Great for the money
December 24, 2016
The zippers can be a little stubborn, but I also don't use all of the compartments regularly. It is comfortable and padded well, overall I love it! The nylon material on the inside is a little thin and may tear easily, but for it's price range it is awesome! Some of the reviews on here seem like they're comparing this backpack to one that is $100 and wondering why the quality isn't the same......you're buying an inexpensive pack, the less cost must be factored in somewhere. When this wears out, ill be buying another for sure!
It is bigger than you think.
September 20, 2016
You can back a lot more than you think in this. Packed for a four day road trip, and it carried everything! Even an extra pair of shoes! It carries very well on the back. The straps are well padded, without being bulky. The top handle is actually big enough to use for more than hanging from a hook. The only "shortcoming" is the lack of color selection.
17 inch laptop fits fine.
August 24, 2016
My biggest concern was if my 17 inch MacBook Pro would fit in it or not... Because many people in the reviews were saying different things. It just arrived and it fits perfectly and very comfortably. Those with the same concern should know the 17 inch laptop fits perfectly fine. I am going to start using it now. I am giving it five star because my laptop fits. I might do another review when I use the bag since it just arrived.
this is the best "IT crash bag" I have ever owned
November 15, 2015
I must admit that I was first skeptical about a backpack for under 30 bucks that would meet the rigorous demands of an IT technologist such as myself. Well, this is the best "IT crash bag" I have ever owned. It was recently field-tested under rugged conditions, much of it in the rain, holding up quite well, and unexpectedly pulled through for me under some trying circumstances. It held all my tools I needed: multi-tool, screwdriver, crimps, diag-cutters, adapters, notepads, pens, markers, cables, 17" laptop and charger, iPad Air, work gloves, flashlight, spare parts, etc. I hope the picture speaks for itself. I highly recommend it for field and office.

EDIT: I would like to add this is one durable backpack! Lately I have been traveling with this bag on commercial flights as checked luggage, maybe twic, since I carry so many tools for my work. Without exception, I find a TSA card inside. One time, one of the zippers had popped off track. I was bummed that I might have to purchase another bag. I went online, found a relatively easy way to repair it. SAVED MONEY and TIME. In my experience, manufacturers skimp on the zipper quality, causing it to easily crack or completely break if you try to pry at it with needle-nosed pliers or screwdriver. Not in my case! Happy customer.
I really enjoy taking this backpack to school
June 6, 2015
I really enjoy taking this backpack to school. I keep my 15.6 inch laptop and it fits securely. I also keep my 7inch tablet along with my solarcharger and earbuds along with the chargers. Lots of pencils and a couple of notebooks and one binder. It really protects my laptop and other equipment. It has enough room for most of my stuff. I really like that i can open the very small pouch all the way down and same with the pouch after the laptop. It may not have the most padding but it will keep your laptop protected. The shoulder padding is good and i like the front strap pouch. I put my granola bars there.

I added another star for Amazon's incredible customer service. They were very quick to solve my issue. The backpack is great, but out of thousands of them produce there must be a couple that don't get built a swell as they are design to be. Great job Amazon!

Almost ideal
September 7, 2017
The water bottle holders on the sides of this backpack are too small to be of much use. This is the only real problem I see with this backpack and something Amazon could easily fix if it wanted to. Some will not like the fact that the laptop sleeve only covers about 80% of a laptop, leaving 20% exposed to the contents inside your backpack. This was not something that concerned me. However, you should be aware of it before you buy. Aside from that, I consider the backpack to be an extremely good value at the 29.99 price Amazon charged me. For quality, I can't say how long it will hold up and won't comment beyond saying it feels reasonably solid. I suspect it will be fine for me, since my intended use is only occasional.
Great backpack, especially for the cost!
April 30, 2017
I really like this backpack. It is very functional, and has many compartments, and a protected slot for my laptop which is a big plus. It was definitely worth the purchase price. It is well made, and seems like it will last a long time before getting "Worn Out". I took off one star mainly because a couple of the zippers are a little sticky, and the style of the backpack isn't my favorite. I prefer the aesthetics of other bags quite a bit more, however they also are quite a bit more expensive. For the price, you can't beat this bag though. It's functional, high quality, and has plenty of storage space.
Great backpack! It's better than "basic" but it's also not for 17" laptops, either!
March 27, 2017
This is a solid backpack with lots of room and compartments. The first compartment has several little dividers to hold your pens, post-it notes, business cards, phone, external drives, power cords, etc. The second compartment is not as deep or wide as the other pockets but goes down the whole length of the backpack. The third compartment is h-u-g-e! It's deep and wide and about 3-4" at the bottom and will hold a ton of books, folders, and notebooks. The rear compartment has a padded area for the laptop, a shallow pocket and another huge area that's as big as the 3rd compartment. Finally, in between the 3rd and 4th compartments is a mini-pocket that can hold a phone, iPod, ear buds, and other small items. This thing can hold a lot! On each side of the backpack is a mesh pocket with elastic top. It will hold a 20 oz. bottle of water. Drink containers larger than a 20 oz. water bottle will probably not fit. Now, let's talk about padding. The front compartment is padded, the handle is padded, the shoulder straps are very well padded and the areas that will be pressing against your shoulder blades and lower back are thickly padded, too.

Overall, this is a great backpack and not too "basic". It's lightweight and strong. However, I have a 17" laptop (screen size). When I actually measured the body, it is 16 1/2". It can barely fit into the backpack without a lot of effort. And at the very top of the bag, where the corners of the laptop are, the laptop is clearly pushing the limits of the fabric so now those areas of my laptop are at risk for damage if dropped and the bag probably won't last more than a year before those areas completely wear through. And that is why I had to give this a 4-star rating. :-(

If you have a 15" laptop and a lot of gear to carry, then this backpack is great and would be worth all 5 stars!!!
It's a nice backpack, but not for gaming size laptops. Padding is mediocre, but cheap and serviceable for general use.
August 15, 2016
I love this bag in general. The design is simple, yet nice. It feels sturdy and I haven't noticed any issues with stitching or zipper problems with mine. For general use and basic, smaller laptops I think it would do fine. It could do with a little extra padding, but it's meant to be a cheap alternative backpack so I'm not surprised and I can't fault them much. I plan on using it for non-laptop stuff. My Acer Predator 15.6" laptop did not fit this backpack (the "up to 17-inch version") even without the neoprene sleeve I normally keep it in. So oversized gaming laptops aren't going to fit most likely. Thinner or smaller standard laptops would probably be ok. And the rest of the backpack is roomy enough for the charger, mice, some books, and accessories. I do like the backpack overall and will be using it for other things.
... want a quick say about this product (More than good for its price)
June 16, 2015
For people who want a quick say about this product (More than good for its price).

Now for those who want a more detailed review:

1- This bag has 5 pockets (2 Very big capacity pockets, 2 Mid capacity pockets, 1 very small pocket)
2- The big pocket can hold up a big laptop + its charging brick and cables + am also putting my 12.2 inch android tablet, and am pretty sure i can add more if i wanted.
3- The 2nd big pocket can handle as much as the first big pocket, but there is no slot for anything, its just one big pocket, it can hold big items such as books notebooks etc, i am using it for notebook, reading book and my headset which is large (PS3 elite headsets).
4- The 3rd pocket is mid size, currently not using it.
5- The 4th pocket is for cables, external battery and other similar items.
6- The 5th pocket between (first and 2nd) is a very small one, i am using it for very small items that i dont access frequently such as keys, small documents (passport) etc.

Overall i really love this bag, its very big for its size, very affordable, looks nice, and its not cheap in terms of protection. i would recommend it for people who want something that offers more than its price.

i gave it 4 stars because after all there are other bags that are better, but they are very expensive.

Good backpack for the price... but can be improved.
October 10, 2017
Good price with a number of pockets inside to store variety of things from laptop to folders/files, cell phone, keys and etc. However, a couple of the pocket zippers were difficult to open/close with the inside pocket-edges/stiffeners get in the ways; in my opinion, there needs more cushion on the bottom of the backpack to better protect laptop. After just one use, there were already many areas of thread coming loose (some what disappointed) where I had to either re-sew and for those shorter loosen threads I had to use a match to melt the loose/excessive threads to keep them from further coming apart...
Needs more padding all around but still a great pack with decent protection
March 3, 2017
Needs more padding all around but still a great pack with decent protection. Just easy to forget with a backpack style that your carrying your laptop so don't forget and go slamming your pack around because when you feel the base padding and padding in general there is no real SHELL feel just maybe a 1/4 layer of pad all around or so.

Worth the price but maybe invest in a shell / hard case but slim style one to slip into this pack. Or just take heed and be safe and a little light with this one since it's not super rugged.
Good design, expected quality for the price.
January 10, 2017
Basic backpack, well designed, plenty of room for laptop and accessories with room for some books & notebooks as well.

Materials feel too light and cheap, particularly the interior divider between compartments. Not unexpected for a $30 backpack.

Update: After using for a few weeks the issue with the weak divider between compartments means that the interior space acts as a single volume. Really needs sturdier interior dividers. Will likely buy a different bag since I need the space.
otherwise this is a great backpack for a great price
December 11, 2016
I've been using this backpack for several months and is holding up very well. It has one bottle holder on each side which I wasn't expecting but I end up using both every day, one for a contigo mug and the other for a bottle of water. My only gripe is there are too many pouches and I end up opening every one looking for something on a fairly regular basis. But that is a minor issue for me, otherwise this is a great backpack for a great price.

EDIT: the two cup holders on each side now have large rips in the mesh and will soon be unusable. I removed a star for lack of durability and I'm now in the market for a new bag. :(
Solidly built, but didn't fit my laptop
October 13, 2015
Build quality appears solid and the zippers definitely are heavy duty. Each compartment has plenty of space and sub-compartments that definitely show attention to detail for carrying a lot of accessories along with your laptop. That said I have to only give it three stars due to it not fitting my Acer Nitro 17 Black Edition and having to return it. The compartment is too small and the zippers will not close with the laptop inside. Once again, this bag WILL NOT HOLD an Acer Nitro 17 Black Edition gaming laptop. It's too small. Other than that, it's a solid backpack at a reasonable laptop.

Zipper broke within a week.
September 22, 2017
Very disappointed. I probably got a bad egg, but the zippers stuck every time I tried to use them and within one week of use, one zipper broke. The water bottle pockets are pretty small (Don't fit a shaker bottle). The organizational pocket for pencils and whatnot was poorly organized and tucked under the bottom of the backpack when sitting on the ground. Frankly, the only thing the buckles do is get in the way. I hope you have a better experience. As always, amazon was very accommodating with the return and that went smoothly.
Very cheap construction
January 16, 2017
You get what you pay for with this I guess. I have a 17 inch HP Omen laptop that can barely squeeze into this... it fits but not without some serious wedging. The back is supported by flimsy cheap cardboard and the interior lining is course and feels almost like thin paper. The zippers are metallic but they make a loud jingling noise whenever the bag moves slightly which sounds like one of the pockets is full of loose change. Finally, the side mesh pockets are very narrow... The water bottle I have that fits fine into a standard cup holder would not fit into them no matter how hard I tried.I returned this the day it arrived.
I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of this backpack
August 24, 2016
I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of this backpack. It's thin compared to my previous backpack that lasted me years and it's got threads hanging off it, seems the stitching isn't the best quality either. The zipper pulls are flimsy and will easily come off with a lot of use and the padding for my laptop is too thin for my comfort. I don't normally post negative reviews but I expected better quality since this has the Amazon name on it. For this price I could've gotten something a little meatier that would last longer and hold up to more travel.
Nice size but the water bottle holders didn't hold my ...
July 18, 2016
Nice size but the water bottle holders didn't hold my water bottles-they fell out. This was a deal breaker for me so I sent back.
Comfortable and organized, but the craftsmanship leaces much to be desired.
February 22, 2016
As others have said, this is a very roomy backpack. The lack of padding on the bottom is a little irritating, but it's comfortable and has enough organizational places that it's all fine. However, I received this backpack on January 9. It's February 22, and there's already a hole in the bottom seam between the book pouch and the computer pouch. It's large enough that the corner of one of my textbooks pokes through, and I can fit my thumb inside with no issue. I generally carry a hardback textbook, two small paperbacks, a notebook, an umbrella, and a small, ultrathin laptop in my backpack. It's not straining, there's not even fifteen pounds of stuff in it, and it's falling apart. I cannot recommend this laptop for customers looking for a long-term item. There's a warranty that apparently comes with the AmazonBasics line, but that doesn't make a backpack falling apart after one month excusable. This is with regular wear and tear, occasionally putting the bag down on a concrete surface but never dragging.I want to like this product. It's designed in a way that I find useful and creative. However, the actual construction leaves much to be desired.
...I am mostly disappointed.
July 16, 2015
Pros:1) The handle on top is a very nice feature.2) It has a good number of pockets or various sizes.Cons:1) The shoulder straps are not padded very well, and are thus uncomfortable.2) The water bottle holders on the sides are a very tight fit; it's hard to get the bottle in and out of the pack while you're wearing it.3) The actual laptop pocket is hardly padded at all, which is unfortunate, because that's the one feature I cannot do without.Overall, the bag does what it's supposed to do; carry things. However, I am mostly disappointed. For a cheap book bag, you'll get what you paid for, but I had expected better from Amazon.

quality issues - cannot stand up to a college student's use
September 26, 2017
I received this backpack about a month ago. I realized after about only 3 weeks of use that one of the cinching straps on the side of the bag had completely come off - the strap was frayed on the end and no longer staying attached to the bag.Silly me thought it would be a good idea to order a replacement instead of getting a refund. My replacement came quickly (yeah prime shipping!), but yesterday when I picked it up I heard the dreaded rip - One of the main straps came loose from the seam attaching it to the main body. - This was only 5 days after I had received the replacement and only the second day I had used the backpack. It was only about a half inch that ripped. In the backpack at the time was my laptop, one textbook, 2 small binders, and assorted notebooks and folders, plus a few other light things like pens and a calculator. The replacement backpack is now on its way back to Amazon and I am on the lookout for a new backpack.
I'm pretty disappointed. Within one day of use
September 8, 2017
I'm pretty disappointed. Within one day of use, and the only things in it were a notebook, 1 textbook, and my laptop, one of the side straps already came completely off. Not sure it's really worth my time, effort, and lack of having another backpack to send it back.
Cheaply made and Falling apart within a few months of using it
August 13, 2017
I haven't had this backpack for long and already the front stitching on the front pocket is coming out. It seems to be pretty cheaply made. I will not be buying an Amazon basics backpack again.
Arrived damaged and overall didn't impress.
October 3, 2016
The product arrived promptly, unfortunately it looked like it was previously purchased, used, wear marks on the fabric and a broken zipper, was then returned and then Amazon resold it to me.So obviously, there's your one star. Beyond that issue the bag is just okay. It fit my gear without an issue, 15" laptop, ipad, notebook, cables and power supply. The padding for the laptop doesn't offer much protection. Carrying the back is not very comfortable, it puts unnecessary strain on your shoulders.I was looking for something to replace a canvas messenger bag I've had for too many years, and this is not much better than a school bag.
Very basic quality backpack.
January 16, 2016
Very basic quality backpack. You can get much higher quality backpack at the same price or price may be few dollar more. But consider the fact that you don't buy backpack every day.
Not wide enough for my MSI 17inch laptop
July 18, 2015
Unfortunately the main compartment is not wide enough for my MSI brand 17 inch laptop. If it had fit my laptop i would have given 5 stars since it has good construction and quality for the price. Amazon, should design backback with the additional 1/4 inch width.
