Such an easy way to make a great cup of coffee. My son is going to be traveling to Costa Rica and living there for a few months. This is light to carry and can be put in a suitcase (packed with socks even :)). Then all he'd need is access to hot water and he'll be able to sample all coffees.

I've been using this Stainless Steel French Press about a month. Love it! Well made high quality product -- well worth the money -- works great -- I'm very please with the purchase. Would not hesitate to purchase again.

I put it in the dishwasher everyday and it still looks brand new. It is heavy duty and keeps your coffee hot for a very long time. The coffee grounds do not seep through the double mesh filters. I originally bought a glass one and it broke within a week, I highly recommend stainless steel if your a daily coffee drinker and will be using a lot.

Solid full size keeps coffee hot.Update: had this over a year and it is our daily coffee maker. Awesome!!!

I use it for loose tea brewing and it works great, specially for Yerba mate, as if you are familiar with it , it needs to be drank at the proper temperature and this French press it's the best for it.Also the tea usually stain the containers but not this French press because of the stainless steel and it's a breeze to clean up! Love my Secura!!!

I've been using this stainless steel Secura French Press Coffee Maker for a month now and I'm very satisfied with the overall performance of this product. In fact, the screen on this press filters out more coffee sediment than any other press I've owned which is a VERY favorable feature to me. I recently switched to a stainless steel French press from glass simply due to my falling back to sleep sometimes after making coffee, and then, waking up to an undesirably warm brew. This press is insulated and does keep the coffee hot until pressed for at least 3 hours by my measure. I haven't specifically tested it, but have woken up to hot coffee(I also prime the press with boiling water before brewing) after falling back to sleep for a few hours. I, of course, did my due diligence and settled on this particular French press on account the many good reviews, as well as, because it met my criteria.The concerns I had when I purchased this press were to do with a few things I had read about this and a few other stainless steel presses. First, I was concerned about being able to twist off the screen hardware without having to use pliers and risk marring up the plunger shaft. I did experience the plunger knob twisting off instead of the screen hardware, but simply made sure the plunger knob was twisted on tighter than the screen hardware. So far, this has worked out just fine. Similarly, I make a point not to needlessly over-tighten the screen hardware. The second concern had to do with the plunger knob apparently breaking on some units. Again, I avoid needlessly over-tightening the screen hardware or the plunger knob...I mean, it's a coffee maker! How tight does the hardware REALLY need to be to make good coffee? Thirdly, I read that water had gotten trapped in the lid and would not come out. On purpose, I only hand wash this press, but even so, I've had occasions when rinsing the lid where water has gotten down into the lid (no big deal). Again, this is a coffee press. There is no need for engineered precision or tolerances. On that note, the hole in the lid where the plunger shaft slides through has enough room to allow for trapped water to easily drain out (see picture). I suppose it's possible other units may have had less room between the plunger shaft and lid preventing water from draining, but mine drains fine. Lastly, I had concerns about internal body rust and faulty welds where the handle attaches to the body. I've only had my press for a month, but I do my humanly best to take care of it. It gets used EVERY day and sometimes twice per day. Sometimes it gets rinsed out right away, and sometimes the grounds sit in it over night until I rinse it out the next day to make more coffee. So far, this press is a champ, and is my absolute favorite press of all the ones I've ever owned.

This is perfect for cold brew coffee. I make Sun Tea all the time... put tea bags into a nice glass container and let the sun do its deed. But I've developed a taste for ice coffee. I was just using my leftover drip.. but thought I'd try this. I put about 1/2 cup of regular coffee grounds in this. Add water to about 1 inch from top. put the top on (do not plunge yet) and let sit out in the sun for about 4 hours. Then I plunge it. I pour it into another glass container and put in fridge ( I guess you could just put this in fridge, but I think if you left grounds in, it might get bitter.) It's ready to drink right away or it stays good in fridge for a couple of days. LOVE this.. great size to do full pot and good quality plunger.. not grinds get through.

My first french press! I've only used it 3 times so far but it's worked well! I have put my keurig and Drip coffee maker in storage. I usually fill it about half full in the mornings before work and it makes a good 2 cups of coffee. I've served friends and family with this and they are amazed at the taste. It can turn any coffee into gourmet tasting.

First time user so I was pleasantly surprised at how well this thing works. Good hot coffee with no grounds in the bottom of my cup (that was the thing I was most looking for on my first trial run.) I have yet to grind beans so simply threw some scoops of Folgers pre-ground in the pot and poured in water that had been run through my Bunn. The Bunn appears to get the water to a perfect temperature for brewing in the press.I like strong coffee (or thought I did till I read some of the reviews here) but have yet to use the prescribed/recommended one scoop to every 4 ounces or even 6 ounces of water. I saw just a little foaming action with this first brew, likely due to the coffee not being fresh ground beans.So I am only on the fringe of using this brewer to it's full potential. Yet, I am very pleased with it's initial performance and am looking forward to venturing into to the not yet channeled waters (for me) of real coffee drinkers.

Like all French Presses this thing is pretty simple. That said, Bodum has done a good job of perfecting this kitchen staple and Bodum has a reputation for quality kitchen products. Cleaning is easy. The screen in the press comes apart to remove stubborn coffee grinds, which is pretty standard but still nice. My only complaint is that the lid cannot be turned/twisted to keep heat from escaping via the holes around the spout. However that's not much of a problem since you're probably going to want your coffee to cool down a bit first anyway. This is smaller and won't hold enough coffee for more than 1 or 2 people. Also judge the amount of grinds you put in yourself, the directions call for too much I think. 5 stars.

I usually make my coffee middle eastern style in a little copper pot, but with company coming over I needed something that will make a few cups at a time and I hate drip coffee machines. The Bodum makes pretty good coffee, just make sure you give the water enough time to mix with the grinds.**The beaker is of good quality polymer that feels like glass but behaves like plastic. About boiling water: it says not to pour it in, but who's gonna stand by their electric kettle and wait for the water to be "just hot not boiling"...? So, after the kettle boils, just let the water settle for a minute so it's not bubbling over and then pour. The beaker can handle it. I've poured it that way half a dozen times and no problems.**Coffee grinds: I use the regular already-ground coffee and none of the grinds get stuck in the mesh. Rinsing it out gets ride of them. Certainly, if you have the products for many years (may it last that long) some grinds will get stuck over time. But there's no need to seek out specially "large grind" beans.**I was concerned that the beaker wouldn't hold the heat, but the coffee is still HOT after 20 mins. So, if you leave the water with the coffee for about 5-7 mins (it says 4, but I recommend a little longer for more flavour) you'll have a good half hour before the coffee becomes undrinkably lukewarm.The beaker has safety info on the back that is drawn permanently and doesn't come off.It makes about 3 cups of coffee, by American standards.I don't own a dishwasher, so can't comment on how well the beaker holds up in the machine. But if you treat it like any breakable stoneware mug and just be careful, it'll hold up just fine.

After chipping several glass French presses over the years while washing them, I ordered this all metal press. The same simple process of traditional presses but much less fragile. The aluminum also keeps the coffee hot a bit longer.

The French press is built with good material. Very easy to use. You put the ground coffee in and add water. Put the lid on and wait for 7-8 minutes before you press the plunge down. I would suggest the manufacturer to add measurement lines for water on the inside of the pot. Right now, one has to guess how much water to put in. (I guess you can also measure with another cup and pour the water in. )

I been drinking French press a long time. I bought two of these in the last year. Gifting them to family. Stainless steel a must in my book forget the glass ones. Durable SSteel impressive look function and use. Keeps the coffee hot clean up a breeze either sink or dishwasher safe. I've had glass ones which will break no matter how careful u r.. Great everyday use and price is competitive when comparing Stainless steel units.

Seems like a good quality French Press. I have made half a dozen pots of coffee with it so far. No metallic taste like some "stainless" carafes give to acidic drinks like coffee. Easy to clean, solid construction. Will keep a pot of coffee hot/warm for an hour or so. Apparently some of these come with brushed stainless exterior, and others with polished. Ours is polished, and the only drawback, is it shows finger prints and smudges clearly.

It's a great value for a French press this size. It works well and it's easy enough to clean, although I had trouble unscrewing the filter parts the first time out of the box. They were screwed so tightly! I had to look up a video on how to disassemble and clean this French press in order just to figure out where things unscrewed. It's easy to operate and it brews well. It also looks good; I like the bright red plastic and glass. My only issue is that I see some grinds that get caught at the bottom between the glass carafe and the red plastic "exoskeleton". I don't put this through any strenuous use so not sure how the grinds end up there.

This is a great french press! Our roommate broke it about three months after we got it (dropped it on a concret floor from about 4 feet up, didn't stand a chance) and bought us the same brand, bigger version. Bodum seems to know what they're doing with coffee makers. Very easy to clean, durable. This was our first french press and it was a great one, we simply upgraded to a bigger version because we host people frequently and need more than 3 cups at a time.

The only thing I don't like about this French press is the lack of any marks on the glass to indicate measurement. You either have to guess how much water to add or use your own measuring cup to figure out how much water to add. I typically brew 3 or 4 cups (unless I need more for a visitor) so it took some time to get a feel for how far to fill it without having to measure my water. Altogether, this press only holds 8 cups of water. Since my mugs hold a typical 1.5 cups, this press doesn't make enough coffee for a breakfast party.The filtration is excellent and it is easy to disassemble for cleaning. I run all the parts through my dishwasher.

I've gone through a great many coffee makers of various sorts in my day. I'm also a barista so I like to think I know what I'm doing at least sometimes. This guy is probably the best French press I've used. I was excited to see it for less than $25 because everywhere I've looked they're 30 at least, which I just wasn't willing to pay.This press is lightweight while still managing to feel durable, it's very well constructed. The press fits perfectly into the pot almost creating a seal. Its also got an additional strainer section to pour from which seems great for people that are concerned about getting grounds in their coffee. Its also fairly forgiving in terms of grind. My last frenchie couldn't handle even a moderately fine grind, this one can, so to me that's a bonus until I save up all my tips for a proper burr grinder.Anyway, this is a great press, well worth the asking price! I highly recommend it

This is a new item for me. I've wanted to try one for a while and this is the one I decided on due to reviews and product description.I used it today to make a cup of coffee. I was a bit overwhelmed at first with it. It seemed too simple to use and fragile at the same time.I used hot water (not boiling) as instructed and it made a terrific cup of coffee. I wasn't disappointed. However, I had to microwave the cup of coffee to make it hotter, as it wasn't hot enough made in the press. Next time, I'm going to heat water in a pot and put into the press. Sort of defeats the purpose, though doesn't it? I'll use it again and update my review if necessary. In my humble opinion, I don't think this is better or worse than a cup of coffee from a percolator or coffee maker.

This press is nice quality. Thicker glass, strong plastic, sturdy filter. 1 cup of coffee is 4oz but the average mug is 8oz. This will make about six (6) 8oz mugs.My dislikes: The handle hangs over the beaker which requires you to angle the filter as you place it in the beaker awkwardly. The handle is tough to unhook from the beaker. Once unhooked the beaker is so tight in the base I can't remove it. Water collects in the base which could cause mold if not dried timely. The filter scrapes against the glass during removal and is like nails on a chalk board. The beaker may dribble when pouring a large batch. It's usually fine with a smaller batch.My cons are not deal breakers. The press is overall really nice. I would def buy again or recommend it to a friend. Great for large batches. If you only need a press for small batches and my cons make you wary, look elsewhere.

This is my first French press and does the job. The glass one's are def prettier, but this seems more durable.My press is defective- it doesn't come apart like it's supposed to. It is suppposed to unscrew to allow for cleaning and to change the filter screen.

Very nice looking metal modum. Broke far too many glass ones before going metal! The filter size is the same as the typical glass bodum so I ended up using that filter because it has a snugger fit to the walls (it's curved more than the ones that came with the Secura model -- though they were fine too, but let in a little more sediment).

For the most part, this met expectations. However there is a little imperfection around the rim of the pot. While it doesn't affect how it works, it does distract from the look and I question how this unit ever passed quality control.

Construction is of good quality and keeps coffee hot for about an hour. The lid is a bit too small. It needs to be deeper and slightly larger with the inside circumference to achieve a better seal and keep heat in longer. Overall, I am well pleased with the style and functionality of this press.

In the last three years since I've discovered this french press, I've been through four replacements. I LOVE this french press - it gets the job done and is a good price. I like that the lid has the "grated" pour spout and the filter components are high quality. However, I'm only rating this product three stars because of the glass beaker, which breaks very easily. My beakers have broken from trying to remove the plastic cage for cleaning, from having a plate bump into one, and two have broken simply from falling over in the sink. To buy a replacement beaker costs just as much as the french press itself. After the last press broke, I moved to a different brand, Primula, which I found at Macy's. It doesn't filter out all the grounds but boy, does the glass hold up!I would buy this product again if the quality/thickness of the glass was improved, or if the price of the replacement beaker was lowered.Thank you.

I love it BUT.... I have purchased 4 over the last 3 years. The reason is the glass beaker. Each one of them has broken. I learned to be very careful with them. After I wash it I place it on a towel away from everything. Placing it in a dish drainer with anything else is courting disaster. 10 minutes ago, after placing the washed press right side up on the toweled counter, I was doing some cleaning and knocked it over. Nothing violent, just a nudge with my arm. It simply fell on its side and shattered as the top part of the glass tapped the hard countertop beyond the towel. Each one broke with nothing more than a little tap. My assumption: if tapped just right - it will shatter. Doesn't take a heavy hit at all. Every one I bought has broken the same way. I still love them, they make awesome coffee, but at 20.00 a whack I believe I could have purchased a higher quality one and not had to make repeated purchases. Which I have to do now, because you can't beat coffee out of a french press.

Started out pretty nice. It was my first french press. The rubber stopper piece keeps sliding off mid press and you have to take the press out, screw the stopper back on and try it again. If you like to grind your coffee to sand for that extra bold flavor and kick, it creates a lot of resistance and the stopper will likely come out very easily. The only way around this is to take it ridiculously slow. And even then it still comes off time to time. Its pretty aggravating. When it does work though, it does the job just fine. Cleans easy too.Another con is that the underside of the lid tends to gather coffee residue and absolutely must be soaped and scrubbed fairly hard to get it off.Like any french press, you'll know what kind of crappy coffee you're getting when you run it through one of these, as it will either improve what good coffee you have, or make the okayish coffee you have taste like dirt.After about a year of use the handle feels like its going to pop off the top. Doesn't seem to handle normal use and wear very well.If you're looking to try a french press for the first time, you wouldn't go wrong with this one, but if you want one that's going to last forever, or you're looking for something spectacular, keep looking.

I love the product, but I find the glass chips easily, even something as simple as setting it in with the other dishes for a couple minutes before washing. I've broken 2 carafe's but it's such a simple to use product that I keep buying it again! Call me crazy, but I really do love the coffee I get from this Bodum product.** Update** I have broken 5 of these over the past 3 years. The glass is so breakable when washing. One shattered through my own error, but the others have all gotten small chips in the pour spout over time, making them dangerous to handle. One also snapped at the plastic piece holding the metal rod in place, making the filtering process inconsistent as the rod and filter would tilt. For my next purchase, I am switching to a stainless steel option

After my aged coffeemaker died, I decided I would give this a try. I like it very much, and it makes good coffee. However, it is hard to get the grounds out of the container in a non-messy fashion. I don't like to put coffee grounds down my garbage disposer, but it is unavoidable with this type of coffeemaker.

If you're picky about your coffee, this is probably not the product for you. The plunger has a tendency to wobble within the plastic housing as you press down, meaning that the finer grounds are going to get past that mesh screen and you're going to end up with sediment in your coffee. The amount of grody coffee dirt that I've ended up swallowing since I got this french press has been substantial. But I'm really not picky, so I can deal with grody coffee dirt on a seemingly random basis.Furthermore, if you drink coffee on the daily, this thing is not going to last very long for you. The rapid temperature changes associated with daily use cause the glass to become surprisingly fragile in a short amount of time. Mine lasted exactly six months to the day before it shattered into numerous gigantic shards after the item slipped out of my hands and fell approximately two inches into a sink.Again, I ain't picky about the grody coffee dirt and for the price, I never expected it to last all that long. If you're trying to save a little in the short-run and you're as un-picky as I am, then this will probably satisfy your needs. Not good, but not bad. Three stars!

I purchased this a little over a month ago. I used it on the weekends when I am home and make coffee. After figuring out the ratio I liked and brewing time I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee from a french press (had been using a drip maker). This past Saturday I went to make my coffee and the filters fell off the stem, the end was broken off, and the press was rendered useless. I have since tossed it in the trash and have ordered a new one that's a different brand. Hopefully it holds up better. I read all of the directions and information about this one, I can't see that I missed anything making its failure my fault. I am glad others have had better results.

At first I was sold. A decent French press for half the price. My initial issue was the shape of the handle in regards to the press itself. By grabbing the handle normally, it is so close to the glass that my hand was in contact with the glass (hot from boiling water). Work around was to grab from the top and pinch. Not a deal breaker at all. But after pretty frequent use, the screw assembly holding the filter assembly to the bottom of the rod somehow broke, so that by pushing down, the rod came loose from the filter, plunging to the bottom and leaving the filter still at the top. Not being able to push the filter down rendered the French press useless. Not heartbroken since the cost was so low, but now I'm out a French press and wish I would have just spent the extra money. For what it's worth, it worked great while it held together.

Bought this to replace one made by Mr. Coffee that I had for years. I broke the glass on the Mr. Coffee and saved the rest of the "parts".Glad I did! I used the Bodum one twice and the plastic threaded ferrule that holds the plunger/screen stuff to the rod broke. Plastic!I got out the parts from the Mr. Coffee and that part is actually metal and it was a perfect fit.Originally I thought these were all basically the same but found out NOT.Just beware that a real key component on this one is plastic. Probably a one star rating would be better but I'm glad I had an easy fix on hand.

This item breaks easily. I broke three so far. When it works, it works. However, after the last one, I bought a Secura Stainless Steel French Press Coffee Maker 18/10 Bonus Stainless Steel Screen and it is made much better, cleans easier and has more screens so makes cleaner coffee. This glass french press does what it is supposed to do, but since it breaks easier than I like, I am glad I switched to the stainless steel one.

I purchased this Bodum Brazil French Press in July, 2015. I used it daily, sometimes twice daily. During a routine cleaning in March 2016, the handle cracked and broke off.Other poor reviews of this item also state that the plastic doesn't hold up to daily use. Just beware that if purchasing a Bodum Brazil it's not the best choice for a daily use French Press. If you're looking for a part-time use press, this would easily work. However, go with a Stainless Steel press if you're looking for a daily use press.Before it broke, the French Press worked as intended. Unfortunately, it didn't hold up.Upon contacting the company I was told the part couldn't be replaced and they didn't offer to replace the whole press. Even if they had, I wouldn't have accepted a replacement since I use a French Press daily and this would have just broken again in the future. I opted for a Stainless Steel press instead.

I have always wanted one of these, so I immediately bought this when my fancy, programmable coffee pot became an ant farm and I had to toss it. It is easy to use, easy to clean, and makes great-tasting coffee. I will never go back to a drip coffee maker.*Update* this thing is is the embodiment of planned obsolescence. It is supposed to be "dishwaswer and microwave safe" but if you go that route your glass will break after a few months. And Bodum offers no warranty on its glass parts. Boo on Bodum.I think I'll make cowboy coffee in one of my 60 year old mason jars until I can find something of a higher quality!

Updated 10/6/207: This morning as I went to press the plunger down to keep all of my tea leaves at the bottom of the French press the plastic part that holds the threaded plunger stem to the filter broke. I have only been using this French press for about two months of daily use and it broke. I cannot in good faith recommend this product.The is an excellent French Press. It efficiently filters out a myriad of varieties of tea leaves with only bits of dust getting through-this is common with pretty much any method of brewing tea. My one complaint has to do with the handle. The top of the handle reaches over the glass and you have to finagle the filter under it.

Well this is unfortunate. I have been using this item less than a month, and it has already come apart. Seeing that I do not use it daily this was a huge disappointment for an item that was so highly rated. My last French press, lasted me 6 years and I only replaced it with this one, due to the glass being cracked during a move. Pretty frustrating to have to buy another one again.

I have owned this for a little more than year now and everything was great at the beginning, however as time went on the plastic part started to lose it rigidity before coming off. After that the French Press was rendered useless and I had to throw it away. Beware of French Presses that rely on plastic part and instead invest into a stainless steel one for a little more money

I bought this less than 6 months ago after using one at a rental house and was excited to use my french press for coffee and ice brew. I had concerns about the strength of the glass when i started using it, but trusted that it was dishwasher safe. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. It is a shame that a quality brand is using such insignificant glass. Move along...

I ordered this to replace another french press that was accidentally broken in our lab's break room. As I don't drink coffee, I didn't open it when it arrived, just placed it on the counter with a note to express my apologies for having broken the first one. My lab mate just went to use the new french press to find that it had arrived broken. Unfortunately, the french press sat in the box, unused for a few months before anyone decided to make coffee again, so I can no longer return it. Suffice to say I'm very disappointed.

I purchased this after having owned a smaller Bodum Chambord style press that has a metal rather than plastic holder.After cold brewing some coffee, I went to remove the glass carafe from the holder (otherwise it is difficult to clean and dry quickly). The handle snapped off entirely at its base. Had this not occurred, I would have considered rating this ~4 before this incident. There are some other more minor design flaws that others have detailed, but having a part break during normal use is unacceptable.
