Works great, I am close enough to my local channels I didn't need amplification. Cord cutting phase 1 complete, now to select and implement a streaming service, and I will have achieved my objective of not paying any money to CNN, NFL, MSNBC, and the rest of the sewage I am currently paying to have pumped into my home.Cord-cutting is a no-brainer, given the cost of my "cable TV" package. More than a hundred channels, almost entirely either anti-male / politicized garbage or really bad quality programming. Implementing a streaming service and buying this antenna will save me more than $50 / month. And it was not I who injected politics into everything, but soon I won't be financially supporting my political enemies. FWIW, I called my cable provider and asked them to offer me a package which did not include CNN; they do not have such a package. ALL of their packages include CNN.The cable TV providers are accustomed to being able to shove this package thing down our throats. They are living in the old paradigm. So be it.
Great Antenna
February 12, 2017
So far so good. I have bought a few indoor antennas and this seems to work the best. I like that it has its own stand. You do however after find the best position. I live in a condo in Los Angeles with buildings around me. The signal strength seems good I can get channels 2, 4, 5 clearly. I couldn't get 7, 9, 11, and 13 but now I can receive them.
Love it! It actually works great

Love it! It actually works great, and it was about the positioning of it. I moved it a few times and picked up more stations by doing that. I now get 15 channels where I used to get 7. And, on the upside it doesn't look terrible. I placed it in a corner by a window. I had bought one of those that look ridiculous, and just couldn't stand looking at it any longer.
Suits my needs well after some trial and error

I've been using this antenna for almost a year, having ditched cable TV. What a didn't fully appreciate when I first bought it is that there is almost a science to the whole antenna-use thing. Where you live in relation to the broadcast towers, the topography of the area, and the placement of the antenna in your home are HUGE factors, among several others.I initially placed this antenna in my living room very close to my TV and facing the general direction of the towers, and I had all sorts of problems -- missing stations, interference from people walking by, interference from stationary objects nearby (like a metal DVD rack) ... I would even find that the positioning of the antenna a centimeter here or there could make a huge difference, so accidental bumping led to a frustrating time of re-positioning for optimal signal strength. The use of the amplifier only made things WORSE, not better. Then, after living with this arrangement for several months, I decided on a whim to stick the antenna in the attic, face it in the direction of the broadcast towers, and attach it to the TV via the existing (and unused) cable TV line. PRESTO!! It has worked great ever since!I should note that I live in a major metro area and that the topography of the area is flat. That has a lot to do with why this antenna is working so well for me now. I'm sure that the shielding benefits of the high-quality cable TV line are helping also.Bottom line: there is nothing wrong with this antenna. But it doesn't mean that it's the right antenna for you.
A Great Choice Instead of Cable TV Service
March 20, 2014
Due to our community HOA terminated the cable TV contract with Comcast, therefore, we consider to purchase an antennas to try if if it works. My husband searched online and consulted with his friends, and he asked me to pruchase this product. When received this item, the installation is not difficult, but you have to be very patient to read the instruction manual coming with the product. We did not set it up right the first time, and read the manual again, and installed it successfully. In the beginning, we don't expect that we can see many TV channels through this antennas, however, we do have more-than-expected TV channels later on. We don't care that we don't have popular cable TV channels, e.g. HBO, Food Network, CNN, ESPN etc., because we still can have other great alternations, especially the internet has so much fun to enjoy. The only thing we need to do is just to connect the TV and computer. This product outlook is gorgeour and simple. It does not look not good when we put it besides the small windown platform. Furthmore, it worth spending one-time to watch TV in all future years. I will say that it is a good-buy.If you can stand the "no signal" appears on your TV (it hardly happens, though), this product is really a gerat choice to replace of cable TV service. It saves your money out-of-your-pocket every month.
Portable, Dynamic, and Gets an Excellent Signal
June 22, 2013
We have satellite at our house, but our satellite provider does not carry all of the channels that are available for free over the air. And so, while I was shopping around for an antenna to get some of those channels, I came across this. After doing some painstaking research, this product was looking better and better. Needless to say, I bought the item, and these are the attributes I like most about it.Every antenna I have ever bought in the past (even though they were analog) went back to the store because they grossly underperformed. It has been years since I bought an antenna, and so, even with digital TV, I was a little skeptical. Setting it up where I wanted it to go served no issue whatsoever. I plugged in the antenna, positioned it with the help of the converter box, and found the ideal position. The picture is comparable to that of satellite, and I am really impressed. Not only can I watch the channels I want to watch, but I can also record any program with the best of quality. And I'm sure that with every other model (the ones that capture signals from over 65 miles), it only gets better. This is a product I highly recommend.

I bought this item at a reduced rate for a honest opinion. I'm not sure what channels I'm suppose to get but the one's I do get, that are local, are pretty clear. You need to adjust it for some channels but over all its good when the cable goes out.
Easily Picked Up 8 Channels
September 29, 2015
Like so many other people I had it with cable and satellite television. Either way I went I was spending 50-100 a month on it. That is in addition to an internet connection. Since we live in the city I thought we might as well try an indoor antenna. I hooked this up and did a quick autoscan and it picked up 8 channels. I was expecting to get more since many of the stations are HD in our area. We ended up receiving 3 shopping channels, KUBO ( A PBS TYPE STATION), ION, ION Life, FOX, and some country music station. Sadly, ABC, NBC, and CBS were missing from the lineup. All the stations come in crystal clear with the exception of FOX. You have to have the antenna perfectly aligned. While it may not be the most beautiful of things it will pick up stations and save you some money. There are many good guides available online which will show you what type of antenna you will need to pick up HDTV stations in your area. For the most part I am pleased, I figure I will get a more powerful antenna and see what that does.I understand that my review may not answer all of your questions. So feel free to leave a comment below and I will do my best to get back to you. This antenna is my only source of input so I am extremely happy with that
September 29, 2015
I currently have three of these units in use that I have purchased over the past three plus years. This purchase was for a relative who finally took my advice after trying several more expensive units three times the cost of this one. They went from receiving 27 digital channels to 42 digital channels after for going cable on a seldom watched tv unit. In my case, I get 47 digital channels. This antenna is my only source of input so I am extremely happy with that. The one time cost of the antenna is well worth the price verses a monthly cable bill. These antennas are extremely easy to use. Plug antenna cord into antenna jack on tv, plug transformer into an electrical outlet, turn power on and adjust antenna. Amplified antennas do require electricity to operate.Individual results vary based upon many factors such as location to tv stations and placement of antenna. I have noticed that the higher you place the antenna unit the better the results. However, placement is limited to the length of the two cords. Also, placing the antenna closer to windows helps reception.I was also told, it's a common misconception to open the antenna arms as wide and as long as possible. The goal is actually to receive the signal with the arms length and width as small as possible for a more direct signal. In my experiences, I do get a better picture this way. This product was received either at no or low cost for review, inspection and testing purposes. No compensation for a positive review was provided. All of my reviews are based 100% off of my experience with the and I never guarantee a positive review. Please remember to vote below. If you choose to vote unhelpful, please comment with how I can improve my review. Thanks for reading!
Outperformed our more expensive unit - A good value for the money!
September 17, 2015
The design of the antenna is compact. The rabbit ears are short compared to other antenna we've purchased in the past. The reflecting plate seems flimsy, but it is not subject to a lot of motion so it probably will be okay. This is not an amplified unit, yet on my first pass through every broadcast channel that we receive, it performed as well as, or better than, our amplified antenna. Two of the stations with the (other) amplified antenna received them but it said it was a weak signal. With this antenna, none of the stations were flagged as having a weak signal. It was connected to an analog TV through a digital converter box, as was the other antenna (the amplified one). We are going to experiment with it on our public television stations and watch more programming with it before attempting to record programs. Picture clarity on all the stations was good, and it found all of our local stations easily. My initial impression is that I really like it! It performs at least as well as a $29.95 unit that draws current to operate. So it saves electricity, too! I did receive a discounted price on this item in exchange for a review, but my significant other did all the testing for the review without knowing anything about the price.

Nice antenna
August 19, 2016
I was surprised at how many channels this antenna found. Impressive. One down side however is the stand. It is loose and very unstable. The antenna can be difficult to stand up because the base does not attach or clip to it.
Fantastic as long as 40 mile away stations' towers have enough power
March 6, 2014
I just switched to DirecTV because Charter Cable going to digital. We have an unusual living arrangment owning a small house right across the driveway from a larger house. With two separate electric meters, one for each house, we can't have one cable account now (digital boxes know they are coming from two separate houses - I even tested this theory with an electric extension cord, but can't leave an extension cord stretched over the driveway permanently) even though electric is two accounts mailed to same address with one owner. Anyway, I was looking for over the air (OTA) solutions for the bigger house secondary TVs which were not hooked up with DirecTV.Along with a Zenith DTT900 DTV converter box (for analog TV), I was pretty impressed.Once I figured out the weird screws, and that they were screws that screw into each other, and which direction to place them in the stand, I was fairly successful. The antenna comes with a separate electric (plugged into the wall) amplifier. You might need an extra coaxial cable or two because of that, if you need it at all.Without the Amp, I was able to receive 16 channels, most are high-powered with their tower 40 miles away from Surf City, NC (a few stations with all their sub-channels):WWAYCWRETROWECTBOUNCEWSFX (FOX WILMINGTON)THIS-TVIONQUBOION-LIFESHOPQVCHSNUNC-TVUNC-KDUNC-EXWith the Amp, at highest 20 (db?) power, and with a new converter box scan I was able to somewhat pick up WTMV and its 2 sub-channels, 29-1, 29-2, and 29-3. It was VERY scrambled, and then I tried messing around with the placement of the antenna, and subsequent converter box scans couldn't pick that station up anymore. I'm not sure if this is a low power station in Wilmington, and the info I gathered was that it's part of a network based somewhere else.Wish I could get some of the Eastern NC stations towards the north for their news channels, but overall I'm very impressed that a desktop antenna can perform that well. Unfortunately, our CBS affiliate (WILM) is a very low-powered station only 35 miles away towards Wilmington and that was impossible to tune in. Someday I might purchase a very strong multi-directional antenna from the same company and place it in the attic space for WILM and those Eastern NC stations.
I love this and it saves me a ton of money
March 4, 2014
I purchased two of these as my cable company broke my TV. I do not have that high monthly cable bill any more. I was able to plug and auto search for channels in my area (jacksonville florida). And I have several channels (including local) and its all free. So if you are trying to save money or just really do alot of things besides watch TV this is a Great antenna. It plugs in and if you have a decent TV you will have a clear reception for at least 10-18 channels depending where your towers are. They have instructions to search for the tower in your area and you just point it at the tower. I love it for the price and value.
antenna on its own not bad about 26 channels received

for a new smart tv this antenna may pick up a lot more channels. however I do NOT HAVE A SMART TV. So I purchased a government box call INSIGNIA and with the help of this box and this antenna I received many more channels, clearer than clear tv...because if you walk in front of a clear tv antenna it gets off sync. I also purchased a Mohu...only good on certain days and you have to constantly change its position. with CLEARSTREAM...very little movement required, its truly the best antenna, its a bit BIG BUT ...can be hidden on its side behind the TV...WORKS GREAT! not given a five because to get more channels I had to purchase INSIGNIA to get many more channels
works but read my comments

i live in the middle of new york city.antenna placement is an art.the different placement can mean the difference between receiving 30 and 70 channels.though one could argue that since most of the channels are garbage that difference mightnot be that important. not sure what the vhf/uhf hd channels are. all i was really concerned aboutwas getting PBS. this required me to place the antenna outside on my terrace. it is protectedfrom direct exposure but how the antenna will hold up in more direct contact with the atmosphere isanyone's guess. the amplification unit is of course inside. and you have to make sure that any cableextensions have their connections protected from the elements.....electrical tape or other adhesive waterproofing.signals are not always stable. that is the nature of broadcast. alot has to do with the locationof the transmitter, the weather, buildings and the placement of the antenna. this is much thesame i understand with exterior antennas of all stripes. if you are expecting cable tv stability guess again.over the air is free. you get what you pay for.whatever you get i suggest that an antenna like this one that has amplification might pull in signalsbetter. i know that a similar 'leaf' type antenna with amplification from radioshack which was less moneycould not pull in PBS but i never tried an outside placement.be prepared to try it out and return it if it does not work for you. every time to add or subtract amplification(they suggest trying it out w/o amplification at first..supposedly degrades the signal quality) or move theantenna you have to 'rescan' the channels on your tv....this took for me 10 minutes (the tv says can take up to 50 min)so that i spent 4 1/2 hours moving and rescanning until i got what i wanted. expect the setup to take time withany antenna. the help line is useful. instructions for putting it together were not explicit enough.
Exceeded my expectations

I have to admit that I was skeptical about this product having used an Amplified DTV rabbit ear antenna in the past. With the amplified rabbit ears, I only managed to get 6 stations. The max distance on the rabbit ear antenna was listed as 30 miles. I live approximately 30.2 miles from the TV towers so I should have gotten more channels than just six. After researching indoor antennas, I came across this Antennas Direct ClearStream antenna. I read a bunch of the reviews here, many of which were negative. I decided to take a chance on it, especially since the antenna was on sale for $7.99......how could I lose?I came home and set the thing up which is easy to do and I pointed it in the direction of the station towers and performed a channel scan. Even without an amplifier, this thing pulled in 87 channels, many of which were crystal clear, HD channels! Sure a lot of them were in different languages other than english, but I have a large amount of english language channels including most of the major local networks such as KTLA, KNBC-LA and KCBS-LA. The local channels were displaying in perfect clarity!I went a step further and configured my Home Theatre PC to use an HDHomerun TV Tuner along with XBMC installed. The HDHomerun add-on for XBMC worked even better than the scan I did with my HDTV's channel scan. With the HDHomerun add-on's channel scan, I pulled in 95 channels, even KCOP and KTTV which were unavailable before. I bought an RCA DTV amplifier and did a rescan on my HDHomerun and I got 105 channels! This time, many of the channels with somewhat average signal strength were listed with a much higher signal rating. The graphic representation of signal strength went from yellow to green.Even without the amplifier, I found this product's performance to be excellent considering my distance from the towers. Combined with an amplifier, you should be able to exceed the listed range of 25 miles by at least 10 miles easily. Keep in mind that this all depends on whether or not you have huge buildings or mountains between your home and the station towers. I live in a large apartment complex and my unit is in the interior of the complex thus, there is a barrier between me and the station towers. But that barrier could not stop this antenna from pulling in 105 channels. With the free OTA channels I get from this product, Netflix, Hulu-Plus and the XBMC application on my HTPC, I was able to cancel my DirectTV service with fear of missing out on my favorite shows. The service I was getting from DirectTV cost me $80.00 a month and was only in Standard Definition! What a rip off!!!My total monthly bill has now been reduced by $80.00 and I'll never use Cable or DirectTV for TV again! Cheers to all who have successfully "cut the cord"Great Product.

Can work for some locations. Not great in my location, but other antennas haven't been any better, so not the antennas' fault
October 2, 2015
I was debating what star rating to give this antenna and here's why:I suposed that in the area I live, there must not be much channels in the "airwaves" so should I blame the antenna? No. I also had another antenna, and I had the same results.I do get some channels, but might as well not get any, as they all, well, suck!... Again, not the antenna's fault. So, I decided to give it 4 stars, as I am able to get channels, but it is not going to be useful for me, unfortunately, maybe because my location.I purchased this product at a reduced price for review purposes.
Picture is clear but reception varies where you live.
September 13, 2015
This doesn't comes with instructions but there's a really helpful review here that showed how to connect it. But if in case you couldn't find it is.1. Hook it up to the cable spot behind your TV or wherever it is located.2. Go to settings and change the cable/antenna set up to AIR3. Do an automatic scan channel with AIR as settings.4. All of the channels available will then come out.5. EnjoyAfter following the reviewer's methodology of making it work, I was able to get 4 channels. Sadly it's all Spanish ones. I won't blame it coz we don't even get a good reception with our cellphone company where we live. Those four channels are really clear though. It does it job when it says HD channels. Hopefully we can use this when we move somewhere that has reception and save tons of money from cable companies. All in all it is a good product but better if you get a good reception. I received this product for a lower price in return for my objective and equitable review.

Works Okay But Not Great
May 12, 2015
Works pretty well in difficult enviornment. I have two of these and the one on the ground floor does quite well. The one in the basement does substantially less well. Can't get one of my locals on it no matter where I put it. This antenna is adequate, not superior, in my opinion.
Close But No Cigar
September 23, 2014
It was more our location than the product. I believe if one lived somewhere other than practically in a forest, or if the antenna didn't have to navigate so many hills, it would work great. Unfortunately not the case for us, and a professional actually tried a professional grade antenna and even IT wouldn't work for all the channels we wanted (the basics), and this antenna actually did better - but still not good enough. As all was said and done, our professional thankfully was able to put a DirecTV dish on top of a 10 ft pole to get through the trees. I would actually recommend it for many situations ... just not ours.
It's ok
June 3, 2013
With my outside antennna, I only get 3 digital channels and one over-the-air one. I bought this antenna from Amazon and hooked it up and still only get 3 digital channels and one over-the-air channel. The difference is the channels come in a lot clearer with this device and the digital images don't skip around and freeze very much. For the price, it's not bad.
Nothing special
January 28, 2013
I bought this antenna, along with a couple of others for comparison. This model is much larger, costs more and doesn't get as many stations as the small flexible window model or the telescoping (1 ft) antennae. It does not get any of the long range channels I was hoping for. In fact, it doesn't even get a station only 12 miles away, unlike the smaller, cheaper models I've tried. Disappointing.

I have seen that this product may work better if hooked up to a digital converter box
January 29, 2016
Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. At least by just hooking it up straight to my television.I did what the instructions said to do....hook it up to the "Cable In" jack behind the television, change the settings on the TV to "air" and then run a channel scan. The first TV I set it up on wouldn't scan for channels if it was set to "air"...it would keep changing it back to "Cable". Of course, not this products fault. So I moved it to my more higher tech TV in my living room. Set it up the same and ran a channel scan....nothing.Now this could be because of where I am, or where the antenna was placed within the 3' that the included coax cable would allow, but I am not giving up on it yet. I have seen that this product may work better if hooked up to a digital converter box, which I plan to purchase and try again. So for now, I give it 3 stars because of design and potential, but also because it didn't work while hooking it up without the assistance of a digital converter box.Once I install the digital converter box, I will come back and update this review. Please note that I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
but not as good as other antennas
January 22, 2016
This is just a basic antenna, nothing special. Remember rabbit ears? This is it. Seeing HDTV in the description, I though it was for the new broadcast requirements. Technically, it does work, but not as good as other antennas. The satellite dish look that this has is exactly that, a look. The plastic "dish" does nothing - it is only a decorative piece of plastic. It does say it is for FM, so if your radio needs better reception, use this for it. But, for digital TV, I would get a different antenna, one specifically designed for it. Overall, for a product I received at a deep discount, I can't complain.

Mediocre Results

Very disappointed by this antenna. I couldn't find any configuration where it could outperform a simple $10 bunny ears w/ loop antenna. The only particularly useful item is the amplifer itself. My results were basically amplified bunny ears > unamplified bunny ears = amplified Micron-XG > unamplified Micron-XG. Amplified it is able to pick up two of the 4 major single digit channels (NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS) in one room and 3 in the other, while the amplified bunny ears pick up 3 (4th detected with bunny ears only, but still unwatchable) in the one and even unamplified all 4 crisply in the other.Would not recommend.

This product did not pick up channels for me. I think I am toofar from the stations. I had to return it. I am sure it probablyworks in some areas where the stations are not more than50 miles away. It just did not bring in the availablechannels in the area. I will try another Indoor Antennathat reaches up to150 - 200 miles away. It should work better!I think maybe a converter box and range extender might help with his product as well.Amazon has a good selection.
Pick up only 8 channels. I have to adj Antenna's ear/dial/satellite to get clear signal. When I change channels, do adj again.
January 23, 2016
This antenna does scan some of local channels, but even those 20 channels, most channels’ signals does not come in clearly. (Signals comes in and out. Also pictures are pixelated)If I move Antenna’s ears, dial and/or satellite dish around, picture will come in clearly. Then, when I change the channel, I have to adjust Antenna’s ears, dial and/or satellite dish again. I live in the suburb and my house does not surround by high buildings or tall old trees. So, I don’t think anything is blocking the signal while it is searching for channels. My current Antenna (indoor Antenna that looks like outdoor antenna) pick up 50 channels and all channels comes in clearly without adjusting the antenna. It’s like I have cable service, except I don’t get the cable channels. Even though, I have no complaint about my current Antenna, it's very big and somewhat eyesore. I was hoping this Antenna can pick up channels as well as my current Antenna, so I can replace the one that I have. But, this Antenna isn't come close to what I have right now. I guess 8 channels are better than no channels, so i would keep it for my guest room.Disclaimer: I received discount coupon code for this item to check out and write my personal opinion. The Company/Seller did not influence in anyway how I rate this product. Didn't Work as Well as Our Other Antenna
September 15, 2015
My mom recently moved into a new house. We put our antenna we no longer use into her living room and we get 37 channels with that antenna. I needed to find one for her bedroom as well. *I purchased this product at a discount for an honest and unbiased review.I opened the box and there were no instructions of any kind. Luckily I do know how to set up an antenna. I plugged it into the cable spot in the back (no separate antenna plug on this tv) and I did the Auto Scan in the Menu to pull channels. Nothing came up. I turned the little know on the front as I am not sure what that is for so maybe it is to try and pull more stations. I re-ran the auto scan... NOTHING. I moved knob again and re-positioned the antenna a bit (both ears are pulled out all the way) -than re-ran again and nothing. Well poop - this is what I bought it for.Plan B:I went and unplugged the antenna in the living room and plugged this one in. I ran the auto scan and only 8 channels came up. Of those 8 - 5 of them were in and out. REALLY?? I know we can pull more that that. I again re-positioned the knob and ears, did another auto scan. Nothing more came up. I unplugged it and started to push the ears down slowly and the top part broke off. My mom couldn't believe it broke because I was going slow and was careful. It really doesn't matter because this doesn't work anyways. I re-plugged in our original antenna in her living room, ran the auto scan and all 37 channels came back up.It is frustrating when you have such high hopes for something and than don't get even close the results you were hoping for. Maybe I just have a lemon. I did give it 2 stars because it did pull up 8 channels, otherwise it would have been 1 star.

Don'r order this item

This item was worthless and useless. I am less than 30 miles from the broadcast source and this antenna picked up nothing. My cheap Philipps antenna with a little dish and rabbit ears does a better job and it cost 20 bucks. Don't waste your money on this item. I am happily sending it back, thank you Amazon.

Junk

This antenna is complete and total garbage. Please don't waste your money buy something else. This thing is make out of extremely light plastic. I do not get any channels with it. I get 12 channels by just hooking up my cable wire that I don't get cable through.I got this product for a dollar to leave my honest opinion. I am upset that I spent a buck on this thing. I can't imagine how I would have felt if I paid full price. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for something better.I would not recommend this to anyone

i regret buying this antenna. first the antenna is nothing like it looks on the picture.second it is way smaller and weighs ounces. I thought i was buying one of those early models that were heavier and better plastic. the reception is not that great. worst product i have ever bought from amazon. it,s to much trouble trying to return it. i should have bought the rca antenna instead.DON'T BUY not worth the price.
