Great speakers

I love these speakers made my laptop that hard terrible sound quality had audio much better. I am happy I got these speakers and I highly recommend this seller fast shipping and arrived in excellent condition.
Great product, poor packaging
June 11, 2017
I love these speakers. They work really well and have very nice sound quality. The knob is a little stiff but I am sure it will loosen with use. I was definitely not happy with the packaging though. It was smashed on one end. Luckily, it dd not damage the product.
Great price and the sound is not bad
April 29, 2017
Great price and the sound is not bad. If your looking for surround sound with tons of bass, well these are not what you want. If your looking for speaking quality sound these are for you. They are perfect for my needs.
Good, Clean Sound
May 5, 2016
Good, clean sound. They amplify the audio from my computer enough that I can actually hear the movies and tv shows that stream with very low volume. Like most of the movies streamed by Amazon.
Good Cheap Stereo; Exactly What I Needed
July 29, 2015
I have not had a single problem with these yet. They work great for cheap and easy speakers and they don't sound too bad unless you try to blast them out. But even then, they must be going really loud to actually sound that bad. They hook up fine, wouldn't work on by back audio output but that may be my computer and not the mic because they work fine on my front port. It was a good buy and as long as you treat them well you shouldn't have a problem.
Beware the blue light :)
March 28, 2015
Great little speakers... Sound quality is more than acceptable. I use them with my iPad Air 2 while I listen to music at night... But, that blue indicator light is soooo flippin bright you could read a book by it in the dead of night. Not a huge issue though... A small square of black electrical tape solved that problem. So all in all I'm happy with the purchase.

Nice clean installation
March 28, 2017
While others have reported that this sound bar comes with a short USB cable, mine came with a 5 foot USB cable attached to the sound bar. For my configuration I will likely still buy a USB extension cable due to how I want to route my cable, but 5 feet may be enough for you. My Dell monitors do not have USB ports so I it must plug this sound bar into a USB port on my computer. I get no static noise when connected this way, others have reported noise when plugged into the USB port on their monitor. My Dell monitor, model E2416H, has the provision to mount this sound bar to the bottom of the monitor. Nice clean installation! Love it! So the noise others talk about must be from the USB power in the monitor, proximity of the sound bar to the monitor (mounted directly under the monitor) does not cause the noise issue, at least not for me.I highly recommend this sound bar! The primary advantages are: 1.) It mounts to the bottom of compatible Dell monitors for a very nice clean look. 2.) The sound bar sounds great. I am not doing any critical listening but it works great for you tube, but still impressed with the sound.
Dell AC511 USB Wired Soundbar
September 20, 2016
I was honestly nervous when I ordered this soundbar and learned that it's USB-powered. My experience in the past with USB-powered speakers was sub-par, so understandably, I had doubts. I was pleasantly pleased when I turned this unit on and watched a movie. The sound was leaps and bounds better than my expectations. Nice deep bass, crisp highs. In terms of volume, it gets fairly loud -- more than enough for my needs while sitting in my office. Volume controls located on the side of the unit are very convenient.Overall, I highly recommend this unit.
small unobtrusive and works great for general audio on a PC
August 30, 2016
Bought a new Dell monitor (4k 27") and didn't even realize there were little tabs to remove to mount this. It hooks up via USB to the monitor and then is integrated with windows volume (the dial on it moves 0-100 just like the system control in the taskbar) so doesn't require two level tweaking like my previous dell monitor sound bar (adjust on hardware and on software)Cord is longer than I needed but I hid it behind the monitor so I don't mind (assume it is longer in case you have to get down to USB port on your PC)
Good sound for the price
April 8, 2016
Good sound for the price. The sound is balanced and clear. There is certainly no abundance of bass nor are the high notes especially transparent, but I enjoy listening to them. I wouldn't use them for a lot of music listening, but for the occasional video or some background music while working, these do the job well, and look nice. The build quality is actually nice and appealing. They're solid matte black with two 3.5mm jacks on the left side and a volume knob and a white LED power indicator that comes on whenever the device is plugged in. These speakers connect over USB, and you will have to choose them as your default output device in your operating system to be able to use them (though this is a very easy step, it could be a hassle if you plan to change devices often). However, I wouldn't recommend using them as a USB DAC, because there is a little bit of static on the 3.5mm ports. Overall, I nice, inexpensive, practical, and sleek looking product with satisfactory audio.
Fits perfectly and easy to install
March 16, 2016
I purchased this product for Dell monitor and Windows PC. Fits perfectly and easy to install. I purchased another one home (P2715Q) and had difficult time to make it working. The installation guide shows that you need to connect Sound bar with your monitor and then Monitor to your laptop (I have MacBook Pro). It didn't work! I also had to purchase additional cable because the Sound bar didn't have USB to USB cable. It didn't work either. Was very disappointed. However, customer support service did amazing work! That is why They contacted me and explained what to do. So, for everyone who has same difficulties:Do not follow the instruction! You just need to hook the Sound Bar directly to the computer via a USB extension (comes with a product) instead of to the USB slot on the back of the monitor. You need to use only one cable instead of two. Also it can be a little problem if you don't have USB hub, because this cable is very short. Make sure you have it or you need to purchase another cable.About sound: If you complain about bad sound - go and buy subwoofer or professional sound speakers. For this speaker size sound is really good! You pay for the compact product which doesn't take too much space on your desk, not for the perfect sound.
Perfect for its size and cost!
February 13, 2016
This soundbar is now installed on my 27" Dell P2715Q, which is a sweet 4K monitor. The soundbar provides excellent quality for its size. The speakers I had previously had more base, but that's because they were connected to a small subwoofer about the size of a volleyball. People should not criticize this Dell soundbar if they feel there is not enough bass or loudness. If you want loud audio with lots of bass, connect your computer to a surround sound setup that is designed to blow you away.I have thoroughly enjoyed gaming and streaming TV shows while watching from bed because this soundbar is sleek, clear, and enjoyable.

Got these to use with an echo. I know I could use Bluetooth but that isn't really what I wanted to do for a number of limitations with the echo. It's much easier to use something that you are in just better Fidelity's and Tiny speaker built into the echo to fit my needs perfectly
Cheap in more ways than one

Really inexpensive speakers that get the job done. Don't expect to get any sort of decent sound out of these, but they're definitely functional, and for the price not too bad.
Nice speakers for the price

Nice speakers for the price. Only thing was the description said USB plug in and they came with an A/C adapter instead. Otherwise work fine!

I got what I paid for. These aren't really well suited for music that has prominent low to low mid frequencies (as expected). The higher frequencies project well, and the max volume is adequate. I'd recommend these for podcasts, or basic computer and internet usage.
Adequate

Looks great, perfect fit for the Dell monitor. Sleek and decent sound. Trouble with direct HDMI hook up to monitor
September 20, 2017
This is a perfect fit for the Dell Computer Ultrasharp U2415 24.0-Inch Screen LED MonitorEasy install...just pop off the bottom protective cover and it slips onThe sound is ok, Not a lot of base, but easily adjusted volume and great for the occasional video or movie. It's not a multi hundred dollar speaker system, but it fits right on the monitor and looks great without being bulky.Only four stars because I couldn't get it to work directly off the monitor that was plugged in to the HDMI port on the computer. I had to run a line to the audio output. It may be a configuration setup issue, but I couldn't resolve the problem.I like the look, the setup, the decent sound. It just didn't run off the monitor when I hooked the monitor to HDMI and the speaker to the monitor. I had to run it to the computer audio output connection.
Convenient, great sound, with caveat
June 2, 2017
This speaker is meant to hang under your Dell monitor. Check under the bottom of your monitor for two slits before purchasing, if you plan on hanging it under your monitor. My monitor had two sticky pieces of plastic covering up the slits. Removed those, slid the speaker in place. Fits solidly. I chose to plug it in to the USB port on the side of the monitor, and it worked without drivers or configuration. My speaker does suffer from the known white noise issue where it makes an audible noise (although very low) due to picking up interference. I'm going to try the recommended method of putting foil around the speaker to circumvent this. Due to me having to fix something that should be done during design or manufacturing, I am deducting 1 star. I am not deducting more because I ordered the speaker being fully aware of this possible issue.Considering the ease of setup and the sound quality of this sound bar, I would definitely still recommend purchasing it. Just be prepared to possibly do a little more to rid the audible white noise, if your speaker suffers from that.
Nice profile. Decent sound quality and volume for the size. Annoying buzz is a design flaw, but not the biggest deal.
June 18, 2016
I like it. It's pretty good. I mean, the sound quality is fine, and it is sufficiently loud for how I use it. I'm glad it has a headphone jack, too. I don't have a monitor that it was designed to fit, but I just took a dremel and cut off the little tabs, and then used double-sided tape to stick it to the bottom of my monitor. The only downside is that there is a design flaw in this speaker that is well documented; it has a slight speaker buzz/noise that comes out regardless of volume setting. I can't here it unless the room is quiet, but it is a little bit annoying. If you look online, people say they sometimes return it, thinking it is a defect, but then the replacement does it as well. Dell claims the noise is within their design parameters... but that doesn't mean the buzz is acceptable - it just means they have a bad design, and they know it. But, it's not that big of a deal. That's why I am still giving it 4 stars. I think having a USB speaker that just sits below my monitor is way nicer than having extra wires and stuff clouding up my counter. Oh, and with a USB speaker, the volume control integrates with the Windows volume control, which I think is nice. No issues with turning up the speaker, only to find windows is turned down, or vice-versa.
Almost the perfect sound bar.
January 26, 2016
We bought a bunch of new dell computers, monitors, soundbars, everything for our business. The soundbars work great with the computers, but as some have mentioned there are issues with the headphone jack. We didn't buy them for the headphone jack since we didn't know there even was one when we bought them. Our business got a new building with custom desks that hide the computers very well so all you see is the monitor keyboard and mouse. We used the monitor as a USB hub so employees can just plug in their USB devices to the monitor if they needed to. Sometimes people like to listen to voicemails privately(or YouTube videos) so when I discovered the headphone and microphone jacks I got excited that we could still keep the computer hidden and have access to USB ports and Headphone/Microphone jacks on top of the desk. I tried my headphones in it and it was all fuzzy. Other employees use Skype to communicate outside the country and I bought them headsets only to find out the microphone jack won't even pick up a signal. I had to buy separate USB sound cards to get the headset to work.Basically it is a great soundbar if you need a slim speaker that easily attaches to a Dell monitor and doesn't take up real estate on your desk. It also is powered by USB so you don't need any extra power bulky cables. For the price it really is a great device, but I am bummed that the headphone jack and microphone jack simply do not work This was almost the perfect speaker option for our needs. I'm sure they will make improvements eventually.
susceptible to interference
January 19, 2016
Pros: very nice sound. clean installation. unobtrusive. comes with long USB cable attached for those of us without USB hubs built into the monitor.Cons: constant buzzing sound! In my case it's picking up interference from the cordless phone base nearby on the desk. The noise is coupling in on the USB cable. I'll need to move some stuff around on the desk or try adding additional ferrite beads and/or copper tape to quiet this thing down.[edit] I ended up moving the DECT cordless phone base off the desk and since then there has been NO static or buzzing from the soundbar. The sound quality is excellent. Using this with a Dell E2414H monitor. This soundbar is rev A02. A good design but Dell needs to add more shielding to the enclosure and USB cable.
Works well when plugged directly into the computer. Static if plugged into Dell monitor. Bypasses PC sound card.
March 20, 2015
For what these are, they're good. The sound quality is as decent as you can expect from 1" tall speakers. Some considerations, though....First, they're designed to be mounted on a Dell monitor. If you don't have a Dell monitor, consider getting something else. Second, these act as their own "sound device" on your computer. If you have a sound card, this bypasses it. The volume control is non-physical, meaning that that turning the volume knob is the same as adjusting the volume slider on the computer. You can watch the volume level on the computer move as you turn the wheel on the speaker. This is different from most PC speakers, where the volume can be adjusted independent of the computer. This also means that if you have a $100 sound card in the computer, and go with these speakers, you're not going to be using the $100 sound card at all. You do not even need a sound card in your computer to use these speakers. The speakers come with a very short USB cord that's meant to plug into a Dell monitor with a built-in USB hub. When we did this (and this is why I'm knocking off a star, even though it's not really the fault of the speaker) there was a large amount of static, crackling, and popping coming from the speakers. This happened on multiple computers and multiple monitors. We found that this was due to the fact that the powered USB hub in the Dell monitor wasn't producing "clean" DC power. Both the power and sound signal come to the speakers through USB. The hub in the Dell monitor is powered, and the AC to DC converter must not be the best quality. As a result, we had to use a USB extension to plug these directly into a USB port on the PC. This kind of defeats the purpose of the short, stubby USB cable that the speaker comes with.I tried using set of headphones with these that also included a microphone (for a cel phone). The headphone jack on these speakers did not like that. The sound was terrible. I found that if I pull out the headphone jack slightly, the electrical connections lines up and the sound comes out better. If you're using regular headphones, this will likely not be an issue. All in all these sound fine, but are very susceptible to changes in DC source voltage, which results in static and hissing. There are a couple of posts on the Dell forum sites with people complaining that these speakers don't work at all, or have static. This may be due to the same issue we experiences with the USB hub in the monitor.

Okay for the money
December 27, 2016
If you're just looking for cheap speakers these are okay. Don't expect this cheap of a speaker to have great sound quality. They have a very tinny sound to them, but you can still clearly understand someone talking and listen to music. I also got a comparable set of cheap speakers from Logitech that were a couple bucks more, but well worth the little extra.
Not great.

Cables are too short, both the one that connects the speakers and the one that connects the speaker to the pc.

Only for Certain Dell Monitors
July 9, 2017
Decent sound quality, however lacking in bass. Hookup couldn't be simpler -- just plug into USB 2.0 or 3.0. Note it only snaps onto some Dell model monitors. It doesn't come with legs or a base so if it won't snap onto your Dell monitor, and you just rest it on your desk, it looks sloppy and the speakers aren't angled properly for best listening.
Doesn't work with Chromecast
May 25, 2017
Great concept but flawed execution... I have a monitor that I use with a Chromecast so there is no computer anywhere near the monitor. Unfortunately, this sound bar requires that the USB be plugged into a computer and it doesn't work if it is plugged into the USB port of the monitor itself. The USB of this device isn't just for power. You must send audio via the USB plug for this to work at all.
Don't buy to save a cable.
March 17, 2017
I wouldn't buy again. Works great at first and then you get that dreaded hiss...mine didn't start with the constant static until windows did an update. It's true if you connect it directly to the computer instead of the back of the monitor it fixes the problem but I bought this to have one less cable.
Beware of the LONG cable and the ugly ring!
March 13, 2017
Like many other reviewers I can hear faint static coming from the speaker. It's not horrible, and barely noticeable, but it's there. The cord attached to it is not removable and is several feet long, and has a ring that a kensington lock cable would go through, which is not removable. I dont know how I'm going to hide all of this crap behind the monitor...
Not too bad
January 14, 2016
I love the way this fits seamlessly on the underside of my Dell monitor. Having a volume control on the right end is also an excellent addition. The best part, at first, was the headphone jack on the left end of the unit. What surprised me was that when watching TV on the monitor I could hear the background music, even the vocal singing, but I could not hear a word that was spoken by the characters. I tried to turn on the closed captioning but decided that wasn't for me. I also wish the volume could be a bit more amplified. As long as you're near the computer without distracting sounds it's fine, but when it's competing with other sounds, it doesn't get loud enough. I'm going to keep it, because most of the time it fits my needs.
Don;t buy these for the headphone jack, but other than they, they're OK
March 2, 2015
The sound bar works reasonably well, but the headphone jack produces a hollow and unbalanced sound through some high-end headphones. I can't tell if the port on the sound bar is defective (my headphones work well plugged in any other way) or if Dell intends it to sound this way. On the positive side, the speakers require only a USB connection to the monitor. On the downside, they don't fit well with my Dell monitor stand and the headphone sound quality is lacking.

Low Expectations Were Not Met.
August 23, 2017
I realize it's an inexpensive item and my expectations were not high, but... I've had many monitors with built-in speakers, and other than volume, this does not improve upon the worst of them. As a separate, rather large dedicated "soundbar" that requires connection to a usb port, I was hoping for at least a small step up from the sound I'd get from any typical monitor with built-ins. Nope. My gripes:1. The bass/lower frequencies are over-emphasised/amplified which is never good coming from very small, cheap speakers. This creates a distracting unbalanced sound. Kinda what mud would sound like if it could talk.2. Even though the speakers are unobstructed and pointing directly at the listener, they sound "muffled" like most built-in speakers. I'm sure the emphasis on low frequencies contributes to this.3. No on/off or mute button, just volume. It's connected via USB so there is no good excuse for this.4. Requires a USB connection to my computer but offers none of functionality of a USB connection (see #3).There is a tiny power-on led on the side of the "soundbar". This LED is the best example of how little thought or care went into designing this product. Here's why.1. You can't see it unless you look at the soundbar from the side.2. It's OK that you can't see it because it serves NO purpose. You can't turn the soundbar off (see #3 above.) It stays on even if you turn off the monitor. The light even stays on if you turn off the computer...3. But wait! As tiny as it is, it is impressively bright. Bright white no less. I didn't realize how bright until bedtime. It was after turning out the lights for bed that I first realized that this had a light on it. I got up and returned to my computer to confirm my first thought that, yes, it was actually bright enough to read by. So perhaps this is a feature? A built-in night light.Dell can do better, and so can you. Even at this price point.
Pretty amazing to me that people complained about this problem ...
November 8, 2016
A step down from the analog bar that I've had with my U2412. It does crackle with static in some rooms (I've move around a bit, and in some places where I put the U2415 with this sound bar, it crackled quite a lot). Reducing the volume does nothing to reduce this, only pulling out the USB plug... Pretty amazing to me that people complained about this problem years ago and it's still not fixed with proper insulation. The volume control is software based, so in some situations when the OS doesn't capture the input from this USB function (like when in a remote terminal session for example on Windows, I did not try this with other operating systems), one has to switch apps to get it to respond. The headphone jack still doesn't work with Android headsets. I could forgive this with the older one, but for the current one it is unreasonable that I have to use an adapter for something as common as this.
Headphone jack doesn't work
May 5, 2016
This review is for the USB soundbar version. Works fine as a speaker, sound isnt amazing but definitely acceptable. I dont have the buzzing issue some have reported. However, the headphone jack on the side of the speaker does not work properly. Every time I plug in headphones (I have tried multiple pairs) the sound is very low. I have to fiddle with the plug, pulling/pushing it out/in until I find a sweet spot where audio plays normally. This is very annoying, and unfortunately something I didnt notice until after the return period expired. My specific unit is probably just defective as others dont seem to have this issue
Unusable for aux-in audio source...
February 13, 2016
Doesn't work as a general monitor speaker if you use the monitor for both a PC and a streaming box (Roku, Chromecast, FireTV, AppleTV, etc.). The aux-in port only functions when the USB is plugged into a active PC, which means you have to have both the PC and the streaming device on to listen to streaming. Plus, the volume control only affects USB input, not aux-in input. Very strange engineering choice.Lastly, it buzzes.
I can not recommend this digital speaker
January 29, 2016
This is not my first Dell sound bar that I have attached to a dell monitor. In fact this is my second. My last Dell monitor sound bar combo lasted me 11 or so years and I only upgraded to increase monitor size. So I without hesitation ordered this soundbar for my new monitor. The good:It attaches to the monitor and it provides sound. Sound good enough for daily work. I design elearning professionally and this is good enough to listen to the spoken work of my voice actors. The bad:The sound quality is what you would expect from a single speaker this size. Dont buy this for gaming or for listing to music or movies. Accept what this is and it is for productivity. The ugly:This speaker, unlike my last dell speaker attaches through USB. I was suspect about this because of other reviews but now I realize that it is a huge shortcoming of this speaker. Instead of a analog volume control that works independently of the system volume this speaker works through the system volume. The dial for volume on the speaker effects the system volume. But the problem is that sometimes the computer plays through the laptop speakers and sometimes through the dell soundbar. For example I just dialed on skype and instead of the sound coming through the dell speaker it played through the laptop speaker. The sound was blaring and system volume had no effect. I could not lower it. I had to scramble for headphones to plug into the laptop.I can not recommend the speaker for this reason. It would be much better as a analog speaker and not a USB connection.
Not So Good.
July 17, 2015
It fits perfectly to the bottom of my Dell Monitor, but it doesn't work with my MacMini as advertised. I had to contact Dell directly and was instructed to hook the Sound Bar directly to the computer via a USB extension instead of to the USB slot on the back of the monitor. Once it was working, the sound was tubby with no adjustment for the Hi or Low End signals, just volume up or down. Our $15 Altec Lansing speakers are better and plug directly into the monitor..

Did not work correctly directly out of the box. A lot of static. One speaker went in and out; I had to turn speakers off and back on to get it to work correctly. I had to do this several times. Wire connecting speakers seemed faulty too. - I also bought these speakers from Walmart and had the same exact issue. Do NOT buy these. The older versions were good, the newer (2017) versions are terrible.

Weak Treble and Horrible Vocal Clarity - AVOID this product.
September 8, 2017
Bought this thinking it would be just as good as my previous soundbar (AS501).After doing a side-by-side comparison between this AC511 and my old AS501,this AC511 lacks a LOT of voice clarity and treble, making it very difficult to follow news and television programs; it's only half as good as my old soundbar. I guess it'll okay for music lacking the need for vocal crispness. C'mon Dell: we expect better, such garbage.

The sound is really poor I had to turn the computer speaker and the sound bar up to the maximum and I still cannot hear it on the other side of the room.

Didn't work with my monitor, though reported to be a match. I wasn't able to return it since I'd just passed the deadline when I was finally able to attempt to install it.

Defective

Defective. It wouldn't play any sound from the 3.5mm audio input, which is exactly what I bought it for. The Dell P2715Q that I attached it to has an 3.5mm audio out, so I figured I'd just connect the monitor's audio out to the audio in of the soundbar. That just seems logical, no? It didn't work at all, so I returned it and found another solution. I'm not sure if it was that the particular unit I got was broken, or if it's just a bad design. I wound up using an alternate solution with an existing speaker I already had instead.
