Frost-free compact fridge for rental unit
June 5, 2016
Looks good and works great. Putting in the mother-in-law suite which we'll be renting out. This was the best option for us since it is frost-free. It really hasn't been used other than to test to see that it worked. If I run into any problems I'll come back and edit my post.
works great!!

REPLACED DOMETIC RV 40"H X 22.75" X 24 WITH THIS FRIDGE...
January 30, 2016
I BOUGHT THIS FRIDGE TO REPLACE A WORN OUT 20 YEAR OLD DOMETIC RM 2510 PROPANE/ELEC. RV FRIDGE...I ONLY HAD TO CUT THE RV FRIDGE SPACE OUT 3 INCHES HIGHER AT THE TOP TO 44 INCHES HIGH AT THE TOP, TO SLIDE IT RIGHT IN. THE WIDTH AND DEPTH WERE PERFECT. IT PLUGGED IN WHERE THE OLD RV FRIDGE PLUGGED IN. IT'S FROST FREE AND HAS A BIGGER FREEZER THAN THE DOMETIC... FROST BUILD UP IN THE OLD DOMETIC FRIDGE ALWAYS MADE A MESS ON THE RV FLOOR WHEN DEFROSTING IT ALL THE TIME WITH FROST AND WATER AND MUCK ALL OVER THE FLOOR... THIS FRIDGE IS FROST FREE!!!!!!BE SURE YOUR PROPANE IS TURNED OFF BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE OLD DOMETIC FRIDGE, AND THEN CAP OFF YOUR PROPANE LINE OR REMOVE THE LINE AND PLUG IT WITH A PIPE PLUG BEFORE YOU USE YOUR PROPANE STOVE OR HEATER!!!...I'LL BE USING 2 DEEP CYCLE 12V BATTERIES AN INVERTER, AND A SOLAR PANEL TO RUN THE FRIDGE "OFF THE GRID" INSTEAD OF PROPANE NOW.

Excellent choice for kegerator conversion!
September 4, 2017
Purchased this refrigerator with the intent of converting it to a beer fridge capable of accommodating two Cornelius kegs after having done considerable research to ensure that it would be able to fit two kegs and a 5-lb CO2 cylinder with minimal modification (i.e., removal of the plastic trays on the interior of the door). Very pleased with the results of the conversion. As for the refrigerator itself, I have monitored the temperature range of which it is capable and find that this will cool all the way down to 31 degrees Fahrenheit. The circular temperature adjustment knob inside the fridge is flat with a transverse slot adjustable using a flathead screw driver or coin (while this conserves space, an actual raised knob would be easier to manipulate). The interior of the fridge is nicely lighted, and the refrigerator itself is actually lighter in weight than I would have expected when empty (not hard to move around). Note that when full (i.e., with two kegs and a CO2 cylinder) and the power turned to maximum, the fridge does tend (not surprisingly) to ice up considerably. That said, I am very pleased with this product given the purpose for which I purchased it.
Working well
June 23, 2017
After going thru 2 Avanti refrigerators that did not work, I ordered the Danby 1.7 cu. ft. unit. It arrived a couple of days ago. Plugged it in and it fired right up. As recommended, I set it to max. A couple of hours later it was registering 14 degrees. Set it back to about 3/4 and it registered 34. Filled it up and it still ended up at 34. Turned it down some more. Want it about 38 - 40. Love having no freezer which would only ice up. The only negative I can see is, that in their wisdom, read stupidity, they put the temperature control in the back of the unit instead of inside it. The unit is going on a shelf under a counter, which places the control out of reach. They indicate in their advertising that the control is mechanical. Maybe that is the reason it is in the back. Hopefully, the unit will hold its setting once I get it where I want it. If it does not hold its temperature, I will be changing this review drastically.
Perfect size for an office
August 29, 2016
This refrigerator has plenty of room. In our space, we don't need the freezer, and mini-fridges that have freezers are never that great, what's in the freezer isn't cold enough and they tend to frost things that are near them. The compartments are great, it has curves on the door shelfs so you can stick things in like cartons of milk or juice containers. The shelves are sturdy and I've got one shelf holding a 24-pack of water bottles without any problems. So far this has been a great fridge for us. I've included a picture that shows you how tall it is, when I was shopping I had no idea how tall it'd turn out.
A nice little refrigerator.
June 6, 2016
It is a nice looking little refrigerator. So far it is working very well. I bought this one without the little freezer section and I like the way it lays out. Every other brand of small refrigerators I have bought were packaged poorly and had several dents. This one is packaged very well which shows they care about their product-not a scratch.
No more defrosting the solid block of ice freezer section!
December 17, 2015
You can buy a combo unit instead, btut I wouldn't. Get this and a similar (or smaller/larger) freezer. Why?I've been through a couple of mini combo's and am here for the same reason as you: 1) The mini fridge super mini freezer section sucks. The thing on top/bottom stays half frozen, but HagenDaaz melts. And after a while, it's iced completely and the milk seems suspicious warm. So you have to defrost it. Are you going to move the whole thing out where it can defrost properly and toss the other stuff? No, you are not. You are going to give it twenty minutes, get impatient as it drips and you think of wasting a Saturday on this and then you get the butter knife. A few blows later, and you're thinking "Last time was a fluke, this time I'm doing it right!" You are thrilled with the great big chunks of ice coming out, that you will NOT have to wait on and the Saturday afternoon that seems wide open with possibilities. Then you hit it again.....Hssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss goes that familiar sound. Now you are on Amazon looking at this review, perhaps after googling what an all refrigerator was. Just get this. If you want gallons of ice cream or costco runs, get a tiny over the counter freezer, or a chest freezer (or a matching/similar undercounter like this in all freezer version) and be done with it.Now, can this be built as an undercounter model, with almost no clearance? Yes, yes it can... but it will die. The heat needs to go somewhere hence the 4" clearance in docs. But... give it an inch of clearance on all side, wind tunnel style, and DIY it up with a fan (computer fans work well, are quiet and low energy). Build it right and you'll be swapping the fan out in a few months/years instead of the cooked compressor. It's about 34" in the front, 33" in the back for you counter inch counters - slight bevel.I'll update this if it dies before March.I received not a penny's discount in exchange for my fair and honest review, so how about a helpful clicky click?
Great beer fridge
November 9, 2015
I purchased this fridge for my beer collection, and it works nearly perfectly. The top shelf holds two 64oz growlers, plus sixteen or so 12oz bottles, or a few 22oz ones. The bottom shelf doesn't hold bottles, but takes eighteen or more 16oz cans. The rear half of the middle shelf, slightly annoyingly, sits a bit high and won't accept most 12oz bottles without a bit of force. The front half of it, though, is perfect for 12oz bottles and holds fourteen or so of them. A few more can be wedged in the back if necessary, or some shorter bottles or more cans can be put back there. And of course the door is good for at least 8 cans, plus some 12 or 22oz bottles as well.More importantly, at its lowest (least cool) setting, the fridge maintains a perfect temperature of 45-50 degrees throughout, without the use of any external regulators. In light of that, as well as the sub-$200 price, I would not hesitate to recommend this fridge to anyone looking to keep some beer.

Dead At 13 Months... and Revived
October 4, 2016
This unit functioned perfectly for 13 months. Overnight the inside temp of the refrigerator went from quite cold to room temperature. Curiously the freezer is still frozen.Update: God bless YouTube! Powered off for 2 hours, and the problem is fixed. Still subtracting one star for Frigidaire's fecal tech support.Further update: The problem above occurred due to the fridge door being left ajar overnight. 2 hours off helped, but for a complete fix I had to let it defrost overnight. All in all, still a great-looking serviceable unit.

3 legs but it still cools things
September 24, 2017
It arrived with 3 legs. It works otherwise. And I know a dog named Charlie who only has three legs and he is awesome! But since adding the 4th leg to this fridge should have been less complicated than adding a 4th leg to Charlie I reached out to seller. It took an act of congress to get the 4th leg sent. I thought they were playing a joke on me by the 6th email. Each email response was comically vague, asked me for information I did not have and took about 3 days to arrive. I suspect this is what the 1980s in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics felt like.Even after I finally received said leg they still expect me to send them more information which is why I believe they are actually messing with me.I have sent unit into hiding just in case.
Great fridge, lousy manual
October 8, 2016
I love the all refrigerator, no freezer, style as mini-frig freezers are messy and don't work that well. The interior is high quality with solid, well designed door storage. The shelves are glass and fully adjustable. The bottom drawer is sturdy. I have the steel finish door which looks great. It fit exactly into the limited space, so the dimensions given are accurate. The fridge itself is a 5 star.I took one star away because the manual is a generic manual meant to cover many of the Danby fridges. The instructions for switching the side the door opens on is vague and doesn't AT ALL reflect what it takes to switch the door on this model. It is complicated and involves removing the top of the fridge to access and remove the door, and flipping it on the side to switch out the bottom hardware as well. All together there were 10 screws to remove and replace as well as the screw that adjusts one side of the fridge only (manual says there are 2 adjusting feet). I don't mind that it is complicated, it's the totally missing instructions on how to do it. Had to figure it out myself and then 3 of the screws would not screw back in place, so I had to find 3 slightly larger screws, and then it worked; if there were instructions I might not have run into this.
perfect for drinks
September 19, 2016
We have this in our garage to chill sodas and beer. I love the fact that it doesn't have a freezer since that would be a waste for what we use it for. The storage is perfect for drinks love the door area. It took a little longer to chill the first time and made me think it was broke but next morning everything was cold.
Good enough!
February 13, 2016
After a couple of weeks' use, I've decided that this was a worthwhile purchase. There are some weaknesses, mainly in the weakness of the lowest wire shelf and the design of the inside of the door. The lowest shelf flexes easily, allowing for only very light loading. The door's features include three bins and a column of angled beverage can holders, which all limit interior space in one way or another. Fortunately, they are removable, allowing enough depth for more sizable objects on the shelves. Likewise, removing that little bottom shelf allows for more utility of the stepped bottom space.
Not Bad
February 7, 2016
Bought this as a gift for my friend, he’s pretty lazy so I bought it to support his bad habits. Anyway, this fridge works great so far, I bought the insurance (optional) to compliment it as I’ve never purchased anything from this company before. He’s only had it for about a week so if anything comes up I’ll update the review. Hoping it lasts. Also the shipping company (UPS) did a good job shipping it, don’t know how it is in other areas but I recommend picking it up from the UPS office if possible, I’ve had a few mishaps in the past.

September 8, 2015
This fridge is great and I like that it does not have a freezer section. Not having a freezer section gives you a lot more room. Perfect for my office. The only complaint I have about this fridge is that even on a level floor I can't get the fridge to stop rocking back in forth. The leveling options on the bottom of the fridge simply are not that effective. The fridges looks great and will do the job. Just be prepared to shim or otherwise support one or more of the feet to achieve a balanced fridge.

September 28, 2017
well, I have not have a chance to use it since it came damage twice. I do not think it is Danby's fault because the packing is very good...double packing but from my house video camera. Looked like UPS just toss this box around and it came with big ding/dent and I had to return it both time.
Received with damaged top
June 20, 2017
The lid on top of this Danby Compact All Refrigerator gets screwed down from underneath when you open the door. All three of the attachment points were broken and none of the screws were in the box. The refrigerator was purchased to fit underneath a cabinet but if we ever want to move the refrigerator to a different location having a loose top is an issue. We are very disappointed with the purchase of this brand and most likely will never purchase this brand again. Danby DAR044A5BSLDD Compact All Refrigerator, Spotless Steel Door, 4.4 Cubic Feet
Great fridge, poor freezer. Fantastic if you just need a large mini fridge.
January 22, 2017
It's everything I asked for. It's "slightly" louder than I would have hoped. and the "freezer" doesn't really keep things frozen, but that's not what I bought it for.
Looks great, seems pretty large inside
August 19, 2016
Looks great, seems pretty large inside, but it didn't get items as cold as I hoped. Ranged around 40-45 degrees in shaded room and normal temperatures.
Good fridge with a large range of temperatures inside.
June 23, 2016
There's a lot to like about this fridge. I like that there is no freezer unit, that it came with glass shelves, and that it holds a good amount of beverages as I'm using it as a beer and soda fridge. That said, the first couple of days I used it I noticed that the first couple of drinks I pulled out of it were extremely cold, but that others were quite warm. I initially installed a refrigerator thermometer on the top shelf, and noticed that it was hovering around the mid 40s - not even safe for food.Thinking I had a defective unit, I started packing it up to return it when I noticed that two of the cans near the back on the middle shelf were light, they had frozen and burst. To do a more complete temperature test I left small bowls of water on each shelf overnight, and then tested the temperature of each with a Thermapen. This is all on the highest cold setting.Top shelf was 44.Middle shelf was 38.Lower shelf was 32 (ice formed on the water near the back of this shelf)Drawer was 40Middle of door was 41It also seems to be pretty inconsistent. The temperature will drop quite a bit before the compressor will switch on for too long, and freeze items on the lower shelf. I'm going to run some more tests to check the temperature over a long period of time.Edit: I rigged up a small fan (https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-MULTIFAN-Receiver-Playstation/dp/B00G05A2MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467222711&sr=8-1&keywords=ac+infinity) at the back of the bottom shelf to circulate the air. This has kept the entire fridge around 35 degrees, and stopped the freezing near the back of the fridge. It seems like this should be a built in feature considering the poor temperature circulation of the fridge.
Am not pleased with thermostat control
June 9, 2016
Looks very nice-is very quiet. No freezer on this exact model.not want one regardless.Am not pleased with thermostat control, any slight adjustment seems much too drastic---warmer or colder.Plan to research and install a more reliable thermostat control.Simple-yet not expected.Life is what I believe, nothing to complain about when I wake up/Live through precious life.-each day as it arrives.

April 17, 2017
I have just received and set up the refrigerator and it runs but it is too soon to comment on performance. My beef is the fact it has only one leveler which, the representative I talked to says the designers say work. It does NOT work and I so informed the representative. The right side with the leveler is level back to front but not the left side with no leveler. You can hear items jiggle inside when you walk near it. We have placed a shim under the right front leg but have not been able to get it steady. It also looks awful!
Thermostat doesn't do anything!
June 4, 2016
I have three of these and after buying the last one I decided to actually check the internal temperature. What I have found is that the thermostat really doesn't do anything. The temperature varies between 38 (rarely) and 44 degrees regardless of where I have the dial set. So I tried the same experiment with the other two units and lo and behold - the same thing: the temperature control doesn't work! We only use these as beverage coolers in the summer and we never really noticed the not-quite-cold internal temperature. I guess they are fine for keeping beers and sodas sort of cold, but DO NOT expect a nice frosty cold-one from this model (DAR044A4BDD). Also don't use it for fresh foods as they will not last long. I called Danby direct and asked what the internal temperature of my model should be when set to maximum and here's the email reply:Consumer Service <CONSUMERSERVICE@DANBY.COM> May 25 at 6:05 AMMessage bodyGood morning,Thank you for contacting Danby GroupThe coldest setting in you model is 32.8F.Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again by replying to this email or by telephone at 1-800-263-2629 to speak with a member of our Customer Service team.Regards,Diana W. | E-commerce Resolution Specialist | Danby Group. There is no way any of my 3 units get anywhere near 32.8 degrees. My guess is that the people who have given this model 4-5 stars haven't tried my experiment...
Not a Beer Frig
March 28, 2016
We purchased this refrigerator, set it up, put in the beer and waited- waited - waited for it to get cold. Called the company and they said the temperature should get to 33 degrees. Coldest it got was 40 degrees. We like COLD beer. So we exchanged it. Amazon was helpful and prompt with the exchange. Refrigerator number 2 does not get cold either. So if you want a small beer frig that keeps your beer good and cold this is not it. However, it is a very attractive looking small frig.
Horrible at keeping a solid temperature
January 20, 2016
Horrible at keeping a solid temperature. Drinks are not cold enough to be considered refreshing to me. Storing food is not even possible as the temperature never gets below 40 degrees. Open the door and it shoots past 42 degrees which is not a good environment for food. Disappointing in this purchase, and dreading taking this to the post office and shipping it out, then having to pay upfront shipping.
Doesn't get very cold.
April 21, 2015
Doesn't get very cold. This works a cooler not as a fridge. I don't know if I am doing anything wrong but I left the fridge 24 hours before plugging it in for the first time. Then I left it on medium setting for two days. The fridge didn't seem any cooler than room temperature. Then I turned to maximum cool and it only got slightly cooler. The fridge is our garage and we are on the northern west coast so the garage is relatively cool anyways.I haven't measured the temperature setting but If I had to compare it to something it feels like the open cheese coolers in the supermarket. This fridge does not have a freezer section. Our last fridge had a freezer section (that we never used) and that fridge got way colder than this unit. Ultimately I cannot recommend this fridge as it does not get very cold for my liking.

January 30, 2015
This is the second unit of this model I've purchased. I was very happy with the first for several years but sold it after a move. I bought it again for a new office. Unfortunately, it emits more noise, more frequently and more annoyingly than the first. In addition to the usual hum when it's cooling, this one also emits a constant cycle of what their customer service rep called a "gurgling sound." I'd compare it to the sound of the bubbles when a diver is recording sound underwater, or to a loud aqaurium sitting close by. According to customer service this is something new, and it's related to a new refrigerant they began using recently (my purchase was January 21, 2015.) So, it's not a defect, as such, but something that will happen with every unit they sell. I can't live with that noise in my ear nonstop two feet behind my desk. If you can place it a good distance away from where you work or regularly sit, it'll be fine. In terms of features and cooling it's a fine product--but the noise may be a big deal for you, as it is for me, if it has to be placed close to you while working.

Seal so tight it cannot be opened.
July 18, 2017
This would be a great fridge if we could open it.The seal is so good that the suction created inside the fridge prevents us from opening it. This is crazy and no one is going to believe me but you would need a crowbar to open this fridge until we realized we can squeeze our fingers into rubber accordion seal on the sides and break the seal before opening. It is a huge pain to have to do this though.
Do not waste your money on this piece of crap
May 3, 2017
This refrigerator is wobbly. I called to ask them about getting an additional leg to adjust it because the wobbling is happening on the side that does not have the adjustable leg. I was told that there was only one adjustable leg and to keep adjusting it. There is nothing that can be done to make this appliance not wobble. Do not waste your money on this piece of crap!
