Works as a tool or toy
June 26, 2017
A nice, simple toy keyboard, but not for someone looking for a real instrument. The keys are mini, so that might irritate some. It works well, though, and serves my purpose. If you are just looking for a way to plunk out notes for at home vocal practice and/or a GOOD toy keyboard for a younger person, then this is a good, inexpensive option.
I love this keyboard
October 28, 2016
At age 65, I am presently a retired Professor Emeritus of Music, and have just purchased this Casio SA-77 keyboard, not for piano practice, but for working out the harmonic (and even contrapuntal) details of new compositions that I seem to be writing more frequently now that I am retired. This keyboard will definitely make it easier for me to do so. The keys are big enough for me, and it has a helpful array of sounds and good volume control. I really look forward to utilizing it, rather than always working out all of the details in my inner ear. I can still do that, but the keyboard will potentially add a higher level of interest to my works. I still use the computer to write, but now I can take this keyboard along with me anywhere I go. No MIDI input, earplugs or adapter are provided, no problems there. I just place 6 AA batteries in the keyboard and earphones in my ears. I love this keyboard! Absolutely!
Great gift idea! Everything to learn to play

Amazing little guy
July 27, 2016
This is a great starter keyboard. My five year old son just started his piano lessons and I wasn't sure weather he would continue lessons or not so I did not want to buy some thing very expensive. I searched around and picked this one based on good reviews. So here's my opinion about this little guy. This is a wonderful keyboard for little hands, sound is amazing and battery life is so good. You can't beat this for quality and price. This sound amazing, we carry this on our road trips so boys can play anywhere and I didn't need to change battery in last 2 months with everyday use. Definitely a good buy.
What a gem. We bought a second one!
March 31, 2016
After seeing this little gem make an appearance on James Cordon's CarPool Karaoke [...], I knew we had to buy one for our musically-inclined teenagers. Actually, we bought the SA-76 model first, the orange one shown in the video. When we realized how great this thing was, we immediately bought another, this time the SA-77. What's the difference? Despite another review that describes dramatically different sound quality (we could barely detect a difference, if at all), it seems that the 76-77-78 models are simply for different markets. The 76 seems to be intended for America: the outside packaging is in all English. It is orange n color. The 77 seems intended for Asia, with multiple Asian languages on the outside box. It is gray in color. The 78 is probably slightly different in some similar way.I should mention that the keyboard has built in speakers...not to be mistaken for mini keyboards for professional musicians that require them to be plugged into sound systems to be heard.This portable keyboard becomes the center of attention wherever it goes. Everyone wants a turn, whether they are accomplished players or not. My son brought it on a high school music department bus road trip and it entertained during the entire 4 day trip. They even used it in jam sessions.Another comment...I'm not sure why folks are so hot under the collar about not getting an AC Adapter. This is designed to be a PORTABLE keyboard. It runs on 6 AA BATTERIES which will probably last for months, depending on use. You don't NEED an AC Adapter. Really.For around $50, this is a really fun device. Is it for kids? Yes. Is it for adults? Yes. Just don't expect the experience of an 88 key piano.Enjoy!===== UPDATED March 31, 2016 ======A clarification - After studying the SA-76 and SA-77 side by side, I've determined that the SA-77 is intended for the INDIA market. It includes 5 tones and percussion beats that suits the music of India. Not sure which, if any, tones were replaced versus the SA-76. Unless you are looking for this special feature, I would recommend the orange SA-76.It looks like Amazon is deleting the James Cordon YouTube link, so here it is, obsfucated: [...]Just remove the spaces. Start at 7:50 in the video. If it is still missing, just search for James Cordon Chris Matin on YouTube.
The batteries last forever!
January 6, 2014
Seriously, I bought the AC wall plug/adapter than came with this thinking I'd go through batteries really fast. After all, I bought this for my 2 year old because he loves banging on pianos. Anyway, we're like 2 years into owning this piano and I've never changed the batteries. What really helps is that it has an auto-shut off. I love this piano and it's quite durable. Go Casio!

Novice opinion - GREAT keyboard!
February 23, 2016
I will preface by saying I am a keyboard NOVICE! Before this purchase, I played around on a Yamaha my parents bought in the 80s. When that old keyboard began to sound undoubtedly like it was.. you know... from the 80s, I decided to upgrade. After much comparison shopping, I purchased this Yamaha 61-key and I'm SO happy with the decision! I bought the standalone keyboard, not the kit with stand/headphones.I don't know tonally how high-end keyboards sound, but I am very impressed with the clarity and sound produced by this product (both through the speakers and my Sennheiser headphones). The different rhythms/sounds/instruments are endlessly entertaining. If you are looking for a casual playing experience that makes you feel more experienced than you are, I absolutely recommend this product.FYI - The power supply is sold separately.
Love this- Great for Beginners
August 21, 2015
 Love this! I had a keyboard when I was younger but never learned to play, it is has been on my 'Bucketlist" to learn to play and i am now 27 years old and figured its 'time" to learn. I purchased this keyboard despite the confusing reviews. I noticed that the keyboard is very light weight compared to the keyboard I used to have. This is great for travel purposes its portable. It comes with a stand, set of headphones and the plug/charger. Now for the stand....the stand is tricky...if you do not put the stand together carefully you can easily put it together backwards which might be why some people have trouble with it. It took me about 30 mins to figure it out. Once i had it together I at first thought it was to small or the keyboard didn't fit but after adjusting it the keyboard does fit just fine, it is stable and not wobbly it just took some adjusting and readjusting to get it to sit just about right. If you want a really heavy stand, i suggest you just buy the single keyboard and buy your own heavy duty stand, this stand is portable so it is light weight - i would like to eventually upgrade the stand to heavier one because i wont be traveling with mine but at the end of the day it works just fine. I posted a video of what the keyboard sounds like.

This is the perfect keyboard for my 5-year old daughter
December 24, 2014
This is the perfect keyboard for my 5-year old daughter, who is taking piano lessons for the first time. We didn't want to invest in a piano until we learn whether this will be a significant interest for her, and this was the perfect solution for practice at home. The sound is great, the volume controls are fantastic and she enjoys practicing on it (and playing around with the multitude of different sounds it makes!). I love that she has fun using it! I am confident that she can continue to use this keyboard for years to come. We purchased a sturdy stand for it and the A/C adaptor.
Great Product for the money!
January 22, 2014
My daughter loves this piano. Simple to use and easy to move around her room. She is already learning basics with the onboard led display window showing her finger placement on cords.
Amazing!
October 31, 2013
I'm very happy with this keyboard! It'r arrived almost 5 days earlier than expected, which was great because I really wanted to play it! The instrument itself it's really good, I enjoy the sounds very much and also it's so light that it very easy to carry and take it where you want (and this was very important for me because I wanted something that I could take anywhere!). I highly recommend this item to anyone who wants to start learning to play the piano or someone who want to study music in general.

Bought it instead of a piano which is sold for kids for almost same price. But I think this one will outlast other pianos considering reviews. I like it. When my baby grows we will use it together
Portable and Works Great
December 20, 2016
(This is for the standalone SA-46 model)I bought this for my niece to have fun playing on. She just smashes the keys right now but she's enjoying herself regardless.The keys seem sturdy enough.Don't expect amazing sounds but they're fairly nice and certainly not grating. Good enough for children to enjoy practicing on.This thing can get really loud so watch out for that.The small drum kit buttons are nice and some of the rhythms are cool.It's small enough for a young child to tote around anywhere and it runs on batteries which is convenient.Overall I'd say this keyboard is definitely worth the price and my niece loves playing on it so I'm satisfied.
I ended up buying this and was very happy about it
December 12, 2016
I was debating between buying this Casio keyboard or a toy-like keyboard, you know, those colorful toy keyboards with special animal sounds and brink brink lights, say the VTech keyboard. I ended up buying this and was very happy about it. I bought this for my 2.5 years old, but it is a toy to myself too. It is light weight, has good sound, and a good size. It is easy to put away when we finish playing, does not take up much room. This only thing is that I brought the keyboard only, if I want the power cord, need to pay extra $14. Because it is deemed to be a toy for my family, we choose to use AA batteries, pluging in the cord is not convenient, plus it is so expensive that gave me another excuse not to buy the power cord.
Works well for amateur use
September 30, 2016
I bought this for myself because I wanted a way to play quietly at night and not bother anybody, and I can use my headphones with this. I also wanted something portable and it's perfect foe that. Not the highest quality if you're looking to play seriously or record your tunes, but it works for me as an amateur playing arounf, or for kids. So it's really more of a toy than a workable instrument but it works well.
Nice little keyboard to get started on
May 22, 2016
Nice little keyboard to get started on. Good for practicing chord structure. After using this for a few weeks I played a friends full-size keyboard with sensitivity and it made me pine for a bigger better keyboard for myself. The keys are pretty small. It has a decent sound to it though and its portability allows me to play wherever i can sit down. Great for kids, beginners, or just working out melodies on the fly. I like it, but I don't love it.
Piano for the beginner should be fun!
February 14, 2012
If you are an adult beginner, or have an elementary school aged and above child interested in playing piano, this nifty little keyboard is a great first step. Here's why:. It is portable. Our son (who is 10) carries it around with him throughout the house, plugs it in, puts on his headphones and is ready to practice, play or improvise.. Did I say headphones and plug in? Yes! Indeed, I did. Piano is a glorious instrument, but perhaps less so at the hunt and peck phase. And, not having to buy a constant supply of batteries is a boon to the environment and one less chore for a parent to do.. There's enough distraction to make it "sooooooo awesome, Mom", but not so much that your child will get lost in some maze of sounds. Enough said.If you are a more experienced pianist or have a child is committed to the piano, this is not the keyboard for you. But, for the beginner of any age, it is a pretty awesome (son speaking), practical (mom speaking) first keyboard.

Good for practicing, weird Middle C
October 11, 2015
Great piano for the money. My kids love playing with all the sounds and it's great for a kid starting piano lessons when you don't want to shell out a ton before you know if they're going to stick with it.My only complaint is that the way they shortened the keyboard puts Middle C off to the left, which throws off my daughter since she takes her lessons on a real piano. It would have been nice if they had kept Middle C in the middle and taken keys off both ends.
~~~~ Review: Yamaha YPT-240 61-Key Premium Keyboard Pack ~~~~
March 16, 2015
I love, love, love, love, love this keyboard! My younger sister had been begging for years now for a keyboard to show off her piano "prodigy" skills. After looking at some reviews, we decided to order this keyboard and waited to see the turnout. Again, I am always happy to discover that an ordered product arrives on time, just like this one did. Within an hour or two, I set up everything using the provided instructions. At first, it seemed a little daunting assembled and placed there with no one playing. However, I quickly sat down and began hacking away a few basic tunes. It didn't take long for everyone else to start messing with the keys. I am happy to say that my sister is now a piano student at an acclaimed piano program due to constant practice on this keyboard. I highly recommend it!
Couldn't Ask For A Better Keyboard!
September 30, 2014
Great keyboard for any beginner! My 11 year old loves it. It's not very heavy which makes for easy carrying. I love the fact that it is compatible with my Ipad as well. Just as a side note though, you do have to buy an extra plug in order for your Ipad to be plugged into the keyboard. I didn't know that originally. The package arrived when it said it would. No problems what so ever with shipping or with the keyboard! Definitely a good purchase! I think you'd have trouble finding anything else like this for the price this is offered at! Can't say enough about this product but they are all good things, no complaints at all!
Expectations met
May 7, 2014
I chose this keyboard because I have owned a Yamaha before and was quite pleased with its performance. For the price range, this is a very functional and user-friendly keyboard with great XG Lite and GM sounds. And it's hard to beat the Yamaha Grand Piano sound quality. I use it for playing parts and voicing. If you are a serious piano player, however, you may want to opt for a 76 to 88-key version as you would lose some of the bass end on this 61-key version. Overall, this is a fun and functional keyboard for beginner or pro.
Good combination of keyboard, power supply; stand and head phones
February 21, 2014
My Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard was a replacement for a similar, discontinued Yamaha EZ 30E. I have been using the keyboard for about a month now and I am pleased with my purchase. The X style stand is not a genuine Yamaha, but is an adequate replacement. If you raise the stand to its top position and twist/remove two end caps, the upper arms of the stand fit nicely into two concave slots on the bottom of the keyboard. In this position, the keyboard is 29 inches from the floor to the top of the white keys, which is good. There are three threaded holes on the bottom of the keyboard presumably for securing the Yamaha stand – one at the center of the keyboard and one in each of the two concave depressions. For additional stability for when I am channeling Jerry Lee Lewis, using a spare machine screw, I attached a small angle iron at the center hole on the keyboard, and then tightened down the keyboard to the stand with two plastic cable ties running from a hole in the attached angle iron to the cross bar of the stand.
wrong stand for Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard
January 9, 2014
The keyboard works well but the stand didn't fit the keyboard; it was the wrong stand, included in the Yamaha box with the keyboard. I noticed that other reviewers have reported the same problem. I contacted Yamaha who replied that 'Amazon made the decision to bundle the Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard with a different manufacturer's stand'. The stand included was a 'WorldTour Single-X Model # WOR SXKS'.I phoned Amazon and this is how the problem was resolved to my satisfaction:1. the correct stand for the Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard was identified as the 'Yamaha L3C keyboard Stand, available on Amazon for $29.95 ;2. I ordered the L3C keyboard stand and Amazon reimbursed me for this purchase ;3. I asked what I should do with the WorldTour stand and was told I need not return it ;-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Yamaha L3C keyboard stand fits the YPT-240 keyboard. However, it causes the keyboard to be too high, i.e. the height from the floor to the top of the white keys is nearly 30 inches. The standard height for a piano is 28.5 inches or less. A height of 30 inches (floor to top of white keys) is not acceptable, especially if the keyboard is intended for a young child beginning to learn. At this stage I am attempting to contact Yamaha to obtain a stand that is smaller than the L3C stand. Will update this comment when further news is available.
Convenient but Pricey
October 30, 2017
I love the convenient size of this keyboard. It is perfect to transport to my voice student's homes. The keys are small, but I have particularly small hands, so it is no problem for me. Unfortunately, for the price, this keyboard does not seem that well made. You get way more keyboard for just a little more money. However, I wanted something easy to carry, and this is for sure. I also like that it runs on batteries or an adapter (sold seperately).
Nice but no power adapter included!
My daughter loves this but with no power adapter???
Keyboard for kids...
July 15, 2016
Lots of features for the price. Ear phone jack a bonus, for hooking up better speakers. However, the small keys really do not allow adults to play well on this keyboard. Quality of sounds is fair, but not really that good. This would make a very good keyboard for children, but I cannot recommend it for adults.
Not bad
Warning: Does NOT come with electric plug, you have to buy that seperately.
December 27, 2015
We got this for our son for Christmas and had NO idea it didn't come with an A/C electric plug. It took 6 AA batteries to operate. Total bummer to realize we then had to spend another $15 and wait two more days for an adaptor to arrive. Probably would not have bought this keyboard if I realized it didn't come with an electric plug since the $15 added more to the total cost.
No power adaptor!!
November 25, 2015
Very disappointed to open this gift for our grand daughter only to discover the power adaptor is sold separately. Why not include it and charge extra? Of course if I'd read every detail about it I would have seen it so I take responsibility for that. However, nowadays power cords are always included especially in something like this. It has great sound and I would have given it 5 stars, but not including a power adaptor is a real bummer.
Great for basic needs.
June 8, 2017
This very light weight keyboard and good for transporting but buy or make a padded case not the one recommended.The piano keys do not feel full size and are not weighted but the 61 keys are perfect if one is not playing classical pieces.Do not expect the organ feature to sound clear as when playing octaves or even seconds and sevenths on a piano. They are muddy. But if you are simply playing chords with melody it's great.Lastly, get a good stand that has a music stand and has screws to attach keyboard for stability.
Stand not included
October 8, 2014
The keyboard is good, but the package of accessories is not. We got the package and the stand didn't not match the keyboard. Also the headphones didn't come with an adapter for the keyboard, so they won't work. I called and complained and was told I've have to package the entire thing up again and mail it back to Amazon to get it corrected. I reluctantly did this. I actually got my new package back in two days. The headphone had the adapter this time. However, the stand was still incorrect. I send amazon an email and never heard back.Again, the keyboard is good, but don't expect to get a stand that works.
Its a good keyboard.. but
April 8, 2014
This keyboard is not bad, but it did not come with a plug. It used 6 AA batteries and depending on the use, those can get used up pretty fast. I just wish it had told me somewhere that it would not be coming with a plug.
Great board, crappy "kit"
March 31, 2014
I really love the keyboard, but only the keyboard. The stand is not for this keyboard. It slides around easily when atop it. I also called Yamaha to ask why my keyboard won't turn on and the power adapter was flashing green. Turns out its not a standard Yamaha power adapter. Way to just throw a bunch of stuff together.
Keyboard is fine: wrong stand supplied
January 2, 2014
Bought this for the grandchildren for Christmas. Keyboard is good. Good sound quality, fairly clear instructions. I think we will have fun with it for a long time to come.But the wrong stand was supplied. I found it very difficult to work out to contact Amazon by e-mail and ended up on the phone. Their operator had some difficulty understanding English and could not grasp that whilst both keyboard and stand were fine, they were not compatible. He suggested that I call Yamaha. I told him that Ihad bought the item from Amazon and thought calling Yamaha was down to him. He eventually agreed. I waited on the phone for 15 minutes. Came back without apology to say they'd supplied the wrong stand and would send another - by then too late to arrive for Christmas.New stand has now arrived - without any additional cost - but the process was disappointing.
OK keyboard, not so good kit
December 25, 2013
Now after spending some time with the keyboard, I am running across what seems to be a bug. G4 won't play if G3 is also pressed. In other words, if playing octaves, they all work except on the G keys. It isn't the key, because it works so long as the G 1 octave below isn't pressed. I am unable to find a firmware update or anything that may help. Because of this I am editing my review and taking away 1 star. This pretty much makes the keyboard useless for any serious purposes.The reviews about the items that make this a kit (headphones, stand, etc) are spot on. The headphones are not very good, and if you really anticipate using headphones you are going to need to buy another higher quality set. My disappointment is that the stand does not fit this keyboard. The stand is like a big pair of scissors, and it has a mechanism to set the height and there is a pin to lock it in. As the stand is adjusted up/down, that also changes the distance between the upper arms. The keyboard has notches to sit securely in a stand, but the stand does not have the capability to adjust the upper arms to fit this keyboard. The end result is your keyboard is not secured and will flop around. Not good. I can modify this to work, but you shouldn't have to. A "kit" should have everything properly fitted.
The ten rather boring compositions in the memory can be varied to sound ...
October 7, 2017
There is no import means for personally composed midi compositions. Unlike a very early CASIO piano, there isn't even a insert-one-pitch-at-a time feature, allowing you to correct a pitch immediately if not right, then play the song with the desired rhythm by tapping a single button. I purchased a transformer hoping that the selected tone, pattern and tempo would stay as set until turned off. However, everything turns off after a minute or so, making you have to input your selections all over again.All of your selections are input by pressing number buttons. But unlike adding machines and etc., the numbers are written on the diagonal between the keys making it confusing which button corresponds to which number. Any person able to play, with accuracy, on the reduced size keys might be able to compose something of merit. The ten rather boring compositions in the memory can be varied to sound great. But there are zero instructions how to operate this "toy".My experience with CASIO is that their devices are technically excellent, but poorly conceived. They need to put emphasis on making the utility of their products top notch. Till then... buyer beware.
Disappointed
Probably could have done better
January 1, 2016
Firstly, I was disappointed that this product did not come with a wall adapter. Luckily, It takes a pretty standard size and I had an extra one that works for it otherwise we would need to buy stock on batteries. Second, the keys aren't sturdy and if you accidentally bump it wrong they may tilt which tells me that they probably aren't the most secure. $40? Ehh, now I see it listed for $50? No way.. it's alright but not worth that money.
Great keyboard- incomplete package
December 28, 2015
My kids love this Casio keyboard. My 10-year old son had already started teaching himself to to play a couple songs. They especially love the different key tones and drum styles that are available. However, the package arrived without an A/C adapter or cords. We can only use batteries as a power source and at the rate my children are playing with it this is going to get expensive!
This is a toy, not an instrument
September 4, 2014
After reading the reviews I really expected this to be great for the price, but it was sub par for what I expected. Sound quality is not that great at all. Product is made out of cheap plastic, and the keys are too small. This may be great for anyone under the age of 7 wanting to play, but as for a 20 year old who is just trying to learn their first musical instrument, this was a waste of money. I went out and spent $40 bucks more and got a Yamaha E343 and it is such a better piano all around.Pros - Lightweight, comes with power source, and headphones. Small and portableCons - Cheaply made, keys are too small, sound is not pleasing.This is nothing more than a toy, being sold as an instrument.
Wrong Stand for the Product
Felt very cheap. I returned it immediately, terrible functionality, crap LED panel, not impressive at all. Replaced it with a Yamaha PSRE443 61-Key Portable which is far superior in every way. Even as a beginner, the price difference isn't that big, and it's worth getting a better quality product than being stuck with this junk.
September 5, 2015
I purchased it at the end of 2013 and now the keyboard has stopped working. I changed the batteries and rechecked the power supply to no avail. Now I have to buy another one. If you get it make sure you get the warrantee with it.
Missing Charger and Wrong Stand
December 29, 2013
The stand that comes with this keyboard does not fit the keyboard. The keyboard has grooves on the bottom with should take the stand but you can't adjust the stand to fit into the grooves. It's either too wide or too narrow. Also, the A/C charger that is shown did not come either.
No Power Supply and Wrong Stand
December 26, 2013
The advertised power supply was not included and the stand is not correct for this keyboard. The keyboard has molded grooves for the stand to sit / bolt into however the stand scissors open in pre defined increments but none that allow the stand to line up to those grooves on the keyboard. So the keyboard just rests / teeters on the stand. The keyboard itself is light because it is just a plastic mold so breakage is a concern especially with the bad stand. The speaker is weak. Even at full volume it was hard to hear over other noise / talking in the room.
