Good quality items and should last a very long time. Timer is quite loud and very easy to use once you figure out where the battery compartment is hiding. Jar lifter seems strong enough to safely grab a full jar and life out of hot water. The black end is the handle and the jar end is curved to fit the jars correctly. Thanks

This will be my 2nd kit I've bought. I bought one for myself, along with a pressure cooker. This kit works great for the canning process.You don't have to improvise with other kitchen tools, everything has a purpose and held up great during the canning process (heat, spills, etc.). I loved it so much that I bought another one for my mom for Xmas.

Every piece in this kit is wonderful! I am new to canning and found every instrument to be well-made and extremely useful. My favorite is the timer. It has both a magnet on the back (perfect since my stove is next to my fridge) and a little kick-stand for counter-top usage. I love that the "bubble wand" doubles as a magnetic tip for the hot lids. Everything was a cinch to clean, it didn't hold any pickle or vinegar smell. I also love that everything can be used in the everyday kitchen, not just for canning purposes.

This set exceeded expectations. Based on the picture I thought I'd get cheap plastic utensils. Instead they are quality heat-rated rubber coated utensils, same as the other sets for sale. The utensils seem quite strong/robust and very capable. The timer is an added feature that most other sets do not come with. My wife especially likes the timer - it is magnetic and sticks to our fridge. She can be cooking a meal and using the oven timer, and can also be canning and using the canning timer.

I am just learning the art of canning, along with some great guidance from my Mother. She insisted that I make sure to get these tools for use in the canning process. All of the items specified came intact and appear to be quality made. I have used them twice now to make pickles and have to say they work fantastically. The lid grabber/ bubble release tool works like a charm. Most importantly the jar holder to put in and remove from the canner holds the jars firmly and there is no concern that it will drop or release the jar. I have used all of the pieces but the tongs so far and cleaned them in the dishwasher with no concern of warping or loss of function. I would suggest buying this set if your looking!

This set of handy tools is great for use in canning food. The funnel fits both small and large mouth jars, and the timer can be set for slightly over 100 minutes. The magnetic jar lid lifter is a great tool. I can remember struggling with hot, boiling lids to get one out for use. With the magnet end of the tool lifting a lid out is a breeze. The jar lifter is a little stiff and requires two hands to operate properly. I expect it will loosen up with some wear. The wrench and tongs are useful tools, especially as I have some arthritis in my hands and sometimes have trouble removing rings. The opposite end of the jar lid lifter is a nice tool for freeing up bubbles in the jars. I thoroughly reccomend this set of tools. It is all you will need to successfully can food.

Absolutely love this set! If you are new to canning, it has everything you will need. The items are all high quality. The accessories will help you make your canning experience so much easier! This is the cheapest price I found on the whole net too! Worth every penny!!!

Great kit- everything you need and good price. Everything is pretty good quality and looks like it will last- Ive used it twice and am pretty happy with it. Its worth noting, I'm a beginner, and I'm glad I went with the kit, because the spatula, funnel, jar grips and the rest of it are all more useful for canning than what I already have.

I purchased this set to try my hand at canning. I've never canned before and I am so glad I purchased this set. It is so much more affordable than the brand named set and perfect for canning. It includes everything you need (except Jars/lids and vegetables or ingredients to put inside the cans) to do your canning. The tools needed are all here and worked perfectly. Very sturdy. Everything in this set is nessasary and needed to cann properly. Take my advice PLEASE! Get this set if you are going to do canning. Note that..Certain things you need a pressure canned for. This is not a pressure canner, it is a water bath canner. perfect for canning things where a water bath canner is needed. Also be sure to clean and completely dry all of these pieces to be sure they work the same every time.

This is not my first Granite Ware canner but I was pleased to find the quality comparable to my 20 year old one! (they just don't make things like they used to!) At first I was put off by the price, but after some research realized I wasn't going to find a better deal on a new one, especially with all the accessories and free shipping. It also meant I didn't have to actually go into WalMart or Meijer! I LOVE the colander and REALLY like the skinny spatula and magnetized lid tool! I have not had any of the issues mentioned in some of the other reviews regarding rusting, chipping, etc. My arrived in perfect condition and has survived one canning session to date. Recommended for either the newbie or experienced preserver. I would suggest ordering BEFORE your harvest hits....my original anticipated ship date was 2 months from the order date! Thankfully it arrived within 2 weeks.

I'll agree with the reviews who found this to be a 'lightweight' canner. It's not a heavy-duty thing, by any means. The wire lift-basket inside did show signs of rust at the first use, and the enamel coating has sharp spots on the edges of the lid, handles, etc. However, for the price, this is a great choice for a beginner. If you're new to canning and just want to try the process out without investing a fortune, this kit has everything you need. Newbies, or anyone who only cans a dozen or so jars per year, this is the way to go. Someone planning to do lots of canning, year after year, will probably be happier if they invest in something heavy-duty, but this is a perfectly good kit for someone who is just starting out (or who can't afford a fancier set-up).

I bought this set to replace an old canner (sans lid) that had belonged to my grandmother and I wanted to make a batch of apple butter. It arrived promptly, I washed it all and made a huge batch of apple butter and brandied pears. While washing the canner and jar rack/lifter, I noticed a spot on the lid where the enamel had flaked off and the jar rack was rusted! I wasn't horrified, but concerned that after one use it looked worse than my grandmothers old pot. I contacted Granite Ware via email--they were fantastic! They shipped me a new canner and rack (the blancher and strainer were perfect) in record time. I canned blueberry jam this weekend and the enamel is perfect and no rust on the rack.I must say, it is always a relief to deal with a company that will replace an item without delay, questions or redirecting blame--sometimes there is just bad product and once replaced everybody is happy. I would buy Granite Ware again in a heartbeat. I KNOW this company will backup their product 100%. To me that's a sign of quality.

This is OK to use for canning. I wish the magnet stick had measurements on it for measuring the head space on the jars. The time is cheap and I had to tape it closed - but it works. Nice to have things in a bundle.

This set is great for most of your canning needs. Everything is brightly colored and looks nice. The only complaint I have is that the timer never worked, straight out of the box. It wasn't a big enough deal to me to bother with trying to return it.

I was happy to come across this as a first time canner. I mainly used three of the pieces. I was using four pieces but the timer lived up to my expectations. It only lasted a few hours. I sailed it into the back yard and proceeded with the task using my iphone and ipad with seconds apps. For the price this a good deal. It seems to me like Presto would be better off not including the timer since the timing of various process is critical. Had I not been able to use the phone and ipad it would have meant a trip into town (10 miles).

The funnel, lid wrench, magnet/air tool, and jar grabber are essentials. The timer is pretty useless. I mean, who doesn't have a kitchen timer (or 4) already? This kit would be much better served by having a headspace gauge, which is the one additional thing I've had to buy.

Purchased this in order to have the proper gear for a canning class. The first words out of the teachers mouth "Don't buy one of the canning kits!" She tried to warn us off saying that the quality was suspect, but everything seems pretty good to me. I gave it 4-stars instead of 5 because the funnel did scratch up pretty quickly in the dishes. I plan on upgrading to a stainless funnel. All and all, this set is a good value and you can always trade up if you get serious about canning.

The Presto Seven Function canning kit is a nice starting point for beginning canners, however, there are some items that aren't really used in it. It comes with a digital timer, which seems a little redundant, since most of us have timers on our stoves/microwaves. I've never used the metal tongs or the lid tightener. I'd much rather have had a narrow mouthed funnel included in the kit than these tools. The wide mouthed funnel is perfect for most sized of mason jars. The lid lifter/degasser is nice and easy to clean, and the jar lifter has a good grip to it.

Exactly what we were looking for. Would rate five stars, but the product arrived slightly damaged with two major dents on the bottom of the pot that were bad enough to make the enamel chip off. These will surely be rust spots before too long. The other pieces were a nice add and definitely useful. This product DOES work on a glass top stove. We live in Europe and the stoves are small and in this country mostly electric. We put it on the largest coil, and since some of the pot reached another, we turned that on too. Lid on water was boiling in no time.

Price was good but at first use jar rack got rusted so they sent me replacement but the replacement did the same. Just used once and second one started to rusted too.

I had to do something with the fruit from the trees in my backyard, so I got this kit and some jars and went to town.This kit made my first attempt at canning a success. The results are quite yummy.If you have lots of extra fruit, and a little bit of time, this is the kit for you.

I really want to give this five stars because the pot is great and all the utensils that came with the kit are easy to use and make canning much easier, but, the canning rack is starting to rust after only 4 uses and that seems a little wrong to me. The rusted joints will eventually make it fall apart.

The Granite Ware items are excellent, as expected. The canning kit included however is a bit cheap. For the price, I guess it's not bad, but it would be nice to have some higher quality items included. Used all the Granite Ware items for canning this last fall, and everything worked great! I normally can with family members, but was canning for the first time by myself. If you don't have your own canning supplies, I highly recommend this set. It has pretty much everything you need to get started. I especially like the blancher. I also like that the Granite Ware items are made in the USA. I would be great if the canning kit items were as well. I'd pay extra for that!

As a starter kit this seems to fit the bill. The only faults I found are:- The enamel finish is a bit brittle. After the first use I found pieces of the enamel from the bottom of the canning pot on the stove top. This may be why it is recommended to not slide the canner on the burner. (I did slide it a few times.)- The edge of the lids are finished by rolling the metal under; but the edge is not buried and is sharp. Also, when processing for 40 minutes I found that the condensed steam collects at the rim and drips on to the stove.- The lid wrench does not clamp onto pint sized jar lids and slides on the quart size. I found it better to just use gloves to tighten the lids. (Are the lids supposed to be tightened? I left mine just touching the lid. Basically to just protect the jar rim.)But it does work, and I've canned several jars of pickles and tomato sauce so far.Lastly, I should have done more research before purchasing. Your mileage may vary, but I believe I would have been better off purchasing a pressure canner because most vegetables require higher temperatures to be canned safely (240 degrees). This is because of their lower acidity.

The timer is defective. The display window does not show the numbers. I purchased this one for the timer.

This could have been a very nice set. Trouble is with the rivets that were used. Makes the tongs and jar picker-upper hard to use. The timer is a nice touch - easy to use and could almost wake the dead!

Decent beginner's toolkit, but I had to buy a separate widemouth jar funnel, because this one was too narrow for things that need to go into wide mouth jars. Otherwise, the kit is fine. I would also like to suggest the addition of a jar lid rack so that jar lids can easily be lifted en mass into and out of the kettle.

Great for beginners. Quality is ok. When you can as much as we do you find that most of these tools aren't needed and you can do most of everything with insulated gloves and a towel. I still do use these from time to time but sometimes you don't even want to bother with the tools.

I waited an extra week for this item to arrive and managed to get by with a pair of kitchen tongs for lifting hot jars. The hinges on these utensils are pretty flimsy; I don't know how long they will hold up, but the funnel is very useful and keeps things from getting messy.

I bought this as a bundle package to go along with an All American canner. Very happy with the canner, but I bought the package way before I harvested a deer and was able to use them. When I was ready to can some venison and use these tools the timer did not work. I could not get it to set to zero and it would count down from 99 to 89 seconds and then start over at 99. By the time I used it, the window for returning items had expired. The other tools are very useful and work great, but throw the timer away when you get it.

The jar rack doesn't balance very well if the weight is more on one side than another. The tools it comes with are useful, but I'm not sure how long they will last. You get what you pay for with this kit.

Arrived with a few chips and dings. Other than that it is as described and works well.

Seems fine but we can't even use it since it can't be used on a glass or smooth cooking surfaces. Disappointing birthday present since the description said it was suitable for gas or electric stoves.

I give this 3 stars as the kit does have everything you need. Mine had a few dents upon arrival and missing enamel ( looked like popped bubbles where it is missing) Which means that it will rust easy if I do not take care of it. but I would purchase another set.

It's a nice basic canning set. But the pot was dented enough that I worried it might leak. I didn't return it because I didn't want the hassle. So far so good. Just wish it was packed better.

I was not too happy with the packaging. I bought two sets so that my niece and I could make pre-cooked meals for the summertime. Anyway, I didn't open mine up until a year later and the little pot had a big dent at the top lip that was rusted out. I didn't try to return it because I just never had the time and I already had it for a long time. The one that I gave my niece was in perfect condition. We still haven't gotten together to do this kind of stuff.

This kit is helpful but some of the pieces have fallen apart after 5 uses. Specifically the rubber coveted tongs for tightening lids and grabbing things out of the hot water no longer works at all.

Timer is a joke.

Flimsy. Only thing I still use is the magnetic lid retriever.

It was missing the lid lifter, the timer was broke, the funnel to place over the Ball jars didn't fit inside the jars so you could pour, but you had to hold with one hand while you tried to pour from a large pot with the other -- it was disastrous. I was really disappointed in it.

Cheap.

The tongs had to be put back together out of the box, but they did work.

It would be higher if everything was actually in the box! I'm missing the bubble/air Remover!!

I was so excited for this set because it has everything I needed to start canning. Unfortunately it's already starting to rust.

The canning pot is fine, but the rack that fits inside is not. I don't care what the Chinese manufacturers say, this is not stainless steel and it should be. I have used this once and the rack is already rusting. A few more uses and it should totally disintegrate. Please pass this on to Granite Ware. You don't even get what you pay for these days.

i would recommend finding a used on at a garage sale. The older ones were made better. The first one I received had to be send back since it was dented and chipped ( from the factory) the box was intact. The replacement I received still had a small defect where the super this enamel flaked off. This metal is thin and the enamel coating is even thinner. VERY poor quality. The tool were fine though.

I've used this 3 times. The rack started showing signs of rust at the joints after the second time. After the third time, I notice the rubber covering on the jar gripper is coming apart. It seems like the jar rack just isn't sturdy enough. The jars tend to fall over. The pieces are all handy but very disappointed in the quality of this product.

The set came with only the pot, strainer and lifter, no utensils. Complained to Amazon and finally got a partial refund with with which to purchase the utensils. It was a gift, so it was especially disappointing.

Piece of "you-know-what". The tongs couldn't even pick up a quart sized jar out of boiling hot water bath with two hands & multiple tries. You get what you pay for...

The timer in this package doesn't work. You need to press Min and Sec to Clear. Unfortunately, the Min. button does nothing. Otherwise, the tongs work great.

It was a gift to someone who wanted to start canning, she seemed happy with it. Haven't received any feedback on the items so far.

I was very excited to receive item. However I was very disappointed see a prop 65 warning on the side of the box "warning: this product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer". I completely missed the prop 65 warning in very small print toward the bottom of the items description.

no more burnt hands when removing jars from the canner it is great. Also no burnt fingers when taking the lids from the hot water great!!1

It arrived on time however it was damaged .

The magnetic lid lifter is missing from the canning tool set. Any canner knows this is one of the most important tools. Very disappointed.

My kit did not come with all the pieces, just the wire rack for canning. Very disappointed. I need the rest of the items I paid for!!

The lid was dented in on the side and pot was also damaged from the manufacturer. The paint on the lid and pot had bubbles in it. I would never cook in it. Returned product. Very disappointing because I couldn't wait to get it.

it came with a dent on the bottom, looked like it had been painted to fix it..but chiped off. not sure if it can be used because it looks it could create a hole in the dent. everything else is fine
