Shoe Trees helped my Shoes
August 22, 2015
I wear a size 11.5 US Men's dress shoe. I bought the X-Large Woodlore Epic Twin Tube Tree and it fit my shoe perfect. See attached pictures for more details. This is my first day with the shoe tree. I will give an update later if my experience changes.
Size 12 dress shoes = XL
May 1, 2014
These are great. I was skeptical to order them at first because I absolutely hate it when there is so much uncertainty with a product's sizing as you may notice from the other reviews. Some say they Amazon's or Woodlore's recommended size was too large, some say it was too small. That's nerve-wracking to say the least. The Woodlore recommended size was L. I played it safe and ordered XL. XL fits nicely in my size 12 dress shoes. I've tried them in two dress shoe variants (oxfords and bluchers) from different companies and they fit roughly the same in both. The trees compress approx. 3/8" (yes I measured) to fit the size 12 shoes. So would the size L work? Maybe, but I'm glad I didn't risk it. I would rather have the trees compress a bit and know they are filling the shows fully, than wind up with trees which are a hair too short. These trees have a very pleasant scent to them. Their shape is nice because it provides a very thorough fit in the shoe. The heel section conforms nicely with the shape of the shoe's heel.I highly recommend these. They feel like quality, expensive shoe trees you would expect to see at a high end boutique.
Best shoetree ever!
March 12, 2014
First of all some bio about myself: I wear a size 9 US in dress shoes of normal D width.I initially bought the Allen Edmonds Men's Combination Cedar Shoe Tree in medium as well but I found that they are much longer, resulting in shoes being stretched vertically - I could even feel the difference (ie looseness) when I put on my shoes after removing the Allen edmonds shoe trees. Now enter the Woodlore Epic shoe trees - PERFECT fit for my dress shoes, which I would describe as rather sleek and modern. When I say perfect, I really mean it. What I like best about this shoe tree is that it REALLY fills in the whole shoe - from the toe, its sides, the vamp, and most importantly, the heel. The filled in the shoe just like a hand fitting into a glove. Well constructed and the cedar smell is quite strong too upon opening the box. Another bonus as many others mentioned is the brass knob. With the Allen edmonds one I used to get my hands sore and red from struggling to take it out of my shoes, it being that tight. The Woodlore ones are MUCH better and I will be getting more of these for my future dress shoes. Satisfied and will buy again.MOAR.Note: I bought the medium shoe trees at first (which are a good fit) but always wondered if the small would fit "just right" since that is the size recommended for US 9 shoes on the Woodlore website. Bought the small size to try but it looked so tiny out of the box that it may well have fitted in a child's shoe. I guess if your size fits in the upper end of Woodlore's size charts it would be advisable to get the next size up, in my case, medium instead of small.
Woodlore - stretch that leather, yo!
November 4, 2013
Not sure what there is really to say about a shoe tree...The arch is perfect for my shoe, not too low, not too high...I have another shoe tree set from Woodlore, but because the arch was too low, I had to use that for my driver slip-on shoes...This one, I use for my everyday leather dress shoes. The shoes started off a bit tight for my feet, but I got them because the guys at the store told me that it would stretch out to my feet since it's "good leather"... but it was taking a lot longer than expected... and my feet were killing me...... yes.... "good leather", indeed....I'm assuming that this Shoe Tree helped out quite a bit because the shoes do fit quite nicely now and no more feet pain for me...My shoes are 10.5... and this [11E - 12.5E] fits snug.I've heard people tell me that shoe trees also help with odor... but I haven't really made the attempt to sniff the inside of my shoes... and don't intend to...I don't know about you... but I use it to keep the shape and form of my shoes... especially when traveling...so my shoes don't get bent in my suitcase... leather wrinkles are hard to get out once they're there...
Functional and great looking product, if you get the size right!
October 10, 2013
Everyone's looking at the reviews to find out about sizing so I'll get right to it. I fit a US 11.5 in sneakers (Vans, DC shoes, Dunlop), US 11 in most dress shoes and US 10.5 in Clarks Desert Boots and Wolverine 1000 Miles, in a regular D width. The chart on the Woodlore site and Amazon differ a bit, and the Woodlore site itself has several charts depending on if the tree is 'epic', 'ultra', or other silly terms - I ordered medium initially from the epic chart which was completely wrong. Large fit perfectly, putting slight pressure on the toe and heel ends of my shoes. I'm convinced the charts are mislabelled on the Woodlore site. The product itself is great, spring loaded with good tension and an attractive brass pull knob makes it look great inside my shoes. And of course half the point of a shoe tree is using one that is unfinished cedar, which works great in my shoes to remove moisture with these. Just get the sizing right and you'll be very happy!
Very satisfied so far. Hope my sizing experience will help you choose the right size.
April 2, 2013
I just received them in the mail and am very happy so far. I got the sizing correct which is a relief. Hopefully my sizing experience will help others.I purchased a small and they fit perfect for my size 8-8.5 Sperry Topsider boat shoes, Clarks Desert Boots and Steve Madden derby shoes (I hope to add Allen Edmonds to this list very soon). But in other shoes; mainly sneakers, I wear size 9-9.5 which includes Nikes (dunks, kobes, basketball shoes), Jordans, Toms, Creative Recreations, Pumas, etc.I measured the length of my foot with a ruler at almost exactly 10 inches. The cedar smells great and the quality of the item is what you would expect for about $25, good but not great which is perfectly acceptable at this price point.I do have some concerns about durability issues, but I'll let the test of time conclude the results to that.I know these are mainly for use with your quality crafted dress shoes, but my main use for now will be in my Sperry Topsiders A/O boat shoes. Reason being I wear them without socks and would like the shoe trees to prevent them from smelling too bad and absorbing as much sweat as possible after each wear.I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a basic shoe tree in general use for shoes in the sub $200 range.

Stratton shoe trees
August 16, 2016
I am glad to see these Stratton Classic Cedar Shoe trees being sold at Amazon! They are identical to Allen Edmund trees at about 1/2 the price. A must have for every dress shoe owner! Great quality! And The cedar smell just tops it all off!!
Fits as expected
March 9, 2015
I wear a size 11.5 in dress shoes, and this fits well (currently using on Cole Haan Lunargrand Wingtip). There is still room if I wore a larger size too.
Nice Shoe Tree
January 18, 2015
Not much to say. It's a shoe tree, made of cedar, and it works well. Keeps the leather new and absorbs moisture and smell from inside.
nice shoe trees
July 13, 2014
I have many different types of shoe trees, from plastic to part cedar to full cedar front and back section. I believe these are the best type. The finish on these is slightly rough, which I think will keep the cedar aroma more obvious. The box had a size chart on the side, with width and length of shoe giving the size of their shoe tree to choose. I wear a 10D which was right on the border of Medium and Large shoe tree. I don't think there was any size chart available on the web page when choosing what size to buy.

Nicely made but run small.
July 12, 2016
These trees are nicely made and look excellent however they run a smidge small which is no good for shoe trees. My X-Large are for size 13-14 and barely fit my 13s. I have many trees from various manufacturers and these run small in length and width. In build I would give them 4.5 stars in use 3 stars. I would not buy them again as they do not suport my size shoes, for men with smaller feet these would be great if you can properly guage your size. I couldn't even with their size guide.
They seem to be pretty much the exact length of the boot
March 9, 2016
This is a well-made shoe tree. The listing says that these are for shoes up to size 9.5. The boot I am using it for is exactly 9.5. They seem to be pretty much the exact length of the boot. Personally, I would prefer it if the shoe tree was just a little bit larger, perhaps a size 9.75 so it could extend and provide just a little bit of stretch to keep from getting that crease in the leather up near the toe. However, it seems to do a pretty good job of extending as far as it needs to, and I THINK it will do the trick as is... time will tell. I would just feel a little more comfortable if I knew it could extend just a little more. If you have a size too big for the small tree, and up to size 9.5 I would say give this product a try. I doubt you will be disappointed with the quality, but if you have a 9.5 like I do, you should definitely check the fit and sizing when you receive the item to make sure it extends to the toe.
Versatile, functions as advertised
January 20, 2016
I only have a few shoes so I put these in immediately after taking my shoes off. They have helped absorb moisture, keep shoe form, and fight off shoe smells. I've found they fit well in the following shoes/boots:-Redwing Iron Ranger size 10 - snug-Merrell Trail Glove III size 10 - perfect-Corcoran boots size 11 - looseThe spring system in the shoe trees is a nice feature and makes it possible for them to fit in several different size shoes. The joint at the arch of the shoe tree makes it very easy to insert these into boots and stiff shoes as well.
Does the job.
July 10, 2015
I like these shoe trees. At first I had ordered the XL for my Johnston and Murphy Meltons, size 11. The shoe trees were too big so I exchanged for the large. Good fit, I especially like how they support the tongue and top section of the shoe. Would have been 5 stars, but the knobs don't like to stay screwed in.
Fit is decent
September 11, 2014
I love these Woodlore shoe trees.Pros:Cedar Smell is amazing.Mechanical Functions are wonderful.Looks great.Forms to most shoes well.Cons:Sizing can be a little off (explained below).Explanation:So my foot size is between a 9.5 and a 10 depending on shoe manufacturer, and my feet tend to run pretty wide, so I have to get at least an E.For my Oxford, Wingtips, and loafers, I purchased their Mediums that are for a 9.5E.This is perfect for my sized feet, however, it is not perfect for my bigger shoes with box toes. When using the Medium on those shoes, the wrinkles from wearing them did not come out, so I had to order larges, and they fit very snugly, but fit.It also helps a lot when shining my shoes, because you can get a good coat of polish on the shoes during the process, to make sure it is a really good shine.

Smells Great, but not very adjustable
December 24, 2014
I like how strong the scent is on the shoe trees, as it really stands out. However, the "toe" portion is quite large and doesn't fit in all of my shoes. All of the other shoe trees I have adjust in the front (as far as width), but this is one set width. Due to the price it's still a pretty good value.
Great product and fits well

the shoe trees are a perfect fit, the wood finish and brass fittings are ...
September 8, 2015
rec'd your shoetrees with several products ordered from amazon. your box was partially open, contained two shoe trees and a shred of wrapping material and torn fragments of plastic. there were no instructions or plastic "bumps" included as per your ad. the shoe trees are a perfect fit, the wood finish and brass fittings are elegant and finely done. i have never used shoetrees before and don't know how to adjust them. am using pencil erasers and duct tape to mimic my bunions but it is not working well. do you have a site that explains how to adjust the shoetrees to stretch my new diabetic shoes? would appreciate your help in this matter. thank you, mary evans
Good quality cedar wood, but sizing chart is not accurate; trees are cut short.
August 31, 2015
This is the second pair of Woodlore shoe trees I've purchased from amazon.com in size M (9.5E - 10.5E). Like the first, the cedar wood is aromatic and of good quality, with no big knots, but unlike the first pair, these trees are not a good fit. The width is good, but the length is short, even for size 9.5 shoes. These trees would not come close to touching the quarter of size 10.5 shoes and would fall right out. My advice to anyone thinking about getting a pair of these trees would be to purchase these trees in a size larger than the sizing chart indicates. Smallish fit aside, these are very nice shoe trees.
Good craftsmanship, inaccurate sizing
March 29, 2014
I would give this product 5 stars if I wore 8.5E or 9D dress shoes, but since they were described as 11E shoes, and were too small for my 10D Allen Edmonds Cliftons, they receive this rating.Craftsmanship is excellent, and fit (for a small foot) is excellent The price is on par with comparable shoe trees, but Woodlore's sizing is incorrect. You may ask, "Why did you buy 11E shoe trees, when you wear a 10D?"Honestly, it is to stretch the shoe tree just a bit, width-wise, since a 10E is too wide for my feet. According to many knowledgeable gents on styleforum.net, storing a full size larger shoe tree in your dress shoes will stretch the leather enough to remove/reduce wrinkles and creases, and allow me to apply a good leather cleaner/polish/cream to them to make them look nice and patina for my wedding.I will return these to Amazon sometime soon, but do not fault them at all for the purchase or return. Some may complain to their heart's desire that Amazon's sizing descriptions are bad, but since they are not the manufacturer of this product (simply the distributor and retailer), they are not responsible.I've read elsewhere that Woodlore trees are based on Allen Edmonds' shoe sizing. If this is true, they need to make a trip to AE and remeasure.
Runs Much Smaller than Stated
December 6, 2013
This Cedar wood shoe tree is decent, but the sizing is definitely not true to size. X-Small fits 6E to 7.5E according to the item name, but it does not fit size 7D shoes snugly at all. Also, the brass knob--which may look fancy--is not constructed very well, as mine came off after a few uses. I prefer the shoe trees that have no knob--as that design is much more durable (It's a lot harder to take out the shoe tree now when the knob doesn't function as it should). I own a size Small Twin-Tube shoe tree from Moneysworth & Best and I feel that is of much higher quality, and it is true to size. I bought two shoe trees in size Small thinking they would fit my size 7D shoes, but even those are just too small to function as intended. A proper shoe tree is supposed to fit very snug, and ever so slightly stretch the shoe--this is how it reduces permanent creasing from wear and tear.
johnston murphy trees are better
January 26, 2013
i have a size 13 shoe and bought the tree that was supposed to fit. i put this in a few of my shoes and the thing barely filled the shoe. i barely had to compress the spring loaded mechanism to fit the trees in my shoes, and don't feel confident that the tree is doing anything to keep the shape of my shoe. in fact, i could slip the tree out with ease. i still have these, but i went out and bought a bunch more johnston murphy trees. they have one similar to this that i use in size XXL and it fills the shoe very well (the model should be on amazon, it's called chrome knob shoe trees on their site, and it's their most expensive one, $40). you have to really compress the trees to fit them into your shoes and the wooden front piece is much larger and fills the shoe out much better. best advice is to compare each in store if you can, or just take my word and get the J&M trees, they're worth it.
Sizing is off and not Adjustable
October 16, 2012
Quality is great, Adjustment is not available, Sizing is OFF. The correct sizing chart is available on the Woodlore manufactures site. Toe width and length are not adjustable to any extent (spring loaded) and must be selected correctly for proper shoe fitting. Nice hardware appearance.

Wrong size description on Amazon
October 18, 2016
The size reference on Amazon does not match the size chart in the actual product's box. The box marks 9.5 As the top limit for medium while here is the lowest end. My actual size is 10, hence Based on the information on Amazon I chose the wrong size. With the real product size, Large would fit my shoes. For the rest, the product is high quality, fragrant and very well finished. Just as described.Shame on you Amazon, would be better to upload a picture of the measure chart in the back of the box.
Dont buy
April 29, 2016
Very odd shoe trees I would NOT RECOMMEND. I like the style the form is what I was looking for my dress shoes then I put them in my dress shoes and sized up as all comments said im a size 10 so I got a XL but to big looks like it was stretching the leather. But I can see the L would be to small. WERID SIZING I dont think these are for every shoe they need to be more specific. Not sure what to think
Inaccurate sizing
June 5, 2015
The sizing is inaccurate. I purchased XL for size 12 / 12 USA shoes and they were more like sz. 10.
Beware of the size
January 21, 2015
As the other commenters said, the size is tricky. I ordered a small for my 8.5D, but turns out it is one size smaller. I have issued an exchange for medium. I think the right way to interpret the size in the title is "fit up to", e.g., medium is up to 9E.
fit not what i expected no adjustments for bunions not adjustable for streching
November 23, 2014
thought the tree was adjustable but it was a disapointment only in no adjustment for stretch is missing my neighbor had similar tree but was adjustable with inserts in tree itself for bunions .
Sizing is Off
April 16, 2014
First, I wear a 10 in tennis shoes/sneakers. Dress shoes depending on the designer I wear between and 8 to 9.5. Magnanni's I wear an 8, Santoni's an 8.5, Ferragamo 9, Bruno Magli 9.5, Cole Haan 9, Johnson and Murphy 9. I've purchase the Medium of this shoe tree which is really small; once in the shoe and pushed all the way to the toe it leaves about a 1/4 of an inch gap at the back of the shoe. To correct this I ordered the Large but these are just too big. The shoe tree is completely compressed in the shoe and stretches the shoe in an awkward way. I pay too much for good comfortable shoes to have them ruined, so these shoe trees are going back. If you wear larger or smaller sizes this product may work for you, They are nicely crafted and the cedar smells awesome but for what i believe is an average size shoe the sizing is unacceptable, medium too small and large too big.

Love the material and design
August 13, 2016
Love the material and design. I understood the size I ordered to work on 9.5-10.5 shoes. My shoes are 10.0. The shoe trees are considerably too small. I'm really disappointed in the size chart and how they actually fit with the shoes. Extremely less than satisfied.
good for people with narrow feet and wide heels
January 8, 2016
front part is too narrow, heel is too wide. X-Large was too small (length and width) for my 12E shoes. Also, I don't know why this design exists — there is very little range on the toe side-to-side spring rods — the toe part is already very narrow even when fully expanded, and then the springs allow them to get perhaps a 1/4inch narrower still. Conversely, the heel part is about the same width as my actual heel, but I don't need the heels stretched out on my dress shoes. I like them to stay narrow so they cup my heel.overall this is a poorly executed design with wildly inaccurate sizing.
4 Sizes Off
January 28, 2015
I am writing this review after exchanging my second set of these shoe trees. I own multiple pairs of the plain woodlore shoe trees and wanted something that would fill my chukkas a little bit more, so I splurged and bought a pair of these in a large. Keep in mind - I wear a size 11.5D. I ordered the large first, since it said it fit 11-12.5E. Once I recieved them, I found that they didn't even extend to the back of my old size 11 shoes. I then exchanged them for a size XL, which supposedly fits sizes 13-15. Again, the shoe trees came and still were not long enough to fill to the back of my shoes. After paying $6 twice to return the trees, I am frustrated and really hope that Allen Edmonds figures out the sizing on these. I expected AE to have the best product, and they clearly did not. I've attached some pictures to show exactly what's wrong with them. If you're going to spend $30 on shoe trees and have a size 11.5 or above foot, don't bother.
Serious Size Problems
October 30, 2014
Using the sizes listed on Amazon I purchased the size "L" shoe tree for my Johnston and Murphy shoes (which are size 11). Regretfully, it was much too small. I then exchanged it for the size "XL" shoe tree and unfortunately it was still too small as well.Although these shoe trees appear to be well made, the size discrepancy is completely unacceptable. I would venture to guess that the "XL" may possibly work for size 9 to 10 shoes. The only positive thing about these shoe trees is Amazon's wonderful return policy.Do yourself a favor and heed this and all of the other reviews that call out the sizing problem.
I ordered a pair of these shoe trees some time ...
September 23, 2014
I ordered a pair of these shoe trees some time back ( 1-2 years ago) and the size XL fit my 13 shoe perfectly. This 2nd pair is marked XL but is FAR SMALLER than the previous pair. They are not even close to filling up and working as they should in a size 13- maybe a size 9-10. I am returning and will not re-order from this company. Its a shame because these are well made shoe trees.
too small
January 22, 2013
I don't know what happened but i've owned a few pairs of Woodlore twin tube shoe trees in the past, but the 2 pairs that i ordered on amazon are way to small. I'm a size 13D and the size XL are way to small. The XL fits a size 11 at best. Woodlore Epic Twin Tube Shoe Tree Maybe Woodlore has changed the size construction?
