Should be titled super peeler
May 11, 2017
Superb peeler. Was concerned because my best peeler cost me over a 100 bucks years ago.. This one works better and is on spot. Shaves a cucumber with professionalism and a potatoes like you do it for a living. I love this peeler.
... so long when I could have been smoothly and easily peeling them with this
April 14, 2017
Ummm why have I been battling my vegetables with an old KitchenAid peeler for so long when I could have been smoothly and easily peeling them with this?! This was a HUGE upgrade and makes peeling not a dreaded and avoided chore anymore. Highly recommend.
This is the best peeler i have ever used
April 11, 2017
This is the best peeler i have ever used. Well.. its like the 2nd one i've ever owned so .. i guess that's not saying much. But hey... why would i lie to you. whatever you do, DO NOT try to use it to shave if you run out of mach III razors because they are so expensive. Youve been warned
OXO Has Produced Another Excellent Product
April 8, 2017
OXO has become my go to company for kitchen stuff. This peeler is no exception. My favorite aspect is the firm grip. My current one is skatey-eight years old and slips in my hand. I really like this one.
I would buy from this company again and recommend to my friends

Very handy, sharp and lightweight. I would buy from this company again and recommend to my friends..
Peeling away the layers
July 25, 2014
Quality matters and OXO does it right. For months, I got by with a cheap dollar store peeler thinking, "I'm not going to spend a lot on a veggie peeler - c'mon, how often would I use it?"More than expected, apparently. Every time I had to reach in the drawer for that dull, wimpy POS I would sigh. Using it made me angry. Then I decided not to be angry anymore and invested in this little guy. Totally worth it. Now I can peel carrots and sweet potatoes and just about anything else in a matter of seconds. It's sharp and sturdy and my only problem is that it's super easy to peel way past the layer of skin.Vegetables now fear me.

Best peelers on the market for the price
September 29, 2017
Best peelers on the market for the price. Let's be honest no one is ever going to take the time to replace the blade of their peeler when it isn't sharp anymore, might as well just replace them as needed, and the price point on these fits that. These are shaped strangely because they are meant to be held differently from the traditional peelers, and in holding these Y peelers properly you are afforded more dexterity, control and ultimately speed when using this device. I've peeled a ton of potatoes in my day, and Y peelers are most efficient for the task, same story for carrots. If you work in kitchens and peel things, put one of these in your knife bag! You wont regret it if you lose it, and you'll be glad you have it when you need it.
Sharp, Fast, Efficient
April 18, 2017
I bought these because they were recommended on a blog that I was following (can't remember which one). When I got them, I was pretty sure I didn't need three and I'd probably gift the extras to family members. However, they work so nicely and are always in use, so they will all be remaining in my utensil drawer!
Best peeler money can buy.
January 5, 2017
After having used one of these little peelers at a friend's house many years ago, she gave me two to take home. This has to be at least 20 years ago... One of the peelers was "borrowed" by one of my daughters when she left for college (not sure what happened to the other... the other daughter perhaps?). Anyway, it finally broke just before Christmas. She had been using it for over 10 years! She even messaged me a photo of her holding the "corpse"..... These three should last us another 30 years or so!!
great sharp peeler!
August 3, 2015
Great peeler. It is sharp and it works smoothly. So far no issues with rust but I will update this if there is any change. Nice colors. I like that it comes in a 3 pack since I'm always losing peelers! I also like that it is lightweight and easy to hold
An excellent deal on my favorite peeler
December 20, 2014
This has long been my favorite peeler for apples, potatoes, and the like. I find it to be much faster to use a harp-style peeler, making the strokes away from my hand and toward the sink rather than going round and round with one of those slow, traditional peelers. This particular model is my favorite heart style peeler because it fits into my hand so beautifully. This three pack deal was much cheaper per unit than buying these peelers individually at Williams Sonoma, as I used to do. Eventually, of course, the blade will become dull, and it will be time to move on to a new one. With this three pack, you can set aside two out of the three and use them in turn as you wear out the blades.
It lived up to the hype!
December 14, 2013
Based on recommendations from Cooks Illustrated I bought this even though I was very happy with the peeler I'd bought a couple years ago. I read the reviews here on Amazon also and thought surely this cheap looking little plastic thing could never be as good as what people were saying. Now I'm a pretty new cook so I freely admit I'm a very slow potato peeler. However, I was really surprised when I noticed that while using this peeler I was actually peeling potatoes about twice as fast as with my other peeler. I like it so much I will be ordering more of them and passing them out to others as gifts to make others prep time in the kitchen go faster. Buy this you will not regret it!

This certainly works really well. Just be careful, the blades are very sharp. Keep the plastic protector to put over the blades when it is not used. It is easy to throw away originally because you think it is part of the packaging.

Great ergonomics. Fits the hand well and is easy to hold. Good sharp cutting blade. Will buy again when this one gets dull.
Great product, great price, great shipping
May 1, 2017
This product gets a lot of use, I expect it to wear out, but they last 3 to 5 years depending on usage and abuseage. No noticeable loss of quality after several purchases over the years. Dependable, comfortable for the hands.

Replaced a previous OXO peeler which became dull after many years of use
A good little peeler.
May 4, 2016
A good little peeler, cuts off thin slices of the skin of potatoes, cucumbers and other veggies and fruits without a problem. Easy to grip and comes clean in the dishwasher.
Not Perfect, but Very Comfortable to Use
January 14, 2013
I've been using this Oxo set for at least six years now, and I've even replaced it once, after my partner tried using the parer as a crow bar. [Not recommended!!] The peeler is fine, better than the old ratty one I'd had for years, and never enjoyed using. Now I admit I don't use it all that much, so perhaps a swivel-peeler expert would find it less satisfactory, I don't know. For my needs, it's more than adequate.I do like the knife. The blade is very good; not the best, but certainly not the worst one I've ever had, it's easy to keep it sharpened, and the size is about right for a number of tasks. The handle is what I really love! I don't have arthritis or anything, but a lengthy veggie prep session will make my hand cramp with most knives. This one's comfortable to use for an hour or more, long enough for the biggest salad or stir-fry marathon.I've also bought sets for gifts, and my friends seem to like these tools, too. In fact, I recently replaced a set for one who lost hers during a move. Give it a try, especially if gripping a knife for long periods is starting to bother you.

Great but watch out for rest
April 1, 2017
These peelers are exceptionally sharp, lightweight and all-around great – but know they rust immediately. No matter how quickly you dry the blade, they seem to rust. I think that might be why there is a three pack for sale! I would avoid the dishwasher.
Works well
March 18, 2017
I am surprised how well this works. At first I thought it was going to be too flimsy to work well as it is a light and appears to be a rather cheaply made item
Cheap enough to keep one in every suit pocket.
February 9, 2017
I grew up with peelers whose blades were inline with the handle, so it seemed counter intuitive to for the blade to be perpendicular or sideways, however this is perfectly comfortable and efficient. The one thing that's hard to get used to use that the blade is so efficient that it often leaves the peel in place, which you then must brush aside in order to get a subsequent cut. Also, these feel less substantial than the all metals ones I've been using for fifty years. But they do work and I haven't gone back to the old peeler.
Nice if it fits your hand, otherwise a bit awkward.
June 21, 2016
Very sharp to start with, and it feels natural in my hand. With this peeler I tend to prop vegetables to be peeled against the cutting board and cut down along them, which keeps the blade away from the meat of my palm. My wife doesn't like it as much, because it doesn't sit right in her slightly smaller hand and feels awkward. The bluing on the blade quickly wore away in the center of the blade where it is used most, and there the blade has begun to rust a bit, but that is the nature of steel peelers. It hasn't stayed as sharp as I would like, dulling a bit in only a month or two of moderate use. I don't believe there is an obvious and convenient way to sharpen this item.
Works well-short handle
March 22, 2016
Works like a charm. It would be nice if the handle was longer. I have large hands for a woman but I imagine that most me would find it hard to hold onto. The blade is sharp and doesn't cut too far into the surface. Pieces fall off and don't get stuck in the handle.
Great for the Price
May 5, 2015
I purchased this set because I bought one similar years ago and it lasted forever. I really like this type of peeler rather than the long version. These work really well but I would prefer all metal rather than the plastic handles. I like that the set has three so you should have them for a long time. The peelers work really well, I just would prefer that they be all metal. They do a pretty good job on potatoes and carrots which are pretty firm to peel.

I bought it because of so much good reviews on this product
July 29, 2017
I bought it because of so much good reviews on this product. But this product does not impress me as much as I expect, probably the good review set me a really high expectations. This product is a little bit pricy than other similar products.
Not bad for the casual peeler.
July 28, 2017
I work at a restaurant. We peel about 800lbs of potatoes in a week. The grip is nice and the blade feels sharp however I feel it takes twice as long to peel a potato than the peeler I bought for $.99 at my local grocery store. It just takes off very small thin strips off. Nobody I work with uses this peeler they always go for the cheap one. The only thing anyone who peels that much potatoes wants is to get them done as fast as possible. It is my goto for carrots though.

It is a good product, but not comfortable to use.
Handles become sticky in a year.
February 7, 2016
I use the knife all the time. It really helps my arthritic hands. I literally cannot hold onto the thinner handles of the other knives. So, why do the handles suddenly get weird and the finger grips go mushy when they are about a year old? I buy new knives and get the peeler whether I want it or not. The knives sharpen nicely and have a great shape. I wish they would last. What do I do with all the peelers?I am buying another set now as I do every year. The handles still turn sticky and mushy although they last a bit longer if I do not put them in the dishwasher. The peeler handles don't get sticky but I don't use them all the time like the paring knife. Hate the sticky handles but it is the only knife I can hold and work with.
Not as good as I'd hoped
September 1, 2010
I DO have arthritis in my hands, and while the handle is big and wide, it is also clumsy and hard to maneuver. The tip of the peeler, intended for removing the eyes on potatoes and blemishes on apples, is NOT metal, but plastic, like the handle. It is USELESS, so you have to keep a paring knife handy. The blade seems sharp enough, but mind you, it is NEW.I think my old swivel peeler is lighter, less clumsy and easier to clean. There seems to be no advantage to this OXO utensil, and it takes up more room in the drawer. This is not one of my stellar purchases from Amazon.

Great peeler, blade rusts after just 1-2 uses
September 23, 2017
Peeler works great - best peeler I've used. Unfortunately, the blade was rusted before the 3rd use (handwashed, no dishwasher). Not sure if it's still safe to use with a rusty blade or if there is a way to remove the rust. Even at a low price, I can't afford to replace it every 2 uses.
Kuhn Rikon Original 4-Inch Swiss

Very narrow, maybe 2 inches. Guess it is for peeling tiny fruit. It is not 4 inches. My old peeler was 4 inches. I measured it.

March 23, 2017
Not as effortless as other peelers I tried but it saves more product than others. Also this one is very lightweightUpdate: the blade is not stainless steel. Had to replace the peeler because of the rust

March 7, 2017
The blade has been sharp and peels things wonderfully but its CRAZY how fast this tool has rusted. :( We still use it whether we should or not. I was pretty disappointed, even with how inexpensive these were.
Moderately Apeeling
August 30, 2016
I'm trying to teach my kids some basic cooking skills, and we're doing much peeling and chopping. I've always used the classic peelers with the vertical blade, but read that this style might be easier for children to use. I chose this set for that reason ( plus it's a multipack so no squabbling over who's peeling and who's not). These work but feel very flimsy. I don't anticipate that they'll last more than a year. Still, a good practice set.
not as impressed as ATK was
January 27, 2015
to date Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen has yet to let me down when it comes to their equipment reviewsthis may be the firstfor starters, we ARE just talking about a 7 buck peeler so I won't be too harsh as it does do its jobthe good-it's sharp and peeled fastthe side hole works well at digging out stubborn potato eyesthe bad-I found the construction to be on a the cheap side, the plastic handle seems chincy to me and I question what the durability will be compared to other peelers I've had in the pastI find the motion of peeling towards yourself or to the side to be awkward in lieu of peeling away from you, I even ended up peeling off a part of my finger nail due to this. Perhaps it's something you need to be used to before you go peeling like a speed demon but I has a boo-boo and I am going to tell the world about it, darn it!so there you have it, I am bitter about losing an eighth of an inch of a finger nail, but peelers shouldn't be nail clippers

Smaller handle
September 9, 2017
I was disappointed in this version of the Oxo peeler as the handle is quite a bit smaller (in diameter) than the old version, making gripping less easy. Oxo - please bring back the old version!
Doesnt work in the right direction.
July 21, 2017
Very sharp but only works towards me, not away from me. Very difficult to use.
Feels cheap
May 10, 2017
Honestly, this isn't a very good peeler and feels cheap when I use it. Peeling is not easy with this product. I think I will spend more money and get a good peeler with a sharp blade.
Another disposable peeler
February 23, 2017
Always in search for that comfortable and extra sharp peeler. This wasn't it.
disappointing
April 29, 2015
disappointing. the grip is clumsy, the plastic piece on the end of the metal portion is too large and gets in the way sometimes, AND my biggest disappointment, the steel is low quality and didnt stay sharp long at all, which is why i paid a little more. I was hoping trusty OXO would deliver, but no, stick with the cheap-o restaurant supply ones. sorry OXO.
Very disappointed
May 25, 2014
I love everything OXO makes. Truly, I trust this brand. I had been staying somewhere where I had the opportunity to use this set, and was so impressed with the functionality / quality that I ordered one for myself. Unfortunately the "stainless steel" knife rusted after just a few weeks. (The Peeler is fine but I don't use it as often). I can only think that OXO changed their production or had a bad batch. Very disappointing.

Two of the three blades fell out within 18 months.
September 12, 2017
These peelers are sharp and lightweight but with in the 1st year, the blade of one of them disappeared in the dishwasher. After 18 months, the blade of the second peeler disappear also. The plastic that secures the blade is just too flexible or not substantial enough to keep it in place.
Disappointed. Americas Test Kitchen "recommended" this unit
August 24, 2017
Disappointed. Americas Test Kitchen "recommended" this unit, so I bought two. They are light, sharp, and inexpensive. But, the blade rusted after one trip through the dishwasher, and, it peels in just one direction. I like to peel back and forth, like we learned in culinary school. I would not buy another one.
I recommend a different brand for sure
August 18, 2017
I bought these peelers because I have had a 'swiss' peeler for years (literally...years) that was very inexpensive and it finally broke. I wish I knew the original manufacturer because these definitely are not it. While they are sharp, they rust quickly, even with hand washing. I am already on the 3rd peeler in the pack and I bought them just 2 months ago! I recommend a different brand for sure!
Good reviews but I hated this
March 21, 2017
Good reviews but I hated this. Didn't work well and my husband ended up throwing this out after less than a week. Part of the problem is that my husband wasn't used to this type of peeler but it was still poor quility and not sharp enough.
Good peeler, rusted after one wash/dry dishwasher cycle.
June 1, 2015
I bought this set because America's Test Kitchen had tested peelers, and this set had come out on top. I was very impressed with the first use---they were easy to use and very sharp. Loved it! Then, after one wash/dry cycle in the dishwasher, the blades emerged rusted. If you're going to purchase these, I'd suggest only hand-washing and IMMEDIATELY drying them. Don't leave them wet for any period of time.
It did a great job of peeling a ripe pear
January 9, 2015
This puny plastic thing arrived in the mail. It is as sharp as a razor, so one must be careful not to bump one's knuckles as you use it. The handle design makes it almost impossible to use it with a motion away from you. It does peel well, but it is dangerous to use and The sharpness doesnt last. The design also prevents removing pits on the potato surface the way you would with the tip of a conventional peeler. It did a great job of peeling a ripe pear, but I caught my knuckles twice. I wouldnt buy it again. I am upset that COOKS ILLUSRATED promoted it. I will not longer rely on their reviews.

I'm surprised!
March 4, 2014
We bought one of these some time ago. I've always appreciated the quality of OXO products so I expected no less quality with their peeler. Boy was I surprised at the ineffectivety of this device. It just won't peel. After I complained to my wife she told me that it had never worked and she'd gone back to using the old metal one. No further wasted effort. The OXO peeler went into the trash. Guess we'll pick up a new peeler at the grocery store next trip.
disappointing peeler!
May 1, 2001
The paring knife has proved quite good, but I cannot find strong enough terms to express my disappointment in the peeler. I can't understand all the recommendations. It requires an undue amount of pressure to peel at all, digs chunks out of the vegetable and doesn't peel smoothly. It feels as though I've used a rather dull knife instead of a highly recommended kitchen tool. Even my small crew of teenage peelers have opted to use our old one from the grocery store. It has no curved edge to remove eyes and although the handle is very comfortable, it is otherwise useless.

I didn't do anything fancy with it - just washed it in the dishwasher and let it dry like I would any other peeler
September 19, 2017
This rusted about a month after I bought it. I didn't do anything fancy with it - just washed it in the dishwasher and let it dry like I would any other peeler. I think the metal may be low quality for it to rust so quickly.
The blade has rust after using it for 1.5 months
September 15, 2017
I bought this peeler in late July. It works just fine but after a couple of use, there was a watermark on it. I usually use it at least five times a week and I rinse the peeler and let it air dry. It has been until yesterday. I do not know what happened but a couple of hours after washing, the blade part was cover with rust. There are ways to get rid of it but I am just too lazy to deal with it so to the trash can it is.
