are the bomb, or should I say won't create a bottle bomb like a standard over carbonated glass bottle. If over carbed, they just swell up more. In fact, that's only one reason I prefer these economical bottles for some brews. The other reason goes hand in hand, literally. As your carbonation builds, these bottles slowly become harder so you know when your beverage is ready to go. The Amber color keeps light at bay, so you're less likely to have skunked beer. And they're completely reusable! Worried about longevity? Don't. People have reported keeping beers stored in them for a year's time and still having carbonation. They may not look as classy but if you're like me and enjoy pouring your beer into a frosty pint glass anyway, this is no bother. Much safer to transport as well.
Great for beginner fermenter!

I bought these bottles to use for second fermenting water kefir, and they work great! Whenever the pressure builds up too high, the bottom pops out and the get a little roly-poly but that's better than exploding. Since I'm a newbie to brewing, I'll wait to use glass bottles once I have more experience! I love these bottles, just bought another box because I'm branching out into ginger beer plant fermentation, and Jun tea fermentation, too. They come in a nice heavy box perfect for storing the unused bottles in, too!

Good quality bottles for making soda
July 25, 2017
Decent quality bottles. No issues with making my first batch of homemade ginger ale with a homegrown bug. The caps made a tight seal and worked well for soda making.
Pointless Labels
March 9, 2017
Bought these for bottling home fermented kombucha. They're great, but I do wish the labels were blank. They served no purpose to me pre-printed with "Mr. Beer" on them, so they just went in the trash.
Box O Beer
January 26, 2017
740ml PET, the bottles are good, have ordered them before. Only complaint is the box they now come in. They are now loosely packed on their sides in a lightweight box. The "old" box, like in the product picture, is a decent weight cardboard and can be used to pack and handle a case of filled bottles while bottle conditioning and transporting.

Feb-17, looks like they updated the product picture.
I like them...
August 21, 2016
These are great bottles that are easy to use and not as heavy as the grolsch style glass ones I was using before. They are also a full pint which is the only size for real beer folks IMO. I am not a fan of Mr Beer brew kits but the bottles are good.
They're Bottles
January 31, 2013
I've used them once; they work well w/ the Mr. Beer kit I got for Xmas. They hold the amount of beer that the Mr. Beer kit produces. The caps screw on tightly and after the first use, they screwed back on tightly again. The caps are sturdy and I believe they can be used quite a few times. The bottles aren't as thick as I'd expected, but I'm guessing that's because, as described in the Mr. Beer instructions, when the bottles become very hard, the carbonation process is complete. I found that to be true, & if the plastic was much thicker, the bottle would be pretty hard to begin with.

I think they're a lot more expensive than they should be, but they are exactly as described/pictured and do the job they were designed for well.

Don't be fooled by the "Deluxe Bottling System" thing - what you're buying is bottles & caps. The description makes that clear. In my opinion, it's more than a little misleading to call this item a "Deluxe System" but the description is accurate.

The box is sturdy & is useful for storing the beer during the carbonation phase. I think if proper care is exercised it will hold up to repeated usage. If you don't mind the price, I would recommend these.

The description threw me for a loop. I thought I was getting the whole kit......no it was only the bottles! But still a great buy!
it looks like you have a bottle that's previously been opened
January 17, 2016
It gets the job done in a minimalist, unremarkable way. These are standard 12oz plastic bottles with plastic caps. Yes, they're reusable, but the problem with the caps is that they have those safety seal things, so when you open them the first time the cap breaks off the ring. And every use after that, it looks like you have a bottle that's previously been opened. Which, I mean technically it has been previously opened...so why use those safety seals at all?
If you're not a first time home brewer, invest in a bottling kit or pick up some swing-tops.

Good service and good packaging - however a little expensive for a box full of PET plastic. This is a good idea for someone doing their very first batch of brew who doesn't want to invest in glass bottles or run the risk of making a "carbonation bomb". It's important to note that I do NOT feel these bottles are re-usable for carbonation as after the first use the seals will be broken. The plastic bottles are also sure to upset your beer snob friends.

Bottles caps are usable once and then the locking tab ...
April 6, 2017
Bottles caps are usable once and then the locking tab is separated. Without the tab you don't get a tight seal on the bottle. I haven't been able to find bottle caps sold separately from the bottles. Bottles are reusable but really need a lot more bottle caps.

One of the two packages arrived without any bottle caps inside...

Now trying to figure out where to get more bottle caps from in order to bottle a batch...

Quite inconvenient...

The beer I made from the same batch in plastic was night and day different versus glass. I would bottle with glass if you can
No good caps
February 12, 2014
Overall, these were what I was looking for for making my own sodas. It's a box of dark plastic bottles with caps. And therein the problem lies. As mentioned by others, they are the security type caps that have a ring that breaks off when you unscrew the cap. meaning that not only are they seemingly intended to NOT be reusable, but you also have to deal with the ring stuck on the neck of the bottle. Not a big deal, but annoying.

Came with 16 bottles, but only 8 caps. Completely dissatisfied with Mr. Beer overall
Ruined my beer.
November 1, 2014
The bottles left an aftertaste which ruined the awesome flavor we developed in the beer. Also, the bottles shape was deformed once the beer was placed in them with the sugar. Not worth it.
i do NOT recommend
April 2, 2014
The bottle bulge at the bottom with the pressure from the inside making them unstable and unable to stand straight. I'd get some glass ones or find some used soda bottles
