They are not an option
December 29, 2015
I have never used shoe trees, ever. Now I realize that is because I never had great quality shoes to begin with so I really never bothered with taking great care of them. I recently acquired my first pair of Allen Edmonds Park Avenue shoes and was blown away by the quality, it was at that moment that I realize what a quality shoe is and wanted to take the best care of it that I possibly could. So I ordered these shoe trees along with leather conditioner and polish from Allen Edmonds and I believe that that was the best thing I could have done for my shoes.Comparing the Allen Edmonds after a month of use to my other shoes, I can clearly tell the difference the shoe trees and proper care are making. There is less creasing plus the leather is super soft and supple from the leather conditioner and regular polishing. If you are buying quality shoes then shoe trees are not just an option they are a NECESSITY, buy them and make your shoes last decades.
Works as Advertised

I just bought a nice pair of Johnson & Murphy captoe leather oxford lace-up shoes and wanted to make sure that they last. The cedar shoe trees (although Allen Edmonds branded) work perfectly. After wearing the shoes all day, I slip the trees right into the shoes and the leather upper fits snug. (not too tight, not too loose)I wear a size 13 regular shoe and purchased the X-Large. The cedar smell is not overwhelming, and fades slightly over the course of a week of continued use, but the wood works perfectly to keep any creases (caused from normal walking) from getting too deep or defined. A little time with the trees, and regular leather upkeep and polish will have your shoes lasting a long time.
A shoe's fountain of youth
July 15, 2014
I have used several different shoe trees and cedar ones are the way to go. These fit true to size and I use them for my dress and tennis shoes (although they form dress shoes the best.) My brother worked at Stride Rite and then Dillards and had several pairs of shoe trees from there and was always of the opinion that shoe trees were essential to the longevity of shoes. These Allen Edmonds shoe trees are the closest that I found to those and they do a wonderful job of keeping my shoes in form, smelling fresh (cedar vs smelly feet smell) and not damp. If you spend more than say $80 on a pair of shoes then these are definitely worth it. And unlike shoes, they dont wear out so you can keep this for essentially forever and make your shoes last seemingly forever as well. That is why I think my title regarding the fountain of youth is aptly put.
Great Materials, Great Quality
October 26, 2013
I ordered three pairs for my growing shoe collection, and I am very satisfied. These are constructed out of 100% heartwood, meaning the core of the tree (no outer Sapwood) which has better absorption properties. The split toe allows it to fit all of my shoes, from extra wide "cloggish" designs like a Dansko or Birkenstock Footprint. The hook is easy to get out of your shoe, and the 90 degree rotation makes putting these in boots a breeze.I came back to the page today to order another pair. I would say if you are on the border between sizes (or even right in the middle of their size guide) to go a size down. There is quite a lot of room for the spring loaded bar to move and I feel on some of my shoes that the size I ordered is pushing the limits (it presses against the heel leather very firmly). My point being these have so much variance in the shoes they can fit due to the spring mechanism that a size lower will probably still be able to fit your shoe. These are superb, Allen Edmonds remains among the best manufacturers today and these are no more expensive than other models, even less expensive than many (but not 'cheaper').
good shoe tree

These are well crafted and do the job. Since the online description doesn't have the full size chart, I am uploading the image from the package.
Who makes a video for shoe trees??
May 12, 2013
YOU: Really, you made a video?ME: I did.YOU: Why?ME: Because I can.Shoe trees are simple. They keep the form of your shoe, suck up damaging moisture, and leave a nice smell. The invention has not changed much over the years.PROS: Strong cedar smell and a solid design. Great price and has Prime shipping.CONS: None unless you wait too long and mistreat your shoes! Why spend a hundred (or more) dollars on nice shoes then slack on upkeep?I needed a few more shoe trees because I have purchased more shoes and my only shoe tree (with a cameo appearance in the video) had lost its smell. These shoe trees are notable because the ends have a hook instead of a string and they have the split toe design. I am indifferent with the hook. The split toe is nice because the shoe trees can be inserted into a variety of shoes. I have a pair of loafers that are shorter but wider than the shoes in the video and this shoe tree fits fine (a little better than my older split toe shoe tree).Initially, I picked up two sets. I was pleased enough that I ordered another two pairs.UPDATE 11/2013: Hmmm...you wonder, how does that nice cedar wood smell after six months in your shoes? There is still a faint cedar smell (nowhere near as strong as when they arrived but it's still there). I rotate between wearing two main pairs of dress shoes and another less formal pair (worn no more than once a week). A combination of these shoe trees, regular shining, and the rotation has kept my shoes in pretty nice condition. I'm not easy on my shoes---I walk between 30-60 minutes each day between work and home (I'm in a walkable urban area) and I have put new soles on all 3 pairs of shoes. At the start of this year, I thought I would need several new pairs of shoes. I tend to think these shoe trees saved my dress shoes by returning their form, removing some creases, and extending their lifetimes. Maybe it's just because I started taking better care of the shoes. Either way, don't need to buy new ones too soon so I'm happy!UPDATE 1/2013: I have been meaning to try out the sanding trick and update this post (thanks to the commenters!). Sanding works a little. The smell is (faintly) better but it is not nearly as strong as when the shoe trees first arrived. Perhaps the products had a cedar oil sprinkled on them initially. One set of them still smell better (without being sanded) than the others (that have been sanded) so it could also be hit or miss on the item. Regardless, the shoe trees are serving their main purpose of absorbing moisture and maintaining the form of the shoes to reduce wrinkles. For that, I remain happy!

I've been using this shoetree for a few months now. Still smells fresh, springs are firm and I've seen no splintering yet (I'll update this if anything changes).Compared to brand name shoe trees, I think Woodlore keeps up with the best of 'em. This brand is also owned by Allen Edmonds as well.Great buy, highly recommend!
Good Product
May 8, 2017
Purchased these as a second set of shoe trees for my dress shoes. I purchased my first set of Woodlore shoe trees from another online vendor. For some reason the "spring" that keeps tension on this set of shoe trees is not as firm as my first set. However, it seems sufficient. The extra large fits both my 11.5M and my 12M dress shoes just fine, as expected based on the sizing chart. Seems to be a little nicer product than I have seen at local retailers and drug stores. The cedar smelled good for a while, but is rather faint now. The product packaging says that they can be lightly sanded to revive the cedar aroma, but I have not tried that yet.
Excellent Cedar Shoe Tree
April 12, 2017
Perfect Shoe horns.PROS:1. Highly moisture absorbent2. Nice Cedar Smell3. Well Constructed4. Medium fits excellent in my Size 9 Shoes5. Strong Sturdy Feel6. Shaped perfectly for my dress loafer shoes7. Very reasonably priced at $20.00CONS:1. Maybe could use a metal knob on heel part to push and release but then it wouldn't be $20. The Green pull string works fine.Very happy with purchase. I have bought 8 pairs for my shoes. It really does keep this in shape by pulling out the moisture and giving the shoe back it's shape for the next use.
It is a safe buy!
November 16, 2016
I would rate this 4.5 if I could. Stretches the vamp of my size 45 shoe nicely, but pushes the heel a little bit too far.Shoe tree (L) came slightly larger than I expect it to be as it is sold in a range size rather than exact size.Although it came in a shabby box, the shoe trees are constructed using red cedar. The wooden parts feel ,solid, and gives off an aroma. Some parts of the shoe tree have a rougher surface, just make sure those areas are sanded off if they come in contact with sensitive areas within your shoe. The metal mechanism joining the two piece are riveted. Together with the joint, they project a little bit of the cheap feel. Maybe not the best choice for folks that want their shoes to look good at home. But for practical purpose and quality for the price, these are one of the best.
nice quality
August 26, 2016
these are very nice quality + have a great cedar smell + are just as nice as the more expensive Florsheim shoe trees!I wear a sixe "13" and I ordered size XL but they were short in legnth about an inch in the toe, I contacted the supplier "Leather Care Supply" and they shipped a replacement pair in XXL that fit perfect, They also sent a postage paid return label + I was so delighted with their Super Customer Service!!! 5 star product + 5 stars for Leather Care Supplier"!!!!!!!
Don't be dumb like me - these come in pairs!
June 14, 2012
First off, these are excellent shoe trees. They're exactly the same as the Allen Edmonds ones, except a lot cheaper and without the logo on them. It's not explicitly stated anywhere, so in order to be safe, I ordered two. I ended up with four, because they come in pairs. This is obviously quite reasonable, but hey, I wasn't sure. Luckily, Amazon happily takes the other pair back and refunds my card.

Wooden shoe trees are the way to go.
July 25, 2017
I bought these shoe trees for my common projects after reading that many owners used shoe trees to extend the lives of their shoes.I usually brush my shoes lightly with a little water if there are marks from wearing, dry them off and wait around 10 mins before installing the shoe tree. I have not noticed any significant creases since wearing my shoes 3-4 times a week.Overall these do what they are supposed to although they run a little wide and are a bit expensive- the same week I got these in the mail I saw some almost identical ones at the nordstrom mens shoe department for around $12.Imo $10-20 is still a small price to pay for maintaining $300+ leather shoes in great condition for years to come.

December 13, 2015
The shoe trees work fine. I use these in a variety of 12 or 12.5 D shoes and they fit with no concerns. I use them in a few different style toed shoes and they work fine across different ones. They'll keep your shoes lasting longer and help them dry out after a long day of sweaty dogs in them at the office, and hold them into a good position so you can shine them. The Allen Edmonds ones are $5 more than the other ones but have a little bit wider heel piece to keep that shaped properly, and are a little easier to get in and out than the $20 cedar ones with the strings in the back. I would pay the extra $5 for these.
Make sure you order the correct size
January 14, 2015
The correct size depends on the width of the shoe as well as the show size (numeric). I am typically a 10 or 10.5 shoe size and thought the large was the size recommended. When they arrived, they were too large. The size chart on the box foe a 10 and medium width was a medium sized shoe tree. I needed to return for the smaller size. These are very nice shoe trees and work great with the correct size.
Great for shoes, Avoid for boots
December 26, 2014
This shoe tree is a generic type meant to be used with non-Allen Edmonds shoes. If you own a pair of Allen Edmonds brand shoes, go with the "Full Toe" shoe tree. I like this shoe tree, but have found that it difficult to remove from boots due to its design. You must put your fingers under a lip, and then pull the shoe tree out. But doing this and getting the correct angle is awkward and uncomfortable in a pair of boots. If you're planning on using these with boots, I'd go with a shoe tree that has a string used to pull the tree out of the shoes. With shoes they're fine, but I would not recommend with boots.
Great product, but tough size decision for 10B/D
May 29, 2014
I have narrow shoes and normal shoes. My size runs from 9.5 - 10.5 depending on the manufacturer but most of my dress shoes are 10B or just size 10. The Large shoe tree compresses 3/4" and in my opinion too much. The Medium shoe tree 1/4" and in my opinion slightly too small. The best is ~1/2" compression, but I really like the shape & functionality of this tree. Fortunately, I have a pair of Dr. Martin's that are slightly bigger that can use the large, but I'm sticking to a medium shoe tree for all other shoes.Hope this helps, because I had a really hard time figuring this out, being a size on the border between shoe tree sizes.
Great shoe tree; worth it over cheaper alternatives
April 20, 2014
I purchased both these and the ones made by Footfitter based on customer review. I wanted to see if there was a difference; after all, a shoe tree is a shoe tree, right? The Allen Edmonds brand is both of better quality and fits the shoe much better. Feeling around these sides near the toe, I can feel the support throughout vs. the other brand. In fact, I ended up buying 2 more pairs of the Allen Edmonds for my nicer shoes. I'll use the Footfitter ones for cheaper shoes.I'd recommend spending a few extra bucks to get these over the cheaper ones, especially for nicer shoes. If you are going to drop $300+ on nice shoes, it's worth it to get better quality shoe trees to help them last even longer.

I wonder what part of the Lore of Wood says to leave splintered wood on the shoe tree? I guess I shouldn't expect much from one of the cheapest variants on Amazon. Regardless of that slightly annoying thorn in my toe (heh) these fit well and their mechanisms work.
no more elf shoes for me.
May 18, 2017
product is good, if you think they will mock your foot girth this product is not for you but if you want your shoe to stay flat and not like the Keebler elf's than get this product because it will keep the shoe shape and make it smell like wood. so fresh!!if the smell goes away just sand it a bit with 220 grit sand paper and the smell returns.
Excellent shoe trees, but slight issue with variation in size.
November 10, 2015
Bought a couple of these to go with some new shoes I recently purchased. They do exactly what they are supposed to - which is to maintain the shape of the shoe and provide cedar wood to keep the insides of the shoes dry. These are comparable to many other shoe trees available here on Amazon and elsewhere, but the lower cost makes them a more attractive purchase. Two things kept me from giving these shoe trees 5 stars. First, the heel portion of the tree is much smaller than I expected based on the photos, and I wish they were a little thicker to give better heel support when in use. Second, of the pairs of shoe trees I purchased, one of them was noticeably shorter than the rest, resulting in one shoe tree that has little to no resistance when inside a shoe. In other words, with this one tree, I can turn my shoe upside down and it falls out. I understand their is natural variation in building these shoe trees, but this one tree is considerably different. With that said, I will probably purchase Woodlore shoe trees again if/when I need extras, as I really feel you get a lot for the price.
Very nice! Love the cedar scent! Spring-loaded tensioner/not user adjustable.
February 12, 2015
Been wanting some shoe trees for years. Finally got these and I absolutely love 'em. So happy with them that I plan on buying more. Only disappointment was that I didn't realize ahead of time that these were spring-loaded. Maybe I missed something in the description that would've alerted me to that fact but I don't think I did. I was actually hoping to have the ability adjust the tension so as to stretch some shoes that fit a bit tighter than they ought to. The spring does not exert enough tension to really do that. If you're expecting something adjustable, you'll be surprised and a bit disappointed like I was. Would've given 5 starts if I'd known that ahead of time.Edit: just re-read the description and it actually _implies_ user adjustment in a way that I find flat out deceptive. I still love them but I certainly won't trust this manufacturer's descriptions so readily in the future! Leaving my rating for the product at 4 stars. If there was a separate rating for accuracy of the description I'd probably give a 2.
Overall, a great shoe tree!
February 18, 2014
The shoe tree is great, but I wish the sizing chart on the back of the box was in the description. Based on shoe size, I got and XL, but based on width, I should have gotten a large. That's why I took a star off.I took a pic of the back of the box for the men's size and width so you can get (hopefully) the right size on the first shot.
Good value for the money but should not be used on high end
November 19, 2013
I purchased shoe trees after watching a pair of ostrich leather shoes I had spent $350 get crinkles in the patent leather. Those shoes can never be repaired and will never look the same. I wish I had purchased shoe trees before I purchased the shoes. For the review on this specific product - these trees work fantastical and smell great. About 1/4 of one of the shoe trees I received from this vendor was made with pine instead of cedar, which I was disappointed about. Also, I wear a size 9 and these trees stop filling my shoes about 2 inches from the tip. Lastly, for my specific shoes these trees seem to fill some of the height of the shoe by instead stretching its width.Despite some of the negatives I pointed out above, I feel like these trees were a -good- value for the money. I definitely would recommend for anything that costs more than $80 and less than $225. For anything more than $225, spend the extra time to contact the manufacturer, visit a cobbler, or conduct some research to find out if a best-fit shoe tree recommendation exists for your specific shoes.

These shoe trees are spring loaded to hold them in place. When in the shoe there is no way to release the spring tension so it is hard to pull them back out of the shoe. They are well made

August 13, 2015
I was expecting more from Allen Edmunds. I bought the medium show trees and I wear a 10. They are very small and do not have the the pressure to really bring the form back to the shoe. They are surprisingly light weight, somewhat cheap and frankly not good quality. I would not recommend. them.
Nice real cedar shoe tree, but watch out for splinters!
July 2, 2013
I bought these shoe trees since I have some Allen Edmonds shoes and read other great reviews about their quality. They've been serving me well, but I would caution new buyers to watch out for wood splinters on the shoe tree. I hurt myself pretty badly when taking the trees out of my shoes!
Does not remove odor as well as advertised.
April 3, 2013
I have a pair of brown leather shoes from Clark's that I keep this in. The shoe tree is fine for keeping the shape of the shoe but does little to remove or hide odor. The shoe trees I purchased directly from Clark's retail store did a much better job handling odor.
Really wide
January 15, 2013
The Allen Edmonds shoe trees are really really wide. My feet are a little on the narrow side-not so narrow that I have to find special sizes or anything, but I tend to prefer brands that run narrow-and these are so wide that the large barely fits in my 10.5s, even though there's at least an inch of clear at the toe. I'm considering exchanging them for something with a better shape.

March 26, 2017
They initially smelled great and seemed to be adequately absorbing moisture in my shoes, but after a few months, they have to be sanded down again to smell good and open up the pores in the wood. It just seems like something causes them to clog up. I have other shoe trees that do not require this.
Too large
December 1, 2015
Purchased this for a size 12D pair of shoes and it fit very well. Except the shoes were too big so I exchanged them for 11.5D, the lower end of the scale for these shoe trees. While the shoe tree width was still ok in the smaller shoes, they barely squeezed into them lengthwise. I couldn't see myself struggling with these trees on a daily basis and was concerned they might damage the shoes. The large ones of this brand supposedly only go up to size 11 so I switched to a different brand of shoe trees to avoid another potential issue. Disappointing.
wooden shoe trees are a must for leather shoes
July 5, 2015
These are made out of cedar and great to keep a pair of leathers in shape and smell all like Muir Woods and what not. In general, they work fine. They are a bit small so I would advise ordering a larger size. They fit one of my leather shoes that is a little narrower than the rest and more fitted to my foot. The ideal shoe tree would be one with a full back heel that is found on one of their more expensive models. I found a better deal on ones with a full back heel for cheaper than these locally, surprisingly! Overall, decent product and works as advertised.
Shoe Trees Ordered to Size were a Bit Too Small
April 20, 2014
I ordered this item because of customer reviews that described it as the very same item as more expensive ones with shoe brand names attached. I'm a size 12 shoe, so I ordered this size 11.5-13 M sized tree expecting a reasonably good fit. While the shoe tree is long enough to properly tension my shoes, the forward half when fitted into my shoes is almost fully spread to its limits and is not tall enough to optimally keep my shoes in shape. Compared to other shoe trees I own this one seems to be a narrow rather than a medium, but I can't know for sure what the manufacturer says it is because there are no size markings on it.Also I experienced another problem with one of the trees. Upon receipt the metal shaft of one of the trees was bent and the mechanism wouldn't function properly until I bent it back straight so it would work. The box that the pair came in didn't show any signs of being crushed or otherwise damaged, so the shoe tree must have been damaged before being packaged indicating poor quality control.I'll see how long and well this pair of shoe trees work, but for now I would tell other buyers to look elsewhere for better quality.
Great fit and function, but no cedar smell
April 15, 2014
I got these trees and thought they were great at first, They function and fit my size 11-13 shoes and boots perfectly, and they're very easy to use.The only problem is the lack of cedar smell. I ordered FootFitter shoe trees a couple of weeks after these, and the FootFitters are just better all around. The pull-cord feels more sturdy, and the function seems easier, but most importantly, the foot fitters SMELL like cedar. There is a night-and-day difference between the two in terms of smell. So if you're looking for true cedar shoe trees that absorb moisture and leaves your shoes smelling fresh, go for the less-popular FootFitters for the same price (the FootFitters were actually cheaper than the Woodlores when I ordered the second time around/)

October 30, 2015
Two years ago I bought 2 pairs of these AE Shoe Trees from Zappos and love them. The craftsmanship was spot on, the cedar smell was strong and the sizing was perfect. I still use them regularly. Recently I bought a new pair of shoes and decided to buy a new set of shoe trees, this time from Amazon, not Zappos. What a disappointment. First of all, the cedar wood feels cheap. The old wood was robust and thick, the new ones are just flimsy and thin. The cedar smell is mild at best, where the smell on the old ones is still nice and strong. Even worst, the fit is smaller! I can't believe AE let a simple product like their shoe trees go to waste! Never buying another pair of shoe trees from AE!

Not What I'd Hoped
October 10, 2012
I bought two pairs of the Allen Edmonds Ceder Shoe Trees and would not recommend the product.Of the four, one tree was originally stuck in a locked position. This was caused by a flaw in the metal mechanism, a dent in the metal that prevented the shoe tree from expanding. With about 10+ min of effort I finally forced open the toes and identified the dent in the metal as the cause. It sticks up and catches on the wood when fully closed. While its now functional, the shoe tree has limited mobility, and if I were to close it again, it could easily lock up.I would otherwise identify the material as sturdy and the price as fair, however the dent in the metal is hard to ignore. I had previously purchased $20-$25 shoe trees from Nordstroms, these are in many respects equivalent or superior to the Allen Edmonds brand.

The loop isn't the best at removing the tree from the shoe
April 18, 2016
The loop isn't the best at removing the tree from the shoe. It actually kinda cuts into my hand. I have other shoe trees with a place to grip that are more comfortable to use. I noticed today that one of the pins is working its way out as the drilled hole is too large for the crimped end of the pin.
These run large.
January 22, 2016
These are just for show drying and form-holding between wears, not stretching. Unfortunately, the XL is too forceful on my size 12s, and deforms the back of the shoe in a way which would eventually make them unwearable.Fine other than that. Order a size smaller than you think you need, I'd say.
Made well, but doesn't help.
April 12, 2015
I guess the set I got is too small even though I used the size chart. My brand new shoes look just as old and worn as those that are over a year old.I tested the difference by using one shoe tree on my left shoe for a couple weeks and none on the right shoe. Both look identical. Not sure if this is a true measure of the usefulness, but this was recommended to me.The only reason I gave it 2-stars is because I believe they are solidly made and operate well. I just wish they did what they were supposed to.
Not for this woman
May 27, 2014
Based on other reviews that stated this product could be substituted for women's sizes I ordered one. Not true. I wear a 7.5 and the small was too large. Couldn't even get it into a shoe and the front was simply way too wide. Thankfully my husband can use it as cedar odor freshener. That aside I'd rate the product higher. Its excellently made, well packaged, perfect for its intended use, for men.
Good quality except for the inside
May 11, 2014
The quality of the wood is perfect, and the smell is very refreshing. But, there are small dowels inside the "foot" part of the shoe tree that are easily breakable. Mine broke within the first week. Although this does not effect the function very much, it is just sad to have to pay so much for something that is easily breakable. Would not buy this brand again, might want to buy some I can see in person first.

Bought these because I was content with the set I previously bought - this was not a repeat feeling. As I pulled them out of the box, there were 5 slivers of wood poking out of them, one has a large knot right in the middle, and overall extremely poor quality. They feel like cheap wood, look like cheap wood, and are nothing close to what I previously purchased. Also, using the sizing chart provided by Woodlore, they also seem larger than what the shoe needs (for a 10 wide ordered a large). Very very very disappointing purchase - strongly suggest different brand and not wasting your money on woodlore.

These look well built and they price and the reviews are good. Unfortunately for me i purchased these in July 2016 and one of them the rivet broke and came apart. Now i have only one.
Leaves splinters in my shoes

The title says it all. This thing was not sanded very well, and I've been finding little splinters in my shoes and socks since first using it.
