Love this slicer
May 17, 2016
I purchased this slicer about a month ago. A few months ago I went on a low carb diet and missed my pasta. This looked like the answer to my problem. Both me and my wife love veggies and were very curious if this little gadget would work. Low and behold, it works great. We've used it on zucchini, carrots, cucumbers and pickles so far. I was very surprised that the zucchini texture stayed crisp and did not fall apart being this thin. It was just like eating spaghetti and the zucchini will absorb the tastes of a variety of sauces. We use this slicer on a daily basis and the e-books are loaded with great recipes. Try adding spiralized pickles to your salads, fantastic. So easy to clean and stores anywhere. Love this slicer and look forward to experimenting with new recipes. Thanks mKitchen.
I love this thing

I love this thing! It is great for making veggie noodles. The only issue is that it is hard to make noodles at the end of the vegetable, but I just cut the zucchini or whatever into disks and toss it in with the pasta. Perfect for the price.
Great!

I bought my mKitchen spiralizer on a whim as I was driving across the country and after having raw noodles at a raw shop in Tampa, FL, I was so impressed with the noodles that I bought mine right then and there. It’s funny how really useful kitchen gadgets catch on and for me, anything which even threatens to save time in the kitchen and help me cook healthy meals is a must have. This mkithcen spiralizer was delivered quickly, and it came in a nice box with instructions on how to use it printed on the box. It also included a free peeler, which was a nice little treat. Pros: • It was very fast to get out and set up • The spiralizer works like a pencil sharpener, each side has a different size blade, one larger and one smaller to yield a thicker or thinner noodle. It makes long noodles, but perfect ones come with practice. • Easy to clean. You can either hand wash or put in the dishwasher. It comes with a little brush to help you get at any bits Cons: • The blades are protected from unwary fingers, but you still need to take care when the vegetables get slippery as they inevitably do. A bit of kitchen paper to hold them with works better than the prongs provided. The left over veggie bits, cone shaped, can be tossed in the freezer ready for a winter soup or making stock. Overall, I love it! It is really quick to deploy on the veg, clean and return to the cupboard in minutes with no fuss and that in itself is a time saver. Though there are obviously risks using it, if you’re a careful cook and confident your wet hands won’t slip, I have to say this spiralizer is a brilliant idea and every keen cook should have one in their kitchen. I will recommend it to all my friends for sure.
This product works awesome for zucchini and carrots
February 27, 2016
This product works awesome for zucchini and carrots. The strands come out like noodles and are very easy to add to pasta or eat on their own. I personally like to add them to pasta so that my body thinks it is eating carbs and is getting a helping of veggies at the same time, but they are definitely good enough strands to be on their own for you that are more dedicated to eating your vegetables. Cucumbers were a bit harder to do, as the seeds and mushy center would clog up the blades, however I made a great salad with cucumber noodles and cabbage with some vinegar, sesame oil and seasonings. I read some other reviews and saw that people had struggled with this and potatoes, but I haven't tried potatoes with this product yet. If I do, I will let you all know! Overall, I am very satisfied and will continue to use this.
Very Healthy Bargain!
February 26, 2016
You can pay the much higher price for a bigger gadget or you can be smart and grab one of these. It is easier to store anywhere because of the size and does the dame job as the much higher priced, bigger ones. It is not complicated to use and best of all it helps you turn veggies in to the perfect pasta replacement ( no it doesn't taste like pasta but the difference is pleasantly surprising) If you are like me and trying to diet and eat better overall this is a must. You will be surprised how replacing different meal items with a spiraled veggie looks nicer, tastes good and makes you feel better after you eat a plateful!Wish I had known about this sooner as I would have bought a bunch of them as stocking stuffers! I will next Christmas!
Now I can finally make some great, HEALTHY meals
December 28, 2015
Now I can finally make some great, HEALTHY meals! This item is very easy to clean and use. One side is for slicing thinner "noodles" and the other for larger. You use it as if the vegetable was a pencil and you are sharpening it. There is a cap that sits on the end of the vegetable which helps to hold it in place. If you want the perfect zucchini noodles - this IS your answer!

BEST THING EVER. SMOOTH. EFFORTLESS. SUCTION CUPS WORK PERFECTLY.
September 13, 2016
I am a raw vegan and shredding zucchini has been such a pain. It eats up all my time and i often cut my fingers. However, with this, i can be done and sitting down to eat a yummy dinner in less than 20 minutes, including wash time.I was surprised by how smooth and easy to operate it was.I was scared that i would constantly have to realign the zucchini, but u never have to.I was most surprised by the suction cups. I didn't think they would do much but wow they work perfectly. Don't hold down on the spiralizer with the hand that is not turning the crank. You do not need to. The suction cups hold it in place flawlessly. To release the suction cups, just kinda lift up a little corner of the cup and it will come off easy peasy. If you try and just pull, you won't be able to get it off very easily and risk damaging your spiralizer.
Great Spiralizer
May 28, 2016
FANTASTIC! The only negative is the directions. HINT: when placing vegetables in chamber, don't press them against the end with the teeth. Rather place the center of veggies onto the opposite end against the small central nub. That nub is what centers the zucchini or other food to make long curls. Press the teeth up against the food after centering onto nub. No where in the directions does it say this. I kept pressing it into the teeth to hold it. Wrong. I had a mess. Now you know. I found out by a you tube video. It's amazing now and I use it several times a week. GREAT KITCHEN GADGET.
No more avoiding pasta recipes
March 21, 2015
I've only had this thing for four days, and I'm already in love. Reason one: It's easy and fun! Sounds dorky, but true. Reason two: You'd be surprised how delicious these dishes can be. No, they don't taste exactly like pasta, but they have their own delightful flavor. Reason three: I'm not just cutting down on processed food and gluten; I'm replacing them with veggies! It's a win-win. I can't wait to try every recipe under the sun. I've already tried zucchini, sweet potato and broccoli (you can make a delightfully subtle-tasting noodle with broccoli stalks! No more tossing that giant thing in the trash. It's like free noodles). Also, I'd strongly recommend this 4-Blade Pro instead of the 3-Blade Basic. I've used them both, and the 4-Blade is not only more solidly built and less cheap feeling, but all the components tuck away neatly for storage and take up less space than the 3-Blade. In my opinion, it's worth it.If you're trying to avoid grains, get one. If you're trying to eat more veggies, get one. If you're trying to do both, get two.
Excellent Product
January 11, 2015
This product is fantastic. Comes 99% put together and you can start using within minutes. I truly feel like this product is fool proof. Put the raw vegetable or fruit on the pronged circle, push until the other end is against the silver metal piece, and begin spinning. Just make sure the feet are suctioned to the counter so it doesn't move. There is very little waste and such easy clean up! I really can't say enough positive things.
Spirooli, Oh Spirooli...
May 4, 2011
Spirooli, Oh Spirooli. You are the best kitchen gadget (pertaining to hard cell-walled vegetables) of all time. No joke. Here are some tips to blatantly counteract the previous less than favorable reviews and complaints about your stellar awesomeness:1-"Waaaa- It stains too easily" Um...yeah...if you make delicious curly sweet potato fries and go watch CMT for the rest of the afternoon of course the natural dyes are going to stain the device. It's plastic for goodness sake. Clean the tines with a toothbrush and some baking soda within a reasonable timeframe and you will be relatively stain free & much more sanitary.2-"Booo-The suction cups on the feet dont work" Stop lying-they totally do. My question to you sherlock, do you have the totally rad spirooli on a non-porous surface? Go ahead and check it out. Do ya? I bet you dont! Because my little guy sticks to my counter like no one's business.3-"Bleeehhh-Its hard to clean" Whoa. Im guessing that you dont have knives in your house either--for they must also be hard to clean. Respect the blades, and no one gets hurt. (...That's What Edward Scissorhands Said) Use the toothbrush or grab your vegetable cleaning brush. Ew-you dont have a vegetable cleaning brush? how did you scrub yr potato?4-"Weeeeeeep- Its cheap plastic" Dude- if this thing were made of metal, it would be at least $200. Do you have that available in yr disposable income for the luxury of making vegetable spaghetti? Neither do I. We should be thankful the thing isn't made of cardboard for the low low price of 3 Hamiltons. Disclaimer: I would gladly pay two bills for an adamantium spirooli.5-"OMG! there is a 3/4" core that I HAVE to waste?!?" Just because there is a byproduct of the mounds and mounds of luscious ribbons doesnt mean that you absolutely have to automatically toss it into the compost heap. Instead, I think you should: use the cores for dipping in delicious dip or freeze them to make a yummy vegetable stock in the near future or slice them with a vegetable peeler and then cut them into similar(be it smaller)ribbons or cut them into chips and play poker or give them to the local wildlife. The possibilities are endless. Also, some people have barred carrots because of the 'waste'. My suggestion is to go to your local quality proprietor of carrots and pick up a mama-jama sized carrots. Just today, I was in Whole Foods and I saw carrots the size of a cucumbers. One last thing- do yourself a favor and get a dehydrator to go with this. You will be grateful you did.*If you liked this review, be sure to check out all my other reviews on Amazon. I assure you, most are fairly entertaining.*
I bought it to make curly fries!
February 27, 2011
I wanted to make my own curly fries. This vegetable slicer does that! I used the 1/4" blade and found that you must use the pressure handle on the unit to produce the best cuts. You do end up with a vegetable core which some people have complained on other reviews that it ends up being waste, but that really was not a big deal to me. I tried cutting up and frying the cores, but I didn't like them so now I just throw the cores away. It's very little waste anyway. I did find that smaller potatoes produced tighter spirals, but the smaller size also produced a lot "waste" where there were just short curved shaves of potato. Larger potatoes produced fewer of the tight spirals and much more of the swooping long spirals, but they also produced less "waste". Using a combination of large and small potatoes produced a good mix of curly fries for me. I fried them in the deep fryer, shook some sea salt on them, and they were YUMMY!Based on some other reviews, I tried making "zucchini spaghetti", using the 1/8" blade. I found a recipe online at steamykitchen.com where you basically BRIEFLY stir-fry the zucchini noodles and add sauce. The spiral slicer produces very long zucchini spaghetti "noodles" and I did find them to be somewhat difficult to bite off while eating (so just cut them short before cooking) but it really did produce a delicious, low-cal meal! The extra blades store within the unit, and it's very easy to change them out. Just rinse to clean, and do it sooner rather than later to minimize staining of the white plastic. I paid $29.99 for this slicer and I am very happy with it!

Does not make them as thick or circular shaped as noodles but does come out good.

Product is somewhat cheap but worth the price. Does not make them as thick or circular shaped as noodles but does come out good.
Works for the price
May 25, 2017
The peeler came broken but for $5 I guess I can't expect much else. The spiralizer also works well for being $5. Haven't tried changing blades or anything yet. Only used for zuchinni so far.
Good product but missing e-book
November 23, 2015
This product works great. It was smaller than I expected but then again, to be fair, I didn't check size specifications on the item before purchasing. It was very easy to use and I had no issues making "zoodles" for the first time. Clean up was so easy and the product is dishwasher safe (I put it on the top rack). The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I have not received any emails regarding the e-book that was supposed to come with this purchase. Hopefully I will soon, I received the item about 4 days ago.
I loved using it to make zucchini the other day
October 3, 2015
Got here really fast. I loved using it to make zucchini the other day. It was delicious. On the downside, the gripper to push the veggie into the spiral slicer doesn't work. The other thing you should know before buying is that the whole veggie will not feed into the spiral slicer. If you are OK with that, you will love this. I only gave it a 4 star rating because it can't spiral slice the whole vegetable and the gripper tool doesn't work at all. If you want a new way to create dynamic dishes, this is definitely it.
not soft) to get the best results.

Does what it says it will do. The zucchini needs to be the right size, and fresh (hard, not soft) to get the best results.
Makes veggie noodles a breeze
June 16, 2015
Super impressed with this tool. Honestly, for the price, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I went in with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. I've made noodles with carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, and cucumber within minutes. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and makes veggie noodles something that can be done on the fly in minimal time. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I thought the lid would allow me to push and twist that last little piece in, which it doesn't. I'm actually not really sure why the lid is needed. Not a big deal, though. Just chop up the small piece that's left, and throw it in.

Awesome little kitchen tool
July 1, 2017
Initially I ordered the Veggi Bullet...but wow, that was a disappointment out of the box. I couldn't believe how many pieces it had. With limited storage, I knew I had made an error. Not only that, the plastic in the bowl broke off into the spiralized product straight away! I could have eaten that! Back it went. I then saw this little beauty. It looked as if it did exactly what I needed with a smaller footprint and easy to store blade cartridges. It was exactly as advertised. It was so easy to use and understand. The blades are sharp (so be careful!) and get the job done beautifully. As long as you aren't feeding a platoon, this slicer should get the job done for you quite nicely without having a loud motor, or having to rely on electricity to use it. The unit has suction gripper feet so it stays in place as you spiralize your veggies. Cleaning is a breeze. As with all kitchen tools... cleaning (at least rinsing well) directly after use provides a super easy clean up. There are 3 blades. One sits in the unit ready to go and the other two click in to their holder within the base. No more looking all over for parts. What I personally like best.... the key to cooking great meals is consistency. This device makes all my zucchini uniform in size so my meals come out perfectly cooked each time without fail. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and have. This has become one of my favorite tools in the kitchen.
Great Spiralizer; Needs Hand Pressure from other hand to Force Vegetable onto Blade
June 12, 2017
I love this spiralizer and use it 4-6 times a week. It has helped me feed my "pasta" habit by using zucchini instead of semolina. Spiralizes zucchini really well, but leaves some waste in the blade and the core (where one end of the zucchini is attached) comes out in one piece; I cut it into sections to make macaroni-like pieces. It's easy to clean. The blades are easy to switch by pulling out the blade section from the spiralizer and replacing it with another which stores under the unit. The main thing I don't like about this model is the horizontal position of the vegetable: it makes it more difficult to slice a vegetable if you have any kind of hand disability. Why? You have to add pressure with one hand on a handle to force the vegetable onto the blade since the vegetable is sliced in a horizontal position. Obviously, the pressure you have to apply is different depending upon how soft the vegetable is. Carrots and broccoli can be difficult to slice. I have a hand disability in both hands which makes this difficult for me to do if not nearly impossible to add pressure to the blade in a horizontal position because your hand has to stay low into order to be able to turn the lever on the slicer. My solution: Rest the spiralizer on its side with the handle at the top, press down and let the spirals fall into a microwaveable casserole I place in the sink. Works fine this way.May consider trying the Mueller Spiral-Ultra which cuts vegetables as they sit vertically, but for now I'm sticking with the Paderno.
Pretty good but has a couple problem areas
March 2, 2017
The set up is easy and it worked great for making zucchini spaghetti noodles. Overall, I'm happy with it considering it is an inexpensive device.Problem areas:1. The suction cups on the bottom didn't hold very well when I was using it.2. It is a little bulky so storage isn't easy. I think there is a version that folds up but I'm not sure I would try that one because it might not be as sturdy when using it.
First Use--impressed!
July 10, 2016
Recently bought this and for the first use we chose a recipe requiring sweet potato spaghetti noodles. Prior to using I found a great video on YouTube showing the techniques and some good tips. Got the slicer set up and the potatoes prepped and gave it a shot. It made very quick work of two pounds of taters and very nice, long noodles. Slicer stayed firmly in place with the suction cups and the mechanisms felt pretty solid. Just my first use but I was very pleased with the performance. Of course, the blades are very.sharp so take great care when cleaning.
"I always think if you cook once, it should feed you twice."--Curtis Stone
February 5, 2016
That goes double for spiralizing. If you want to work more vegetables into your diet, a spiralizer is an absolute must, and setting aside one or two days a week to prep your veggies will improve your diet tremendously. This Paderno Tri-Blade is one of several spiralizers I own, and it is decent. Below are some details for those of you on the hunt:A while back I decided to buy a spiralizer and began looking through the options on Amazon. It quickly became clear that nearly every brand had dozens and sometimes hundreds of fake five-star reviews posted on their respective pages. Through other reviewers I learned that the world of vegetable spiralizers is notorious for this problem, Why spiralizers, of all things? No idea, it's really weird. I also noticed that many of the posted reviews for different brands were from people, mostly bloggers, who received their spiralizer directly from the brand for free or almost free in exchange for reviewing it. In the end I bought this Paderno Spiral Vegetable Slicer, because it was the best-seller and I felt I really couldn't fully rely on the reviews for any of the options. I got my Paderno and used it for a while, and it's fine, though not the best I've ever used (more on that in a moment). We'll break up the review by dividing the various considerations into different vegetable categories, including a lot of things I'd wish I'd known before I bought the Paderno. Here we go:BROCCOLI STALKS: My favorite vegetable by far to spiralize. I am not a zucchini fan, and of course even clumsily-made spiralizers usually have no issues with zucchinis, as they are soft-ish and watery. The harder vegetables separate the contenders from the also-rans, in my opinion, so we'll start there. The Paderno does a fairly good job with the stalks, but the lack of any kind of catcher for the noodles does drive me crazy. I usually end up placing a sheet of foil below the unit and scooping up my noodles that way (see photo).PREPARATION SUGGESTION: Use the "Thin Spiral" blade to spiralize 2 large stalks per person you will be feeding. Pan-fry the resulting noodles in olive oil, blitz (or mix) some spaghetti sauce, pre-cooked sausage or meat-substitute, and a handful cilantro together, pour over noodles. Eat a heaping plateful and don't feel sick afterward like you probably would eating that much pasta.BUTTERNUT SQUASH: One of the big complaints people have about spiralizers is the power of the suction cups, a vital component when you're spiralizing hard veggies like butternut squash. The Paderno cups are okay. The surface (granite, in my case) needs to be clean and very dry, with no grooves or dips. The cups stick to a degree but the unit does slide slowly as you spiralize. With hard veggies, you have to hold the small handle at the base (pulling the vegetable snug to the blade) while turning the crank at the same time. Unless you are unusually gifted you do not have a third arm to also hold the unit to the counter. I would say the Paderno suction cups, three months into thrice-weekly use, barely get a passing grade. They stick but they slide. I will update when they give up entirely.PREPARATION SUGGESTION: Get a long, lean butternut squash with a small base. Cut base off where bulb starts, then trim skin off the long squash neck. Spiralize neck with "Thick Spiral" blade, then blitz noodles in food processor until they resemble grains of rice. Stir-fry in olive oil with a fajita spice mix folded in. Serve in bowl with protein of your choice. Watch your family eat it like it's their job.SWEET POTATOES: We spiralize sweet potatoes using any blade we happen to already be using, then stir-fry them with Coconut Secret Coconut Aminos Teriyaki Sauce (a life-saver if you can't have soy and love to stir-fry). I highly recommend washing the blades and unit off immediately after spiralizing to A) make clean up easy instead of ghastly and B) prevent staining. I am a leave-it-until-tomorrow kind of cook but your really don't want vegetable bits to dry out on your unit and make your life miserable. If you wash it right away clean-up takes just seconds. My current favorite spiralizer is this one: Farberware Pro Spiraletti Spiral Vegetable Slicer with Three Blades. It has two big advantages over the Paderno: There is a chute to catch your spirals and the blades are color-coded, so we can find the right one instantly. I've included some pics of the Paderno and Faberware side by side, so the difference can be seen clearly, and also the similarities. The blade sharpness and strength was pretty much the same on both products, as was the length. The color-coded blades, the chute on the front, and the better suction cups on the Faberware are the major differences that affected performance. In conclusion, not the very best spiralizer, but serviceable. I prefer the Faberware, but if for some reason you do not want that one, this is a good second choice. Recommended with the above reservations and rating:GRADE: B/B-
Do you want veggie noodles? This is the thing to make em.
August 2, 2015
This slicer does a good job making noodle and ribbon shapes from firm veggies. Zucchini, cucumbers, potatoes all work pretty well in it, and it comes with different shaped blades for creating different textures of "noodle." If you have a nice symmetrical chunk of veggie, it really rips through it and you can do a lot in a very short time. Much more efficient than using a vegetable peeler. All the parts can be immersed for cleaning. The main limitation is that it only works well with veggies of a certain size - can't be too long or too wide, and since there's a "core" left unsliced, you will not get much utility using it with thin zukes or cukes. The core is perfectly edible, it's not "waste," but it's not what you're trying to get. Also, you do need to be careful when changing the blades - they are incredibly sharp and it's not difficult to slip your grip on the glossy plastic and cut yourself.

I would recommend that you get a hand crank spriral slicer
June 26, 2017
I think this is ok for the price, but if you plan on making vegetable noodles more than occasionally, I would recommend that you get a hand crank spriral slicer. There seems to be some of the zuchinni wasted, because as you get toward the last third, the cap sits flush against the plastic and won't allow you to place any more pressure and get any more noodles. Clean up wasn't bad. Just know that this is very entry level, which is fine if you just want to see if you like zoodles. On a more positive note, the peeler that comes with it works very well and is a nice bonus.
I will utilize this spiral slicer just want free e-book as stated!!
May 12, 2017
So far the spiral slicer working great. Only disappointment is package did not include ebook or decent directions to get. I was told to check messages & I can not find. I am trying to contact either mkitchen or Amazon on how to retrieve this! Any suggestions ?
Could be better.
August 15, 2016
I had hoped for something a bit better. It does work well if I have the right sized vegetables. I was surprised at how much is wasted and doesn't go thru the cutter. The lid that you are supposed to use to to hold the vegetables when they get to short doesn't grip at all and just turns without twisting the vegetables and Jair shreds them.
Pay more for something easier to use.
February 25, 2016
It does what it says, for the most part, and for the price. It spiralizes about half your zucchini before it becomes impossible. If you could utilize even most of your food, I'd be happier. It jams up with food some as you go and you have to stop and scrape it out. Additionally, the spikes that hold the steady end eventually mush up the vegetable and make it impossible to hold any longer, wasting even more vegetable. Having to press down as hard as you must to get the blades to cut causes a lot of softening and liquid release, just exacerbating the problem. I will spend more and get something that is easier to use, because the spiralized vegetable are a thing of beauty. Maybe Kitchenaid has an attachment...
Does the job, but not very comfortable
December 21, 2015
I got what I wanted: a veggie spiralizer. However it is extremely uncomfortable to hold. If you're spiralizing more than 2 zucchini's you're going to be quiet uncomfortable. Also the lid that should pierce the end of the veggie allowing you to continue spiralizing merely shreds the top of a zucchini and doesn't help turning at all. So you are left with a good chunk at the end that you can't safely spiral, which is annoying. Still, love the fact that I can make spiral noodles that are beautiful and healthy.

Would have liked to see stainless steel there
April 8, 2017
Quickly received, however I did not take in consideration that my wooden counters would not be able to use suction cups. So it's a two person job to do this here. Very likely that I won't use this much and get another one that is well made. You do get what you paid for, so I am not that surprised.I find this to be rather flimsily made, the plastic is not "hard plastic" it moves and bends trying to work a carrot through the channel. The spikes on the push piece are made of plastic. Would have liked to see stainless steel there. I am a professional chef of over 30 years and have worked with many appliances. Should have stuck with mostly solid stainless, even if it's more cost. You can't beat it and it lasts for years.
Too much effort for result
March 22, 2017
I find it easier to just chop the vegetables up or julienne by hand than use the paderno. By the time I set it up and the effort needed to push the vegetables through to cut I have it done with a lot less mess by hand. The arthritis in my hands is also getting in the way of having the right pressure and turning power needed to push the vegetables through. I have tried it with carrots, cabbage, and cucumber. I have not tried making spaghetti noodles from squash yet but can see how this would be helpful if I made it on a regular basis. I don't think my review would change if I bought another brand as I have looked at many and this one is rated very well.It is a personal thing with deciding it is not worth the effort for the results.
Not worth the $.
April 6, 2016
While this does a decent job of making noodles from veggies, I was really surprised upon opening it about how cheap it is! It is made of very light plastic and the handle feels as if it could break off at any time. The core of every vegetable is taken out, whether you want it to be or not and it definitely doesn't work on harder veggies. I will use it until it breaks, as I spent $30 on it (which it isn't worth) but I wouldn't purchase it again.
NOT STURDY WHEN FULLY ASSEMBLED; SPIRALS ARE FLAT, NOT ROUND, IN SHAPE
December 2, 2015
Rather surprised at all the glowing reviews of this product. Wondering if some of them are not paid reviews?I purchased this in an effort to eat more vegetables and replace some pasta with zucchini and squash. Somewhat underwhelmed by its performance.Somehow, after watching video after video, I thought the shape of the "spirals" would be round, probably because of the numerous descriptions and references alluding to angel hair and spaghetti pasta shapes. But they are flat, like fettucine, rather than round. Also, so far I cannot get nice long spirals like the videos show ~ instead I get short curved pieces. Maybe that will improve with practice. Not sure how much I want to practice, though. Not overly fond of kitchen gadgets that come with a learning curve!A bigger user issue is that the spiralizer is not particularly sturdy when assembled. In the interest, I suppose, of keeping it compact, the manufacturers created half a dozen pieces you have to assemble in order to use it. Fair enough, once you figure it out (does not come with assembly instructions). But the fit of the various pieces is somewhat loose and a bit sloppy, so that the handle falls off whenever you aren't actively pushing and turning it. The suction cups work reasonably well to keep it stable but invariably at some point during the process they slip and the whole thing slides. I've tried both dry suction and also wiping the cups with a damp rag before pressing down on them (which works better), but they still loosen at least once per vegetable. The blades seem sharp enough, but you do need to use a bit of force when pressing the vegetables into the blades. Just turning the handle does not work well. And I find I have to keep one hand pressing down on the base if I don't want it to move while I'm spiralizing, stopping every few turns to clear a place on the plate for the spirals to fall. This machine works best for three-handed people. Haven't decided yet if I will return it or not.
Works quite well, but bulky and messy to clean up
August 24, 2015
This is a pretty good spiralizer, and I like that it makes 3 sizes (thin "spaghetti", thicker "linguine", and full width). It is easy to operate, and it has minimal waste compared to other products I have used. I have used it on zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, and even radishes - all with ease. It should be noted that you need a pretty thick carrot to make spirals, as this generates a core (although not a thick as other units).I do NOT find it easy to clean (I don't understand how others do find it easy), In my mind, anything that requires me to scrub every nook and cranny (including between blades) with a brush does NOT get an "easy" rating. Also, it does not break down for storage (it is quite bulky). Tiny bits of food get caught in the blades and in the spiral mechanism. Yes...you can throw the whole thing in the dishwasher, which is what I do, but if I don't brush it well, it often comes out of my dishwasher with dried bits of food still on it (FWIW, I have the high-end GE Profile Stainless Steel dishwasher). I also found that putting it in the dishwasher in any position other than upright results in a lot of water capture (ie; you have to dump out trapped water and air dry it when removing it from the dishwasher). None of these are major issues, but overall it results in an "Okay" rating from my perspective. I kind of wish I had spent the extra money and purchased the KitchenAid spiralizer attachment, which is a lower profile, made of stainless steel instead of plastic, and peels as well as spiralizing. Of course, that unit is also 3 times the price of this one.
Paderno 4-Blade Spiralizer
March 8, 2015
I have been using the 4-Blade Spiralizer for about a month now and I must say I still much MUCH prefer the 3-Blade version. Unfortunately I sold my old one, which I regret every time I use my spiralizer, which is three, four times a week. In theory it is a clever design, folds to a smaller size, than the 3-blade, but in reality it is is lot flimsier. The parts don't seem to fit well together. The lid? (I don't know what to call it, it is the piece that the crank is attached to) sometimes lifts up and it takes some doing to re-click it. The suction cups should be wet before pressing down to hold. I bought it mostly for the angel hair disk, which works fine on hard vegetables, but don't try it with zucchini. Ali Maffucci the Inspiralized blogger just came out with her own version of this tool (unfortunately too late for me); I would wait for the reviews on that one. (The 3 blade Paderno is definitely a 5 star.

Inexpensive, and that is a great indication of the quality. If you want to try out Zoodles for your family it worked ok, 'did the job' you could say. If you want one that you can use weekely this is not it.
Zucchini works the best. Carrots can be a bit of a challenge
September 24, 2016
Zucchini works the best. Carrots can be a bit of a challenge. I don't use the lid, doesn't work better than my hand alone. Overall, it's ok to have. Don't use it as much as is like because I don't eat zucchini everyday.
Not great
June 9, 2016
Not impressed with this gadget. It is not that easy to use once you get down about 2/3 of the way on a zucchini. Plus, it does not seem very safe at all. My hand has slipped several times and comes very close to catching my finger on the blade. I will be getting a Paderno.

It works but kind of hard to use...very difficult to spiral the entire vegetables once there is only a inch or two left.
You get what you pay for -- not much!!
February 25, 2016
Save your $10 and invest in a real kitchen tool that can spiralize without the hassle. The funnel clogs constantly and has to be cleared. The lid is no help at all as a "feeder" device, and you are left with a good-sized stub of carrot, squash or whatever. Great concept, shoddy execution. No way was this ever a $39 item!!
Dollar Store quality
January 13, 2016
I was very excited when I bought this slicer, especially with all the positive reviews. When I received it, my first thought was 'Wow! The box is tiny!' And the slicer itself is small and very flimsy. It's not easy to use and results in a lot of waste. It hasn't broken but while using it, I was constantly worried that it will snap at any moment. Also, be very careful while handling it because it's very easy to cut yourself. The pictures of the product make you think you can slice any vegetable. I would not even attempt something harder like a carrot or potato or it might break since even while cutting softer zucchini and cucumber, it just bends under pressure. Definitely doesn't save time. It's not even worth the $11 that I paid for it - really it is a dollar store quality. Do not bother, it really is better to pay more for better quality....if there is such a thing.

I'm not eating zoodles every night like I thought I would be....
November 6, 2017
I really wanted to love this and pictured myself eating zoodles everything once I got it. I think this is hard to get and stay suctioned to my laminate countertop. I think it's hard to crank when you have something firm in it like sweet potato. The few times I used it, I couldn't get my sweet potatoes to cook up right and ended up with burned on the outside and raw in the middle of my sweet potato spirals. I don't love cleaning this thing either.

May 29, 2017
to hard to use, the spiral food goes every where once it comes thru blade, the whole thing is just awkward to use, the vegetable has to press against a tiny metal spike near the blade to stay stable. I purchased based off other reviews and expected too much i suppose.
poor design for cleanup
March 27, 2017
just used this paderno spiralizer for the first time. the instructions weren't the best. i spiralized a cucumber which is supposedly okay to use. however, it was a big mess. the juices ran everywhere including inside certain areas of the unit that you can't get to, which makes it impossible to clean. the spiralizing itself was relatively easy. if cleaning were easier, i would definitely be keeping it; sadly, it's not, so this is being returned.
Prong Wheel and Crank Handle Stripped!
March 7, 2017
I've been happily using this spiralizer for almost 2 years now, mostly for spiralizing zucchini or an occasional butternut squash, with pretty good results. I guess I really tested this product when I tried to spiralize a rutabaga for the first time. It was next to impossible to get the plastic spikes on the prong wheel to pierce this vegetable. When I finally did, the crank handle started spinning independently of the prong wheel. The prong wheel would not spin because the crank handle is now stripped. I guess the rutabaga was asking way too much of this spiralizer. Paderno sells replacement parts, but it would cost me a minimum of $10 to replace just the crank handle and there is not guarantee it wouldn't break again, so I am trying my luck with another brand of spiralizer.
Not worth the effort.
June 22, 2016
It's very difficult to use-even with the suction cup pads that keep it stuck to the counter. The little prongs on the handle slip out of the food constantly and in order to get uniformly sliced pieces, you've got to press really hard and try to move it forward while turning the handle. We've used it a few times but it's not worth the effort. It's also messy and it's miserable to clean up. Even though the blades come off, most of the vegetable residue gets all over the main unit-the one part that doesn't dissemble. So in order to clean it, I've got to take all of the blades out of the storage section and hose the entire thing off. It's easier to simply slice veggies with a knife.
Too much cleanup
February 10, 2016
I was actually surprised I didn't like this, because I was so excited for it! It's a lot of effort to clean up from it, because it has a lot of little crevices inside and the juice from the veggies drips down inside. Even after a lot of cleaning I feel like it will become a breeding ground for bacteria. I have the simple hand held version of this and (despite it requiring a little elbow grease), I think it works better. In this case, less is more.

Don't waste your money. it made a huge mess because the carrots kept coming out of the big hole.

I was very disappointed when I tried to use this...just wasn't working right and I found it to be too cumbersome..and just put it in storage..I should have sent it back..just didn't..not worth it!
This is the worst product ever
May 3, 2016
This is the worst product ever. Not only doesn't it work but it took so much time to clean it so I can return it. Most misleading description. Barely worked on a potato let only a squash. Got inch slices at best as if I used a peeler.

Very disappointed and wasted $8.00. Not that easy to use either. Will not replace this when it breaks. It appears to have really cheap plastic parts.

An accident in the making - Save your fingers
August 7, 2017
This gadget is a serious health hazard in your kitchen.Yes I know it comes with all kinds of warningsHowever the blades are really sharp and very much exposed. The mechanism is very poorly designed. Not only is it an issue when you cut but also later on. Veggies get stuck in the blade and you have to take them out by hand.In addition there's only storage for 2 blades not 3, so 1 blade always remains open and available to cut your finger tips. Also I tried cutting celery and carrots and it did a very inefficient job.A unit like this needs to have its blades totally covered.Buyer beware
Just not effective...
February 15, 2017
Just no effective...I don't know where those great reviews are coming from unless those folks are only using zucchini. Tried for quite a while to spiralize a carrot and all I got were little c-shaped chunks, unattractive and not what I wanted. Watched a youtube video and the seasoned user doing the video got the same sort of chunks using a sweet potato but seemed to want me to think that was the desired results...nope, want spirals. The suction cups do not stay attached to the counter by a long shot. I already have a mandolin to slice things thing so this is just not a useful addition if it's not going to spiralize. Was really hoping to like it.
Tons of potential, but not there yet.
August 2, 2015
Really wanted to rate this at 5 stars, but after 6 months of periodic use (2-3 times a week), it's basically broken. Anything harder than a zucchini squash jams the blades, and the spinner where you 'mount' the veggies has lost its traction. If this were made with metal, or in such a way you could tighten it, it might be okay, but as its a plastic cooking utensil, you'll only get low mileage out of it, which feels like a waste of $30 when its all said and done. Great concept, poor durability and therefore value.UPDATED PHOTO: Found the culprit; cheap plastic and thread connection has apparently had multiple breaks inside the crank mechanism. This explains why this device will, in time, break and lose grip on anything solid.
The plastic literally CRUMBLED to pieces!
April 12, 2015
I purchased this thing just over 1 year ago, which is unfortunate because apparently there is a 1 year warranty. In the last year I have used it roughly 5 times, hand washed it, and stored it in my pantry with my other kitchen appliances. I was really excited today because I found a new recipe that required spiraled zucchini. I took this thing out, stuck it to the counter, attached the zucchini, and the plastic handle literally CRUMBLED off in my hands. I stood there stunned, then went to remove the zucchini and the piece holding the spiked part on crumbled in half as well.

I made the mistake of not testing this product as soon as I received it. Being very busy with life in general, the slicer sat in my closet for 3 months until I decided to try to make spiral eggplant. The slicer jammed after about a third of the eggplant was sliced and then would only spin around not producing the noodle-like product i had hoped.
Was soooooooooo excited for this... but a huge let down.
October 3, 2014
Was uber flimsy... the "french fry" attachment was a joke! It was almost the same size as the spaghetti noodle attachment. Lets just way the fries came out thinner and flatter than shoe string fries. Returned! All this thing is good for is making noodles... Better off getting the veggetti instead!
