I have a smaller glass press but it makes one cup for my husband and myself. With this one, we can have several cups at breakfast with it on the table looking gorgeous.I originally was excited to buy this because several of the 'buyers comments' of the coffee staying hot for several hours in this vessel. Although I think that is possible, the manufacturer does state in the paper that comes with it that you should not leave your coffee in this for too long or it could become bitter. Realizing this was probably true, when it's just me making a pot for myself, I transfer the remaining coffee over to a different thermal. I didn't want to compromise the deliciousness of the finished product. A small concession. All around better than glassOctober 9, 2015 I started out with a french press something like 6 years ago. At the time, I ended up with the standard run-of-the-mill glass carafe system, and over the years I have gone through about 3 of them due to breakage. In my initial product searches at the time, I ruled out the idea of a stainless press due to high cost, so imagine my surprise when I came across this press from LeMeilleur at a comparable price to the glass versions I had been using. Since I've made the switch I can say that this stainless steel press is really better in almost every way. It keeps the liquid hotter during brewing, it filters grounds/leaves better, it is easier to clean, it pours better due to the bigger spout, and best of all, I don't need to worry about it stress cracking from so many repeated thermal cycles. You even get a whole extra set of double filters in case something happens to the originals. The only conceivable downside I can see is that you can't as easily see the color of your brew/steep for those who pay attention to such a thing. Personally, I always use timers to judge strength so it is not an issue for me. Thanks for such a great and affordable product! and it worked great! I'm used to my glass carafe, and having broken those in the past, I wanted something less fragile, and also insulated since the glass carafe cools off quickly and I was constantly microwaving my refills. I'm also glad to say that there were no grounds floating in my coffee this morning, so something about the double filter system definitely seems to work better than what I had before. The double walls do not keep the coffee quite as hot as a vacuum thermos, but they did keep it pretty hot. One word of caution -- the insulating space and tapered walls make this look bigger than the actual volume of coffee you can make. But otherwise I am completely happy with this press! | |

You can't leave the coffee in it too long or it will get bitter but that probably won't happen since it's supposed to hold a litte more than 4 cups but if you have larger mugs it really is about 3 mugs of coffee. We would fill it with hot water to heat it up while heating water for coffee. Sometimes I get four solid cups of coffee and sometimes I get only three or less. I make coffee for my wife and I so that means we sometimes get only 1.5 cups per person. I like to have two cups in the morning and that's it. So it's disappointing when I expect to get a full second cup and it comes up short.The company claims that you'll get NO grounds 100% guaranteed, which isn't true either. I guess that's marketing for you. 100% is a bold claim.I've tried removing one of one of the screens, but that doesn't help either.Before this French press, we were using a Bialetti and before that several different French presses.All that said, I'd say buy this press. Since its metal, the fear of breaking it iis gone like the glass press. I broke one allready. But the best part is it keeps coffee hotter. I feel glass presses dont maintain the heat well. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is the plunger part doesnt go all the way down, so it trickles to get the last half ounce out of it. Also the only draw back to metal is you cant eye ball the amount of hot water you pour into it like a glass one. You need to actually measure the water amount you put into it. | Decent, but finish was damaged. Could use a few improvements.September 23, 2017 I bought this press over similar stainless steel ones because I liked the look of it. Unfortunately, like some others reported, mine came in a cardboard box with nothing protecting it inside (it wasn't loose in the shipping box, it was packaged in a cardboard box, which was in the shipping box). There were several spots of marring where the finish was scratched and looked black (I tried to capture it in photos, but it's difficult with the finish being so reflective). I also noted a screeching sound when I first depressed the plunger, however, it was markedly less noticeable when there was coffee inside. One thing I wish this press had was measurement markings on the inner chamber. Unless you use a separate measuring cup, you can't be sure exactly how much water you're putting in it. Plus, sometimes, I'd like to make just a half-pot and it's difficult to eyeball how much water to use. I will say that it made a good cup of coffee with zero grounds getting through. I can't speak to the thermal properties as I've only used it for cold brew so far. | DangerousDecember 16, 2016 This thing cut my hand pretty bad when trying to wash it. The inner mesh metal is very sharp on the edges.. also it makes this irritating screech sound when you push it down or pull up, like a metal-on-metal high-pitched scratchy sound. avoidOctober 31, 2016 Product is terrible. Poor Engineering Design of the plunger does not allow easy disassemble of the filters.April 2, 2016 Unable to disassemble the filters part and change the filters when I need to. The instruction Manual that comes with the LeMeilleur press states that “To take apart the filter, grip the filter assembly and turn counter-clockwise to unscrew the plunger shaft”. I tried that and many other things for 2 hours; impossible to disassemble the filters even with pliers. Poor engineering design, they did not think through how to easily disassemble (unscrew) the filters. The shaft of the plunger is too thin to turn because there is no way to get a strong grip on it. Returning it back. Defective and not returnableMarch 6, 2016 At 33 days the plunger handle broke and the item is no longer eligible for return or replacement! That's money down the drain. I already recycled the box, and thought I'd be stuck with a defective product. I called Amazon, they emailed a shipping label so I can return, even though I no longer have the box.
