| Second one I've gotten...October 8, 2017 The first matt I bought for work. I liked it so I bought one for my home. My nephew thought it would be nice for the garage and working on his bike. It's holding up well after 8 months. Comfortable, Durable, But Shows DirtAugust 17, 2017 This mat is durable and comfortable, and I use it daily in my office. I can stand for 8+ hours on the mat (with shoes on), and end up with only slight fatigue in my feet. However, it's not perfect: it shows stains very visibly. If you work in an environment where you can accumulate dirt, water, salt, or other materials on your shoes, make sure you wipe them off before standing on the mat. Otherwise, your mat will be covered with very visible dirty streaks. The surface is rubbery, so it's easy to clean the mat--but if you don't, you will be standing in a visible mat.However, other than the cleaning issues, I recommend this mat to anyone who needs to stand for long periods of time. Like most commenters, I too recently switched to a stand up desk - I started out using just a plain kitchen mat - man, my feet hurt SOOO bad after a couple hours. I knew I had to get something better quality. Several blogs recommended this mat and with the good reviews, I bought it. The mat I received did NOT have any odor whatsoever like some others have said - and I'm sensitive to odors! It feels nice and squishy and I don't tire out as easily. I still feel like I have to wear shoes on the mat for extra support and my feet still get a little sore after a 6-8 hour day of standing but not nearly as bad with the cheap mat I was using. | Moves like it's got somewhere to go (On a Rug)March 10, 2017 Okay, so I want to love this! I really do. It's comfy, appears very durable, and, has a nice clean look to it. That said... It's just FAR too slippery to be of any use to me. I'm constantly having to pull it back from pushing forward into the desk. If I were on a Smooth floor (Wood / Concrete / Etc.) maybe it would grip better? But on a rug, it's just not going to cut it. ;? I stand on my feet at work (either barefooted or in my socks). I've never used a comfort mat before, so initially my feet felt wonderful... for about an hour or two... after that they started getting fatigued and feeling discomfort and I started shifting my weight from one foot to the other. It may be just a personal preference but I found that a softer mat (such as a thick green Sportsmith gym/yoga mat) works much, much better and costs much, much less. Uncomfortable / Too Hard, especiallybarefootApril 4, 2016 TL; DR: I wanted to love this mat, but it's just too hard on the feet to be of real value.I primarily use this mat on a carpeted surface, with bare feet. Even under such conditions, my feet often hurt after only a few hours, to the point that even when I sit down, they still ache and hurt for quite some time after. It feels like my feet are bruised after using this mat longer than a few hours. It's just too hard and uncomfortable for me.That said it is a quality mat, made from quality materials. Mine did not have an odor like some reported, and mine showed no signs of curling. I took off a star for the price/value, and two stars for the comfort (the comfort is pretty integral to an anti-fatigue mat).I gave it some time thinking maybe I just needed to adjust to having a standing desk, but it's been a few months and it still hurts to use this mat. If I could return or exchange it for a more comfortable mat, I would, but I'm now outside the return window. Toxic smellJuly 21, 2016 I got the large mat that was on sale on Prime Day. When I took it out of the box I noticed that it had a strong chemical smell but it seemed like that was only if I had my nose close to it. I didn't notice the smell when it was on the floor. I thought it felt wonderful to stand on. Very comfortable. But over the next couple days I started to feel unwell in a way that was new to me. Finally this past Monday morning I was on the mat cutting up fruit and I just felt so sick that I wondered if I needed a doctor appointment. I ended up sitting with my head in my hands wondering what on earth was going on. It finally dawned on me that the one variable that was new was the mat, and that I felt worst when I was in the kitchen with it. I boxed it back up and it's in the hall waiting to be returned, and I have noticed several times now that when I walk past the box, even though it's completely taped shut, I get a whiff of that awful smell. Since boxing it up and airing out the kitchen I have felt fine with no return of symptoms. I would not call the mat I got "nontoxic." I had a Nantucket that went flat in 10 months so Amazon refunded me so I thought the pro version would last longer.It's certainly more solid and much thicker than the Nantucket, but the issue is its too firm and I find only my heels sink, leaving me feeling off balance and with strained calves. Anyway Amazon thankfully are covering the return costs, which is great as I live in the UK. I have another Nantucket now so maybe I'll just have to buy a new one every 10 months | |
